So some hunters are definitely cheating these guardian games. I’ve played multiple supremacy games all against hunters and in each game I’ve had multiple hunters glitch out of firing range, or glitch outside of a room then back into a room when I’m reloading. If it had just been one or two hunters I’d blame internet craziness but every game, multiple hunters…definitely not just internet craziness…

rip gambit you will be missed 😔
Tumblr media
Don't even know what to say tbh.
For those that don't know, the big State of the Game article came out detailing incoming changes and adjustments and all the big stuff. Gambit was mentioned! But at what cost. Basically, they are ceasing any kind of support for Gambit. What we have now is what it is. We will get the Dreaming City map back in TFS and they will add Shadow Legion and Lucent Hive as enemy factions in TFS. That's all.
Full text:
As many of you have noticed, we’ve been quiet on Gambit since last year’s overhaul that launched alongside The Witch Queen. In that revamp, the team made significant changes across five categories in Gambit: core activity fundamentals, Primeval tuning, invasions, ammo economy, and rewards. Unfortunately, these updates didn’t move the needle for player engagement. Although we know our Gambit fans mostly care about new or returning maps, this is an area of the game with lower engagement that would take resources away from more popular parts of the game to shore up.   While we don’t have plans to dedicate more resources to significantly transform Gambit, we do have a few updates planned for the year of The Final Shape. These include porting the Cathedral of Scars map and its beautiful Dreaming City setting into the latest version of Destiny 2, as well as adding the Shadow Legion and Lucent Hive enemy types.
I don't know how to tell you this Bungie, but the reason "engagement is low" in Gambit is because Gambit sucks. Ever since half of it was removed with DCV, it just sucked. It has no variety, the gameplay is largely busted, it's not sufficiently updated, ammo changes suck, invasion cycle sucks (why is the enemy even getting a portal when their Primeval is at 5% health and the other team is still in mote collecting phase is beyond me), there are no cool armour sets to chase (just look at Iron Banner and Trials stuff, imagine dedicated cosmetics) and finally there are simply no weapons that are worth anything. Both Vanguard and Crucible have more weapons and also adept versions. There is zero reason to go into Gambit without major changes to Gambit. And now with the further changes to how playlists and challenges will work, there will be even less reason to go into Gambit. Observe:
Before then, we’re making Gambit entirely optional to maximize your rewards unless you’re looking for a piece of gear that’s specific to the mode. Gambit will continue to serve as a source of Exotic engrams via weekly challenges, though as we mentioned above, you’ll be able to complete all your weekly challenges in any ritual you’d like starting in Season 22. If you want to stick to Vanguard or Crucible challenges without touching Gambit, now you can.  We’re also reducing the number of Gambit-specific Seasonal Challenges starting in Season 22, so players won’t need to bank motes to be able to earn that big purse of Bright Dust for completing nearly every challenge in the Season. Finally, we’re adding Fireteam Matchmaking to Gambit next Season, which will replace the Freelance node and should result in faster, better matchmaking by combining both Gambit playlists. We’ll keep an eye on reception and player engagement after these additions take place, and we hope you’ll visit ‘ol Drifter next Season to get your hands on his new Void Machine Gun.
Ngl, but I don't think anyone besides like a total of 6 people will play Gambit next season. The incentive to go in there is completely removed. You won't even have to go in there for pinnacles or for challenges. The Void Machine Gun will not be enough of an incentive because the chance of that gun being better than two recently available craftable Void Machine Guns (Commemoration and Retrofit Escapade) is very low. And besides, once you get it at the end of your first match, you can leave Gambit forever.
This is the feedback loop that just reinforces the idea that people don't like Gambit. And I mean. Who would at this point. I'm pretty sure that if Crucible had stayed the same as it was at the start of Beyond Light, engagement would be low there too. But you know. Crucible has received major updates pretty much every season since with multiple new modes, several Trials overhauls, Iron Banner overhaul, competitive overhaul, new armours and weapons added and YES, even new maps. God forbid even 5% of these resources went into Gambit.
Anyway, this is the whole section about Gambit in 6500 words. It's basically a "you guys aren't playing this so we're doing the bare minimum of keeping it in the game as is, no new work will be done on it ever." Thanks I guess.
And for the record, something I also added while having a rant in my discord, I want to make it clear that I don't want anyone to spiral into a Bungie hate train. Even for this. I understand perfectly well what's the community attitude towards Gambit and what it's been for years now. People just don't like it and they're not incentivised to like it and they're actively encouraged to hate it. Spending resources into a game mode on the hope that maybe you can change people's minds would be insanity. Like, the amount of change Gambit would need to MAYBE start appealing to gamers would be beyond any reasonable time and resources Bungie can put in. And if you could guarantee that people would love and play Gambit then, fine. But you can't. Most likely, even if major changes happened, people would still just do their weekly stuff and bail. It's simply not worth it. In order for people to like it, it needs to be completely and thoroughly overhauled in a way that would need more time and effort than the entire Light subclass overhaul and it's just not a reasonable expectation, nor is it guaranteed to work. So I get it.
I'm still disappointed and annoyed about it because I believe it wasn't given a fair chance at all. I also know how good it can be and how Gambit Prime could've been improved upon over the years if they tried. Instead, it got removed and that was honestly the death sentence for Gambit. It's unfortunate. It's my favourite game mode that could've been so much better was it given even a fraction of attention of Crucible.
I'll still be playing it. You will find me in the Gambit queue waiting for 2 hours to find 7 other lunatics to play with, don't worry about it. But I'm absolutely incredibly sad about them being basically forced to axe the potential of the whole game mode that is incredibly creative and fits with the type of game Destiny is perfectly.
There's other interesting stuff in the article and some upcoming really cool improvements and changes to the game. But if you're a fan of Gambit in any capacity, this is a death certificate for the mode. I suggest coming to terms with it quickly because Bungie changing their minds about this is highly unlikely.

Downtime [Master Chief|John-117]
Feedback is always appreciated, let me know if you think it's too much detail or if there is something I can improve on.
It had been mission after mission after mission lately with no time in between to breathe. Not since the AI Cortana went rogue, taking over the system with her so-called guardians. But even Spartans reached a certain limit and stopped being useful, and it was fair to say you had reached it.
For the past three weeks, you hadn’t been on the UNSC Infinity for more than 5 minutes. Roland gave a quick briefing on the current Pelican, then out you went on the next and repeat.
This last mission had you clear out a Covenant outpost on a remote moon, and Roland had underestimated the numbers.
Another mission, another battle to fight, and you were over it. Even the AI could tell between the posture and snapping tone that the Spartan was at the wits end.
You could feel the exhaustion weighing you down as you left the pelican onto the Infinity. Your armor felt heavier than usual, each step a laborious effort. Even the Spartans fluttering about the Infinity on your way to the bridge seemed weary behind their hidden visors as they boarded on and off their own pelicans.
As you trudged through the corridors, you barely acknowledged the salutes given, the blur of faces clicked nothing in your brain.
Reaching the bridge, you were greeted by the familiar hum of machinery and the low murmur of voices as Roland's holographic form materialized before you announcing the Commander to the bridge and Captain Lasky. The debrief finished in the blink of an eye before Lasky approved you for 72 hours of downtime. It was obvious the Spartan was falling asleep between words. And the fact Commander Palmer was still on the field with her Fireteams meant he needed you in a better condition in case something happened. You nodded your thanks to Lasky, the relief at the thought of downtime causing your shoulders to slack. With a stiff salute to both Lasky and Roland, you turned on your heel and made your way down to the assemblage bay. RnR was the only thing on your mind until the ship’s AI decided to upload himself into the armor.
“Blue team was ordered manadorary 72 hours of downtime.” Roland casually brought up through the helmet audio, his tone hinting at something more. You knew what he was doing, the AI had always been privy to the nuances of life aboard the Infinity, including the relationships and dynamics between its crew members.
And Commanders.
And Spartans.
Plus, the fact that he was the only other sentient being on this ship that knew of the relationship between you and the Master Chief himself other than Blue team.
Hell, you don’t even think they told Dr. Halsey, but you haven’t seen any of the IIs for more than a quick wave, so who knows what’s happened in the last three weeks since the whole AWOL thing. Which, you still needed to tease John and others IIs about, who would have ever thought?
Speaking of the IIs, you and John had only crossed each other’s paths once for a few seconds and he had melted your heart with a quick pass of his fingers on your helmet, one you didn’t have the time to mirror before he was climbing into the awaiting pelican. But you did leave him a box of C4s and a single C12 (Lasky wouldn’t approve of anything more) on his next drop that Roland confirmed Blue team would receive, though you were sure Fred enjoyed that more than John.
“Love you, Roland but I’m ready to go ‘die’ for sixteen hours. I’ll see John when I see John, besides he’s probably doing stuff,” There was a brief pause. “Well, whatever IIs do.” And while you appreciated his concern, there was a part of you that hesitated. Everything had still been new, still was new aside from some hand-holding and teaching him about intimacy, like physical affections and a handful of kisses.
“Probably something you wouldn’t expect,” Roland answered with a tinge of amusement before disappearing. What the hell did that mean? Whatever, you were ready to strip, shower, and sleep till Lasky called you for the next mission.
The familiar hiss of pressurized seals echo in the space. Honestly, you weren’t sure how they got the armor off so fast or if you had fallen asleep while the machines worked.
Once free from the confines of your armor, you wasted no time heading for the shower. The warm water cascading over you was a balm to your tired muscles, washing away the grime and weariness of battle. After the shower, you dressed in comfortable civilian clothing, giving a small yawn while closing the locker and heading towards your quarters.
Spartan Town was buzzing with a lot less, well Spartans, than normal, everyone was getting their asses kicked. The crew was pulling doubles if not triple missions, no one wanted to think about their loved ones or if something had happened to them. Maybe that’s why you didn’t mind when Lasky kept giving you the solo missions one after another with an apologetic look, but this was why you were a commander.
The biometric scanner gave a soft ding as it accepted the handprint, sliding the door open with a small ‘whoosh’ to the dark interior of the room. But it was the faint outline on the bed that gave you pause.
This was what that sneaky AI meant.
You knew he knew it was you who entered the room. He didn’t even react like he was too comfortable on your bed. Who could blame him, though? Your bed was comfortable as hell, but you would have never expected to find the Master Chief on it.
Your foot falls silently as you approach the bed, dramatically draping yourself across the Spartan II. “John.”
“[Y/n].” Those beautiful blue eyes flashed open, a hint of amusement lingering in them. Maybe it was the pride speaking, but you had gotten good at reading this man within the last year and a half. You propped your head on your knuckles, your legs resting on his torso.
“John.” There was a sassy in your tone.
”[Y/n],”
“You lookin’ mighty comfortable there, 117.” You teased, a smile tugging on your lips. There was no hiding it, you had missed John these weeks. It was odd having someone so quiet, so polar opposite, be the person you were most comfortable around.
Fate was funny.
John's expression softened as he gazed down at you, a flicker of warmth in his eyes despite his typically reserved demeanor. His hand instinctively found its way to your back, a gentle touch that sent a shiver down your spine.
"You're one to talk, Commander," he replied, his voice low and gravelly. “Kelly had fun with your present, between her and Fred, they didn’t leave any for me. I believe she said and I quote ‘I’m going to kiss [Y/n] next time I see them.’”
You chuckled softly at John's response. "Well, I’ll just have to find a way to make it up to you, won't you?" You teased, rolling onto the unoccupied side of the bed. John's lips curved into a rare smile, a sight that never failed to make your heart flutter as he shifted the blanket, holding it up for you to maneuver under before settling it over your shoulder.
A long sigh escapes as you snuggle into the pillows, his hand tracing soothing patterns on your back as you close your eyes for just a moment to allow yourself to decompress. John never used more than a single pillow, which you often called him a sociopath for, leaving the rest for you. Three was the bare minimum for perfect sleep.
By the time your eyes fluttered back open, John was staring, facing you rather than the ceiling. The bed hadn’t even jostled suggesting that he moved, or maybe you had been too tired to notice. "I missed you," you admitted softly, the words slipping out before you could stop them, then were cut off by a yawn. John's hand paused for a moment, tapping a rhythmic answer before going back to the patterns that were lulling you towards sleep. A faint smile tugged at the corner of your lips, and you knew he had missed you too, the man didn’t need to say it.

