Hiii I hope this isn't coming off as rude but a lot of what you said in that ask about baxter with a black wife perpetuates a Lot of anti black stereotypes (i.e how baxter is going to get fat from black and other enthic cultural foods, how brown people are always friendly, speaking about how baxter would do his kids hair and comb it when it takes a Lot of work to maintain 3 and 4 type hair and texturism is very much a thing, and the black women can fix a white man trope). We are also forgetting the fact that Baxter's parents are bigoted and that alone would have a Lot of black families not like him. This really doesn't help that you say you have no experiences with any of the things you're talking about, it's not a very good look and comes off as ignorant and antiblack. I'm not saying this to dissuade you from having black characters or anything of the sort, but black women (especially darker skinned women) are still People and shouldn't have their experiences watered down to something that is stereotyping and sexualizing them

but I am, I have a black mother, and i have type 3 hair n it's thick, and I know it is sometimes a pain to deal with bc of that and it's length, so my comment about hair was more meant about my experience, and how I know it took a lot for me to get my hair healthy again, and how I know what it was/is like for me to take care of my hair, and how my family took care of my hair when growing up

and I know as someone with a white dad, who had a white girlfriend (my parents aren't together), that my dad's now ex girlfriend said she went above and beyond to ask my mother n other black women about how to take care of my hair, and the comment wasn't meant disrespectfully, it was just a mention about how I'd hope most people would act and treat someone, especially someone close, with different hair than them

and part of what I said, abt cove specifically, was based off the wedding DLC and how cove left MC to do most of their hair on their own (if I remember correctly)

but I left texture out of it, and left my comments more open because I don't have course textured hair, my hair has a very silky texture and i can throw water on it and be done if I wanted to.

but I know it isn't like that for everyone, and I didn't wanna talk about things I have no experience with or ramble about something i didnt know abt.

I do know everyone takes time and care to comb their hair, and I know people use more or less products depending on their hair, and depending on what you or a child needs, I'd hope someone would learn to take care of it and understand what they're doing (because I know my dad didn't and didn't care to learn either)

I didn't think I portrayed it that badly, maybe I did, so I am sorry that it came across rudely or exclusive when I was trying to be more vague about things like that just for anyone reading. if that ramble was more refined and less a passing conversation/thought. I would have went into depth abt hair texture n all that stuff

and I think you're talking about my comment about how black people look good in yellow, that wasn't meant to sexualize anyone I just meant it as a compliment that I think yellow on brown skin, regardless of how light or dark, looks good and I appreciate their beauty regardless.

now, I'll be honest interracial dating makes me uncomfortable due to the nature of my childhood and all that sweet stuff. but I know many people, love baxter or cove or whoever, and I know there are some black fans of course and I'm not going to exclude anyone, and again. as someone half black, I can talk about it, mention a couple things, whatever

I will be honest. I completely forgot people fetishize interracial dating and black people, this stuff isn't always at the forefront of my mind.

my comments were meant as a "here's a few things baxter would do for his partner, especially if they have specific needs for their hair or something but here's a few things regardless of race, and more what he'd do for his partner/family"

now the "fattening them up" comments were not meant maliciously, I'm sorry for that. I mean, if you think about it, regardless of race/ethnicity, people like to feed others really well, and I meant it lightheartedly, and jokingly because I know people who always tell me to eat more so I'd imagine it be the same w others

I was thinking about my family when I said it, because my family cooks a lot and we eat well. and generally, you can fatten up anyone you give them enough food, it wasnt meant as "black people cook/eat a lot of fattening food"

it was a lighthearted comment based of my experience with people, that i can think of a few people who would definitely try to 'fatten' up baxter, it was not meant to contribute to anything harmful and was meant to be a light hearted joke but again, i can see how that looks now that im thinking about, and I'm sorry.

and about that "black people being friendly" I know not every black person is friendly. trust me I know. my family isn't the nicest, some individuals are meaner than others, and we have a couple family friends who aren't the nicest peopl.e.

I said that, because I'd hope you have a nice family. and I don't imagine you'd want to include your mean or bigoted family in a story or whatever, that you are probably reading for fun or escapism.

I thought about it, I didn't think it needed a disclaimer or anything like that, since I know and you know that not everyone and not every family is nice but this isn't meant to bring awareness to auch a thing

but again, I can see how it was taken as such, and I'm sorry because again, the thought evaded me and I suppose I should have put out my wish out there, so people knew I didn't mean it rudely, just that I'd hope you have a nice family (regardless of race) to introduce your lover to

I know! and I thought about it, and I know my mother wouldn't like him either. but I figured this wasn't a place to talk about it, or at least wasn't the time and this is all fictional work, hypothetical and completely imaginary, so I figured we can ignore the obvious for once.

but clearly, I made it seem like I was ignorant to such a thing, even though I was thinking about it. and I apologize for that illusion, I just try to keep harder topics off my posts most of the time when I'm not writing fics so that way people have a warning for any angst or hard topics.

