SWAP HATTER + JOKER 👍 this one is kind of difficult to explain because both the hatter and the joker are otherworldly beings that are not permanently tied to the physical bodies that they inhabit, so in the swap-universe the entity that is the hatter is using jay doe as a vessel (who is the joker’s “body” in the main canon). just like normal hatter, in the swap the joker is inhabiting a body made of inanimate materials like sticks and plastic. unlike hatter, swap joker is well aware that it is not a human being and is at relative piece with this. also bonus calendar queen and batman expressions!

character wise. CIOCCOLATA. Idk why he's so hard to draw but I've gotten him right like. Three times and the rest looks like dollar store joker.

19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)

DRAPERYYYY FOREVER N EVER AND EVERRR CLOTHES FABRIC ALL OF THAT. I never learn how to do it and i get lost in it for hours and its SO satisfying when you get it right- especially if you aim for a specific type of fabrics feel.

27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with

Sometimes and sometimes not, though i should do it more. I do have an issue with energy and some hand pain, so I tend to subconciously reserve my drawing stamina for the good stuff... but I should not bc whenever i do warmups everything looks so much better.

As for what: croquis (nowdays using sketchdaily- croquis cafe was my previous go to but if i recall righg they got paywalled? Which i understand & respect and when i have the money i will absolutely pay to get access 2 their videos), and random warmup doodling, just strongly referenved sketches of different subjects (i try to do thinhs other than people here) that pop up on my pinterest feed. I do a lot of drawing circles too...

30 AU-gust: Joker (Sculpture Artist)

Eddie has worked on that sculpture for months, defining every single detail of it.

It’s the best work he has ever done.

It’s so incredibly perfect.

The marble skin looks so soft that touching it and finding it cold is almost disappointing.

The veins on its arms and his hands are created with such expertise that if you stare for long enough you can almost see the blood pumping.

It’s perfect.

It’s fucking perfect.

Still. 

It’s not enough.

So close to the real thing but not enough.

Trapped in the pose that Eddie chose for him when he designed it.

It.

Him.

Because the beautiful statue that he is looking at it’s a boy. The most beautiful boy ever existed. He is graceful and perfect, his beauty destined to last for years, fascinating every single person who will be lucky enough to see him.

Steve.

Eddie has called the statue Steve.

And he had talked to him during the process that transformed a cube of Carrara’s marble into the incredible statue that he is staring at.

He might have confessed to him his biggest secrets.

He might have even fallen in love with him.

The only problem is that Steve is made of marble. 

His eyes are kind but empty. His feet have no sole and every part of his body that is covered by the drape doesn’t really exist.

Still, he is the most beautiful creature ever.

Eddie takes another bottle of wine, the second? Maybe the third. But he is an artist, he is allowed to drink while working, he is allowed to fall in love with inanimate objects, and he is allowed even to break the incredible things that he makes.

He is the creator, the only god in his fucking studio.

Steve is still there. Still in the same position. So close and so far at the same time.

Somewhere, the sun is setting and Eddie keeps drinking and screaming at the marble figure.

“What do you want, uh? Didn’t I give you everything I have? I worked on you for weeks, months! And I never complained! Not once! And you? You stay there looking at me without even seeing me! You are no different from the others! You are just like Clarke, or Robert! You wanted something from me and now that you got it you stopped caring about me!” He throws the glass against the statue and starts to drink directly from the bottle “Am I not worth it? Am I not enough for you? I gave you life! I confessed to you even my darkest secrets. And now what? You stay there, judging me for my choice in life? I knew that Clarke wanted the scholarship at the Academy. I knew it! I just thought that he would have loved me for a semester at least, before forgetting about me.” he sighs “ You know what? I don’t fucking care about Clarke. He is a mediocre artist who will never do anything in his life! But you? You are fucking perfection. I look at you and I feel tears in my eyes. I worshiped you like a god! Was that not enough? Was I not enough?”

Eddie throws the entire bottle against the statue and the red wine starts to drop from the white marble like the statue was bleeding.

He knees at the statue's feet.

“Why don’t you say anything? Why don’t you answer me?” he screams and then he goes back to his tools and takes a hammer.

“Why don’t you speak?!” he screams, ready to break that perfect face once and for all. 

No one will see Steve.

No one will know how close he got to perfection.

But his arm is stopped by a tight grip.

He looks at his wrist and a white marble hand is holding him firmly.

