So both Ewald Alphonso and Gus Manger are misogynistic about Nia Morgna and they mock her about her fighting corruption and such. God no wonder Alphonso fuck up. His a bastard reformer, look privatizing all of Sordish economy and then bam recession. Look i know i hate the Old guard as a you. But this is the exception where they remove the dirt from the pristine table of Sordland presidency. Which is good for the people. But anyway who i feel bad for Pabel god he being reminded on his Palace's position. I hate this version of King Romus Toras. Also i advise you to be on the lookout on your daughter. She might do some "shenanigans"
Tumblr media
THEY NEED TO GET AWAY FROM HER I'M SO SERIOUS. I WILL SHOW THEM NO MERCY (okay, but oh my god that mention made me SCREAM, i was not expecting that at all! my girlllllll!).
man, sordland kinda had it rough before our friend anton came around. alphonso's economic measures remind me of that meme, 'well, my job here is done!' 'but you didn't do anything!' '[cape woosh, RECESSION]'.
GOD being mean to pabel is hell on earth, i hate this lmao. like, at the very least don't be a fucking DICK to your EMPLOYEE, but no! and oh, i wish vina gets into some shenanigans, lord knows she fucking deserves it! she can't be on the council, she gets her malenyevist texts confiscated, AND she's probably gonna be pressured to marry her cousin (or first cousin once removed WHO CARES). i'd say she deserves to fucking kill her dad, but i digress...

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Seekers of Soul
[Chapter 26] (29 Pages)
<< First | < Previous | Next >
The trio recuperates, and Nia discovers that her aura has changed.
TW: Panic Attack
-
Nia wakes up slowly, a heavy fog of exhaustion making her thoughts feel thick and syrupy. She’s warm and comfy, so she shifts in her bed and considers going back to sleep as she stretches her legs—only to wince when the motion pulls painfully at her skin.
Nia squints her eyes open against bright sunlight, lifting her head to blink down at her body, where bandages are wrapped around her limbs. Shiny patches of ointment with a sharp medicinal tang peek out from under the bandages and slick down her fur. Oh jeez, she really got banged up. No wonder stretching hurt.
Nia slowly shifts in her nest to get a better look around the room. It’s…pleasant. Warm, neutral tones and wooden floors. Large windows with shades pulled halfway down, leaving rectangular patches of sunlight slanting across the small space. Plants are potted around the room, offering a splash of color, and little cabinets are installed into one side of the room. She’s alone, lying in a too-large nest.
Then the door creaks open, and Nia looks over to see a familiar little ball of feathers squeezing through the gap.
“Junie!”
Junie jumps, wide eyes snapping up to Nia. “Nia! You’re awake!”
The rookidee hops awkwardly to Nia’s side, and Nia tries to sit up from her nest. She immediately regrets it, groaning from the painful pull at her burns and the ache in her ribs, not to mention the way her head spins nauseously. Her throat feels strained, and she can’t hold back a sudden coughing fit that burns her throat and lungs.
Right, the fire. She must have inhaled a lot of smoke.
“Whoa! Slow your roll, chickadee!” Junie flutters closer and guides her to back into the nest until she’s lying down again.
Nia slowly manages to control her hacking fit, but her body aches even more terribly than when she’d woken up. Ow.
“Are you okay?” Nia finally manages to croak.
Junie blinks at her. “I should be asking you that! You’re the one who’s been out the longest!”
Nia stares back at the little bird, brow furrowed as memories of the fire slowly trickle back into her mind. The building was coming down, and Junie was still trapped inside so Nia went in after her. There was so much fire, surrounding her in choking heat and ash. Then there was that debris she couldn’t move to free Junie, the wave of dizzying, wrenching despair falling over her, making her feel hopeless…
She’d been so sure they were going to die.
Nia rubs at her eyes and takes a few deep breaths. Well, clearly they made it somehow. She feels lightheaded with relief. Or maybe just lightheaded in general. Tobias would—
Tobias, running towards them through the fire, panic on his face. His gaze flicks up, and Nia follows it, her heart dropping as she sees the ceiling above them crumble—
“Tobias! Is he okay?!” Nia gasps.
