Everyone else is asleep and Eren has crawled into Jean's sleeping bag. They don't really fit like this, although they've done it so many times they've figured out how to maneuver inside the small space.

It's even more awkward than it has to be because Eren always slides in behind Jean, wrapping his arms around Jean and pulling him close.

Jean always grumbles about this position (shouldn't he be the big spoon? he's taller, right?); he would never admit to Eren that he kind of likes being held like this.

Instead, he digs his elbow into Eren's side and is pleased to hear Eren's stifled grunt of pain in response.

But then he pulls Eren's arms more tightly around his chest so there is truly no space between them.

And if he bends his head down so he can brush his lips against Eren's warm, golden skin, well, that's his business.

And if Eren whispers, very quietly, in his ear, "I love you, Jean," well, that's his business too.

I haven't thought about writing an EreReiJean fic before (I did think about EreJean, and there is that one fic I have lined up that contains elements of Eren/Jean and Eren/Reiner, but it's still mostly a ReiJean story), but it would be nice to spice things up a little. Maybe Reiner and Jean get lost in the Paths, run into Eren and by accident create an alternative reality where the three of them get stuck? I can already hear Jean yelling his head off. Taking care of one suicidal maniac is tough, but two? I'm really digging this idea. 😈

As for a Modern AU!!

The three of them live together. Eren is his charming, dark, bordering on dangerous self, Jean is perpetually annoyed and Reiner is mostly a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. Eren is a hacker, Jean works in a corporation and Reiner is a personal trainer (because why not).

As far as their relationship is concerned, they're all very jealous, but they show it differently. Jean shouts like a madman, Eren gets that morbid look in his eyes that tells you you're going to die in mysterious circumstances, and Reiner smiles brighter than the sun before dropping a barbell on your foot.

Jean is the functional adult of the group (or so it seems because he’s the only one who can cook). He has a "serious job", wears suits, attends company events… But he's also always only a minute away from a mental breakdown because he hates his job (the money is good), so Eren and Reiner feel very protective of him. Even though Reiner might seem quite innocent when compared to Eren who surely has a criminal record, they both can get very intense when it comes to Jean. Also Reiner is big. Very, very big. Eren has a nice knife collection and can prepare a Molotov cocktail with his eyes closed.

Eren always "works" from home unless he disappears without a word for a day or two, and Reiner likes his job so much, it seems like he’s always on vacation. No wonder Jean is constantly pissed off. But Reiner and Eren take good care of him. Jean is a certified pillow princess and a brat, and likes to be doted upon. His lovers know how to keep him happy, but they also know what to do in order to set him off. 

Sometimes they start having fun when Jean is still at work, so that when he comes home, he immediately gets red in the face and complains about the mess they’ve made. Eren and Reiner are fucking on the sofa, asking Jean to join them, and Jean is lamenting his life choices. He’s hungry, he wants to take a shower, he doesn’t want anyone to touch him, so Reiner and Eren have to put on a real performance to get him hard – and they always succeed.

Reiner and Eren get off on voyeurism, and Jean is the shy one. Reiner loves watching Eren fuck Jean, and Eren always buys the weirdest sex toys he can find (big fan of Bad Dragon). When Jean gets to be in charge every once in a while, he’s usually a very soft dom and a pleasure top because his mom raised him to be a nice boy.

Background: basically eren had this chuuni phase where he grew out his hair and wore an eyepatch and said he'll destroy the world blah blah blah

Jean thought nothing of it except that he found this 'girl' pretty  and wanted to see her again and when he asked armin,  armin is like oh mikasa? And jean had started to work up the courage to confess to mikasa

Except he couldnt approach mikasa.  So jean plans to befriend eren who mikasa is extremely close to, but turns out eren and he dont get along,  and slowburn friendship happens and they start falling in love.  Eren wishing jean to be happy agrees to help jean talk to Mikasa

But in reality jean is having second thoughts. But he is far too gone. When jean meets mikasa tho,  jean realizes she isnt that person,  he remembers that person with bright green eyes.  Then mikasa reveals to jean that oh that person is eren

In one swift motion, Jean manages to snatch the ball from Eren’s grubby hands and make off with the prize as his opponent shouts abuses behind him, but he carries on with a poignant grin and ascends into the air like his life depends on it.

Good for his team, too. Eren almost made off with the ball all alone and would’ve earned his team a point had it not been for Jean’s swift intervention thanks to his excellent 3DMG skills. He’s quickly turning out to be his team’s most valuable player, and surely, that will rack him in a nice score on his final evaluation.

Where are his teammates, anyway? Are they off after the ball he saw Armin sneakily make off with while the rest was fighting over the other three?

Ah, whatever. Jean knows he is faster than anyone else in the 104th. When he makes his next goal, it will mark their decisive win.

A sudden movement in the corner of his eyes startles him and Eren’s ambush fails when he screams during his flank. Jean manages to turn just in time for Eren to slam into him frontally, their skulls banging against each other before they both lose control over their handles and crash to the ground with the loud clang of their gear.

As if being entangled in Eren’s lines with a bloody nose and a bruised ass isn’t bad enough, like a rat, Connie swoops in and gloats as he picks up the ball before he makes off with it while the pair remain helplessly stuck in each other’s lines.

“Hey, you asshole, what the hell was that?” Jean shouts, using his sleeve to wipe off his mouth that definitely slammed into Eren’s as they collided.

“You’re the one who fucked up his coordination!” Eren yells back. He spits in the grass several times and sticks out his tongue in disgust, struggling against Jean and only entangling their lines more.

“Oi, what’s wrong with you?”

“What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with you!?”  

He shoves Jean against the face hard, a gesture Jean happily retaliates against with a tight grip on Eren’s collar and a punch to his face.

The two devolve into a fistfight, their four-party game long forgotten, and from somewhere high above, Shadis watches and shakes his head disapprovingly as he detracts points from both boys’ performance in his notes.
