Summary: Based off my previous fic Heaven:

Keeping their relationship a secret considering the reader is the younger sister of Jimmy, Jey, and Solo, things get tough for Sami and the reader's relationship, having to make a big choice when things implode...

Ever since that night in my hotel room, Sami and I kept it behind my family's back, but we were as close as close could get. Not leaving each other's sides, always laughing and putting smiles on each other's faces, he even started calling me his little angel, which always made my heart flutter.

My heart was filled with such strong emotions and overflowed just by looking at him. With all that emotion came a great price though.

Anxiety nor paranoia could even describe how I felt when Roman was around. Thankfully, I didn't have to worry as much considering my older brother Jey finally loosened up and became friends with Sami. But Roman was always questioning him, testing him, and when Tribal Court came?

Jey was my savior that day, protecting Sami from Solo's attack and Roman's accusations. I knew there was nothing I could do. Like any of them would listen, but I was so grateful Jey knew that things weren't right.

Deep down inside, I knew this wasn't over. After having my own title match, I was informed only Sami and Paul would be going out with Roman during the main event. My heart instantly dropped. I tried to shower and watch the women's rumble match, considering the winner could very well be my next opponent.

But I couldn't stop worrying. Jumping at the knock on my door:

"Hey, my angel. You in there?"

"Coming!" I rushed to the door, Sami trying to smile for me, but I could tell that he was worried sick just like me. We both knew tonight was going to be rough.

"I just wanted to give you a hug before I go out there with Roman," He whispered softly, knowing that he really needed some kind of comfort, that I gladly gave him with a tight hug:

"You listen to me. Don't do a thing out there. Don't talk to either of them, just let them wrestle. Okay? This is Roman's fight. Not yours."

"I will, angel," I could even hear his hurt through his voice, wanting to take it away, squeezing him tight before I picked up my head to kiss:

"And just be careful. Please."

He only nodded, pressing his lips a little harder and it nearly put me in tears. He kissed me as if it were the last chance he'd get to. Watching him walk away, I let those few tears fall, but having to clean myself up as I heard my phone, seeing Jimmy's contact pop up.

Jimmy, Solo, and Jey had me come to their locker room to watch the match and it had me on the edge of my seat. Kevin Owens was no push over and how he kept kicking out was mind blowing. All till Roman speared him through the barricade.

That was the beginning of the end. Roman beating the back of his head against the steel steps, getting him in the ring and I couldn't even watch Roman get the pin as Solo was at the door walking out, "Let's go."

I never felt my heart race so quickly, making our way out to the ring with Roman in the center, titles held high, Sami just staring at us like a plea for help.

Just the look Roman gave to Jimmy, Jey, and Solo had me swallowing a breath. Jumping into the ring just to start beating the shit out of Kevin. He wasn't exactly a friend of mine or anything, but superkick after superkick, just a straight up beat down, it was hard for even me to watch.

If things couldn't get any worse, Roman's laughs caught my attention, handcuffs jingling in each of his hands. I never felt so scared and useless, just standing in the corner, watching Kevin get handcuffed to the ropes, completely defenseless and taking even more superkicks from Jimmy and Jey.

I couldn't watch anymore, but looking and seeing Roman putting the chair in Sami's hands, screaming at him:

"DO IT! HIT HIM!"

We all knew that deep down inside, Sami cared for Kevin, and I wanted to grab them both and just book it out of there, but Sami tried to deescalate the situations, telling Roman this wasn't worth his time, just for Roman to yell even louder:

"I WON'T SAY IT AGAIN!"

There was no way out of this, Roman standing before Kevin Owens as Sami stood behind him with the chair and for a moment, Sami stared at me in the corner, as if he was telling me that he was sorry, filling the entire arena with gasps when the chair smacked Roman's back.

I started shaking so hard, seeing the looks on Jimmy and Solo's faces, just to watch Sami eat one of the nastiest superkicks Jimmy's ever delivered. Covering my mouth, I could only watch in the corner, Jimmy and Solo taking turns beating up Sami.

Roman made it to his feet and I thought I had some hope when he pointed at Sami, commanding Jey to join in on the beating, but Jey didn't move.

"Jey, please-" I whispered, but the crowd's roar blocked out my words, everyone in even more shock as Jey shook his head and left the ring, clearly fighting some hard feelings.

All that did was piss Roman off even more, taking the chair again, and that's when I couldn't just stand there anymore. I refused to stand here and watch Roman do this.

The crowd was almost deafening when I ran over to Sami, hugging his body and bracing myself for an impact, Roman going to swing, but leaving the chair in the air. Staring at me confused.

"Y/N, what the hell are you doing?!"

"Just stop this! Please!" I pleaded, shaking my head and trying to fight the tears, but I failed miserably, crying horribly, "Roman, please!"

"And why should I?!" Things just went from horrible to worse, Roman trying to yank me away from Sami's limp body, but I was hugging him so tight that I wouldn't budge, "He claims he's, our family?!" He just hit me with this damn chair! He ain't our family!"

"Yeah! BUT HE'S MY BABY!" I screamed so loud that it strained my voice, silence falling with all eyes on me. Now I was the one who was pissed, eyes staring a hole through Roman, "I love him, and I won't let you do this to him!"

Jimmy and Solo only exchanged looks, not sure what to do, and Roman was having none of it, laughing at me:

"You? You were the 'angel' I heard him talk about before?"

"I am," I huffed, sending the crowd crazy as I stood up tall, measuring up Roman, glaring, "And if you try to hurt him again. You're going to deal with me."

"Jimmy! Solo!"

"Angel, please," I turned my head for only a second when I felt Sami's hand around my ankle, desperately trying to pick himself up, but I kept protecting him, not sure if Jimmy and Solo were going to listen to Roman:

"Jimmy! Solo! Get your sister, NOW!"

"Sis-" Jimmy at least didn't want to do this, taking my hand softly, but when I tried to snatch it away, Solo was at my other, both pulling me into a hug that I couldn't break.

"I WILL NEVER FORGIVE ANY ONE OF YOU! STOP!"

Damn them for having such a tight grip, no matter how hard I trashed and kicked, I couldn't escape Jimmy and Solo, crying and screaming while Roman smacked Sami with the chair. Over and over till his body was motionless. Looking dead against the mat.

