Even though I don't think the virus on Dark Angel was planned in advance. At all.
Someone should do a gifset (if they want, I mean. Perhaps I can even do something like this when I get well, but it would be pictures instead of gifs, because I can't gif) about how I feel they essentially got lucky, and you could look back at some past things and almost trick yourself into believing that maybe they'd had some idea about it before writing it in season two. Almost.
Like, some ideas for this being Max's conversation with Original Cindy in "Meow" about how she's "poison." And that the best thing she could do is get out of Logan's life before she gets him killed.
And then that could easily be paired with Renfro telling Max in "Designate This" that she is poison (IIRC). And that it's her fault that a number of her siblings have gotten killed. And next on the list is Eyes Only.
But there's also the scene where Tinga's son, Case, has been given some sort of illness after he ate those lollipops that Lydecker gave him, that led to him getting a temporary barcode on the back of his neck with the number there being a phone number... Which they then called, and Lydecker said he'd only give them the cure for Case if Tinga traded herself for her son (which Tinga of course planned to do). Zack then talks about how Tinga made herself vulnerable when she let people in, essentially, and he then tells Max not to make the same mistake, as he looks between her and Logan (as he already knows how close the two of them are; and that she was willing to sacrifice her freedom for him once before). But you could argue this was foreshadowing the virus. Some of the stuff with Case is, arguably, similar to it. And then Zack tells Max not to make the same mistake when it comes to Logan, who is the one affected by the eventual virus.
Another "hint--though this is, perhaps, more of a stretch--is when Logan's legs stop healing from Max's blood transfusions. So, perhaps a clue that there was going to eventually be some sort of plot where their DNA couldn't mix.
But anyway...

I implore Jensen Ackles fans to go online, purchase season 1 and 2 of James Cameron's Dark Angel that aired on FOX from 2000-2002 before being unceremoniously cancelled at the end of season 2.
Jensen Ackles first played Ben/X5-493 in season 1 episode "Pollo Loco", his character died. But he was so popular he was brought back as a series regular in season 2 as a twin to his character, his name was Alec McDowell/X5-494 and it is truly one of his standout performances.
Jensen Ackles has stated a lot of Dean Winchester was based on his character Alec. So I, as a writer and reader of fan fiction find it a disservice when avid writers discount looking into the role.
He's better than Dean is any day. Such a shame his fan fiction fans don't see it or seem to not want to.
James Cameron's Dark Angel was a series before it's time and cancelled and forgotten about (even by Cameron who has devoted his life to his Avatar franchise).

Just realized something
Carlos Trillo and Carlos Meglia create CyberSix as a comic
Gets a live action tv show then a cartoon series
James Cameron gets "inspired" by it then creates Dark Angel
Jensen Ackles plays a character that has pheromones
Everyone moves on, then Supernatural comes in
Supernatural fans discover Jensen's role in Dark Angel
Supernatural fans create Omegaverse
Omegaverse has latinamerican, specifically argentinian roots Argentinatural is canon and this is not our proudest Coronación de Gloria

I managed to find Dark Angel online so I could watch some of the pilot tonight, and I just... really love that a small thing was set up early on in the episode that Max could memorize and repeat back phone numbers after hearing the number tones, even when they go by on speed dial.
it's a silly thing in the original scene because it's played off as a sort of party trick she and her friend, Original Cindy, use to con people out of booze money, and by the time you get to the real meat of the episode you've kind of forgotten about it.
but then Max decides she's gonna do the right thing and help a witness in protection get her daughter back (she's being held hostage) and I wint go into the like, whole scene thing but she uses the same skill to get the phone number for the goons holding the girl hostage. it's just such a cool payoff, and I remember watching it the first time and being like, "Oh my god, she's memorizing that number!!" and then after all these years I'm rewatching it and it's still so satisfying!
UGH I miss things like that in the media I watch!

I’m so sorry to share this knowledge but audios are like audio only sexual content that people think sounds like that person. I was so scarred the first time I came across them and naively didn’t know what it was 😭😭
I guess... no judgement because it's probably (?) harmless and y'know, it's not turning up outside someone's house or whatever so fair enough but also. a complete absence of curiosity on my part to ever click on that, then.