Prompts: None
Tumblr media
A/N: Absolutely gorgeous he is.
Part 1 Here
(Y/N)’s POV
The sun coming through the curtains wakes me from my slumber but upon opening my eyes, I immediately shut them again because the sun is so much brighter than it should be. I roll over to find a bottle of water, some Asprin, a note, and my phone on charge. I don’t half remember last night to be honest. I know I got shitfaced in Maddie’s livingroom and look around me to find myself in one of her spare bedrooms. I reach over and pick up the note and read it, “Take two and chug. Don’t forget about breakfast at Athena and Bobby’s -Maddie” I do as directed and then check my phone to find a text from Hen that reads, “’A drunk mind speaks a sober heart.’ -Jean-Jaques Rousseau” there’s a video attatched so I make sure my volume is low so that it doesn’t burst my eardrums before opening it. I watch myself confess my feelings for Buck and flop back over to my back groaning once it’s over. I take a few deep breaths before getting up from the bed.
I mentally thank Maddie upon finding my duffle bag and shoes at the foot of the bed. I struggle out of last night’s clothes and into clean ones, yank on my shoes, and venture downstairs in hopes of finding my keys and slipping out without waking Maddie, Chim, or the kiddo. Unfortunately, no such luck as they have already beat me out of bed. I tip toe around the corner into the kitchen only to find Maddie standing at the counter sipping coffee as she lovingly watches Chim play with Jee-Yun. I sigh in defeat as she notices my entry and picks up my keys from the counter beside her, “How’re you feeling?” she asks as she tosses them to me.
“Like I got ran over by a train,” I laugh, “And embarassed,” I blush.
She smiles, knowing exactly what I’m referring to, “It’s alright. We all knew, we were just waiting for you to figure it out,” she winks.
It’s now that oblivious Chimney joins us with his adorable daughter perched on his hip, “Are we ready to head out?” Maddie and I nod so the four of us depart for the Grant-Nash residence. The entire way there I am contemplating just going home to avoid knowing and teasing looks from Maddie, Athena, Hen, and Karen all day but force myself to stay en-route because this has become a long standing tradition. One Sunday a month, the whole fireteam, their significant others, and their children gather at Bobby and Athena’s for a good old fashioned family breakfast. I ponder if I’ll even survive this one as I pull into the drive way and put my car in park but am quickly dragged out of my safety zone by Athena’s waving hand at the front door.
Buck’s POV
I shouldn’t have drank so much last night, I realize as I roll off the couch with a loud thump. From the kitchen, Christopher and Eddie giggle before Eddie cheers, “Good morning, Sleeping Beauty. Better get your ass up and get some Asprin in you and clean clothes on or we’re gonna be late to family breakfast.” I groan but know he’s right. I swipe my phone off the coffee table before making my way to the kitchen for Asprin and then to the bathroom to change clothes. I have a text from Eddie that reads, “Maybe just show her this since you can’t ever figure out how to tell her yourself,” attatched is a video so I press play to listen as I change clothes. By the time the video ends, I have my hands pressed to the counter and am staring down at my phone in shock. Maybe Eddie’s right. Apparently drunk me has a talent for explaining how I feel that sober me does not.
I grabbed my phone and exit the bathroom to make my out of Eddie’s place, declaring to him on my way out, “Don’t say a word,” feeling his amused look on the back of my neck I feel a blush creep to my cheeks, “Stop it. Don’t give me that look.” Soon, the three of us arrive at the Grant-Nash household and I have to elbow Eddie in the ribs when we see (Y/N) getting out of her car due to the grin on his face.
Third Person POV
The breakfast gets along almost as it always does. Lots of chit chats and laughter. The ladies send teasing looks toward (Y/N) when Eddie asks how their night went but (Y/N) ignores them and they simply say it was quite interesting and elaborate no further. Eddie saw the looks though and makes a mental note to ask Hen or Maddie about it later. Several times Eddie caught Buck glancing or staring at (Y/N) and shot him a teasing grin over Christopher’s head. Buck brushed it off with a glare everytime.
As mentioned, things aren’t quite the same as usual. As is normal, Bobby sits at the head of the table with Athena to his right followed by Harry, May, Karen, Hen, and (Y/N). To his left is Jee-Yun in a high chair followed by Chimney, Maddie, Eddie, Christopher, and Buck. Usually, Buck would playfully kick at (Y/N) under the table and she’d snatch food off his plate, mostly his fruit. They would get carried away in their own conversation and their fits of giggles and laughter would ring out over the other conversations happening but when anyone would look their way to question what is so funny they’d be too distracted to give an answer. Everyone always got a kick out of their playful behavior. However, today there was no playful kicks under the table or food snatched off of plates. The two couldn’t even look each other in the eye, too embarassed by their confessions last night that the other had no idea about. Although they did sneak glances toward each other when the other wasn’t looking. When Christopher has Buck’s attention or Buck is arguing about how a call went with Chimney over three heads, (Y/N) watches him out of the corner of her eye but pretends to be focused on something else or collects a bite of food if he happens to look anywhere near her direction. When (Y/N) is watching Jee-Yun giggle as her father makes airplane noises circling a small bite of pancake toward her mouth or listening in on the conversation between Hen, Karen, and May, Buck admires her subtly over the rim of his coffee cup but as soon as (Y/N) returns her gaze to her plate or someone near him he too distracts himself with something else. This odd behavior did not go unnoticed by the other adults at the table or even Christopher who would normally be too busy giggling at the pair’s antics to eat.
The young boy also happens to be the first and only one to call the two out on the peculuarity of it all, “Buck? Why are you not kicking (Y/N)? And you haven’t stole any of his fruit,” he adds looking to her.
The adults all grin as Harry also chimes in, “Yeah you guys have been quiet.”
May nudges her brother and shakes her head as their mother speaks up, “I think they just don’t feel too good today. Maybe they didn’t get enough sleep.” Christopher and Harry exchange a look that says they don’t believe that one bit but a different conversation is picked up by the adults to shift the attention off of the two.
(Y/N) risks a glance at Buck, wondering what his reaction is but he had also taken the same risk. The two lock eyes but quickly look away. In attempts to escape the situation and catch the breath that had been stolen by looking into his bright blue eyes (Y/N) excuses herself from the table saying her still bruised ribs are bothering her and she needs to stretch.
Once safely in a bathroom, (Y/N) stares at herself in the mirror trying to decipher what it was that she saw in his eyes. Buck always has shown exactly how he feels through his eyes but today she can’t quite make out what exactly that is. She sighs heavily just as someone knocks on the door.
Out in the dinning room, Buck has excused himself as well giving no particular reason but the adults need not ask because they know exactly why. As soon as Buck is out of earshot, Eddie leans forward to look at all the ladies in turn before asking, “What exactly happened last night?” The women all look at each other seeming to silently debate about spilling the beans.
Chimney and Bobby look at each other as well before Bobby adds, “I would like to know as well but you seem to have something to share too.”
May giggles, “It’s like a Mexican stand off of exciting stories.”
Chimney retrives a coin from his pocket, “Heads, Eddie is up first. Tails, one of you ladies are gonna have to spill.”
Everyone nods as Maddie looks down the hall, “Might want to be quick and quiet about it.”
Chimney flips the coin and it comes up tails so Maddie wiggles in her seat and props her elbows up on the table, placing her fingers together. She takes a dramatic pause despite her warning to hurry up before explaining, “(Y/N) got plastered last night and we now have video proof as confirmation that she has feelings for Buck.”
“I knew it!,” May whispers excitedly.
Eddie lightly smacks Maddie on the arm, “You’re telling me they both confessed on the same night to separate people but have no idea?” Everyone looks to Eddie in shock, “Yeah, he had a few drinks last night and apparently drunk Buck has an easier time with putting his feelings into words. I got it on video”
Hen laughs, “A drunk mind speaks a sober heart.”
Everyone excitedly yet still remaining quiet cheers before Bobby settles them down, “Those videos stay with those who took them and we don’t mention this around them. Understood?” Everyone nods except Eddie and Hen who give Bobby a guilty look. He responds to their looks with one of suspicion, “What did you two do?” In unison the two videographers confess that they sent their video to the corresponding subject.
Hen adds, “I figured if she had the video she could just show it to him when she’s ready.”
Eddie nods in agreement, “I literally told him it might be an easier way of telling her if he can’t find the words while sober.”
Bobby grins and shakes his head as Athena chimes in, “We’ll see. For now, let’s talk about something else so they’re not suspicious of us when they come back.”
Back in the bathroom, (Y/N) responds to the knock at the door, “Who is it?”
“It- it’s me,” comes Buck’s voice from the other side.
(Y/N) takes a deep breath before unlocking and opening the door to let him in. She hops up to take a seat on the counter as he enters and closes the door behind him. They both stare at their hands, nervously fidgeting with anything they can until they both speak at the same time, “I’m sorry, I’m just-” They stop, staring at each other with red all over their cheeks.
Normally, Buck would be a gentleman and let her go first but he just had to get this off his chest before he chickened out, “So, I got drunk last night. You know that saying drunk words are sober thoughts?” (Y/N) nods thinking back to the text Hen had sent with the video just this morning. Buck continues, “Well, Eddie caught my drunk words on video last night and... well,” he pulls his phone out of his pocket, unlocks it and navigates to the video Eddie had sent before handing it to her, “Just watch it. Sober me 100% agrees with every word.” He looks at her with such scencerity on his face that it makes her heart skip a beat. The two sit in silence as she watches the video. Buck shifts nervously on his feet, scanning her face for her reaction and she smiles. His heart soars with hope that she feels the same way.
When the video ends, she hands his phone back to him before retrieving her own from her back pocket, unlocking it, navigating to her own video and then, “Drunk words are indeed sober thoughts and drunk me is pretty damn good at sharing things that sober me can’t. I too agree with every word she said,” she says, handing her phone to him. He watches with a massive grin on his face as one plasters itself on her’s as well. There’s not an ounce of fear or nervousness left in her after having seen his video. She thinks to herself that if she has the honor of marrying the man in front of her one day, it’s only right that Eddie be his Best Man and Hen be her Maid of Honor.
Once the video ends, Buck places her phone on the counter beside her and leans in close with a grin still on his face only now it has a slight hint of cockiness to it, “I guess the only thing to do now is ask you to be my girlfriend. So will you?”
As he hooks his finger under her chin and lifts it to align their lips, the distance between them shrinks even more. He can feel her breath on his lips when she affirms, “Obviously,” so he glances down at her lips before looking into her eyes. She inches closer, encouraging him to close the distance, and he does. They share the same thought as the slow, love filled kiss takes place and that is, “I love you.” When they begrudingly pull apart, and make eye contact, there’s no need to voice the thought as for one, their drunk selves already did but also, it’s seen in their eyes.
Buck pulls even further away before placing his hands on her hips. He leaves them there for a moment, observing her reaction and somewhat looking for a nudge to continue his movements. She tilts her head, “What?”
He says nothing at first, simply sliding his hands from her hips to place them on either side of the mirror on the wall behind her caging her in. He leans in close and brushes his nose against her’s, making her eyes flutter shut. When she opens them he’s just barely retreated, tilted his head, and is grinning from ear to ear. Feigning forgetfulness he asks, “What was that you said you wanted to do? It was something to do with my arms. Maybe you could remind me?”
A mishevious grin with a hint of shyness to it replaces the look of curiosity on her face but is quickly replaced with a false sense of innocence as she lays her head over on his right arm. She stays there for a moment reveling in the eye contact between his now sultry eyes and her own wide eyed innocent ones before turning her head slightly to nuzzle her mouth and nose against his arm. A breath catches in Buck’s throat as she suddenly opens her mouth to lay her tongue against his bicep, slowly dragging it up before recoiling it back behind her teeth that she uses to nip softly against the skin covering the toned muscle. The sound that left his throat is one that she will remember for years to come and want to elicit from him again many times over. However, she simply lays her head back against his arm with a teasing look on her face, “We should get back out there before they come looking and find us in a scandalous situation.”
Buck huffs, knowing she’s right and stands up straight removing his hands from the wall to help her down from the counter. (Y/N) quite likes it when he lifts her by her waist to place her feet on the ground and has to stop herself from wondering what it would be like for him to toss her into bed as he takes her hand in his. He doesn’t exit the bathroom just yet but instead tugs her close, hooks his finger under her chin once more to whisper against her lips, “Fine, but you’re sitting in my lap to cover the situation you’ve caused in my pants.” She giggles and nods before opening the door herself and tugging him along behind her.
All eyes are on the two love birds as they reenter the dining room causing blushes to creep onto both of their faces and Buck to discretely scoot just a little closer behind her in hopes of hiding the afforemention situation better. He takes his seat, promptly pulling her into his lap which makes everyone whoop and holler in excitement. Eddie passes Maddie a twenty dollar bill which provokes a confused look from both (Y/N) and Buck.
Maddie grins triumphantly, “I bet that the videos would be exchanged today. Eddie didn’t think you guys had it in you.”
Eddie rolls his eyes as Athena calms everyone down, “You two didn’t... in the bathroom did you,” raising her eyebrows to insinuate naughtier acts than just exchanging videos. (Y/N) and Buck shake their head no immediately to which Athena replies, “Good.”
The conversation soon returns to things other than the new couple at the end of the table. (Y/N) has an arm around Buck’s shoulders playing with his hair while his arm is wrapped firmly around her waist. His other hand is placed on her knee, even though he wants it to be higher, and he leans in to whisper in her ear, “You’ll have something in you if we can ever sneak away. I just didn’t bend you over in there out of respect.” (Y/N) slaps his chest with her free hand but Buck simply returns his attention to the group around the table and includes himself in the conversation. Under her, (Y/N) can still feel the situation and knows he’s not joking. She has to fight to keep from imaging what all they could get up to today.