I literally couldn't breathe, and Jimmy let his guard down because of that, trying to calm me down:

"Y/N, it's-"

"Fuck you!" I cried angrily, elbowing him hard so that I was free and running back to Sami's body, a death stare locking into Roman's eyes while he stood over us, having the damn nerve to smile.

The crowd was chanting exactly what I was thinking, "Fuck you, Roman!" Never heard such loud boos and screaming in an arena before. I had never been so hurt and Roman deserved to get hit with that chair after everything he'd done.

"And don't worry, I'm not finished with you, either," Roman's authority meant nothing to me now, his words meaningless and I made sure he knew as I growled back:

"Go to hell."

I refused to let Sami go till they were out of the ring and out of my sight, a bit relieved when he finally started to move, medical personnel tending to him and Kevin. Just to prove my loyalty to them as well, I already had Sami's arm wrapped around me once he was out of the ring, but I look Kevin's too, strong enough to be a base for both of them.

"You know," Kevin huffed, even while beat up, smiling at him, "You got yourself one hell of a girl, Sami."

Sami didn't say a word, but I could see the small smile through his hair, parting ways once we were in the back and I made sure that the medical personnel checked him thoroughly, needing to make sure that he wasn't hurt.

He did need his midsection wrapped up and with the time given, I moved like the wind to get all our stuff out of my locker room and made sure Roman nor my brothers were there, Jey nowhere to be found either.

I was out of breath and panting when I got back to Sami in the ME office, looking and listening to his soft voice:

"Come here, angel."

Great, here came the tears again as I came and hugged him softly, the scene of Roman beating him with that chair burned into my mind, all I could do was cry.

Sami hugged me back as tightly as he could, head against mine as he whispered, "I'm gonna be alright, okay? I'm sorry that I started all these problems with your family-"

"No, Sami," Picking my head up and wiping away my tears so he could see the seriousness in my eyes, "Roman damn well knows that what he did was unfair to you. Roman and my brothers have used you, worked you like a dog, and I understand how you feel about Kevin. Roman deserved to get hit with that chair, but you did not deserve what he just did to you."

I had to step away again and breathe, wiping away more tears. All I could think about was beating Roman's ass myself, but Sami pulled me back into another hug, fighting his own tears:

"Kevin's right. I sure have one hell of a girl."

"I'd fight my brothers, I'd fight Roman," I sniffled, holding his forehead to mine and crying, "I'd fight the whole damn world for you, Sami. I wish I could've done more. It makes me feel like shit."

"I got myself into this mess with Roman, okay?" Picking his head up and being strong for me, he made sure to look into my eyes while assuring, "And we will get out of it. I promise. Don't beat yourself up over this."

Nodding softly, I just hugged him again, needing the comfort, and as always, he knew how to make me smile some, praising me:

"Also, I've never seen someone so badass stand up to Roman like that."

"I should've kicked him in the dick now that I think about it," I tried making myself laugh and it helped somewhat, not as much as what I heard next:

"You did all you could with the odds stacked against you, and I love you even more for that, my sweet angel."

"I love you too, Sami," Voice breaking down on me while my hands cradled his face, kissing softly, "I love you so much."

Without a doubt, Supplementations and Upgrades! This is a fic inspired by a Tumblr post wondering what if BioWare *had* gone with the apparent original idea of the geth bringing Shephard back to life for ME2. I wrote the first chapter as a one-off with my Shephard, Rochelle (biotic ping pong ball of death), and then the idea just wouldn't leave me alone! Ended up being over 230k words and honestly it's my biggest project to date and the one I'm most proud of 😁 I constantly re-read it, and have commissioned art for various chapters from @defenestratin! (With plans for more bc I CANNOT get enough of how they draw Rochelle 😍)

7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?

In some ATLA stuff I've been working on, I've been enjoying adding some more West Asia to things. There's not a lot of West Asian/North African influence on the show, but it's there (particularly with the Sand Benders) and I think it's fun to explore and add some more nuance to! Particularly because in both shows the Sand Benders are not really...presented with any nuance.

So I've been having fun adding more West Asia to the Earth Kingdom, particularly foods and different little cultural things here and there to bring more of that influence in! Especially because I think large parts of the fandom don't realize like...that this stuff is already in the show, that West Asia is part of Asia, and perhaps we would like to be presented as a little more then 'those horrible evil irredeemable desert people who stole Appa'.

46. Do you prefer writing on your phone or on a computer (or something else)? Do you think where you write affects the way you write?

I'm really really bad at typing on my phone (like can barely make it through a word without one typo at least bad) so I use my computer most of the time. I have also been extremely won over by Scrivener as it fits in perfectly with my typical writing process that I've had since I first started writing on the computer in like...middle school.

With art and writing I tend to start many projects at once and jump rapidly between them. Either due to not wanting to write a certain part, feeling like writing a certain mood or ship or character, or feeling a sudden burst of inspiration for something. So Scrivener definitely enables me to write this way due to how it's set up for you to write different things in sections and flip between them easily. All of my one shots are in one document and I just file through them accordingly. If a one shot gets too big though, I make it's own document for ease of editing and flipping between parts! If I didn't write on my computer I definitely wouldn't do this, it'd be a lot more work I think.

However I do sometimes write on my phone, mostly exclusively if I'm away from my computer and have an idea I NEED to get down. Ironically, sometimes this is some of my most fun stuff, probably because it's the type of writing that I just need to get out and that stuff is always the coolest I think.

So I'm not team green I actually hate team green but I will put it all aside and do this bc it's about outfits and I feel like anyone should be able to put their bias aside for something as simple as this

Alicent Hightower

I like the cuts on the sleeves and neckline I don't think it really fits with the time and the other dresses (but I mean Rhaenyra's dress with the cuts on the sleeves didn't either so it's not a first) the belt is what I really love about it I actually like that it's tight around her waist but then it also dangles in front of the dress I don't know if this is gonna make sense but it kinda gives it depth (?), I don't however like the necklace at all and once again the earrings look cheap for some reason.

