#idk but this final episode really ruined the whole series for me

no but i found this one video commentary about the final episode and the parts where the tiktoker said "this whole series was basically a torture show for Boston because the writers don't like people like Boston" and "the last episode was just to make sure that we as the audience hate him as much as the writers hate him" and "the writers wanted us to hate Boston so much that they completely changed his narrative" and "my biggest problem was with how they wrote Boston" pretty much sum it all up for me

A rare post not about Iruma kun (yall im so stressed with finals and end of the semester, I haven’t even caught up with the newest chapters because I can’t focus on an on going story rn. Does that make sense? Sometimes when I’m stressed I can’t read or watch a story that hasn’t been finished yet. But I’ll be excited to finish then after the break.)
But anyway, I’m watching Tanaka is Always Listless and I’m enjoying it so far. Im almost done, only two episodes to go. I may make a an anime tier list soonish and this would go in B tier. Solid, not much happens (though it’s intentional) but cute characters. BUT what I don’t like is that Echizen is not canonically queer and in love with Miyano? (Spoilers for the anime going forward.) When she was first introduced, it’s subtly through Miyano. Miyano talks about her feelings on someone she’s in love with and that’s why she wants to be mature woman. And then later we meet Echizen and she’s like, idk why Miyano would want to be like you she’s perfect the way she is (to Tanaka). And then Miyano finally tells the characters (and the audience) that the person she loves is Echizen. And they both hug, fawn over each other, it’s adorable. So I was like, oh I love this cute relationship! What I liked was that it was simple but realistic. They just really like each other. And while not the main focus, the way it was addressed didn’t make a big deal out of it.
So this whole time I thought they were lesbians and dating afterwards. Just off screen. And we saw them separately or together since then and it only confirmed this for me since they often talked about the other. But then came episode 9 I think? Or 8? And Echizen thinks Ohta or Tanaka likes her. And she gets nervous about it. Which I was like, eh makes sense they are her two friends (?). And even after she gushes about it I was like, ok well they are both cute guys. Nothing wrong with feeling yourself and how attractive you are to have two people like you. Maybe she’s a bi queen. But then she starts imagining dating them and such and I was like… wait did I read the room wrong?? Because her and Miyano have so much chemistry and queer vibes for each other. They both want to impress or do/give cute things for each other. They always talk about the other. Overall, it’s super cute. So the crush on either boy felt so weird and out of place? I was really blindsided because I didn’t pick up on that energy (but then again I’m autistic so maybe I missed it?)
And now I’m in episode 10 and there’s the weird reminiscing about the past and Echizen being blushing and shy about Ohta and I’m just now realizing, oh no. It’s them giving the two main male characters a relationship. Because of course they must be dating someone, specifically a girl. Idk, kind of put me off and now I’m not liking it as much. It’s not that I think all stories need a queer couple (if only though) but it feels so weird to have it now when there hasn’t been a ton of scenes with them besides us knowing they are childhood friends.
Not to mention that I am just tired and annoyed with the trope that all leads must have a partner or romantic interest or potential romance (🙄) by the end of a show. Is this just me? But I see it over and over, the series feeling like it must have a lead character(s) date someone and I just don’t get it. Maybe this is the autism (the answer is always autism) or me being on the aromatic spectrum, but I don’t understand compulsorily romance. It feels like media is always so scared to just let a lead not date someone even at the expense of ruining a character, story, or even making sense. I don’t need the two leads to be dating someone, it’s fine if they don’t! I see this all the time (more so with girl or women main characters) and it’s so frustrating to see.
With all that being said, I know that the show is based on the manga and mangas typically can have more character depth, character lore, and stories than an anime adaptation. So maybe the couple makes more sense in the actual mangas. Just for me who only watched the anime, it’s so weird seeing her get paired with him when I didn’t get that feeling from her besides being embarrassed he knew her before she was “cool.” But I have two more episodes so maybe I was being to presumptuous? Or maybe they’ll find a way to explain it (idk how but it’s possible). So I may give more thoughts after I finish it. Idk, if y’all have read the manga do you recommend it and should I read it? Will it give me more context on the relationship between them? I’m not against the two dating, I just thought she was gay or wlw and liked her best friend. But if the manga can sell me of the ship, let me know and maybe I’ll read it (if , ya know, you don’t think the ending of the anime will make me think that by itself)

so, SHOULD I watch the Mindy project? you seem to love it and hate it in equal amounts, I can't really tell lol, would you actually recommend it? and if I did watch it where should I stop lol
Hahaha oh god this question. I will recommend it WITH a caveat. I love the first two seasons with my entire heart. I love the third season with like…3/4 of my heart. Or more accurately I love about 3/4 of the season lol. The fourth season belongs in hell except for like a handful of individual scenes and stuff I choose to take out of context. Idk what seasons 5 or 6 are like because I stopped watching about halfway through season 4 but the series finale was imo underwhelming and super rushed but sort of like “okay good enough I guess” bc they righted a wrong.
I honestly just recommend the first 3 seasons and then stop and pretend Hulu never picked it up after Fox canceled it. The third season ends in…not quite a cliffhanger, I’d say? I think it would’ve worked as an ending to the whole show and that’s where I stop when I rewatch. Sometimes I watch the first episode of season 4 because it’s still mostly good, though a few aspects annoy the shit out of me.
The thing you must know is that at some point in the 4th season the actor decided to leave as a star and just come back for guest appearances when his schedule allowed and the writers actually said OUT LOUD (or written lol I don’t remember how the interview was conducted) that they didn’t want fans to miss him, so they ON PURPOSE wrote him horribly. They knowingly ruined their own character. Absolutely mind-blowingly bad decision. Baffling. I’m flummoxed, to quote the assassinated character himself. How do you write 3 seasons of pretty incredible character development and purposefully tank it like that???? It still feels to me like it was petty and personal and they were mad at him for leaving because there were definitely other ways they could’ve handled it.
But anyway lol. The first two seasons are legit like the pinnacle of a romcom show with an incredible “will they/won’t they” ship that melted my brain from the premiere and still does over a decade later. And truly some of the hottest on-screen kisses of all time.
I’m editing to add for anyone who decides to watch, there is a lot of fatphobia. Like a LOT, even for a show from 2012. Including a guy in a fat suit for part of season 2. So be warned.

oooh i forgot to talk about hazbin hotel after i finished it.
loved it. satisfied the musical deep inside of me. the characters are so charming and its a really fun show expressing incredibly horrible stuff. if u think abt it even just a little past face value its really deep and sends u down into a rabbithole about what the characters are, what it really means to be a sinner, and how loopable the songs are.
my only complaint is that its so short. its 9 episodes including the pilot where every key moment is perfectly encapsulated in those episodes yes, but because they chose to develop the characters per episode (which was absolutely the right choice btw) the whole "friendship" theme suffered. let me explain; the characters are well developed enough and interact enough for you to get what their overall dynamic is, but theres no episode that really focuses on them getting closer with each other. the show was so busy, im not sure where they could have put it; basically im saying the show wouls have fared well with a little filler. in 8 episodes they breezed by 6 months... those interactions would have made the finale soo much better. i was not *convinced* of the found family trope thing (bc thats what it is you cant tell me otherwise), but its a good idea to let the audience fill those gaps themselves.
i have mixed feelings whether to support vivzie because i heard her treatment of animators was horrible-- thats the worst part about this whole series honestly. idk if vivzie is a good person or not... but hazbin hotel is definitely amazing.
EDIT HERE: i watched a video saying the accusations against vivzie are false so, thats out of the way, i guess. dont worry too much about it, im not gonna do more research but if any of you do pls lmk!
my favorite song is poison, apart from the fact that its the closest to my usual genre, i love the mv. the choreography is so fluid and unsettling. the little details, you can tell angel is putting on a mask and the voice acting? chefs kiss. love it. the mv is so r18 but i cant help rewatching it its just so good the choerography videography the subtle meanings RAH. i also love the instrument solos in hells greatest dad, it really surprised me when lucifer pulled a violin out of nowhere lmao but god do i hate that minty girl, ruined such a good song. stayed gone is also so strong and its funny to see vox put in his place lmao. im addicted to alastors radio filter, such character. i reluctantly love adam and lute's song parts because their voices are so good and i love rock music but fuck i hate the characters.
charlie is just so lovable and would be generic in literally any other setting but because of the nature of the show she sticks out and that forces readers to pay attention to her and if you didnt already love her you WILL.
not sure what else to say but if ur 18+ GO FOR IT!! lots of tw since its hell, off the top of my head sex, abuse, cursing, cannibalism, assault, violence. there must be more but itd be better to look that up instead. have fun watching!

