It’s been around 10 years since one of my favorite revenge movies came out. Launched the careers of Jeremy Saulnier and actor Macon Blair and became one of the best of 2014. Feel like this is probably undervalued for how great it was and what it achieved. But whatever I always remember liking it.

Green Room (2015)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was Patrick Stewart’s transition from Frasier Crane to Sideshow Bob and I loved every minute of it. (Ironically, the most recent role I saw PS in was on Frasier, where he played an affluent man trying to seduce Frasier. That was a fun juxtaposition.)

Honestly, this film had a veil of probability which added to the terror. I know that there are some bars like this in Nowhere, USA, that you cannot visit if you are a POC or LGBTQ+. So the dread was very palpable.

The gore was a bit shocking at times, but quick enough that it wasn’t too much. Jumpy views and sharp turns also added to the fear of being hunted. This was a tremendous survivalist piece, with an absolute gut-wrenching last few minutes. Reminding us that people will always be people.

You like A24 horror (so excited for Talk to Me !!!)