“Yup!” Junie chirps. “A bit banged up, a few broken fingers, but otherwise grumpy as usual!”
Nia has to stop herself from bolting upright in her nest. “A few broken fingers?!”
Junie waves her off with a wing. “Just fractured. He says he’ll be fine in a couple days.”
Nia doesn’t point out that the charmander is probably lying to put up a tough front, instead trying to calm her pounding heartbeat. He’s alive, at least. And relatively okay. Nia catches sight of Junie’s leg, wrapped up tight in a cast and sticking out awkwardly, and her stomach sinks. She wishes they were all doing better than just ‘okay.’
The rookidee follows her gaze and laughs. “Don’t look so upset! I’d be a lot worse off if not for you!”
Nia meets Junie’s eyes, frowning. The action pulls at a burn on her face. “What do you mean?”
Junie pauses, tilting her head. “You don’t remember? I got trapped in the rubble and you refused to leave me—which was stupid, by the way—and the ceiling came down on us.”
Nia shivers, once again thinking of the wave of crushing stone bearing down on them. The overwhelming instinct to protect as she threw herself over Junie, and then—
Nothing.
“Nia?”
Nia realizes she’s not breathing, sore fingers trembling and clutching at her legs. She swallows and tries to shove away the lingering fear.
“How did we make it out of there?” Nia rasps. She knows Pokémon are durable, but she thinks even they shouldn’t have survived that much force crushing them. Junie especially, delicate, hollow-boned thing that she is.
“You saved us!” Junie chirps, hopping stiltedly in front of Nia to make eye contact.
Nia leans back. “Me?”
“Yeah! When you covered me, I saw this bright flash of blue, like fwahhh!” She spreads her wings. “I passed out after that, but Toby saw it too! We think it looked like your aura.”
“My aura?” Nia echoes, a hand drifting to her chest.
She couldn’t have done that. All she’s been able to do is channel her aura through her body and make little semi-solid forms in her hand, and she even sucks at that. She’s never been able to spread it out or project it away from her body, and she’s certainly never made it strong enough to stop something as heavy as that stone ceiling.
Junie just shrugs. “You should ask Toby. He seems to know more about it.”
“Where is Tobias?” Nia asks, looking around.
“I made him go get us some actual grub, since I’m tired of hospital food and can’t carry anything on my own. Oh, he’s going to be so mad when he sees you woke up without him!” Junie laughs, not sounding at all concerned about the charmander’s fury. “He’s been really worried!”
At that, Nia suddenly wonders if she really did die in that fire. Tobias? Worried about her? Sure, he’s made sure she didn’t get left behind in dungeons and he’s been trying hard to be patient with her, but she finds it difficult to believe he’d be openly concerned over her once she was in the clear from dying.
“Don’t look so surprised!” Junie says, somehow managing to smirk even with a beak. “It’s adorable, actually. He’s been pretty much glued to your side. Even sleeps next to you.”
Nia blinks, flustered heat rising up under her fur. Junie has to be joking. But then she casts her gaze to the side, realizing that she’s not in a single too-large nest--instead, her own nest seems to bleed into another one about the same size. Her nose is still raw from the smoke, but she can smell the familiar sun-baked stone scent of Tobias lingering on the straw.
“I knew he cared about you!” Junie chirps, hopping again to settle next to Nia’s head, looking comfortable enough that Nia guesses the rookidee has also been sleeping here.
Nia thinks again about how genuinely terrified Tobias looked in that split-second they’d made eye contact in the fire.
“Did Tobias pull us out?” Nia asks, not wanting to strain her throat but too curious not to know.
“Mhm. Dug through the rubble to find us and tried to carry us out.”
“Tried?”
Junie shifts, a note of unease in her voice. “Well...he asked me to fly, but I…I couldn’t. So he tried to carry us. But I guess he passed out? Another rescuer must’ve found us in time.”
Nia’s gut twists uncomfortably. She wishes Tobias were here so she could look him over herself, make sure that he’s really okay and not just lying to the doctors or something.
