it really is crazy how much a blog can change through the years. back in like early 2016 i followed someone for snk fanfiction, then they became a voltron blog, and then they just straight up converted to hellenic polytheism, and they've just been blogging abt history and classical greek literature ever since

#we used to be mutuals but i think they unfollowed me at the start of my b//nha era which honestly? i don't blame them #i've considered unfollowing them several times but i mean it's not like i'm opposed to history and classical greek literature n stuff #i think they also just straight-up made a new ao3 acct just completely severed themselves from their old one w/o saying anything #they have reinvented their online identity through the years (except for their url they've never changed that)#i remember we talked once; they told me they met their (then-current) boyfriend in a fencing class #idk if they're still with that boyfriend. i used to send them anon asks abt voltron bc i existed at the fringes of that fandom #i feel like i'm dropping absolutely ancient blog lore here lol #花話

Finally, Part 3! Here's Shiro, Allura, and Coran! This is a little bit shorter, so sorry. Thank you for helping me with some of these @gilyoungroach & @hotdogcabbagesausage !

ALLURA

- Pure Pansexual (Aliens don't have labels but she loves everyone so-) - Mostly She/Her Pronouns (Genderfluid) - Allura definitely had a rebellious teen era and it's why she doesn't like Keith because he reminds her of that era and she cringes every time she remembers it. - Allura collects shiny and sparkly rocks. This is canon but still. She has a very extensive rock collection spanning from "shiny but ordinary" to "so shiny" and even all the way to "super, extra sparkly" - I don't have much to say with her actually. Niko sums it up pretty fucking well: "allura goddess case closed" - @nikogane

CORAN (Aka. Single Pringle)

- Aliens = Pansexual. Duh. NJFKAFN (he's an adventurous fellow) - He/Him (Transgendered Coran!!) - #Alforan was one-sided. Yes. He loved Alfor with all his heart. Sadly, the feeling wasn't mutual, he never confessed but knew the truth deep down. Coran was content just being there beside Alfor as his advisor though it hurt him every time he saw his first and only love being sweet with Melenor. - Despite his jealousy, he never hated Melenor or Allura. He treats Melenor like a queen, obviously, but also like a sister. And of course, he loves Allura like his own daughter. - If he was an Earthling, he would've totally done drag. And he would've slayed. - He gives me so much... Lance but a different age, different upbringing sort of vibe. Those two definitely talk deep into the night about their issues and problems, Coran would've been Lance's version of Shiro.

SHIRO (Aka. The gayest man that ever did gay.)

- Gay. Just gay. This isn't even a headcanon, it's canon. - He/Him - probably brings a first aid kit wherever he goes when he's with Keith or the others. Let's be honest. - A red wine mom/dad. He definitely chugged one in a sitting and Keith was just amazed.. (and also did it too, leading to Keith's first hang-over and Shiro being an irresponsible brother) - Chronically addicted to coffee. Has like- brewery equipment, like the shit you'd see in coffee shops but only for like half of Shiro's whole kitchen. He's got packets of different flavors, sugars, milk, etc. - He was emo. He was emo before. It's canon. He was emo. That's where Keith gets his genes /j - Contrary to popular belief, Shiro can cook. Especially Korean and Japanese foods because he learned so Keith could still taste those familiar things his late father would've given him when he was little. - Probably is a hoarder, not that much though. Like, he keeps antique cups, teapots, dishes, and even a china cabinet solely for coffee cups that he never uses but only keeps on display so that he has a good story to tell everyone that visits... and it's always the same fucking story. - Will take any and all opportunities to tease Keith about literally anything. - Adding to the last headcanon/kinda canon thing, he also likes to remind Keith of his embarrassingly cute moments like when Keith first moved into Adam and Shiro's house and had a nightmare so they all curled up on the couch and watched shitty movies and Keith fell asleep literally seconds in and slept like a fucking baby. - Gay. The Remains of The Paranormal Hunter

After the murder case goes cold in a side city school gets reopened. Voltron Detroit Police is once again being contacted about it. Keith and Lance go in to find a lead to the professor, the only suspect body not found on the scene. Until Lance heard many cries for help that led him to the basement. Accidentally in his curiosity unleashing great evil ghosts while investigating. Now he has fixed his mistake and recaptured and rescue Keith from his deadly fate. Hopefully, get to the bottom of what occurred.

At Least Lance is the sharpshooter of the Academy.