....y'know what? watching the finale again, I've realised I am happy with pretty much every character's arc.
Even the Jamie & Roy fight, while SUPREMELY STUPID, at least resolved with them being equally stupid and trying to make Keeley choose between them, Keeley telling them they were stupid and kicking them out of her house, and then the three of them all being shown in, um, several shots towards the end of the episode that SCREAM throuple.
I love that Rebecca decided to sell 41% of shares to the fans and start a woman's team. I love that Nate came back (though I kinda wish he'd kept some of his inner strength, without the dickishness? I wish that was shown more?). I love that Rupert got his comeuppance. I love that Sharon comes back as the Richmond psychiatrist. I love that Roy became manager and Jamie was recognised as a truly incredible talent and an amazing team player with that last 'ooh ooh! pass to me! pass me the ball!' fake-out trick (you little GENIUS tart, you), and that Keeley keeps KJPR going without Alex's influence. I love that Leslie's young son is still entranced by boobs.
I just don't love Ted's ending.
It felt so... sad? And disappointing? And kinda... against the show's whole ethos of growth?
I suppose I can see it from the perspective of 'Ted needs to learn to confront his emotions, negative as well as positive, and that means returning to a place of trauma and facing the fact that his wife and son are playing house with the therapist who ruined his marriage'. I can understand that all that international travel was really rough on Henry, and Ted wanted to spare him that. I can even understand the appeal of a circular storytelling concept, where the main character returns back to the very place and situation he was trying to escape at the start. The Richmond team learned from Ted, and Ted learned from them. He's more resilient and better equipped to face what he left behind him in America.
But. BUT. I think we could've still had that! We could've had him telling Therapist Dude that what he did was seriously fucked up, and that it really hurt him, without cracking a single joke or smiling. We could've had Michelle acknowledge that. We could've had him visiting his father's grave, making peace with the past, having fun with his son....
AND THEN COMING BACK TO ENGLAND TO BE WITH HIS FOUND FAMILY EVENTUALLY
EVEN IF IT'S A YEAR LATER
WE COULD'VE HAD MICHELLE DUMPING THAT DOUCHEBAG'S ASS! I don't want her to get back together with Ted - Ted/Sassy and Ted/Trent for life - but her coming to England so Henry could be near his dad and coparenting with Ted isn't a completely out-of-this-world decision?
Idk that ending just left me so unsatisfied and sad about the idea of Ted returning to a country at once familiar and unfamiliar, with no support network. He's got a lot of work to do with unpacking the past, but the idea of that entirely cutting him off from a future with Richmond? No thanks.
And don't get me started on the last shot of the series. Him forcing a painful smile as he watches his son play football? Wtf? These weren't the feelings I signed up for. It's not that it's bad writing! In another series this would have been a WONDERFUL ending. But the tone feels entirely wrong for Ted Lasso, and as a result... I feel kinda cheated? hmm.

2022
2022 is over, what a weird and interesting year it has been for the BL world! 🤡
A lot of series, that I didn't expect anything special from turned out to be unexpectedly great for me. However, many series that I expected to be miracles turned out to be just avarage or even meh 🤷‍♀️
I haven't finished a lot of series. And to me that was the most surprising thing. Even those that I watched with some kind of interest, I just eventually... dropped or fastforwarded. Basically - after a week's break, I just didn't watch the next episode. This had rarely happened to me before 🤔 so I guess it’s a sign of something, idk (too many series? too many mediocre series that can’t keep my attention?). Anyway, I tumblr-watched many dramas, as in, I checked the gifs, read the reviews and that was enough...
So here’s my little summary:
✨Favorite, most rewatched BLs, a comfort food for my soul:
Semantic error
Oh! Boarding house
(and those started in 2022, if they maintain the same quality:
My School President, Never Let Me Go, The New Employee)
✨Very good series, but without high rewatching value:
My Secret Love
My Ride
Kabe Koji
About Youth
Eternal Yesterday (which, although subjectively ended badly, objectively kept the high quality until the end)
The above series started well, AND ended well. They just either maintained high quality from start to finish, or even their quality increased with each new episodes.
✨Shows that started well but either flopped, or clearly had no idea how to finish, or ended flat or did something really stupid in the finale that ruined the whole show for me:
Ghost Host, Ghost House - until the first half of the episode 7, it’s a 10/10 show, after that, this series doesn't exist for me, so angry with that one
The Miracle of Teddy Bear - I hate the finale SO MUCH, the rest of the episodes are 10/10, again, so angry with this one
Enchante had a chance to be a great show, what a waste..
Old Fashion Cupcake ended a bit anti-climactic, although otherwise the series is GREAT!
KinnPorsche - sort of? I mean, I LOVE Kinn and Porsche, but since the last few episodes kind of lost their focus on them, it stopped being that interesting..
✨2022 had another amazing thing, which was couples that had spectacular chemistry, or some great scenes together (quite often on shows that were otherwise weak plot-wise or simply boring for me, that I wouldn't normally watch, if not for that one couple). These definitely include:
Kevin and Pluem (GHGH) - who went beyond any scale in terms of naturalness in the relationship (which the show ignored in the end with a stupid, forced breakup)
Kinn and Porsche - forever the most beloved soft husbands, the best relationship on and off screen, Mile and Apo my beloved 💖💖💖💖
Jang Jae Young and Chu Sang Woo from Semantic Error, as well as ->
Moon Seol Won and Kim Ceol Soo from Oh! Boarding House - both couples prove, that Korea can also make a  BL, in which the guys are clearly into each other :)
Phayu and Rain from Oh! My Sunshine Night - in one show a couple I hate (sorry OhmFluke fans) and a couple that literally blew my mind
Nuea and Toh from Secret Crush - again, chemistry off the scale
Khoa and Dung with Mr. Cinderella - I love them for their naturalness and playfulness
Sky and Paitong from La Cuisine - had the same effect on me as Phayu and Rain, an unexpectedly hot couple in a very average series (their kiss in the car? woooooooow)
Dan and Yok from Not Me - my GOD but I was obsessed with them - until about the time they kissed for a first time, then their arc became so terribly stupid
Shogun and Maitoh (Why you..) - a very nice romance, Maitoh is gay from the start, which was a nice thing, also what I loved is that they ended up as a couple, I was so sure that Maitoh would end up with Shogun's rival "as a reward" for his long pinning
✨Untapped Romantic Potential - couples that could be:
Mon and Saint from Our Days
Porsche and Vegas - hehe, sorry guys but for me Vegas had more chemistry in the scenes with Porsche (or even with Kinn) than with Pete 🤷‍♀️
Kei and Yaku - they were a couple in every sense of the word - except being an actual couple
✨I can't resist writing who was the most pleasant for me to look at 😏:
Jang Jae Young (Semantic Error)
Nuea (Secret Crush)
Phayu (Oh! My Sunshine)
Kinn, Porsche and Vegas
Kei (KeixYaku)
Gun (My School President) that smile
Mork (My Ride) that dimple
Nekoyashiki (Kabe Koji) beautiful lips
Palm (Never Let Me Go) beautiful lips
Baek Eun Kyu (Tasty Florida)
✨It was also a year of some really nice kisses :) Can’t even chose which one I liked the best, but let’s say:
Nuea and Toh at the camp
Phayu and Rain on the beach
Kevin adn Pluem their fist kiss, Kevin sitting on Pluem ;)
Sky and Paitong - their one and only kiss
Kinn and Porsche - all their kisses, but especially bathroom scene kiss form ep 7, so emotional
all kisses from Semantic Error and Oh! Boarding House - there were just few of them, but all of them felt so right
Nuer and Syn at the club
✨And finally, my favorite yaoi to read:
Payback
Shutline
I probably forgot half of stuff I watched, but then again, 2022 did spoil us with a lot of BL series. I wish all of us, that 2023 will be even better in this matter and provide us with multiple new obsessions! 👨‍❤️‍👨👨‍❤️‍👨👨‍❤️‍👨💖💖💖 Here, have a cute boy as a good charm!

