He was desperate fingers clawing viciously at a chest, nails coming back with flesh and blood stuck beneath, he was a thread sewing his ravaged skin back together, he was glass stuck in his palm. He was human, he was property, they were on the same receipt of the same transaction made by the same buyer. He was warm skin and a beating heart and a voice that was still soothing no matter how malicious or flat it was. He was cracking care that neither of them should’ve held in their hands to give to one another.

Neil hadn’t wanted him to die. That's it. That’s all it came down to. Jean had been born with a price tag easily bought, and Neil had just wanted him to know what freedom was, what the sun felt like.

Neil makes SCRAPS of appearances in tsc but he serves cunt and leaves. Absolute legend. I get now why Jean was at his wits end with this guy. He orders drinks and food, makes fucking fbi agents WAIT for him then sits in an INTERROGATION and eats take out as if it's just another day for him. Jean probably got 20 separate heart attacks because of this man and then this gremlin goes ahead and orders a hit on the behalf of a man he knew only in pain while sitting in a very public diner and waiting on fbi agents to show up and drag them away.

Neil Fucking Josten, Andrew has his hands full. Never a dull day with him.

i keep thinking about jean’s POV of riko going to hit neil.

in aftg, neil is so focused on riko coming down with his racket to hit him that it seems like andrew comes out of no where to save him but i love that jean sees it. and it’s not like he just moves out of goal or anything, no, he HAULS ASS to get to neil to save him. that to me says everything. i love them so bad

cannot stop thinking about how, from jean’s pov, neil is a Creature. an insane little man. jean expresses physical attraction or at least physical appreciation towards many of the characters in this book, and despite the foxes’ insistence that neil is good looking, to jean neil is always just… a weird and slightly unsettling presence. a strange and arrogant creature with no leash on him. an uncanny force of nature.
