If you guys haven't seen it before, I made a rainy day preview in my ol' bird account! 'Course I gotta start posting on the new one, so I decided to show you guys some changes we've made since that preview!

Namely, that we have a new BG for it!! Nice open hills to FROLIC! WOO!

A not so apparent change, however, is that we touched up Jamie's character! I almost wish you guys saw how different he is in our events.

Don't get me wrong, he's still snippy. But there's a different edge to him now that I think these screenshots perfectly sum up. ^^

I know some in this fandom are keen on writing EJ and Gina's relationship off as a "plot device" in favor Ricky/Gina (like how EJ/Nini and Ricky/Nini are regarded by some) but narratively speaking, you don't use plot devices (in the form of guest stars: Asher Angel [Jack] and Jordan Fisher [Jamie]) FOR a plot device. That's counterproductive. Besides, if the audience is supposed to see Portwell as a "plot device," the show wouldn't have bothered having Gina and EJ meet each other's families. Not only is Gina close to Ashlyn, EJ's closest cousin, EJ has canonically met the few members of Gina's family that we know of given what G's said in 1.07 and 2.09. Terri's own words describe him as "charming" and she thinks he "walks on air," which are generally complementary for someone. Not only that, Jamie is the one to approach EJ before he has to catch his flight in 2.11. The show is clearly establishing positive relations between Gina and EJ and their respective families. Yes, Jamie misinterprets the nature of EJ and Gina's dynamic, but he still holds EJ in high regard. He says, "My mom was right about you" because he agrees with her above assessment. The writers never had EJ meeting Nini's family b/c Ejini's relationship was always a true plot device. It served its purpose. While it's definitely true Gina and Ricky are aware of each other's home lives, the show has never actually confirmed they've met one another's family, unlike with Portwell. It seems to me the show wants the viewers to invest in not just EJ and Gina as individual characters, but also as a romantic relationship. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I agree with you that Ashlyn wants Gina to be happy but I also think she wants her cousin EJ to be happy too. Ashlyn clearly loves her cousin even though she doesn’t always agree with his choices she wants what is best for him. Gina’s brother Jamie is a dumba** who has no control over who his sister dates because he is not there and he doesn’t know how his sister feels. I really hope Jamie apologizes to EJ and Gina one day he owes them both an apology.

Please I need my book to come true with that apology from Jamie. I’ll just never understand why they put his opinion over Gina and Ej’s. It’s also amazing how I legit want Ricky happy this season and everyone is praying for Ej to be hurt. It says a lot about them.

Who is Gina’s Father?

We know that Gina said her family was just her and her mom in Season 1. We found out that Jamie left in Season 2. But what happened to her dad? Maybe it's like a Descendants 3 situation when Hades left Mal and her mom. Maybe Gina's dad left her when she was a baby. It's just a thought that's been in my head for a while since I rewatched Season 2.
