Dora if you don't mind- what are these? I'm so curious!
OH HELL YEAH!!!
Lamingtons are delicious squares of butter cake covered in chocolate icing and desiccated coconut. The fanciest ones have a layer of jam and/or cream through the middle!
Tumblr media
(Image from Wikipedia)
Fun fact my dad hates the texture of desiccated coconut so we always got more when we bought or made them ahaha!
Bunnings snags. The pinnacle of Australian cuisine.
Bunnings is a hardware warehouse chain very popular throughout Australia. Every Saturday a different group from the community sets up a spot outside the entrance to run a fundraising sausage sizzle (snag is slang for sausage). Sausage sizzle is basically a way of saying bbqing sausages. Cause of the sound the make! The sausages are served in a slice of white bread (buttered or unbuttered) with fried onions if you want, and any combo of yellow mustard, bbq sauce and tomato sauce (ketchup) you want!
Tumblr media
(Image from 9News)
They’re often overcooked, bordering on burnt, and that’s honestly the best part 😁

Dravid Tries New(?) Foods - Episode 2: Bread
Specifically whole wheat bread. All my life I've eaten white bread, which apparently lacks some stuff that whole wheat bread has, especially fiber, but simple momentum made it so that I never switched. One time mom got me some healthy bread she was trying, but it was... damp? Somehow? idk how or why you'd make damp bread, but it was not very pleasant. And a lot of healthy breads also had seeds and other Stuff on them, which was not fun; I like my food nice and homogeneous. Also at some point, somehow, I switched to sandwich rolls? I don't remember how that happened. They were also white bread so it didn't really matter. Anyway on this week's grocery shopping trip, I asked mom if she could find some whole wheat bread for me to try (without any Stuff on it of course) and she did, and I tried it.
And it was good. Unfortunately, because breadmakers are too scared of selling Just Bread, they sprinkled some weird bread flakes on the top, but they were soft and easy to ignore. And the bread was just. Good. Decent. Solid. Easiest diet improvement ever.

Not to be German am Main but gods I love bread. White bread, black bread, bread with seeds in it. Crusty crusts and soft crusts. Sliced and ripped and spooned from a can. And ohhh how I love to put things on my bread. Sliced cheeses and sliced meats. Sliced eggs with salt on it. Nut butters and chocolate sprinkles (thank you Dutch people). And ohhh how I love to dip my bread into soups and sauces. Bread in pea soup, Pizza rolls with my pasta, Naan with my curry. Fry it in oil. Melt cheese over it. Put cheese inside. Bake onions into it. Garlic bread. Carrot bread. Gods I love bread.

Three-Scuttle Bread Boat
There's nothing quite as indulgent as the scuttle bread boat, also known by the Telvanni as khachapuri. The traditional use of three types of scuttle, said to represent the Tribunal, is almost obscene for the average working Dunmer, making khachapuri a treat rather than an everyday meal. Topped with a cliff racer or kwama egg, this mouthwatering bread boat is best served immediately! Serves four.
You will need:
Bread:
1 tsp dry yeast
270g plain flour
55ml water
200ml milk
1 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for greasing
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
Filling:
2 eggs (one whisked, for brushing)
80g mature cheddar, grated
80g fresh mozzarella, chopped
80g feta, crumbled
1 tbsp butter
Crushed dried chilis or chili powder to serve, optional (and non-traditional)
Method:
Combine the yeast, sugar, salt, and flour. In a pan, bring the milk and water to a gentle simmer (you should be able to touch the water without burning yourself, about 25C/77F) and pour into the dry ingredients. Knead until smooth and stretchy, at least 15 minutes.
Add the olive oil to your dough, and knead for another 3-5 minutes so it sinks in. Pop the dough into a well-oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and leave to rise in a warm spot (out of direct sunlight) for an hour.
When the dough is about double in size, punch it down, then leave it to rise again for another 30 mins. When ready, shape the dough into a large oval, then roll flat until about 1/2cm thick.
For the filling, simply combine the cheeses and sprinkle into the boat. Sprinkle 1/3 of the cheese in a thick, neat line on the left side of the dough, and another 1/3 on the right. Take the edge of the dough and roll it over the cheese, then roll the outside diameter inwards gently a couple of times to form a raised lip. Sprinkle the rest of the filling in the middle.
This will therefore be a stuffed crust to start, as well as a method of keeping the outer edges raised! Finally, pinch or twist the ends together to a sharp point. This will help to contain the filling when it melts. Whisk one egg and brush over the entire bread, filling and all, until glossy.
Bring your oven to 230C/450F and bake on the middle shelf for 15 minutes, until the bread is firm and the cheese is melted. Remove from the oven, and make a deep well in the middle of the cheese by pressing down with a tablespoon. Scatter butter over the cheese. Crack the last egg into the well and return to the oven for 3-5 minutes, until the egg white is slightly cooked but still runny.
To serve, vigorously whisk together the cheese and egg with a fork until entirely combined (the egg will continue to cook in the hot cheese). Simply tear the bread apart with your hands to eat and dip. Sprinkle with dried chilis or chili powder if desired.