I want this to be a safe space, and if there is anyone who uses my work as an escape, or a way to relax, I want to allow them to do that and ha e the ability to ignore their problems and relax for as long as possible.

and about my comment about having no experiences

I meant, I have no experience with a nice family or cultural food or activities, etc.

I have experience with textured and type 3 hair. I have experience with racism. I have experience with exclusion, etc

I just meant, I don't have experience with anything cultural or having big family experiences because my immediate family is very excluded and cut off from most of our family because we are poor and live in a small town, not near I'd say 90% of our family.

I have no experience with a family doting on me or anything like that. I see it, and it happens sometimes or someone does some caring action but that's it.

all that I mentioned above, is what I have no experience with.

I hope that addressed everything. if I forgot something let me know, I do offer a genuine apology because anything I said or ignored something said by others, since I mostly repeated my thoughts.

I apologize sincerely for and I hope I didn't come off defensively or disrespectfully since I didnt mean it as so, I do appreciate you saying this, because I don't want anyone to feel hurt or excluded or anything and think there's some ignorant white woman behind the screen spouting bullshit lol

ok i GOTTA ask but why do you hate penny 💔💔i am genuinely curious

i ramp up my hate more than i should. like, i dont hate her as much as i do clint or lewis, but shes def my least favorite bachelorette.

ive always found her to be boring in the overused “shy girl” kind of trope, or the “tryhard nice girl” ig. in reality it just simmers down to shes stupidly boring.

like, i hate shane cuz hes an ass, but his story is the most flourished ive seen amongst the spouse choices. and hes a great character. i dont favor harvey as a spouse, but he had a dream and aspiration before becoming a doctor, and thats something to his name. abigails adventurous and overcomes her fear of going into the mines, sam matures, elliotts charming, haley matures, emilys sporadic and interesting, leahs strong willed and funny, marus sweet (still boring, but i like her cuz i too like science and strawberries), so on so forth.

its not just penny, either. like, i find sebastian to be overrated because hes also a little boring. yeah, hes good with boundaries, and yeah hes the typical emo boy everyone loves, but other than feeling free on the farm, hes kinda got no plot to him.

and im not saying every single person and character has to have this huge revelation and turning point to be a good character or be likeable. no, not at all. pennys likeable because shes kind and sebastian is likeable because hes probably really relatable to half the people who play sdv (even i relate to him to an extent). hell, elliott doesnt really have a change in character other than him publishing a novel, but hes a little dorky and has a dream hes trying to achieve. sebastian wants to move to the city, which is a dream, but its still like. a boring one, almost? even then, that puts him above penny, which as far as im concerned (ive only romanced her once, and it was to get the group ten heart scene with the bachelorettes) all she has to her name is “im sweet and good with kids.” shes a great, simple, basic character if youre looking for the “nice girl” trope, but shes still boring.

i dont HATE penny, right, like not as much as clint or lewis, but i do find her to be incredibly overrated for such a boring character. when put against the other spouses, penny just falls flat. i know thats saying a lot when harveys literally right there, but i assure you hes also one of my least favorite spouses, too. i like art of penny, and i like ramping up her personality to be more than shy and nice, where occasionally she does friendly banter with sam and his friends, or is some sort of in touch with internet culture while not pursuing it, but i just dont like canon penny. i find her really boring. shes a great spouse for someone who wants a simple person in their gameplay, but ive just never really pursued her because i find her lacking.

while i would bring up her two heart event with george, calling her ableist for moving him w/o his permission, i feel as though thatd be wrong. penny’s nice enough to change her ways, and im willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on this once. she “helps” goerge, and depending on how you answer, she apologizes to goerge. (of course, you lose friendship points with her, but a lot of people dont respond to criticism nicely. hell, i dont respond to it great either). im not saying what she did was right. no, it wasnt. but i hope penny would be mature enough to learn and change from that, which is why i feel the 2 heart event is a bit of a weak claim.

tl;dr: i acknowledge pennys great for different people, but ive found her boring for my liking.

i hope this explains it well, or at least to your liking! i tried not to sound rude, because my intent is not malicious. im sorry if it comes off that way. sorry for any typos/confusing grammar as i do not proofread. like. ever.

oh i would never expect malicious intentions from Scruffy lol. they're very kind-hearted and lovely and even treat their trolls politely. i knew they were speaking more out of ignorance than, like, disgust or something. the siblings comment just rubbed me the wrong way and i wanted to be mean a little bit. obviously doesnt justify my harshness, but i also wasnt even intending to come across so mean (like my bit at the end w/ the incest was moreso supposed to be a comment of "shouldnt you understand how siblings DONT date?? even in non-common relationship tropes?"). like i said in an earlier message, i only wanted to be rude a little bit

