- the absolute STUNNED look in bucks eyes after the kiss!!! as the perfect oliver stark put it: he’s found something he’s been missing for a long time

- tommy is so worried in the split second before buck tells him that it was okay

- the wordless nod after tommy asks if it was okay THIS MEANS SO MYCH TO ME

- you can FEEL the sense of relief and wholeness radiating off of buck

- his eyes following tommy’s lips as he laughs, and then the brief look down like his whole WORLD has just been turned upside down before tommy speaks again

"wait listen to me" you feel her grabbing your hand, yunjin knowing very well the act will grab your attention as she repeats her words again.

"it's not a big deal, you know two of the band members already. we are just needing a temporary singer, and you know you sing really well y/n. it'll be fun, i promise" her thumb was moving softly against your hand.

the premise was you being the singer for yunjin's band. you knew it wasn't something big she always said the band is a hobby, but growing up with yunjin you know how serious and passionate she is about music. how she dedicates her time writing songs and learning how to play new instruments, that side of hers always fascinated you.

as for you, you didn't had the talent like yunjin have with instruments but between karaoke dates you two had, your 'signing in the shower ability' managed to impress yunjin and since then she always compliment you for it.

even if yunjin says it isn't something big, you couldn't help it but to feel hesitant, what if you let her down? if you don't match the energy of the others what will happen?

"babe, hey look at me" your nervous habit of you chewing your lips didn't go unnoticed by yunjin, she gets closer, her warm hands touching your cheeks. "im not saying you have to, i-"

"i accept" you interrupt her "i.. i can be the singer. yeah, i will" your words make the expression of yunjin go to worry to excitement.

"really??" she hugs you tightly after you nod your head "oh my god, woah, im so glad, i swear I'm going to compensate you after" yunjin says and starts to shower your face with kisses "you're the best, thank you" the happiness of her actions makes you believe that you won't regret accepting that offer.

"remind me again why are we at the beach in this godly weather" you huff in frustration, hugging yunjin's warm jacket against your body more closely.

yunjin laughs at you and twirls around before answering "you said you never came here before!! it's pretty look at the scenery, like 'woah' right? and it isn't that cold too.." she continues, a shiver of cold running through her body soon after her words.

"jen summer is literally in two month, could've we waited?? you're a menace i swear" you complain again. of course the horizon was pretty, the ocean was calm and the day was near it ending, making the sky get a pretty orange color, but a cold breeze after another makes the beautiful moment ruined to you.

yunjin sudden sneeze makes you frown worried "yeah it is freezing, 'woah' my ass, can we go home now?" she grumbles, rubbing her arms to warm her own self. you roll your eyes at her antics and push her away lightly "dumbass, it was your idea"

"uh-huh, and i'm proud of it. now you won't forget i was the first one who brought you here, even if it was freezing cold." yunjin announces, pointing at herself proudly.

"uhm, i would remember it even better without this cold"

"yeah, you'll definitely forget this"

the first practice didn't go as bad as you imagined, the easy going vibe of the girls made you relaxed enough to sing confidently.

yunjin was waiting for your exit and talking to the girls of the band, getting to her side you intertwining your hands with yunjin, the taller girl smiles and press a sweet kiss on your forehead.

"hey we are going to hang out at chaewon house, do you want to go? we usually try to write lyrics but mainly is just because aunt kim cooks really well so we just eat good dinner for free" she explains happily and you see chaewon shaking her head at yunjin's words.

you stare a moment at yunjin who stares back at you confusedly. you take a few steps back pulling yunjing by the hand, just enough to make sure the others wouldn't listen

"yun..didn't we agree in making dinner together at my house today? you who suggested it, as a date"

"oh.." yunjin blinks, thrown off guard by not remembering that. "i mean, we can make it another day, no? like, we will eat for free. effortlessly. can't be better than that right?"

you stay quiet for a moment, a ache in your heart burning. what yunjin didn't knew was that you already had the dinner ready since the morning, excited to try the new recipe you made it ahead of time. but at that moment, you couldn't bring yourself to tell yunjin that.

her name being called by the bandmates pressured you to answer her question, her expectant gaze always making way to convince you of everything.

you sigh internally in defeat, putting a smile that didn't reach your eyes, you agree to yunjin. who didn't press any further and started to make her way towards chaewon's house with you.

as a kid yunjin was always full of energy, jumping and running around on the residential playground was her favorite thing to do. even if she was the only kid there, the neighborhood didn't had too many kids, and the ones it had yunjin didn't meet as much since her school had a different schedule.

so when she saw the little you, quietly sitting under a tree, she was surprised. and she was so happy when you agreed to be her friend, her 'pretty friend' she said to you. yunjin still thinks you agreed because of the candy she gave you that day.

growing up, yunjin liked even more to spend time with you. she was older by two years but yunjn admired how you didn't back down with her playful nature, there was a unspoken understanding between you two that by being in each other company was enough to have fun.

when yunjin realized she had fallen in love with you, wanting to be more then just friends. she surpressed it over months, afraid to take the risk and change the dynamic between you two.

when yunjin confessed, you never had seen her looking so different.

she was mixing her words and shifting her feet anxiously, waiting for your answer, she still looked hopeful as ever.

and even if you wanted to deny her and say you didn't felt the same, it was impossible, you didn't want to see her disappointed in you.

you didn't want to see yunjin looking at you the same way your mother looked when you denied something.

you didn't want the treatment you mother gave you that time when you refused something.

you learned from your mother to not deny the older ones, so you couldn't deny yunjin, right?

so as always, you accept yunjin words, and the pretty smile and warm hug yunjin gave you back told you you choose it right.

waiting for yunjin to pick you up after class was a common thing for you. it was the perfect time for you two to spend time together and talk about how was the day.

you were specially excited for today because yunjin said she was going to compensate for not being able to spend much time with you recently, you admired how she was focusing between her work and writing new songs to the band since you guys had a performance coming at the end of the month. you understood it all, but why she was so late?

thirty minutes had pass since you texted her to pick you up, two missed calls. when you called again at the third time, after ten seconds and at the last moment, yunjin picked up.