Based on a forgotten game called Ghost Hunter on the Ps2. It's really good I love that game to bits even if the controls on the gun are wonky. I found it fun after making this AU years ago to finally make fanfic for it. Cause why not be fun to have some action horror with a side of romance amongst the horrors and the great evil ghosts running around? Yes there's Klance but a very mutual best friends kind of Love.

si, antes era basicamente un blog de voltron, posteaba y reblogeaba otras cosas pero sobre todo voltron.

sigo siendo parte del fandom? mmmm nop, me retire hace un buen.

todavia me gusta? dejó de llamarme la atencion en cierto momento y ya no disfrutaba del show como antes.

acerca de la experiencia, te puedo decir que disfrutaba mucho mas del show cuando lo veia yo sola y no tenia ninguna interaccion con el fandom. no fue todo malo, hice amigos y mutuals que todavia sigo (incluso sus sideblogs de vld aun que no me interesa la serie y no interactuo con el contenido excepto en ocaciones especificas) y creo q son personas maravillosas y muchos de ellos influenciaron mi punto de vista acerca del show y ciertos personajes. pero hubo un punto en el que el espacio de fandom comenzo a sentirse incomodo y estresante para mi, era un ambiente medio toxico y racista, si te salias del circulo de mutuals. blogs grandes que decian cosas que de verdad no estaban bien, y parecia que todo el mundo estaba en contra de las opiniones de todo el mundo, era un asco. entiendo que no te guste X cosa, pero siento q aqui se pasaban de la raya. hubo una situacion especifica de la que prefiero no hablar y ahi pues fue la gota que colmo el vaso. NO SE, solo se me hizo muy incomodo y estresante y no era la experiencia que esperaba y ya no disfrutaba el show asi q decidi dejarlo a un lado. los espacios de fandom se suponen que son para que disfrutes de X media y te diviertas no? yo ya ni lo disfrutaba ni me divertia.

Rift Soul Ryou - AU Proposal

Here’s an idea that I’ve been playing with for the last few weeks. And thanks @bbtree for being a kind ear and listening to my whacky idea that I’m trying (and failing) to turn into a fanfiction one-shot or cross-reality story.

We all know the absolute dumpster fire that was the Operation Kuron storyline. However, I would like to put a few preconditions onto this AU before we delve too deeply in.

Full disclosure: I have not watched season 8 but I am aware of its general plot beats. Also this is a mix of AU lore and drabble.

Condition #1 - the reason for the formation of the Galra empire 10 000 years ago was Zarkon’s response to a massive invasion from the inter-reality rift creatures that existed in the Quintessence field. The same creatures Honerva/Haggar was studying. It functionally serves as a dark shadow to the current era’s Voltron Coallition, had the Black Paladin’s virtues descended into vices.

Condition #2 - Haggar’s experiments on the gladiators, and Shiro in particular, over the eons was an attempt to find Quintessence resistant individuals to combat the impending Trans-Reality invasion of the Quintessence creatures. Shiro himself showing particular resistance to it - insert something about the same genetic strand that caused his disease also grants heightened resistance here.

Condition #3 - Both driven mad by exposure to that radiation, Zarkon signed off on the research and was attempting to create was effectively a massive meat-shield army to stall the Quintessence beasts until they could permanently scourge Quintessence from the galaxy. His end game goal of that project was to have Haggar create suitable, unfailingly loyal cloned pilots for the Voltron Lions, and using Voltron itself as the key to destroy the source of all Quintessence, effectively erasing the galaxy as well. Zarkon’s plan basically boiling down to a mutual annihilation.

Bare in mind - these people are mad, hence the doom’s day plans. Okay, backstory out of the way.

Where does Kuron come into this?

Well, Haggar tried and failed to clone Shiro multiple hundreds of time, trying to keep that genetic abnormality while eliminating the nasty ‘terminal illness’ side effect. But even when she succeeded, she had little more than blank living dolls.

No will, no drive, no spark of life to propel them forward.

And of course not. The soul that is Takashi Shirogane is safely nestled inside the consciousness of the Black Lion, and Blackie ain’t releasing her grip any time soon. So, however does Haggar solve this problem? Why - but the cruel irony of capturing an enemy and making it fight for the Galra empire.