He really did all of that for them? Dug through the rubble to find them, tried to carry them to safety? Has been worrying about her, been voluntarily sleeping by her? Nia can hardly believe it. She wonders if it’s strange that she finds him risking his life to save theirs more believable than him willingly watching over her and worrying for her well-being. Probably not. The charmander’s a grump, but he takes his responsibilities as a Seeker seriously.
Nia stares thoughtfully at the nest beside her, slowly settling back down into her own. Junie resumes her chatter, saying something about them being moved to this room by themselves once Nia was stable enough. Nia hums at the appropriate times, trying to listen even though she feels fatigue creep up on her again, making her eyes heavy. She’s just so tired.
Nia doesn’t know when she crosses the line between thought and dozing, but she wakes up to the smell of delicious, savory food. Well, that and a hushed, heated conversation.
“What do you mean she woke up?!” Tobias hisses.
“She woke up! Must’ve been waiting for you to leave.” Junie teases.
The following growl, quiet and threatening, means Nia needs to wake up and play peacekeeper. She grumbles, “You two are impossible.”
The arguing stops, and Nia slowly pushes herself up onto her arms, remembering how painful it was to sit up last time. She yawns and squints at the late-afternoon sunlight pouring into the room.
Junie is grinning, and Tobias is watching her with an unreadable expression. Nia offers the two of them a smile that she hopes isn’t as strained as she feels. She doesn’t realize how tense Tobias is until he relaxes, shoulders slumping and face softening. Oh.
Maybe he really was worried.
“So what’d you bring? Something good, I hope!” Junie chirps, pecking at the boxes of food at Tobias’ side. He bares his teeth and snatches them out of her reach.
“Who says I got you anything?”
“Me! Because I’m the one who suggested it! And I almost died!”
“You’re gonna wish you did if you don’t back off,” Tobias growls.
“Oh, please, like you’d kill me in front of Nia.” Junie huffs.
“You wanna try me?”
“Do it, coward! You won’t!”
Nia laughs. She can’t help it. She’s just so relieved they’re all relatively okay, so she laughs, even if it hurts, and she can’t seem to stop laughing, leaning forward to hold her stomach. When she finally starts to get a hold of herself, she wipes tears from her eyes and sits up to see Junie and Tobias both staring at her. Oh no. Another burst of giggles bubble from her chest, and this time when she laughs, Junie joins in. Tobias doesn’t, but he does look like he’s fighting off a smile, rolling his eyes.
Nia holds out her hands and makes a grabby motion. “J-Just give me the dang food. Clearly you two can’t be trusted to share nicely.”
Tobias huffs but hands over the tasty-smelling boxes. Nia lays them out in the nest and opens them, feeling her stomach growl at the sight. Some kind of rice in one box, and vegetables in another, swimming in a deep brown sauce with chunks of something that looks startlingly like meat but must be a vegetarian version, like the hot dogs they’d had.
“Oh! Hang on! I saw the nurse restock earlier.” Junie flutters into the air, wobbling as her cast throws her off-balance, and then goes to one of the room’s cabinets, opening it and pulling at something inside with her beak.
Tobias leaps up and hurries to her side, hissing, “You’re gonna drop ‘em! Stop!”
The two wrestle over what turn out to be plates and utensils, eventually making it back to the nest without dropping them so they can each scoop some food onto their own dish. Nia digs in, practically drooling over the flavor, and watches Tobias and Junie do the same, feeling some sort of peace and normalcy wash over them. Well, as normal as they can get when Nia’s aching all over, Junie can’t seem to get settled with her broken leg, and Tobias keeps dropping his fork due to his bandaged fingers.
Between bites Nia manages to ask, “How long was I out?”
“Two weeks!” Junie chirps, whipping her rice-covered face up to give Nia a despairing, wide-eyed look.
Nia’s heart drops.
Tobias snorts and rolls his eyes. “Stop messing with her. She’s gullible enough when she isn’t injured.”
Oh. As Junie sticks her tongue out at Tobias, Nia hurriedly shovels more food into her mouth, fighting down her embarrassment for falling for that.
