The Birth of a Sister|A Bond Forged by Blood| A Twisted Wonderland Fanfic | Malleus Draconia's Sister?| Prologue

“YOUR HIGHNESS, QUEEN MALEFICIA” A dark fairy with what we assume to have a high title bursts in the Regent’s Office.

“I hope this is worth my time, Dame Lilith” The queen, clearly annoyed with the incompetence of her council, threatened the newcomer in the room.

“THE - hick” She struggles to utter the next words as the atmosphere darkens. 

“ The egg is beginning to hatch “ 

The room erupted in a joyous atmosphere

“Congratulations, your majesty.”

“Long Live the Draconians”

Hearing the news, the Queen left her post and went to the chambers where the so-called egg was housed.

Although it was not apparent, the Queen was happy. Her child, Princess Meleanor, and her husband both died early in the human war leaving behind 2 eggs that had a higher chance of staying unhatched.

As time went by people slowly lost hope for the future until 270 years when the 1st egg hatched into the person now known as the heir of Briar, Malleus Draconica.

Now, nearly 50 years later, the other egg hatched and right in front of her eyes.

Tears of joy spilled from her eyes as she was reminded of her grandson’s and her daughter’s day of hatching. Blood truly does not lie in the Draconia line.

The young hatchling turned out to be a girl, just as her daughter predicted and thus, she named her “Maleka” in hopes of her being the Angel to the dark fae and to always do Justice together with her brother.

“Grandmother? You called?” The young dragon fae looked at the crib curiously.

“Come child, meet your sister.” The elder showed a faint smile as she lifts the hatchling to let the brother see.

“Soft…” Malleus whispers as he pokes the baby’s cheeks.

“Careful now, she might get hurt”

“It’s very small”, Malleus says as the child grasps his pinky

“Yes.”

“I am very big”

“Yes”

“ That means I have to protect her right?”

“As expected of my grandson” 

It was at that time that Malleus found determination to become a king to make a kingdom safe for his beloved sister.

To do that, he must learn a lot of things, causing him to be too busy during the day to spend time with her.

When he does find the time to visit her, He finds her too cute to wake up as it was already late.

As a child, only 52 years of age, he found this dilemma perplexing to solve on his own so he sought his guardian’s advice.

“What am I to do when the child is sleeping, Lilia? I do not wish to awaken her but at the same time, I want to spend time with her”

“... I’m afraid I do not have much experience on this matter”

Out of the blue, the very person in charged of his sister inserted in their conversation without warning

“How about you play her music?” 

“That’s a great idea Lilith!” 

Driven with a newfound determination, the young child had an addition to his packed schedule, to read and sing for his sister half an hour before his bedtime… Somehow, he always manages to sneak into his sister’s room to do so and sleep with her once finished.

Mike Patton and the "piadina gate"

CHAPTER 1: THE WAR.

Bologna, 2004.

Mike is in Bologna with the Fantomas. Bologna is located in Emilia Romagna, and one of the typical foods of the region is called Piadina (or piada, colloquially). It's a kind of flatbread filled with cheese and cold cuts (but not only that) and is also sold as street food because it's easy to carry. There was probably a piadina truck around there somewhere.

Min 0:47: Siete stronzi! Sì voi, in bianco! Sto parlando a voi! You guys are jerks! Yes, you in white! I'm talking to you! (I'll digress on the term 'Stronzo': in Italian, it literally means 'piece of shit,' but it's less harsh. It's still an insult, make no mistake. However, one of our characteristics is that we have a rich vocabulary of insults and vulgarity, and we insult each other most of the time, so Mike fits right in, LOL).

CHAPTER 2: THE PEACE.

min 0:10: Bella Bologna!: Mike is off to a great start with typical Italian expressions. "Bella" is a kind of greeting, it was widely used by Italian rappers and roughly means "everything's good, all good." It's not directly translatable, as in Italian, "bella" means "beautiful."

Forsa ragassi!: This guy is a true legend. "Forza ragazzi" means "come on, be brave!" but it's an exhortation that we use in a thousand situations. Mike pronounces the 's' and 'z' in the typical Emilian and Romagnol way, as if they were all sibilant 's' sounds. It's something that only a native speaker would be able to do and perceive because it exists only in spoken Italian.

min 0:50: È vero che voi chiamate Bologna "la grassa"?: Is it true that you guys call Bologna "the fat one"? ("Bologna the Fat" due to its delicious and hearty cuisine. In Italy, we have nicknames for some of the major cities. Rome is "the Eternal City," Naples is "the City of 500 Domes," and so on. Bologna boasts at least two more nicknames: "the Learned one" (because the first European university was founded here in 1088) and "the Red one" (for its red roofs and walls and, later on, for its political tradition closely aligned with the left).