//frustrated vent under the cut. feel free to ignore
//Y'know what would be great? If Bungie actually made a novelization of Destiny so we knew how the Last City actually worked.
//Bc lemme tell you, there is nothing more frustrating than wanting to build a crossover and having the equivalent of scattered sticky notes compared to a multi-volume encyclopedia. Trying to balance and scale power to make au's fair and fun for everyone is not easy when you don't have good enough source material to go on.
//bc lemme tell you, it feels really scummy of me watching Bad Batch tonight and having to be like "yeah, Crosshair would take out entire fireteams before they knew what was happening." because we really just don't have any idea how the Vanguard or Hidden are structured. And we have no idea what kind of training Guardians get because in game you don't get training. You learn as you go and get lucky if you find people who know what they're doing better than you. There is no training, only encouragement.
//I know we have loretabs about Shaxx training guardians for his Crucible, specifically 1 lore tab about how to take care of your gear, and 1 of Shaw with a class/crowd of newlights during the Lucent attack. But that's all I can find.
//We really don't know their command structure beyond gun-crazed raccoons answering to the main Vanguard directors (Ikora/Zavala). But that's not stable and it's definitely not sustainable. Nor is the Vanguard running everything else in an attempt to keep everything together in the Last City.
//Even Ikora says the Vanguard was never meant to be a political or ruling organization. It was strictly for protecting the Last City, for recruiting and training Lightbearers to prevent Dark Age Warlords from springing up again.
//If the Republic (old or new) came to town, they'd find a sick, barely inhabitable world with a single safe city and a weird inversion of the death star sitting right above it. Sol wouldn't even be worth being noticed by the Empire, and if it was noticed, it wouldn't take much to slag this sparsely populated system - Uluran, Eliksni, Hive, Vex, or not.
//Idk guys, I'm trying to build something worth being proud of but like, it definitely sucks when you can't balance out skill, power, and advancement stats. it really feels like a no-win scenario

Where do I even start???
The showcase had so much. I guess I’ll start with the new seasonal stuff since that’s a lot less spoiler-y and we can play it today!! (I keep forgetting that).
Season of the Witch
We’re going full Hive Mode this season, baby. Eris becoming a pseudo-Hive God. More ways to build craft with literal card deck building. A void scout rifle >.>. Crota’s End. The bastard Immaru. SICK armor. And was that a Hive Boomer we get to slug around??? I’m sure I’ll have more to say about it as it goes on but this season looks like another knockout.
Spoilers under line:
The Final Shape Reveal
Of course we can’t say too much yet just because there’s a lot we don’t know. BUT, there’s a ton of stuff we do.
New supers for the Light subclasses look insane. Warlock Radiance super is back. Titan spawning void axes for their whole fireteam. Teleporting hunter shenanigans. New aspects to go with them. It all looks great.
The story implications are WILD. And the space inside the traveler…beautiful, overwhelming, massive, mysterious. I just…UGH I need it now.
New in game LFG looks great. New hinted exotics are crazy. Traveler-esque trace rifle and a Golden Gun sniper?? Yes please. Also an explanation of the new content structure moving forward. “Episodes” will replace seasons in the year following final shape. Looks similar to previous expansion roll outs. We’ll have to see more to know if it’s gonna be any better but I’m hopeful!
I’m missing a lot but there was so much thrown at us, 3 watches later and I’m still overwhelmed. What a great time to be a real Destiny fan. That said has Reddit/Twitter/YouTube shut the fuck up yet or are they still trying to act like they know better?