“The actual answer is about two days,” Tobias says.
Nia cautiously lowers her food, brow furrowing. “Two days? B-But how are we affording that?”
Tobias’ expression twists. “What?”
“The hospital,” Nia presses, waving a hand at the room around them. “We barely had enough money to come to Ghatha and back, so…”
Tobias blinks at her, looking dumbfounded. “Hospitals cost like...nothing? Especially after an emergency.”
“Oh.” Nia blinks back at him.
“Are you telling me humans charge you to get healed when you’re hurt?” Tobias asks, looking genuinely offended. “Like, enough that you were worried about it?”
Nia looks down at Junie for help, but the little bird just chirps a smug sound before returning to her food. “Don’t look at me. I wasn’t American.”
Ah. Nia didn’t really register that she was until this moment, but it makes sense from what knowledge she does know. It doesn’t really feel like a surprise.
“Where were you from, then?” Nia asks curiously, ignoring the bewildered look Tobias gives the two of them for not elaborating on the whole Hello yes pay us to save your life thing.
“Germany!” Junie chirps proudly. “Gotta say, since you’re American I’m kind of surprised you’re fluent in German.”
Nia stares at the rookidee. “I’m not. I only know English.”
Junie freezes mid-bite, then slowly turns to stare back. “…What language are you speaking right now?”
“English,” Nia repeats, voice a notch higher.
“I’m hearing you in perfect German so please tell me how that’s possible.”
“German?” Tobias speaks up.
Nia and Junie both turn to him, equally wide-eyed.
“T-Tobias,” Nia starts, swallowing hard. “What language are you speaking right now?”
The charmander looks completely thrown. “Uh. Ordirune? Like you two?”
Nia suddenly remembers her near mental breakdown that first day in the library, when she realized she was fluently reading a language she didn’t know. It makes sense that the same thing has been happening with speech.
Doesn’t mean it’s not freaking her out.
“O-Okay. Okay. Uh. I totally forgot to bring this up at the human convention. Junie, do you—?”
The rookidee has gone back to her food, burying her face in her rice. Her voice is muffled and hard to understand when she says, “I’m willing to act like nothing’s weird about this if you are.”
Nia’s curiosity is dying, but on top of everything else she’s currently grappling with, she’s not sure she can handle this world-shifting discovery at the moment. Plus, right now she doesn’t have the guild library to look to for answers, or Avery to discuss this with, and she’ll just drive herself nuts thinking about this too hard without some hope for a solution.
(But she is absolutely looking into this when they get back to Bethoc’s Haven.)
“Are you telling me you two aren’t speaking Ordirune?” Tobias asks, increasingly loud as he looks between the two of them.
“Apparently we are,” Junie teases, lifting her face. She has rice stuck to her feathers, but she seems like she’s already recovered from her shock. “Whatever that is.”
Tobias looks to Nia as if she’ll be able to solve the craziness of this situation. She gives him an apologetic shrug. “I have no clue how it works, but no, we’re not speaking...Ordirune? I don’t know what language all of the guild’s books are in, either, but for some reason I can read them just fine.”
Tobias stares at her, a frown on his face. Then he sighs, picks up his plate, and starts to eat without another word. Well, tries to. With his hands bandaged up so stiffly, the fork is back to slipping from his fingers.
Tobias growls and tries to maneuver the utensil, only managing to fling it from his lap and into the nest. He glares at where it disappeared. Nia opens her mouth, and he cuts her off with a hand jabbed in her direction. “Don’t. I don’t need help.”
Well. Nia’s jaw clicks shut as she bites back a smile. Maybe she’s getting a bit predictable with her mothering. Junie laughs.
“How did you even mangle your hands so badly?” The rookidee asks, pecking at some of her vegetables.
Tobias gives her a dry look. “Digging out your bodies.”
Both Nia and Junie still, looking again at the charmander’s hands and then back at his face. He rolls his eyes at the surprised expression on Junie’s face and the open guilt on Nia’s. “I’ll be fine in a few days. Would you rather I left you two under there?”
