Hey, is this the support line? I need urgent help! I found my Dad's phone and it's got a notification for your app - all it says is "Middle Eastern hunk package downloaded, applying reality changes" and a percentage counter which keeps climbing up. Our house and my clothes look weird, like they're changing or something. And I'm feeling a bit strange, like an itch all over. Is this your app? I can't get into his phone to stop it!
First of all, I'd like to apologize for the fact that support is occasionally a bit slow. We are not particularly well staffed at the moment. Then it can also happen that some requests have to be answered a bit short. And some requests are VERY special. Basically, there are hardly any restrictions regarding the use of Chronivac, but as a support staff member, I am required to hit the reset button in certain cases. Using it for illegal and, at least in my understanding, massively immoral purposes is a private matter, but there is no support here.
But now to your query: your father has good taste. But he is still very inexperienced with the use of the Chronivac app. If I see it correctly in his history, he has used it only once so far. But that's another story… In any case, his attitude is not without risk. Much too unspecific. He chose the scenario without giving any complementary information. So the whole thing can end up in a palace in Dubai. Or in a refugee tent in a civil war zone. Unfortunately, it's already too late to cancel and restart the process. But I can add a few specifications.
Your parents are both from Turkey. Edirne, to be precise. Your father made his career first in the police and later in the military. And he is very successful. That's why you grew up in Brussels. Your father is there at NATO headquarters. That is especially your luck. To grow up as a gay with a fetish for leather and uniforms, Belgium is certainly a better place than somewhere in Turkey.
Now you will ask yourself how the changes you observed in your house fit to a NATO general in Brussels. Just now you were in the toilet, which consists only of a hole in the floor. And what are the chickens doing on the terrace. Mehmet, it is June! Kırkpınar tournament! You are visiting your grandparents like every year. It is a matter of honor that your father competes in the tournament again. He has already won several times. And this year you proudly wear the kispet yourself for the first time.
Tumblr media
The first round went well. But this is not about winning. It's about the close exchange with your cousins.

On bergamot and aged brandy
EDIT 3/11/2023: Part three of the Perfume Rant is up, it's about my OC Nuria this time!
Hiiii~
With the successful reception of my Perfume Rant about Raphael's amazing fragrance, I've decided to tackle Astarion's!
For all of the technicalities, please refer to the first post.
Now, about our favourite vampire's scent.
In the previous post, I presented the great families of scents, as well as some concepts such as daytime/nightime perfumes, and how seasons are linked to them as well since temperatures affect the way scent molecules develop themselves. Based on the ingredients for Raphael's perfume and their potential order of notes, I had guessed an oriental perfume for him with intense projection, I may even suggest it to be more of a nighttime type of perfume as well, very enticing and enveloping.
Based on what we know of the ingredients listed for Astarion's perfume, he may very well be the exact opposite of Raphael's.
The notes Astarion gives for his perfume are bergamot, rosemary and a touch of aged brandy. Based on these scents and their olfactive families, I wager that we can yet again take these notes in the order they're given by Astarion, because it makes sense.
Top note: Bergamot is a fairly common top note. It is extracted from a bitter and inedible citrus of the same name, and creates a refreshing citrus scent with a spicy undertone. It is commonly associated with Chypre and Floral scents to give an energetic twist, although it can also be found in more classic perfumes.
Heart note: Rosemary is an aromatic herb, commonly used as a spice for cooking or for haircare to promote growth, strength and shine. It has a fresh, herbal scent fitting the Chypre family (woody scents), and provide for a clean and almost bittersweet scent.
Base note: Aged brandy isn't a scent in itself, however a clever mix of scents can give the impression of aged brandy. To obtain that type of scent, a blend of aromatics and musk may be possible - and we already have one aromatic in the heart note for that very purpose. I'd wager that adding scents such as oakmoss, musk and a hint of tobacco may very well do the trick. It adds an attractive depth to the fresh and clean impressions, without dirtying them. On the contrary, I think this complexity helps elevate the top and heart notes by being fairly complementary, since it retains some of the fresh tones as well through more aromatics, but it makes them feel warmer.
I think Astarion's perfume is about as enticing and pleasant as Raphael's, to be honest. However, it gives a very different impression. We start with a fresh citrus, then go for a clean woody tone, before finishing with a warm note. Overall, it is an elegant perfume that reflects both Astarion's youthful spirit now that he has gained his freedom, and his more distinguished side - visible in the way he dresses and behaves. I imagine it to have less projection than Raphael's perfume, however it'd be more inviting for intimacy - which is both sad and pleasant because we can associate it with Astarion's 200 years long prostitution job for Cazador, but also his way of getting us players in his good graces... Until he realises that he is having The Feelings as well. Interestingly, I see his perfume more fit as a daytime type, however it can be cleverly used as a nighttime perfume, as I just explained, thanks to its solid base note.
To conclude, I think his perfume would make for a wonderful unisex blend, it certainly feels very charming! In my opinion, this is the type of tasteful scent that makes you want to bury your face in the neck or the shirt of its wearer... Which definitely suits Astarion and how we feel about him.
Anway... I made that post while purposefully going blind on the already existing Astarion themed perfumes and candles, so please don't come after me if I miss the mark. I'd rather chat about it all because I really love perfume.
What's the next step? My own BG3 OC, Nuria. However, I'll release one more sample before tackling that one. I have a very precise image in mind for her, but I'd like to keep introducing her a bit more before that. Feel free to poke me if you're curious about her, though!

youve gotten a few asks about billford before, and your plans for ford's relationship with bill in your fic, but im curious if you personally ship it yourself/*like* it. and, just for the hell of it, if you have any opinion on billdip too, since that one's even more controversial.
I'm gonna put most of this under a cut since it's not only long, but also long about two different topics, but the tl;dr is:
Yeah, I'm a fan of billford. I don't think it's canon, inevitable, or necessary to their dynamic, and I'm still on the fence about whether things will tilt toward the romantic in my fic or if it'll stay platonic, but I do enjoy the ship a lot because it has a lot of (obsessive, weird, unhealthy, angsty) elements that interest me to explore in ships. Billdip, on the other hand, does nothing for me. I don't care about how people ship imaginary characters in their fictional fandoms and I'm not gonna block anybody for liking it, so this isn't a moral stance, here—I just don't like it personally.
One of the things that intrigues me most about a ship is the idea of love that's gone so far it isn't even love anymore but punched out the other side into unhealthy obsession, and "I'll spend the next thirty years of my life hunting you to death" versus "What if I turn you into a gold statue and carry you around to stare at you a lot" sure fit right into "unhealthy obsession." On top of that, some of my favorite ship dynamics are:
the worshiper and the person they've picked to revere as their god, either metaphorically or literally—with bonus points if the person they've devoted themself to doesn't deserve that worship and maybe isn't even all that special, and the worship actually reveals more about the mind of the lover than it does about the (un)divine nature of the beloved
the mad scientist and the muse who gives them ideas and inspires their work (one of my all-time OTPs has a line where the mad scientist says to his ex "we were each the muse to the other"), with bonus points if they both get so caught up in "what can we do together? What dreams can we make reality—" that they plunge into full "so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should" territory—and bonus bonus points if they eventually come out of the haze of SCIENCE and one of them is horrified by what they've done... but maybe the other one isn't.
two people who are wildly compatible with each other (similar hobbies, tastes, worldviews! they fill in the gaps in each other's personalities! they each happen to be the other's type! they understand each other like no one else can! whatever, fill in the blank!), but for some reason one betrayed the other, they've tried to kill each other, and now things are vicious and bloody and painful and raw between them; but if they talk to each other and accidentally let their guards down for even a split second, all that history is still there, they still like the same stupid movies and share the same stupid inside jokes no one else will ever understand and have the same stupid complementary life dreams, they could have been good for each other, but there's no road back to where they were before the betrayal. Their chemistry is like two huge magnets strapped to land mines: the attraction is as powerful as ever but heaven help them both if they ever touch.
or, alternatively, two people that have all that chemistry, but are just really toxic and do bad things when they're together and enable all each other's worst tendencies, even if they don't necessarily do bad things to each other; and they've got to navigate the fact that they might adore each other so much but they are objectively worse people when they're together.
I like ships with inhuman things. As a writer I like waxing romantic about the inhuman things and trying to convince the reader that yes, this too is beautiful and lovable when seen through the eyes of a lover. I will make you take the stupidest love interest seriously for five minutes. I've romanticized a sticky pile of goo, I've romanticized a robot spider, I've romanticized the concept of being a disembodied voice, I've romanticized a pteranodon made out of lava, and I'll romanticize a cyclopic gold-plated corn chip too, don't test me. Who better to adore a sentient triangle than a scientist-artist who sees the beauty in precise angles?
Depending on the headcanons and/or AUs you're working with, you can get all of these pretty darn easily out of Billford.
I like writing Ford as the awed naive intellectual, hungry for knowledge, for the secrets of the universe, for more, who was utterly dazzled and starstruck by this divinity who tantalized him with esoteric secrets—and who's been furious at Bill for thirty years for betraying him, hurting him, threatening his home and everyone he loves, but underneath all that also furious at him for not being what he advertised when he could have been that; and Bill, meanwhile, playing it cool, far too comfortable playing the role of faux god, but privately, secretly distraught that his favorite "student"—the one who takes Bill's "teachings" and gets creative and inventive with them, the one who always wanted to know more, not just about the universe but about Bill personally—his favorite student no longer worships him, doesn't even respect him, doesn't even see him as an equal, but looks at him like he's the scum of the universe, and Bill won't even admit that it bothers him but it's killing him that nothing he does can get his favorite to so much as smile at him again.
That's the dynamic in my head when I write them. You could play it as purely professional, a god disappointed to lose a worshiper like a boss disappointed to lose his best employee or a celebrity disappointed to lose the president of his fan club; or you could play it like platonic friendship, maybe a QPR; or you could play it like a romance. I like the zest added when you toss romance into this already nasty mess of emotions. I like capping off all that heartache with, "—and if things had turned out differently, maybe I would have taken your hand and traveled with you to the ends of eternity, if only you weren't [such a brutal heartless backstabbing piece of shit]/[unable to forgive a few white lies and some light torture]."
Billdip, on the other hand, does absolutely nothing for me. Not even just for the age reason—that does squick me out, but even if I try to look at it like "okay pretend he's aged up" or "stick it in an AU where they're both dumb kids having dumb kid crushes" I just, see nothing there. I don't even see anything there platonically. Like, legitimately—for the fic I'm working on, I've been trying to figure out what kind of dynamic/interactions they'd have beyond just "Dipper scowls at Bill a lot" and even on that level I've been struggling to think of something compelling between them. I look back on the fact that for a good few years billdip was the ship in the fandom and I go, "why? where's the meat? what do they do for each other?"