This is another that I have a love hate relationship bc I don't like the waist of the dress and the material specially the stitching of the two dragons looks SOOOOO cheap it looks like one of those dresses you buy from a cheap and sketchy website which is sad bc with the right fabric it would have been soooo much more beautiful. It breaks my heart

And now for the love of my life this dress has to be my favorite dress that Alicent wore its soooo pretty I love everything about it the sleeves the loose sleeves the fabric the patterns the little belt that is not actually a belt but kinda looks like one, the neckline it's all perfect

Now for this one I have to include two photos bc of the little "jacket", the dress itself, I hate it mostly the sleeves the way they look so puffy for no reason and the huge belly that doesn't really look realistic doesn't help lol, but I do love that little "jacket" thing so that's why I included it I think it makes the outfit much better and I really like the thing she has in her hair I have no idea what it's called lol

*sigh* Ugh, Olivia looks so good but the fabric is just no and it doesn't fit well and once again I for once don't like the belt there, when she adds that cape I forgot to get a pic it gets kinda better but I feel like it's one of those dresses that it all depends on lighting too, but I like the detail on the neckline

I looooove the cut in the dress and those gold "buttons" (once again English is not my first language I know those are not buttons but I can't think of the name) I like the details on the wrists and sleeves but I still can't decide if I like all that fabric hanging from her arms I feel like it would look better if it was a sheer more soft and light fabric if that makes sense, and i wish she had some type of headpiece.

To be fair I haven't read Every book, just the Mond ones bc...mondstadt bias... (and the one abt the store bc it is both liyue and mond, and rex incognito bc it looked fun) so I didn't notice the liyue quest repeating fjfdj. I find reading them kinda fun bc most of the books are subjective so fiction and truth are painted with the same brush, so you kinda wonder if all these fantastic things could be true! though that might just be me bc I'm a bit of a weirdo and a romantic that way :P I still want to reunite the boy and the spring fairy!

The weird thing is that for all that Dvalin attacked Mondstadt at the beginning, from then on it honestly doesn't feel like he has a beef with Mondstadt so much as with Barbatos personally, because he doesn't speak a single word to anyone EXCEPT Venti. To be fair it is kind of implied only Venti and the Traveler can understand when he speaks (Jean's "he can comunicate with the dragon?" and the fact that Dvalin didn't simply SAY "Yo, Dvalin of the East Wind here, I come in peace" but that's ALSO so badly established it's probably purely my conjecture. Hey Dvalin...why don't you try singing...I'm sure ppl would have a bit of a harder time seeing a singing dragon as threatening...)

Oh man YES I'd kill for a PROPER account of when Dvalin first awoke and how painful misunderstandings built until we got the situation that the Traveler arrived into...especially since they HAVEN'T UPDATED THE BOOKS SINCE THE BETA, where the Cataclysm had happened 100 years ago instead of 500, so I was sweating throughout the whole read like "Venti I love you and I can SEE you love Dvalin but if you took 400 YEARS to awaken to help him you better have the mother of all explanations primed and at the ready" like on one hand I'm glad it's a typo but on the other hand... how can they be this sloppy T-T

Which reminds me...when did Venti wake up. "Best bard of mondstadt three times in a row" Okay but is that a monthly award?? I first thought it was a yearly award but I can't fathom Venti being awake three years with Dvalin in pain and not do anything until we arrived...if only to play translator so the misunderstandings DON'T happen (if I'm not imagining things and the Sage kid was right. It's funny imagining Venti talking to animals and animals following him around like a disney princess, not gonna lie. Especially given that cats canonically follow him around, hehe). And like...literally nobody mentions the Other dragon that has been a Problem for the past thousand years? Like don't get me wrong, Ursa the Drake existing makes the Durin and Stormterror problems seem like an absolute joke (whoa, the dragon is such a big threat Barbatos awoke to put a stop to it! Nevermind the dragon that has been atacking mond for the past thousand years, that one doesn't matter) and I'm glad that they avoid mentioning it's the same drake in the canon text, but like......what does that mean for the timeline........how long have venti and dvalin been awake?? Mihoyo! Answer me!! *shakes phone with hoyoverse loading screen like a maraca* do you think we'll get a hint eventually over why Venti goes on such long sleeps? And don't even get me started in the mess that is the four winds, bc there's the knight of boreas but the wind is Lupus Boreas (How did he die anyway, how did he live despite that anyway) but the lion of the south is Jean? And is the Falcon of the West Venessa or the knights? Is there a knight title reperesentative of each wind— *slams the brakes*

I just have so many questions that either I convince myself everything will be addressed in the future or I'll go crazy lmfao, so I kinda end up missing the obvious holes as long as the info is there even if it wasn't properly introduced in the narrative haha. You're so right about the vagueness though!

And I'm playing inazuma chapter 2 rn and though I did love seeing the wider repercusions of the shogun's decisions I really, really want to poke the resistance like hey! Literally any business that exports anything ever is suffering! Places that depend on tourism are suffering! The outlanders are being opressed! There's! food! shortages!! If you really are so short-handed bc "repel the vision hunt decree" is not a popular sentiment, add an addendum to "repel the closed border decree" and I'm sure you'll get a lot more backing! Like what even is the endgame here, just convince the shogun she's wrong through war? At least say that you're trying to depose her! (It's so funny to me that Ayaka's all wide-eyed like just speaking badly of the Shogun is the height of daring-do, like boy do I have a story to tell you about Decarabian...also there really should have been more of a fallout about the shogun *personally* taking Thoma's Vision *without even informing the Yashiro comission leaders* like. I'm not an expert in fantasy politics but that seems like a very clear snub, given that Thoma works directly under the shirasagi himegimi?? Is it just me?)

It's the opposite for me. I absolutely hate that both books and characters are so unreliable. It doesn't feel like it's meaningful "unreliable narrator" situation but rather the writers using a cheap excuse to patch holes in their own lore.

Mondstadt in particular has a lot of timeline mistakes, like Diluc saying that Barbatos hasn't been seen in 1000 years, despite records clearly stating he appeared for the Cataclysm 500 years ago. All of this adds to the confusion about Venti's situation in general. It's very... yes, vague. I don't think Venti ever directly confirms that he was sleeping or got poisoned by Durin. For all we know, he was just out of town, and Dvalin's only been awake for like a week, so Venti only just returned and found out.

But I have to say...

it's VERY funny that you're only partway through Inazuma. No wonder you're still so optimistic about the writing.

You've basically hit on one of Inazuma's two major problems. The first problem is the character writing, with the excessive reliance on NPCs and poor pacing. The second problem is in regard to the politics of the situation.

Spoilers, but keep in mind that the Archon quest ends on Raiden removing the Vision Hunt decree, but NOT Sakoku. Sakoku isn't lifted until the end of Raiden's story quest chapter 2 (aka the only actual, complete character arc in the game). I... am somewhat suspecting that part of the reason they pivoted to be all about the Vision Hunt is because they realized they can't lift everything at the end of the Archon quest because what would Raiden do in her story quests then? They needed to manufacture two different story climaxes, so they split up the decrees.

