Ok this is completely out of left field but hear me out. A royal!au with Diluc where he's a little known lord in the capital, and you're a bachelor/ette being taken to every ball of the season and getting paraded around to secure a good match. Diluc is incredibly rich and known in his lands for his kindness, revered by his soldiers, but he never really cared for the theatrics of high society nearer the capital. He was too young before his dad died, and he ran off during what should have been his debutant year, so nobody really knows of him besides trading partners. He always supplies the nobles with fine wine and meat from his herds but declines every invitation to actually come and attend an event in the big cities.

Until one time his wait staff and close trading partners manage to convince him, and he agrees to go to just one ball because he's in the area for business and the networking is always useful. He's not up to date with the current trends but gets a suit tailored for him ahead of time. He hasn't read any of the famous writers of the moment but he's still a learned man who can talk philosophy with all the men twice his age, who are charmed and all too eager to throw their kids at him, hoping for a chance to bring their families together.

You're one of the debutants and have had to sit through a dozen introductions while your parents try to secure a good match. You're not rich or important enough to have your pick of husband, but you're not poor enough to be completely irrelevant. Of all the bachelors running around and trying to charm you with their knowledge of the latest plays and wars, only one catches your eye. It's hard to not notice him, honestly. Diluc is tall and broad but doesn't hold himself like a man of war, fiery hair tied back from a handsome, brooding face while he stands on the sidelines and talks to some older nobleman. You've never seen him before, and none of your friends seem to know him either. He's the lord of a smallish county near the border, and you recognise the name from their generous sponsorships and rich wines.

-He wouldn't know what to do at first, since I would probably be very quiet and chewing on my thumb/knuckles before he'd step in

-I would always cling to his arm/be behind him whenever we'd walk.

-He would never let me out of his sight or let go of him in a crowded area.

-If he saw me stress/vent regress, he'd try and be as gentle as possible with me.

-Ofc he'd slip up from time to time, accidentally yelling at me when he finds me after I wandered off, not because he's mad but because he's worried sick if I would hurt myself.

-When he sees the tears well up in my eyes, he realizes his mistake and lowers his voice, kneeling down and wiping the tears away.

-"You just... scared me for a second. I thought something bad happened to you, you know how this town is... I never meant to scare you, little angel, I'm so sorry... C'mon, let's go to my tavern. I can make you whatever you want, okay?"

-All in all, he's an amazing bubba n I love him so much for being so gentle. And after I come out of it, I'd wanna go right back in just so I can snuggle him some more :((((

-He's experienced with kids. Hell, he's been caring for Doppio since he can barely reach the countertop.

-Between work and running a mafia, he doesn't have time for any kids, let alone a regressed partner. Normally, he hands me off to Bruno and goes back to paperwork.

-When his schedule does clear up, however, he melts at the sight of me sitting on the floor playing with dolls in the playroom he built for me.

-When I came out to him about this, he didn't question it one bit. The man has a stand that can stop time and runs a damn mafia where a kid is literally named Orange, you really think he has room to judge? Man's seen it all.

-When he comes into the room, he covers my eyes and I giggle, feet kicking in the frilly cute socks he got me and I cling to him, nuzzling into his chest.

-And he sits on the floor with me, listening to my babbles through my decorated pacifer he got me as a gift after I came out as a regressor.

-"That sounds interesting, piccole pesche. Please, tell me more."

-He'd do my hair in little braids, calloused hands working through the short strands of bleach blonde hair as I construct nonsensical stories of pirates and princesses and dragons. And he listens.

-Diavolo always listens. From my Barbie movie infodumps to nonsense I concoct in my head because it sounds cool. And honestly? That's the best thing I can ask for in a papa. </3

-You wanna talk fun caregivers? This is the guy.

-He had. Zero idea what age regression was. Seriously, he tilted his head like a confused puppy (does it make more sense at a 45° angle bud????)

-When I explained it helps me process and get through my childhood trauma in a healthy manner, he was murderous. Like, quiet, scheming murderous.

-Obv I calmed him down and told him that it's a coping mechanism. And from that day, he swore to protect little Archie.