this one time when i was with my exs siblings and his cousins who were visiting and everyone knew each other obv along with his brothers gf who was close w the cousins and siblings so i was obviously the outlier right and we were in the car for like an hr to do a day trip somewhere and the way it was laid out like no one was really talking tbh? like my exs brother and his gf at the time were in the front seat and kind of just talking to each other, me and my ex were in the 2nd row and in the very back row the cousins and sister and they all had like earbuds in so its not like anyone was rly having a full conversation and if there was talking it was brief YK idk but my ex was hounding me over text about not being social enough and we were legit having a fucking argument over txt abt it like. i personally dont feel like i was being rude or standoffish or doing anything wrong . i was not being rude at all and i was trying my best and yeah i could be a more outgoing person but thats not who i am and i was doing my best and wasnt like ignoring anyone or being rude or legit not trying yk. however he wanted to paint me it was just weird he was so obsessive and controlling like maybe habe an ounce of understanding ? idk why u dont have empathy for ur partner when he knwos im anxious in groups and social situations and also it just felt ridiculous given we were in a car and no one was really talking everyone was doing their own thing. and he was just mad at me bc i said i was kind of anxious. and we were full on arguing and then i was saying over text i wanted to just go home bc he was making me feel so bad and i felt extremely self conscious abt being with his family bc he said something abt how no ones gonna like me blablabal lol. and then we were at this restaurant and everyone was in line to get seated and so we had our phones away and he called me a bitch in my ear like WHAT THE FUCK LMFAOOO 😭And then i had to sit thru a meal w him at a restaurant w his siblings and stuff and its just fucked like how do u treat someone u love that way. i was not doing anything maliciously at all and i think he was being controlling as well. and no understanding just acting like im a horrible person for being myself

i wanna flesh out my characterization of sunny and moon more so heres more hcs :) [part 1 here]

these are all with the idea that theyre separate animatronics and that moon is working as intended!

sunny ☀

needs near constant stimulation!! he can never Not be doing something, if theres no one to entertain he will simply entertain himself or come up with things to do with the kids on his next shift

hes naive but not necessarily innocent, part of his programming is making sure what is and isnt appropriate for children so he has some knowledge to an extent. but if you told a kid santa wasnt real he would scold you and then later tearfully ask if you were being serious

his arms have little storage spaces for first aid supplies and his candies! (and stickers! he put those there himself)

it feels wrong for him to stay still so hes always moving in some way, but he also just likes to hear his bells jingle so sometimes he dances vigorously for no reason but to hear the violent jingling

likes to express himself through art✨ if hes upset, drawing something helps him get his feelings out and then hes back to his cheery self

kids have absolutely shown him memes before so he knows some internet language! he most likely has the basics down but would use things incorrectly on purpose to see the kids reactions

speaking of things kids have shown him, some have probably brought their games and like. you cant tell me sunny wouldnt be obsessed with animal crossing!! he would have such a gorgeous town/island

moon is his brother and best friend!! theyre technically the same "age" but he acts like moon is the cool and wise older sibling and he looks up to him (even if he disagrees with some of moons behavior toward children sometimes)

introduces moon really enthusiastically like "and thats my brother moon!!! moon say hi!!" and moon, from across the room, looks over and flips them both off and sunny just goes ">:/ he can be. a little rude sometimes. but i love him!! and you should too!"

moon 🌙

has learned how to bypass his no swearing code but has the decency not to swear in front of kids (...for the most part)

acts much more mature than sunny and is usually very calm and collected, but the idea of getting into serious trouble makes him panic

has a mischievous side to him >:) while he takes very good care of the kids and doesnt want them to get hurt, when a kid falls hes the type to make sure theyre ok and then laugh when theyre out of earshot. its funnier to him if they show absolutely no sign of being upset, like straight up faceplanting and immediately getting up like nothing happened

his battery life only lasts about 24 hours! its much shorter than sunnys since moons only supposed to be active in the dark but its long enough that he could be a temporary replacement if sunny was unavailable for the day

he likes scaring people >:) not maliciously like to the point theyd fear for their lives, more so if he was the seeker in hide and seek and he wanted to put everyone on edge and/or hiding when someone calls for him and jumping out when they get close

puts up a facade of pretending not to care very much about most things (he thinks it helps him look more mature) but anyone whos been around him long enough knows he Does Care and can get just as excited as sunny about some things

moon likes to act like sunnys the most annoying thing in the world but he Loves him <3 moon isnt big on physical affection like sunny but every now and then he can be persuaded into a hug and it always makes sunnys week

he kinda envies that the kids seem to like sunny more but sunny reassures him that just bc they dont like naptime, doesnt mean they dont like him. plenty of kids are lower energy or introverted and would love to have a quieter calm section with moon

hear me out on this one. they (and ig by extension the glamrocks) have air vents near their mouths that give the illusion of breathing. designers needed a place for them to vent hot air to keep them from overheating and were like "pseudo breathing yes"

the lights are more like reminders and not strict turn on/off signals!! when there arent guests around they like to hang out together :)

its not that they arent allowed to leave the daycare, its just the daycare is all they know and theyre nervous theyll get lost and not make it back in time to do their jobs. its a self imposed "rule" they have

theyre aware of the glamrocks of course, the play structures are decorated with the bands faces after all and the kids love to talk about the shows, but i dont think theyve ever really met. sunny and moon think the glamrocks are very cool and wanna be their friends!! but to the band, theyre just The Daycare Attendants :(

moon is the only one sunny will ever be even slightly mean to and only out of brotherly playfulness (reprimanding misbehaving kids doesnt count), and moon is the only one who can be mean to sunny and sunny wont start immediately sobbing. they are brothers your honor

okay im sorry but i keep thinking about Jon's justification for siding with the TBATF crew. There's so much I have to say so I'm gonna do it in bullet points so I can keep all my thoughts together-- I hope thats okay. (sources from tbatf-callout and here because holy shit is it hard to find archives of this stuff.)