However, it's worth noting that Mike might sometimes mix up gender, so he could have been referring to her, Syusy Blady, who was also a bit on the heavier side at that time. Maurizio Costanzo was an important and famous Italian journalist who was known also for being overweight. However, I must clarify that Costanzo probably wasn't really at the concert LOL. BTW, Mike said "aquì" and it's spanish, in italian is "qui").

And how about this? An American doctor talking about their experiences helping out at a Palestinian hospital in the warzone, and the children aged 5-8 who were brought in with sniper shots to the head? (Not a single one of these children survived, btw)

"On one occasion, a handful of children, all about ages 5 to 8, were carried to the emergency room by their parents. All had single sniper shots to the head. These families were returning to their homes in Khan Yunis, about 2.5 miles away from the hospital, after Israeli tanks had withdrawn. But the snipers apparently stayed behind. None of these children survived."

That sounds horrific, I hope they catch the person/people who did this since a shooting like this leaves so much evidence behind. It should be relatively easy to first match the rifle bore and ammunition to the gun type and determine if it's Israeli issue, since Israel makes their own M89SR sniper rifles. Snipers generally aim for the body, not head, so it remains a mystery to me what possible reason anyone has for this since it sounds like they aren't actually trained as a sniper so I'd also ensure it wasn't a regular rifle like the Tavor either. Of course, you'd also check the Hamas arsenal which relies on the oversized AM-50 Sayyad. Quite frankly, that wouldn't leave a hole in a head exactly, it's a 50 calibre, so I'd compare the bullets to any of the Russian, Chinese and Iranian weaponry Hamas uses. They also stole a bunch of Israeli equipment so that possibility would complicate the investigation but if it wasn't a Tavor or M89SR you'd know Hamas was probably behind it. Triangulate that evidence with which combatants were active in the area and you'd have the basis for a criminal investigation for war crimes with the ICJ - but of course you'd have to not start with the assumption that it was Israeli from the outset, since that would prejudice the investigation. FYI armies don't generally withdraw but 'leave snipers behind' - that's not how snipers are used. Considering this physician travelled with members of the WHO and UN I would hope these incidents have been reported and investigated.

Kazuha almost made my presentation flop

04/11/21 - Genshin challenge 02/44

Oh, he for sure is one of my super faves too! Anyone who is obsessed with samurai (or just played ghost of Tsushima) probably noticed how he is a walking amalgamation of samurai stereotypes: doing haiku, playing flute (well, a leaf?), being philosophical about the nature, a bunch of “sessha” and “de gozaru”, honor talk, the anime katana slash, hell, even his teaser had references to Akira Kurosawa (btw, his theme SLAPS). This made some people think he’s too cliche, but honestly, I love it. The sum of all those things, with his calm nature-loving personality and amazing design, makes me like him a lot. We need more samurai in Genshin.

Fun fact, I remember vividly that the time he came out, I was having night classes, and it was at the same day of my final project presentation from my first college. A nice plus, I have social anxiety!! Another one: pandemics, so I was having distance learning. So there I was, sweating, and I couldn’t even know if it was because of the silly samurai guy, or because I had to talk while the whole class was watching. And Soon™.

What happened? Of course, with my luck and good timing, my group was presenting EXACTLY when the banner came out, and there I was, going insane from double anxiety. When my friend started talking her part, I just immediately ran to my controller and desperately started hitting the buttons to wish. I swear, I probably never went through wishes as fast as that, I must've broken all my records there and then. I got him and won 50/50 🥹🥹🥹🙏🙏=D =D I was definitely trembling. But now I was happy and not in utter despair in the presentation, happy ending! I still think what would have happened if I lost. It was the time I was the most obsessed with the game, and Kazuha is on my top faves, I knew I WANTED him. I would be shaken for sure 🥴🥴🥴. Idk how I would be able to present anything........,,, I can’t remember if the camera was on or not that day, but I’m good at masking emotions if my life depends on it 😵‍😵‍

About the drawing, it’s the first one I liked in quite some time (at the time). Drawing his face in profile masked a bit my terrible anatomy. There are some perspectives issues too 😵😵 I would fix his face, color more the lineart and make the color contrast better. But one thing I loved is the composition and the background idea, it fits him 💜💜

1:41 - Rose was eager to play this game in the first place so she could resurrect her dead cat, AND GOD DAMMIT THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT SHE'S GOING TO DO. All these flaming tornadoes and flying wizards can go to hell.

1:57 - There's this whole spiel on Sburb's "entry items" and what they mean, which I won't get into now. But here's another brief spin on it. John's was an apple from a tree, obviously like the one from the bible. In that tale, the apple represented a temptation to Adam and Eve, and trouble was a-lurkin' if they took a bite. In retrospect the liquor bottle similarly represents a kind of temptation in the context of this character arc.

