Kaka compilation
Because everyone is sleeping on him. Witness his greatness!! First two Kaka colored icons were colored by me, lineart by Ryoko Kui though!
Kaka & Kiki are kinda like Laios & Falin… Kaka being stoic and giving repressed energy like early Laios, Kiki being cryptic and always smiling and kinda soft-looking. Autism siblings 2, ostracized and othered as kids and have a deep bond due to sticking together through it all, though unlike with Laios their parents are very loving so Kaka developed family as a big value more than Laios (bc asides for Falin Laios doesn’t care much about it).
In the gnome festival comic you can see Kaka is more emotive than he seems! Full with a :3 face, and he’s the one crying at the end. He’s insecure about his legs and being tall… It really got to him. Conceal don’t feel. In the gnome festival comic you also see him sensing others’ gaze on him and that something is off unlike Kiki, again Laios-like in the way that judgement from others gets to him more than her.

Could I ask for your thoughts on why you say that Cassius should have been Crassus' political heir ?
so largely I’m half referencing this collection of quotes and the various attempts to fill in the space/grave with a body (like Cicero! Cicero was a contender for this!) and I’m sort of taking shots at Antony for fun and whimsy.
like in sports!! I gotta root for my man Cassius over Antony, especially because no one can actually fill the space left by Crassus after his death (literally, the political landscape makes this impossible), but Cassius assumes a command position due to everyone else (notably, Crassus) dying (so: inheriting Crassus’ leadership position) and wouldn’t be a bad follow up to Crassus in the realm of military command since they have a similar (strict, as opposed to friendly in a way is commonly associated with Antony) relationship with the men under their command.
& also bc Marcus Crassus jr seems to be disinterested in taking up space in the political spotlight on his return from the Gallic Wars otherwise I’d be advocating for him on the basis of family tragedy compounded. it’s time to fill the space/memory/grave of your father and brother, buddy!

my mrd ocs Gossamer (rat) and Glass (heart), aka "Sad Rat Dead"
"Gossamer is dead… right? Glass, their heart that's falling apart, isn't so sure, because even though the despondent rat has given up and gone ghostly, their heart is still beating. While Gossamer has accepted their death, Glass doesn't want to give up the ghost just yet. They urge Gossamer out of their cage to find a way to regain corporeality, and together they learn what it takes to want to keep living."
"C'mon, Gossamer! Don't you at least have a final wish for your last day?" "I don't know... I don't think I do..." "Well then... let's live long enough to find one, okay?"

Baela and the Myth of the Child Fighting Pits
Not sure why I keep seeing from green-leaning accounts that in Fire and Blood, Baela visited the child fighting pits. But this is what F&B says about Baela post-Dance:
Tumblr media
Nothing about child fighting pits. In fact this is what shows up when I search ‘pits’ in Fire and Blood:
Tumblr media
The definition of a rat pit according to awoiaf:
Tumblr media
Not the best of places, I’m not going to defend it but there’s nothing about children there (also lower down it’s stated Mushroom said these are the places Aegon II would frequent, which the show turned into child fighting pits).
Also saw it said on here that Baela celebrated Jaehaerys’ murder… Her reaction was not recorded.
Tumblr media
Baela is many things and she is not perfect but what I’m seeing is just not accurate. And that’s not even getting into what I’ve seen on Reddit where they say she wasn’t faithful to Jace before his death and was kissing squires while he was in Winterfell. (Narrator: she wasn’t.)

can i ask about your experience as a quaker (or growing up as one? i just saw you mention bein one in some tags)
i jus don't know much about them
so i was not raised quaker, i was raised baptist. which was. 0/10, do not recommend. all the guilt of catholicism with none of the stained glass lmaooo
like, i did resinate with the idea of there being some sort of higher power and i liked the idea of getting together with other believers to discuss spiritual matters but as i got older and started thinking for myself i realized i really didn't like a lot of things about the church. i hated the bigoted beliefs of its members. i hated the emphasis on blind obedience to authority. i didn't believe that the whole literal truth could be found within one book, specifically one group's interpretation of said book. and the idea that people were born inherently bad and sinful and that a supposedly kind and just god would condemn people to eternal suffering just for not believing the "right" things just did not sit well with me at all
when i went off to college i decided to try out a few different churches around town. i ended up settling on a progressive presbyterian church. the community was great and very accepting of queer people. i had some minor qualms with the theology but it wasn't like with my parents' church where every sermon made me feel increasingly nauseous, and i generally felt *good* during and after the services
and then covid hit and while they did stream their sermons, i lost that sense of community and just kinda... fell away
throughout all this i was researching different faiths online, both christian and non-christian. and one faith that kept popping up a lot that i liked the sound of was quakerism. like at one point i remember taking some online quiz of like "what religion do your values most align with" and quakerism was very in the lead. (before this, i'd only really been exposed to quakerism in history textbooks and assumed the religion died out alongside puritanism)
in the end what got me really interested was actually a video by a youtuber i liked, a queer/disability advocate and historical fashion enjoyer who also happened to be quaker
youtube
and after looking more into it, i decided to try attending a quaker meeting. which was easier due to covid cuz i could find a church online (located physically hundreds of miles from me) that did their sunday services over zoom
and so i attended and the people there were great and were doing actual good in their communities. and the way services were run, and their beliefs about what god *was* and all of that just hit me with an intense feeling of like. holy shit this is what i've always wanted from religion.
the video explains the sort of core beliefs and practices of quakerism better than i can but the main belief is that like. every person is godly. as such, it's our job to treat all living people as equally and kindly as possible. additionally, since we all have god inside of us, we need to look inwards and come to our own conclusions about our own religious beliefs and practices (and generally respect other people's religious beliefs even if they differ from our own, so long as they're not causing real tangible harm)
i haven't attended any meetings in a while, due to that group going back to semi in person (they still stream it out but it feels more like being a spectator than a member) and there being no quaker meetinghouses in the tiny town i currently live in, coinciding with me being too depressed to regularly attend anything. but i'm planning to start attending quaker meetings again once i move to a real city