Looking back at TGaMM s2, while it’s pre-ending could’ve been stronger and the arc with the Chens could have used a bit more fleshing out, it’s FINAL episode was just about perfect and the stuff I loved from s1 was just as great as ever and as such, if this is the last we see of TGaMM, I’m pretty satisfied.
Anyway, outside of the s2 (series?) finale which I’d call a 10/10 episode and ending, here’s my top 10 in no particular order:
- A Doll to Die For: I’m a sucker for Lord Hater- I mean, Lord Doom. Really funny with good horror-comedy elements and a really sweet ending, has those s1 vibes of helping a character find their happiness and it’s just an easy one to rewatch for me.
- The (After)Life of the Party: Of course I’m gonna love the ep that gave us Jeoff - plus it’s just fun in its own right, and that song’s a bop.
- Faint of Art: VERY relatable as as a fellow creative, another great song, really good jokes and an incredibly sweet ending
- Dance Dad Revolution: Pretty sure I’m the only one who really likes this one, haha. I just found it really amusing, and even when he’s at his ‘worst’, Pete is still just super charming to me. The song in this one is one of my faves (was stuck in my head for the longest time), and I love that it was the Jeoffs and their genuine love for dancing that inadvertently ruined Scratch’s scheme in the end, lol.
- All Shark No Bite: just a fun time, ngl. I love GhostShark and I’m so happy he stuck around
- Davenport’s in Demise: really interesting spotlight for Andrea. Another great song, great lesson, fun jokes- and come on, of course I was gonna put the ep with the “soft rock personality” joke on here, haha
- Kenny’s Falling Star: Idk, I just really like the story in this one. Kenny’s actually a lot more endearing than I thought he would be, and both his songs are great.
- Frightmares on MainStreet: excluding the s2 finale, this was probably the best out of all the Half-Hour eps this season, as it never feels like it’s dragging nor does it ever feel rushed. It’s fun, sweet, exciting - really the only knock against it comes from how it’s ending now feels a bit hollow, given how rushed the rest of the Chens arc ended up being. (Also I’m still a bit annoyed that the Frightmares in the thermos never came back, either as a serious threat or as a solution to defeating another threat. Like- why bother having them in the Chens’ possession in the first place then?)
- Alakasham: a nice and entertaining episode that really highlights just how much Darryl has grown over the season, plus all the stuff with the magic was a ton of fun.
- FONAA: another ep that felt like a classic s1 romp with great jokes, great moments between Molly and Scratch, and a really sweet ending.
Outside of my faves of the season, I’d say pretty much all the other eps were also really good, only ever being just kinda meh at worst.
I’d say the only ones that stood out in a negative way were:
- (I know I’m gonna be in the unpopular minority on this one) Like Father, Like Libby: it just sorta felt like a One-Scene Wonder sort of ep given that you’re just spending the whole time waiting for the other shoe to drop, thus causing the rest of the ep to feel sorta boring and filler-y since it’s not super funny or interesting in the lead up to the Big Scene. I feel like it could've played better if we got more of Libby and Leah bonding instead of just Libby being only focused on her dad and Leah being worried.
Honestly, out of all the “Special Episodes” this season, it’s the one that feels the most like it instead of simply being an enjoyable ep that happens to have a Special Lesson (like Period Piece or 100% Molly McGee)
AND
- The Grand Gesture: not bad by any means, just overstuffed. It sucks that by the time we finally got a Darryl and June ep, it also had to be shared with a b-plot that felt like it took the majority of the ep. It also just wasn’t super funny outside of like two jokes and felt rushed by the end of it.
All in all, for as much as I loved this season for its episodic installments, it’s new characters (namely Jeff, Lord Doom and Ollie) and its songs, the fact that 2/3rds of the serialized stuff didn’t quite lead up to its potential in the end and fell a bit flat - plus a couple of sorta meh episodes - makes me want to say that I do think s1 is better by juuuuuust a little bit.
But hey, s2 is still incredibly solid and enjoyable - and again, DAMN, that was a super satisfying and really great ending both to Scratch’s personal arc and the show itself - which makes TGaMM a really good show overall in spite of some minor flaws and disappointments. Easily the best modern day Disney show imo right up there with Big City Greens.

what's your favorite kdramas?
FINALLY! SOMEONE'S ASKING THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS. I've been waiting for someone to ask me this, cause no one ever wants to listen to my kdrama rants lmao.
My ultimate forever number one kdrama is: Crash Landing On You I swear this is my Roman Empire. I'm not joking. I think I've watched this one like 6 times already. I can't get enough of the two main character (especially now that they are married in real life), but even the whole group dynamic I'm just in love with. I can't imagine someone watching this and not liking this serie, I just can't.
My Name Is also a kdrama I've watched like 3 times. Personally I find this one a bit underrated. It's really good but it also makes me depressed at the end so yeah. Usually when I rewatch it, I watch it till en certain scene and stop there.
Uncontrollably Fond Is THE Kdrama that made me want to watch more Kdrama (also.. Kim Woo Bin if you know what I mean, love that man to pieces and will watch anything that has him in it. So Black Knight was also pretty good but felt rushed in the end.) But this serie is definitely a rollercoaster of emotions. Also the relationship between the two.. idk it's cute at times but it's also toxic at times so yeah. But this one has a special place in my heart.
Our Beloved Summer Vincenzo Extraordinary Attorney Woo Twenty-Five Twenty-One (was so good until the end though. The end ruined it for me, but it still made the list so I guess...) Suspicious Partner (this one made the list just for the chemistry alone. That was insane. Like the whole behind the scenes of this serie is a whole ass kdrama as well. Also the compilation of that laugh and angry Chang-Wook is gold. Honestly I don't remember much of the story itself though... But I would watch this one again just for the chemistry.) I'm currently (and finally) watching Something in the Rain, and oh my god. I'm at episode 6 (I started yesterday evening... idk how this happened), and if the vibes stay like this, then it's gonna be an easy top 3 for me with this one. This genuinely makes me want to fall in love with someone. I suddenly have the NEED to fall in love with someone. And every time that damn song starts with "Sometimes it's hard to be a woman....-" it tickles my brain in the best kinda way, I just get butterflies from watching this serie. I hope it's not getting ruined, PLEASEEE.
Not Kdrama, but if you love Kdrama's, you have to watch Hidden Love, which is a Cdrama. Oh it's so adorable, and I'm glad they didn't make it weird about the age gap. It's a bit slow in the first few episodes but so worth it in my opinion.
I also have enough Korean movies and Japanese movies if you're interested in them too (currently mostly watching them for a school project, but hey.) Most of them are a bit of a different vibe from the kdrama series I watch (at least in my opinion.) Ryusuke Hamaguchi has to be my favorite film director, without a doubt. So I can make a part 2 but just for Japanese and Korean movies. I will gladly do it.