So, I wrote a little something a while ago about Destiny 2.
“So what’s it gonna be, kid? Me, or them?”
Drifter knew the answer as soon as the guardian looked at him. THE Guardian, capital G. She smirked at him without humor, matching his expression, and sadly shook her head.
“Sorry, Drifter,” she said in her Scandinavian lilt. “I like you, but I do not trust you.”
Drifter sighed. Of course she’d side with the Vanguard. No one had logged more strike hours, more Cabal leadership taken out, or lost engrams found. Besides, she was a Titan, cut from the same cloth as Zavala and Sloane. The self-styled Fylla Skorrisdottir she called herself, one part of the most glorious and celebrated fireteam in the City. ‘Skorrisdottir,’ after one a’ them dead Iron Lords. Her armored frame stood nearly a foot taller than him, arms crossed, her body encased in shimmering dark-blue armor of clearly Awoken make. Drifter liked her better in his Gambit duds, of course. He realized the fact she rarely wore them should have tipped him off to her allegiance.
She noticed him looking her over, and arched an eyebrow. “More to say? I almost hoped you’d be angry.”
Drifter smiled at her in his easy, winning way, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes. “Oh I’m not angry,” he said, with a gesture as to wave the idea away. “Just, disappointed is all. I thought we were tight, you and me.”
The Titan shook her head again, more resigned than sad. “As I said, I cannot trust you.” She had been tricked before, too often, and was tired of being used as a pawn. “For your own sake, I hope what they’re saying about you isn’t true. One shred of proof that it isn’t true, and I would be honored to stand beside you. But you keep too many secrets.”
Drifter laughed, hard-edged and humorless. “That’s what you’re worried about? You think your pal Zavala ain’t got any secrets? Or hell, Osiris? Mara?” He leaned in, grinning. “They’ve got secrets like you wouldn’t imagine.”
“But I know where they stand. You play like a gameshow host, but I don’t know what you stand for.” Fylla leaned away from him, with a look on her face like his breath smelled like Cabal underarmor. “Or what you stand against.”
“I stand against the darkness, sister!” Drifter cried, spreading his arms to gesture at the room around them, and by extension the City. “You’ve seen what’s out there. You know what’s comin’! You tellin’ me you’d rather sit and wait for ‘em?”
The Titan shook her head again, dismissing him. “Then what are you doing? What is Gambit for, practice?” Drifter grimaced as she continued. “Keeping secrets is one thing, Drifter. But what they say about you, what they say you are up to… frankly, it scares me. And the Vanguard have always been up front with me.”
Drifter couldn’t help but laugh. “I scare ya? Hell, I’ve seen you and your pals walk unflinching through Taken fire, shooting your guns made outta the bones of a wish-dragon. And you’re saying you’re afraid of little ol’ Drifter?” He leaned in again, the picture of innocence, smiling sweetly. Fylla opened her mouth to speak, but he cut her off.
“Don’t worry your pretty little head about it then,” he said, turning away and pretending to look busy. “I get it: ya got principles. A duty,” he practically spat. “I admire that, stickin’ to your guns.” He turned back and sized her up, his eyes unreadable. “You won’t mind then that I’m stickin’ to mine.”
Again, Fylla opened her mouth, and evidently thought better of it. She gave him a wry smile, and a different expression that Drifter hated: pity. “I will see you in Gambit, yeah?” She said finally, before turning to walk away. The Drifter watched her go, her heavy footfalls muffled by thick dust.
Then she broke into a short sprint, hopped, and flew away, speeding just above the ground and out of sight.
Drifter snorted. Titans. “As long as you play it right, snitch!” he called after her.
Some time later, while reviewing his latest performance data, the Drifter heard the telltale sounds of footsteps approaching his Annex. He turned in time to see a shiny blue Exo come bounding around the corner, yellow eyes glowing in the dim light of the bank behind him. “Ay yo, Drifter!” said the figure, his voice metallic and modulated.
Ah, now this one Drifter liked. Pariah-1, this one called himself. Chose the name because it sounded cool, just like the Drifter. The second part of the Fireteam of Godslayers, an Exo Hunter just like the late Cayde-6. Even blue, too.
Pariah-1 looked as excitable as ever as he approached, a handful of glowing Prime Synths in his outstretched hand, but Drifter knew he’d been going through something of a hard time. Everyone in the City mourned the loss of the well-known Hunter Vanguard, but (it seemed to the Drifter) no one took it harder than the Hunters. Cayde had been something of a father figure to most, if not all, of the wayward explorers, and Pariah-1 looked up to no one more. He had seen Cayde as a mentor and friend, and gave him a much-needed feeling of belonging after waking up alone in Old Russia those years ago. Pariah-1 had just as many epic feats to his name as Fylla, perhaps even more, but she was a Titan, and reveled in stand-up, knock-down drag-out fights, and Pariah-1 was more inclined to explore, poking around abandoned places and whittling down his enemies with guile and ambush. Without Cayde, Pariah-1 threw himself into his work more than ever, sometimes being absent from the City for months at a time. Despite all that, Drifter noted, he’d always show up for some Gambit.
The Exo handed off some bounties, picked a few more, and spread some gossip about useless teammates and close calls. The conversation moved on to current events, and Drifter figured it was time to ask the question.
“So what’s it gonna be, kid? Me, or them?”
Pariah-1 glanced around the chamber, his robotic brow furrowed. “Has Fylla come through here yet?”
“Nope,” Drifter lied. Pariah-1 was a good kid, a good Hunter, but he made few decisions on his own. Drifter didn’t want them coming to any kind of consensus. Drifter hated that word.
“I’m with you.” The Exo’s yellow eyes burned in the darkness. “I know the stakes. Besides, I can’t just turn my back on a fellow Guardian!” He threw an arm around the Drifter, who matched the gesture good-naturedly.
“Now that’s what I like to hear! You and me, we’re thick as thieves.” He produced a jade coin from nowhere and tucked it into Pariah-1’s vest, then patted the spot a few times. “You’ll see,” he said, the two of them admiring the soft glow of the Motes of Dark suspended in their bank. “Just trust in ol’ Drifter, and we’ll make this place right as rain.”
He glanced sidelong at Pariah-1, who was staring hard into the bank. Exo faces were hard to read, but this one had ‘righteous fury’ written all over it.
“They investigated me too, you know,” said Pariah-1 after a moment. He made a noise in his non-throat like a scoff. “Me and Fylla both. Said it was suspicious, the way Cayde died with us there.” The Exo glowered even more, turning to look at the Drifter. “Suspicious! Us! They wasted who knows how much time and energy making sure we didn’t murder our friend!”
Drifter smiled softly, knowingly. “Oh, I know. They sure got a strange way of rewarding service, don’t they.”
Pariah-1 looked at the ground. “I just don’t know where their loyalties lie. One minute they’re declaring this a new golden age, gonna take humanity to the stars. The next, they chastise like schoolteachers and refuse to bring justice to those who deserve it.” His hand idly went to the big hand cannon on his hip, one Drifter had seen before only in nightmares. Pariah-1 looked up at the Drifter and smirked, patting the gun. “Guess I got the justice now, huh?”
The Drifter eyed the gun, but looked back up to the Exo’s face. “Glad to have you on my side, brother.”
“Anytime, Drifter.”
They stood for a moment, then Pariah-1 stuck out his hand. Drifter grinned and took it, shaking it firmly. “See you on the Derelict,” he said, in his comfortable drawl.
Pariah-1 nodded and began to saunter away. Then he broke into a short sprint, slid halfway out the door, and leapt high into the air. He was still jumping as he disappeared around the corner.
Drifter smirked to himself. Hunters.

Ok ok I Know I’m being a fucking hypocrite when I say I’ve started thinking about ways to make the Fireteam Buckaroos approach work for Lightfall after writing all that about Xira but listen just hear me out
Right now I’m focused on rearranging the strand plotline to fit into the main vs calus/witness narrative and I thought that maybe the “interwoven threads that connects every living consciousness” power could be better tied (lol) to the witness taking over ghost like we see in the cutscenes. it’s spoken to us through our ghost before, certainly, but this is the first time (that I know of at least. I haven’t read every single lore tab about it forgive me) that it’s used our ghost as a proxy of sorts to communicate with someone else, namely calus, through the broken glass powerpoint transition effect. I was thinking about maybe furthering that, have the witness speak through our ghost as normal at first, and then as we grow closer and closer to mastering strand it starts doing those glass facetime calls, first solely visible to us, then physically present by the end. the illusion of heightening the stakes as it gets closer to its goal through the use of our own determination to stop it. something like savathun in wq but isn’t dropped as a midpoint twist so as to give guardians any fighting chance. whatever the opposite of a deus ex machina is. the devil ascending from below at the end of the story to utterly wreck any chance of hope the characters thought they had at the very end
So, fireteam buckaroos re: That cutscene. Ravan, one of the titans on the team, is the one I’ve decided to link the closest with calus/the leviathan in general so of course he’s going to be there at the finale. Caoilinn too, given that she’d be intrigued by the notion of a barely post-golden age ishtar facility and the nature of the veil as something of the light as well. she would want to take the thing apart piece by piece but that’s an issue for another day. in their own little three-man setup, that leaves Kai, who throws himself headfirst into dangerous territory with a “don’t fucking tell me what to do” attitude simply because it would piss the vanguard off the most at the time, who not only accepts but embraces the chance to follow the dark and turn away from the light because the light is pain and subjugation but the dark is freedom, who by the end has cultivated the mastery needed to fully harness strand and its infinite web of paracausality
And Kai is perhaps the only member of fireteam buckaroos who would hesitate to point a weapon at their own Ghost and take the shot