Not enough people talk about James Cameron's Dark Angel. It's a post apocalyptic sci-fi show set in 2020 about a transgenic super soldier. In 2009 there was an electronic pulse that wiped out all electronics and the world went crazy. Main character broke out of the facility as a child and is just trying to live a normal human life on the run from the government agency that trained her. There's a lot of conversation on police brutality and an unethical government. One of the main characters is a black lesbian and you could argue that transgenic is a metaphor for transgender for the way it's treated in the show. I wouldn't say it's the best representation seeing as they're lab grown mutants, but some people might find it relatable. It first aired in 2000 I think so for it's time I feel like it's not too bad.

dps boys (and keating's) favourite songs (aka me projecting because i love music) (also modern au because you cannot limit me to music before 1960 you just cant)
i made a playlist of all these songs in case you wanna give em a listen, you can find it here. if you totally disagree with me or wanna add more then absolutely let me know!
neil: talia - ride the cyclone (the musical)
yes i KNOW it's obvious to choose a song from a musical BUT. ride the cyclone is special, i think he'd really like the lack of an ensemble and enjoy the dark premise despite the comedic nature of a vast majority of the show. also i totally think his favourite performance would be by gus halper bc of the use of the projector. mischa or noel is definitely a dream role of his.
todd: vincent - james blake ('s cover, og by don mclean)
don mcleans lyricism is like catnip to poets and it has gone unacknowledged for far too long. a lyrically gorgeous, vaguely queer sounding song about a tortured artist, covered by someone with an ANGELIC voice. can you name anything more todd? not to mention the piano is so far beyond moving, nothing short of a masterpiece.
charlie: dear prudence - siouxsie and the banshees (again - a cover, og by the beatles)
firm believer that charlie was an avid beatles hater for a WHILE until eleanor rigby grew on him, much to his dismay. is now a casual beatles enjoyer, only due to the fact that their vocals annoy him. so a cover by siouxsie sioux (whom he most definitely has a crush on) is basically a blessing in disguise. loves the instrumentals, loves the vocals, loves all of it. insists that its better than the original and will ultimately die (correct) on that hill.
meeks: love on the line (call now) - her's
as much as i love and adore meeks, i have been loyal to my headcanon that he is an annoying music snob since day one. of course, this culminates in his favourite song being by THE indie pop/rock band that pretentious people love to bring up the death of. he is no exception, any time the band is mentioned he will without fail go "did you know that they died in a car crash?" either way, id be lying if i said this was a bad pick. the upbeat vibe mixed with the actual meaning of the song being about a guy wasting all his money on a sex hotline? it makes the whole song so fun, and thats right up his alley! super danceable too, which plays a huge part.
pitts: bad fruit - jean dawson
will mona ever shut up about jean dawson? signs point to no. anywho, if you've followed along with my pittsie musings then you KNOW that i consider pitts to be the most well versed music guy to ever step on welton academy campus. realistically, im sure his favourite song changes on a day to day basis, but he always comes back to this. jean dawson makes art that ive seen few do similarly, everything he brings to the table i find so incredibly unique and well crafted. definitely pitts' biggest music crush.
cameron: '39 - queen
absolutely, 100%, without a doubt, an extremely guilty pleasure. i take his parents as the type to ban queen in their household (for reasons that im sure youre able to pick up on) but i ALSO take cameron as a sucker for classic rock, match made in hell. of course, since brian may does the vocals on this song instead of freddie, he can listen on the dl and be fine. also, the concept of time travel in music is SO!!! INTERESTING!! would absolutely go on a 10 minute long tangent about the story and meaning of the song, which only mittsie would actually listen to.
knox: lavender buds - MF DOOM
fine, FINE. i'll give knox a proper headcanon, but i wont be happy about it. i think i would listen to MF DOOM a lot more if i was a former bully, but thats not actually based off anything so dont take that as an insult, avid listeners. honestly i dont really have an in depth explanation for this one, just look at the lyrics and youll understand.
Tumblr media
(this repeats 3 times)
i also take him to be a big r&b/ blues enjoyer, also based off nothing at all, so the sample probably appeals to some sense of nostalgia.
keating: clair de lune - claude debussy
yes, even modern keating's fav song would be classical, you can rip that from my cold, dead hands. this song was based off the poem by the same title by paul verlaine, which i'll include because it is just so damn beautiful.
Your soul is a select landscape
Where charming masqueraders and bergamaskers go
Playing the lute and dancing and almost
Sad beneath their fantastic disguises.
All sing in a minor key
Of victorious love and the opportune life,
They do not seem to believe in their happiness
And their song mingles with the moonlight,
With the still moonlight, sad and beautiful,
That sets the birds dreaming in the trees
And the fountains sobbing in ecstasy,
The tall slender fountains among marble statues.
Paul Verlaine, 1869 (originally written in french, so this is a rough english translation)
now the song itself does SUCH a good job at capturing the beauty and moving parts of this poem, and it fits perfectly with a plethora of different emotions. i know without a shadow of a doubt that its his kryptonite. is that me projecting because i love this song and i love keating? absolutely, but i still think its true either way.