2:31 - Usually with acts in Homestuck, there's something that happens at the end that brings the act back full circle. Act 3 started with Nanna's inscription to John, and here we see when and how that was written, while getting a very brief glimpse of what's under the clouds and thus a peek at the much bigger story waiting for us to discover.

2:36 - One wonders if she was aware Dave had given Jaspers some useful tentacles to bail her out with before she jumped. It was quite a leap of faith. Or just outright suicidal. The Lalondes and Striders are basically all cuckoo bananas. But anyways, let's reflect on the teamwork involved to make everything work. Rose bringing Jaspers back, Dave making him a princess, Jaspers saving Rose… God teamwork is great. So is friendship. If your story isn't in some way basically about friendship and teamwork, you are failing hilariously at your job.

2:50 - In [this part of the] montage we see a very quick rewind of WV blasting off in his big can. Which turns out to be the cork of a huge bottle, the unsurprising shape of the exile station which formed in Rose's crater. Exile station designs are based on the entry item of that location. As if you didn't know that already.

2:58 - Sure cuttin' it close there Rose… My characters never listen to me.

3:01 - The thing being revealed here: Dave's copy of the game has been stored in this lotus time capsule for millions of years. WHAT?? Yes, the same juice-stained copies currently on the roof below his window. How do they get here? This is how most mysteries work in Homestuck. You know a thing is going to happen in the future, but you don't know why or how. So you just keep reading, while screaming.

3:02 - The animation just keeps on going, and the song "Sburban Jungle" sorta bumps it up a notch. John proceeds to climb his house while kicking imp and ogre ass. There are a few moments in the earlier acts which seem to trick you into thinking Homestuck is all about getting cool gear, gaining levels, and kicking ass like you expect to do in such games. This is kind of misleading though. In totality, HS isn't really about ass-kicking at all. It's about presenting awesome fantasy environments and situations in which ass-kicking could THEORETICALLY take place, but very rarely does except in dramatic hot points like this. Instead, those environments serve as backdrops for a huge amount of dicking around on the internet, babbling to friends about feelings, and being a bunch of stupid useless kids struggling to grow up. If you are ever under the impression HS is about anything else, you are invariably in for a world of hurt.

3:25 - The best part of the animation is when John just runs up and clocks a hapless imp in the face. Don't even try to tell me it isn't.

3:29 - Whereas this imp gets inadvertently Cosby'd into the pit. You'd think John would later find the Cosbytop lying around somewhere down there, but I don't think that's what happens. I think he just makes another one?? Why the hell not. The great thing about alchemy is it puts very little premium on almost any single object. Except ones which are Plot Critical to be unique, like the game disc, or the matriorb. It's almost like… the game knows when an item is plot critical?? It's almost like… my brain as the author of the story IS the game???

3:34 - Then John boings into the thing. The end.

timeline of new year's day:

2:50 AM, everybody else has fallen asleep, I move to the floor so as not to disturb the person I was previously laying on top of with my coughing fits (those happen sometimes)

4:02 AM, I walk upstairs, pour myself some sparkling cider, go back downstairs, get A Wrinkle in Time from my bag, go back upstairs, read the entire book

6:00 AM, I go downstairs once more, fall asleep eventually, apparently steal all my friend's blankets

9:00 AM, I awake, 2 of my friends are already up and the other wakes up shortly. We talk awhile and go upstairs for breakfast (btw "downstairs" is the basement of my friend's house)

I finished my first blind run of DigiSurvive!!

Being a blind run I, really avoided looking at my karma stats even until the end of the game (lol) but upon further snooping, I apparently the Moral ending so spoilers ahead (with images too, be warned)

I actually got a happy ending?! All things considered. Definitely reminisce a LOT from the original DigiAdventure (down to fighting in the villain's space warp thing...and especially everyone happily returning to their world leaving their Digimons behind) but I'll, leave my full onions on that premise for my ""full thoughts"" review-ish another day.

Since it's a happy ending of course the latter half is not as crazy as the first half and does have the cliche shounen ending trope of "why we should save the world because not everyone is evil" and power of friendship thing, but eh, I DON'T CARE. It was still beautiful and I'm just happy that everyone...well, survived, regardless ;_;

The only criticism I have is that since its borrowing a lot from Adventures, (with some 02 and Tamers here and there) some of the characters sadly doesn't feel as....fleshed out in comparison? I think that's to be answered mostly when I played other routes. But I still think Some things in this specific route could use some more...time? Renamon's death was too short-lived to make an impact, and while the interactions between the mons and their tamers were good, I'm not sure if anyone would easily buy them since 50% of them does feel boiled down as "I did this because I'm your destinied partner" and doesn't have the buildup like say, the original Adventures in comparison. Honestly that buildup between friendship is what makes the ending to the OG Adventures so impactful, man :^)

...I said that, and I thought I wouldn't be as sad with the ending if they pulled the same thing as Adventures with the whole "farewell with your mons for now and see them again someday" thing (which they did) but I still ended up tearing up a bit :^) so yeah.

