Anyways the Shroob invasion is a canon thing. When the bros, Peach, and Bowser were really young, these purple alien mushrooms called Shroobs showed up and basically tried to overtake the Mushroom Kingdom, and probably more. The baby bros teamed up with their adult counterparts (using time travel) to stop it. That’s a super brief rundown.

As for the eye glowy thing. I essentially thought “well, the bros are kinda opposites, and are both talked about in the Dark Prognosticus and the Void Prophecy. Mario being the main hero and Luigi, apparently, being the perfect vessel for the Chaos Heart…so what if their eyes glowed the same colors as the eyes of the Ancients and Tribe of Darkness”. That’s basically the gist of it. I’m sure none of thst made sense if you don’t know about the best story ever told in Mario, but fjsjfjsjfj