This is what your khachapuri should look like after scrambling the filling!

I'm sorry if this is random but I love the idea of Vendetta Leon going to a coffee shop with his younger girlfriend who orders a coffee that is literally 90% sugar and caramel while he just stands there and blinks at her like "....would you like some coffee with your sugar?"
I don't know, this just makes me laugh.
I say that with many things. like just yesterday I was holding her plate and piece of bread(her left arm still doesn't work from her stroke) while she buttered it. She piled the butter on there and I asked if she wanted some bread with her butter🤣

It had been a few weeks after the incident in New York, having gone back to work now. He was currently a day away from sent to the other side of the country for a Recon mission, solo.
Currently you were in the bathroom, putting a bottle and cheap plastic gloves in the bin while the shower ran beside you ran. Leon's hair grows quickly, but he had been given instructions by Hunnigan to die his hair with the specific missions he had been going on. He had been noticing a lot of the enemies he had been confronting knew who he was, his dirty blonde hair and slightly stubbled face being recognised at the famous Leon S. Kennedy. He looked scruffy and the die had made his hair thin slightly, but maybe it would help with not being so recognisable to his enemies.
"I was thinking.." Leon's voice speaks over the hissing and splashing of water through the open glass walled shower. You turn towards him watching the dark dye run down his pale body, his head turning towards you, locking eyes. "How do you feel about going to that café you like?" He asked, knowing the answer was going to be a definite yes.
Your face lights up, you knew it wasn't his favourite place to go to, but you absolutely LOVED how they did your coffee with 3 pumps of caramel, 4 spoons of white sugar and whipped cream sprinkled with chocolate drinking powder on top. You hadn't had it in FOREVER!
"Um, Yes! I would love to go there!"
"Great, once I'm dressed we can head there for breakfast." His ice blue eyes look in your direction from under his now black hair, it made them pop even more.
"Yay!" You clap with excitement and leave the bathroom, closing the door slightly behind you.
-----
Once out of the shower he gets dressed in his usual shirt, tight, yet flexible, skinny jeans and black leather jacket. He sees himself in the mirror after pulling the towel away from his head, just giving his hair another once over to help it dry quicker. He looked like a mess, his beard thick and almost now completely covering his chin, jaw line and upper lip. You hadn't expressed your thoughts on any of these changes so he didn't know if you liked it or not?
Walking out of the bathroom you were waiting for him, a cute, short summer dress, pale green with frills on the loose sleeves, the elastic around your wrists. It was a cooler day today, plus you would be on the back of his bike, so you had thick leggings on under the dress and hair tied back, still letting your fringe hang loosely in front of your face. You looked super cute.
"You're staring, Leon." You say as you walk up to him, pressing a kiss to his lips as you take his hand.
"Sorry, not my fault my girlfriend is the prettiest swan in the lake." Smooth.
"Alright, stop sucking up and let's go get some breakfast." You say pulling his hand towards the door, you already had your house keys on you and hand him his bike keys.
Leon hands you your bike helmet he had grabbed from atop the drawer beside the front doors. You had specifically not grabbed it trying to get out of wearing the helmet like Leon does, but he would always insist you wear it. Reluctantly putting it on you slide behind Leon on his Ducati and both of you wide off towards the centre of Washington. Pulling up in front of your favourite café he takes your helmet from you and follows you inside.
Standing side by side in the line you both look up at the black board menu on the wall. When it came to your turn to order you order your breakfast and drink, Leon ordering toast, with poached eggs, bacon and avocado, a side of scrambled eggs and a quarter strength decaf coffee. He leads you to a spot beside the window, sitting beside the plants that framed the glass. You sit there watching all the people and cars go passed, your elbows resting on the table, fingers intertwined with themselves in front of your chin.
"Did you want some coffee with all that sugar?" Leon says resting his arms on his edge of the square table. "That's not coffee you drink, it's a cake."
"What? of course it is! They still use the beans. I could say the same for yours, quarter strength decaf? Just drink hot milk." You teased.
"Well no kisses for you today, I'll get cavities."
"Alright, old man.. You'd give in anyway."
"You're right.." He smiled, you were, he would only be punishing himself if he didn't kiss you.