I'm forced to imagine that the ship must have been based on some combination of "fandoms naturally want to ship the everyman main character with the charismatic fun villain," "a bunch of teens with crushes on Bill were using Dipper as their self-insert stand-in," and "people assumed Bill wasn't lying when he said Dipper impressed him and didn't start revising that opinion until we got to see firsthand that he uses lines like that on everybody." It feels really uncharitable of me to the shippers to assume that their OTP is founded entirely on statistically average fandom trends and character misinterpretations rather than, like, y'know, traits actually present in the characters, so I'm taking it on faith that there's probably more to it than that and I just don't see it because it just ain't my jam.
When I do try to speculate harder on "how would I get them to interact with each other in a compelling way, like, just in a platonic sense?" my brain starts going "well, dipper's a nerd who's into the paranormal, he wants to know about mysterious things? maybe he's fascinated with bill as a mysterious thing? and maybe... idk, why would bill give a hoot about dipper—maybe bill takes advantage of that fascination, tempts him with more information, maybe he's amused by Dipper's curiosity about weird things—?" and that's usually about the point where I go "this is just, the way Bill and Ford met. This is the watered-down junior version of Bill and Ford's first few weeks." In trying to figure out what the heck Bill and Dipper would even talk about I keep accidentally recreating a less interesting version of Bill and Ford's dynamic.
I want and need Bill and Dipper to have an interesting character dynamic in this fic so being unable to come up with something that personally compels me has been actively frustrating me lmfao, but it does serve to illustrate my main point here: man, billdip does nothing for me so hard that I can't even see them platonically interacting.

Who's Your BEST MATCH? (According to Your Zodiac Sign)
Do you ever wonder why some couples seem to get along instantly and have few problems, and why others argue endlessly? We are just more compatible with some people. How do you know who you are compatible with, though? Astrology can be a great tool if you're trying to figure that out.
Some sign pairings are simply matches made in Heaven. They understand each other better than anyone, and they have complementary approaches to the same goal. Here are the best matches of the Zodiac:
Aries and Libra
Aries is decisive, assertive, and not afraid to confront someone if necessary. Libra, on the other hand, is indecisive but has natural diplomatic abilities, even if it means avoiding confrontation.
Together, they are an unstoppable power couple. Libra can rely on Aries to make decisions, and Aries can learn from Libra how to consider other points of view and not burn bridges with their explosive personality.
Aries can guide Libra on a self-discovery journey and teach them the value of being true to themselves. Libra, in turn, can teach Aries how to take into account the others around them and be less self-centered and selfish. They definitely bring out the best in each other and balance out the other's faults. They make a lovely couple.
Taurus and Scorpio
They are both fiercely loyal and they are protective over those they love. They can both be possessive, so they understand where the other is coming from, even when it can get potentially toxic.
Taurus is all about retaining resources and people, whereas Scorpio is all about letting go. Taurus can teach Scorpio not to let go of something too early, and Scorpio can teach Taurus to let go when it's time.
Taurus is all about enjoying the best things in life, something Scorpio could definitely benefit from, whereas Scorpio can teach Taurus to talk more freely about taboo topics. They are just similar enough to understand where the other is coming from, and just different enough to bring about an enriching point of view for the other.
Gemini and Sagittarius
Both of these signs know how to have a good laugh. They approach the world as something that is not to be taken too seriously, and they make light of even the worst situation. They both also approach the world from a more rational side.
Gemini likes to know a little bit about many topics, whereas Sagittarius likes to know one or two topics in depth. Sagittarius can help Gemini learn the value of being thorough, whereas Gemini can help Sagittarius learn how to be more versatile.
They both mutually admire each other intellectually, and keep each other mentally stimulated. Both of these signs also have a taste for feeling free even in committed relationships.
They dislike keeping tabs on each other, and they prefer to trust each other at all times instead of needing to know what the other is doing all the time. They are just so compatible in many respects.
Cancer and Capricorn
Cancer and Capricorn are all about building a family and a home, though they come from opposite angles. Capricorn is mostly worried about the financial wellbeing of their family and their capacity to be self-sufficient as a unit.
In short, Capricorn is about the external wellbeing of the family unit. Cancer, on the other hand, is about the internal wellbeing of the unit. They are about nourishing the family and meeting their physical and emotional needs.
Both of the goals of these signs are complementary, but the end-goal is one and the same: to protect their family and ensure their survival. Capricorn can teach Cancer how to be more grounded and not get carried away by their emotions.
Cancer, on the other hand, can teach Capricorn how not to repress their feelings and give themselves space to feel them in a healthy way. Overall, an amazing couple in which both partners can grow and become the best versions of themselves.
Leo and Aquarius
Leo likes what's conventional and mainstream, whereas Aquarius likes what's unique and underrated. Leo is all about self-expression, whereas Aquarius wants to empower the voice of the collective.
Even though they might seem like polar opposites, they are just different enough to teach each other some valuable lessons, and just similar enough to have tons of fun together. They both love being the center of attention, even if Aquarius would never admit that.
They both know how to have fun like no other Zodiac pair. Aquarius has no problem letting Leo be the center of attention if they really need that, and Leo can teach Aquarius how to express what they feel, independently of what the collective feels. They make a charismatic couple no one can get their eyes off of.
Virgo and Pisces
These signs are all about being of service to others. The only difference is that Virgo is all about the practical needs of others, whereas Pisces is more about emotional support and nourishing.
But they are both devoted to their partners and anyone else who might need their help. Virgo can teach Pisces how not to be paralyzed by their emotions, and Pisces can help Virgo to communicate in a kinder, more empathetic way.
Virgo can help Pisces come back to Earth and think in more practical terms, and Pisces can help Virgo not neglect the more emotional and spiritual side of life. But this is the only match in which both of these giving signs will receive as much as they give.
Have you ever dated your perfect match? How did it go? Do you find yourself attracted to people of the Zodiac sign that's best suited to you, or do you find some other sign more attractive?
Do you think someone's sign can tell you whether you can build a long-lasting partnership with them? Do you think that the sign we suggested is truly the best match for your sign, or would you argue in favor of some other Zodiac sign?
Tell us in the comments!

"MISSING KINGS" (Novel)
EPILOGUE: IN THE SCHATTENREICH
* List of Chapters
Translation: Naru-kun Raws: Ridia
"Recently, my sister has often been working alone on the investigation of the "Slate" from a different angle."
When Kokujoji appeared in the lab, he asked Weismann, who was alone in front of the research materials, about Claudia.
"What is the other angle of investigation?"
"I don't know. I haven't heard it yet."
Kokujoji cast a stunned look from under his military cap.
"Brothers, research chief and deputy chief. Why don't you share the information correctly?"
"Well, these kinds of things happen to us a lot as brother and sister. We are both loyal to our own interests. When I want to investigate something, I investigate it only until I am satisfied, and when I get a certain number of results, I listen to the opinion of the another person."
They are brothers who have been working as researchers since their teens. They were used to that area. Kokujoji also seemed somewhat convinced and said, "Is that so?"
"She doesn't hesitate to involve me in researching her hobby. Things like testing the toxicity of a "new dish" my sister has researched and developed..."
"Ah..."
Kokujoji became somewhat distant.
Kokujoji, who inadvertently shared the ingredients sent from his hometown, sparked Claudia's sudden interest in fermented foods, which can be found in many Japanese dishes, and she began researching them. She would often invite Kokujoji to perform a demonstration experiment called a dinner where she would serve "new dishes".
It was Weismann's job to verify the safety of the "new cuisine", that is, the various fermented foods produced by Claudia's reasoning and experiments, using numerous reagents.
By the way, he only guaranteed safety, not taste.
"That kind of thing, when my sister rushes into her hobby, I follow her or help her, or rather, I am forced to act as an assistant or a slave."
A younger brother is no match for an older sister. Weismann spread his hands and shook his head, saying, "I'm here."
"But she will always be thinking of following you as you go."
Having said that as if it were natural, Weismann suddenly widened his eyes and then distorted his face to him.
"As expected of the Lieutenant. You are sharp."
When Weismann tends to get so caught up in something that his field of vision tends to be narrow, Claudia presents a different perspective, or she devises a way to get back when he gets stuck.
"The reason I can fully immerse myself in my research is that my sister is with me, which gives me a great sense of security."
Kokujoji had a half admiring, half exasperated expression on his face.
"Speaking of a complementary relationship, it sounds good, but you seem to be very spoiled. If Doctor Claudia is still investigating the "Slate" from a different angle, she may be worried about you who tend to dream. Don't give your sister too much trouble."
"Eh?"
Weismann pursed his lips.
"Oh, what are you talking about?"
In good time, Claudia stuck her face into the room. Kokujoji, who had always had good posture, stretched out his spine.
Weismann smiled and waved his hand.
"It's the Lieutenant's scolding. I tend to dream. The same thing happens to my sister who entrusts her dreams to the "Slate", right?"
"But surely Addy is too optimistic, right?"
"Your sister will soon become a Lieutenant."
Claudia turned to Kokujoji with an artificially serious look on her face.
"Thank you for your help, but please continue to take care of my dreamy little brother."
"Ah, yes. I'll do my best even if I'm weak."
"Heh~"
Claudia chuckled as Weismann puffed out his cheeks. Kokujoji slightly relaxed his cheeks.
"Lieutenant Kokujoji, can you take it easy today?"
"No. I have to go to Berlin again."
"Oh, I'm sorry. Then when you get back, let's have dinner together again."
Claudia smiled and Kokujoji bowed his head and replied, "With pleasure."
It was February 1945, two days before the Dresden bombing.
++++++++++
The airship designed and built by Weismann was not the "Himmelreich", but a second airship of the same type.
Complementing "Himmelreich", the airship named "Schattenreich" was requisitioned by the United States after the war, but recovered by Daikaku Kokujoji and secretly transported to Japan.
After that, Kokujoji continued to hold the "Schattenreich" for a long time so that he could take off at any time. As a preparation in case of a problem with the "Himmelreich", in which Weismann was traveling. After the danger of the "Green King" became apparent, he took special care to hide its existence and never stopped maintaining it so that it could one day be used by Weismann.
Weismann/Isana Yashiro was in the "Schattenreich". In the "Schattenreich" communication room, he received a report from a "Rabbit" in Japan.
With a sigh mixed with frustration, relief, and regret, he raised his head. Outside the window, he was nearing the end of the night and had turned white.