"jen -"

"y/nnie!! babe, heyy." a bunch of loud noises coming from the call made you wince and move the phone away from your ear, distincted loud music and muffled voices could be heard coming from the line.

"where are you yun?.. are you coming to pick me up" the noises coming from yunjin line told you the situation probably wasn't going to happen, but you asked anyway, already chewing on your lips nervously.

"what? i'm.." sudden words could be heard and the audio got muffled for a moment "babygirl hey, sorry for the noises. hm, I.. can we talk later? I'll pass by your apartment, how about that? I'm really sorry to not picking you up today, just called a cab to you by the way. but the boss invited everyone to drink and you know how it goes.. " despite the muffled noises in the background, yunjin sounded more clear this time, a tone in her voice you couldn't catch, but it was enough to reassure you. sighing in defeat you knew you didn't had too much choices, so you agreed in meeting her later.

but when you heard the soft knocks on your door few hours later, a discomfortable feeling took hold in you.

"you could've told me you weren't going to pick me up." you grumble after yunjin move back from the hug, which you barely returned.

"what?"

"you.. didn't answered me and I was there. waiting. for a second I thought something had happen but" you scoff in disbelief "when you picked up you sounded like having fun and.. i just.. can't believe it. was it hard to just text me back for a second?" you finish. sounding bitter and clearly upset, even if your intention wasn't blaming on yunjin, you couldn't help at the bite and accusation in your voice.

for a moment, the apartment became silent. yunjin stared back at you blankly. her expression shifted from confusion to anger as she processed your words.

"you know how I hate to wait for these things yunjin, we've barely seen each other this week. why didn't you just said n-"

"ooh ho, yeah, because just from one minute the princess can't wait, and wants everything by her rules." yunjin bites back, obviously annoyed.

"what?? my rules? i do everything you say yunjin, haven't you noticed? and when I ask for it you-"

"yeah yeah, if you knew how stressed i have been through the week. you have done nothing. if I say to you die for me you certainly wouldn't y/n." you scoff in amusent at yunjin's words, not believing what she just had said.

"go to your house yunjin. I don't want to fight over this" you tried your best to say it confidently but it came out so fragile that you hated yourself because of it. yunjin was about to speak again but instead let out an exasperated sigh and walks away, leaving your apartment. and leaving you with a deafening silence and a emptiness inside.

what yunjin didn't know, and unfortunately discovered later. is that you always did what she asked, whatever it was.

she spent the next day feeling incredibly guilty by her action and words, she took out her frustrations all on you and she wanted nothing more than to go back to you, apologize for what she did. trying to call you wasn't working, and the sinking feeling in yunjin's heart grew with each unanswered call.

deciding to take matters into her own hands, she drove to your house, with shaky hands, yunjin opened the front door and stepped into the strangely silent house.

she called out your name, her voice filled with a mixture of fear and hope. here was no response, just a haunting silence that surrounded her.

there didn't seem to have anything out of place, the shoes you always used when going out was untouched by the entrance. scanning around the living room yunjin found nothing but a pair of beer cans scattered around, that she found strange, you didn't usually drink.

as yunjin reached your bedroom door, a sense of dread washed over her. If only she had known that her impulsive behavior would lead to this, she would have chosen her words and actions more carefully.

her eyes scanned the room, seen even more empty alcoholic drinks on the ground, and then yunjin saw you.

hanging lifelessly from the ceiling, your body swaying slightly, as if caught in the final moments of a tragic dance.

the sight struck yunjin like a lightning bolt, freezing her in place. time seemed to stand still as she took in the devastating scene before her.

and yunjin swore, that if she could go back, just for a moment. she would give her all, just to have you again. for a moment, she would have given you everything.

she’s stuck in a trance watching you to the point she doesn’t even realize you’ve finished dancing and how you were currently staring at her. her cheeks flush as soon as she snaps back to reality as she turns her head away, crossing her arms. when you tease her about it, she’d only deny “i-i wasn’t staring at you!” even tho it’s insanely obvious she was

she probs has some toxic trait thinking she can also easily do that dance, getting all cocky w u and going “watch me do the dance better!” and proceeding to have to replay the vid a thousand times (except it’s no use, she’s still so confused <\3) she gets so embarrassed afterwards to the point u have to comfort her and let her know it’s okay ,,

beomgyu : the avid gamer who has his eyes on the screen, a console in his hands, and you on his lap. no matter what game or level he’s playing, his free hand will always snake around to your waist, as he asks you about your day and everything that you did. of course, there are some ‘me or the ps5?’ moments, but he always chooses you, quickly muttering an apology and brushing your hair with his fingers. a firm believer that you’re his princess peach and he’s your mario. will greet you in the hallways, classroom and in front of the lockers with the slightest whisper, “hi, my pretty princess peach” that leaves your cheeks as flushed as a strawberry. leads you to a hill which has a signboard while you two are playing minecraft and asks you to flip it, revealing a 'go to prom with your mario?' as he looks at you nervously, chewing on his bottom lip. attacks you with kisses when you press the green button, signaling yes, as the fireworks go off in the game.

taehyun : the soulful musician for whom, lyrics flow like a spring but has difficulty in using words to express his love for you. so instead, he writes songs dedicated to you. everything about you mesmerizes him so much that he could go on penning down lyrics about you for hours. loves it when you two go to karaoke, where he sings all the cheesy romantic songs for you. calls you his muse, because inspiration strikes him only when he's with you. sings to you when you're too stressed to calm you down. will text you to come to the music room asap and when you enter, the entire orchestra launches into a peaceful musical piece; and he begins singing "last night on earth' by green day. two wide smiles on both of your faces once he's done with the first chorus, he begins with, 'y/n, honey, will you-' but he's cut off by you jumping and shouting 'yes!', much to his delight.