AI-generated donuts
If you're going to open a late-night donut shop, you're going to need a unique set of over-the-top donuts to set the proper festive atmosphere. But how to keep the ideas coming?
I decided to see what donut ideas I could get using OpenAI's GPT-3 text-generating models. I collected seven of the weirdest donuts and descriptions I could find (such as a pizza donut, or a dirt-themed donut), and presented them as a list for the AI to complete. I've drawn a few of the best donuts it added to the list.
Tumblr media
[human illustrations of some of the ai-generated donuts below]
When I say I used "GPT-3" for this project it's hard to be exact about it, because OpenAI often updates the models. The newest GPT-3 versions (as of May 2022) actually did the worst at this task - they kept presenting me with real donuts that they'd seen during their online training, and not even particularly weird donuts. They were trying to match what was most common online, not what I was asking for. But the original early-2020 GPT-3 models were more willing to deliver the weirdness. Here are some more of my favorite results from the various models!
The biggest model, DaVinci
Violet Beauregarde - A lemon glazed donut with blue raspberry eyes and a raspberry center The Candleberry Flu - A chocolate doughnut filled inside with ganache plus a dripping candle on top that's dripping liquid sediments Brick of Yum - A glazed doughnut sandwiching American cheese, with red pepper jelly inside The Confusatron - A doughnut sliced into three layers - vanilla, coconut, and chocolate, dipped in chocolate ganache and topped with sugar pearls that look like circuit boards The Purple Stuff - Chocolate, oreo, and purple stuff sprinkled with powdered sugar
Curie, the second-largest model
Heckleberry - A strawberry donut smothered with blueberry syrup and crushed vegan Crunchies Donut of Doom - Rainbow donut filled with Frosted Flakes, black sprinkles, and sour candy The Alligator Rising - A spiral donut, frosted with chocolate and filled with a filling of chocolate hard-boiled egg and green apple slices Hell Raisin - A jelly donut with a filling of peanut butter and hot dogs Dark Crystal - A donut filled with candy corn and white chocolate chips I ♥ My Gay Ex - A rainbow Jell-O donut with white frosting, red sugar sprinkles, and pink glitter Fish N' Chips – Topped with chocolate and tangy tempura-flavoured icing
Babbage, the second-smallest model
Mr Crepe - Topped with tapioca pudding, green sprinkles Little Red Apples - Topped with pumpkin bread crumbs and small red apples Chalkista - Stationary donut with chalk dusting Horns - Cupcake gripped in both of the animal’s horns Julius Rooms - A pair of bottomless donuts Doughnut Forest - A profusion of donuts spread throughout the French Quarter Flintlock fennec - bacon, fried okra, and burnt thermochromic alcohol Baffle - cocoa powder, giraffes, and vanilla wafers
Ada, the smallest and definitely weirdest model
Bath Roll - Three donuts melted hot on one side Friar Flats - Topped with tomatoes, honey, red paint and ceramic chili caps Ponder Owls - magical, yellow-feathered donuts covered in icing with puffiness and shine By Soul - filled with firecrackers, black bean dip, red pepper syrup, and watermelon Coconut Fun - Sulphure hasn’t been wiped off, a demon cake filled with coconut cream and pistachios Blood Donut - Creamy moist donut topped with spoonfuls of delicious blood Goofy Trick - the elephant, is a clown and it's all about tossing treats into his skull Spankin’ - Other-colored donut with a frying pan in the middle
Bonus content: More of Ada's weird donuts (plus some donuts made of antimatter??)
Also you can buy the donuts on a tea towel! Along with pies, cookies, and breakfast cereals.