Aryn missed Calus.
It was a difficult thing to admit. So, she didn't. Not to anyone; not even to her own Ghost. Though Orion had seen worse in her heart before than that.
People did notice, of course, that she still bore some of his golden gifts. A weapon with purple emboss, its origin having slipped her mind, made several Warlocks at the HELM glare at her until she brought it to Banshee to have it disassembled.
She mourned it as he took it apart. Its gleaming components were no longer any different than any of her other ones. She did not say a word.
"So many Guardians taken in by a monster," Zavala said at a strategy meeting. "Most have renounced him, of course, but the fact that it happened at all..."
"The treasures of the Leviathan have lured many a stout mind," Ikora cautioned. "And not just among Guardians. Power is always tempting."
Aryn nearly broke the HELM transponder as she listened. Her hands longed to punch something.
They didn't understand... though maybe that was a good thing.
"I saw it from the beginning, of course," one triumphant Hunter proclaimed at a bar one night. "Calus was rotten to the core. I called it, didn't I? I said, right after the Red War..."
Her words dissolved into a chorus of agreement from her friends. Aryn drank and tried not to listen.
"My father poisons his words to draw in the unwary and deluded," Caiatl said, another night, over her comms.
"I don't know," Crow said, as the infestation of the HELM grew more severe. "I think... there will always be people seeking power. And Calus was willing to give it to them. I can't really blame them for not seeing through it."
Aryn tried her best not to say anything. She dealt more cards for a game neither of them really knew how to play.
"I just... want to think I'm better than that, now," he continued.
Aryn begged him to understand with her eyes, but as Crow averted his gaze and drew, she thought she had never been more angry in her entire life.
What must it be like, she wondered? To leave monstrousness in your past, your greatest problem people confusing you for someone you weren't anymore?
She could confirm that the other way around sucked. Other people holding on to the image of a magnificent hero, averting their eyes from who you were now.
Maybe there was an Aryn who could have agreed with him, but she was gone. She died in the Red War, maybe, when she lost her fireteam, her home, her... anonymity.
And it was Calus who picked her up again. Who assuaged all doubt in her mind.
She had asked him, one night, why it was her and her alone the Traveler had picked to save the Last City.
Why, he said, surrounded by the bright and infinite treasures he rained upon her, because you deserved it. You deserve all of this, and more.
Okay, she thought now, feeling the egregore choking the hallways of the ship and Crow's concerned eyes on her.
She made her excuses and left the game.

Riven had scared Sobek, and scarred him severely. The once handsome face was etched with deep wounds that had, for a long time, refused to heal. Not to mention the mental scarring that followed.
The giant exo was very intimidating, with his stature and scars, and armory. No one went out of their way to speak to him, in fact, many spent their time actively avoiding him. Fine, he thought, he didn’t need them anyways.
But out of everyone in the Tower, it was The Drifter that was the kindest to him. Perhaps the old Rogue was going soft, or maybe he saw a kindred spirit in the old Titan, but it didn’t really matter.
What did matter, was that Sobek greatly enjoyed Gambit. It gave him an excuse to let loose, to let the Beast be free for a moment in time. It was oddly therapeutic, and at least he could console himself that this way, he couldn’t attack teammates on accident.
But the hardest part about Gambit for the exo, was finding a fireteam to do it with. Most people would rather take the penalty of leaving then risk being on a team with him, even if he often secured them a victory from his ruthless invading.
But, he knew The Drifter had his back. For the most part anyways. The old Rogue Lightbearer had never once failed to find a team crazy enough to allow Sobek to join them. Well, except one time, but that was more Sobek’s own fault then Drifter’s.
But when Sobek approaches the Annex, he pauses, seeing an unfamiliar face chatting to the Drifter. He stops short, head tilting to the side.
Drifter’s eyes lock with the familiar helmet, and he grins, gesturing to the Exo. “Peixe! This is the guy I was tellin’ you about. Sobek, this is Peixe, Peixe, Sobek.”
Sobek blinks behind the mask, and registered the weird feeling in his gut. It wasn’t a bad feeling, it just felt..out of place. It was something he hadn’t felt in a long time. He extends a hand to her, wincing slightly as she pauses, her eyes on those sharp claws. And then her own hand extends, ever so slightly caressing those claw modifications with something like awe, before quickly clasping his hand.
The Awoken woman clears her throat, and smiles up at the giant exo. “It’s nice to meet you! Drifter uh, said you don’t have a fireteam to do Gambit with. Me and my friend were about to join a match, and we have room for another if you’d like!”
Sobek stares at the woman, shifting as that odd feeling in his stomach intensifies. “Are you sure you wouldn’t mind me joining? I can get..intense in a fight.”
She smiled then, a bright smile, one that could light up a room. “I don’t mind! And I’m sure Darrix would mind either, so long as you can share the invading portal.”
Sobek grunts, shaking his head. “I can’t promise that. I like invading a lot. But I can try.”
“That’s all we can ask!” Peixe’s smile didn’t drop, but Sobek noticed her hands fidgeting with her robes.
“Well!” Drifter breaks the silence, grinning broadly. “Looks like you lot will make a good team. You need any bounties big man?”
Sobek shakes his head. He still hadn’t completed the bounties he’d gotten earlier.
“A’ight, then you all better hurry up, match’ll start in ten minutes.”
Sobek wasn’t one to often feel very anxious when going into a Gambit match. Win or loose, he’d still get his payment, and that’s what mattered. But now? He was fidgeting with the cloth mask hanging from his helmet, trying to make sure it was centered. He wanted to do good, he wanted to win for this woman. He wanted to impress her. But why? What was pulling him to her like that?
Peixe. He liked that name. It felt good on his tongue, and he couldn’t help but repeat it a few times as he sat in his jumpship, waiting for the signal to transmat onto the Derelict.
Peixe, Peixe, Peixe.
That was all he could think about. Just that name, and the way her eyes hand landed on him, and the way her green hair had a seemed to glitter in the light of the Annex. So caught up in his own thoughts, he almost missed the signal.
He felt movement beside him, and glances down at his Ghost. Cleo chirps at him, floating herself just above his head. “You alright? You seem a little wound up. Like a spring ready to launch off.”
Sobek coughs, shaking his head. “I’m alright.” And then he pauses, looking up at Cleo, almost suspiciously. “Why?”
“I just want to be sure. We can still back out if you’re not feeling up to it.”
“No! I want to do this. I need to do this. Please.”
Sobek stands up, towering over his Ghost, but he gently cups her shell with those clawed hands. “But can you do me a favor?”
Cleo tilts slightly to one side, but chirps her acknowledgment. “Of course. What do you need?”
He hesitates, feeling something twitching in his shoulder. “If I get too aggressive, if the Beast starts leaking out, you stop me. I don’t want to hurt this lady or her friend.”
Cleo couldn’t help but feel a deep worry forming in the center of her shell. “I’ll try my best.”
“Thank you.”
——————————————————
There was always a rush as the transmat system fired, and you were placed in the Gambit arena; that rush of excitement and nerves and passion. It felt good. It felt better then good, it was exhilarating.
Sobek wasted no time in charging out into the open, past the Mote Bank, and straight for the horde of Cabal loitering beside a wrecked ship. He shoulder charges a Psion, but pauses briefly as he sees that glimpse of green beside him. She was entrancing, even in battle. The way she swayed when dodging the sword, how her hands flexed as she lobbed a grenade at the offending Cabal.
His attention finally catches back onto the fight, and he roars out a battle cry, chasing after another Cabal into the shallows of the water.
It was sometime during the second wave of enemies that the High Value Target appeared. If they killed that enemy, they’d have acquired enough motes to pull the Primeval! Sobek’s eyes dart around as he looks for any sign of it, and then he sees it, standing up above him on the ruins of an old house. And he sees the familiar warlock attacking it, pinned up against one of the still standing walls.
Sobek growls, jumping up onto the broken floor, pulling his own sword to slice down the beast. It felt good in his hand, the stasis power running from his hand through the blade. The Seventh Plague it was called, and it lived up to its name.
It cleaved through the thick metal armor with ease, the hooked edge snicking against bones and tearing muscle as the blade is pulled back.
Eyes meet as the Cabal warrior falls, howling her dismay into the dying light in her heart. And Sobek drops his sword, blinking like a man who had just seen the sun for the first time.
“I need my head in your lap.” He didn’t know why he said it but the words came out like a flood, opening up a deep yearning, a howl growing up in his throat and he knew the only cure was to have his head resting on Peixe’s thighs.
The Warlock takes a few steps back from the corner she had been pressed into, but she looks at the scarred Exo without fear, with a smile on her face, green lips parting as she speaks. “It’s alright, it’s a thing that happens. Try not to think about it too hard. Rahool explained it once to me, something to do with paracasual forces and being an awoken-“ she breaks off, laughing a little, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. “Okay, come here big guy. We should be okay here for a while.”
Peixe sits with her back to the wall, smoothing out her robes as Sobek hesitantly kneels beside her, head cocked to one side. “Are..you sure you don’t mind? I’m sorry, I was trying so hard to not be weird, I just-“ He huffs, irritably, hands running over his helmet, claws cutting into the metal.
Peixe’s hands come up, grabbing his own and gently, but firmly, holding them still. “It’s alright. I promise. If it wasn’t I’d tell you. Now, come here.” She pats the skirt of her robes, guiding that heavy head into her lap.
It felt like all of the weight of the world had left Sobek’s shoulders for the first time in his life. He felt safe, he felt loved,
And most importantly, he was in love.