hueningkai : the notorious troublemaker who's a menace to everyone except you, the calm to his storm, his one and only anchor. caging you with his body in empty nooks and corners of the school because flustering you is his hobby. late night rides on his motorcycle, your arms wrapped tightly his waist, as if you'd never let him go. loves to tuck in your hair behind your hair, because to him in that moment, you're perfect, his everything. climbs ladders and walls to sneak into your room through your window, soft feet padding through the wooden floor of your room. impresses your parents by actually showing up at your door instead of your window, with a bouquet of your favorite flowers. 'prom, darling?' he asks, your nose scrunching up cutely at the nickname, and your parents yell 'yes' from behind as he pulls you into his arms and pictures of you two get snapped by your folks for 'memories'.

ok so i do enjoy asuka guiltygear but i have been thinking REALLY hard about asuka tekken as of late so we're talking about her today

also this took me WAY too long to post i apologize but it Is out here so yaaaay

favorite thing about them:

ok so legally i have to mention asuka's tekken 8 design because motherfucker WHAT were they thinking with that one. what the fuck was the inspiration. but i love it so much i cannot lie

other than that, i really enjoy her rivalry with lili and how moderately insane that bit has gotten, and i like how they've kept her a character who is a) defensively focused in her gameplay even among the generally aggressive play of t8, and b) has a generally down-to-earth feel to her despite. Everything. happening in tekken

least favorite thing about them:

so i was actually talking to a friend about this recently and she explained my feelings really well, its like. asuka feels like the protagonist of another story that isnt being told.

it feels like she has so much stuff that COULD be a really interesting plot focus for her but it just. hasnt been? like everything between her and feng COULD be so neat but its just been sort of...by the wayside for the past few games in favor of keeping up with the mishimas (new sitcom there btw)

I know im late to post my first louis concert experience but i just really wanted to share this so here it is <3

The journey to the venue was pretty uneventful, when we got off the subway a man who worked there asked us if we’re going to the “Tomlinson concert” and gave us directions. On the bus we saw a bunch of really young fans, one of them was wearing a 0neDee shirt and i gave them a dirty look and idc if they were like 10 it felt good! Later on one of them asked if we want to be in their tiktok and wear heart shaped sunglasses… we rejected them so fast lol. So we got off the bus and walked till we saw the venue, screamed a bit, continued walking to the entrance, got past the security and then walked around without a purpose and got something to eat. In the meantime i worked on my sign. We made the mistake of not getting water afterwards and just made our way into the venue. When we got inside the venue tho the second opening act started playing. They were meh. And then we just sat there for a long time doing nothing but staring sadly at the giant poll that would block our view of louis on stage UNTIL the band appeared on the stage and THE CROWD WENT WILDDD the scream they let out made my ears RING AND THEN LOUIS WAS THERE AND HE STARTED SINGING THE GREATEST AND my life felt complete!! My heart was beating so fast and i felt lightheaded i just!!! Couldn’t believe my eyes!! I started screaming the lyrics right away. He was captivating, ethereal, powerful and OWNED the stage!!

So!! I do not remember the order of the songs but everything was amazing, he started off strong and kept it up. He did sound a bit off a few times but im guessing it has to do with the fact that he was tired bc of the previous shows. Anyways!! He literally KILLED KMM I did not want that song to end I couldn’t get enough!! He sounded SOOO good during Bigger Than Me! He hit those notes and you could tell that it’s a song that needs to be played live. Holding On To Heartache was such a moment my god he ate that UP!! That was one of the highlights for me i was really really impressed with how he sounded, he put his soul into that song and it showed! Shed a few tears as well cuz that song just hit different yk.. he did sing two 0neD songs which.. I didn’t sing along to because I genuinely didn’t know the lyrics and wasn’t going to try and remember 😭 so those were kind of the moment i let myself have a break from screaming and jumping. During WAOYF u could just tell the energy in the venue shifted. People were LOUD. As loud as the other one d songs LIKE HE KNOWS WHAT HE DID TO ALL OF US WITH THAT TRACK HE JUST KNOWS. Hearing WMI for the first time was such an experience!! The best way to describe it was nostalgic and just really sweet idk i loved it. Ok. I know I’ve heard copy like a thousand times now but… you guys the recorded version is NOTHING compared to the live version. I could feel myself ascending into heaven with every word it was just beyond words. One of my favourite moments or perhaps THE favourite part of the show for me. WALLS WAS ALSO NOSTALGIC AND I GOT TO SCREAM “you were my because” at louis with my whole heart!!!! That was so so so special definitely one of the moments i will never forget. Lucky Again was literally perfect he again hit the notes and it was perfection. The song that surprised me the most when heard live was probably Angels Fly because he just did it sooo well and had full control over the song it was just such a nice tune to hear live also one of my favourites! .Face The Music is one of the songs that sounds amazing live!! And 505… someone else did inform me that he will cover it but nothing and i mean NOTHING could have prepared me for what i heard that day. I was ON MY KNEES READY TO PLEASE HE was just so hot!!! So effortlessly hot and sexy it was almost too much for my heart. I caught myself shouting “with your hands between MY thighs” … not my proudest moment 😵‍💫 the most shocking moment was back to you ofc. i was losing my marbles when it started playing i was head empty no thoughts except for “what the fuck is happening is this a new track????” And louis starts singing and i am STILL TOO OUT OF IT TO UNDERSTAND THAT ITS BACK TO YOU so my friend had to tell me what song it is and then i was having the best time of my life. I don’t know how he managed to alter it into a rock version so perfectly but it’s not a surprise, anything that louis is involved in is absolute perfection. Out Of My System my beloved!! Could not get enough of it one of my faves. All This Time was another moment that made me emotional because it showed how louis loved performing that songs and put his heart into it. Silver Tongues was also one of my favs and i really REALLY wanted to be closer to the stage at that moment to see his chaotic ass in action 😭. They gave away free monsters when we left and a group of embarrassing people were doing a * karaoke but that’s irrelevant. Overall it was a perfect night and !! i got to meet @berlinini and @bbrox 🫶🏼