Shiro left the communication room and walked down the corridor towards the bridge where Kokujoji was.
After being pierced by Suoh Mikoto along with the soul of the "Colorless King" that was trapped in his body on Gakuenjima, Shiro awoke inside the "Schattenreich".
Burnt in the flames of Suoh's destruction, the shrine collapsed and sank into the sea, leaving no trace of its existence, let alone its original form.
However, even though it was burned to pieces, Shiro was still thinking.
An existence that remained even after becoming only the soul of the dead body. If it had been Weismann, who had been afflicted by the despair of the past, surely the remaining soul would have turned into a murky sea, and would have eventually scattered and disappeared.
But Shiro had decided not to be a bystander anymore.
―Older sister.
The end of the dream he saw with his sister remained.
―Lieutenant.
There was a responsibility that he let his friend carry on his shoulders.
―Neko.
There was a girl who innocently adored him and needed him.
―Kuro.
He was the Immortal "King", he promised to return without saying anything.
Thinking about the people important to him and thinking about what he had to do, Shiro's soul struggled for the first time to live.
In response to Shiro's will, the unchanging power of the "Silver King", which once overlapped with the destruction of the "Red King", worked, and the body of the shrine reconfigured itself while floating in the sea.
However, Shiro's body, which was floating in the open sea in a state of suspended animation, just as he was, would have turned into algae in the sea.
It was Kokujoji who was convinced of Shiro's survival, he found him in the vast sea by detecting a slight deviation from Weismann and took him to the "Schattenreich".
(You're still spoiled.)
After a long sleep, Kokujoji called for Shiro, who woke up in the "Schattenreich's" bed.
(It's been a long time. We haven't seen each other like this in seventy years.)
Shiro looked at the deeply wrinkled face of Daikaku Kokujoji, who was in his late nineties, with a strange sense of calm.
(Lieutenant, you're still the same.)
Those words naturally came out of Shiro's mouth.
It shouldn't have changed. Kokujoji, who was a fearless youth, had turned into an old man with white hair and beard. But Shiro certainly felt that way.
(No matter how old you are, you are stubborn and direct... Your sweet eyes haven't changed at all.)
His eye sockets had sunk in over time. But those eyes had the same light as those eyes that once scolded Weismann, looked in the same direction as Weismann, and never left him.
Shiro opened the door that led to the "Schattenreich" bridge, while he reflected on the memory of the day he met an old friend.
A wide bridge, similar to a corridor. The walls were carved by Dresden artisans and adorned with statues of goddesses.
A bed was placed in the center of the bridge. Multiple hologram screens hovered in the air above the head of the bed, and the vital signs of the owner of the bed were always displayed.
The owner of the bed was Daikaku Kokujoji himself.
After rescuing Shiro in that airship, he had become even weaker than when he met the awakened Shiro after 70 years.
The body, which was healthy even in old age, was becoming thinner, and the functions of the organs gradually declined. It was already difficult to speak.
The "Golden King", who had long reigned as the biggest and strongest "King", he was about to exhaust his life.
The reason why Kokujoji was in "Schattenreich" is not to rekindle his old friendship with Shiro. Feeling that his life was coming to an end, he chose that airship as his final destination.
Kokujoji Daikaku is a very large presence in this country and in the balance of power between the "Kings". As long as there are discomfort factors, it was decided that in the end he could not be found helpless on the ground.
Shiro looked at Kokujoji's face. He seemed to be sleeping peacefully now. He got out of bed quietly and stood in front of the window. The sky was whiter than before, and the clouds were tinged with dim light.
"What's up, Weismann?"
Kokujoji's voice echoed directly in his head.
Shiro was not surprised. Kokujoji, whose throat and lungs were already weak, used his supernatural powers to speak as usual in those days.
Shiro turned to Kokujoji and began to walk slowly.
"I think the dawn is near. This is a special seat."
Dawn a little earlier in the airship than on land.
"Isn't this a familiar sight to you?"
"Not really. No matter how many times I watched the sunset and sunrise, my world remained frozen."
He escaped and stopped time alone in the airship. Not only his body, which is changeless because he is changeless, but also his mind had become stagnant and days passed when nothing changed whether he slept or was awake.
Shiro narrowed his eyes and stared at the sky, which was gradually becoming clearer.
"But now I can feel the light start to move again."
"Sunrise... the beginning of a new world, huh?"
Shiro lowered his eyes and gave a slight self-mocking smile.
"I'm relieved that my friends also managed to meet the same sunrise."
The attack on Mihashira Tower. The Green Clan, who seemed to be searching for the whereabouts of the "Silver King", caused an incident involving "Homura", Kuro and Neko. According to the previous report from "Rabbit", the Green Clan withdrew, but "Tokijikuin" suffered a lot of damage and it seems that they took away the confidential information that was handled in Mihashira Tower.
While such an incident was taking place, Shiro could only be in the sky away from Japan.
"If I can't go save them because I'm hiding, I'm disqualified as "King"."
"After I picked you up with a reconfigured body, it was my instruction not to return to Japan. Don't worry about it."
Shiro walked over to the bed Kokujoji was lying on and sat on the edge.
"You've kept me away from the "Green King", right? Don't worry about me, Lieutenant. It seems he found out about this airship through the Mihashira Tower, and the time for recreation is over."
The sky was getting brighter. Fate turned around.
"Everyone is on the move again."
Shiro looked at his hand.
It wasn't his real hand; it was the hand of a teenager. From the moment he became that hand, Shiro's time, which had stopped, began to move again.
"Ever since I saw your dead body, I had a feeling that this would happen. I understood because I am the "Golden King" who controls fate. The things that exist now will change... no."
"Will finish?"
When he said that predicting Kokujoji's thoughts, he felt a hint of a wry smile from Kokujoji.
"I think you will be forced to take care of the rest."
"Is different!"
He unintentionally raised his voice and looked at the lying Kokujoji again.
"Lieutenant, you shaped the dream that my sister and I had. Using that "Slate", I couldn't have done anything scandalous, trivial, good or bad... You made my dream come true."
"That is also different."
A withered, hoarse voice shook the air. Shiro widened his eyes.
Although it should have been difficult for him to speak, Kokujoji spoke softly, but his throat trembled as he explained his thoughts.
"It's the dream of the three of us. That's why I made it come true."
He had an impossible dream.
In the midst of a cruel war, his goal was to create a world where everyone could be happy by researching the "Slate", which had enormous potential.
He was often scolded by Kokujoji for being too optimistic.
Claudia must have been worried about her younger brother, who tended to have narrow vision due to his obsession.
Still, the scenery that the three of them dreamed of was surely the same.
A world where bright light would shine beyond the dark ages.
"Weismann... What a beautiful new world."
The sun was beginning to peek beyond the sea of clouds. Pure white light shone from the golden sun.
Kokujoji watched the dazzling spectacle.
"Yes."
Shiro nodded silently.
"I once dreamed of a view like this."
Kokujoji's sweet eyes, which have never changed, shone in the sunlight.
"Yes."
Suppressing his trembling voice, Shiro gently nodded once more.
"It's a shame to close your eyes..."
Kokujoji's eyelids trembled.
With a slight smile, the spectacle of dawn burned into his eyes until the end. Slowly, his eyelids lowered.
"Yes."
There was silence.
Then the electrocardiogram went parallel and there was a sound that indicated cardiac arrest.
The screens monitoring Kokujoji's vital signs closed automatically.
Kokujoji Daikaku lived most of his life as a "King".
He rebuilt the devastated country, made it prosperous, was always at the center of the seven kings that appeared and disappeared, and continued to manage only that "Slate".
For a while, Shiro sat next to his friend, who had survived as a "King" until the last drop of his life.
Before long, Shiro slowly stood up and walked out onto the balcony overlooking the outside of the bridge.
A strong wind was blowing, making Shiro's hair and clothes flutter.
The morning sun was revealing itself, making the clouds shine beautifully.
Standing at the edge of the balcony, Shiro gazed up at the dawn sky, illuminating the world in a new light.
"Lieutenant. As you have walked, I will walk forward."
He opened his arms to face the world he had been ignoring for so long.
"I won't run this time. I'll face him."
Beyond the dream that his friend fulfilled.

love notes, flowers
love notes: my ex who didn't treat me as well as she could was my last valentine. i blocked her on every platform including here and deactivated my twitter and facebook so i have no idea where she is now. i hope she's okay but i'm not gonna invest in making sure she is.
for flowers im putting a readmore bc like. long answer. tldr: time is the most romantic gift.
flowers: i'm a decent gift giver so in my experience the most romantic(?) gift you can give someone is something they mention as being important to their identity or beliefs or interests or loves, something that they hold dear. something that indicates you see this person in some way or that you've heard them. you've listened. like when i first started to court my ex i got her a rose quartz stone on a gold chain bc she mentioned it as something with feminine associations and she was just beginning to explore that and explore her gender. simple but exactly what she wanted. it was the first piece of jewelry i got her. she wore it every day for 4 months until it broke and she kept it even after that. i made us lunch every day that we worked together. i painted with her in studio. i gave her my feminine clothes.
platonically, i made an abstract and super textured painting for my cali friend of the pacific ocean and am crocheting a blanket to match the painting so they can be warm when they do their work because they get cold easily. both are in their favorite colors. both are textured in such as way that's brain pleasing for them specifically. i asked them questions over the course of a few weeks to determine what would be best.
like it just depends. you either super pay attention or you ask directly. make it a labor of love or pinpointed desire.
for my QPP i got him a perfume of yuzu and bergamot (he loves smelling like fruit or sugars or like vanilla. basically sweet things) to match an oolong perfume i got for myself so we could smell complementary to each other, so we wouldn't clash. sometimes we just spray perfume on ourselves and hang out in silence and just give into the sensory pleasure of good aromas, breathing it in meditatively. when he has joint or muscle pain i rub the affected area with arnica pomade. i tell him how to nurse joint and muscle injuries. i help him do so. i took care of him after surgery. i ask him when he wants me to make my famous vegan mac n cheese and i make a whole pot for him to eat half of. those are gifts too.
when my friends come over i make them a meal catered to their tastes. when i love people, i make things. i get things. i make art. i write them poems. i base characters on them in my writing. i honor them. i think a good gift is time. time you put into things, time with another person, time invested in acquiring something. i don't know about gifts being specifically/inherently romantic so much as indicative of devotion. sorry this was long lol!

hi krys!!! nobu hideyoshi and mitsun from ikesen? vincent and arthur from ikevamp too? 👀
Character Opinion Bingo!