Alternatively, maybe they just wanted to make fantasy Japan suck as much as possible, even if it didn't jive with overall worldbuilding. Who can say.

Anyway, I was very interested in Genshin's lore before Inazuma dropped and for the first patch of Inazuma. Then we got Inazuma act 3, which was very... controversial, shall we say, and my expectations kept going lower and lower as we went. I would say there were three things (characters) that more or less convinced me that Genshin writing is basically not worth my time: Azhdaha, Signora, and Scaramouche.

It's not as noticeable when you're catching up, but Azhdaha and the geovishaps got a lot of buildup during the Liyue patches. And then we finally get a chapter 2 story quest, Zhongli's. And it's just... bad. It's so bad. All that lore, for this?

Then we got Signora, who had so much backstory, being Rostam's girl and the same lore stuff mentioning that his student joined the Abyss while she joined the Fatui, so surely that will matter?? It does not, her backstory is literally never mentioned and if they try to give it relevance now, it'll be a bad joke.

And then we finally get Scaramouche in Sumeru, and he's like... they spent multiple events bringing up Kazuha's background, and I was pretty annoyed because I dislike him since they handled his character arc so horrendously. And then you realized all that about Kazuha was actually just buildup for Scaramouche backstory. Except it's not about Scaramouche as a character. It's about the Irminsul being able to rewrite history.

And then I stopped caring.

Despite Vyn being a psychologist, he still excels in medical studies. About 3 days ago, Vyn had invited you to have a picnic with him near the outskirts of Stellis city since you'd be able to see the towering skyscrapers from the distance. It's also near a beach which is why it's quite the tourist spot. Though unfortunately, your health had declined because of the countless files you had to settle in the lawfirm. You decided to give Vyn a call and tell him that you won't be able to go with him until you hear your doorbell ring. You summon every bit of your strength as you head downstairs to open the door. After you open the door, Vyn's calm expression changes into one mixed with shock and worry. He looks at your face as signs of weariness is witnessed in your eyes and the way that your ears and cheeks grow a tint of red made Vyn come to a conclusion. Even before you can talk, Vyn steps inside as he holds your wrist and sits you down the sofa. He leans in front of you as he puts the back of his hand to your forehead. The cold feeling emitting from Vyn's hand was very refreshing so you then close your eyes.

"Have you taken any medicine?" Vyn asks in a quiet tone. You nod your head gently as Vyn puts his hands on your shoulder and he slowly lays you down the sofa. He borrows your kitchen and makes a chicken soup for you. He feeds you the soup as you hold a cloth to your forehead. You tried to convince him to go back home but he insists on staying. "What if your condition worsens? Please allow me to take care of you." Remembering that Vyn is the only person closest to a doctor that you know, you didn't have any other choice but to submit to him and let him take care of you.

Marius— (this one is connected to the chapter 4 main story, Les tournesols)

The case of Van Kerrel was given to you to investigate and lead but for some reason, Marius also insisted in coming with you. You now both head to Van kerrel's Mansion to find extra evidence that might help you until you both bump into one of the potential suspects in the case, Johnny Bailey. You both put up the act of buying the estate to ease the trouble of having to go there by your own which might take longer since you don't know the way around the premises. As you see Johnny leave, you both release a sigh of relief as you find other evidence. As you both come to the conclusion that it really was Johnny's fault, Marius attempts to notify the police until a black smoke engulfs the mansion. Marius looks around to find a possible escape route and his eyes quickly land on the window just beside you both. He jumps down first and is now waiting for you to follow suit. You hesitate a bit as you then head over to the window—until someone pulls you back inside by the collar of your shirt. It was Johnny. Despite there being a chance where he'd get caught either by the police or the fire, he had to make sure that you'll go down with him. You let out a shriek followed by Marius' voice calling your name. The door of the room was slowly burning so you had to think fast. You inform Marius about what's happening and he attempts to jump back inside but still fails. The foundations of the room were slowly turning into dust. Johnny's maniacal laugh rings in your ear as a sharp sound then resonates in the room. Then something falls on you from above. Both you and Johnny were caught in the debris as Marius' cries grew more faint the longer you get stuck under it. You tried to keep things together and managed to get out and pull Johnny with you in the process Marius breathes a sigh of relief as he catches you and Johnny next. Marius gets you checked just in case you had any fatal injuries but to both fo your surprises, only a scratch and a few cuts were seen. Ever since then, he swears to look after you.

Artem —

The amount of work both you and Artem had to handle was too much. At least too much for 2 people to handle. Being Artem's partner in cases had lead to the realization that the man has so much work to do. You both flew to a foreign country to handle a fraud case which for some reason, took you both long. You had to travel around the said country since the opposition had many bases around the area. You couldn't even count how many files had you signed in one day nor could you have remembered when you last slept a full 8 hours. And now to your demise, your tiredness started to take a toll on your body weakening you. All throughout the day, you felt dizzy. Is it your legs givingup or the lack of sleep? You'll never know. Around afternoon, an intense headache had came to make your work harder. Now that your investigation was coming to a close, you head to Artem's room to deliver more finished works but as soon as you head out the door, your legs do numb. Your vision blurs and soon enough, your surroundings turn dark, the last things you heard was Artem calling your name and the sound of your body hitting the ground. A string of your consciousness was still present and you feel Artem carrying you. Although, you're not sure where he was taking you and after some time, your consciousness slips away slowly. You had no idea how much time had passed but as soon as you open your eyes, you see an unfamiliar looking ceiling and a slow beep. You scan your surroundings a bit and to your surprise, Artem has his head resting at your left side. He holds your left hand near his face as his hair seemed like a mess. His coat sitting on the ground had made you remember the recent accident. As you stayed deep in thought, Artem slowly wakes up and his eyes widen after he sees your eyes focused on him. He holds your hand and moves it closer to him. He makes sure that you're now feeling alright and then heads out after a few minutes probably to get some food for the two of you.