i just finished one dollar lawyer and like.......that wss it? like it ended like that? tbh idk what i was exepcting but it did feel rushed :( while they wrapped everything up i was still kind of waiting for something to happen like idk something didn't feel right and I'm not sure if it was the lack of comedy throughout (solving the whole JQ case dragged a little for me, i didn't care much for the villain since we've barely seen him but the actor was v charismatic lol) or because we didn't really get many fun moments between the leads anymore. i feel them rewriting things after reducing the episodes lead to them having to drop any significant character arcs in the final run bc i would've love to see esp more of mari minhyeok (what happened to him trying to woo her?) outside of them helping to solve jihun's case. that final scene with jihun was fun though!
it looks like the chances for a s2 are low though since there are rumors the reason they cut the series short was because of disputes the writer and production compay over the script. allegedly it started during ep 5/6 which is interesting if true bc that's where i felt the tone shift for the first time. https://www.allkpop.com/article/2022/11/the-popular-sbs-drama-one-dollar-lawyer-to-end-earlier-than-planned-due-to-internal-conflic
overall i still liked the show and will rlly miss the main trio!! + seo minhyeok he was a hidden gem of a character
they definitely rushed through the whole thing and there was a big tone shift as well. it just looked like they were trying to wrap the case up so they ommitted every silly little interaction between the trio or other characters that made the show fun. what happened to minhyeok wanting to marry mari. it also looked like they started something between minhyeok and the prosecutor lady. so many things were discarded in favor of trying to wrap up the big evil corporation plot and that makes me sad. they definitely didn't plan to cut the episodes, it looked like they filmed it up to ep 9-10 normally and they decided to shorten it so they rewrote the script and filmed the last episode. it's such a shame because the show as a whole was so fun and i enjoyed it so much but alas...the ending wasn't bad it just lacked so it didn't ruin the show thankfully. they would still benefit from doing a s2 tho

I've been loving Plus and Minus up until this episode idk I'm tired of the whole I have to break up with you for your own good trope and I thought the reason why he said was bullshit cause we all can tell he is still in love with him I get wanting drama and angst but between this and the who out of no where Nikita being in love with him (which I thought she was gay) but I felt this kinda ruined it
I get being sick of that drama. It's a very specific trope that a lot of people don't enjoy.
For me?
It works. It's such a cultural thing, that loyalty to family and that need to make parents proud and to live up to expectations and to put family above personal. That's the real crux of the issue. Ze Shou is acting the way we, in a more Western culture, would expect. He's putting his relationship with Li Gong above his relationship with his family.
But Li Gong is expressing that much more traditional East Asian cultural norm of putting the parents and immediate family unit above the romantic relationship. He is choosing the peace in Ze Shou's home for him and choosing his father for him because it's what is expected.
In this case, it's not specifically about being best for him, it's about those traditional values and their importance in terms of their relationship. Li Gong doesn't want to be in a relationship that's going to tear a family apart. It's not about what's best for Ze Shou, it's about what he can handle and how strongly he feels about this.
Yes, Li Gong is still in love with Ze Shou. But he's used to being sad alone, he's used to being in pain alone, he's used to pining alone. And he'd rather go back to that and keep Ze Shou as a friend and brother but see his family happy than stay as his lover and feel like he ruined a family that has so little.
Nikita did kind of come out of nowhere, no denials. And feels very... pointless. I'm not super mad because I'm fairly sure that Li Gong is going to tell her about what really happened this time. But I also see the point of it. It's specifically there for give Ze Shou the final nail in the coffin reason to get out. He still had the tiniest, tiniest shred of hope and now it's gone.
I still enjoy the show. There's always going to be some kind of stupid drama in a BL, they just can't help themselves, and at least this one makes sense with Li Gong as he is, the self-sacrificing young man who'd always put what he saw as the greater good for the most people above his own happiness.
I actually think that Li Gong is to be too late next week and Ze Shou is going to leave and he's going to have to deal with the fact that he brought this on himself and on both of them and Ze Shou is going to leave and it's gonna break us all because the tagline of the series has been about distance and we've never had any distance so I think we're gonna get a very Korean time skip of distance.
I hope I'm wrong.
But I'm worried.
Anyway.
I understand being tired of the trope and I admit that it feels a little pushed here but I also understand it as it happened in the show.

Stranger Things 4 thoughts (SPOILERS)
ALRIGHT! Now that I've finally finished the new season of Stranger Things (my family didn't want to cooperate at all) and I've had some time to process everything, I want to share my thoughts.
I have to be honest, I didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Sure there were a lot of exciting moments (like seeing papa alive), but some things felt.. forced? Or they didn't give much attention to them.
What I loved about season 3 was how great the Duffer Brothers were to have four-three different storylines AND making it work perfectly. None of the groups felt overlooked or overdone, it was the perfect balance between the characters, their emotions and their goasl and it was awesome to see how everything connects and how all the groups together can work with one another at the end. I haven't felt that with this season yet.
I guess that the groups maybe will meet up in the upside down, at least that's what I hope for tbh, but I haven't seen some build up for anything. Maybe they're saving the most important things for the last two episodes, idk.
Now let's talk about the groups. Imma start with everyone's favourite couple, Hopper and Joyce and of course our karate kid, Murray. Their plot was by far my favourite. It was so interesting to see Hopper in Russia, his hope slowly fading away, but then gaining it immediately back the moment his eyes landed on Joyce. Plus, her and Murray were so funny and so chaotic, I love them.
Now for Jonathan, Will, Mike and Argyle. I wanted to see more. It didn't feel like much, but I did enjoy their moments together. Argyle is super funny and Jonathan is adorable when he is high. Mike is well Mike and Will needs to accept himself and talk to Mike about his crush on him (also about them forgetting his birthday, yikes). I like how they kind of point out Mike's lost feelings for Eleven, idk if we will have an actual chance with Mike and Will, but I don't believe that mileven is going to last much longer. That or Mike has commitment issues, since he can't write I love you, because he did say it in season 3.
(Also, Suzie's house is a nuthouse.)
I guess it rans in the Wheeler family, because the Wheeler's this season have been confusing af. Nancy what is happening? Why is there unwanted tension between you and Steve. Why is everyone around them pushing the two together? We had a whole plot point about how Nancy and Jonathan are best for eachother and how much they cared for one another in season 3 despite their arguement and now what? We just going to throw all that away? I cannot tell you how excited I was to see those two combine forces together as friends, but they had to ruin that for us with shit that doesn't even make sense. Nancy deserves so much more than making her character fight between two boys.
What I got from this whole plot was that Nancy started seeing Steve in another light, because she's scared that Jonathan might be pulling away from her. Sure, writers have her be worried about that, but the answer here is communication, not cheating. Steve better make her remember the reason why they broke up, if they don't I'll hate everyone.
Moving on. Dustin is awesome as always. I love Lucas. We need more of Erica. Max has SERVED this season. Eddie is hilarious. Robin was nice (in some points a little annoying but I still love her). Steve is the love of my life (that scene with the bats had me on the floor). These new bullies annoy the living crap out of me. Plus, Eleven needs to have some peace for longer than a year for the love of god!
I'm not really sure how I feel about vecna.. yeah he's terrifying, but this humane approach to the upside down makes me fear that they will pull a riverdale and I'd hate to see that happening with one of my favourite series.
Overall I both liked and disliked this season for many and different reason, but I still have hope for the last two episodes. Sorry if this is too long, but thank you if you beared with my thoughts till the end!

S2 is actually my least favorite Season. What’s weird is I didn’t mind the love square in that one, like the scenes at the Roller Rink. To me, it showed why Sam and Robby as well as Miguel and Tory wouldn’t be able to last as a long term couple. But also why Miguel and Sam could. So, the love square stuff worked for me in S2. Plus, the School Fight is probably the best fight scene in the series so far. The things that ruined S2 for me were Kreese (mostly Johnny being foolish enough to trust him) and Stingray (who, to me, was a pointless character who took up too much screen time that should’ve been given to Tory, Aisha, or Demetri to further their arcs).
But I actually love S3 and S1. Every time I rewatch them, I find very few things to complain about. S1 is almost perfect. S3 is setup, like you said. But it’s done in pretty good way (to me, it was the execution of what followed that somewhat ruined it). I mean, the final two episodes of S3 in general are in my top 5 CK episodes. I mean, the way S3’s final scene plays out with the majority of friends who were separated/estranged from each other reuniting (along with Daniel and Johnny) was epic. The back half of S4 (in my opinion) just undoes all that in some of the worst ways possible.
I’m glad you could find some enjoyment in S2’s love square, but see, that exact reason is why it was so frustrating to me. Like…there was really no need to pair everyone off except for drama reasons, and then they threw in every iteration of misunderstanding and cheating, and they keep bringing it up!
And yeah, I do like the school fight, but it didn’t have to be triggered by love square drama. Hawk was furious at Demetri, he could’ve done it. And Tory starting that fight completely flies in the face of her whole “I have to stay out of trouble so I can take care of my mom and make sure I can retain custody of my brother” thing (then again, so does literally everything she does in s3 and the assault on Hawk in s4 💀)
I love s1 dearly, and I don’t mind s3 honestly. Stuff was happening, I’ll grant it that, there were stakes and some face-offs…but it really felt like a whole season talking about a tournament that should’ve been in 3x10 but wasn’t. Idk. It felt incomplete. (3x10 is still my favorite finale though, ironically 😂)

