"after all, how can one feel the loss of a thing whose existence one has become unconscious to?"
a wonderful collection of essential and constant truth bombs.

sorry about invading your ask box with that long essay. I know half of it is incoherent :') I just said all I could. The summary of it though is (in case you dont wish to read it all): I hated Ram. Couldnt understand why people were so crazy about him to the extent that the rich were racing to give away all their life earnings and the poor were making sure even their humble little huts are lit up for Ram that day. Then I read about the Hindu history. Became absolutely horrified. I felt scarred. Currently in the process of begging Ram to heal the ancestral wounds I am carrying deep within my soul. Trying to make my parents understand why the new Sita-Ram poster in my room is for spiritual needs. Hon'ble mentions- I finished Ami Ganatra's commentary on Ramayana and also listened to her explain a lot of the misconceptions I held. Also found J Sai Deepak. His book went slightly over my head but I am re-reading to understand it better. I love his speeches. Another guy who explains the hindu position brilliantly is Anand Rangnathan imo. Some of his arguments were actually what contributed in my disillusionment. I am currently reading his "Hindus in Hindu Rashtra"
Don't feel sorry at all, my dear, it's completely fine!
I'm absolutely proud of you for taking up the courage and determination to seek the answers for yourself. Siya Ram would be proud of you regardless, as long as you're happy and your happiness doesn't strike down someone else's.
I'm glad that you're learning new things as well as trying to solve the misconceptions you had, my dear. These people are some great sources, especially Anand Ranganathan in his neutral and brutal view of the political situation in our country.
I wish you all the very best for your understanding of the new perspective you have seen and i will always help you, should you ever ask for it

"as a consequence, most colonies embraced nationalism of the territorial kind, which altered their priorities significantly. the deprivation of a cultural or civilisational anchor to their ‘modern’ identities meant that their visions of the past, present and future were limited to merely preserving territorial integrity while constantly ceding space on civilisational integrity to coloniality"
on a ludicrous side note, the design of this book is absolutely gorgeous.

"Gandhi rendered Hindu society defenceless, impotent & almost incapable." - 21 Oct 2022
J. Sai Deepak: Gandhi rendered Hindu society defenceless & almost incapable of standing for itself. He did not think that we were entitled to the right to self defence, which is the most fundamental of rights