more fable tlt au thoughts

andd im back with more thoughts about my fable smp the lightning thief au. one thought that i really enjoy is Rakai as Mr D (Dionysus), simply cuz they have matching vibes in some weird way. the Oracle is Haley, i think everyone can agree on that. other thoughts for Clarisse and Ares are Ocie and Casus, which is funky cuz Ocie does feel like she could do stuff Clarisse would do, but Casus as Ares feels less fitting? its important to me to decide who is Talia simply because of The Tree On The Hill (song from the musical for all the book readers/show watchers). and since Athena is Grover, i just like the angst possibilities of Jamie being Talia and Athena failing to protect them, Jamie sacrificing themself to save others. and theres also something about Jamie being turned into a tree by Delta...turning into a pine tree. something about their last name being Pine. (yes, i am gonna ignore that Zeus turned Talia into a tree-) speaking of pine, i think Momboo fits Katie just because they both do be very nature coded. also i cant remember if i mentioned this earlier but Fable is Athena, Netherum is Pan, but i still dont know who would be Hades. my brain just came up with this on the spot but theres something about Perix being Medusa. it can either go 1 way and ignore the canon, which would make Enderian curse Perix, thats why shes mad at her, but on the other hand theres no reason for her to not like Icarus specifically. but the other way is that Fable cursed her and turned him into a monster, and theres something about Fable tricking her in canon. which also gives a really funky thing about Perix and Enderian sneaking into Fables temple to go on a date- and a funky thing about Perix and Enderian dating. and this also gives sorta a reason for Perix hating Icarus also this is the most random thing ever but Wolf as Chiron? the vibes kinda fit? none of the relationships are canon at all but thats fineee- this is mainly just because the vibes of these 2 fit well i guess. i do also have thoughts about Arisanna as Luke. cuz in Lukes good kid reprise (part of last day of summer, songs from the musical) the lyrics are literally "ive been here since i was a kid, i did everything they ever asked yeah i did and for what? you know this world will never be ours as long as our parents rule over the stars". this fits so well for Ari. she has been listening to Soraza all her life, and finally when she reaches the point of getting sick of it, she gives up on trying to impress her mom, decides that it doesnt matter because the gods just dont care. i have many thoughts about this but this post is already so long- sooo hope yall enjoyed my rambling and if you have any suggestions feel free to let me know

YET !!! ANOTHER ANALYSIS!! And for good reason this time because people keep misinterpreting Pete’s work to be about Mikey and it makes me fucking PISSED can you not let pete have one thing in his goddamn life i get it its fine to have headcanons and opinions but PLEASE for the love of god please stop discrediting all of his hard work & good writing to be about a white boy he fucked back in ‘05 this CONSTANTLY happens with poc artists and it makes me mad to no end

yep, that’s right. today we’re talking about I Am My Own Muse. writing this essay i have listened to it a grand total of twenty three times 

i like this song a lot specifically because i do kind of relate to it a lot frequently i feel like smashing a guitar until i go insane but i dont have a guitar and i dont know how to play one regardless so. uh yeah

The thing about IAMOM is that it’s saying that in the TITLE. Hes his own muse. And obviously no one can take that away. sure , some of his songs might be inspired by someone, but in the long run, who do they come from? pete. romance songs might not be about anyone in particular. I know ive wrote songs that could be interpreted as romance, but they’re actually me talking to my younger self or my future self or my friend, and the point is, even though songs written by pete may seem like they were about someone that doesnt mean they are and you cant, you CANNOT discredit the fact that he is his own muse. just like the song title says.

The song begins with a BANGING orchestral arrangement. I think the intro to IAMOM is my favorite song intro on the album. It's just very well thought out and clearly carefully planned, and quite honestly I think patrick did an AMAZING job and I'd love to see him do a breakdown of the composition here because I am IMPRESSED. Not even to mention the vocals, he is on FIRE. anyway in the rest of this essay I’ll be interpreting the lyrics and tying them back to the central topic i just opened with: How Pete Is His Own Muse. 

The first verse is quiet, and it begins like this:

“Here i am, not sure you should take a chance

I like playing dumb, letting you figure me out

But i was faded in my own defense

So drop a bomb on the things we dreamed about”

I feel as though this verse is very clear. He isnt sure that the person he’s referring to should take a chance on him, should think that he is worth it, and he likes being able to be up to someone else’s interpretation with no outside influence. i do this frequently with strangers- i stay quiet so that they can make up their own idea in their head about me. They can figure me out themself, since i clearly cant figure myself out, and i think that’s the idea pete is really aiming for here. ‘So drop a bomb on all the things we dream about” can be referring to himself or someone else, but here let’s take it in the context that he’s discussing himself. This line is repeated in the second verse, so it’s clearly one of the main points that needed to be stated here; here he is saying to himself that (again, it’s that self sabotage) he should give it up, give it all up, it’s not worth it, destroy it all, drop a bomb on all our dreams because they aren’t going to happen. Taken together with the previous lines we can basically say that pete is saying that because he is leaving himself open to interpretation from the public, the things he truly meant to say are lost. And i think that’s the main thing here, especially with the title, and obviously im doing it myself, maybe this isnt what he meant at all, but i definitely do think it correlates along those lines to some degree. 

The chorus is repeated several times throughout the song (3 times to be specific) and it goes like this:

“Smash all the guitars ‘til we see all the stars

Oh got to throw this year away

We got to throw this year away like

A bad luck charm” 

And then that repeats twice. 

I think i can safely say everyone reading this right now has gone through the pandemic. I assume three year olds dont go on tumblr. The entire smfs album references 2020 and 2019 time and time again, most critically in What A Time To Be Alive, and it’s heavily present in this song too. “Got to throw this year away (like a bad luck charm)” vocalizes the wishes of pete and everyone else who wishes to cut those years out of their brains- pete has expressed in interviews how taxing the pandemic really was on his mental health, and i think that “smash all the guitars” could symbolize the frustration and pain he really felt in that time; destroying music (one of the main things he loves) until he can sink into that despair and just float away (“‘til we see all the stars”). Another way this can be interpreted is an act of rebellion (a lot of musical artists smash their guitars during shows, cough ryan ross cough) but i dont really think that that makes as much sense in this context. 

