I'm sure it has been written about many times before but my gf is watching Utena and I'm going crazy over the foreshadowing in these statues
The Rape of Persephone, young girl (Kore/Persephone—she would have been a young girl, Kore is literally the word for maiden) is kidnapped by a family member and forced to stay with him, her being with him makes life bad for everyone else (Demeter causing winter)
Orpheus tries to be a hero and save Eurydice from her fate but ultimately it is his love for her that dooms her
The Bremen Town Musicians is a story about escaping to a better life and "resilience and refusing to stay down when others put you down"

It's midnight and I can't sleep because i have yet again thoughts to share. I just came to think of something unsettling and it's bothering me so much that I just couldn't continue with my life without shari g this with anyone.
I'm German. So when it comes to things that are somehow connected to germany, I’ll know it. And I'll be like "Oh, yeah I know that too, that's funny".
Example: when Wednesday started speaking German (sort of).
I also watch and read blue lock. So when this mf came up:
Micheal fucking Kaiser who speaks german just like we can see in this panel ("auf die Knie"/eng: kneel), I was like oh, yeah makes sense he's playing for one of the most popular and successful football Clubs of Germany. Hell, members of my family are huge Bayern München fans (that's the original name btw, not bastard munchen). So naturally he speaks german. His name is so painfully German too, my old teacher's name was Misses Kaiser so yeah. The only thing more German than this is if his name was Müller.💀
But that's not what this is about.
This is not about the fact that he is German.
This is about the fact that he is from fucking Munich and it just hit me recently when I thought back to my own visit there while going through my pictures. It's beautiful there, really. A regular big city in Germany. Whatever.
WHAT IM TRYING TO SAY IS THAT THEY HAVE A DIALECT!
Just like people from Texas have an accent, people from Munich, the very place the bastard munchen players come from, have an ACCENT. Of course not everyone and all that but still. THIS ACCENT EXISTS AND I FORGOT ABOUT IT AND NOW I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT IT.
Because NOW THAT BLUE LOCK SEASON 2 IS ANNOUNCED IM SCARED THAT THEY WILL GIVE KAISER THE MOST DISTURBING BAVARIAN (bayrisch) DIALECT BECAUSE I THINK THIS ACCENT IS SO SILLY.
(no hate to those who have it, it's totally normal. I just dont understand yall😃 I feel like this)
BECAUSE CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS GUY PICKING A FIGHT ISAGI WITH A SILLY DIALECT?
I CAN'T.
For those who cant imagine the impact of this dialect I found a good video to show the difference between standard German and Bavaria dialect. The girl in the white speaks with dialect Btw.
Part 1 || Part 2

Theres just something so satisfying about watching your favorite tv shows on dvd. Streaming is always reliant on a good internet connection (and just going to absolute shit rn anyways). Pirating is often a 50/50 on if you find good quality, subtitles etc, especially for a bit older shows. Dvds are just... You have good quality, you have subtitles, you have the joys of putting a disc in the drive, you have the dvd start sceen, you have special features, you dont need an internet connection, you paid for it and now own it, people need to physically break into your house and steal it to take it away from you.
Was even better when most laptops used to have a dvd drive themselves but the portable ones are pretty small and light, well worth it in my opinion.

God I really need to relisten to The Adventures of Superman radio show (1941-1951) again and tally the amount of times Jimmy Olson watches a man die in front of him.
Because I started a tally about halfway into my listening of the show and I had a tally of 31.
I listened to only around 20-25 arcs.
And out of those, people died in front of this 14-17 year old copyboy 31 times, often due to brutal gunshot wounds. And because it’s a show from the 40s, it’s never addressed at all.
Genuinely need to make an essay one of these days on the change and development of his character and how it evolved pre-during-post WWII. Especially how he was used as a vessel for pushing the ideology of “self-sacrifice for the greater good” propaganda to glorify the idea of dying for the war for children listening to the show that would soon be drafted. And how he was used to push ideas of religious and racial tolerance post-war.
I don’t tend to nerd out about history stuff a lot on this blog but the whole “media is created by its time, of its time, for its time,” is extremely prevalent during this time with the fact that nearly zero broadcasted radio shows weren’t propaganda to some level.

New pet peeve discovered: documentaries where the German dub is obviously a bad (word-for-word, not idiom-checked, literal) translation from English so that it affects the grammar and ends up making me want to correct every 3rd sentence.
Directly followed by (prehistoric) predators that are roaring the whole time. Buddy the way you're announcing your presence every 4 seconds i doubt you will ever successfully hunt down anything.
It's so annoying.
Also. Disneyification of - prehistoric or recent, doesn't matter - animals in a documentary. I found a 2 part upload on youtube that made me suffer for 2 x 45 minutes in the hope of it getting better. And to add insult to injury, it even had digital wolves. Wolves! Which could've been used from recent footage of the real thing and i'm pretty sure the channel (iirc it's a Canadian one) has enough footage of those.

Ich würde sagen, tun wir einfach was. Schnüffeln wir ein bisschen herum.
drei Fragezeichen out of context, oder: Justus, Peter und Bob, immer.