I'm honestly glad that they used a video game format like this to utilize multiple endings and character deaths, etc, it really raises how high the stake the original Adventures could be if they went full horror with it LOL.

I'm definitely saving my full thoughts on the game once I played all the routes but I'm 100% happy I got this game !! I love Z/ero Escape games and I love hobbyani/moncolles, and Digimon is the few existing franchises I know can make this combination of two of my fav type of games work! A sequel with an actual murder game someday, mayhaps? Who knows.

Now I'm just gonna...try finish other routes with less stalling as I could since I Really want to talk more about this game but I don't want to risk getting spoiled by doing that haha.

PS. The ending song being Miyuki's song...that also turned out to have the same instrumentals as the intro music, that was a beautiful touch...

Remember Amy McGrath? She’s a retired Marine fighter pilot who lives in Kentucky.

She ran for US Senate against Mitch McConnell in 2020. Because Democrats everywhere loathe Moscow Mitch, they donated a whopping $94 million to her campaign – even though her chances of defeating McConnell were slim. The word “fundraging” comes to mind.

The Losing Democrats Who Gobbled Up Money  

In the closing days before the November 2020 election, Amy McGrath, a retired Marine fighter pilot challenging the powerful Republican incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell in Kentucky, sent a series of email blasts to her followers. The race was “tightening,” one said, and she needed more money “to hit Mitch harder than ever before.” Another urgent-sounding appeal hinted that a cash crunch might be at hand: “After tonight, we’ll have to make some big choices about the budget.” Yet another warned, “[W]e simply can’t afford to scale back any of our programs in the final days of this election.”

There was little evidence the contest was tightening. McGrath’s internal polls late in the summer gave her campaign team at least a little hope, but by October that was no longer the case. As for money, she already had enough. In fact, she had raised more than enough—tens of millions of dollars more—than what was needed to run a robust campaign in the state of Kentucky. By Election Day, McGrath had brought in a record-obliterating $94 million—$63 million more than had ever been raised for a campaign in Kentucky. McConnell dramatically stepped up his fundraising this time around, but she still outpaced him by $27 million.

That money didn’t help much. McConnell still won convincingly.

Modern political campaigns like McGrath’s are multimillion-dollar pop-ups. The operatives involved in them raise the money, spend it, shut it all down after Election Day, and move on.

When flashy new political personalities burst upon the scene or if candidates are running against incumbents who, outside their states/districts, have high negatives, there is a tendency to treat such people as messiahs.

The problem with that is these long shot phenoms suck money away from candidates in other parts of the country who may be less flashy but who have a far better chance of winning.

There are Trump Republicans in the US House like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, and Lauren Boebert who are repulsive. But they are certain to get re-elected no matter how much money people throw at their opponents. If verifiable photos emerged of them having an orgy with Vladimir Putin, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and several recent mass shooters, it would barely move the needle from Solid Republican to Likely Republican in their districts.

The people running against them and against similar Trumpsters in deep red districts are very nice, but donating to them won’t change things.

In a legislative body, power is in the hands of the majority. Awful people like Boebert and Gaetz are legislatively harmless as long as they remain in a minority.

On the other hand, there are Democrats in tight races where you can make an enormous difference. Keeping the number of House Democrats at 218 or above is the key to power. It’s not necessary for them to be charismatic or sexy.

Here are the 20 tightest US House races according to FiveThirtyEight’s Top 50 list as of early Wednesday.

Giving $5 to each of the Democrats above is a far better investment than dumping $100 on a single race in a way deep red district.

BTW, because of Alaska’s ranked choice system, no names are given in the listing above. But the incumbent Democrat is Mary Peltola, a native Alaskan who won an upset victory in a special election to fill a vacancy last summer.

If I have a personal favorite on that list, it’s Elaine Luria in VA-02. After redistricting in Virginia, Rep. Luria found herself in a district which is a Toss Up rather than Lean Democratic. If you’ve been watching the House January 6th Committee hearings then you’ve seen her at work. Rep. Luria is the committee member whose presentation exposed Sen. Josh Hawley running in fear from the terrorists he helped incite. 😅 Elaine Luria deserves a few bucks just for that. Though she’s an outstanding representative overall.