Let's list all of James Cameron's movies and what they are based on.
Aliens, Alien 3 - Sequel to someone else's IP.
Terminator 1, 2, 3, Salvation, Genesis, Dark Fate - based on The Outer Limits, The Driver and Mad Max 2, despite this it was an Original Idea, though SkyNet is clearly inspired by AM from the short story I have no Mouth and I must Scream by Harlan Jay Ellison.
Titanic - based on real events.
Piranha II: The Spawning - based on a screenplay by Charles H. Eglee.
Rambo: First Blood Part II - Sequel to someone else's IP.
The Abyss - based on H. G. Wells' short story "In the Abyss," though Cameron denies this, claiming it to be an original idea.
The Muse - based on a screenplay written by Monica Johnson and Albert Brooks.
Solaris - based on the 1961 science fiction novel of the same name by Polish writer Stanisław Lem.
True Lies -  based on the 1991 French comedy film La Totale!.
Strange Days - Original Idea, biggest flop of his career.
Alita: Battle Angel - based on Yukito Kishiro's manga series Gunnm.
Avatar 1 & 2 - Alien Pocahontas, Original Idea Do Not Steal.
Now let's go over Tolkien's works, and what they're based on.
The Hobbit - based on the story of Bilbo Baggins a character he made up to act as the focal point of thrilling adventures he'd often make up and share with his children.
The Lord of the Rings - began as a personal exploration of his interests in philology, religion, particularly Roman Catholicism, fairy tales, as well as Norse and Celtic mythology, but the trilogy was also crucially influenced by the effects of his military service during World War I.
The Silmarillion - was influenced by many sources. A major influence was the Finnish epic Kalevala, especially the tale of Kullervo. Influence from Greek mythology is also apparent in the way that the island of Númenor recalls Atlantis, and the Valar borrow many attributes from the Olympian gods.
Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-earth - literally what the Director's cut of the LOTR wishes it could be, stories and essays ranging in time from the Elder Days of Middle-earth to the end of the War of the Ring, and further relates events as told in The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings.
The History of Middle-earth - a legendarium based on everything he's written.
Mr. Cameron, you are but a babe, unable to even stand on the shoulders of a literary giant like Tolkien.

Top Four Romances I'm Furious Didn't Get a Happy Ending
4. Jack and Rose
Blame the door. Blame Rose. Blame James Cameron. Blame science. I don't care. I, and everyone else, HATED that Jack died. After all that.......... he dies? Seemingly in a dumb way.
James Cameron has obviously expanded on his decision making skills regarding deciding to kill Jack. Obviously while it was about Jack's science and the pure significance of the sum of loss the true meaning was......Rose. Rose went from her mother, to Cal, to Jack. She was always dependent on someone for survival, status, guidance or permission to live. If she had gone with Jack she'd be living Jack's life. Jack dying is what forced Rose to finally take control of her own life. I get that. It's noble. I also wanted Jack to live. The audience did as well and it did look like if she just moved over.... he would have.
Don't even get me started on "My Heart Will Go On" cause imma cry.
Tumblr media
3. Buffy and Angel
Probably the greatest more tragic romance ever. A couple that defined the 90s with electric chemistry that saved this couple from being creepy instead made it sweet and chaste. Angel fell in love with Buffy the moment he saw her. It was her that motivated him to become A Champion. He gave her the iconic Claddagh ring.  That night, they slept together for the first time, which resulted in Angel experiencing the "moment of true happiness" required to end his curse. He was alleviated of his soul, and reverted to the guiltless, sadistic Angelus........ breaking viewers hearts. Especially this viewer. While Spuffy grew on me and Bangle grew apart..... it became clear even in the worst of times they were connected by the heart.
A romance destined to end in disaster all the same. This one was for the history books.
Tumblr media
2. Augustus “Gus” Waters and Hazel Grace Lancaster
Working through their illnesses together, the two manage a relationship that is mature beyond their years. Part of what makes the end of this romance so difficult to watch is the fact that though Hazel is much sicker than Gus, his cancer ends up making an aggressive and unexpected return. We should have known it wasn't going to end well, but we were hopefully, THEY were hopefully. The scene when Hazel gets the phone call that Gus passed away, pain just pain. Shailene deserved at least the very a nominiation.
Tumblr media
Reylo
We could have had it all. Ben and Rey could have had the best of both worlds, powerful light and powerful darkness, a balance. Their love story could have brought balanced to the force.
Ben had felt alone and abandoned for a really long time, and had tried to channel those feelings to gain more power, but was clearly failing and having doubts. Then along comes a girl with whom he shares a fate-like connection, with a similar past of parent abandonment/betrayal issues, who opens up to him & seems convinced that he is meant to be someone better.... will become someone better.
But the internet is why we can't have nice things. Reylo benefited from it's fandom, it also was severely wounded from people determined to paint Reylo as something that it wasn't due to their own issues.

