Inspired by my recent read of the horror manga The Summer Hikaru Died, where the MC's best friend/love interest dies in the mountain and comes back as Something Else, I was hit with a cytham AU (because of course) where Cyno dies in the desert during a mission, and the spirit of Hermanubis takes over his body because it came to really respect the General's sense of justice and wishes to keep carrying it out in his stead.

Since Cyno is not really known outside his core group of friends, no one notices this change save for a subtle Oh the General Mahamatra is taking his job even more seriously than usual.

But of course Haitham sees it right away. And he's torn between the grief of having lost a friend and lover and wanting to know more about whatever happened here and how. He stays close to "Cyno" to keep a close eye on him, and maybe eventually Hermanubis starts to feel the desire/love Cyno felt for him and is about as confused as Haitham is. So they're toeing this line, which would be fun to explore.

I feel like Nari definitely knows immediately too, but he feels a primal fear that doesn't let him get close to "Cyno" often. Maybe him and Kaveh go off to explore the desert to see if they can find clues as to what happened to Cyno and see if there's any way to undo what has been done.

And that's all I have for now, but I thought it'd be a fun AU to share. Now I should really get back to my royal Kaveh AU

BEFORE THE BEGINNING because I know your "current project" hehe

Thank you Alex 💜 Since we've talked about what specific project you had in mind, here goes. Ask is right over here

For a WIP where Haitham is tending to Cyno's wounds. This isn't before the beginning per se, but it is before the part I have written so it still counts, hopefully.

Haitham cracks the door open, not even bothering to knock because he's not certain Cyno is even awake at this point. In his mind, he is actually expecting Cyno to be sound asleep, battered and bruised body covered underneath a light blanket to ward against the cold desert night. It is perhaps surprising then, to instead find the General propped up on a stool, trying to peer at his back with a long mirror which he has somehow managed to prop against the wall. The floor, Haitham cannot help but notice, is covered in bloodied bandages, as is the General himself.

"You probably shouldn't be out of bed, General," is his way of greeting.

Cyno freezes and looks at Alhaitham through the mirror's reflection, unwilling or unable to turn around to actually face him.

"Grand Sage," he tentatively greets back. "What are you doing out here?"

"Looking for Dehya to hand in some reports she asked me to get her. Unfortunately for me, neither she nor Candace seem to be in at the moment. And judging by your current plight, this is also unfortunate for you."

"I am perfectly capable of tending to my own wounds, Alhaitham."

"Are you, now? Is that why you're contorted like that? Got stuck peeling off that gauze, perhaps?"

With a soft grunt, Cyno actually sits up tall and stares Haitham dead in the eye, a soft challenge in his gaze. Still, Haitham cannot help but notice the slight tremble in the General's hand as he props himself up.

Haitham sighs deeply, arms crossed tight against his chest. "Let me help you."

"Wh-?"

"I have to wait for Dehya to come back, so I might as well do something useful with my time."

COUGH, that ended up going longer than expected, but that IS what happens before the WIP, so now it can be part of the WIP. Thanks again Alex

♪ Hi! I mainly go by Jay, but you can also call me Ollie and Lu!

♪ English is my third language. I'm currently working on learning three more.

♪ I'm mainly a proseka meta writer, but I also write regular fanfics! You can find me on ao3 as Jeiseny. @jeiseny on here is also my main account, only relating to my writing and/or au's, that is empty for the time being.

♪ my favourite character is An and I'm always down to talk about her. I can talk about An Shiraishi all day. Feel free to ask me about her/tag me in stuff at any time!

♪ my main group is vbs and I'm caught up with their events at the time of writing this, I also follow n25 closely and keep an eye out on wxs. I'm admittedly not as interested in other units.

♪ Classical music enjoyer. My favourite pieces are Sibelius Violin Concerto and Shostakovich Cello Sonata in D Minor. I've also once heard Requiebros by Caspar Cassadó live and that was legit a highlight of that entire performance, I can't recommend it enough if classical's your kinda thing.