thoughts on 25x04 -blabbermouth/all grown up
okay, i think i’m finally ready to talk about this episode.
general note about season 25: i do think it was decent as a whole, though it wasn’t anything spectacular. the last episode was definitely the best of the season.
25x04a - blabbermouth
- arthur and the gang are throwing a welcome back party for muffy because she just returned from a trip to hawaii. i find it odd that rattles is at this party because i didn’t really think he and muffy were friends??
Tumblr media
- buster getting the messes on his shirt from the sandwich and hiding in the bushes is just...adorable lmao. we haven’t seen his sloppy habits come up in a while. i like to think it’s because he’s undergone some character development, especially after the events of episodes like “germaphobia”
- buster is upset because arthur hasn’t told him about the last four surprise parties, arthur lies and says he forgot to tell him. buster recognizes muffy’s cake, and says he saw arthur and his mom buy it
- side note: i just love that all these years, they’ve kept arthur’s habit of fiddling with his glasses when he’s fibbing, it’s so cute
- buster is just a mess lmao, that shirt is ruined shfkgl
- rattles is friends with maria too?? interesting
Tumblr media
- arthur tells buster that he blabbed about his underwear nightmares (ref to “arthur’s underwear”), his crush on his babysitter (sally, a ref to “crushed”), his fear of grotesquely grim bunny (”tales of grotesquely grim bunny” WOW, i was not expecting a reference to that episode), and his love for love ducks (ref to “that’s a baby show”)
- arthur goes on to say buster blabbed about the surprise parties for binky, fern and brain. so they had four surprise parties after that which arthur didn’t tell buster about, because he spoiled the first three
- buster asks arthur to tell him a secret, and later vents to brain about his concerns about arthur over ice cream, spilling the secret arthur told him in the process lol
-  “you’re learning to keep your mouth? why? is it going somewhere?” idk it made me laugh sdfhks
- and for what is probably the millionth time in the series, buster contemplates his friendship with arthur, wondering if he’s not “best friend material” anymore.
- BUSTER’S REACTION TO ARTHUR LYING TO HIM OHH NOOO
- “I didn’t trust you not to tell a real secret.” ARTHUR YOU LITERALLY MADE BUSTER CRY WHAT THE FUCK
- “I may have blabbed, arthur, but i have never lied to you.” THIS IS LITERALLY SOMETHING COUPLES WOULD ARGUE ABOUT
- this part fucked me up so much i’m literally making a separate post about it later
- then buster is venting to muffy about his problems with arthur, and muffy wants him to suck his thumb for likes on instagram - i mean pictogram dfhkd
- buster has muffy make a post calling people to the community garden so they can share his secrets with him and naturally no one shows up lmao. but george shares a secret with him because he feels bad for him, aww
- as a side note why does the garden look so dead? maybe a lot of the vegetables aren’t in season??
- ohhhh look how sad buster is when he realizes it was bad to share george’s secret 😭
Tumblr media
- i know there has been some discussion/theories of what george’s secret was. i agree with the idea that george told buster about a crush he has on someone, because that’s probably considered pretty serious at their ages. even muffy agreed that posting it would be going too far. it had to be something “embarrassing” and it certainly wasn’t anything sad or tragic, so that seems most likely.
- “i’m sorry i dragged you along. i don’t know why i needed you, but i did” “i’m glad i came!” PLS I’M CRYING THEY’RE SO CUTE
in summary: i’m not sure why everyone was saying “blabbermouth” is a bad episode, i’m probably just biased but i thought it was cute. i also think think an episode about this was warranted, buster’s literally had this habit since season 1 lmao.
25x04b - all grown up
- at the start of this episode, we see ms. turner talking to mrs. pariso, who we’ve only seen in a handful of episodes. we did see her in 25x02b “a cloudy day” and before that her last major appearance was in “arthur and the haunted treehouse”
- i am SO glad patrick made one final appearance in the last episode, even if he didn’t have a speaking role.
- of course buster takes like 4 free sample chocolates lmao
- CAPRI DI VAPIDA CAMEO???
- marc brown in the arthur finale is just perfect
- “mushrooms - as long as they’re chanterelles” oh muffy
- buster’s comment about muffy becoming a mail carrier sorta reminds me of “buster’s special delivery” where he volunteers to deliver the school mail lol
- cue muffy failing at delivering mail lol
- “you could be a politician” “i suppose i’d consider president” TYPICAL muffy...
- the aged up francine in her imagine spot is just....so not francine. i’m so glad it isn’t her actual aged up design lol
- OLD MAN SLINK HAD ME WHEEZING
- “my daddy is a boring old business person” “and he’s sooo good at it” loving this sarcasm from francine lmao
- the way everyone laughed when the game said buster would be a teacher 💀 💀 💀
- BUSTER TEACHING A CLASS FULL OF BRAINS RIP
- i didn’t know this, but the A-113 on the door is apparently a famous animation reference
- flash forward to 20 years later, where everyone is 28
- MICHAEL YARMUSH AS ADULT ARTHUR IS EVERYTHING. THAT WAS PERFECT. also, there were complaints about it, and it was memed on, but adult arthur’s design isn’t that bad to me?? the hair kind of took some getting used to, and i certainly never saw arthur growing a full head of a hair, but i kind of like it. part of me thinks it’s a wig tho lmao. i like to think arthur wears sweaters as an adult too, but his outfit does fit him in a way. regarding his career as a graphic novelist, that kind of came out of nowhere, but it works!
- i was NOT expecting that kind of a future for buster, but it does work when i consider it. he’s definitely a college professor, since he’s teaching a 20-21 year old kate. i’m glad they didn’t give buster a full head of hair, because that wouldn’t be fitting for him at all lmao. buster’s design really tells me that he’s going to go through a lot of change as an adult. i’ll probably make a follow up post on this later, but you have to have your phd or mfa to be a college professor for a fine arts class. these degrees take years to complete, so attaining that status in your late 20s is quite impressive. buster really buckled down and applied himself, so it must be something he really wanted to do.
- MUFFY AS A POLITICIAN IS ALSO PERFECT. END OF STORY. it’s funny because if you watch 05x6a “the election” it shows just how damn good muffy would be in politics lmao. also, her opponent is “mayor hirsch,” a ref to peter k. hirsch, the head writer of arthur. also her pantsuit is so fitting and classy, i love her hair. she and george were the only characters who looked about how i’d expected them to look.
- george’s design is pretty plain, but for him, it works! can i just say i LOVE how he turned the sugar bowl into a cafe? he didn’t change the name, “the sugar bowl” works for a dessert shop and a cafe, that’s so good. i pictured george going into something like woodworking or carpentry, but it’s possible he also does that on the side?
 - francine’s design garnered some controversy but i LOVE IT. her hair is amazing. her taste in fashion is superb. also she is LITERALLY a lesbian and don’t even try to tell me that’s not what they were going for with her design lol. i wasn’t expecting her to run a company that makes sneakers, but it does make sense given her love for sports!
- tbh i don’t know how to feel about binky becoming a weatherman?? that was probably what surprised me the most of all, but i guess 25x01a “binky wrestles with a story” was trying to foreshadow that? his hair and glasses are cute tho
- dw as a cop also got quite a bit of controversy lmao. i will say that i agree, it is fitting for her to go into law enforcement given her personality. also she’s actually voiced by a WOMAN for the first time in the series - nissae isen. it’s interesting how closely her voice resembles younger dw’s, they did really well with the casting for her
- bud in the finale, i guess i should’ve been expecting that lmao. AND HE TAKES OFF HIS HELMET (there’s a running joke in the fandom about bud taking off his hat, it’s been around for years lmao). his aged up design actually looks pretty decent?? it’s less lazy than i thought it would be
- I STARTED GETTING EMOTIONAL AGAIN WHEN I REALIZED MICHAEL YARMUSH AS ARTHUR IS THE FIRST AND LAST VOICE HEARD IN THE SERIES 😭
in summary: WHAT A WAY TO END THE SERIES. arthur becomes a graphic novelist, publishing his first graphic novel which is the entire arthur series, and he begins reading “arthur’s eyes” to the gang, creating an endless loop between the final episode and the first episode. kudos to the writers for coming up with something so ingenious, i never expected that. also, how the character’s relationships are left TOTALLY OPEN. that was so good for the fandom, so now we can ship what we want and make up our own fanon.
this may be an unpopular opinion but i’m not necessarily upset that other characters (brain, sue ellen, fern, etc.) didn’t appear. i like that they made the futures of some characters unknown. i will be making another post about my headcanons for adult arthur characters but yeah, i don’t really see it as a bad thing.
i do agree that it might’ve worked better as a special, but then they may have to talk about character relationships or other details like that. i thought it was nice how they just gave us a hint at the characters’ futures. it wasn’t perfect, of course. they could’ve opted for better animation too, since it was the final episode, but that was probably out of the question. overall, for what it was, the finale honestly turned out fan-fucking-tastic. i don’t really like to rate arthur episodes anymore, but the finale is a solid 10/10 😭
thank you to marc brown, greg bailey, peter k. hirsch, and everyone who worked on arthur. goodbye to a piece of my childhood that i will forever hold close in my heart 💗