The next verse:

“The trumpets bring the angels but they never came

No one let them in ‘cause they didnt know my name

I know i keep my feelings so tucked away

Just another day spent hoping we dont fall apart

So drop a bomb on all the things we dreamed about”

Another very pete based verse (BECAUSE HE IS HIS OWN MUSE). This kind of links to Heaven’s Gate because it’s related to the same thing- not making it on the list, not feeling worthy of getting into heaven, because this sort of self deprecation is reflected throughout most of Fall Out Boy’s albums. I could give a million examples of this, but I don’t want to be here forever. “The trumpets bring the angels but they never came/ no one let them in ‘cause they didn’t know my name” sort of brings to mind the image of a person waiting to be carried away to something they’re not entirely sure they deserve, and they’re proven correct because no one ever came to carry them away, no one ever decided that they’d be on the list to get to heaven and the angels just went marching past and pete can hear their horns, know theyre there for people who deserve heaven much more than he does. How sad is that?

“I know i keep my feelings so tucked away/ just another day spent hoping we dont fall apart” carries the feeling of not wanting to be a burden with every emotion thought and expressed, even the good ones, and ‘we’ can be referring to himself, every single aspect of himself, hoping he doesn’t fall apart into shards of the stars his guitar is made up of. and then of course it’s the line about the bomb again, although this time it feels even more internalized and personal because it’s the second time he said it, and he dreams of getting into heaven but how can he make it up there if the angels themselves know he does not deserve to and so. drop a bomb on all the things we dreamed about, folks, because they aren’t going to happen. 

The bridge: 

“So let’s twist the knife again, twist the knife again

like we did last summer

So let’s twist the knife again, twist the knife again

Oh, i’m just trying to keep it together

But it gets a little harder when it never gets better I'm trying

To keep it together, to keep it together, oh”

To me this entire bridge just feels really deeply confessional and personal. Im going to start at the bottom because i like it the best. 

He’s trying. He’s trying so damn hard- to be optimistic, to be hopeful and stay full of happiness and love but it’s SO HARD when there’s no light at the end of the tunnel to motivate him. This is still talking about quarantine, i think; i remember i was in middle school at the time; they said that we would be back in two weeks. I remember i was grateful to get a break and time off. Then two weeks turned into two years and it got really, really hard to see an end to the pandemic. When things stop improving it gets harder and harder to keep it together when you can’t see the results of any of your actions, when you’re trying your best but it still gets you nowhere. Wouldn’t you stop trying? i know i would.

And let’s talk about “let’s twist the knife” just a little bit. “Last summer” might refer to the last album release, which is Mania (even though it was released in January). Another album cycle, another twist of the knife; another bit of words that pete has to pull out of himself like ribbons, and although he loves it, that’s his job, it still feels like dredging up all the pain again. So let’s twist the knife again, dig it in just a little deeper, just like we did before. 

So, yeah. Pete is his own muse and i truly do think that that is heavily reflected in this song, even this whole album. A lot of songs in smfs seem more him-centered, because he is the writer and he is talking about himself. So Good Right Now and What  A Time To Be Alive are especially good examples of this. 

And the interesting thing about the title is that it’s pulled from a Frida Kahlo quote, which goes like this: 

“I am my own muse. I am the subject I know best. I am the subject I want to better.”

And isn’t that just it? This whole album, it’s an album of self discovery and going back to your roots and staying current anyway. It’s patrick pulling pete out of his funk and getting him back in the game; it’s an exploration of a new style, a new fall out boy. And like a phoenix, every album they rise again, still the same but somehow completely brand new. The orchestral arrangements displayed in IAMOM and SMFS and LFTOS showcase this, the new feeling but still the same, something bettered, and I’m really, really happy with how far they’ve come not only in their expansion of music but also with themselves. And I feel like this song and this title- I Am My Own Muse- is really a stand up, it’s a show of how far they’ve come. Because they are the subject they know the best.

my chemical romance has always been a band about death. bullets' bonnie and clyde, three cheers' resurrection-rampage plot, black parade's dying main character, danger days' "where the good guys die and the bad guys win". the vampires and corpse-like make-up and lyrics constantly looking to the end. 1000+ hits when you google: "death-obsessed" "my chemical romance". gerard way's "if we never play another show again, keep yourself alive" in 2008, when the band had an exhausting few years and an uncertain future (video, article).

it took a few years, but the band eventually played its last show. it wasn't just a break or dissolution. the band died. their final song was released posthumously in 2/14 and it was titled "fake your death" -- not a hint at reunification, but a finale that put to rest who they were as my chemical romance. as gerard way said: "i don't think my chemical romance is supposed to happen again. i think it's supposed to stay beautiful forever; it's a beautiful thing. it's supposed to die young in the car wreck" (kerrang , 7/14).

dying young has haunted my chem as long as death has. every single main character of theirs' was both dead and young: irl demolition lovers on the LOTMS cd, the patient being "too young to die", the fab four being teenagers according to the killjoys: california comics. even gun's "never gonna have a son" and "if im old enough to die for your mistakes / then let's go". even helena, who is directly about the ways' grandmother, is played by a young actor -- with make-up matching the bands'. there were fears surrounding gerard's health ending the band then at one point his life, as stated by brian schechter in LOTMS. after the band ended, mikey and frank had near-death experiences. gerard released hestiant alien's how it's going to be, a song about "waking up from the dream and realizing it's not exactly what you wanted" (video): "you said we'd all be dead by twenty five" and "we're just bored you're still alive". the entertainment industry is marked by the iconization of artists who died young. the 90s - 00s was a time + place defined by DARE and AIDS and young veterans. the band coincided with BIG life changes (sky-rocketing careers, new families).

this is all to say that my chem tightly links youth and death. there is also a great emphasis on death as a performance -- dedicating songs and albums and theatre productions and art and stories and appearances to it. the aesthetic of death.