Luke —

You were sitting silently in your living room watching the television until you hear soft knocks coming from your door. A few seconds after, you hear a cheerful voice say "It's me! I came to visit you." As excitement washes throughout your body, you open the door to see the ever so bright Luke standing before you holding some chips on his left hand and a box full of cupcakes on his right. Later on, he tells you that he found an interesting movie and since he was also busy with customers in his antique shop and was also occupied with missions, he decided that it's better to buy a CD and watch it in your house which also saves a lot of money. You turn off the lights and pull the curtains down. You change to you comfortable pajamas and you take a seat together beside Luke on the sofa, though before it starts, you notice that the air was a bit cold and Luke also said that he'd cook some popcorn in your kitchen. So as he borrows your kitchen, you head upstairs to get a blanket big enough to cover the both of you. As you walk down the stairs, you step on the blanket and you slip. You let out a gasp as your body hits the ground. A loud noise was also heard from the kitchen and Luke quickly shows up beside you to helo you up. He insisted on taking you to the hospital even though you felt okay and the drop was low. You took your time to convince him until in the middle of your conversation, loud pops was heard in the kitchen. Turns out, Luke actually dropped the cover of the cooking pan and now, popcorn are invading your kitchen. You both stand up to get the cover and trap the popcorns but the pops kept surprising the both of you which lead to the popcorns getting all over the floor as you and Luke sits on the ground leaning on the wall laughing about the little incident.

summary: You should've known that when Ushijima Wakatoshi found it easy to fall in love with you, it might be even easier for him to fall out of it. But who expects the worst when it comes to loving someone as seemingly perfect as him, anyway?

He said it was easy to fall in love with you. He said he didn’t know when exactly, at which place, nor for what reason. Simply one day, Ushijima Wakatoshi found himself looking at you with the epiphany that maybe there’s something more meant to happen between you and him. There you stood before him that day, the person he could promise love to. (And there he stood before you that moment, the boy whose promises you found yourself believing in no matter what.)

So maybe that’s why it was even easier for him to fall out of love. When he told you he was no longer in love with you, it didn’t matter to you to ask when exactly, at which place, or for what reason. Even the universe itself is meant to fizzle out one day along with the death of the stars. Just one more person drifting away from you like a lone planet with no real orbit shouldn’t leave you broken. You are used to this. You won’t fall apart.

But you break anyway.

It was snowing outside when he decided to tell you to end things now before it hurts both of you even further. Not that the snow has anything to do with the coldness creeping up your chest threatening to spill out of you in endless sobs. You were glad, though. That at the very least, he remained honest with his feelings. He never left you guessing. Every time, he never forgets to tell you what’s on his mind. His honesty is something he thought was necessary.

“I understand, don’t worry. Thank you for telling me right away. I know you’re also considering me–” you tell him and choke up. There are tears running down your face but you’re not worried about that. Wakatoshi never let you mask your emotions around him. For the longest time, he reminded you to feel free to be completely bare with him. All the good and the bad, he said. Don’t be afraid to show them to me. I will always understand.

He steps closer and puts you between his arms. You feel his chin on top of your head as you lean your face into his chest. You’re sobbing now. “I’ll be fine, Toshi. We’ll be fine.”

He kisses the top of your head and lets you stay in his arms for minutes. “I loved you then, and I love you still. It’s just that they’re no longer the same kind. I will stay if you ask me to, okay? Anything you want.”

This only makes you cry harder. He’s always been too good. And even in breaking your heart, he’s too good. You want him to hold on. You want to ask him to stay with you for years and years. Even with a different kind of love, you’ll let him be as long he’s close by. But someone like him who has dreams beyond yourself shouldn’t ever be with someone like you who still lacks certainty toward anything.

“Just for tonight,” you ask, still crying. “Can I stay?”

“of course,” he replies. Anytime you want. Anything you want. It has always been this way.

Because humans are creatures of routines and familiarity, you spend that night the way you usually do when you’re at his place. You cook dinner with him and eat on the dining table, sharing stories and laughter. You keep adding food to his plate and he smiles as you giggle at everything you find funny.

It’s okay, it’s okay. You’ll be okay. You’ll be fine.

You clean the kitchen and stay in the living room. He leans on the couch as you lay down with your head on his lap. You keep talking and laughing. He goes along, sometimes adding things to make you laugh even more, sometimes simply agreeing, sometimes asking questions. You keep it loud and light, afraid of the silence. Inside you, it’s so heavy, your heart might just fall off. This will be the last, you tell yourself. You want to be happy for now. While he’s still here.

"Do me a favor, okay?" You tell him as you're nearing slumber. "Let me leave first tomorrow. Maybe stay in bed, maybe pretend you're asleep. But tomorrow, don't get out of the room until I've left the house." Your voice shakes, feeling yourself wanting to sob.

"I don't want to wake up to another empty bed but I don't want to see your face when I wake up too," you curl into him even further. "I'm sorry for being selfish. I'm sorry I still don't really know what to do. And I know you wake up pretty early and you know, do stuff, but just for tomorrow, please?"

Wakatoshi didn't really understand why. He originally planned on cooking breakfast for you and taking you to the train station. He would watch you board the train and he'd make sure to smile at you as he waves. You always waved back. That's how it works. Even after fights, and even after especially bad nights, you'd still do the same. Watching you leave with a smile was how you both knew you'd still be fine the days after. That nothing much can affect your relationship. For years, this has been the routine.

But tomorrow, he knows he has to give way. He knows what he said hurt you. It would be wrong of him to do what he wants simply because he's used to.

Tomorrow's the last, he realises. And then if you want, he'd never see you again.

You wake up pretty early. The sky is a calm shade of blue, the world outside still waking up. You check the time on your phone and find it's 6 AM. Last night, you slept with your back on him. The sight before you is the other end of his bedroom and you notice just how much of yourself you've managed to leave around his place. Pieces of just one other person in his life, scattered in places around his world pretending that’s just where they belong. You didn't mind leaving things behind back then. You never really thought of the day that you might’ve to take back all of them. Just how does one pick up parts of themselves when they thought they’ve finally found a place for them to stay?

But as you stand up, you conclude that when things end, traces shouldn’t be left behind. He didn’t decide to break up only to be reminded of you even after you’re no longer close to him. So you go and pick every little thing that's yours. Even your jacket and sweaters and a few pairs pyjamas in his closet. You'll just take his things from your place too and hand it to Tendou's shop. Coming back here won’t do you any good. Him coming to your place instead wouldn’t either.

Collecting all your things, even the ones you can't use anymore, you leave the bedroom and enter the living room. You don't have many belongings here aside from some DVDs and books. You only take the books and leave the rest for him. You've always preferred reading anyway.