So, I may have misread Mitsun as 'Mitsus' and thought you meant both of them, so I did both, bc I'm overachieving like that. Whoops.
Also, am not careful at all when it comes to route spoilers, so spoiler warnings for all of the above-mentioned characters.
Nobu:
Tumblr media
So Cool Looking: idk, something about that black and white color scheme with the pop of red just does it for me.
Afraid of him: Warlord that takes and does what he wants. There is a reason he's feared. His photographic memory is also terrifying.
In a handbag: I wanna carry all of them in a handbag, this should have been a free space for me.
Wow! He's a Horrible Person!: Is a warlord so it comes with the territory, but I also hate that in his ms (it happens in his act 2 too) he does not explain his reasonings to MC at first for why he has to kill a guy that was trying to kill her in the hot springs chapter (that he took her on, forcibly so). Not even a 'hey, that guy was trying to kill you, I had to act fast before he could do just that.' And let's not forget the 'Drink from your lips' scene when we first meet him. And the Strip Go.
Better as a Dynamic: Not that he can't function on his own, but he's a lot more fun when he's playing off of others, esp when it involves konpeito escapades, like in Hideyoshi's route, or in one of his bday events where he was in a three-way horse-mounted battle with Shingen and Kenshin over trying to reach a village with the last supply of the sugary treat. Or really any event where all the warlords are gathered together to do stupid shit. That's always fun.
-----
Hideyoshi
Tumblr media
Marry them: He's really nice and helpful, I'd be cool with entering a romantic partnership with him.
Blorbo: If cybird won't love him, I will <3
Deeper than they seem: Momsona on the surface, deep underlying insecurities about hurting others when (not if, definitely when, in his mind) he has inevitably to leave them behind because of his loyalties to Nobunaga and his cause. Plus a past he isn't proud of despite it helping to mold him into the person he is today.
Projecting my own issues: Yeah, that.
Got done dirty: Pls stop writing him off as 'Team Mom', both y'all. Not cute.
why they look like that: Sensei has too many details on him that are a bitch to figure out when drawing. Also, yes, he has complementary colors, but he's got Christmas colors in his casual clothes, sheesh.
Better as a dynamic: Team Mom has to have kids to parent after all. He's usually a part of gossip groups with MC, Masa, Ieyasu, and Mitsun, calling out Mitsuhide on his shit, Nobu worship but still parents him too.
Done nothing wrong in his life: Hideyoshi is a good boy and I stand by that statement.
--------
Mitsun:
Tumblr media
Like a blorbo: He pretty much is a blorbo.
Projecting my own issues: Also, that.
Don't have much to say: He's a sweet boy that's got some insecurity issues. Not much deeper than that.
Literally me: Yeah, getting lost in certain tasks to the point of oblivion is also me.
Never done anything wrong: Precious boy that can do no wrong <3
----------
(surprise Mitsuhide)
Tumblr media
Wasted potential: His route could have been a shit ton darker and his MC could have been better if she had been written more as his equal.
Afraid of him: Too much anxiety about teasings and pranks.
Blorbo: I will mold him how I want to, because I say so.
Projecting: A few, yes.
Got done dirty: A stronger MC probably would have helped, someone that could stand more toe to toe with him, more on equal footing. Much as I love him finding her after Yoshiaki is mean to her scene, all the guy did was say some mean words to her, really. Could have roughed her up a bit more, imo. (ikeromantic does the scene better in their ongoing Mitsuhide fic, imo). The scene with Hideyoshi after MC sees Mitsu doing dirty deeds still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Really, all this could be solved if he was allowed to kiss Hideyoshi He's full of good ideas but just needs some help on the execution.
Horrible person: See above-mentioned scene with Hideyoshi and MC. And how often he does the self-sacrifice thing when he's told not to do that. And stop being a jealous ho with Yoshimoto, you know MC only has eyes for you, dumb butt.
Better as a dynamic: Really, all this could be solved if he just kissed Hideyoshi already. Or Masa, I'm sure he'd be down for it.
-----
Vincent:
Tumblr media
Wasted potential: Please let him experience negative emotions. Friend threatening your girlfriend usually means friendship over, I'm sorry bro. Plus there could have been more interaction in Will's route too because you're supposed to be close friends, right?
Marry them: Sweet darling dear, I'm cool with a romantic relationship with you.
Done dirty: See Wasted Potential.
Literally me: That's up to personal interpretation.
Never done anything wrong: No, he definitely hasn't. <3
-----
Arthur:
Tumblr media
Blorbo: I will mold him how I see fit and have fun doing it.
Projecting: Somewhat.
Done dirty: Pls give more sweetie Arthur than horndog, pls I'm begging.
Horrible person: All good for character development but I still hate Chapters 1 and 4.
Better as a dynamic: Like Nobu, he can work well on his own, but it's also nice to see him interacting with others.

While matching sweatshirts can be cute, you can also opt for coordinated outfits with complementary colors or styles. This adds a touch of individuality while maintaining a cohesive look.
Accessorize Thoughtfully:
Accessories can elevate your mama and mini sweatshirt outfits. Consider adding matching or complementary accessories like beanies, scarves, or sneakers to complete the look.
Layer with Jackets or Coats:
Depending on the weather, layering with jackets or coats can add style and warmth to your outfits. Choose outerwear that complements the sweatshirts.
Pair with Complementary Bottoms:
Coordinate the bottom half of your outfit with the sweatshirts. For example, if you’re wearing matching gray sweatshirts, pair them with jeans or leggings in a matching color.
Mix Patterns and Solids:
Mixing patterns and solid colors can create an interesting contrast. If one sweatshirt has a bold pattern, pair it with solid-colored bottoms, and vice versa.
Consider Footwear:
Choose footwear that complements your mama and mini sweatshirts. Sneakers, boots, or matching shoes can tie the entire look together.
Ensure a Comfortable Fit:
Make sure both your sweatshirt and your child’s sweatshirt fit comfortably. Well-fitting clothes look neat and feel great.

The Ultimate Guide to Choosing the Perfect Flower Delivery Service
Flowers are a timeless and beautiful gift for any occasion. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or simply want to brighten someone's day, sending flowers is a gesture that is sure to bring joy. However, with so many flower delivery services available, it can be overwhelming to choose the perfect one. In this guide, we will walk you through the key factors to consider when selecting a flower delivery service for different occasions.
1. Reputation and Reviews:
Before selecting a flower delivery in London, it's essential to research their reputation and read reviews from previous customers. Look for services with a solid track record of delivering fresh, high-quality flowers on time. Online platforms, such as Trustpilot or Yelp, can provide valuable insights into the experiences of other customers. Pay attention to both positive and negative reviews to get a balanced understanding of the service's strengths and weaknesses.
2. Range of Flower Selection:
Every occasion has its own unique style and theme, so it's important to choose a flower delivery service that offers a wide range of floral flowers arrangements to suit different tastes and preferences. Whether you're looking for classic roses, exotic orchids, or vibrant mixed bouquets, ensure that the service has a diverse selection of flowers and arrangements to choose from. This will allow you to find the perfect flowers that convey the right message for any occasion.
Tumblr media
3. Customization Options:
Sometimes, you may want to add a personal touch to your flower arrangement. Look for a flower delivery service that offers customization options, such as adding a personalized message, selecting specific flowers or colors, or including additional items like chocolates or stuffed animals. The ability to personalize your gift can make it even more meaningful and memorable for the recipient.
4. Delivery Options:
Consider the delivery options provided by the flower delivery service. Are they able to deliver on the specific date and time you desire? Do they offer same-day or next-day delivery? Ensure that the service can accommodate your delivery requirements, especially for time-sensitive occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. Additionally, check if they provide tracking information so that you can monitor the progress of your delivery.
5. Pricing and Value:
Compare the pricing of different flowers in London delivery services to ensure you're getting the best value for your money. Keep in mind that the cost of flowers may vary depending on the type, size, and arrangement. Look for services that offer competitive prices without compromising on the quality of the flowers. Some services may also offer discounts or promotional deals, so it's worth checking for any ongoing offers before making your decision.
6. Delivery Areas:
Check if the flower delivery service operates in the desired delivery location. While many services offer nationwide or even international delivery, some may have specific coverage areas. Make sure they can deliver to your intended recipient's location to avoid any disappointments or delays.
7. Customer Service:
Good customer service is crucial when choosing a flower delivery service. Look for services that are responsive, friendly, and willing to assist you with any queries or concerns. A reliable customer service team can provide guidance, help you track your order, and resolve any issues that may arise during the delivery process.
8. Additional Services:
Consider whether the flower delivery service offers any additional services that can enhance your gift-giving experience. Some services may provide complementary vases, flower care instructions, or even a guarantee of freshness and satisfaction. These extra features can make a significant difference in the overall quality and presentation of your gift.
In conclusion, choosing the perfect flower delivery service involves considering factors such as reputation, range of flower selection, customization options, delivery options, pricing and value, delivery areas, customer service, and additional services such as wedding bouquets London, best office flowers, fresh wedding flowers online. By carefully evaluating these aspects, you can find a reliable and trustworthy flower delivery service that will help you make any occasion special with beautiful and fresh flowers. So, take your time, do your research, and make an informed decision to ensure that your flower delivery experience is a delightful one.

Select the right wine for your dinner
Selecting a wine to go with the meal can be a little difficult because while no dinner has ever been ruined with the “wrong” wine, a glass of good wine can enhance your meal to perfection.
There is no written rule on matching food and wine because it’s eventually a matter of individual personal taste. Still, the best food and wine pairings create a balance between the components of a dish and the characteristics of a wine. At Fraser’s Restaurant, we know which wine complements your food, so we’re here today with some essential tips on how to pair great wine with great food.
Tumblr media
Golden rules of food and wine pairing:
Your wine should enhance or complement the dish.
A reasonable starting point is comprehending the distinction between complementary or congruent pairings.
Complementary pairing simply means choosing a wine that parallels or balances some of the taste profiles in a pleasing proportion – consider a soft cheese with a good acidic Pinot G.
The second means selecting a wine that helps boost the flavors of both the food and the wine – in different words, emphasizing the spice in a curry with the delicious spice notes in a cool climate McLaren vale wine.
The acidity of the food and the wine matters.
High acid wines blend well with the basic acidity in food, with a crispy white paired with a salad combined with a zingy vinaigrette is a good example.
Did you know? Acid also balances fat, so beer-battered fish and chips are best served with a savoury white wine like Pinot Grigio, Riesling or a Classic White Blend. Commonly speaking, you want the wine to be additionally acidic than your meal. However, be mindful with anything creamy; nevertheless – a rich, creamy sauce will tend to clash with wines that show higher acidity.