though the band died young, its people didnt. years went by. my impression as an outsider to that time is that even without reason (least of all from these fuckin guys), hope didnt die. it laid dormant. the group friendship and musical relationship was revived sometime 2017 - 2018 because of a family bbq (podcast, quote). that was two years of possibility before they decided to return in 2019. after some hurdles where hope never diminished, they began their first tour after a decade -- filled with projects and personal hardships and children growing up -- in 2022.

this tour has been marked by their visible and stated joy. not a nostalgia tour, not an album tour, but a chance to "reintroduce ourselves to the world" (podcast, quote). the sources of joy are endless (isnt that just so beautiful??) one of them is discovering the link btwn living and old age.

theyre still about death, theyre still about youth, theyre still about drama. gerard's dressed as princess diane and joan darc, famous women who died young. the when we were young night 2 costumes are bout the horror of aging but not changing. it's a forever mcr theme.

oh thats a difficult one.... home by cavetown probably... musically feels great, the lyrics is touching, and its mv helps it wrap it all up nicely.... it always gives me the chills.... there are other songs that i adore with my whole being, but right now thats the one that came to mind

music definetly!!! well... visual stories like videogames or anime make me cry, and that can also be considered art.... but going with traditional meaning of art, music!!! music gives me so many feelings and lets me experiment worlds that otherwise i wouldnt... sometimes music has themes that i would otherwise never get close to, and sometimes music tells you stories without even words... or without really understanding them!!! there was this one time... that a friend was introducing me to bts and made a playlist and i was listening to it with them, and two songs, one i told them i saw a flower floating down a river, and on the other one it felt like hot like the dessert, and funny enough, he said that on the music video the second one does have a dessert and the first one had a beautiful story that had to do with flowers.... i cant remember exactly what all was, but i thought that its impressive that even without understanding any words, that music managed to pass through a message.... i dont know, i love music

oh!! another fun one!!! anything!!! you see, one of my love languages is gift giving/receiving. it doesnt mean that im materialist or anything like that, tho.... to me, what matters is the thought. literally, that you thought of me while you were getting/buying/making the drawing, thats what makes it valuable for me.

maybe its a little silly from the outside, but ill use a story that happened. we made a secret santa with some friends, but the person who organized it got it wrong, placed a person twice and didnt put me in the options. so when the day came, i was the last one, and the second person who hadnt given the gift to the repeated person, ended up giving it to me. it was basically the same that i asked for. but..... they didnt think of me when they bought it, it wasnt for me.

thats why... you can give me a flower you found on the side of the road, or an amiibo, or a drawing, or a lollipop from your candy bag, or anything really. because what matters to me is that you thought of me.... i hope that makes sense hahahahaha

The good thing about me getting back to your ask so late is I can now post a proper pic of them together instead of a collage 🙌🏻. Oh my goodness, the way she looks at him. Yes!

3. What’s their favorite thing to tease each other about?

Control. They are constantly teasing each other about being or not being in control.

He always tells her that she likes to be a controlling bish, and she tells him that he actually likes being told what to do. (They are both right)

In the bedroom? They switch dynamic. Just so you know. 👀

6. Do they have pet names for each other? Do they like them?

I’ll start with Macha first. She calls him “Cubs” because she is older (6 years), and they talked about her being his cougar, which she thinks is hilarious. He likes being her cub and also being called that. She sometimes calls him boo bc she likes the sound of that, and he likes that as well. And if she wants something from him or wants to flatter him, she calls him “my king” and he’s ALL OVER THAT.

He calls her “Kitten” mostly - she reminds him of a kitten bc she is playful and cute and has no idea how sharp her claws are and that they can hurt. She loves being called that. It makes her feel special. He calls most other women “dollface” and that’s what he called her until she got upgraded to his Kitten. He also calls her princess from time to time and she pretends to not like it but then she always has those lyrics in her head from that Alanis Morisette song and she gets all giddy and she doesn’t really object (they go “ you treat me like Im a princess, I’m not used to liking that”)

12. What struggle have they seen each other through?

They haven't figured out one of them yet - moving in together. They both like the idea, but they also value their own space and kind of order (or ordered chaos) they have.

Vinnie is much more minimalistic by the way so his place is more organized.

And Macha values her alone time so much that she can't imagine having him around all the time (which he would prefer).

(I do have a lot of struggles for them in my head but they are all WIP so this will have to do for now)

19. What values do they not share? How do they reconcile those differences?

Family is super important for Vinnie because he didn't have much family time growing up because of losing his parents. He does have a lot of cousins, though. They are pretty tight, and he adored his grandma. He felt very drawn to the Valentinos when they took him in because they immediately felt like a chosen family to him, and he still hangs out with them often.

Macha, on the other hand, is glad she doesn't have a lot of contact with her family anymore because family life was traumatizing for her, constant breaking of boundaries, high expectations, and a lot of constraints. She values her independence now and finally feels emancipated from her parents. She has a big immediate family and patchwork style because her dad remarried twice. Lots of half siblings. She does get along with them, but they don't see each other often.

Vinnie is very curious about meeting her parents, but she doesn't want that. So for now, they hang with his friends and family, and she leaves whenever it gets too much for her. Vinnie respects that she decides when it's time to meet the family.

23. What was their first impression of each other?

Vinnie thought she was pretty and sassy. He liked that she was blunt and to the point. He wondered about her capabilities bc she didn't let him know all the stuff she could do.

Machas first thought was "Damn, he tall. And... cute." And she was kind of flustered that he started flirting right away but couldn't resist flirting back - which isn't her usual mode.

24. How did they fall for each other?

Macha fell for him pretty quickly. There was a moment during their first gig together (basically the day after they met) where he had to protect her physically and he did so quickly and effortlessly and she couldn't help but feel very attracted to that. She had always looked out for herself up until that point, so someone suddenly having her back like this made her feel all kinds of things. She did not act on her feelings quickly, though, because she knew he was a womanizer and she wasn't looking to be his next fling. She wanted something serious. She chose Vinnie for a multitude of reasons, but the important thing is that she chose him very consciously, and she had never done that before in her relationships (she settled for the men).