Emmylou Harris interview by Cameron Crowe Rolling Stone, June 19, 1975
Fame Catches Up with Emmylou
Los Angeles – Guitar in hand, Gram Parsons sat in his road manager’s Laurel Canyon home and coached singer Emmylou Harris through the harmonies of the old Burritos classic, “Sin City.” Later, after she’d excused herself for a visit to the kitchen, Parsons grinned proudly. “There she is,” he said, “that’s my kick in the ass, keep an eye on her.”
That was in 1973. Now, two years later, Harris’s first major solo effort, Pieces of the Sky, has done well and her current club and concert tour (augmented by a band featuring Elvis’s guitarist James Burton and his keyboard player Glen D. Hardin) is drawing unanimous raves. But Emmylou Harris, it seems, is the last to catch up with Emmylou Harris. Still a bit dazed over Parsons’s untimely death in the fall of ’73, the 28-year-old singer is only now waking up to the reality of a successful solo career.
“I know what’s happening but it hasn’t really hit me yet,” she drawls softly, curled up on the sofa of a West Hollywood hotel room. Two nights earlier, she’d enthralled a capacity Palomino Club audience that included such luminaries as Bonnie Raitt, Maria Muldaur, Lowell George, Commander Cody, Joni Mitchell and Linda Ronstadt (for whose recent country hit, “I Can’t Help It” Harris provided the strong counter harmony). “I guess it’s just been a kind of long hard road. In a way I’ve been at this for almost ten years on almost all kinds of levels – from waiting tables to playing in New York clubs and not having anybody listen to me, to making a terrible first record for a bankrupt company to working with Gram.
“I suppose working with Gram was the most amazing thing that ever happened to me,” she continues. “There was just something very magical about the experience. It was so much fun to just get up there, sing with him, and not worry about carrying a show myself. Everyone paid all this attention to me and told me how good I was and all that. It was really like being some kind of fairytale princess. Somehow that affected me more than all this that’s happening now.” She lets her words settle for a moment, then decides on a quip. “Maybe I’m on time delay.”
Born in Alabama and raised in Virginia, Harris remembers a reputation of being a “real prig” in high school. “I was considered to be a kind of oddball. You know, always studying and making good grades. Singing began as a social thing. I realized when I started singing at parties people began noticing me. High schools are real hip now, everybody’s cool, but there was a counter-culture in Woodbridge, Virginia, in 1963. You were either a homecoming queen or  a real weirdo. Here I was a 16-year-old Wasp, wanting to quit school and become Woody Guthrie.”
Instead, Harris made it to the University of North Carolina on a drama scholarship. Using free time to play off-campus bars in a folk duo, she lasted a year and a half before applying to the more prestigious drama department at Boston University. “I was gonna work as a waitress in Virginia Beach for a while to get enough tuition money,” she recalls. “But there was an incredible little music scene going on down there. That’s when I got serious about singing.”
Harris never made it to Boston U. “I thought I was going to get married. My first big love below up in my face, so I just went to New York ’cause there was nothing else to do. I was greener than green. I got a room at the YWCA, started going to the Village, playing basket houses [pass-the-hat-clubs] and just . . . hangin’ out.”
In two years of scuffling around New York, Emmylou made some valuable friends like singers Jerry Jeff Walker and David Bromberg. “Besides turning me on to country music, they sort of looked out for me,” she says. “Even so, I must have had some protective kind of bubble around me. I used to walk home from gigs on dark streets at two in the morning with my guitar and never think anything of it. Looking back, I get scared to death.”
Harris’s first album (on the now defunct Jubilee records), recorded in New York just after her marriage, is one she’d like to forget. “I was trying to keep it a secret,” she laughs (ironically, since the 1970 release was titled Emmylou Harris). “I hope somebody in authority will be able to buy the masters and burn them. Everybody involved with that record hated everybody else and I was in the middle trying to keep the peace. It was a disaster.”