7 Anti LO Asks
1. Do you know what really gets my blood boiling about this comic? Persephone and Demeter's relationship.
In the myths, Demeter and Persephone loved each other more than anything. Their reunion is so important - it marked the coming of spring and growth. A whole cult was dedicated to this for crying out loud. Yes, the myths were far from perfect, but the Persephone and Demeter myth showed the strength of a loving mother-daughter relationship with Demeter searching endlessly to find her child that was ripped away and had her innocence forcibly taken.
Now, RS is not the only author to make Demeter this over-bearing mother type in order to put more positivity onto the Hades-Persephone relationship. However, RS takes this trend to a whole new level - to the point where I would even consider it misogyny.
How is it, she takes this beautiful mother-daughter relationship and makes it out to be an abusive and controlling one, and then takes the Hades-Persephone relationship from a forceful one to a loving, perfect relationship with no problems? How is it ok to ruin one relationship to elevate another?
I understand that many versions of the myth try to downplay Hades' actions, and even make it so Persephone actually falls in love with him and there is no rape. But it doesn't change that this relationship was problematic, and meant to represent the loss of innocence.
Then fans have the gall to claim this comic is feminist and then claim on top of that that Demeter and Persephone's relationship was the same in the myth? These fans clearly don't know the myths, and neither does RS.
Making Hades a good person is fine. Changing it up a bit to make Persephone's loss of innocence something else is also fine. But ruining Demeter and Persephone's relationship? Especially when Persephone has to spend half the year with her? So horrible.
2. im sorry, but rachel cant introduce KRONOS coming back and then dropping it for several episodes to focus on a stake-less trail and persephone not knowing what lingerie to seduce hades in. like thats too much of an earth shaking development and huge stake plot point to just ignore for months to focus instead on something as minor as hxp's relationship, which only points out a huge flaw: why is hxp's relationship so minor in this? isnt the whole point supposed to be about them?
3. I think LO completely dropped the ball over Hades’ characterization.
From the first ep I thought ok, this is good, we have some bones to see he’s not that lucky in love and is just tired and lonely, and while ignoring the creepy actions towards Persephone, I thought ok, Artemis hates him, Hestia hates, even Ares hates him, maybe once Persephone finally sees the underworld and probably gets to know him it’ll be a clever twist and they’ll be proven wrong. The underworld will turn out to be fair and just, the citizens will love Hades, he’ll be revealed to be a good leader and king and not like his brothers, it’ll be like everyone saying Hades of myth isn’t actually that bad, and it’ll help reinforce why this sweet and bubbly Persephone wants him, she sees the real him, not the mean rumors and assumptions, this is perfect.
And then it just didn’t happen. The exact opposite happened, actually.
We’re shown the LO underworld is cruel and unjust, where the poor dead are forced into slavery and Hades created a harsh class divide with him and him only on top, the citizens hate him, the underworld gods don’t trust him and openly seem ok if he’s taken out of power, he’s not a good leader and king and doesn’t even want the job yet keeps it for his own ego and grip of power m, and on top of it all he is just like his brothers, if not worse. He loves to get violent over any little slight against him, he hoards wealth and resources to enrich himself while his citizens starve and struggle to survive, he’s corrupt, he controls all the media and laws to bend to his will, sleeps with his brothers wife for centuries behind his back while claiming to be holier than thou, he has sex with his secretaries who are made dependent on him for any way to survive, and now he lusts after his barely legal intern who is also now dependent on him for her way to survive, and that’s only what I remember off the top of my head.
LO perfectly set up to prove Hades isn’t the devil or the false pop culture assumption that he’s evil and to show some actual facts from myth, and yet Rachel only ended up reinforcing exactly that and even making him even worse with her made up ideas, all while thinking having Persephone ignore or excuse it somehow makes it not bad or even a good thing. It’s honestly kind of impressive just how bad of writing that actually is.
4. Chapter 172 is not that interesting. It’s setup had me excited to see Hephaestus and Hera and learning more about echo, but it’s cut so short. Because again the story can’t leave HXP out for 2 seconds.
I can also see why Zeus is gonna go insane.
5. i agree w/ other anon. LO should have pulled a PJO or a BoZ and just made up OCs and have them interact with the gods than whatever Rachel thinks shes doing, which is lying she's being accurate and faithful while completely changing all of it, removing what is needed, and adding what isnt so that it lines up with no actual myth besides like, various 50 shades fanfic she read in 2015 and some popular tumblr text posts.
6 . the animation studio behind blood of zeus literally can only draw one face for the men and one face for the women and they were still able to make the gods all look distinct and hot while LO can't even bother to use more than 6 colors and can only have the women look as tiny as possible with the biggest boobs while the men are all just lego men.
7. ////FP SPOILERS////
Okay so like I stopped reading LO way back before season 1 ended, and a majority of my knowledge of the series comes from what I read here on your blog which is enough for me lol and I decided to read the latest 5 chapters just to see what's up (on zahard. I refuse to give the actual series any views)
And I just. Could not take the whole scene with Daphne running from Apollo seriously? The anatomy and art inconsistency was so distracting that i genuinely could not find it serious. Even when Thanatos discovers her hibernated body I couldn't take it seriously because of how she looked?
And when Hades had that call (??? Was it a call? Or his inner dialogue? I couldn't really tell ngl) with Zeus and said he's causing Persephone unnecessary distress, and that she didn't pose any threat. B!tch??? She killed a ton of mortals??? She has no control over her powers???? She's literally a fugitive for the aforementioned things??? She apparently woke Kronos up? (Idk if anyone knows about that, again my knowledge only spans to whatever I read here) Hello????
And I have a lot to say about the chapters starting the trial but I'll only mention one thing; Hades saying "I don't think blindly supporting my little brother would be doing him any favours (as a ruler)" had me cackling. This is coming from a guy blindly supporting a girl he's literally only known for a few weeks, who's like what, only recently turned 20? Sit tf down Hades you're not cool, you creepy ass overgrown smurf.
Overall I still hate this series lmao. Regarding art though I feel like I wouldn't be so miffed about the anatomy much if the character designs were consistent and the story was compelling. They literally change hairstyles and body types frame by frame, and it's distracting.
The timeline from what I read here is laughable. 4 years in publication with almost 200 chapters and you're telling me only like a month has passed canonically. That's wild and such poor writing.
And as someone who literally will sympathise with any lead character pretty quickly, the story makes me hate them. It makes me want to root against them. I also hate the fact this trash is somehow top ranked on webtoons when so many other stories are far better then it.
Anyway, many thanks to this blog for existing and allowing me to dump so much text here to vent out my hate for this series lmao. You the mvp fam, hope you're having a good day 🥂🥂🥂