Vinnie took longer. Granted, he wanted to get into her pants from the beginning but she didn't react to his usual advances which confused him. She was still very friendly and even affectionate with him. So he asked her out on a date because he assumed she needed that to give into him.

But that date and what followed was so different from what he usually experienced with women that his interest and curiosity grew steadily (apart from one incident at The Afterlife 👀 they didn't get intimate until weeks later, which was unheard of for him). He fell for her when he realized she was interested in his true self and did not want to change anything about who he was.

thoughts? favourite songs?

look i LOVE it (cause i would die for taylor swift duh) and before i say anything;

i would preface by saying that i only listened to like 10/18 of the songs and only 2 songs in their entirety. so let’s go — my first impression of the album was “oh this is POP” like pop-pop which is like yeah! obviously! taylor is a pop artist but i really wanted her to delve into a more of a folklore sound cause it’s a ~poetry~ album. second impression was; god there’s a lot of marriage/wedding/ring allusions. the sound is BEAUTIFUL tho like I’m pretty sure there’s sax in one of the songs, a song solely on piano (i think) plus a lot of tinkering around on jack’s synth keyboard 🙄 my immediate favourites were so long, london and my boy only breaks his favourite toys (the latter one is a BOP and so long london is very much on like the same tune? like i was waiting for a beat drop but there wasn’t one…much to think abt) the title track is very red (2012) coded LIKE THERE’S A PATTI SMITH AND DYLAN THOMAS REF!!! but there’s also a charlie puth lyric???? that gave me the ick. i can do it with a broken heart sounds like a bleachers song & im not even kidding. objectively the best songs are probably Florida!!!, fresh out of the slammer and who’s afraid of little old me? these very much stood out from the rest of the songs. that’s all i have for now.

You were an exchange student in Korea. You studied music in college and lived on campus.

You also had a girlfriend, named Lee gahyeon.

You had met her one day on Campus at the starbucks. You thought she was a student like you, and when you saw her pink colored hair you just had to tell her how amazing she looked.

You waited in line and once your drink was in hand, you looked around to spot the pink haired girl.

You saw her standing a few meters away, talking with one girl that seemed to be older.

You approached the both of them and gently called out to the girl. She turned around, calling you by an unknown name before jumping, probably realizing you weren't the person she thought.

And unfortunately she spilled her drink on you.

You weren't too pleased by it at that moment, but now, thinking back on it, you wouldn't change it for the world.

She gasped and watched as the red drink covered your white shirt. You stayed there stunned.

She started panicking, excusing her clumsiness and trying to dry out your shirt with nothing but her hands.

You gently took her hand into yours to stop her

‘’Hey it's fine’’ you smiled, trying to reassure her.

Your shirt being white, was now pretty much translucent, the girl noticed and suddenly blushed.

‘’I'm so sorry’’ she repeated embarrassed

You let out a small laugh ‘’Well… I just wanted to tell you I love your hair… now that my shirt is pink i'm matching with you’’ you joked making her giggle

The older girl was coming back with paper to help you clean up.

‘’Here, oh i'm Jiu by the way!’’ She smiled apologetically

‘’I'm y/n! Nice to meet you’’ you smiled again

‘’Im lee Gahyeon’’ she slightly bowed at you

‘’Nice to meet you gahyeon, so are you guys students here too?’’ You asked

The two of them looked at each other with a small giggle, you frowned not sure what to make of their reaction

‘’Were not students, we work in music actually’’ Jiu smiled at you

Gahyeon blushed, knowing her unnie too well to not recognize her teasing whenever someone her age was in front of them

To change the subject the girl proposed to go get you a shirt at the college’s shop.

You agreed, starting to feel cold from the drink soaking your shirt.

A conversation about music sparked up on the way. You even had the chance to show them a snippet of a song you were producing.

While Gahyeon stayed quiet for the most of it, Jiu wasn't shy to express how impressed she was.

She even ended up giving your Company's manager number, hoping you could maybe find an internship there.

You had mentioned it, the internship being necessary for you to finish your diploma.

After almost an hour of chatting, you split ways.

And that's how you met your girlfriend.

A simple accident leading into you showcasing your talent to two girls who you didn't know were idols.

You got a number, got an interview and was accepted for an internship.

To your suprise, you met the two girls again, now being introduced to you with their group as the one and only Dreamcatcher.

You slightly gasped before rapidly bowing down to them, earning a giggle from them.

After presentations, you learn you'd be helping the main composers work on their next album for your internship.

And that's when you got close to Gahyeon, she would often call you for help with her lyrics, being too shy to ask the big producers the group was working with.

With that you quickly began becoming friends and often hanged out to help her with her solo song.

After a while, the two of you started seeing each other outside of work and quickly developed feelings.

Gahyeon was the one who admitted liking you when the two of you were joking around after a drink.

You asked her then if she wanted to go on a date with you.

After a few dates you both decided to make it official but keep it as private as possible from the public.

Your relationship was fresh after all and you mentioned to her that you were embarrassed to tell her group members about it.

But with how many times a week Gahyeon would go over to your place, the girls already had guessed, and to your surprise they were fine with it.

Tonight was a Friday night, you were supposed to work but was called off at the last minute.

So you decided on surprising Gahyeon at the dorm for a special adventure, as you would call it.

The dorm was about a 15 minute walk away, so you made your way there on foot.

You would have liked for their dorm to be on the first floor, only having to knock on her window but it wasn't that easy. That's why you had a plan.

You bringed a cardbox and a cap with you along with a pen.

You hid your face with the cap and knocked on the door.

Siyeon answered. You really hoped she wouldn't recognize you so you could keep this a surprise.

You told her you had a package for miss lee gahyeon and needed a signature.

The door closed only to be opened a minute later by none other than your girlfriend.

She looked at the package before looking up at you.

‘’Hi miss lee gahyeon?’’

She furrowed her brow before nodding

‘’I'll have you sign here and… leave a kiss here’’ you playfully tapped your lips, bending down for her to see your face.