FYI, your wine should be as sweet as your food.
When we talk about the sweeter side of things, it’s generally suggested to serve wine that is at least as sweet – or maybe sweeter – than the food being served. If you’re looking for wines to enjoy with dessert – a dessert that’s sweeter than your wine will make the drink taste dull and dilute its character.
Wines with some fizzes such as Moscato or sweeter-style Prosecco can also be excellent with fruit-based desserts, or even the traditional combination of melon and prosciutto enjoyed with a bit of an antipasto spread.
What wines are great in general?
Oddly enough, if you have no clue what’s on the menu, one of the best wines to bring is a glass of fantastic champagne or sparkling wine. You’d be surprised how many dishes pair well with it. Our most recent sparkling wine and food pairing surprise was sushi – the two go great together!
Sparkling wines are a fantastic way to put on a show of elegance. They also combine tremendously with an aperitif to get your dinner party rolling since they are a great party and conversation starter and will help your guests’ appetites go. Champagne should top your shopping list if you’re buying wines for a party, but if you think champagne is cliché, you could always go for Presseco for a change.
If you are not in the mood to have champagne, try bringing a wine that everyone can drink before dinner starts. You don’t have to stress getting a wine that will not pair well with a particular dish. You have a couple of options here:
White Wine
Are there any Chardonnay lovers here? If you are, then you most likely know how this wine tastes perfectly with white meat. If you’re cooking pork, chicken, and fish, try combining these dishes with a chilled bottle of Chenin Blanc. Also, Pinot Grigio is a light, dry wine that will go seamlessly with green steamed, sauteed, or roasted vegetables.
Tumblr media
Sweet white wine is excellent as an appetiser complement. Sweet options go well with savoury appetisers and sweet, fruity options alike. Don’t doublethink about trying Moscato with soft cheese and molluscs, too. If Moscato isn’t your thing — or wine for that matter — you could settle for Savinnieres, which works well with roasted asparagus, and is often the most common drink at Fraser’s Restaurant and treasury wine estates.
Red Wine
When you’re settling down for your main course, you can only choose a red. What’s more? Red wine pairs well with red meat. While it might seem that the whole colour-matching idea is outrageous, it’s actually true.
Tumblr media
Wine aficionados quickly recommend Cabernet Sauvignon as the best red wine for dinner get-togethers since it’s light-to-medium. Merlot, which is a medium red, tastes well with both red and white meat, more specifically chicken. If you want your guests to take small bites of something to conclude your dinner party, you can have a Pinot Noir bottle near a charcuterie board with tender meats and cheeses.
It is essential to know the difference between these wines when pairing them with food and buying wine for someone who prefers one. Pairing food with the wrong wine can often worsen both the food and the wine taste, making us understand “what you like is what you like.” If you don’t know your choice, give them a try and see what you like!
There is a great thing about wine; even the best wine experts will tell you they still have much to learn about wines every day. So, get out there and get your “wine-on” (responsibly, of course)!

SOME SMALL’S LIVE COUCH LEFTOVERS
ALAN BROADBENT with Don Falzone and Billy Mintz, MEZZROW’S, 13 MARCH 2023, 9 pm set (partial)
MIKI YAMANAKA with Pablo Menares and Jimmy McBride, SMALL’S, 13 MARCH 2023, 10:30 pm set
SCOTT ROBINSON with John DiMartino, MEZZROW’S, 26 MARCH 2023 MARCH 2023, 9 pm set
I’ve had these shows on the books but not finding a way to include them in an essay, so I’ll include this short notice amalgam.
Not that there weren’t essay ideas. I saw ALAN BROADBENT and MIKI YAMANAKA in a late set while in Santa Fe visiting family (and needing music to unwind). I never get to see Yamanaka’s plucky sets in real time, but 8:30 local time made it easy. So, I could either find another trio but I also could have played a George Coleman set from that same night once it hit the archive. Broadbent mentioned him as happening around the corner and maybe he played Coltrane’s Like Sonny and closed with Horace Silver’s Peace in light of that. Yamanaka started late as Coleman’s set ran long and it took a while for people to pay him court and then help him off the stage.
So both sets were short. I only came in the middle of Broadbent’s because, for a change, I couldn’t get settled for 7 pm local time (dinner, debriefing with home). All were in fine form and Billy Mintz’s showcase during What is This Thing Called Love was yet another masterclass in subtlety with minimalist exercise with the cymbals like bells and then the snare, just the snare. Don Falzone is their appropriate fill in bassist, but they’re better when Harvie S is there.
I called Yamanaka plucky by which I mean she is smart and smart alecky playing aggressively with a successive series of rhythm sections. In this case, I got to see Pablo Menares without Melissa Aldana with Jimmy McBride beyond the kit. She is a music nerd, but downplays it. Still she started with a James Williams tune and included a consciously off kilter On Green Dolphin Street, a Bobby Hutcherson tune, and Mingus’ Reincarnation of a Lovebird. She knows her stuff, digs in, and pushes the band.
The SCOTT ROBINSON/John DiMartino set also hung out waiting to be completed with another duo or drummerless ensemble OR a complementary tenor player. But nothing came in. So, I’ll just celebrate Robinson too as another student of the music, intrigued with his spare feathery tenor tone and how his trumpet playing illuminates his improvisatory instincts. They did a quite experimental piece that was nonetheless melodic and non-squawky. So it perhaps invokes the Lennie Tristano team’s Intuition and Digression which are sometimes called the first bits of free jazz. Bud Powell’s Hallucinations was brisk. They did a few standards, one with Carlos Abadie on trumpet and Robinson playing a sax shaped horn with trumpet valves and mouthpiece, maybe For All We Know, and Fats Waller’s Blue Turning Gray.
Robinson is probably an acquired taste and he’s not like Ari Hoenig or Alan Broadbent who show up regularly and I typically watch. But he comes through often enough to reframe what I think about things as with the Tristano-ish free piece. There wasn’t a Giveton Gelin/Sean Mason duo or John Ellis or another dry spare tenor player to write about in parallel.
But that doesn’t matter. The music was good and the essays are meant to serve the music, not the other way around. And even if I listen to seek out juxtapositions, that such listening serves as a writing prompt remains secondary to the listening.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on new furniture or decor. Let’s check out these steps for a makeover that’s easy on our pockets.
Plan a theme
Plan a theme. Yes! You heard it right, just as well plan theme party, planning a theme for room makeover is quite a trend. For all those who have mismatched accessories and decor in their room, it’s time to change. Making minor changes and additions, such as changing bedcovers and curtains, adding couches in a complementary pattern, installing slipcovers on furniture, or painting it, may help you synchronize the things in your room to a specific colour theme at a minimal cost.
Make way for lights.
Lights are very important as it eliminates negativity and brings positive vibes. If you have rooms with big windows, don’t cover them up with dark and heavy curtains go for light ones. It may be exciting to see your old place in a new light. Another fast and inexpensive approach to give a space a new vibe and colour is to change the lighting system and chandeliers. The costs could be further minimized if the task is transformed into a do-it-yourself project.
Go Green! Why not?
Adding plants to our rooms is always the best idea for both mentally because it brings peace and calmness and physically purifies the air. Plants in the living room always bring colour and brightness to the area for affordable pricing. Artificial alternatives can be considered if keeping natural plants is difficult.
Cosy is a new Comfort.
Cushions are a must to make a living room and bedroom cosy, adding on some inexpensive pillows and big cushions, though with some zingy and bright cushion coverings. You may even have your old sarees or bed linens with ragged ends sewn into bespoke pillows by a local tailor.
If you are going for a theme-based makeover, then cushions can be an easy pick as they are affordable, and there are various styles and designs for covers available in the market which will surely match the taste.
Install a Memory Wall
Memories do have a special place in our hearts. How about putting them in some corner of our rooms? Isn’t it a good idea? A dedicated corner for your beautiful memories where you can sit and cherish the best moment of your life with a coffee. All you have to do is to get hands-on some aesthetic pairs of frames that match your room decor (be it wooden or metal frames), place it with small potted plants and ensure to add some lighting to it.
A thoughtful mirror or piece of wall art may also give a unique touch to your particular spot, resulting in a more thoughtful and lively atmosphere. These curated corners will provide interest, a homely vibe and enhance the overall space’s functioning.
Add some warmth to your room.
Get rid of that dirty old floor, don’t go replacing the flooring or wall-to-wall carpeting. It’s going to cost you a lot. Use an eye-catching rug to add an all finishing touch to your floor. The goal of a rug is to warm your feet from the chilly floor while also enhancing the room’s tone. Choose from a wide range of rugs to change your space from drab to fantastic.
Mosaic may be an innovative and convenient way to bring new life and colour into your living space.
Refresh Wall Arts and Furniture
Plain walls are more like complimenting a clean, modern aesthetic. However, if you’re feeling adventurous, consider experimenting with unique wall decor to give flair and substance to a drab space, then just grab pair of authentic metal wall art. Metal wall décors are available in copper, steel, oxidized metal, and many more one can use according to his/her preference.
A single new couch, such as a comfy new lounge chair, a sleek new side table, a bookshelf, a brightly coloured sit and store side table, or a rocking chair, can quickly convert your space. You’re halfway there even if you invest in a single statement piece and place it thoughtfully against the rest of the room’s items.
End with little detailing
In the end, you don’t need to be a trained artist or interior designer to design your home in your style. All you need is a little imagination and a personal touch. With the following inexpensive improvements, you may give your space a facelift without breaking the bank. So, visit our website to locate the ideal décor for your space.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner
Pairing: Tom Holland x Reader
Synopsis: since your mom doesn’t like Tom, she invites your ex boyfriend to dinner and tries to set you up
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Does this tie make me look thick?” Tom asked as you set the table.
“We’ve been over this. “Thick” does not mean what you think it means.” You chuckled and went to fix his collar. “The tie looks fine. Stop worrying.”
“I don’t know.” He frowned at his reflection in the mirror. “I should change.”
“You’ve changed six times already.” You reminded him. “Your outfit looks great. You have nothing to worry about.”
“Yes I do.” He insisted. “It’s my first American thanksgiving with your family. I want to impress them.”
“You will.” You assured him. “It’ll be fine. The food tastes good, the decorations look great, and we’re wearing complementary colors. Everything will be fine.”
“You’re right.” He decided. “I just worry about your mom. She doesn’t like me very much.”
“Debbie doesn’t like anything very much.” You sighed. “Don’t worry about her. She’ll probably be too busy pointing out my flaws and short comings to notice you.”