He's weighing his own experience with two sexual assault allegations and the person who was suicide baited by Jax.

He, himself, is someone on the Eddsworld crew. The TBATF crew are very obviously invested in Eddsworld, and appear to want to be involved with the production of the show itself on some level (see: Jax being a fucking mod on their server for a while, the art she's produced for them, the fact that they've been tagging Matt Lobster in their tweets, etc.). Of fucking course they aren't going to be rude to Jon, he's a fucking artist on the goddamn show. Idk about you, but I'd probably be extra nice to someone like that if I were in Jax or Kenz's position.

The TBATF team were calling their detractors "dEddheads." Regardless of how you feel about the allegations, using that sort of term against anyone in the Eddsworld fandom is INCREDIBLY disrespectful. A crew member on the show of all people should fucking know this.

The fucking scene where edd is sexually assaulted (1) (2) (3) and its played off as a joke. I don't think I need to comment on why that's fucked up. (note the ""disclaimer"" that they put in only AFTER people rightfully asked them what the fuck they were thinking.)

Even after all of this-- the sexual assault allegations, the suicide baiting allegations, the use of the term "deddhead," and the rape joke that they tried to damage control, Jon (who, again, is a member of the show the tbatf crew loves) believes that his experience outweighs everything else.

Jon is an official member of the Eddsworld crew. I need to stress that. I feel like theres a big fat difference between a fan defending TBATF and a fucking CREW MEMBER defending them.

What kind of fucking internal rot does the crew have where they keep protecting shitty people? what the fuck is wrong with them?

//sidenote b4 i send this in: Jon says this in his defense of the crew.

I think it'd be one thing if the crew had just, like... made a bad joke and recognized it and apologized or something like that. hell, if they had just... acknowledged that the assault scene with edd specifically was fucked up and that they were sorry and wouldnt do it again and ended up actually doing better, i wouldnt have even brought it up. but instead they doubled down on it, and they tried to say edd "liked it" only AFTER everyone blew up on them. and this isnt even to mention the fucking irl sexual assault allegations or the suicide baiting or any of that which, yknow, kinda seems MORE than just a "fuck up" that wasnt "malicious with their intentions" or whatever.

God, I hate this fucking crew.

jon is such a fucking lost cause at this point. if he doesn't recognize by now that this shit is not only real but is also only going to get worse if he just stands by, who KNOWS when it's finally gonna start hitting him. the longer he just leaves these people like this the more people are gonna get roped into it and get hurt. what he needs is to take a step back and really weigh their actions towards other people versus their actions towards him. and it looks like what he wants is the exact opposite.

so far, i've noticed a running trend with the entire eddsworld crew, not just jon: people don't stop to think about what they're doing before they do it. none of the writers stopped to think about putting a pedo joke OR and ableist joke in beaster bunny. bing didn't stop to think that antagonizing a whole group of people for liking a ship is a really shitty thing to do, ESPECIALLY after a lot of the drama taking place died 3-4 years ago. and now jon.

it's abundantly clear he's not thinking critically about this.

and while i would say that what we need to do is to tell him to get off his ass and do something about it (which we should still do), if it takes less time for teenagers to recognize what's going on compared to a grown ass man who probably knows about even MORE shitty things these people have done...

he shouldn't be in a respected position in the first place.

holy crap i feel like youre the only person ive seen actually analysing that helen wasnt a liar and that theres a narrative tension crated between jon's first meeting with ehr "i believe you" and his murder of her "was that a lie", i.e. fundamentally jon never saw helen as a friend so he always decided her friendly overtures were lies and firmly decided it in ep187, retroactively making her seem like she was faking/being malicious all along in a really self-centered way only an Eye avatar could

yeah that's like, the thing I think abt constantly, I do believe she was dangerous and also evil but my analysis on the episode is that this is the season about what Jon's wiling to justify and how the narrative has set up clear examples of this in previous statements re: people will justify their actions however necessary +

jon said he didn't want martin to be there bc martin would have wanted him to kill helen based on that victim but followed up with 'i intended to do this anyways because I was hoping I was wrong about you' (and her inviting him to know her motives and him saying 'its not about what I know, it's about what I feel' and as we know jon is not necessarily the most accurate judge of character) but following her destruction, when martin finds out, he's actually mournful.

jon in this situation is actually...honestly someone who's lied a lot this season? lies by ommission, lies that are just a bit of the truth, which is super fascinating re: his discussion of helen

that being said I think that a narrative of 'i want to be your friend' 'no you don't you're evil and bad' and then 'youre actually not wanting to be our friend' as a plot....twist honestly seems....to obvious to me. it's not a plot twist. it's a reason that's been there all along