one of the things that makes the umineko cast work so well is that they're very tightly written in terms of how they parallel each other but also how they parallel yasu first and foremost and i've always felt like that's an approach sotsugou tried to replicate with the higurashi cast and satoko
#it's obviously not as competent as umineko and it'd be crazy to suggest this#but it's also unfair to pit them against each other in terms of quality when one is ~100h sound novel and the other is an anime#anyway the most obvious and interesting is satoko and rika being narrative foils#but besides that the takano focus in the last episode of gou is all about drawing parallels between her and satoko#it's satoko inheriting the takano role so this exists to emphasize how similar they truly are#there's oniakashi rena and wataakashi mion which are all about drawing parallels with satoko's character arc albeit in different ways#even teppei in tatariakashi isn't meant to be seen as a character as much as he's a symbol#there's so much nuance in terms of what teppei stands for in terms of being the fantasy of the father figure she wishes she could've had#but he's also a mirror of her 'worst' self#even hanyuu's focus in the beginning of kagurashi can be drawn back to satoko's motives#i think sotsugou makes the most sense when you parse it as being the satoko show before anything else#i think this is something the original does with rika too but it's also a little different#the original isn't as rika centric#even if she's the hidden protagonist and the true heart it's still an ensemble story#but sotsugou feels like it's a love letter for satoko in the same way umineko is one for beatrice#not that this means the other characters don't matter it's just that everything is kinda about them?#not sure if this makes sense but it does in my head and i can write so many words about all the parallels#gamo.txt

"I can't handle the fanon depictions of anyone", this is so true it hurts 😭
I‘ve never been so hyperfixated on a piece of media, without being able to read anything about it. The way every character get‘s flattened like a pancake and forced into a archetype is unreal.
I have like- 5 stories I can read and don‘t really engage with with the fandom in any way.
It‘s all just:
Monkey King is depressed and MK has to mother him and kiss all his boo boo‘s.
Macaque never did anything wrong in his life, it‘s all Wukong‘s fault. He is also secretly a mom.
What is Mei? Do you mean the month? Bitch can‘t even spell right.
Red Son‘s parents are still assholes, because parents changing for the better is impossible and children can‘t have decent parental figures I guess.
-Casually bastardizes everyone into an asshole so my fav has a reason to be sad-
"What is Mei? Do you mean the month? Bitch can‘t even spell right." IS THE FUNNIEST THING. HOLY SHIT. I'M CACKLING.
"I‘ve never been so hyperfixated on a piece of media, without being able to read anything about it" is also so relatable. I've never had my fandom experience be so self-generated before. I'm just kinda stewing over here, having fun, making my own gif sets and analysis posts. Maybe I reblog some fanart from time to time.

I genuinely do love the prison arc and find it fascinating and I wish it was easier to find content and analysis about it that didn't veer to any of the Very Not Fun extremes
#my observation is that only people who enjoy both c!tommy and c!dream are capable of writing prison arc c!q#if they only like c!dream then q gets turned into a heartless hollow monster who exists only to wring out angst#if they only like c!tommy then the torture is either barely acknowledged or gets turned into a haha funny girlboss move#both of you are boring. where are the LAYERS.#and c!sam. guy has such a compelling fall from a well-intentioned and tender-hearted dude to somebody who will kill and torture so easily#i think it's very possible to acknowledge that both of them parallel c!dream by design without. like. drawing direct equations?#parallel lines don't intersect after all.#and acknowledging that c!dream is the victim of something incredibly unjust doesn't mean absolving his past injustices#it's just... the more time goes by the more weary i am of the ''who's worse than who'' competitive brand of analysis#i'm so much more interested in how these characters got to where they are. how they justify themselves. and how they will go forward.#and how everybody around them reacts! vibrations in the web and all of that. how does it affect people and what message do they take?#still holding out hope for c!sapnap to hear about the torture from c!q#let's see how much weight those making-amends letters really hold#and for c!sam to have a talk with c!tubbo. maybe muster up an apology. process what he did so he can move forward.#and for us to see literally anything about how c!dream is coping with whatever the fuck all of that was#my guy. my dude. WHY would you do that. there is nothing in the world that is worth it#he's hurt too many others and been hurt too badly himself. he needs the ends to be worth it but nothing ever will be.#they're all three slightly different flavors of horrible and they're all just so fucking tragic#anyway i think i've ranted long enough in these notes#i just needed to get this out somewhere#dsmp

Moe strikes an interesting balance between functionally being a self-insert while also adhering to canon aspects of Kiran. I can't extrapolate on this as much as I'd like to bc I feel like I don't have the words for it rn LMFAO but this has some really interesting side effects!
I think most importantly though it has been a really cool exercise in exploring a variety of different traits -- some of my own, and some that are exclusively Moe's. Either extrapolated from Kiran, or came to me in a vision HAHA. Either way, I think this actually gives it the potential to Be a compelling character by itself, if I can capture it right.

I know that Sadness Prayer states that Koito talks to Oriko for the first time after Komaki's death but I'm firmly throwing that out for ASM. I think leaning into Oriko's human connections and the extent to which they clash with her desire for a purpose and her magically-assigned mission is sooo fun.