“Okay.” Tom nodded. “Wait, that sounds like a bad thing.”
“It’ll be fine.” You said through a forced smile. Then, as an after thought added, “Just don’t mention the time we hooked up on the London Eye.”
“How would that even come up?” Tom furrowed his eyebrows.
“I don’t know. But if it does, don’t let it.”
“What about the engagement? Are we telling them tonight?” He asked as he rubbed your arms.
“Not yet. I’ll tell them on my own time. You know how my mom is.” You frowned as you slid your ring off your finger.
“Yes. A hater. Of me.” He said under his breath.
“She doesn’t hate you.”
“For the sake of our impending marriage, we shouldn’t lie to each other.” He said as he tapped your nose.
“I’m sorry.” You laughed apologetically and pulled him into a hug. “My dad likes you if that’s any consolation.”
“Does he?” He questioned. “He just pats my shoulder and then puts on a football game.”
“At least he remembers your name. He doesn’t know who half my friends are. But he always asks me how you are.”
“That does make me feel better.” Tom realized. The doorbell sounded in the house suddenly, making you both jump.
“They’re here.” You gasped. “Oh God. I need a drink.”
“Do you want me to get you some water…” He trailed off as he watched you down a shot of vodka without flinching.
“Okay.” You clapped your hands. “I’m good.”
Tom watched as you plastered on a fake smile, went to the front door, and opened it.
“Happy thanksgiving!” You greeted your parents. “Come in, come in.”
“Happy thanksgiving, honey.” Your mom said as she hugged you. “Op! Feels like you already ate a thanksgiving feast. Getting a little chubby there, huh honey?”
“Oh wow. Right away. Tom?” You looked at Tok for help and he was quick to the rescue.
“Debbie.” Tom smiled at your mom. “Thank you so much for coming. You look beautiful.”
“Yes. And you look very…comfortable.” Debbie said with an uneasy smile. “You should lose the tie. It makes your head look enormous.”
“Yes ma’am.” Tom mumbled as he yanked his tie off. You looked up at the ceiling and counted to ten to calm yourself down.
“Okay. Tie gone. Happy Thanksgiving, sir.” Tom said as he shook your fathers hand.
“Happy thanksgiving to you too, Tom.” Your dad said. “Do your people celebrate it?”
“Dad.” You said warningly.
“No.” Tom laughed. “But I’m happy to celebrate it with Y/n.”
“Excellent. TV in here?” Your dad patted Toms back before heading towards the living room.
“Debbie. Can I take your coat for you?” Tom offered.
“Have you washed those hands recently?”
“Um, no.” Tom said slowly.
“I didn’t think so.” Debbie scrunched her nose at Tom before turning her back to him completely.
“You’ll never guess who I ran into at the airport.” She beamed as she took your hands.
“I don’t know. Who?” You asked, hopes high for a civil conversation.
“Leo!” She gushed. “From high school.”
“Leo Montez?” You asked. “Oh, wow. I thought he moved to Canada.”
“He didn’t. He saw me and gave me a big hug, which is so sweet. Not a cold handshake like I’m some salesman.” Your mom chuckled as she side eyed Tom. “He and I talked the whole plane ride here. He’s such a gentleman. And he’s just as cute now as he was back then.”
“Who’s Leo?” Tom wondered.
“Nobody significant.” You shrugged.
“Don’t be silly. There is no one more significant than your first love.” Your mom said as she looked at Tom.
“Than your first who now?” Tom raised his eyebrows. Your mom looked proud of herself as you buried your face in your hands.
“You haven’t told Tom about your first boyfriend?”
“No, mother. I haven’t.” You said through clenched teeth.
“How come? You were so in love with Leo.” She continued. “I always thought he would be the one you ended up with.”
“Yes, I know. You never fail to remind me of that.” You smiled weakly and clenched your hands into fists.
“Sorry, going back to the “first love” statement.” Tom laughed awkwardly. “Who is Leo exactly?”
“He was my boyfriend in high school.” You said simply.
“Don’t sell him short.” Your mom playfully smacked your arm. “You obsessed with him. I remember you telling me he was the man you were going to marry. You had the wedding all planned out, right to the date. I have never seen you adore anyone the way you adored him. Even to this day.”
Tom felt jealously bubble in his tummy as your mom expressed how much you loved some other guy. You, on the other hand, blew out a shaky breath as you tried not to strangle your mom for bringing up your past relationship in front of Tom.
“Mom.” You warned as you glared at her. You knew what she was doing and it was driving you crazy.
“She used to stay up with him all night on the phone. I could never get a hold of her when they were together. She was always off one some romantic adventure with him.”
“If by “romantic adventure” you mean getting ice coffee and walking around Target, then yeah. He was a real charmer.” You said sarcastically.
“You two were so perfect together.” Debbie gushed. “I bet that magic is still there.”
“It’s been ten years, mom. I doubt he even remembers me.” You dismissed her.
“Of course he does.” She insisted. “He could not stop asking about you on the plane. And when I showed him your picture, he asked if you were single.”
“Which prompted you to show him my picture, I’m sure.” Tom laughed awkwardly, trying to remind your mother of his existence.
“It’s not polite to interrupt, Tom.” Debbie’s tone changed immediately as she shot daggers at Tom.
“Mom, why don’t you go get a glass of wine before dinner?” You suggested in an attempt to get rid of her.
“Sounds good.” She squeezed your arm and left the room. You shook your fists in frustration once she left before going over to Tom.
“Soooo.” He drew the word out. “Sounds like you have a lot of history with this Leo guy. I get the feeling your mom wishes you were with him and not me.”
“Tom, I’m so sorry.” You sighed and wrapped your arms around him. “I know I never mentioned him before but honestly forgot all about him until now. I had no idea she was going to bring him up.”
“It’s not your fault.” He said as he hugged you back. “But how do you forget your first love?”
“It was high school.” You shrugged. “It wasn’t real love. Not like what we have.”
“I guess I just feel weird that I haven’t heard of him today.” Tom answered honestly.
“Because once I met you, I forgot the names of the boys from my past.” You said as you cupped his face. “None of them mattered anymore. What I had with them is nothing compared to what I have with you.”
“Really?” He smiled hopefully.
“Really.” You promised. “I love you. I haven’t thought about Leo since I was 16. I’ve been too busy thinking about how I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“I can’t wait either.” He said. “But just so we’re on the same page, how many “boys from the past” are we talking about here?”
“Don’t worry about it.” You waved your hand. “It’s not like you’ll ever have to meet any of them.”
The doorbell rang again, making you and Tom look at each other in confusion since you weren’t expecting any other guests.
“I’ll get it!” Your mom called and came back into the room.
“Who’s that?” You wondered.
“Leo!” Your mom cheered as she opened the door.
“Leo?!” You and Tom gasped in unison.
“Oh, I didn’t tell you?” Your mom asked coyly. “I invited him for dinner.”
“No, you did not tell me that. Seems like a really important detail to leave out!” You raised your voice as you gripped Toms hand.
“Come on in. We’re so happy to have you.” Your mom gushed as she welcomed Leo inside. All Tom could see was a taller, stronger, more attractive man that you used to be in love with.
“Are we?” You squeaked. “Are we happy?”
“Wow. You look as lovely as ever. I can honestly still say that you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen.” Leo told you as he pulled you into a hug. You weakly hugged him back as you held eye contact with Tom over his shoulder. Your mom watched the two of you hug and let out a happy sigh.
“He used to say that all the time in-“
“In high school.” Tom cut your mom off. “Yeah. I got it.”
“It’s nice to see you too, Leo.” You lied as you quickly stepped out of the hug.
“I’ve actually been thinking about you a lot lately It felt like fate when I saw your mom at the airport.” Leo continued. “I mean, what are the chances I run into your mom at the airport?”
“Pretty high. Since this is a small town with one airport and it’s a holiday.” Tom spoke up.
“I’m sorry-“ Leo began.
“You will be.” Tom mumbled.
“Who is this?” Leo pointed to Tom. “I don’t believe we’ve met.”
“We haven’t.” Tom said as he held out his hand. “I’m Tom.”
“Leo.” Leo firmly shook his hand. “How do you know Y/n?”
“I know Y/n from being her boyfriend.” Tom said as he put an arm around you.
“Oh.” Leo raised his eyebrows. “I’m sorry-“
“You’re will be.” Tom mumbled.
“I didn’t realize you were seeing anyone.” Leo continued. “Your mom said you weren’t tied down.”
“Yeah. Seeing as I’m not a bouncy castle, I’m not tied down at all.” You said as you gave your mom a stern look. “I do, however, have a boyfriend.”
“Oh. How nice.” Leo nodded as he narrowed his eyes at Tom. Tom looked at you in fear and you wrapped your arm around his waist.
“Mom, you didn’t mention that I had a boyfriend before you invited Leo to my home without my permission?” You asked through a fake smile.
“It didn’t come up.” She shrugged.
“My long term, serious boyfriend didn't come up?” You raised an eyebrow. “The one I’m hosting dinner with? Whom I share a home with? He wasn’t mentioned?”
“No.” She said simply. “I guess I didn’t realize you two were serious.”
“We’ve been together for three years.” You reminded her.
“Must’ve slipped my mind.”
“Wow.” You said sarcastically. “That’s amazing coming from the woman who remembered every single detail about my high school boyfriend.”
“Be polite.” Your mom whispered. “We have guests.”
“I know we have guests.” You said sweetly. “I’m just a little annoyed that some guests were invited without my knowledge.”
“Do you think she’s talking about me?” Leo whispered to Tom.
“I wanted it to be a surprise.” Your mother shrugged. “I thought you’d be happy to see him.”
“Oh, I’m definitely surprised.” You replied through gritted teeth.
“Me too.” Tom added.
“Quiet, Tom.” Your mom hushed him as your father came back into the room.
“Dad, did you know about this?” You asked as you nodded towards Leo.
“Know about what?” He asked.
“That mom invited Leo.”
“Who?” Your dad furrowed his eyebrows.
“Hi again, sir.” Leo stepped forward and held out his hand.
“Have we met?” Your dad asked him, making Tom hold in a laugh.
“Yes.” Leo smiled tightly. “Several times.”
“Honey, you know Leo.” Your mom cut in. “He dated our daughter all throughout high school.”
“Hm. I don’t remember.” Your dad shook his head before shooting a wink at Tom.
“Well personally I’m feeling a lot better.” Tom smiled to himself.
“I think we all just need some alcohol in us. I bet that will get the party started. Y/n, let me get you some wine.” Leo offered.
“I’m good, thanks.” You smiled tightly and took a step closer to Tom.
