hear me with an honest heart

people hear without really listening, most of the time, and you hate it. you know that your words are falling dead from your mouth in a conversation as the other person just sits and waits until it is their turn to talk again. you crave more, you want to be heard with a purpose and an honesty of intentional knowing. because you are so many things, and they live within you, and you want to share them, but it is hard, because to speak is to allow someone to listen. to speak is to chance being heard. and if you are heard, and if they listen, then they will know. my darling dove, you deserve to be known. you deserve to talk until your voice gets rough and to have someone listen to every word. you deserve the kindness of an active investment by another in what it is you have to say. it isn't selfish, i promise, i swear.

What is Destiny: Become Legend?

Destiny: Become Legend is a custom tabletop roleplaying game fan project co-created by @frombrad2worse and @cassiefisherdrake , crafted from the ground up with a unique dice system designed to capture the rich universe, expansive lore, and tactical combat of Bungie, Inc.'s sci-fi shooters Destiny and Destiny 2.

We are B (@cassiefisherdrake) and Danger (@frombrad2worse), two huge Destiny 2 fans and the creative force behind the Destiny: Become Legend TTRPG. B is a proud Titan main (Missile Titan Supremacy) and Danger is a filthy Hunter main (with a crippling Gunpowder Gamble addiction). Here's a picture of our Guardians!

We don't want to show too much until we hear back from Bungie's licensing team, but we'd love to give you a few glimpses into our game and the system that drives it! All you need to play is your imagination, your fireteam, and some six-sided dice.

In D:BL, the players, as Guardians, explore the vast universe, interact with its colorful inhabitants, and fight back against the forces of Darkness. When a situation with an exciting and uncertain outcome arises, you roll 2d6 and add stat modifiers to determine what happens. If things get dicey (pun intended) and weapons are drawn, combat begins. In combat, you have a pool of d6s you can expend every turn to fire weapons, activate Light abilities, and perform various Heroic Actions. Combat is designed to be fast-paced, tactical, and exciting. Just like the games, D:BL is built to be easy to pick up and fun to play for beginners, but contains a wide array of character customization options to provide a rich and rewarding experience for players that want to dive deeper and build the Guardian of their sci-fi fantasies.

While we wait to hear back from Bungie, we're cooking up an actual play livestream to show off D:BL in action. This short campaign will begin two years after The Taken War and will show how one small change can alter an entire timeline. But will it change for better or worse?

Each week, we'll join our two fireteams as they to race to save the Last City - and maybe even the timeline itself! Many sessions will even come with their own lorebook entry, read aloud at the end of play to further delve into Destiny's depths!

Whether you're ready to find out about the campaign, hear a fan-made lorebook, or just want to see how the mechanics of the D:BL system shake out, join us every Monday, at 8:30PM Eastern / 7:30 Central as we play live on our twitch!

Now you may be asking yourself - how soon can I play this at home with my other Destiny-loving nerd friends? And the answer is: soon! Right now, the system is in testing stages as we flesh out the rules, organize Vanguard playbooks, and more. Once we have things nailed down, the D:BL system will be free for all to play and engage with. Yes, free! After all, we are a fan project - our only goal is to spread far and wide so we can all have fun with our friends, playing together in the Destiny universe's sandbox. 1 hunter, 1 titan, 1 warlock: balanced. normal. boring. ya'll hiding all your problems under a thin veneer like a good ol' 1950s white picket fence family.

3 titans: it does not matter what gender ya'll are, y'all start acting like 16-year-old boys the moment you get together.

3 hunters: (David Attenborough voice) this fireteam communicates exclusively through in jokes, grunts, and saying "dude" in a variety of different tones.

3 warlocks: ya'll are THE most competitive people i have EVER met. you will metaphorically compare the hairs on your ass to find who has the best one.

2 titans, 1 hunter: this is a strong family that's super chill and easy to get along with. the best fireteam to ask to your day 1 blind raid.

2 titans, 1 warlock: ya'll are basically siblings, but the kind of siblings that genuinely care for and respect each other and get along just fine.

2 hunters, 1 titan: you are exactly 2 kids and 1 exasperated parent.

2 hunters, 1 warlock: this is one of those friend groups where one person is the butt of every joke (it's the warlock), but if anyone outside the friend group tries making fun of them, that person is getting verbally assassinated by the other two.

2 warlocks, 1 titan: i guarantee you the titan is the quiet one who just likes to listen to people infodump about their special interests. if that means listening from the center of a summoning circle the warlocks told them to stand in, so be it.

2 warlocks, 1 hunter: it's a kink thing.

banshee-44, according to... well, me.

really the only things that irk me about his design are his colors and his outfit, primarily the latter. considering how filthy his workshop is, and how gruff and grumpy he seems, i'd expect to find this guy elbow deep in gun parts 24/7. he gives mechanic vibes ya know? dingy and covered in oil and grease and scraped up to hell from working with his hands for traveler-knows-how-many decades. those bright colors and swaddling clothes just don't suit his personality, i think. he gives "personable, tough-love bartender", if that makes sense. like you could lean on his counter late at night and get into those deep conversations, really talk about some serious stuff. ya know? ya know?!?!?!?!

also that thousand-yard stare. i know this guy's been through a lot, if anyone should space out it's him, but. damn.

anyway. i just think this version is more pleasing, idk about y'all. just though i'd share. i love banshee-44 regardless. love you banshee, 'preciate ya.