“Of course not, but...” Nia murmurs, knowing she still looks as upset as she feels. She didn’t know Tobias got so hurt saving them. She pushes her plate away, suddenly not so hungry.
The charmander throws up his hands, looking frustrated. “Look, d’you want Junie to get all mopey about you almost dying to save her?”
Nia reels back. “Of course not!”
“Then don’t start up the waterworks over me. I’m fine.”
Nia meets his gaze, honest as usual and not looking for an ounce of pity. She sighs. He’s right. Except now Junie just looks doubly upset, and it’s a foreign, uncomfortable expression on the chipper little bird.
“Hey, remember that I don’t regret saving you either, okay?” Nia says softly, giving Junie a smile. “Even if I got hurt. It’s our job, and you’re our friend. We chose to help.”
Junie looks down at her plate again, quiet, but nods.
Tobias snorts. “Should’ve been my job, since I’m the fire type. Idiot.”
Nia gives him a sheepish smile and searches for a change in topic. “Junie mentioned something earlier about me using my aura when the ceiling fell. I don’t remember that, but you saw it too?”
Tobias’ brow furrows, and he looks down at his plate to scoot his food around. “Yeah. When the ceiling fell there was like...a flash of blue energy.” He looks up to meet her eyes. “It looked like your aura. Exact same color. It curved around you guys like a bubble, or a shield or something.”
Nia frowns, humming a thoughtful sound. That’s so strange. Her aura certainly can’t do that.
...Right?
Nia closes her eyes and reaches for her aura, focusing on where her soul sits in her chest. What she finds is a tiny blue flame, small as a match, as if her aura has run dangerously close to vanishing entirely. Yet, it feels...different. Deeper, somehow? Like this tiny flame is just a drop of water in the ocean instead of a drop of water in a bucket. Like some sort of blockage has burst open and now she can feel...more.
Curiously, Nia pokes at it, urging it to flare back to its usual size, only for her aura (her body?) to respond with a backlash of prickling pain. She yelps, immediately pulling away from her inner self to clutch at her chest.
“Hey—don’t push yourself!” Tobias snaps. For once, he sounds more worried than angry.
Nia cracks open her eyes to see Tobias leaning close, hands poised as if to grab her. Junie is watching her with worry.
“I-I’m good. I just...I tried to call my aura, and it’s...different? I’m not sure how. A-And it looks smaller than usual? Like my energy is low or something.”
Tobias sits back, frowning. “Maybe you did use your aura, then. Is your aura finite? Can it be used up?”
“I’m not sure. Val never lets me push myself that far.” Nia wishes the medicham were here to help with this. “From what I understand it’s kind of like my life energy, but I’ve always felt sick and exhausted way before it got to this point.”
Tobias stares at her, clearly deep in thought. “Maybe your body usually protects you from using too much at one time because it’s dangerous to you.”
“But when I was backed into a corner and it was life-or-death,” Nia continues, catching on. “It lashed out full-power to keep me safe?”
“Desperate times call for desperate measures,” Tobias says with a shrug. “You have been sleeping for two days straight. The doctor thought you just overworked yourself, but maybe your fatigue is actually from aura backlash.”
Nia nods, slowly. “I-I guess that makes sense.”
Tobias doesn’t look satisfied. “The only other thing I can think of is a move called protect. It can form a wall or bubble like that, and stop almost any move for a brief period of time. That would explain how you kept tons of rock and debris from flattening you two, but I don’t think riolu are even able to learn it naturally.”
Nia pauses, the description niggling at her memory. A move called protect? A ball of blue energy, surrounding her, defending against fire and force...where has she heard of that before?
“What do you mean we can’t learn it ‘naturally?’” Nia asks instead.
“Some Pokemon don’t just learn moves spontaneously, like I did with dragon rage,” Tobias explains. “Not every Pokemon can learn every move, but sometimes they can be taught by another Pokemon instead. We call those moves TMs—trained moves.”
Nia tilts her head as she listens, intrigued. “So I could learn certain moves,” She starts, slowly. “But I’d need another Pokemon who already knows them to teach me? And protect is one of those moves?”