“No, let him go. I need to speak with you for a minute.” Tom smiled at your family before pulling you into the next room.
“Why is he here?!” He whispered harshly once you were alone.
“You’re asking me?!” Your eyes widened. “I’m just as confused as you are.”
“Get rid of him!”
“How?” You whined. “It’s thanksgiving. I can’t just kick him out on the street.”
“You’re right.” Tom agreed. “You can’t.”
“Okay.” You nodded.
“But I can.” He declared and went to leave the room.
“Wait!” You pulled him back. “We need to go in there with a plan.”
“You’re right.” He nodded. “The plan is I kill him and you visit me in jail.”
“Thomas.” You warned.
“He’s your ex-boyfriend.” He whined. “And your mom likes him more than me. He needs to be eliminated!”
“I don’t want him here anymore than you do. But his dad died in high school and I know he doesn’t have a good relationship with his mother. He probably has nowhere else to go.”
“I’ll give him a place to go.” Tom mumbled.
“Don’t say a gr-“
“A grave!” He shouted.
“Calm down.” You cupped his face. “Let’s go in there and make it clear that we’re in a committed relationship. That’ll at least put an end to the flirting.”
“And if it doesn’t, I’ll put an end to his life.” Tom nodded along.
“Okay. Sure. That.” You waved your hand. “I just hope we can get my mom off my back too. She always does this. Not this exactly, but stuff like this. This happens every holiday. She pushes my buttons until I lose my cool at her and we end up screaming at each other, all while my dad is totally oblivious.”
“I know she makes you angry.” Tom sympathized. “But this could be our chance to show your mother how strong of a couple we are. Then, we’ll get her blessing for our marriage.”
“I don’t want her blessing. I don’t even want her to be there.”
“Her blessing is important to me. I just her to like me. This could be the night I finally get through to her.”
“It doesn’t matter if she likes you. I love you.” You reminded him. “That’s all that matters.”
“Aw.” He smiled softly before kissing you.
“Also, she hates you.” You said quickly once you pulled away.
“What?”
“I’m sorry.” You whined and buried your face in his neck. “I don’t want to yell on Thanksgiving. I just wanted a peaceful holiday.”
“I’ll make sure you have that.” He said as he rubbed your back.
“You will?”
“Yes. Just as soon as I smite Leo.” He said sweetly. “And if you feel the urge to yell at your mother, just squeeze my hand instead.”
“Fine.” You sighed. “I’ll make you a deal. If I can get through dinner without getting into a screaming match with my mom, you’re allowed to kill Leo by the end of the night.”
“Works for me.”
“As long as I get to kill my mother as well.” You added quickly before leaving the room.
“I feel like we should discuss that further.” He called after you as he followed you into the dining room.
“Hi.” You greeted your family with a fake smile. “Thank you all for coming. Tom and I are so excited to host this year.”
Tom pulled your chair out for you as took a seat at the end of the table. He sat beside you with Leo and your mother sitting across.
“Everything looks amazing, Y/n.” Your mother complimented.
“I love the napkin art.” Leo said as he held up his neatly folded napkin.
“Actually, Tom did that.” You said.
“What an interesting use of your time, Tom. Making origami out of napkins while my daughter cooks a feast. Alone.” Your mom said as she sipped her wine. You and Tom exchanged a look and you gave his hand the first angry squeeze of the night.
“I didn’t cook alone, mother.” You tried to stay calm. “Tom also made the mashed potatoes.”
“They’re a little gummy.” She said as he poked them with her fork.
“Mom.” You scolded as you gripped Tom hand under the table.
“It’s okay.” He assured you. “Thank you for the advice, Debbie. I’ll do better next year.”
“No one likes a kiss up, Tom.” She smiled tightly. “And who knows? Maybe next year, Y/n will be cooking with someone else.”
“Why would I be cooking with someone else when I already have a cooking partner?” You asked with a huge fake smile.
“Because you’re current cooking partner over cooked the asparagus.” She replied with the same smile.
“Well.” You dramatically dropped your fork. “How dare he? Call the police. Get this criminal out of here.”
“The turkey is delicious, honey.” Tom spoke up. “You did a great job.”
“Thank you.” You relaxed a little and sat back in your chair.
“Leo was telling me about his new job on the flight here. Why don’t you tell her, Leo?” Your mom suggested.
“Oh, it’s nothing really.” He shrugged. “I was just offered a position at the leading company for duel legged denim over garments in the United States. I run oversees sales.”
“Duel legged denim over garments?” Tom repeated.
“Yes.” Leo replied.
“So, jeans?” Tom asked, making you snort back a laugh.
“We don’t really use that term anymore. It’s pretentious.” Leo said as he narrowed his eyes at Tom.
“Totally.” Tom sarcastically agreed.
“What do you do for a living, Tom?” Leo asked, never dropping his death glare.
“You’ll laugh.” Your mom prefaced. “He plays dress up for a living.”
“Actually, he’s an actor.” You corrected her. “A really good one.”
“Have I seen you in anything?” Leo wondered.
“Maybe. I play Spiderman in the Marvel movies.”
“Hm.” Leo shrugged. “Never heard of that.”
“You haven’t heard of marvel?” You asked skeptically.
“No. I’m not really into those interpretive indie films. I like real cinematography that makes you use your brain. Have you guys heard of Quentin Tarantino?” Leo looked around the table, making you face palm.
“I wouldn’t exactly call Tom’s films indie.” You said under your breath.
“No one would. It’s Marvel.” Tom backed you up. “It’s literally a four billion dollar company. How much is your double trouble denim under - whatever they’re called company worth?”
“First of all, it’s duel legged denim over garments. It’s not that hard.” Leo snorted. “And we don’t believe in numbers. They’re pretentious.”
“That’s right. And Tom, it’s not polite to talk shop at the dinner table.” Your mom cut in. You rolled your eyes at the ceiling and gave Toms hand another frustrated squeeze.
“Would anyone like more mashed potatoes?” Tom tried to change the subject.
“Not me.” Your mom mumbled as she she side eyed Tom.
“I’ll take some.” Leo spoke up. Since you were closest to the bowl, you picked it up and put some on his plate.
“Thank you so much, darling. I hope we can get a minute alone at some point. I’d love to catch up.” He smiled at you, making sure your hands touched as you put the bowl down.
“I’ll give you something to catch.” Tom said sweetly.
“Yeah?” Leo challenged him. “And what’s that?”
“These hands.” Tom whispered harshly as he leaned across the table. You pushed him back in his seat a little and rubbed his back to calm him down, not wanting a fight to break out.
“So, how long have you and Tim been together?” Leo asked as he watched you soothe Tom with an unamused expression.
“It’s Tom.” You said flatly. “And we’ve been together for three years.”
“Wow.” Leo shrugged before taking a long sip of his wine.
“What?” Tom asked, not liking his tone.
“Nothing.” Leo replied. “I’m just surprised she lasted that long. Y/n and I broke up a hundred times in high school. She never liked to settle down.”
“Well you haven’t known me for ten years.” You reminded him. “I settle now.”
“We’ll see.” Leo said smugly.
“We’ll see?” You raised your eyebrows.
“Yeah. We will see.” Leo repeated.
“See what?” Tom asked.
“How long this lasts.” Leo said as he pointed to you and Tom. “Which, to be honest, I don’t think will be very long.”
“I was thinking the same thing.” Your mom added. “I think we all were.”
“How can you say that?” You asked them. “You don’t even know us.”
“But I know you.” Leo insisted. “And you never stay committed to things for long. You definitely didn’t stay committed to me.”
“Whats he talking about?” Tom asked you.
“I’ll tell him.” Leo said before you could speak. “Y/n and I planned to do long distance when we went off to college. But less than a week after graduation, she dumps me over text.”
“Y/n.” Your mom gasped. “Over text?”
“I was a kid.” You defended. “I didn’t have the guts to do it in person. Is that really so bad?”
“That’s not the worst part.” Leo continued. “I thought we could fix our relationship when we came back home for thanksgiving break, only to find out she was dating Cory Fisher.”
“So what?” You asked. “He lived on my block and was in my intro to economics class. We started dating months after you and I broke up.”
“Question, does he still live on your block?” Tom spoke up. “And will he be joining us tonight?”
“I don’t know. You’ll have to ask my mother since she loves to invite people from my past without warning.” You said as you glared at your mother.
“Forgive me for thinking you’d be happy to see the man who gave you the greatest relationship you ever had.” Your mom replied. Tom sadly looked down at his lap, but you weren’t finished yet.
“Funny you say that.” You faked a laugh. “I was very happy to see Tom this morning when I woke up.”
“I was talking about Leo.” She sighed. “You two were such a great couple. Don’t you remember all the good times?”
“I do.” Leo chimed in. “Remember when I won you that giant teddy bear at the carnival?”
“I’ve won Y/n a hundred teddy bears.” Tom stated.
“Yeah.” You backed him up. “And a goldfish.”
“Well I took Y/n to the prom.” Leo continued.
“I’ve taken her to multiple movie premiers.” Tom replied. “Even Boss Baby 2.”
“Family Business, bitch.” You added.
“I was her first kiss.” Leo retorted.
“And I was her most recent.” Tom said. “As I have been, for the past three years and will be for the rest of her life.”
“Rest of her life?” Leo scoffed. “Are you sure about that?”
“Oh, I’m positive.” Tom insisted.
“Turkey is great, honey.” Your dad added between bites.
“Leo used to take Y/n out on all kinds of dates. But he always had her home before curfew. Such a gentleman.” Your mom cooed as she rubbed Leo’s arm.
“I do love a gentleman.” You agreed. “You know, I haven’t opened a door for myself since the day I met Tom. He always does it for me.”
“Remember the long walks we used to take on the beach?” Leo changed the subject.
“I hate the beach.” You grumbled.
“And all the sunsets we watched together.” He continued.
“She hates sunsets.” Tom lied.
“Hideous things, really.” You agreed. “I find them absolutely disgusting.”
“You used to love them.”
“I used to love a lot of things that I don’t love anymore.” You quipped.
“Wow.” Leo nodded, unamused. “You’ve changed.”
“We’re supposed to.”
“Y/n.” Your mother scolded.
“Debbie.” You matched her tone.
“Be nice.” She said in a sing songy voice.
“I am. I haven’t said half the things I’ve thought of saying.” You replied in the same way as you gripped Toms hand.
“Squeezing my hand a little tight there, love.” He wheezed as you crushed his fingers.
“Sorry.” You quickly let go. “Can we have a family meeting in the kitchen?”
“But we aren’t finished eat-“
“Now.” You cut your mom off as you stood up.