I think that jon had good reasons, but it's wrapped all up in other reasons and unlike any of the other avatars jons killed so far....'youve always backstabbed me and lied to me' isn't true, not in helens case. there was exactly one moment when she neglected to help him and this was following him being incredibly rude and dismissive of her whenever they had an interaction. michael crew wasn't even interested in hurting jon until he was rude and asked him about his scar that jon KNOWS where he got it from

tldr: jons telling himself little things to justify his actions but I think that we're slowly getting into 'lies he tells himself' wrapped around a kernel of truth and helen happens to unfortunately be a victim of one of those lies, ironically enough

one thing that bugs me ab tbe cm fandom is how much hate haley gets??

girlie was a GOOD PERSON!! like she never did anything to warrant the massive hate train. her leaving hotch wasnt like.. a bad character trait?? she needed her husband to be a presence in her and jack’s life and he just couldn’t do that - the hours were too long, the job was too dangerous. she wasn’t unfaithful, she wasn’t rude or malicious, she was frustrated with hotch and rightly so.

even afterwards, she still loved hotch and trusted his capabilities as a parent, and she deeply cared for him!!!!

bnha characters as volleyball players (au headcanons)

i have never in my life played volleyball outside of gym class and the occasional beach jaunt, so this is all based off of what i learned from haikyuu LOL

anyways, this started as tags from this fanart by @syblatortue of deku, kacchan, kiri, sero, iida and shouto as vball players, and then it got away from me so if you wanna read 2.9k worth of headcanons about powerhouse athletics high school UA then go ahead and press “read more” :)

deku's the calculating setter like kenma and he fanboys over stats from the international to the national to the high school

kacchan used to make fun of him and look down on him bc he used to think too much on court to move properly, and as a kid kacchan used to think that it was spiking or bust so he always gave deku grief and bullied him over being slow and weak

in middle school kacchan was a starter since first year and eventually became the ace but deku was always second string setter

his athleticism was nothing to write home about but he was just good enough to make the bench

in their middle school tournament their starting setter got injured and deku had to step in to set for a match for the first time ever

powerhouse volleyball high school coach yagi toshinori is watching and he sees all the aborted plans in deku's setting choices

he sees the gutsy sets that miss and the one successful dump he did that threw everyone off-guard (even deku himself), and yagi remembers what it was like to be hungry for volleyball seeing the look in this kid's eyes and he recognizes the brain on him

their team loses there though bc the fact is that deku wasnt athletic enough to do it and kacchan is yelling and deku's crying

but yagi approaches deku (who freaks out bc all might is THE legendary vball player of their country, and the nation was SHOOK when after getting severely injured by a malicious spike in the wrong place he chose to coach high school vball, even if the school was a powerhouse school and also his alma mater lol)

but anyways deku babbles and fanboys even through his tears and says he got into UA but he's not sure he can make the vball team, and yagi says he sees the potential in deku's plays and if he trains hard every. single. day. from now until the tryouts at UA, he might make at least the bench

(cue montage)

kacchan is angry to see deku at tryouts and fuckn RAGING when deku more or less keeps up bc deku got buff since their last high school match

unfortunately for kacchan he is actually the one most familiar with deku's playing since they trained together in middle school too, and he almost pops a blood vessel just thinking it but ever since deku started actually being able to get to the ball in time, vball has been more fun ‘cuz the things deku ends up doing are fucking batshit crazy and his sets are begrudgingly his favourite to hit

deku sets right where kacchan can just hit the ball as violently as he can, and it sounds like a bomb goes off when the spike hits the ground

(kacchan also obviously has the best serves and he mixes it up with the power ones like his ap shots, or floaters when he's strategic; he knows how to read the opposing team and either wait or serve really fast and serves up high to blind them like his flashbomb explosions, and he’s really arrogant about his serves but at least he can back it up as per classic kacchan)

anyways they become a really intimidating duo, apart but especially together, because despite the way deku still occasionally cowers from kacchan’s rage and kacchan is often yelling and antagonizing deku, they can read each other really smoothly on court and they match each other really easily, and they both go for the really gutsy shit no one else would think to try (like samu and tsumu going for the freak quick with samu setting kind of gutsy)

kacchan is also antagonizing af and calls the other team extras lol

but yeah, those two along with renown olympic vball player todoroki enji's son shouto are the three most intimidating first years at UA

enji has a very aggressive playing style and where he targets people on the opposing team specifically to make them sweat, makes them feel like he’s hot on their heels even from the other side of the net, always glaring, always strong

shouto hates it and hates the way his dad made him train day in and day out just because he had a good reaction time and instincts for the ball when he was young

fuyumi and natsuo were slow as kids and got immediately dismissed bc of it bc to enji if they werent athletic enough for the ideal vball playing style as children then theyd never be athletic enough to beat all might’s vball career and metrics in the future

