And can I say that another thing that resonates with me about ambrosius being a queer asian man is the focus on his bloodline and his heritage.

As a trans + queer asian guy I'm probably never gonna have genetic kids and as an only child that's something I've had to come to terms with. Queerphobia in Chinese culture (in my experience) in very different than in the US because instead of stemming from evangelicalism, a lot of it comes from the stigma of not being able to have kids and have a "normal" family and continue the bloodline. And the guilt of the bloodline ending with me is constantly something at the back of my mind.

Even though it's not really touched on in the film explicitly, a big part of Ambrosius' arc is saying "fuck you" to his responibility to his bloodline and choosing to be happy with his bf instead. And there's an interpretation of that which is arguing for queer asians to say a "fuck you" and choose their own happiness. We're allowed to be selfish, and choose ourselves

things for wuya's twst au i've since added and plotted out further:

wuya was orphaned from a very young age. too young to really realize what had happened to him? birds in general are notorious for favoring stronger chicks over smaller and weaker ones. and wuya was very small when he was hatched. so one day he woke up in the nest alone. and that's sort of just...how it's been. until he comes across a little malleus wandering the castle gardens. from that point on the two have been friends. which led to wuya being enrolled in NRC later.

wuya can travel very fast, very easily. as ive said, his shadow step ability allows him to move from shadow to shadow. each one creating a super highway, so he can go from campus to campus-- or kingdom to kingdom with ease.

lilia did train him as well, similar to sebek and silver.

he does occasionally eat food out of the trash. mind you he makes sure it isn't rotted or gross. but it's a habit he picked up as a fledgling, and one he occasionally commits to still. much to malleus' displeasure...

he drives sebek absolutely insane... and is very aware of it.

wuya and crowley are...often times at odds. wuya skips classes, he steals trinkets, and he breaks the "no crow form" rule OFTEN. this leads to wuya having a lot of extra projects and tasks. either on his own, or he's forced to work with other NRC students. whether it be something for himself, crowley, or the student he's paired with.