‘’Y/n!’’ She exclaimed before pulling you inside. She looked in the hall before making a run to her room with your hand in hers. She closed the door behind you.

‘’Hey baby, i thought i-‘’ you were cut by her lips hungrily crashing on yours, pushing you against the door.

She then walked backwards towards her bed, turning you around before making the both of you fall on kt.

She hovered over you with a grin.

You lifted up your hands in defeat ‘’Please Miss it was only a prank’’ you cheekily smiled while she giggled at you

She kissed your nose before letting herself drop on you. She placed her face in the crooks of your neck before inhaling your perfume.

‘’I missed you so much’’ she mumbled

You hugged her back ‘’i missed you too baby’’

You then turned her on her side

you were now both facing each other

‘’I got called off so I thought maybe we could go out tonight?’’ You asked softly while your hand was lazily running up and down her thigh and back.

‘’Y/n i have a radio show tomorrow morning, i don't think the unnies would let me’’ she pouted

‘’They don't have to let you if they don't even know about it’’ you smirked making her giggle once again

‘’Okay, but only for an hour’’ she suddenly said, acting serious, almost as if she was scolding you.

You got up and picked her up, swirling her around in your arms, making her squeal in surprise, earning you a punch on the shoulder.

She cupped your face and kissed you, this time gently.

You put her down and the both of you sneaked out of the dorm successfully.

You were both frolicing in the streets of Seoul, hand in hand, laughing your stresses away.

Your plan was to bring gahyeon to a secret garden you used to take care of, but the girl seemed to have another plan.

She pulled you towards a small shop with a glowing sign.

An ice cream shop!

She jumped in excitement as she reached the door, opening it for you to follow her.

She pulled on your arm, getting you close to her side.

‘’What flavor do you want?’’ She asked excitedly as she looked through the glass display.

‘’What ever you want, I'll try as well’’ you smiled at her, admiring her child-like excitement and her gummy smile.

Once she decided, she whispered it to you with a kiss to your ear.

You ordered for the both of you and took the cones before exiting, still wanting to admire the night sky.

You walked arm in arm while savoring your ice cream, with her hair covering her side profile you almost didn't notice the touch of ice cream that was painting her nose a rosy color.

‘’Gah wait’’ you smiled, stopping in your tracks to turn her towards you, palm on the side of her face.

Her eyes shined as she looked up at you.

‘’Here’’

You grazed your thumb along the tip of her nose, making her cutely pout.

You guided your finger down to her pout

‘’Now what's this?’’ You asked tilting your head

She couldn't keep up her pouty act and smiled

You looked into her eyes

''Can i kiss you?’’ You softly whispered

She nodded smiling once again, now pulling you in by your neck, both of her arms finding their way around it.

You stayed there, simply tasting each other’s lips and enjoying the warmth of each other's body.

As she pulled away to caress you face you remembered something

‘’Hey, there's this place i want to show you, just a bit outside of town’’

She nodded, still having her arms around you neck

‘’I'd love for you to show me y/n’’ she smiled.

‘’Alright, last one there is a loser’’ you exclaimed before running away from her

You heard her screeching before laughing.

Although you did call a race, you stopped not too long after to wait for her.

She linked her arm with you once again and followed your steps to this hideout of yours.

You walked on the outskirt of the city, now walking up a slight hill.

After a few hundred meters you both arrived in front of a gate

‘’Wait isn't this a private property?’’ Gahyeon asked worriedly

‘’Yes’’ you smiled

‘’But i used to do gardening for this old guy, he told me i could always hang out here if i wanted’’ you added

''Aren't we gonna give that old man a heart attack if he sees us’’ she asked sarcastically

‘’No no don't worry he’s for sure dead asleep’’ you reassured her

You both looked at the stone wall and metal gate.

You started climbing over the wall when you remembered Gahyeon.

‘’Oh sorry’’ you laughed before jumping back down

‘’Here’’ you placed your hands together for her to step on.

She looked unsure

‘’I got you i promise’’ you smiled at her

She nodded before slowly getting ready to climb.

She stepped on your hand and you pushed her up before climbing next to her.

You dropped down and helped her down, putting your hands on her waist.

‘’Thank you’’ she smiled at you

You took her hand and leaded further into the seemingly never ending garden.

Thankfully the garden was lit up by lanterns, shining on every single flower during the night time.

Gahyeon stopped in front of a wall of flowers, caressing one of them before softly humming as she basked in the sweet smell of the flower.

You took your phone out and secretly snapped a few photos of her, making it your new wallpaper immediately.

You watched gahyeon as she walked through the flower garden, she seemed so entranced by all the colors and the wonderful fresh air procured.

She kept on stopping to look at each type of flower, asking you what the name of it was.

‘’You really fit well in this garden Gahyeon’’ you remarked as she stopped in front of a fountain.

‘’How so?’’ She questioned with a gummy smile, knowing what you had up your sleeve.

‘’Well you fit in so well because i can't tell which is the flower when i look around’’

She shyly laughed, smacking your arm.

You kissed her cheek before pulling on her arm to bring her further in.

You approached the end of the garden, leaning over the edge of a hill.

You told Gahyeon to wait there before you left towards a small building made of wood.

You entered and came back out with a lounge chair and a wool blanket

Gahyeon looked at you curiously

‘’How did you get those?’’

‘’Oh I used to watch the sunset when I worked here so I would always leave this chair and a blanket in that shed’’ you smiled before dropping the chair and laying down on it.

You patted the place next to you on the chair.

She joined in, squeezing her body next to yours on the comfortable lounge chair.

You draped the blanket over the both of you and wrapped your arms around her.

‘’What now?’’ She questioned

‘’Well I thought we could watch the sunrise together… if that's fine with you?’’ You looked at her, hopeful

She replied with a sweet and gentle kiss to your lips.

She pulled back to whisper to you

‘’I would love too y/n’’

‘’Perfect’’ you smiled before kissing her again, hoping this moment would never end.