I have no one to talk to about this. But before I do. you keep appearing on my timeline. Mainly because I follow the PN 2 hashtag. So I followed you cuz seeing so many awesome art content : D
Right. Ok so-
I honestly think psychonauts. Would make a really neat tv show series. I mean. Fun characters, great stories, agent missions happening. maybe jr PN’s taking classes along side mini agent missions I’m guessing.
We could even know Otto mentalis’s backgrounds and maybe a episode where Raz or other interns/Jr PN’s got the curiously to their heads, messing around with ottos’s gagets and ending up done something to their minds. Then getting into trouble or something. We could even see a neat battle with the young Physic 6 fighting against Maliuga and more of its past. I had this idea, what lf Raz somehow got into the past and meeting the younger Physic 6. Maybe someone with unusual high powerful ‘time’ like powers. ..Idk who knows.
we could even see Lobotos kid? (lf it’s really the whole Bobby theory thing?) Even see some of the whispering rock kids or see more of Linda the lungfish. Raz practicing his Hypothesis, but having trouble controlling due to the reminder of Maligua along improving his power over time, learning new skills. Maybe episodes where Raz finally gets a holiday and continue to learn to swim with the family. The kid needs a break…
I’d love to see a unexpected twist in the end. Kinda like with gravity falls. Where some episodes connect to the twist kinda story. there’s so many opportunities you could do with PN’s lf it were a tv series. honestly probably the same animation as the game was? To not lose the PN’s kinda vibe lf you know what I mean. I’ve seen so many 3D animations kinda ruined. Story/quality etc. But anyway it’s probably likely not happen. But hey I can dream right? ..I’ll stop rambling now. Lol
first of all, thank you, I'm glad you enjoy my art 💖
secondly, oh man, a cartoon of psychonauts... if i start thinking abt it im gonna yearn for the rest of my life because this universe is really well suited for episodic storytelling
I'm inclined to say they might benefit from a different art style choice from sticking with the 3D, but that could be me remembering tak and the power of juju looking very weird.
but ALSO raz and all the others in some kind of 2D art style resembling scott c's work... possibly tweaked for ease of animation... ooooooogggh
You could devote so much time to so many things. it could be like a problem/monster/mind of the week deal. it could have longer story lines. oh I'm yearning. lets be wistful about something that can never reasonably happen together

