I want to mention a bunch of things that are in Hi Nay to see if people would be interested in listening to it
Creepy priest gets turned into a human puppet by a non-binary magic user surgeon in the 1940s
Romantic full body surgery
Queer detective duos where one is an effervescent smartass and the other is Very Repressed (1980s and 2020s edition) and one is hopelessly in love with the other one
5 foot tall fat pansexual WOC protagonist (cute, terrifying) who canonically left the Philippines during the Duterte presidency
Drippy Bloody Monster Husband Crawling On The Walls (his wife is an Instagram influencer)
1920s interracial lesbian couple
Villain literally named Mr. Realman
Fake conman guru offended to find out his magic is real actually
6 foot 2 strong armed lesbian protagonist who sometimes wields an axe
Wandering magical hobo who saves people from The Horrors (what is his secret)
Elephant sized wolves living in the mountains of Canada who will sometimes bite the heads of human predators
A musical episode
"I assume this character is queer because this is Hi Nay" - one of our listeners
Alasdair Stuart (Peter Lukas from the Magnus Archives) voices a sad pining gay old man in one of the episodes

What do some mean by a fictional character cannot be shipped because they didn't give their consent ESPECIALLY in a romance series?!
How do you expect readers that read the series mainly for the romance not ship characters whether it's for fun or a potential storyline.
How do fictional characters that are a figment of someone's imagination give their consent? They're words on paper. They don't exist.
This logic still boggles my mind.
Regardless whether readers ship them in the present setting or a future setting doesn't matter—are the characters in a loving, consensual relationship? Does fanfic or artworks depict them in consensual scenes or something connected to their overall journey? Then where is the damn problem then?
It doesn't matter if they are not romantically involved right now or at odds, if they are depicted in a healthy and happy relationship then what's so problematic or creepy about it? If the author promised a HEA for all the characters in her ROMANCE series then... it's not mindboggling to pair up characters.
As readers, especially women, we get shamed enough by certain people in society for reading smut—we don't need readers in the same fandom to shame us for shipping a perfectly healthy and loving ship.

To this day it still bothers me that Steve Rogers had a fucking support group who they talked stuff like "move on blablabla" & he did in fact not moved on & went back in time to be with a woman just to leave everyone behind.

the thing about odazai isn’t the age gap it’s the fact that they met when dazai was a minor and oda was an adult, and oda repeatedly refers to viewing dazai as a child. taking romantic interest in someone you met when they were underage and making advances when they turn 18 is creepy and it’s weird for people to push that behavior onto oda and turn dazai into a victim of that.
ITS NOT CANON YOU IDIOT NONE OF IT IS REALLLLLLL

MorticiA GETOU??????
YESSSSSSS! suguru as morticia addams is soooooo sexy to me <3 him w his long flowing black hair, dark eyeliner, all black outfit w a cloak (and perhaps a delicious form fitting dress with a deep v plunge that exposes his cleavage/chest 👀… perhaps w some dark red lipstick too… 👀) him telling reader not to torture themselves because that’s HIS job… oh i would let suguru torture me absolutely… reader kissing his hand, then up his arm, and then on his neck while he moans loudly and pulls their hair… gulps. basically. sexy sultry seductive suguru <3 who’s also creepy & disturbing & off-putting & sadistic <3 i need him carnally……. if he stepped on me i would say thank you and if he tied me up while saying romantically devoted things to me i would fall in love all over again ALSO ADDING THIS ON BUT OMFG… reader laying their head in suguru’s lap while suguru plays w their hair… god

What if I made this as off-putting as possible instead of romantic.
#I mean I'm very heavily leaning into the humor for this one but what if I made it funny AND creepy#then I wouldn't have to pretend I know how to write a functional relationship#(well. as functional as these two characters can be anyway.)#the problem is that most of my ideas are about analyzing relationships between characters#and some of them are fucked up with the romantic element unrealized (which is a lot easier to write because of. you know. personal history)#and some of them are about how mental illness interacts with one's relationships#but the rest of them are straight up 'how would these characters get together and build a relationship that works for them'#and I WANT to write those things because they're important to me and because I want there to be more fic for my unpopular ships#but the idea of ME trying to write something where the entire focus is people getting into a happy and relatively straightforward#relationship feels...laughable.#c2g is different because it's not like...straightforward at all? there are a lot of elements at play there.#and the characters are ALREADY together. and most of the fic really is just unpacking their psyches.#I wouldn't call it a romance fic?#but Deranged Oneshot is...probably somehow actually closer to that idea.#but like. what if it wasn't.#ugh maybe I DO post this one anonymously like I hate considering that but that might be the#only way it actually gets finished#(though. of course. I have to figure out how to get c2g finished too. because we are ALSO struggling there just#for different reasons)#mc13 writes#c2g#The Fic That's A Lot#(and others)

deetress would be a great match because dee would benefit from having a positive relationship with another woman, would have a steady but healthy source of validation, would be less desperate, get some distance from the gang, realise the impact of their abuse by seeing how the waitress was affected, learn to not feel like she has to compete with all women, have someone who she could love without feeling like they were seconds from rejecting her.
and the waitress would benefit because dee likes her independence too much to stalk her.