He turns and Steve is looking back at him. His beautiful eyes are no longer empty. They shine with curiosity and amusement.”

“Why do you want to break me?” he asks softly, and the hammer falls to the ground with a loud noise.

“What the fuck. That’s not possible!” Eddie murmurs, his eyes still on the boy that once was a statue.

Steve smiles at him and Eddie sees teeth that he hasn’t sculptured.

The boy gets up and his feet free themselves from the marble and he walks away from the pedestal where he was resting.

“So. What do you want to talk about?” Steve asks.

“Sorry?”

“You asked me, more than once, why I wasn’t speaking, so now I’m asking you what we should talk about. Not about Clarke. Please. He is such an ass. And you deserve so much better. Not about Robert either, he is kind but he doesn’t get you.”

“And you do?” Eddie replies sarcastically but the statue nods.

“I do. I know you, Eddie. You made me and you put all your feelings in every stroke of your chisel and I absorbed it all. I know what you feel. I know what you think. I know what you deserve and even what you think you don’t deserve.”

Eddie smirks “Somehow, the fact that you know everything about me is the less scary part of this night.” he replies, sitting on the ground “Am I dreaming?” he asks.

“Do you do that?”

“What?”

“Dreaming about me.”

He does, more than he likes to admit. 

He dreams about the perfect marble figure. 

About how it could be put his hands into his hair, tugging his hair a little and making him whimper. About the cock hidden under the drape. About the ass hidden against the marble.

The sweet spot that he would like to lick and kiss.

“I do.” he replies sternly.

“I do too.” the statue replies and Eddie tilts his head.

“What does it mean? You are a statue, you can’t dream!”

“I couldn’t talk either but we are talking right?”

“That a fucking dream. Or maybe I’m too drunk.”

Steve smiles “You are pretty drunk so I’ll try not to get offended knowing that you think that my conversation with you was impossible and that I’m wasting the few hours I have talking to someone who doesn’t even care about me.”

“Few hours? What?”

“I’m a statue Eddie, do you really believe that I could keep moving around and chatting all day long?”

“You… don’t?”

“No, I don’t. No one of us does.”

Eddie turns around and looks at his sculptures in the darkness.

“What?! You all…”

“No. Not all of them. You haven’t worked on everyone with the same passion or the same emotion.” Steve smiles at him “I like to think that I’m special.”

And he is special.

So fucking special.

Everything is special about him.

The kind of marble Eddie used, how he sculpted him, and now the fact that he is moving around like it was normal.

And Eddie falls for him, hard.

From that night on he starts to live by night and sleep by day.

He ceases to attend openings and events or get commissions.

All his free time is spent with the beautiful creature that he created and who, somehow, brought to life.

One night, when they are cuddling in Eddie’s big bed, he asks Steve if he wishes he was human.

Steve thinks for a long moment and then he replies “No.” he states seriously “If I were human I would be only one of the pretty boys you used to hang out with and complain about later.” He stares into Eddie’s eyes “Instead I know that you are never going to find another like me.”

No one ever saw the sculpture that the crazy artist bragged about for months.

And when the neighbors call 911 and the firefighters break into the apartment, they find the entire studio smashed and no artist.

The only thing that remained in that disruption was a pedestal with a carved name: STEVE.

I swear I never watched a single episode of Supernatural in my life and never intend to but somehow everywhere I look there is random destiel fan. Idk if I appreaciate the passion and love and work this people put into it or if I'm slowly developing an irracional hate/fear of it because it just never stops.

No one can do anything without it being "like Destiel" or "Destiel did it better". I can accept the Good Omens thing (as long as you're not attacking the fans or the people involved) because the shows have similarites. But I find "just like Dean and Castiel" or shit like that on Batman posts, I was looking at Thomas and Friends the fucking train posts because I wanted to write about the use of inanimated objects to represent the working class in children's media and instead I found a fucking Destiel post. I don't know what this two have that make everyone insane but it's getting to me. I'll evolve into Destiel Joker I'm not even kidding.

Now I'm being dramatic and don't really care as long as it's not attacking the fans or creators of another show (unless the fandom is Sherlock as a former Sherlock fan please attack Sherlock) quite the contrary it really amuses me. It's almost my safety blanket that as long as I'm in a fandom I'll find Destiel and learning about them via weird random stuff is waay funnier than watching a milion episodes show that never grabbed my interest. But also are you guys alright?