Setting your bag and things aside on the sofa, you go ahead and wash yourself in the bathroom and bring your toothbrush and some other products with you when you're done. You then head to the kitchen to cook him something light to eat for breakfast . You knew you didn't have to. He knows how to cook. It has always been him cooking breakfast for you. When you could, you’d rather stay in bed until the very moment you must start preparing to go to uni or work. But you did anyway. He's probably in his bed, awake. He has never been a heavy sleeper. With all the moving you did around his room, he was bound to wake up if he wasn't already.

You make him a simple omelette and write a small message on top of it with ketchup. "Good luck with practice today!"

You've already cleaned everything you used, preferring to wash and set utensils as soon as you're done with them. That way, when you're sitting down to eat, there won't be any cluster around to distract you.

You put the ketchup down and decide that should be enough. You'll stop here. You should go now.

Ushijima is sitting on his bed. He's been awake since 5 AM when he usually goes on his run. It isn't the first time he chose to stay with you instead of going out, but he can't help but feel heavy this time. He stayed in for you. But as the minutes pass by, it seems that he simply cannot find the courage to sit up and face you.

He wants to sink into his bed.

There's knock on the door followed by sentences uttered softly. "Toshi, I'm going now. There's breakfast on the table. Make sure to eat before you go."

There goes the heavy feeling again. Maybe if this keeps up, he might just actually sink and never get back up.

You've done that a few times. Leaving while he's still in the room. You don't even open the door. You simply knock and tell him you're about to go, always reminding him to eat before he goes too.

But this will be the last, he thinks. If you leave now, will he never see you again?

Coroika Ghost Hunter AU??? (Still don't know what to name it)

This has horror elements to it, so be warned.

This all started normally, it was just a simple mission.

Then they meet an old poor sea urchin, who had nothing but a basket of food on their person.

Goggles although nice, is a bit reckless, and that includes money.

So you all can guess what happens next. Goggles get food and spend a good chunk of the money he has.

And in the basket are just a bunch of plain milk pie (custard tarts made with egg custard and condensed milk).

But it was either that or another dose of pickled plums so they take what they can.

Goggles went to thank the old urchin but they disappeared bc what cryptic figure doesn't?

Once they eat the tart, suddenly everything around them has a weird vibe to it. And Vintage swear to the heavens above (which is something he doesn't usually do) he saw some creepy figure in the distance.

(As any of you can guess, the pie is enchanted so now they can see ghosts and spirits)

Vintage never liked horror, even as a young child he's actually intimidated by Hireo-kun. But now he's intimidating, go figure.

So at night on their way home, Vintage couldn't sleep bc gut feeling. So he did the next best thing, cling to Skull, who is a light sleeper.

So the two agreed to do a quick night patrol, their sleep schedule are bad anyways.

They saw a creepy looking thing and pray that it didn't see them or followed them home.

(Spoilers: It did)

Once they got back to Octo Canyon, there's a multitude of malicious octarian ghosts that's out to get them. Unfortunately, neither of the Squid Sisters can see them and neither can Octavio.

"Kids gone senile perhaps."

So in Inkopolis, the same malicious spirit did follow them back and is looming over Aviators, oh no.

So Vintage plans a sleepover with the old team. "For old times sake ig." He says.

And they went to Omega's place bc Vintage doesn't want people to assume that he got them to smoke and Skull practically lives with Aviators at this point.

Night comes and the creature did found them and kidnaps Avi. They do any logical teen thing to do and that is go after them, with live late night text to the Squidbeak, the one w/o the idols.

The Octos are confused.

The duo got to an abandoned neighborhood in the rural parts of Inkopolis, Vintage (who's not a horror fan) is visibly shaking despite the straight face.

It's backed up further of his fear when he keeps typing in typos.

Goggles, through text: and here i rhougt my typos are bad

Then they found out that the malicious ghost guy steals eyes and they are FREAKING OUT.

And they do any normal teen behavior in horror, fight the damn thing.

And then angsty backstory ensue, they get alienated bc of their facial features, specifically eyes.

Skull, who is eyebrowless: .... Ow mood.

Next thing you know after the ghost is defeated and rests in peace, the sun rises and Avi woke up.

Avi, clueless: Hey guys, what happened?

"... Be glad you're a heavy sleeper."

And this is just the beginning...

???: *sighs* It can't be helped huh? Guess I have to protect him directly...

General Opinion over said character: he is my FAVORITE he is the BEST i love him,,, so so much. such a good little guy.

What do you see happening after Josh is being rescued? Does he meet everyone of his friend eventually or some of them keep their distance? I read one of your answers about them abandoning him and honestly I don't think they didn't care at all about him, but the events were so traumatic and scary that they probably had a hard time taking into consideration that small possibility of him being alive. Plus I guess it's also part of the smooth flow of the game if it makes sense, Mike doesn't go after Jess either after he sees her falling into the mines and accuses Josh of killing her without being 100% sure that she is dead and without seeing Josh around when shit happened to her. But if I were Josh maybe I would be upset knowing they didn't come for me at all. So how would a reunion go?

That’s valid! You can interpret the lack of an interest in rescuing Josh to multiple things—that they are very sure he’s dead, if you want to be as generous as possible to them. That they think he’s probably dead and are afraid of dying too more than willing to save him, that they’re (sans Chris) too mad about the prank he pulled, etc. And I can see why people would go for any number of them. I think to me it has always read like they think he is probably dead, and the whatever he has, 30%, 20% chance? Of still being alive just isn’t enough for them to feel motivated to face very likely death to go hunting for him, especially with flamethrower dude just dead doing the same. Which makes /me/ angry, because Mike went batshit after seeing Jess wounded and dragged through a window and more trying to save her, multiple characters can kill themselves trying to save the others in the finale, etc, and I just think if you /can/ save someone who is your friend—or like, you have a shot anyway—you don’t know it is too late. You should. (& true Jess can still be alive and Mike will assume she is dead, but in his defense, so do basically all blind playthroughs she looks like she falls four stories or something while already almost dead I can’t fault Mike for assuming that was a 100% death there. Boy really tried. Whereas Josh’s vanishing from the shed is much less confirmed. There is no ‘I watched him fall’ here. Just a neither he nor his dead body were still in the shed so /something/ happened). Like I do get it, that’s a terrifying situation and not helping doesn’t = not caring, but I will hold it against characters if they don’t risk themselves to save their friends and I will be unhappy with them. Loyalty is very important to me. But it is a truly terrifying situation.