-The first time I regressed in front of him was when I was having flashbacks. He came home and saw me curled up in the middle of the bedroom floor, rocking and holding my head, hearing small whimpers escape my lips.

-Immediately, he knew what to do, taking me into his strong oni arms and patting my back in a rhythm, shushing me softly.

-"It's okay, little demon... It's okay, they ain't gonna hurt'cha anymore, alright? Y'er safe with me, it's okay..."

-After I calmed down, my throat refused to make a noise, and I started gesturing for a pacifier. He looked confused as he picked it up, a dingy little paci that's been overused and the designs have faded. He gives it to me anyway and tells me to wait here, giving me his jacket for comfort.

-He leaves for a few minutes and comes back, seeing that I'm still on the floor, curled up in his jacket with the old paci in my mouth. He then introduces new gear - a new sippy cup for when I want drinks, some onesies he found that are solid, soft pastel colors, and a new pacifier. One with a moon rabbit design.

-When I tell you I damn near cried at the level of gentleness and care this man displayed.

-Normally he's big and loud and flamboyant, but around me, when I'm in the mind of a four year old child, he's quieter, gentler, and makes himself appear not as Giant Inazuma Gang Member Itto, but as Bubby Itto, my protector and goofball caregiver.

-He'd poke my nose and tell me silly stories that make me giggle til my sides split. He'd make funny faces during peek-a-boo and smile at my reactions. And during the quieter times, he'd hold me in his lap, singing softly until I fell asleep.

-Itto is such an amazing cg, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

-Light green and yellow carpet, soft to the touch, with a pastel blue bed and gentle blue walls painted to look like a blue sky. I was ecstatic when I saw the room and he smiled. A gentle smile came over the pigman's face.

-During quieter times, he sits me on his lap and teaches me about stars and Greek heroes from years past. He reads stories of mighty dragons and brave (or stupid) heroes that go to fight her.

-When I'm playful and want his attention, him and I reenact those scenes from the books. Which normally ends in me crying because I genuinely think I killed him.

-Then, he magically comes back to life and picks me up, spinning me around in his arms before we fall in the snow, laughing as our breath appears in puffs in the cold.

-"Y'er makin' me soft, honeybee... Dunno what that's gonna do to my street cred, but at this point, I don't care. Y'er my lil' honeybee teachin' me about life again."

Thank you for your ask! For this I took the liberty of choosing headcanons and making the childhood crush something that was mutual but unknown to them both! This has angst in it and Kaeya being an absolute little shit so heads up! Also this started getting long and I had so many ideas for different ways this could go so I cut it off here for now! I feel like I could make a CYOA out of this probably!

Diluc Reuniting With A Childhood Sweetheart Headcanons

-When Diluc and Kaeya first met Y/N, they were all young teenagers. Y/N ended up with an instant little crush on Diluc and Diluc the same towards them. Neither of them could perceive this about the other though funnily enough.

-Both people told Kaeya in private and swore him to absolute secrecy, which he upheld on his end for many, many years. Even after his falling out with Diluc he still didn’t tell either of them their funny little mutual secret. 

-Throughout their first few years together the three were inseparable. They were all trusting of each other and each day was filled with adventure. Soon Diluc and Kaeya would join the knights of favonius and their time would be spent increasingly busier than before with little time to spend with the person they used to spend so much time with. Quickly Diluc rose in rank until he became the youngest cavalry captain of the order and he was proud of what he’d accomplished. 

-Diluc and Y/N still had crushes for each other and somehow they’d still failed to figure out the other felt the same way and neither had confessed out of fear of making things awkward with such a great friend.

-Diluc and Kaeya already took Y/N on horse rides before while they were younger, but now sometimes Diluc would use meeting them on their normal walking route on his horse as an excuse to be in close contact even if for a short while. After all, it’s much too easy to hold someone close when you only have a single horse to ride. Both would blush profusely but still never realized the other was since they weren’t facing each other.