“I think so,” Tobias says, face twisting in thought. “Usually Pokemon can only learn protect naturally if they have like…a shell or something. I’ve never heard of a fighting type like a riolu just learning it on their own. That’s why this all feels so weird.”
Nia looks down at her paws, clenching them in her lap. It makes more sense for her to have used her aura if she shouldn’t be able to use protect. And yet, the word is sparking some kind of memory. She thinks again of Tobias’ description—a blue bubble of energy, shielding her from destruction. From the fire.
All at once she thinks of Will, smiling at her warmly, and then a line of yamask in a row, the smell of books and a picture of a Pokémon—a pikachu, she realizes now—flashes through her mind. Her breath catches as she straightens in her seat. Wait, that’s it!
“I read a book when I first came here,” Nia breathes, desperately trying to recall that collection of fairy tales and what it said about humans. “It mentioned that move! Protect! I think it said something about all humans being able to learn it, regardless of their species. It’s one of the few consistent things in our situation.”
Tobias doesn’t look as excited like she thought he might. If anything, he looks more conflicted, crossing his arms. “But that’s just…unheard of. And if it’s true then that means it wasn’t your aura, but I swear it looked exactly like it. And with your aura levels being so low it makes sense for there to be a connection.”
Nia makes a frustrated sound in her throat. “Maybe Val can help us figure it out when we get back home? It seems like we’re getting cues from both sides. If we could recreate it—“
“No,” Tobias meets her eyes with a sharp look. “Not until you’re back to full strength.”
Nia feels a warmth in her chest at his open concern, and she holds up her hands with a laugh. “I know, I know! Trust me, I don’t really feel like passing out again for two days.”
Tobias nods, satisfied, and opens his mouth to say something else when there’s a quiet knock at the door. They all turn, and Nia expects a nurse or doctor to step in for a check-up.
Instead, she’s shocked to see Will poke his head into the room with a concerned look. When he catches sight of their group he lights up, red eyes shining. “Oh, thank goodness.”
“Great,” Tobias grumbles, already glaring daggers as the yamask floats in and closes the door behind him.
Nia bumps her partner’s leg with her own. “Be nice.” Then, louder, “Will! It’s good to see you again.”
“I wish it could be under better circumstances,” Will says as he floats to their side, a regretful smile at his lips. His thumbs rub at the edge of the golden mask he carries. “I’ve been wanting to come check on everyone who was caught up in the fire.”
“Then why’d it take you two days to do it?” Tobias growls. Nia bumps his leg again, a bit harder. “Keegan was here the morning after.”
Will winces and looks away, gaze drifting to the window. “Ah, I’m afraid I’ve been a bit busy helping with the investigation.”
“You’re part of it?” Tobias asks, voice thick with suspicion.
“Investigation?” Nia asks, tilting her head first at Will, then Tobias. “What investigation?”
Will rubs his face, looking ten times older than he had at the conference when he was all charm and charisma. “Keegan suspects foul play in regards to how the fire began, so we want to thoroughly explore all possibilities before laying the blame on Hugo’s troupe. There weren’t any casualties in the fire, thank God, but there were a lot of serious injuries and, ah…property damage.”
Nia blinks at the explanation, still trying to play catch-up. Foul play?
“Whoa! Are you like secretly a detective?!” Junie asks, fluttering closer.
Will finally cracks a smile, shaking his head. “No, no, nothing like that.”
Tobias folds his arms. “Then why are you part of the investigation? Last I heard you aren’t a pyrotechnics expert.”
“Tobias,” Nia protests halfheartedly. She knows he doesn’t like the guy but he doesn’t have to be so openly hostile.
“No no, it’s quite all right, Nia,” Will soothes, giving first her and then Tobias another rueful smile. “We are investigating for any possible tampering, so it’s good to be suspicious at this stage.”
“Tampering,” Nia echoes. “What do you mean?”
Junie shifts a bit closer to Nia, something almost…uncomfortable in her expression. Wary? Tobias narrows his eyes at the yamask.