Hello, hi, nice to meet ya! :>
I was just wondering if I could request a scenario or more of a matchup for Cayde-6 from the Destiny Universe.
Well the person for the matchup would be a 6ft0 Female Exo Titan by the name of Rowan-13, who is a former Iron Lord and also the former Titan Vanguard. (Of course my matchup sounds like the female version of Saint-14 or something but she is a OC that I myself created.)
Either way, Rowan-13 is very active and full of energy, not to forget that she is an absolute power house, being stronger than most of the Guardians and dominating anybody who gets into the Crucible with her. She has also been friends with Vanguard, Saint-14 and even Saladin. Rowan-13 is especially close with Cayde-6 because they are similar in their behaviour and particularly dealing with things.
So to get to the point of this request: may I have a matchup scenario with Rowan-13 and Cayde-6 seeing eachother for the first time when she came from the Iron Lord Headquarters (forgot the name of it) to the Tower due to Zavala wanting to have a 'meeting'. With Caydee feeling partially intimidated by the fellow Titan they get to know eachother and actually become the best of friends as time passes.
They are the "chaotic duo" as Zavala and Ikora would call them..
I know, weird request but I just want those two to be happy idiots together ignoring the fact that Cayde died (in my own world atleast).
I AM SO SORRY THAT THIS IS SO LONG😭😭😭
Hope ya have a nice day or night tho! <3
Hello hi! Thank you for this adorable request! To be honest, I’d probably be a little intimidated when first meeting Rowan-13 too :,D Anyways, I hope you enjoy <3!
(Also don’t worry at all, its better to have more info to work with <3!)
Destiny Matchup Scenario #1 Rowan-13 / Cayde-6
As Rowan-13 stepped into Zavala’s office, she spotted an unfamiliar exo standing off to the right side of the room leaning on a wall. He turned his head to watch Rowan walk in, his mouth dropping open a little, noting her height and frame.
“So this is the titan I’ve heard so much about… She could easily throw me if she wanted”, the exo thought to himself, continuing to stare at Rowan. He pushed himself off the wall as Zavala started talking, taking one more glance at Rowan before giving his attention to the awoken.
“Cayde, this is Rowan-13, she’s a former Iron Lord just coming back from Felwinter Peak, she’ll be joining you on missions”, Zavala says, a prideful smile on his face as he bows his head towards Rowan. He looks over at Cayde, a gleam in his eyes, expecting him to greet the titan as well.
Cayde shifts on his feet, his words feeling caught in his throat for the first time in his life as he looks over at the other Exo again. “Come on Cayde, just say hi. She can’t be that bad, right?”, he thinks to himself as he stands a little straighter, sucking in a breath and getting ready to say hello.
“Nice to meet you, Cayde”, she reaches out her hand to him, “I’m Rowan, like Zavala said. I’m excited to be joining your fireteam.”, she smiles brightly as Cayde continues to stare at her like a deer caught in headlights. Cayde takes her hand and Rowan grasps it, shaking it and giving him a small, polite nod.
Cayde’s eyes dart to their hands, taking in how much larger hers are compared to his. “Its nice to meet you too. I’m Cayde-6.”, he says, his voice cracking slightly and he internally facepalms. “Wow so smart, Cayde. ‘It’s nice to meet you. I’m Cayde-6.’ She knows! Zavala introduced you! Great she probably thinks you’re an idiot. And the voice crack to top it off.. wonderful job.”, Cayde says internally as the taller titan smiles brighter, giving his hand one more soft squeeze before dropping it.
“I hope you two can be friends”, Zavala says, looking between the two exos, “Now, I hate to rush this but Shaxx needed to speak to me regarding a certain Vanguard policy. Cayde, behave.”, and with that, Zavala left the room, throwing a final smile towards Rowan before vanishing into the hallway, the taller exo watching as he walked away.
“Okay Cayde, now’s your chance. Invite her out to eat or something. Just fix it!!”, Cayde thought, his “eyebrows” furrowing in determination. “Hey, do you want to go grab something to eat?”, Cayde spoke up, “I know we’re robots and we don’t really need to blah blah blah but I think it’ll be a good way for us to talk more.”, Cayde said, giving Rowan a very uncharacteristic shy smile and rubbing the back of his neck as he looked up at her.
Rowan peered down at the smaller exo, the look of fear he gave her earlier barely apparent anymore in those icy blue optics of his. They seemed… brighter even. “Huh.. I was told he was more.. loud. Maybe he’ll open up more once I know him better”, she thought to herself, she let out a short, soft laugh. “No no, I get it. I’d love to get to know you better!”, the metal plates on her head contorting into a wide grin, “Do you have somewhere in mind?”, she tilted her head at him.
Cayde grinned back, “You did it!”, he congratulated himself internally. “I do have a place! Its actually right downstairs over by Ikora, I’ll walk you there, we can talk more on the way.”, Cayde says excitedly, theatrically turning on his heel and pointing towards the door, keeping eye contact with Rowan the entire time. “WHAT WAS THAT???? Wow wrecking your impression on her agai-“
Rowan let out a soft snort of amusement, shaking her head at the shorter exo. “You’re pretty funny you know. Anyways, I’m following you, hunter”, Rowan said, her optics shining brighter out of joy. Cayde “winked”, “I’m actually the vanguard’s title holder of ‘Funniest Hunter Vanguard’. Impressive, I know”, Cayde bowed and smiled smugly, “I was the only one who voted on who should get that title… But don’t tell anyone!”, he waved his hands around wildly and pretended to be in panic. Rowan threw her head back and let out a guttural laugh, her shoulders rocking with each sound and Cayde’s LEDs twinkled mischievously. “You’re too much, Cayde-6”, Rowan said between laughs, trying to catch her breath.
“I hate to be the ‘destroyer of fun’ but we should probably get going”, Cayde sighed and his shoulders drooped slightly, “Sometimes theres a line”. After a few seconds he suddenly jumped as if he had an idea and grinned, “Maybe after we eat, I’ll take you to meet Colonel! If I love him as much as I do, I know you will too”, the shorter exo laughed softly and looked up at Rowan, his optics glowing brightly.
Rowan looked fondly at Cayde, although she had just met him, she knew they’d become the best of friends. “Like I said, I’m following you, so lead the way!”, she motioned to the door with a swoop of her arm, giving the hunter a playful, soft smile. He gave her a thumbs up and started walking towards the door, “Are you coming, titan?”, he asked playfully with a glance over his shoulder at her and she jogged to catch up. “If we hurry, we can bother Ikora a little while we wait for our food”, the hunter said as they walked down the hall, a mischievous tone in his voice. The titan let out a snicker, “Is this our friendship now? Are we going to endlessly torment the other guardians at the tower?”, Rowan asked, beaming down at Cayde. “Yup. Basically.”, he said and sighed peacefully. “I’m glad.”, Rowan said softly and looked ahead at the plaza before her. “I think we’ll work out just fine”, both exos thought.