-Unfortunately everything came to a screeching halt when master Crepus died. Y/N didn’t hear about it for a little while. They’d only hear about it after Diluc had already quit the knights, discarded his vision, and left without telling them anything. It hurt them both. 

-Y/N is unaware of Kaeya’s secret that he came clean to Diluc about on the night of Crepus’ death. They don’t know the two are no longer on good terms and they stay close friends with him and meet frequently all three of the years Diluc was gone for. Neither of them knew where he was or how he was doing.

-Kaeya doesn’t make a move on Y/N but they do end up drunkenly kissing a few times just to see what it feels like at some point. They end up crying on his shoulder and incoherently telling Kaeya how worried they are. Will they ever see Diluc again? Will he still treat them like before? What if he’s dead?

-While Diluc is gone he thinks of them daily. He feels terribly for leaving them so suddenly and doesn’t know how he’ll face them again once he’s back. It will be alright though. It’s not as though they feel the same about him as he does them, right?

-His return was unnoticed by Mondstadt. Y/N and Kaeya are caught completely off guard when they first see him. A flash of red hair coming out of the back room of Angel’s share. It couldn’t be, right?

-Y/N is shocked. They don’t know what to do in this moment and they’re speechless as Kaeya calls out to his estranged brother. He tells him that he shouldn’t just run off on someone like Y/N like that for so many years without even a hastily written note! 

-Diluc is mad. Kaeya has the nerve to stay so close to someone so important to him while he was gone? He surely can’t just be acting like nothing happened right? How infuriating can this man he used to call brother get?

-Kaeya can tell what’s going on in Diluc’s mind and decides to play a trick on him. A little gift for his own entertainment, honestly. 

-As Diluc walks over to talk to Y/N to apologize for leaving and being missing so long Kaeya gets up from where he’s sitting across from them.

-In full uninterrupted view of Diluc he leans over carefully to Y/N. He gently tips their chin up and plants a few seconds long romantic looking kiss on their lips, just to get on his brother’s nerves as much as he possibly can. He sighs softly as he pulls away and whispers, “please play along” in their ear before moving to leave the tavern. Louder this time so Diluc can hear he calls out, “I’ll see you soon, princess/prince/liege! Try not to miss me too much.” as he smirks in a winning fashion at the redhead that’s visibly angry and boiling over at this point towards Kaeya.

Diluc x gn!shy!reader – kissing you for the first time (HCs)

When it comes to relationship and romantic gestures in general, Diluc doesn’t really know what to do. He’s not particularly experienced when it comes to stuff like that, so it really takes him quite a while to realize that he wants to be more than just your friend. And even then, he’s quite hesitant to make a move, especially when he has no idea if you like him too.

He actually thinks that it’s ridiculous that something like a kiss can make him so nervous. Like, he never hesitates to risk his life for Mondstadt and doesn’t shy away from battles if they’re necessary to protect his homeland but actually being the one to kiss you first? Absolutely unimaginable, at least for quite a while.

The fact that you’re pretty shy yourself doesn’t make the whole situation easier. Diluc doesn’t want to pressure you in any way, so he takes his time to find out if you would be comfortable with him kissing you. He realizes that there’s not really a way to perfectly plan something like that but he still waits for the perfect moment, no matter how long it takes.

In the end, things don’t go as planned, obviously. The two of you are hanging around as usual, talking about your day, and Diluc just finds himself admiring the way your eyes light up as you’re telling him about something great that happened to you today. In that moment, you’re just so beautiful and mesmerizing that he simply has to lean in to press a soft kiss to your lips.

His cheeks are flaming red when he pulls away, and he immediately turns his head away to hide his blush. He might even start to apologize profusely because he feels like it wasn’t right to catch you off guard like that. It’s a pretty awkward situation, especially since you probably don’t say anything to stop his apologies, mostly because you are at loss for words for a few moments.

The best way to prove him that you don’t mind him making the first step is to initiate a second kiss but he definitely doesn’t expect that from you, given the fact that you’re just as shy as himself when it comes to things like that. However, after a while of awkward silence, he sheepishly asks if he could kiss you again because he’s already addicted to the feeling of your lips on his.