who do you think will be on the throne at the end? is there a chance it will be a woman? do you agree with the theory that bran will be king in the north bc he symbolizes winterfell? idk if i see dany on the throne bc i don't feel like she belongs in westeros, i think she would be better off with a throne on the other side of the narrow sea but i really don't know what i'm saying
It’s very hard to make predictions for ADOS, because we don’t have TWOW yet. So much can change about the story and the characters in one book, thematically and narratively. Think of how much the plot was influenced by just that final Bran chapter in ADWD.
But, here I go anyway.
My short answer is: no one. (And no, I don’t mean Arya)
Let’s get into it.
Part 1: How the Show Tainted Everyone’s Brains
Obviously, a lot of people care about the Iron Throne plot. Sometimes too much. I do believe that this is mostly because of how much the HBO show changed everything about the story to make the Iron Throne seem like it was more important than anything else. Like promotional posters of all the actors each sitting on the throne, the name of the series itself being changed to “Game of Thrones”, actors getting asked in every interview “who do you think should get the Iron Throne?” as if it’s the last cupcake at a birthday party that everyone’s fighting over, the final episode was titled “The Iron Throne”. The marketing for everything was “it’s the fight for the Throne!” up through the eighth season. It made the object itself become a huge pop culture symbol.
It almost felt like the show was trying to make it seem like the goal of the Night King (a character not in the books) was to sit on the Iron Throne! The show portrayed it as if the Others were just a little distraction that needed to be dealt with so the characters could get back to arguing over the Porcupine Chair. However, in ASOIAF, it’s the exact opposite. The Porcupine Chair is what’s distracting the characters from the real conflict, the Others.
It’s almost comical how that has somewhat transferred over into the fandom, the “game of thrones” is what’s keeping everyone from focusing on what really matters, the “song of ice and fire”.
Part 2: GRRM’s Quote
It wasn't easy for me. I didn't want to give away my books. Every character has a different end. I told them who would be on the Iron Throne, and I told them some big twists like Hodor and "hold the door", and Stannis' decision to burn his daughter. We didn't get to everybody by any means.
-George R.R. Martin
So, he “told them who would be on the Iron Throne”. Something important about this quote is that he doesn’t say who. And, of course, the Iron Throne gets destroyed at the end of the show anyway. Show!Bran doesn’t really “end up on the Iron Throne”. Show!Dany does. George never said that who “ends up” on it in the books is who ends up on it in the show. He’s said that the Shireen thing and the Hodor thing will “happen very differently” in the books anyway. And, of course, another major part of that quote is “every character has a different end”.
I don’t think that who sits the Iron Throne last is necessarily going to be the ruler of Westeros at the end. For example, Cersei (or Aegon) may be the last person to sit the Iron Throne. Or even Euron (however, even though his goal is to rule post-apocalyptic Westeros as a god from the Iron Throne, I don’t think he’ll actually get there). If wildfire is hot enough to melt iron, I could see the throne being destroyed during whatever fiery shenanigans go down with Cersei and JonCon in TWOW. I think it would be fitting for the fight over the throne to end in the next book. ‘Cause the winds of winter are coming, baby, and it’s gonna be time to start dreaming of spring.
Part 3: The Weirwood King
The idea/theory of Bran becoming King has been around for a long time, long before the HBO show even started airing. This is because of the Celtic myth of King Brân the Blessed, whose name means “Blessed Crow” or “Blessed Raven” in Welsh. Other than the obvious connection with the name, Brân the Blessed’s story involves a magic cauldron that can bring the dead back to life.
In the myth, Brân’s head is cut off and continues talking (think of how Bran’s most powerful aspect is the magical powers of his mind), because in Celtic mythology the head is believed to be where the soul is.
Celts had a reputation as head hunters. According to Paul Jacobsthal, "Amongst the Celts the human head was venerated above all else, since the head was to the Celt the soul, centre of the emotions as well as of life itself, a symbol of divinity and of the powers of the otherworld." (source)
Catch that? “Otherworld”. There is another myth (Irish, specifically) called the Voyage of Bran, in which the title character goes on a quest to the Otherworld. The Otherworld is a supernatural realm in Celtic mythology. It is also where the sidhe (a.k.a. aos sí) live. Remember, the sidhe are what George has said the Others are inspired by. In Irish mythology, the Otherworld is called Tír na nÓg, Mag Mell and Emain Ablach, in Welsh mythology it’s called Annwn, and in Arthurian legend it’s called Avalon. Fun fact, “Avalon” was the title of the novel George was writing when he had suddenly had the idea of a scene in which a young boy and his brothers see a beheading and then find a litter of direwolf pups in the snow. And so ASOIAF happened.
I’ll leave that there, and try not to go down the great big rabbit-hole of Celtic (and other cultures) mythology connections in ASOIAF. The takeaway is: ASOIAF has been influenced by these myths.
I do believe that Bran is going to be King. Not just because of his ties to this mythology, but also because of symbolism in his own story. The most notable one being…
Under the hill, the broken boy sat upon a weirwood throne, listening to whispers in the dark as ravens walked up and down his arms.
[...]
The singers made Bran a throne of his own, like the one Lord Brynden sat, white weirwood flecked with red, dead branches woven through living roots.
[...]
His father and the black pool and the godswood faded and were gone and he was back in the cavern, the pale thick roots of his weirwood throne cradling his limbs as a mother does a child.
- Bran III, A Dance with Dragons
Bran is also the only one of the Stark kids who still thinks of himself as royalty:
What was he now? Only Bran the broken boy, Brandon of House Stark, prince of a lost kingdom, lord of a burned castle, heir to ruins.
- Bran III, A Dance with Dragons
Bran is the heir to Winterfell. It doesn’t matter if Robb named Jon his heir in his will, the will was written under the pretense that Bran and Rickon were dead.
However, Bran doesn’t have any connection to the Iron Throne. It’s far more likely that he would sit on a weirwood throne, because of, y’know, everything about his story. So, if Bran was King of the Seven Kingdoms, I don’t think it would be on the Pincushion Stool.
If Bran is king of the realm, I do think there would still be a separate Lord/Lady of Winterfell, but I do think that there’s a possibility of a Pevensie siblings ending, where all the Stark kids would rule together as the Lords and Ladies and Winterfell.
Something that I’ve never really seen talked about regarding the idea of Bran becoming King of the Seven Kingdoms is the religious differences between the North and the southern regions of Westeros. Of course, the show didn’t deal with this at all. For fuck’s sake, they had Cersei blow up the Westerosi verison of the Vatican and face no backlash. It was so laughably absurd how Show!Cersei’s destructive reign was shown to have like… zero impact on the Seven Kingdoms.
In short, I’m not too sure that the Kingdom who is majority Faith of the Seven worshippers would react too well to a weirwood-tree-Old-Gods-warg-wizard-king. I mean, when Janos Slynt finds out Jon is a warg he calls him a “thing”, a “creature”, and a “beastling that is not fit to live”, and wanted to execute him not just for being a turncloak but for being a warg as well. And Jojen warns Bran of these things, saying that his own folk may want to kill him if they know what he is.
But… all of that anti-magic attitude might not matter after night falls.
Part 4: Winter is Coming
I believe that the Long Night is going to be very devastating for the Seven Kingdoms.
Martin is a big believer in making things have meaningful, permanent consequences in his stories. I don’t think that an apocalyptic event like the Long Night is something that’s just gonna get dealt with in a quick snap and have no lasting effect.
A lot of people are going to die. I don’t mean main characters, I mean people that would not survive a normal winter and sure as hell won’t be prepared for this one. Westeros’s food stores have been severely depleted by the War of the Five Kings, and we’ve been told multiple times in the text (particularly AFFC and ADWD) that feeding people during this winter is going to be extremely hard.
Besides that… the whole, uh, invasion of the eldritch ice beings thing might have a bit of an impact on the realm.
I won’t go into depth about how the Seven Kingdoms will be affected by the Long Night, ‘cause we really have no idea. But, however it all goes down, I do think it will have lasting changes for the people of Westeros. The impact that it leaves may make the concept of Bran being a wizard-king more acceptable. “Oh, well we’ve just seen zombies and winter elves, so what’s too surprising about a magical greenseer warg king?” I think that Westerosi culture becoming more aware and accepting of the existence of magic is the only way that Bran could become the king of the whole realm. The Westeros at the end of the series is not going to be the place that it was at the beginning.
Part 5: Dany: A Home, Not a Throne
To sum up my thoughts on our dragon girl, I don’t think Dany will end up on the Spiky Toilet. I don’t want Dany to be on the Spiky Toilet.
Now, my personal speculation (which a lot of people disagree with, which is fine) is that Dany will never see King’s Landing before the Long Night. I personally don’t think that Dany will ever meet Aegon or Cersei. I don’t see there being enough time in the story for that. Yes, GRRM said that there will be a second Dance of the Dragons, but he also said that the second Dance does not have to involve Dany. He may have originally planned for it to be Aegon and Dany, but probably not once the Meereenese Knot happened.
The Meereenese Knot is what Dany’s ADWD plot is referred to as. GRRM did not intend for Dany to stay in Meereen as long as she has, but because of his “gardener” style of writing, that’s where the story led him. GRRM has said that one of the hardest parts of writing the Meereen plotline (which involves Dany, Barristan, Quentyn, Tyrion, and Victarion) is trying to find a way to cut the plot knot he accidentally got himself stuck in. He has said that Tyrion and Dany will meet towards the end of TWOW, which means that Dany will most likely be spending a large portion of her story with the Dothraki. That part is a completely blank page, but I believe that Dany will meet Tyrion possibly ¾ of the way into the book, and sail for Westeros at the end.
I won’t write a full meta about this here (because that’s not what this post is about), but to summarize my prediction: Aegon VS Cersei is going to be the battle in King’s Landing, a battle which will destroy the city. Dany (who has already rejected sailing for the Throne multiple times) will still be stuck in Essos, dealing with everything she’s still got going on, and will sail for Westeros at the end. Not for the Throne, but to go North for the real fight (remember that Marwyn is also on his way to Meereen to tell Dany that they need her).
Because Dany's purpose is not to fight for the Iron Throne, it’s to fight the Others. Dany (fire, light, and life) VS the Others (ice, darkness, and death) is the main thing the title refers to:
“Well of course the two outlying ones, the things that are going on north of the Wall and Daenerys Targaryen on the other continent with her dragons are of course the Ice and Fire of the title, the Song of Ice and Fire.”
- George R.R. Martin, 2016
One of the most important excerpts that shows us where Dany’s story is headed is this:
That night she dreamt that she was Rhaegar, riding to the Trident. But she was mounted on a dragon, not a horse. When she saw the Usurper's rebel host across the river they were armored all in ice, but she bathed them in dragonfire and they melted away like dew and turned the Trident into a torrent. Some small part of her knew that she was dreaming, but another part exulted. This is how it was meant to be. The other was a nightmare, and I have only now awakened.
- Daenerys III, A Storm a Swords
Dany has a short prophetic “this is what I was meant to do” dream. Dany could possibly have more dreams about the Others in TWOW, visions that will make what Marwyn has to tell her more believable. It’s not like that dream was the only one Dany has had that alludes to the winter threat, Dany has had visions about this since book one:
The red door was so far ahead of her, and she could feel the icy breath behind, sweeping up on her. If it caught her she would die a death that was more than death, howling forever alone in the darkness. She began to run.
- Dany IX, A Game of Thrones
Anyway, there’s just a lot more foreshadowing in the plot that this is what Dany is meant to do. I think adding in another conflict into her story once she leaves Meereen would make the story feel bloated and would severely fuck up the pacing.
I don’t think Dany will ever see the Iron Throne. The themes of her story have never been about her wanting the Iron Throne for what it is, but for what it represents to her. It represents the possibility of a home and of feeling safe for the first time in her life, what Dany truly wants. I think that it’s absolutely fine if Dany never sees the Throne or sits on it, and that it makes more sense for her narrative arc if she discovers that she can find a home somewhere else, not necessarily where she thought it would be.
Part 6: Final Thoughts
So, in conclusion, I don’t really give a shit who ends up placing their ass on the Forbidden Laz-E-Boy, I care about the War for the Dawn. I care about seeing the characters I’ve followed for the past five books coming together to fight the real conflict of A Song of Ice and Fire. Also, even if we do get a Scouring of the Shire-type post-climax for ASOIAF, it doesn’t matter. People don’t see the Scouring of the Shire as the climax of Lord of the Rings, they see the climax as Aragorn leading the forces of good against the forces of evil and Frodo and Sam throwing the One Ring into Mount Doom. Whatever ending resolution comes after the climax of ASOIAF, it doesn’t change what the climax is.
"Do you think your brother's war is more important than ours?" the old man barked.
Jon chewed his lip. The raven flapped its wings at him. "War, war, war, war," it sang.
"It's not," Mormont told him. "Gods save us, boy, you're not blind and you're not stupid. When dead men come hunting in the night, do you think it matters who sits the Iron Throne?"
"No." Jon had not thought of it that way.
- Jon IX, A Game of Thrones
TL;DR:
My prediction: Cersei will be the last person to sit the Iron Throne, which will be destroyed in the Wildfire of King’s Landing. After the Long Night devastates the Seven Kingdoms, Bran will become the King of this new Westeros that has been majorly affected by the return of magic. Also, it would be real nice if Dany found her red door.
God I hope my rambling made sense