D2 Season of the Seraph thoughts
Gameplay:
Was not expecting a second hive focused season this expansion
Really glad for the autofire option being a setting now. Topical that I injured my mousehand this week, but also I notice my fingers & wrists start to hurt if I play for hours with high fire rate weapons
I enjoy the Battlegrounds challenge at +5 at first but I quickly started to hate blueberries who don’t bring champ mods or refuse to run for the laser core. The best runs were with people I like or making a LFG post for Legend where I could vet people were bringing mods.
I enjoy seeing Mars back again as a battleground and that the Braytech facilities on Europa are finally getting used as a map
I finally got everything together and made some 100 resilience loadouts, and it's a night and day difference with survivability.
Revision 0 quest: it was enjoyable to go in with no guide right up until the floor tile puzzle. I was thinking its a shame we only get 1 season with this mission so looking forward to the exotic mission rotator.
There are a lot of server problems this season, the Christmas server problems were an unintentional API bug, but sucks for my friends who did a master activity then got a server error and no credit. I have a new years resolution to play more games that aren’t D2, and so that was the perfect time.
The robo-dog is so cute, I appreciate a friend describing helping me get the orbs as “taking me to the pound to get a puppy”
Once again busy during the Dawning I didn’t finish the last challenge of sit in gambit or crucible matches. I’d never bother to gild it, get 2k kills with a dawning weapon, lmao what a waste of time
GM power level reduction is great, the grind to get to power level so you can do GMs when they come out is a huge burnout factor for me and others.
Very glad Bungie enabled all the mods and literally made me more interested in playing the next month. It was gatekeeping for no reason to make players buy mods a few at a time that were sold on random days, some mods I had been trying to get for more than a year. It’s basically playing a different game if you have a current meta build that relies heavily on one or two specific mods.
I got a good lorely splendor roll and it really is easy mode with Titan
Fucking finally got Touch of Malice after 55 Oryx clears
Grateful to everyone loss farming in IB so much bungie buffed the xp gained for the second week.
Glad they buffed drop rate from wellspring, wish it had been like this the whole time since I had 0 wellspring weapons crafted. The poor red border droprate, and the seasonal challenges meant I was always busy doing something else
I’m glad Bungie made a lot of announcements about when the final seasonal event would be, and it wasn’t during the last week. I also appreciate that they said they will go back to being more public about seasonal info.
I really enjoyed the difficulty of the last mission, it felt like the right amount of challenge.
However the legend system that scales based on fireteam size means it's awful to run the finale or Seraph Shield with 3 people; numerically a person is better off running it solo especially with the solo operator mod. I ran the missions a few times to help someone out, and the increased health and limited revives made a 2 person team feel punishing in a way that doesn't encourage helping casual or less skilled players.
Finishing the season needing to craft a lot of the guns, once again the red boarder and seasonal playlist loop is a grind way past the point of enjoyment. It's better with a partial knockout system but drops for finished patterns still happen way too often and the seasonal activity gives such low energy vs how much is needed to focus and time spent. I finished the season without crafting the ikelos shotgun or the linear fusion, and I’m so burnt out on the loop that I just don’t care.
The crucible rep changes are fucking awful if you place low in comp like me (Bronze tier). On bonus weeks its changed from 2x to 1.5x, and so the strategy seems to reward players for playing every week and more rewards for being good, so if you’re on the wrong end of the cycle where you only play crucible on bonus weeks because you don’t enjoy it or are bad then the slow rank ups just mean I want to play it even less. It was a shorter time doing a full reset of a gambit rank than half a crucible reset, especially because if you don’t get enough kills in a match the game gives you 0 credit.
The crucible rep changes are a shame because with the matchmaking changes I really enjoy the 3v3 comp. I feel like I’m playing others at my level and its the most enjoyable Destiny 2 pvp I’ve ever played
I tried doing some solo dungeons with current meta loadouts, and there's a noticeable difficulty change between Duality & Spire vs the older ones. What I realized is I don't enjoy soloing dungeons; jumping puzzles are a lot more punishing, some bosses take noticably more DPS phases, overall it's an exercise of patience I'm bad at.
Week 1:
For real I thought the braytech security frames were going to shoot me in the back in the intro mission. I wasn’t expecting Xivu Arath to the antagonist this season since we already had a Hive season
Osiris’ grandiose personal introduction to counter Clovis’ ego, him and Clovis butting heads all season is going to be fun to see
Mara’s back in her D1 pirate clothes? She and Crow are the only one who gets clothes change in this game
That the scorn were exhumed locally, nice to know every major battleground is a zombie surge waiting to happen
Lots of sad feelings that Eramis’ former house are being raised as scorn as punishment
I’ve been hoping to get Mara as a character with a storyline that isn’t about her and Uldren/Crow, looking forward to her being a supporting character and tying into the Bray storyline
The Archimedes mission was nice, playing it solo felt challenging
I just didn’t play all weekend when DiM and the companion app were down. Really shows how heavily the community relies on these third party services, and the dedication and work the people running them do is laudable
Other Weeks:
So glad to Elsie back and interacting with Ana. its just Bray family drama this season I love it. Osiris pseudo counts considering Felwinter was his mentor
Clovis thinking its a magnanimous offer in his private guard answerable only to him. Just like how Calus wanted to possess us as a shadow.
I hope that if he does pull the heavily implied doublecross that its not because of Darkness corruption or the Witness but just because he’s a shithead trillionaire
In-universe if my guardian passed Ana’s former spot on Mars and it still had piles of guns I would take some with me
Revision 0 quest: we “surrender” to Eramis, there's so much untapped potential there for Eramis fans. Also wow Eramis sounds so depressed and its understandable, all those of her house that we killed being brought back as scorn.
I love that they reused areas from DSC, it makes sense storywise Bray facilites used the same design and I’m sure helped with developing such an elaborate quest. Going up to space and seeing Earth and the Trsveler was really special
Think its cool Fenchurch (agent of the Hidden) gives us the weapon and not Clovis. We’ve seen more of the Hidden this year than before, I’d love to see a season of the Hidden and see Aunor ingame
Cutscene: based of Bungie to include MLK as part of things Ana taught Rasputin, especially since they usually shy away from recent historical people
Clovis has the anime villian glasses glare, he did fucked up science to his daughter(s) and assuredly unethical animal experimentation to the dog. Clovis is Shou Tucker.
Ana says “why didn’t you ever tell me you studied under Fellwinter” when it’s like a well known fact, IN UNIVERSE. Cool to get more of Osiris reflecting on himself as a novice and his relationship with the Iron Lords.
Aww there are some Cabal dogs there. Meme of Saladin running Old Friend’s Senior Dog Sanctuary complete with the infamous last post. Shame it won’t let me climb to the top
Fun Clovis cutscene, once again recontextualize that legend of “rasputin shot the traveler”
So Clovis is just now on Europa?? As the verison in the exomind was a copy-dublicate vs a copy-cut, then wasn’t he vulnerable to Xivu-Arath the whole time? Also in a way Ana did kill her grandfather, if you consider the copy to be a separate version since if might have different memories
The dialogue in battlegrounds is top notch where it has just a bit of friction between different parties. Then there’s the direct personal attack lines of “Clovis Bray. Your progeny have surpassed you. Your services are no longer required. We appreciate your understanding”. Rasputin responding with corpo speak
Mara is back in her Queen clothes, dev bias that shes the only one who gets 2 outfits in a season /s
The new choral sounding music in the HELM is great, apparently a warmind track remix
The Rasputin and Osiris radio message was fun, in absence of Saladin being pissed at Rasputin for killing Felwinter we get Osiris being pissed when Raputin speaks with Felwinter’s memories
Mixed feelings on week 7 story where they started foreshadowing Rasputin’s death heavily, in week 7 its a question of “are we doomed to repeat the past” but it somehow becomes “humanity destiny 2 main story has no need for a warmind, Rasputin is too dangerous to live we gotta put him down like Old Yeller”
the ending cutscene was a lot of nice looking CGI and yet again the Tower view of the Traveler changes before a new expansion. Great to see all the different characters and the tower feels weird now without the Traveler.
My more cynical take a week later and after thinking about how it was 2+ years between a Rasputin and Ana storyline, Rasputin’s death felt more like they were trying to trim the cast of characters than a killing a character to raise the stakes. Clovis Bray can copy himself and be fine after being deleted, and Rasputin has all these extra data cores he doesn’t feel fully dead, just “dead” enough for some angst but not so dead he can’t be brought back as the plot demands.
Do agree with the post that for a season where the grand finale is Rasputin sacrificing himself, this wasn’t really his season in that so many other characters got a lot of screentime, focus, and build up
Anyway finally Eramis has crossed the line into poor little meow meow
I like how Eramis has been talking to us personal a lot this season. Her lines on Seraph Station where she considered it a rematch of the Beyond Light fight, her lines in the battlegrounds where she says “polish your finest armor. I’ll see you again” and the other lines she has talks about trust and despair
Kind of a shame how at the end of the season Clovis kind of faded out of the story with no real resolution.
Dungeon:
45 second revive timers in a jumping puzzle fucking suck
Ah the rasputin classical music I love it
Eramis on the collectables? Once again we’re just too late to see her. “We have no need of gods” interesting how much effort Eramis spends trying to get us to hate the Traveler
Osiris: “maybe this will restore Ikora’s faith in me” plz Osiris just talk to Ikora she’s concerned that you have no ghost and there are 0 OSHA safety regs here
I like the trace the wire mechanic a LOT more than nightmare zone bell mechanic
The super low Cowboy hat dungeon drop percentage is bullshit if it was done intentionally. It's disrespectful to players' time to make the Hunter one more rare than the other classes. I finished the season with 0 hats.
The dungeon especially in the last boss feels like its meant to be played with 100 resilience.

On Halo and My Renewed “Give a Fuck”
Okay, so I started watching the Halo series on Paramount. I was skeptical. I’d put it off because I was afraid I’d be disappointment.
Halo has been a solid participant in my life since Combat Evolved came out on the OG Xbox in the early 2000s. It saw me through college and my young adult life. I watched all the media content I could. I read the books. Played the games. I even did a 1940s style UNSC pinup. It was my first internet fandom. I was INVESTED. But I’d also been burned…
I loved so much about the universe, but also realized that a lot of it wasn’t great writing… was poorly produced… lackluster, but then there were things that also SHINED. I loved even the dark horse content. I loved Reach. I loved ODST. I loved the actual stories being told and more often than not, the supporting cast more than the leads… except Nightfall. That was absolute shit in every direction. So, I was naturally hesitant when they announced a full blown live action tv show after their decades of milking the franchise cow for all it was worth.
On top of that…I was never in love with Master Chief. Sure he was cool. Stoic, dry, accidentally funny, but he was just a mechanism for moving the story forward. He was deliberately unremarkable in character so you could project yourself into his shoes. He was just, on his own, too bland. Let’s face it. He’s not a well done character. You really have to dig into the books to actually care about HIM and his experience. And even then… For me, it was the people Chief encountered that carried the story. And boy did they have so many vibrant, fully fledged, supporting characters that I cared about. Especially with the addition of the Infinity Crew.
So when Halo 6 came out I was so excited to know what happened next?! We have the Infinity, Roland, Lasky and Palmer and Halsey’s betrayal. Fireteam Osiris and the Infinity Spartans. WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT…
And they just… abandoned everything. Glossed over Cortana’s rampancy, skipped ahead six months with no fucking closure and who’s this fucking clown of a bad guy? It was flat out bad writing. Bad story telling. They’d gutted everything in an attempt to start “fresh” to draw in a new audience and it just… fell flat. On its face. Hard.
It was fun to play sure, but I didn’t have a visceral attachment to anyone or anything. A thinly veiled copy of Cortana and a bitchy pilot (insert unenthusiastic finger twirl) whoooo…
And now there’s Halo TV show and I’m just… apathetic. Another bullshit cash grab. Yay.
But, they changed it. It’s like fanfic…. Staying true to the tone and the vibe and the universe so painstakingly built… but it’s different. It’s canon divergence and I’m… happy about it?
Because Master Chief is an actual character now. He’s not just a vessel for the players experience. Enter Pablo Schreiber. And suddenly I’m interested (I’m not so ignorant that I can’t admit it’s heavily influenced by the fact that he’s fucking hot). They took the effort to really polish the presentation of the sets, and costumes and production so that it feels like a real world… and suddenly…I’m back in that immersive experience that was built decades ago and I care about the characters again. Schreiber actually made me give a shit about John which I haven’t since the books. I know they broke the unspoken rule and showed his face… and I DONT CARE because I actually am invested in HIM. I want to have a connection to this character.
The production quality is much higher than anticipated. The action is well done and the CGI so far is very immersive. Better than what I’m seeing on Disney + right now. And I don’t hate the writing. I’m only just starting episode 2, and we are very early into this…but I’m actually hopeful.

