In elementary school, my first ever exposure to Warriors was Tigerstar and Sasha book, and I did not read it.

I looked at the cover, glanced it over, and put it back xD

It was it in like 6th grade middle school where I started reading Warrior Cats and found the first book Into the Wild lol

Years later, it hit me like a ton of bricks that I did have early exposure to Warriors after all, and I was flat out not interested at the time because my animal xenofiction interest hadn't developed yet xD lmao

Yeah seeing the covers can easily, instantly put someone off from actually reading it. Like I said before it's a shame that we always find ourselves (understandably) ranting and raving about the artwork and never think to stop and look into the deeper messages about the story, the arc that Sasha goes through and what she endures

But also that was an omen, Kit, it foresaw your indulging of the cat books years before

Blimbo what's your opinion on SSS warriors darkstripe

Really good interpretation of him. I know this is just because the other designs are just far more well known (FirePaw, GreyPaw, RavenPaw, TigerClaw, etc.) but I feel like this version of him is never talked about

Also the dark eyes they gave him is what really inspired me to give my DarkStripe design the black scleras (And it actually kickstarted the entire thing of me giving random characters (and dotc settlers) the black scleras as well(

Fun fact I also think that cats would mix up the ages of them both

Smudge is taller, a little stronger, and has more facial hair than his dad

So this makes every cat think that Smudge is the dad and Barley is the son

Barley doesn't show it visibly but he's a bit jealous that Smudge has a beard, like damn the beard genetics just skipped him

I know that the artists give the other cats those little dots on their mouths to represent whisker pads but in some panels, Smudge looks like he has a little bit of facial hair coming in

At most it's usually little chin scruff though. Whenever we see Smudge older, if he has a little beard I'm breaking my ribs (it means I'm happy)

Of course there's something to be said with the fact that this is seen as good with Tom, but as bad with Bumble (just misogyny again). But even if we put aside that the character in the situation is Tom, the characters seeing this instant loss of weight from such a short frame of time as being a good thing, and not having their views challenged or questioned in any way, not only serves as another case of fatphobia, but also provides a horrible idea/situation presented as good to younger readers

But then it's so fucking weird, because the arc goes from "Oh it's so good that they've lost so much weight, they're becoming a real warrior!" to, "Oh that's sad that they've lost so much weight, they must think that they're one of us. Pathetic."

Isn't it something that in Dawn of the Clans, the writers got away with praising the sudden, rapid loss of weight within a short amount of time
