that carmy and richie fight in the finale was devastatingly beautiful. first the setting of carmy being stuck in the inside and richie being outside helping to run the shit. then, carmy being in the darker light while richie is in the lighter one. and everything that was said in the fight proved to me more how much they are family because only family can know this much where it would hurt and only family would still keep loving you after all this. like the way richie hits carmy by calling him donna was so unexpected i gasped. and you can see richie immediately regrets it but the damage has been done and carmy just starts losing it. also the way richie was trying to be real with carmy saying somebody has to tell him this shit as the pseudo-big brother he is. and then carmy keeps on going and hits richie with his kid but richie doesn’t stay with it all that much, because it comes down to michael again. in the show, it’s like the emptiness michael left is so tangible it’s crazy BUT it’s especially tangible when it comes to richie and carmy. and so, richie goes back to michael and the funeral and the fact that carmy wasn’t there but carmy goes on and on attacking richie saying richie is obsessed with his family. what does richie do then, keeps shouting i fucking love you over and over again. and it was such an unexpected choice like that destroyed me. but that’s the bottom line. they are gonna rip each other off but richie loves carmy so much, and I believe he knows he stepped over the line with the donna comment, and that carmy doesn’t mean anything he says at that moment. because they also had their whole development throughout the season. because they are fucking family.

when you realise how many insane hilson lines were written by one or both of the lesbians on the house md writing team you go oh. so this was actually always properly intended as gay. like liz friedman’s first ever scene is “because you’re a closet case?” “we’re not… together” “he is so self loathing”. her first scene. she got onto the show and went ok the first thing i need to do is make sure everyone knows how fucking gay these guys are. they wrote the down low together. meaning that the proposal scene was written by gay people. wilson knowing the words to a gay musical was written by gay people. the ending of the episode being house and wilson sitting together in their shared apartment with the gay musical song singing “you know you’ll never be lonely with you know who” over the top was a decision made by gay people. there is zero chance that two lesbians on a writing team of over a dozen on a very successful show were doing this to bait a queer audience for money. they’re the ones who gave us the hilson parent dream sequence. the only hilson hug. they were doing everything they could to give us what we wanted. like. we’re so so sorry we’re not in a high enough position to make them fully gay but here have this and this and this and this and this and

Love how even when there's nothing ACTIVELY incestuous happening in Midsomer there's still often a ~vibe ~. Like Robert Glenister's character being so obsessed with his dead mum and how pretty she was that he invents a whole fake girlfriend who has his mother's name and looks just like her photographs, and only romantically pursues women who look a bit like his mum, and then tries to make them dress and act exactly like her. Very cool and normal Midsomer Murders, thanks.

the build up to the actual taking of the photograph in ghost quartet is sooo fucking good. i love the way GQ tells the story by circling around the event itself & giving us bits of information (& it does this with OG Rose & Pearl's story too; the way the musical ends with The Wind & Rain drives me up the fucking wall in a good way)

before anything we know rose's camera is broken. then we get the play-by-play in The Subway– girl is pushed onto the track, no one can stop, the photographer doesn't help. then in The Photograph we see the fallout & learn why her camera is broken: she smashed it because she's disgusted. she took a photograph instead of being a hero. immediate next song we learn what happens after the camera shop from Scheherazade: Rose gets a new camera and the camera shop owner gives her the number of the subway driver. then you get usher part 3 (one of my favorite songs), where we see the events of The Subway but with full details. right before Roxie kills Lady Usher, we hear the photograph before we see it ("I heard a flashbulb rip")

And God. the way the song shifts when Pearl falls onto the tracks. we get so much buildup around the photograph, and usher part 3 literally slows down time to walk us through it: Pearl is pushed onto the track. Rose is there. Rose takes the photograph instead of being a hero. Pearl smiles for the camera. "I let the train rip through me."

& then in Midnight, Gelsey tells us that Rose and the subway driver have kids– sisters.