I don’t know anything about destiny but hiiiiii
Tumblr media
HELLO. destiny <33
anyways all you need to know about my destiny au is that eret is an awoken warlock and wilbur is a human warlock and they have a weird rivalry going on right up until eret goes to the dreaming city and sort of abandons her post in the vanguard to help the awoken of the reef and wilbur is all pissy about it and philza minecraft is a gunslinger hunter who uses nighthawk and is generally a menace to society. also techno is a sun breaker titan i will be taking no criticisms on this. i literally have a list of every character and what i think their race, class, subclass, and exotic armor of choice would be im so hehgdhfjf
AND MY OCS. my ocs <3 my main guardian ocs are maya quinni val miya and lazarus-7. they are my babies i’m holding them in the palms of my hands. maya and quinni are both warlocks val is a titan and miya and laz are hunters. i need to make a sixth just to even it all out so i can have a full fireteam of fucking weirdos but they. argdgdgsgeg. maya is my asshole warlock who thinks she’s better than everyone (and kind of is) and is deathly afraid of connection so she just doesn’t! she’s a praxic warlock but she really doesn’t care about their beliefs she’s just kind of there for the perks it earns her and the power it gives her over others. quinni on the other hand is my sarcastic laid back goofball who is smarter than she lets on and plays dumb to learn more about the world around her to her benefit. she’s on of calus’ shadows and does many missions for him but she’s mostly there to keep tabs on him. still she thinks calus is fun and doesn’t mind doing his dirty work. quinni and maya get confused a lot because they are both very powerful and well known figures and they have this weird rivalry about it. but val. oh val <3 straight as an arrow she is. very honest and to the point. she’s a little blunt, very dense, but kind and pure of heart. has a bit of a thing for quinni because those two often run duo missions together and while quinni annoyed the fuck out of her at first, she really really grew on val and now this poor titan is so flustered all the time and is fighting for her LIFE. very lawful good but not like a huge dick about it if that makes sense. she will stand up for her beliefs and morals but she does have a soft spot for her friends and if someone is able to convince her something needs to be done in a less than stellar way, she won’t necessarily participate but she’ll turn to look the other way. miya is my darling hunter. my baby boy. he’s selectively mute and i love him sososo much. he’s a bit clumsy (ie. he falls off the tower all the time those guardrails have nothing on the power of a hunter missing his jump) but he is all about precision and accuracy in the battlefield. mainly uses bows hand cannons and sniper rifles. he’s one of ikora’s hidden and is close with eris. he was close with cayde before his untimely death and sometimes wears his cloak just to remember him. very bad at emotions too, lots of repression until they explode but he’s getting better because he has his friends. and last but certainly not least, lazarus-7. an exo hunter whose head is stuck in the clouds. very spacey but a reliable ally on the battlefield. he does fuck up a lot though and seems to pick the wrong side of things more often than not. some accuse him of maliciously trying to tear down the city, the vanguard, even humanity but those statements couldn’t be further from the truth. he is a genuinely good person and is always trying his best, his best just sometimes isn’t enough.
im soso normal about destiny and its universe if you couldn't tell. this isn't even half of the shit i have written down for my ocs i have so much more about them and i have designs and weapons and subclasses for them to use and i just. aghahghgjdasgdh i love vidja game.

Ace of Spades Fireteam
So, here is my pinned post, with a bit about my guardians! In my head, the three guardians you make in D2 is the young wolf’s 3-person fireteam. I play with my boyfriend, so essentially we have a 6-person fireteam, buuuuut, some of them aren’t fleshed out, so here is the basic info. Also, I should add that in my head, my bf’s titan and my warlock are the young wolves, and it is not just one person.
Bubo (she/her)--awoken warlock. Dawnblade. The YW. Ghost: Minerva.
She was rezzed in the Dreaming City at the time the young wolf was rezzed. She loves her dawnblade, but she uses all the light/darkness subclasses (except for stormcalling). She is the student of Ikora Rey and focuses on history, mainly of the awoken and lightbearers. She hopes to establish a museum in the city one day. She often gets in trouble, such as being the first Shadebinder, learning too much about her previous life, and wanting to keep an Ahamkara bone in her house in the city.
Tripore (he/him)--human titan. Sunbreaker. The YW. Ghost: Edgewise.
Tripore was rezzed in the Cosmodrome, a few years before Bubo. He loves the archives and has become a hidden who focuses on better data management. On the battlefield, he yeets as many nades as possible (and says "where's my hammer?" every five seconds). He loves doing photography and becoming a Dregen in his downtime. Bubo hates how much she is dragged into Gambit by Tripore.
Violet (she/her)--awoken hunter. Nightstalker. Ghost: Rose.
She was on the same fireteam as Cayde and Andal Brask and ended up being on this new light fireteam when she found Bubo in the Dreaming City. A hunter who is probably not the best influence on any new lights, but is quite effective at what she does. She mainly loves sniping, playing with knives, and drinking way too much alcohol.
Cynthia-28 (she/her)--exo titan. Sentinel/ Behemoth. Ghost: Lawrence
Cynthia was rezzed in the early city age. She has an old exo frame that constantly has issues, so she became an exo scientist to learn more about exos and to help others who don’t have the light/can heal themselves. She also tries to take apart our robot dog.
??? (she/her)--awoken warlock. Stormcaller. Ghost: ???
She still needs a name. She was rezzed in the late dark ages and has stayed away from a lot of the fighting, focusing on her studies instead. She ends up on Bubo’s fireteam just cause they needed a bit more firepower fighting Crota, and Bubo just happened to know her.
Shiro-4 (he/him)--exo hunter. Ghost: Suzume
Okay, we haven't had any lore on Shiro since D1, and I want to know what he is up to, so he is the final member of the Ace fireteam. I think he was on the same fireteam as Cayde, Andal, Violet, and Tevis Larsen years ago, but now Violet and Shiro are the last two from that fireteam. Like the unnamed warlock, Shiro is more so just there to help when Ace needs it and he is a reliable hunter.

Destiny 2: How to improve
I know most of yall don’t give a flying fuck about D2 (that sounds a bit harsh but hey it’s not inaccurate) but I need to lay out some things here In the original draft of this, I was far more angry and enough people have done that last season and this season now. So figured I should layout ideas I think could be done to fix things One way to help the Vanguard strike playlist again is adding the PsiOps and Heist Battlegrounds to the playlist, in addition Chosen, PsiOps, and Heist Battlegrounds should drop random seasonal gear from their original season (also reissue Chosen gear with the Land Tank origin trait). "But hey hows that fair that Battlegrounds get their own loot pools-" Simple solution: guns like Militia's Birthright's non adept form would drop from strike completion, taking them out of the Nightfall loot pool unless its the Nightfall that week, adept variants would only drop during the Grandmaster version. As for guns like Duty Bound or D.F.A, they'd be in a different loot pool that like the weekly Nightfall loot pool, would cycle. So we'd have the Vanguard Nightfall loot (Shadow Price, Palindrome, SWARM, etc) and Vaulted Nightfall loot (D.F.A, Mindbender's Ambition, etc) In addition, like during Year 4, we should have a Battlegrounds playlist and Hunts playlist Hunts would get the Nightmare Hunts, Empire Hunts, and Baron Hunts (once Forsaken returns) into one playlist. Loot dropped would be from the planets loot pool: Baron Hunts grants Tangled Shore loot, Nightmare Hunts grant Luna gear, etc Now that's simply helping PVE playlist content, now onto PVP One big thing, RETURN TO CBMM (in quickplay and comp). Fireteam Based Matchmaking will be good for Trials, Iron Banner, and Gambit so it can stay. However the SBMM is clearly not good as its just led to people playing the same people over and over again Another obvious issue is lack of loot incentive from competitive. There's rather easy solutions here For reaching certain ranks, you'd receive a Ghost, a Sparrow, a Ship, and an Emblem (maybe multiple? one should at least denote that you've reached Ascendant) but see that wont keep people coming in. Once you reach Ascendant for the season, aside from playing a few matches to get your weekly roll of Rose, why bother? Well adept variants of Crucible guns would be enticing. Now of course the main problem is maps or lack there of. Ideas for map locations:The Scarlet Keep, Bray Exoscience facility, Riis Reborn, Freehold's temporal anomalies, The Lucent Citadel, The Black Garden, Neomuna, wreckage of The Almighty, a Seraph Bunker, somewhere in The Dreaming City and The Reef
The same problem is present with Gambit but even moreso. My map suggestion is the same as above along with Also I'd like to see a version thats what Gambit Prime attempted to be, Gambit Perfected. Within GP, you'd que into your role and once in the game your role would be over head for your teammates to see and know who's who. - Max 3 rounds like old school Gambit - Role buffs return but are not as overpowered as previous ones - new Primevals (Taken Techuen, Taken Chieftain, Taken Darkblade, Taken Acolyte that uses Stasis, Taken Wyvern) - Lucent Brood are now possible enemies with Hive Lightbearers being the High Value Targets - House Salvation are now possible enemies with Stasis wielders being High Value Targets - Shadow Legion are now possible enemies with Tormentors being High Value Targets - Season of the Drifter gear returns, wins granting a chance at adept versions (I just really want Spare Rations and Bug-Out Bag again lol)
Now Seasonal content...thats far more tricky imo. For one, cutting up the story content into 8 parts always has hurt the stories, Plunder for instance could've had us gather a few more relics per week and the main story couldve been shortened and it'd flow much better than waiting 8 weeks... As for the dreaded 3 x 7 upgrade screen. One idea is to cut it to only 15 upgrade steps but we still have this issue of this time gated vendor upgraded. So remove the timegate...sorta As it stands now, the way to upgrade the vendor/device is the weekly season challenges, one will be related to the weekly story quest and the other would be combat related So have the item used for upgrades drop from the season activity very rarely. Excess items can be turned in for enhancement cores or prisms And the last one I have much to say about: Moments of Triumph it feels pretty lame Age of Triumph was D1's finally hooray, a celebration of Destiny 1 as such, Moments of Triumph should feel similar something like double rewards for multiple activities two active rotating raids/dungeons an armour ornament set from seal completion just something so people know to be active in Moments of Triumph because if you didnt see the MMXXII seal in the triumph tab you'd have no idea it's going on right now ANY CASE we come to the end of my lil(hA LIL) post about how Destiny 2 can improve greatly now this wont fix everything but it'll definitely fix some stand out problems imo