Several months after recording, “the worst possible thing any girl could ever do to her budding career” happened. Harris became pregnant with her child, Hallie. “Up until then,” she admits, “my life had been a little too nebulous, I had no clear vision at all. The pregnancy, although it wasn’t planned, gave me something very real and something present to relate to.”
Later, with her marriage broken and ten dollars in her pocket, the protectiveness of motherhood, soon drove Harris out of New York. “I didn’t know where I was gonna go, but I knew I had to get a job and make some money. By accident I got back into music through some friends, Billy and Kathy Danoff [writers of ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’]. They were still living in their basement apartment with all the cockroaches running around. They were the ones that put a guitar in my hands and ordered me onstage again.”
It was early ’71 when Flying Burrito Brothers guitarist Rick Roberts stumbled onto Harris performing in a small Washington D.C. bar called the Red Fox. The next night, Roberts brought the rest of the Burritos down for a look. They invited her to join the band; before she could accept, the Burritos had dissolved.
“Chris Hillman,” Emmylou remembers, “wanted to come out to L.A. so he could produce some demo tapes. He was really busy at the time. Anyway, I think it probably worked out the way it should have.” The way it worked out was for Hillman to turn on Gram Parsons, the Burritos’ long estranged cofounder, to their incredible discovery. Months later, Parson dropped in on one of Harris’s many D.C appearances and made a few vague promises. A year later, Parsons invited her to L.A. to sing on his first solo album, GP. Their partnership quickly intensified. “It was gonna be a Dolly Parton-Porter Wagoner situation. We didn’t see any need to break up that partnership because we really got higher on what we did together than anything we did separately. I still feel that way.”
It was hard work, she says, that kept her from slipping into an extended depression. “Gram’s death was like falling off a mountain. It was a very hard year between his death and the recording of my album [Pieces of the Sky]. A year of throwing myself into a lot of work that my heart wasn’t really into. There was a lot of stumbling involved. I was playing quite a few bars and was in a real vulnerable position. People felt that they could come up and ask me anything. I used to get hostile. It  hurt. I didn’t want to get emotional around some perfect stranger who had the goddamn gall to come up and ask me something that was none of his goddamn business.”
The subject brings her close to tears. “Gram was such an amazing part of my life. I have so many good memories of him, it seems pointless to dwell on the tragedy of it.” Abruptly, she reaches to turn up the country station already blaring from a hotel room radio. “Do you like Conway Twitty?” she asks. “I just love the harmony on this.”
Pieces of the Sky was almost a year long project in itself. Emmylou for one could not be more proud. With the help of Anne Murray’s ex-producer Brian Ahern, great care was taken in selecting material. “I’m just starting to write again,” says Harris. “I don’t mind the fact that I only wrote one song [“Boulder to Birmingham,’ cowritten with Bill Danoff] on the album. There are just too many tunes that I get off doing and want to turn people on to. I feel very deeply and personally involved with each one, so I don’t miss that writer’s identity of making a statement.
“I think any singer feels that way,” Harris says about choosing songs like the Everly Brothers’ “Sleepless Nights,” the Beatles’ “For No One”and Dolly Parton’s “Coat of Many Colors.” Like Linda [Ronstadt]. When she sings a song it’s really sung. Nobody cares that she doesn’t write; the delivery’s all that really matters.”
Besides a heavy touring schedule and the summer recording of her next album, Emmylou Harris spunkily refuses to acknowledge the long-range future. “A lot of my life has been circumstance. The future just doesn’t exist for me. You’re not responsible for decisions if you don’t make them.
“What do I see in the future?” Harris asks, reaching for the telephone. “A chocolate shake. Hello, Room Service?”