Crystalline Gala Cuisine
Been a bit since I made a festival cuisine, and since my old ones have been circulating, I guiltily figured I should make one for the Gala before it ends.  Gaolers and Tundras are both herbivores (though Gaolers also eat meat), but I headcanon that like most herbivores they will opportunistically eat fish, insects, and meat when given the chance. The dishes have a bit more mixing than the previous cuisine; in the Icefield you eat what you can and as much as you can to survive. Potato Onions are my replacement for potatos, because FR needs potatoes (and citrus and tomatoes and wheat and rice and spices).
Seeker Stew- originally a stew of necessity for traveling Seekers, it was made of dried Sea Grass, small Cragside Mussels, canned Common Minnows, Sour Elk milk, and spoiled Turnips. The dish was transformed back home, using fresh Spinach, meaty Olympia Oysters, Jumbo Shrimp, new Potato Onions, and…sour Snowfall Elk milk. Funk is flavor!
Shalefin in a Fur Coat- this uniquely named dish is a layered salad, like the layers of a Tundra fur coat. It is made of finely sliced pickled Shalefin fillets, grated Potato Onion, Gradish, and Honeycrisp Apple, and chopped hard-boiled Flecked Bushrunner eggs. The key binding ingredient is a flavorful mayonnaise made of Elk tallow, Dappled Clucker yolks, and dill.
Bear in a Cave Dumplings-a favorite of the Fae scholars of the Frozen Sanctum. It is a boiled or fried Potato Onion dumpling filled with fried Wooly Bear, Wild Onion, and Dryad's Saddle. It can be served with melted Elk milk butter and Winter’s Delight jam or a white sauce spiced with dried Dusky Mealworm and imported Golden Pepper.
Tundra Grub- a dish named after the main protein of the dish: a sausage filled with Tundra Grub meat, Longneck-grown oats, and Elk blood. The sausage is fried along with strips of Tundra Cactus before being added to an earthy brown sauce of Mycena Mushroom and Earthworms. It is typically served with an unleavened flatbread made of rye or Longneck oats, or a mash of Potato Onion.
Woodland Turkey Dinner- this was once a seasonal dish, but now is common year-round. While the star of the dinner is the roasted Woodland Turkey, the side dishes are just as essential. The most common is: Deep Sea Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp stuffing, roasted Winter Brussel Sprouts with a Superberry vinegarette, Tundra Grub and Potato Onion mash with Mycena Mushroom gravy, and Stonecorn rolls with Elk cheese and White Lace Honeybee honey. And last but not least, a Cinnamon and Honeycrisp Apple pie. A heavy dinner said to put even Sentinels to sleep!
Trunk Cheese- not actually cheese, but a cold meat dish made of fresh Bullephant Trunk (or Mammophant, though it is not as tasty).  The meat of the trunk is removed and cooked in a mix of spices and Wild Onion, and then poured and set with gelatin in the skin of the trunk. Slices are cut from the trunk and served upon rye bread with strong Wild Mustard and pickled Gradish.
Edamame Soup and Pancakes- a popular yet odd combination of savory and sweet. This dish features a Chilled Edamame soup (heated of course, the chilled variety of plants grow better in the hot houses of Icefield) with large chunks of smokey Elk bacon, a sprinkle of thyme, and a dollop of Wild Mustard. The pancakes are made of nutty and mildly sweet Amaranth flour and served with Winter’s Delight jam. The soup is traditionally dished with a silver spoon, after a mighty Tundra king was poisoned by his favorite soup.
Warden’s Delight- a dessert, a snack, a spread upon rye bread, and a delight to every hatchie. It is a mix of Elk tallow, Spotted Seal or Wooly Walrus oil, fresh snow, and Winter’s Delight. As the mixture is whipped into fluffy peaks, it is traditional to sing “Warden’s Delight to fight off the night, no Shade or beast shall fill my sight. Drive away the hunger, drive away the cold, fill my belly and make me bold.”
Frozen Bouquet- flowers are rarity in the Southern Icefield, but this bouquet is made from flash-frozen flowers and fruits. After thawing they are quickly coated in a thin layer of crystalized maple syrup and then arranged into a bouquet. Often the bouquets have hidden meanings like Pretty Pink Mums for courting. Winterbelle for strength, and Wolfsbane for warning. But what every Tundra fears the most is a bouquet of Black Tulips.
Crisp Morning Cider- Vodka is life to Ice Flight, the warmth in one’s chest in a land where winter never ends. And while most drink it “neat”, when rations are low then cocktails are the answer!  This drink is a common morning warmer and is a mix of White Lace Honeybee honey with hot water, Vodka, Honeycrisp Apple cider, and Cinnamon.
Boreal Brew-a tea made from the leaves of whatever green tree is available. Birch, Fir, Spruce, and Pine can all be brewed into an astringent tea with a citrus-y aftertaste. Unfortunately, Birch, Fir, and Spruce are typically harvested during Spring-Summer- but Pine is harvested during December. To help remove the bitter taste, Pine can be fermented with sugar for a week to a month (fermentation time depending on temperature) and then filtered and served as cold tea.