But I also get why they’d be terrified to go out there. I don’t think it makes them evil to not want to risk it till they have to, it just makes me disappointed in them. I don’t think I said I think they didn’t care about him—typo if I did, because I certainly don’t think that at all! I think Chris was traumatized and felt very sure he was dead, Ashley didn’t care (she explicitly says she thinks he deserves it and tries to stop Chris from saving him the first time), Emily doesn’t care a lot one way or another and is mostly on her own trauma right now and thinking about Matt and the awful shit she saw, that Sam does care but thinks he is probably dead and is in team mom mode and cares more about trying to keep as many friends alive as possible right now than anything else and doesn’t want to lose the others, and Mike is still pissed but also feels very bad and would prefer for Josh to make it but is also more focused on group survival and not losing anyone else since he just lost someone he loves horribly (based largely on how his reaction to the safe room scenario is either to kill Emily and feel awful but do it because he very vocally and visibly doesn’t want the others to be killed and she won’t go peacefully, and he’s terrified of losing them, or to try but not be able to because he loves Emily, and instead give the gun to the others to try to save themselves with in the event she /does/ turn). And although he’s a right coward bastard for leaving Josh if Josh gets grabbed instead of killed, down in the mines, I do think he cared about Josh. He seems truly sorry to some extent when he finds him, and does /try/ to lead him out of the mines. At the point they make the decision to go for the cable car key, I don’t think they don’t care at all, except Ashley. I just think they should care more. Although I tend to give Chris a pass because he just watched a man get beheaded, has strong reason to think Josh is dead, is injured, and spends the entire rest of the game more or less in traumatized mode quiet in the corner.

But that said I can also see why people would interpret the reactions to mean they all believe he is very dead, and mean they’re going after his corpse! I can see lots of basis in-game to interpret in quite a number of ways. And be generous to the fool kids if you want to! I /super/ hold abandoning Josh in the mines wildly against Mike, but Mike is still one of my favorite characters in the whole game. I love how flawed the cast is and that you go in hating most of them and only slowly grow to care because you don’t want them dead-dead, which keeps you there long enough to see some of their good sides. *cheff’s kiss* the great ability of the horror genre. The bar to initially invest is so low, it lets you have such a multi-faceted cast.

Okay anyway, original question! What do I see happening after Josh gets rescued and exorcised.

I think he meets up with all of them again eventually. Interesting to think from Josh’s pov how he’s going to feel. I expect to some degree he does feel abandoned, and fairly, and in RoB it is very clear he is afraid to some extent of Mike and Chris after being dragged off and tied up and left in the shed, and the things they said to him. He also /definitely/ feels massively guilty and self-blaming about all of it. He’s telling himself through Hill that no one will come for him and it’s his own fault by the final chapter. And mostly he’s just afraid of Mike and in ptsd dissociating mode by the time Sam and Mike find him. So, mixed feelings on his part I expect. Lots of fear and pain and hurt at being abandoned and so universally believed capable of murder, hurt, left to die alone in the mines. Pretty damn betrayed, and that on top of the hurt from what happened to his sisters and the inherent paranoia of paranoid schizophrenia. Hurt that they just left him. Hurt they didn’t believe him. Hurt nobody came for him until it was too late. Hurt he got betrayed again. Probably pretty miserable overall. But with that, also feels really bad about going too far and hates and blames himself intensely for everything, and I expect is also kind of not just traumatized but ashamed of what happens to him, and everyone knowing about the possession and the cannibalism. Probably he wants to lock himself in a room in the corner of a big house and never come out. But also is intensely and miserably and hopelessly lonely. Probably feels all of his friendships are likely broken beyond repair.

I don’t think they are though. Chris “I’m not your bro” six seconds later “bro are you for real?” Hartley almost dies trying to save him and wouldn’t care about the possession stuff except to be worried about him. Sam is angry and harboring some resentment, but clearly reacts to Mike reporting he is gone with regret. Mike would probably feel very guilty for leaving him and be hesitant to reconnect and then defensive doing it, but I think he cares. Jess wasn’t even there for this shit so probably she does. Same for Matt maybe? Ashley and Emily are harder to guess for. I think Ashley would be incredibly angry and resentful—I mean she wants him dead in-game, but might eventually join the others if the others got over stuff? Bc she’s also kinda a joiner? Really it’s hard to say she is a very...hair-trigger character. Volatile and intensely and massively changeable. Probably the least predictable of all. That kind of person scares me deeply in real life because I have been very backstabbed by them before. >.> But anyway hard to say. Also a lot of this depends on what ending, even assuming they all live. But I usually assume that like, Mike almost shot Em, didn’t, Matt tried to save her, Sam saw the workshop, etc ending. Emily I really don’t know. She’s a very self-reliant and hard person. She didn’t have anything very specifically for or against Josh with her experience, but wasn’t that close to him before, so I think she just kinda falls wherever she falls.

I think mostly though that they’d reconnect. Definitely Chris would jump to it, and I think Sam would too—she’s a well educated, empathetic and understanding person. She’d know he needs her. And Chris is his childhood best friend and cares the whole game. I think Mike would try to go too because of guilt, and because he’s a decent guy. Probably so would after not much time those least effected by what Josh did. I think Josh would be alone while being exorcised and probably reocvering in a hospital some after, and Chris would be the first, or Chris and Sam possibly. I think he’d be afraid to see them, and it would be complicated and messy and painful for them all, but it would be okay and sort itself out and they’d find old ground quickly. And having them there would be /incredibly/ vital to helping him recover. I think eventually he’d get back on his feet, and a lot of his old friends would be around and stay in his life. I think things would get better. I’d say the OG ExorJosh comic writer I think did a good job of guessing about what a lot of it would be like. Hard, and slow, and messy. But a lot of them care for him, and I think that would matter enough to help things get okay between them again.

4 am roles around and here I make another observation/ theory. Warning there will be spoilers if you are reading the comics.

Rick J19 Z7 (aka doofus Rick)

Doofus Rick is... special to say the least, and on my previous reposts I see a lot of people also admire him. However, let's see what I can do with what the show, game, and comics can provide.

Lets establish that there are multiple versions of "doofus rick" all sharing appearances, all sharing a belittling name.

So assuming this, there are multiple versions of "doofus ricks" all which are made fun of and belittled by the other Ricks. However I'm going to focus on J19 Z7. Known under the name Doofus Rick.

