New EPIC album, time to open the planning doc and go insane.

Personally I'd say the next chapter is all ready to go, just needs to be beta read. However, my cowriter is a bit busy at the moment so I will instead start on the next one. Hopefully there will be two chapters ready to go by the time they can read it over.

Ended up splitting the next chapter, so it’s draft is done! It feels a little like a break from the action, but it’s setting up… let’s just call it the climax of recent problems.

It’s time for Sayaka Miki to make a choice.

Is the chapter technically necessary to advance last chapter’s plot? No

Does it explain why a certain powerful person won’t be able to step in during upcoming events, set up multiple things for later down the line, and have some fun moments? Yes

Is it also an excuse for me to start actively writing in Kyoko as mixed? Abso-fucking-lutely.

The next chapter is basically a tangent full of dramatics and magic and stories before we get to where we need to go. Absolutely all of it can be avoided but unfortunately the quintet are stuck in a story where one of the protagonist speaks fluent fairy tales.

Also Kyoko meets a devil at a crossroad or whatever

One of the things I am absolutely delighted to write about is the truly disastrous relationship between (Bad Timeline) Sayaka and Kyosuke. I cannot stress how much of a mess they are.

We've got Kyosuke "my hand was magically healed, this is a sign that I should devote my life to the violin" Kamijou who has never had a romantic feeling in his life and is going on tour constantly.

We've got Sayaka "Hero of Justice" Miki (now Kamijou) who feels that it is up to her to be the perfect Magical Girl AND the perfect wife. Who has never once had feelings for anyone besides Kyosuke and will fight you to prove it.

Kyosuke worries that Sayaka isn't happy, because that IS his childhood friend. But Sayaka won't talk about it (and honestly he’s reluctant to bring it up too). Because, in part, Kyosuke's distance allows her to keep patrolling at the (unhealthy) rate that she is. And it was her wish that gave him this. It's HER fault, Sayaka thinks, and so she has to simply deal with it. Especially now that Hitomi is gone, it would feel like spitting in the face of her memory to NOT love Kyosuke.

Madoka is desperately shaking her and asking if she's maybe considered talking to Kyosuke about Anything Ever, PLEASE. Kyoko and Mami are making increasingly judgemental drinking games about them. Homura is also there.

#this is all contrasted by them being actual genuine friends in the good timeline #bad timeline saya/suke are such a compelling disaster #it's a thousand agonies to me that they are still so far away writing-wise #Madoka's weekly Sayaka-based stress headache #Kyoko's weekly 'fight with mx. internalized biphobia' #Haruka voice: i love my aunt i hope she gets divorced #all of this to say I listened to lent by autoheart and went insane again #authorial rambling

Quick little update!

It's very likely that I'm going to be posting the next three chapters close together. The first still needs to be beta'd, and is roughly the same length as any other. The second, however, is much shorter- a specific set of scenes that needed to be set apart. The same is true of the third, though that is going to have a lot of interesting stylistic decisions and I'm mostly waiting until my beta/cowriter is free from their finals so we can tackle that one together.