“Excuse us.” Your mom squeezed Leo’s arm before following you out of the room.
“You won’t win.” Leo said once he and Tom were alone.
“Oh. My bad. I wasn’t aware there was a competition.” Tom played dumb. “It didn’t seem like there was.”
“Debbie invited me here because she knows that Y/n and I are meant to be.” Leo continued. “We always found our way back to each other in high school. We can do it again.”
“No you won’t.” Tom said. “She and I are in love. You and your jeans won’t change that.”
“Don’t call them that.” Leo whispered gravely.
“What? Jeans?” Tom asked. “Jeans, jeans, jeans!”
“Shut your mouth!” Leo slapped his hand on the table.
“Shut yours!” Tom yelled back.
“It’s only a matter of time before Y/n realizes she’s supposed to be with me.” Leo laughed maniacally. “By the end of the night, I’ll have her eating out of the palm of my hand.”
“Oh really? What’s the matter? Are forks too pretentious?”
“As a matter of fact, we only use bamboo utensils at our company. It’s better for the environment.”
“I have a feeling beating the shit out of you is gonna be real good for my environment.” Tom smiled sweetly.
“I took her virginity.” Leo whispered harshly.
“Well you can have it back. Because I’m sure that snoozefest is nothing compared to what we do. I’ve broken two hotel beds. And one dresser.” Tom whispered back.
“What are you boys talking about?” Your mom asked as you all came back into the room.
“I was just telling Tom a cheeky story about the time Y/n and I went to see a movie but didn’t watch the movie.” Leo snapped back into his sickly sweet attitude towards your mom.
“Oh. Leo.” Debbie laughed and patted his arm. “What a bad boy.”
“Y/n and I had sex on the London Eye.” Tom blurted.
“Tom!” You exclaimed before giving him a high five. “Nice one.”
“How dare you talk about my daughter that way at the dinner table?” Your mom gasped.
“He did it first!” Tom pointed to Leo.
“It was charming when he did it. Honey, say something to Tom.” Debbie said to your dad. “He’s being fresh.”
“Tom.” Your dad said sternly.
“Yes sir?” Tom gulped.
“Excellent asparagus.” Your dad smiled.
“Thank you, sir.” Tom smiled back.
“They’re delicious. I can’t get enough.” Your dad said as he reached for the asparagus.
“Let me give you a hand with that.” Leo grabbed the pan and handed it to your father. “The man of the house shouldn’t have to lift a finger.”
“I wasn’t gonna.” You said flatly.
“Oh. Such lovely manners, Leo.” Your mom gushed.
“Thanks, Debbie.” Leo grinned.
“Of course, Leo. You’ve always been like a son to me. And who knows? Maybe one day, you’ll be my son in law.” Your mom shrugged. Tom looked at you sadly, and that was the last straw.
“Are you kidding me?” You yelled as you abruptly stood up from your seat. “Are you actually kidding me?”
“What’s the problem?” She played dumb. “I’m just expressing my admiration for Leo.”
“Enough, mom.” You protested. “I am not going to let you disrespect my relationship anymore. I am with Tom. I am always going to be with Tom.”
“You don’t know that.” Your mom insisted. “Things could change.”
“I do know that. Because Tom asked me to marry him.” You blurted, making the room fall silent.
“You did what?” Your mom asked after a minute. “You asked without my permission?”
“Yeah, he did. It hurts when people don’t ask for your permission, doesn’t it?” You asked her. “But he didn’t need to ask for your blessing. We don’t want it. I can’t wait to marry him and I don’t care what you have to say about it. You’re not even invited.”
You stormed out of the room after your outburst, leaving everyone in stunned silence. You came back in after a minute and grabbed the pumpkin pie.
“I’m taking this.” You hissed before leaving the room again. Awkward silence filled the room in wake of your outburst and Tom felt desperate to fill it.
“Would anyone like some cornbread?” Tom weakly offered to the group. When he we met with nothing but unamused glares, he excuse himself and ran after you.
“Darling?” He asked when he found you sitting on the ground in the dark kitchen, eating the pie you had taken while crying.
“Hey.” You said with a teary eyed mouthful.
“How’s the pie?” He sighed as he sat down beside you.
“It’s really good.” You sniffled. “Did you bake it?”
“Honestly darling, I had my brother Sam cook all the things I “made” and drop them off this morning.” He admitted.
“Normally I would be mad that you, but this pie is really good.” You started to cry again as you took another bite.
“Are you okay?” He asked as he rubbed your back to comfort you.
“No.” You whined. “I totally lost my cool and yelled at my mom. I’m so embarrassed. I can’t imagine what you’re thinking right now.”
“I’m thinking that my fiancé is really brave. And that she could only be poked so many times before she fought back.”
“Really?” You said as he wiped your face.
“Of course.” He told you. “I’m also thinking about how proud I am that you stood up for us. We went in there planning to show your family what a strong couple we are, and that’s exactly what you did.”
“You’re not mad that I embarrassed you?”
“I’m not embarrassed. Why would I be embarrassed of having such a cool wife?” He asked with a smile.
“I love you.” You said as you pulled him into a grateful hug.
“I love you more.”
You hugged each other tightly, only pulling away when you heard someone clear their throat. You looked up just as your dad sat down beside you and Tom.
“Oh, hi dad.” You said as you wiped your face.
“I sent Leo home.” He told you. “He’ll be fine. Turns out, his company doesn’t pay him that much and he’s been living with his mom.”
“Bless his heart.” You blew out a breath.
“Your mother would like you to go back in there so she could apologize.” He continued.
“Why should I go back in there?” You sighed. “So she can diss my relationship some more?”
“Maybe.” He answered honestly. “But this time, you’ll have another player on your team.”
“What do you mean?” You wondered.
“I came out here to give Tom something.” Your dad said as he held out his closed fist.
“Is it a rock?” Tom asked hopefully. Your dad chuckled softly and opened his hand.
“It’s my blessing.” He explained as Tom shook his hand. “Not that you need it. But I wanted you both to know how happy I am that you found each other. I haven’t always paid the most attention. And I’ve never been very observant. But I did notice one thing.”
“What’s that?”
“This man right here loves my daughter.” Your dad said as he smiled at Tom. “And if you let me, I’d love to come to the wedding.”
“Someone has to walk me down the isle, right?” A happy tear slid down your cheek as you hugged your father.
“That’s right.” He smiled as he hugged you back. He opened his arms suddenly to include Tom in the hug as well.
“Thank you, sir.” Tom said into the hug. “Your approval means a lot to me.”
“You always had it.” He replied. “Unlike that clown your mother brought. He used to walk on our carpet with his shoes on.”
“What an animal.” You chuckled.
“Come on.” Your dad said. “Let’s go finish the meal.”
The three of you went back into the dining room, where your mother was sheepishly sitting by herself at the table.
“I would like to apologize.” Debbie said as she stood up.
“Go on.” You folded your arms.
“I should not have brought Leo here without your permission.” She continued. “I shouldn’t have brought him here at all.”
“Thank you for admitting that.”
“I know it was wrong of me to try to push you and Leo back together.” She admitted. “I just missed when you used to have to ask us for your boyfriend to come over. Now, you ask us to come over to have dinner with your boyfriend. Every thing just happened so fast. When did holidays become the only time I see my family? I don’t understand it. One minute, I was driving your first day of school and now you’re getting married.”
“Kids grow up, mom.” You said softly. “I’m not a little girl anymore.”
“I know.” She sighed. “I guess I thought setting you up with Leo would keep you in your hometown, closer to your father and I. Leo is familiar. I don’t really know Tom at all.”
“Because you never gave him a chance.”
“If I may.” Tom cut in. “I know you always tell me it’s not polite to interrupt but-“
“Go ahead.” Debbie smiled fondly at him.
“I went to school for carpentry but I’ve always preferred a more creative work environment.” Tom began. “I like to golf, especially when your daughter tags along and cheers for me. I’m not much of a reader but I read all of the books your daughter keeps beside her bed. Even the instruction pamphlet for her watch so I can fix it when it runs out of battery.”
“What are you doing?” You whispered.
“I’m pitching myself so your mum can get to know me.” He explained. “Let’s see. I like to go for runs when I need to clear my head. I hate cilantro. I can’t cook but my brother is one hell of a chef. I’ve got three brothers actually, and my youngest worships the ground your daughter walks in. Seriously, she has been the best baby sitter my family has ever seen. My dads a stand up comic, but not the kind that just talks about how much the hate their wife. My mum goes out for tea with Y/n every time she’s in London, whether I’m there or not. I never raise my voice or shout at your daughter. I wasn’t raised that way. I don’t like corner pieces of cake. I never pass up an opportunity to pet a dog. I love those American cookies that are pink and green and yellow. And the most important thing about me is that I will do every thing in my power to make sure your daughter lives the rest of her life feeling safe, comfortable, wanted, important, and loved.”
“Wow.” Debbie sighed. “I may have misjudged you, Tom.”
“You think?” You mumbled.
“Let her speak.” Your dad told you.
“I’m sorry I’ve been so cold to you. But when I see the way my daughter looks at you, I know she’d follow you anywhere. And that’s exactly what I’m afraid of. You whisking her away and us never seeing her again.”
“I’ll always bring her back.” Tom assured her. “You just have to create a home environment that she feels comfortable coming back to. You don’t have that right now. I honestly thought she was gonna kill you with the turkey baster tonight.”
“I was.” You admitted.
“He’s right.” Debbie realized. She walked over to you and took your hands in hers, giving them a soft squeeze.
“I’ll do better.” She told you. “I promise.”
You looked over at Tom and watched him nod before looking down at your enjoined hands.
“We were gonna go to the mall tonight to see if we can get some Black Friday deals for the wedding. Do you want to come, mom?”
“I would love to.” She beamed and pulled you into an apologetic hug.
Soon enough, dinner was resumed as you all sat around the table. Without Leo there, you were able to catch up with your family as they properly got to know Tom.
“I’m just glad Leo left.” Tom sighed at the end of the meal. “I’ll tell you what I’m not thankful for this holiday season. That guy.”
“Cheers to that.” You clinked your drink against Toms. “I forgot how annoying he was.”
“I didn’t.” Your dad sighed.
“I’ll miss him.” Your mom admitted. “But I’m delighted to have Tom join the family.”
“Me too.” You leaned in to kiss Tom’s cheek. “But I won’t miss Leo. He deserved getting dumped over text.”
“Totally.” Tom agreed.
“And I’m glad I cheated on him with Cory Fisher.”
“Yeah.” Tom agreed. “Wait, what?”