She captured a rift creature, tortured it into insanity, implanted it inside a fully programmed Shiro clone body - et Viola. We have our first sentient clone in poor Kuron. And the first thing he does, believing he is Shiro, is YEET THE HELL outta dodge before Haggar and her druids can capitalize on this success or replicate it. This also goes to show part of the reason why Black refused to let Kuron pilot her until literal hell was at their door, because she could sense what Kuron’s soul really was and Black (Voltron in general) was specifically made to fight Quintessence beasts.

The seasons proceed much as they did before, but the hat trick is Season 6′s finale when Shiro’s consciousness is revived in Kuron’s body.

In this AU, I shall now call Rift Soul Ryou, Kuron’s body isn’t rejecting Shiro’s consciousness. In fact, Kuron - once again aware of his true nature - talks to Shiro and surrenders the body freely by way of apology and atonement before leaving.

As Shiro’s compassion boarders on the messianic, Shiro tries to convince Kuron to stay and help, understanding that he truly loved the family he found with the Paladins. They recognize and sympathize with each other as fellow victims of Haggar’s brutal manipulations and come to an understanding based on that commonality. And, shock horror, Shiro defends the clone whenever the other Paladins get too antsy at Kuron.

Touched, but undeterred, Kuron still opts to leave and allow Shiro to reunite with his friends and family.

Tears are shed, hugs and bear hugs are dolled out like candy and The Paladins are headed home. Meanwhile, in the depths of one of Haggar’s cloning facilities - a seemingly failed clone jerks to live, promptly wrecks the facility and escapes into the great beyond.

Sometime down the line, back on Earth and the steady rebuilding effort, Shiro is observing some work while the Paladins are recuperating with their families... and then a prosthetic hand claps on his metal shoulder.

“You know, I don’t mind the floaty arm - I just don’t understand the floaty arm. Digging the white hair though. Makes it easier to tell the difference between the two of us, I’d say.”

Shiro spun, only to be confronted identical face staring back at him with a crooked smirk. The same scar across the bridge of his nose, the same greyed eyes, but the hair dyed back to its natural black. “I don’t think we ever actually introduced ourselves properly.”

“I don’t think so, no.” Shiro laughed, unable to do much else. “I suppose I should ask your name. Something other than ‘Kuron’ I hope.”

The clone shrugs, “I’ve been going by Ryou. Thanks.”

“Ryou, it is then,” Shiro nods with approval and offers his hand out, “I suppose you and me have a lot to talk about.”

Ryou shakes it with a smile of his own ,“That we do.”

TL; DR - Haggar couldn’t replicate Shiro’s soul, so she kidnapped a Quintessence entity, brainwashed it into serving as a replacement soul. Kuron doesn’t die, because as an energy being, he can literally possess another empty shell and continue living his own life.

1. What’s your favorite character(s) to write for?

I’ve actually really enjoyed writing Lance POV, which is not something I expected would be true when I started writing voltron fic. He took like, a very long time to grow on me as a character (basically up til escape from beta traz, and even then they just DROPPED that entire line of character development and threw him back into the caricature of himself he’d been up to that point). But like, taking beta traz and developing that into like...actual clear motivations and depth of character makes him really fun to write -- he’s very much still somewhat of an asshole, but he’s learning, okay.

That being said, I don’t know that he’s my favorite character to write like, ever overall, but I can’t think of a better answer to this. I’m also enjoying writing Alexis Rose quite a bit, but I worry more about not getting her voice right. Lance feels very easy to write to me -- to an extent this is also true of Hunk, Coran, and Allura.

13. When did you start writing fanfic?

Depending on how you look at it, I started writing fic a long time ago or very recently. I wrote a big chunk of what I thought of as original fiction at the time when I was 9, which was definitely 100% Redwall portal-world fic, actually. I had no idea fanfic was a thing at the time, and didn’t really encounter any fic for another eight years or so? When I was 16-17 I ran into some on LJ, but I didn’t seek any out/read any deliberately or write any for several years after that.

I missed most of the ff.net era of fic, and didn’t really get involved in fandom and write any fic of my own until I was like 21-22. (I then...didn’t write any for like 6-7 years in there and came back to it only this year, so). I have produced more fic this year by like, several orders of magnitude than I ever have before.

15. What is the fanfic you’ve written that you’re most proud of?

Gosh it’s a little baby of a fic, but probably still Imaginary Horticulture 101, which was something I had no intention of writing...but I talked over a few tattoo headcanons for Cecil with a mutual and then just...sat down and wrote it in one go & posted it.

I also love Will Break For Food and With No Place to Go... it’s been a couple months, and they both still feel like they hold up well.