touya was fast enough but he overtrained and strained his knees and then continued straining them to play anyways till they were permanently damaged, and by the time he graduated middle school, his doctor put him on orders to never ever ever do anything that might be overly strenuous for his knees ever again

anyways, shouto plays very cool and detached, like even when he spikes the ball right into your face you’ll feel like he wasn’t looking; he’s a middle blocker like suna, stays calm but uses his whole body

deku eventually convinces him that playing with fire every once in a while, especially when he spikes, can be a good thing because at the end of the day, his dad may have taught him the tricks but it’s shouto himself who’s playing, and so it’s not his dad’s style, it’s his own

also the spikes just aren’t as good or as psychologically effective if shouto’s not 100p IN it when he goes to spike one of deku’s demanding sets

and im gonna say shouto is ambidextrous but more comfortable with his left hand in this volleyball au because shouto’s left side is his fire side, and it’s more parallel to the character to make his more aggressive spiking hand his left one but still have him be able to use his left hand for spikes too (it’s also SO stressful for opponents bc angles)

also yes he does indeed only play with his right hand (his ice side) when he gets into UA, and is initially very hellbent on proving to his father that he can become a pro vball player without being as aggressive as enji on court and without using his more dominant hand, the hand that his dad’s been focusing on whenever they trained at home, the hand he’s spent hours and hours spiking and serving with since he was like five years old

one day deku notices shouto’s writing with his left hand and then connects the dots and sort of badgers him into spiking one of his sets with his left hand too and then yeah shouto tells him his life story and deku manages to emotionally coerce him into being okay with his left-handed spikes

(shouto also feels better about it when deku points out the left-handed angles thing)

so yeah that’s the big three scary first year starters: calculating and gutsy deku, who occasionally makes plays so gutsy he’s at risk of twisting one of his limbs in a very scary way (he’s always bruised in weird ass places from volleyball); raging, aggressive but also cunning kacchan, who is undoubtedly the loudest on any court he’s on, and ambidextrous hot and cold shouto, who does a pretty solid general defense with little holes but has scary aggressive spikes

btw shouto’s got a fanclub and they call him the volleyball prince

also at one point they totally play a practice match against shiketsu and UA loses bc inasa starts antagonizing shouto for being exactly like his father (inasa asked for enji’s autograph after a match once when he was a kid and got rudely blown off) and shouto gets offended and starts targeting inasa and then they get outplayed (it was a close match though ‘cuz both of them couldnt get their heads out of their asses and both their teams were suffering as a result)

alrighty, the other players in that fanart lmao!

kirishimaaaaa my dude my bro, super solid libero, always pumps up the team, and his defense is unbreakable! will receive even the scariest, most powerful spikes and smile cheerfully through it; will always insist that you’re manly for playing with everything you have and never letting fear get in the way of going for it

his middle school had a huge and scary substitute gym teacher who didn’t have mercy and spiked hard right to the faces of the students, and kiri really wanted to run forward to receive the spike and yell about how unfair this teacher was but he froze because the spike seemed unforgiving and if he received it wrong, what if his nose broke? what if he fell and broke something from the impact? mina didnt pause though and she received the spike and told off their substitute teacher and then reported it to their homeroom teacher and it was so manly of her, he promised himself he would never hesitate just bc of a scary spike again

btw mina’s all-around athletic and could probably make it onto the girls vball team but she’s probably on the UA dance team (UA is a powerhouse school for many sports, and theyre famous for their athletics department bc they often hire (former) pro-athletes to teach and coach)

iida comes from a family of sprint runners and he’s the one they trust for the most running; he’s their first year decoy and he’s fast af for such a big guy, and he often also provides extra block support from zooming left and right

also enjoys helping out the managers and corralling his team into being good students; he’d offer to tutor kirishima but kiri seems to have fun trying to be friends with bakugou lol; he makes it known that he’s there if kiri wants some extra patience to go along with his studies though

sero guess blocks so accurately people like to say that he’s got tape coming from his elbows, bringing the ball straight to his arms so that he can block; actually he’s pretty known for having weirdly accurate control bumping the ball back from places other than his hands (esp his elbows though), like he’s just so aware of his body, and he uses everything he can to keep the ball off the ground so he’s good at general defense

some other people i wanna mention:

aizawa’s their supervising teacher and the first year homeroom teacher (he gets to hear bakugou explode both first thing in the morning AND right at the end of the day, oh joy); all might just coaches ‘cuz he does other former pro stuff during class time, so he somehow ended up in charge of the volleyball club after the previous teacher stopped being able to

he never went pro but he’s a black belt mixed martial artist, and he still does those parent-child karate classes with hitoshi (who is now close to black belt and on the demo team, since they’ve been doing this since hitoshi was like five) and eri (who just got her yellow belt! aizawa is soft)

only hizashi, nemuri, oboro and his kids know this but he’s also REALLY good at doing aerial silk and he looks graceful af when he does it

hitoshi started kinda learning aerial silk when hizashi took him to a rock climbing place that had the silks on the ceiling (dont at me, there’s a place EXACTLY like this where i used to live lmao) and found out they offer classes there, and hizashi laughed and said “yknow your dad is pro at those right”