Will opens his mouth to speak, then hesitates, gaze moving over the three of them. Nia notices how he lingers on her burns, on Tobias’ bandaged fingers and Junie’s broken leg. His face tightens with something like resolution. “I know two of you already know about this, but I still want to ask that you don’t spread word of this needlessly. It’s only a working theory at the moment and could cause unnecessary panic if word spreads.”
Nia blinks, alarmed, and welcomes it when Junie clumsily flutters into her lap. She holds the bird close. “U-Uh…sure?”
Will sighs, looking down at his mask. “Keegan was suspicious from the start that the fire was not an accident, taking the troupe’s reputation and precautions into account. While we aren’t sure of anything yet, the Pokémon looking into it are leaning towards the idea of foul play. We suspect the fire was set intentionally.”
“Why would someone do that?” Nia asks, horrified. She vaguely remembers hearing about crimes of arson in the human world, but never dreamed of something so mindlessly destructive happening here in the Pokémon world.
“And again, why are you so closely involved with the investigation?” Tobias asks, gaze sharp.
Will’s expression tightens. “I was not only the one who put this event together, but I was also uninjured, unlike most folks who were around at the time. They wanted to make sure I didn’t see anyone suspicious.”
Nia’s surprised that Tobias doesn’t say anything to that, and glances over at him. He’s not quite looking at the yamask, anymore, instead staring through him into space. He looks like he’s thinking hard about something.
“Well, did ya?” Junie asks Will, feathers fluffed up in agitation. “See anyone suspicious, that is!”
Will glances at Tobias, looking uncomfortable. “Well, I don’t want to throw around accusations…”
“Just spit it out,” Tobias snaps, suddenly sounding much more on-edge.
Nia almost scolds him again, but cuts herself off when she looks at him. He’s tense, spine ramrod straight like he’s about to bolt to his feet and fight. His eyes are wide and a bit wild. His tail flame is bright.
Will sighs. “Well…I did notice a particularly powerful-looking arcanine lurking about on his own who I don’t remember seeing earlier in the day. Which could mean nothing, of course! There were plenty of powerful fire types there that day. But I thought I should mention it to the investigators, so I think he’s currently their prime suspect.”
Nia stops listening halfway through Will’s explanation. She’s too busy looking at Tobias in concern. The charmander’s breath had caught at the mention of the Pokémon—an arcanine. Surely that couldn’t be the same arcanine that they’ve been looking for, right? The outlaw?
But Tobias must be thinking the same thing, because he’s clearly somewhere else, wide eyes staring sightlessly at the floor, breaths growing harsher by the second, fingers curling into shaking fists—
Nia hurries to grab the charmander’s damaged hands and uncurl his mangled fingers before he can hurt himself. He jerks out of her hold, gaze flicking up to her but seeing nothing, looking right through her. His body is tense and trembling, like his fight response has abruptly switched over to flight and he might run off at any second in a panic.
Distantly Nia notes that Will has stopped speaking and Junie has fluttered out of Nia’s lap to chirp something over Nia’s shoulder, but she shushes the chatty little bird and focuses on her partner. Tobias is whispering something, and she leans forward to hear, straining her sharp ears.
“He was there. He was there, I saw him, he was in the fire, I didn’t remember but he was there he—”
Nia frowns, more than a little unsettled by the charmander’s weak voice and frantic words. She wants to dissect them more, think on them, ask him what exactly he means (he wouldn’t just believe Will that easily, surely? But he mentioned remembering—did he see the arcanine and block it out?)
Whatever happened, right now it looks like he’s...dissociating? She thinks that’s the word. Or maybe on the edge of a panic attack. She’s not sure. Didn’t he have a panic attack at the guild? When he saw the post about the outlaws and decided to create a Seeker team.
Someone says something and Tobias flinches, and Nia shoves all of her thoughts aside for now. The most important thing right now is to help Tobias, even if she doesn’t know how to do that and can feel anxiety tightening in her gut. Should she touch him? That didn’t go so well when she grabbed his hands, but—
“T-Tobias?” Nia tries. Nothing. No recognition, no sign that he even heard her. Hesitantly, she lifts her hands to his face, trying to get him to look at her. “Tobias?”