First off, I'm going to assume a few things about Doofus Ricks:

They never had a family

They share similar backstories

They are all bullied

With this let's grapple the information we have.

In the show, Doofus Rick never married and never had any children, so his Morty was assigned to him from another reality. I assume the first point is applied.

Now in the comics of Rick and Morty, we look at, if I remember correctly, issue 10.

This "Doofus Rick" is not the Doofus rick we know in the show, but has a very similar relationship with a Jerry. This is Rick J19 APLHA-7. There is no "repeats" of Doofus as the very top picture shows that another "Doofus" look a like is named Dingbat Rick.

Jerry says that this Rick also has a Erick-stoltz-in-mask Morty. Which either means this alternate reality directly mimics the one in the show, or this is suppose to be Doofus Rick and there was a typo of some sort. I am inclined for the former. This Rick also said to Jerry that he was like the son he never had and stressed the word Heartbroken. I apply point 2 where doofus Ricks have similar backstories.

However, I am curious about A7 stressing heartbroken. This can validate that Doofus Ricks are more empathetic in nature, but I'm inclined that it's related to their back story. For a Rick who had no family to lose, had seemingly no emotional attachments to cling to, and has the ability to form or create a relationship, why did he stress heartbroken. If anything, by his choice of words, Doofus Rick's are the most emotionally incapable and only speak through general observations. But that's another 4 am theory for another time.

No I think, Rick A7 and subsequently Rick Z7, have truly felt heartbreak. Whether from a SO, friend, or a regret.

Going to Pocket Mortys, we go to the battle of Doofus Rick. When you defeat him in battle he replies as the pic shown above. He says he never wins anything. My presumptuous brain then ties to how in the comics, A7 stressed the word Heartbroken. Still applying point 2, I concluded that "Doofus Ricks" never had a family, because he lost his "Diane" or his wife. To who? Science. Remember in Rick's potion #9, Rick C-137 said "Listen, Morty, I hate to break it to you, but what people call "love" is a chemical reaction that compels animals to breed. It hits hard, Morty, then it slowly fades, leaving you stranded in a failing marriage. I did it, your parents are gonna do it. Break the cycle, Morty. Rise above. Focus on science."

What if Doofus Rick did exactly that? The reason he has no family, no beth, no morty is because he focused on science. That this decision to focus on science has left him heartbroken and full of regret. That when Doofus Rick says he never wins anything is because the alternate realities where he chose to marry and have a family, he is just as miserable.

Now jumping back to the Rick and Morty comics issues somewhere in the 20s, we appear in Doofus Rick's dimension (was later verified; will show through pics). This mini arc pissed me off because I really hate Jerry in this one, but it builds up to my argument. Doofus Rick Z7 is the "truest of Ricks" and he is depressed and suicidal. The latter point can actually apply to all Ricks of any universe, but when I read over Doofus Rick I always get an upbeat vibe to him (I may or may not have been listening to Bullet by Hollywood Undead on repeat). In this issue(s) Rick Z7 is constantly belittled, bullied, or otherwise.

In his own dimension he gets called a mushroom by his dimension's Jerry. Okay well Jerry Z7 is an ass, this makes him invalid. However, the Jerry we know also disregards Rick Z7 in favor of hearing out his alternate version of himself. Rick Z7's concern wasn't misplaced as Jerry Z7 pulls a gun on them. It's also known that the Citadel of Ricks don't favor Z7 as well.

Also previous to the gun encounter Rick warned Jerry to be quiet of transdemensional hopping, which normal Jerry disregards as well (although I do give fault to Rick Z7 for saying infront of him, but maybe that's another theory?).

Which leads to why I hate/love these comic issues:

God dammit, does my intensity of hate grows for Jerrys. I tried to give him a fair shot, but he is a constant disappointment. Anyways back to Doofus.

At this time, Doofus helps Jerry. But the advice Doofus gave to Jerry about life, really sounds like a cry for help.

"Life is unbeatable"

"Anyday you wake up and accepts its challenge you've won"

For some reason I feel compelled to ask Doofus if he's okay? If it's true that Doofus is more emotionally inclined, giving that advice to Jerry seems like he knows the struggle all too well. That he wakes up everyday and feels depressed wanting to off himself. Maybe he feels everything is too much. Maybe it's the constant bullying he faces, maybe the belittlement of others, maybe the knowledge that no matter if he picked family or science he is unhappy. Maybe that knowledge itself is why he's depressed. What if Rick J19 Z7 is the "Truest Rick"? Notice his dimension didn't know transdimensional travel. Doofus Rick found it by himself. He focused on science, saw his alternate selves, saw the crumbling family dynamics, the way he drunk himself to oblivion, and became toxic. He knew everything and didn't like what he found. He went to the citadel to find if there are more of him than his toxic versions of himself to find himself greatly outnumbered. Doofus Rick not only has the knowledge of the universe in his mind, but also has an empathetic nature due to his travels. And what do Rick's do best? Try to leave everything behind. He left back to his dimension hoping to find comfort, but the knowledge he possesses, the nihilistic outlook of life haunts him, that no matter what decision he picked, most versions of himself are doomed to suffer. That discovering transdimensional travel caused his suffering, but not discovering transdimensional travel caused his death. He is balancing on a tight rope to live or die. Doofus Rick knows, knows too much. As most versions of himself tends to drown their emotions through other vices, he embraces them, confronts them everyday.

Rick C137 has self proclaimed to be the Rickest of Ricks which funnily enough was relabeled as the weakest of Ricks in these issues until he killed Jerry Z7. Maybe to be the Rickest of Ricks mean he is the most incomplete.

Rick J19 Z7 may be his true opposite. Doofus Rick is the "un-Rickest Rick" bc he is the most complete version of Ricks.

The other version of Ricks may call him a Doofus for accepting this complete knowledge and living through all this pain. Hell they might be jealous that he can live such an upbeat life with this knowledge and bullies him for it because every Rick should suffer. However, Rick Z7 takes this in stride and accepts the bullying and comments because he wants to show the other versions of himself that it's going to be okay. If Doofus Rick can do it, then every version of himself could too. Jerry sated in the comics during this mini arc that Doofus Rick "You're so smart, but you dont make other people feel dumb". Doofus Rick's persona could very well be an attempt to unconsciously tap into the other versions of himself to accept this complete knowledge by playing to their egos.

However, this is just a theory.