ochako is their first year manager, and when everyone is confused about kacchan continuing to call deku something so mean, she talks about how the nickname is cute and gives off the impression that he’s trying his best and when deku grins and blushes and seems to be happy with it, the whole team starts calling him deku with the same intentions and fondness behind it

every time other people hear UA calling their starting setter “deku” theyre so confused

nejire is the third year manager leaving and she does gymnastics and dance outside of school

mirio is the ace and his thing is that he is very strong and very precise, and he moves like he phases through the other players

tamaki is a middle blocker that can adapt all kinds of playing strategies pretty fast as long as he’s got time to digest them and decent food in his stomach—he’s a great decoy ‘cuz his spikes are hard and he’s pretty fast too, and while he prefers read blocking, there are a few times he guess blocks and it’s accurate af and kinda scary honestly

tamaki and mirio are also pretty fearsome ‘cuz people start off scared of mirio’s power spikes and serves (btw his goal is to spike a million service aces LOL), and then tamaki kind of surprises them ‘cuz he seems to be able to just? do everything??? (and theyre extra surprised bc no doubt he’ll be talking himself down and doubting himself before the match and the opponents will think like “oh good he’s mentally weak” and he kind of is but also holy shit??? we got blocked AGAIN???) and so they sort of only keep a peripheral eye on mirio while they start focusing on tamaki, and then all of a sudden mirio’s not where you thought he was and how’d he get there so fast and there other players in the way??? and then mirio spikes one in

this isn’t really related to anything else but you BET mirio can bend low and do insanely accurate bump receives from pretty close to the ground like! his thighs and knees are legend

we don’t really know any second year bnha students, but i’d like to think their starting team isn’t just first years, so i’d say like… hm or mb tamaki is starting setter (all the stuff about adapting and easily digesting strategies still applies, as well as his flexible skillset, it just now includes setting) and mirio is his ace, but all might puts deku in a lot more than you’d expect a bench player to be subbed in not only ‘cuz it shakes up the other team to see such a meek-looking kid do these gutsy-ass sets, but also bc it’s good for tamaki’s mental health that he feels like he’s got a really great setter right there supporting him as well, even though he knows (objectively) that he can hold the fort on his own

so yeah, id say tamaki and mirio for sure starters (mirio is captain), kirishima’s a starter (he’s always been really good, he just used to get a little scared off in matches sometimes, but since the thing with mina, he’s been really gunning for it, and also conveniently their last really good libero graduated the year before and they didn’t really have a good backup), shouto’s a starter (he’s lowkey mad about it bc it feels like he’s fulfilling his dad’s legacy and he doesnt want to be), and probably two second years, that feels fair

bakugou’s benched bc his temper’s still a little too unwieldy for the court (much to his dismay), sero’s still patching up holes in his defense, and deku could stand to watch other people’s playing styles, but u bet theyre all fearsome af when theyre on court: deku seems to be the only one that seems to be able to bring out shouto’s terrifying spikes for now; after their first qualifiers, rumours fly around the vball circuit about his angry pinch server that’s so mad he’s not a regular, he takes it all out on his serves and rip the team that has to try and receive them

well okay, so bakugou is the only that i can qualify as actually fearsome bc even when he’s being intimidating sero is a pretty chill dude, and deku looks too nice to really be scary so the opponents usually arent scared until he starts playing and then for them it’s just this internal monologue of “what the fuck? what the FUCK???”

and sero, while chill, is the type to be aggressively cheerful and grin really wide after he blocks and gives you, the opponent, really supportive feedback that sort of still offends you but in a way you cant refute because every word he said was nice and his demeanour was nice too and yet? you kinda wanna strangle him??? and then he laughs winsomely and blocks your next spike too (like, “awh i noticed you have a tendency to follow here when xyz happens, but better luck next time right? that’s usually a pretty good play”)

and of COURSE their school banner says “plus ultra”

ANYWAYS i went OFF lmao i can’t believe i really wrote 2.9k of headcanons for this

Moriarty: Firstly, for rudeness directed at you and your cousin which started a chain of hostility between us and with Nathaniel gone, I would find it in my best interest to be on better terms with everyone.

Hunt: I suppose I should apologize as well. I think I may have taken it a little too far with the door.

Moriarty: You don't need to worry about paying for the door by the way, I'll bear that.

👹 How does you OC act around different people and how does their personality change to match the environment they’re in? How do they act with: friends, family, strangers, children or their lover(s)? - BELLUS: Theyre all a lil mean to strangers tbh but out of all of them bellus is probably the nicest to strangers? He’s just v curious and willing to help out people long enough to satisfy his own curiosity or if it has something to do with romance. Friends & family are pretty much treated the same where he wants their attention the Most and since hes pretty extroverted, he ends up following them around and dragging them into whatever he wants to do because Friendship is involving your friends!! Hes also a v physically affectionate person that gives out compliments as soon as he thinks of them. And all thats just turned up more if he manages to get a lover. As for children, he doesnt really treat them any different than he does a stranger. Maybe a bit more condensing - MERI: So its already established he has fun pranking and bothering people. Those pranks dont stop with friends & family, its just that hes more willing to hear out people hes close to when they dont like the most recent prank he pulled on them. It still takes him a bit to understand Why they wouldnt like the prank but hes still more open to hearing them out and thats a start! With a lover, im not fully sure how he’d act? he doesnt really have romance on the same level as importance as bellus does (really none of the others do-) so he’d be caught v off guard having a crush in the first place and probably be v tsundere about having Feelings. and then if they actually get together, he’d be v protective and a lot more willing to listen to them no matter what because he Knows he’s a little shit. as for kids, hes more likely to play pranks on them because theyre more likely to fall for tricks that grown ups have already learned to avoid. and the lost boys at least are also more likely to get over it compared to adults in neverland- - CASPIAN: tbh with strangers hes just vibing. watching. listening. he tends to know a lot about people he never even talks to because he spends so much time people watching and listening on nearby conversations. and hes unlikely to start conversations with people he isnt close to if he doesnt need something from them. with friends & family he does participate in conversations more, especially if theyre the type of people who need participation from him to feel comfortable, he just still likes listening more. and he likes listening to them talk about whatever theyre thinking about which is the reason he listens to bellus talk about his current crush all the time. he also takes a lot of mental notes about things they mention so that he can do things like choose decent birthday gifts and make sure if theres a surprise planned for them its something they’ll actually like. with lovers, he starts to initiate conversations more often because he likes their voice the most so he wants to try to keep them talking to listen to them go on. he also probably asks them to listen to him play songs on all his different instruments and writes songs specifically for them. he doesnt really like kids tbh so he’d avoid them as much as he can get away with- - KENN: hes wary and a lil defensive towards strangers but that doesnt stop him from trying to keep bellus and meri from being too chaotic and upsetting people they dont know. he’ll be polite if someone he doesnt know talks to him, though that doesnt mean he’ll keep being nice if he thinks theyre being rude. hes used to being the one expected to take care of others so with friends, theyll be added to his little group of people he watches over. sometimes he slips into that same habit with family but hes also more willing to let himself be the one whos taken care of for once. if he had a lover, he’d end up falling into his habit of taking care of them but he’d also want them to take care of him too.... to see how it feels to be on the receiving end more often....... despite being assigned the mom friend position, he isnt really that nurturing naturally?? so he’d be V Awkward around an actual child, especially if they arent like the lost boys because even if theyre kids, he can just trust that they’ll survive taking care of themselves. but actual kids who need supervision will just have an awkward uncle figure now

Is there a reason for this? - BELLUS: hes more comfortable following orders, though maybe with a little rebellion to cause whoever’s giving him the orders a lil grief. he thinks its funny. if the person giving the orders is someone he trusts, then he tends to not really think about the why behind anything they tell him to do unless its something v specific and strange. so he ends up being a bit of a blind follower since he doesnt think people he trusts would try to hurt him on purpose. and no matter whos giving him orders, if hes upset with them then he’ll chose the malicious obedience route where he follows orders very passive aggressively - MERI: he wants to be the leader A Lot!! but he also isnt really good at being a leader. he gets caught off guard whenever someone willing hands him the leading position in any kind of situation since hes used to trying to fight kenn for that role - CASPIAN: he doesnt enjoy being the one in charge of people tbh. like if he was forced into the position he’d actually do a pretty good job with it but he doesnt like the responsibility that comes with having to be in charge. caspian prefers to instead follow orders and make sure theyre being carried out when people (meri) start being unnecessarily rebellious in his opinion. that being said, he doesnt blindly follow orders and wont really listen to someone that he (or kenn-) doesn’t respect - KENN: hes been the one expected to be in charge so long that now it feels wrong not taking the lead in some capacity. he gets more uncomfortable with that role the more people hes expected to tell what to do and expected to be responsible for the mistakes they make. thats why he prefers to just lead a small group and maybe take orders from someone like conrad whos in charge of the whole his lil group is a part of

Will they live to old age? - BELLUS: was probably a v innocent child tbh?? he just kinda went along with a lot of the things the others did since he’s the baby of the group and as they all got older, meri was the one who taught him the most about Crimes - MERI: 100% even more destructive as a child, he just didnt really know then the full consequences of his actions. he still doesnt really think about them nowadays too but hes still more Aware in the first place - CASPIAN: he was always quiet, even as a kid though he was also more shy back then. now he’d say hes more confident and that not talking much doesnt mean hes still the shy kid he used to be - KENN: a lot more outgoing and mischievous as a kid! he was still trying to figure out how to be in charge of a lil group like his friends and he doubts he would’ve really gotten far if caspian wasnt always there to help out - im torn between them all aging normally now that they’re vibing on the mainland or mermaids having a lil piece of neverland inside them no matter where they go and only really physically aging when they mentally age as well. like the mental growth they have and more concepts they learn that are associated with adulthood like grief, they more they turn physically into an adult. i think either way, none of them really understand the concept of dying from old age though