Tobias tenses up further at the slight brush of her palms, but doesn’t jerk away this time. Okay, okay, what does she do now? Try his name again? Distract him? Talk to him? Oh God, she has no idea how to help him and his breathing has gone shaky and harsh, almost wheezing, like he can’t catch his breath—
“Nia, if you can get his attention, you can lead him through a breathing exercise. He needs to calm down or he’ll pass out.”
Will has lowered himself next to her, brow pinched and gaze focused on her partner’s stricken face, and her first instinct is to tell him to leave, to hide Tobias away when he’s this vulnerable, but the ghost type sounds so calm and confident. Like he knows what he’s doing. Nia clings to that strength.
“H-How can I get his attention?” She squeaks, trying not to panic right alongside Tobias.
Will frowns, glancing over his shoulder at the sunlit room. “Get closer, narrow his vision. You don’t happen to know any ice types on staff, do you? If we had some ice we could put that in his hand to snap him out of it.”
“I-I can get ice!” Nia hears Junie chirp, and then the flutter of wings.
Tobias is still breathing harsh, eyes flicking back and forth and seeing something Nia cannot. He’s shaking almost violently beneath her touch, and she hates it. Hates that he’s so terrified and trapped in some horrible memory where she can’t reach him.
A little desperate, Nia leans forward, right in his face, and tries to get his attention, tries to shut out the world. He’s almost too close to see, but she catches his flickering gaze. “Tobias. Tobias, please, you have to calm down. C-Can you calm down and breathe? Tobias? Toby?”
Nia’s not sure what prompts her to use the nickname Junie forced upon him just a few days ago, but as soon as she says it, blue eyes snap to hers. Not quite seeing her, but paying some sort of attention. He heard her.
She can’t decide whether to laugh or cry, so she just gives him a shaky grin. “G-Good! Good, okay. Toby, can you hear me? Can you nod if you can?”
A heartbeat passes, and then a jerky half-nod that almost bumps their noses together. She laughs, and thinks that his eyes focus on her a bit more. “Great! Okay, u-um, uh—“
“Keep asking him questions. Keep him here.”
“R-Right, okay, Toby—Toby? Hey, look at me. Good! Okay, how about, uh...”
“Ask him to list something. Colors, sounds—“
“What colors do you see?” Nia asks, latching onto Will’s helpful directions.
Tobias’ eyes focus on hers again. “R-Red.”
“Good! What else?”
His gaze flicks to the left ever so slightly. “B...Black? And blue.”
“Anything else?”
His gaze moves down to where Nia knows there’s a burn on her cheek. “Pink.”
Nia doesn’t even know if that one’s right, but she grins anyways. “Awesome! O-Okay, uh—“
“Have him do a breathing exercise before he faints. 5-6-7. Five seconds in, hold for six, release for seven.”
“Tobias, can you breathe in for me?” Nia asks. “Deep breath!”
The charmander tries, she can tell he does, but he only manages a short, shaky inhale before releasing it and gasping in another.
Nia’s stomach drops. “O-Okay, that’s okay, just try again. Deep breath.”
She takes a breath, sees him try to match her before letting it out far too early. Is that bad? She doesn’t know. She doesn’t know what she’s doing!
Tobias must pick up on her own panic, because his breathing stutters into another gasp. No no no, she’s supposed to be helping, not making him worse!
She just wants to help!
A lance of of pain shoots through Nia’s chest, and she squeezes her eyes shut with a whine, automatically following the pain to her raw, exhausted aura. Except the little blue flame is no longer a weak, still thing in her chest. Instead, it’s thrashing and flaring with her emotions, seeming to grow larger by the second, like it’s being fed by her panic. But this hasn’t ever happened before!
Nia tries to figure out where the building energy is coming from, realizing all at once that she hadn’t been imagining the feeling earlier of having access to more. It’s like the well of her aura has suddenly gotten deeper, filled with more energy than before, and now it’s overflowing and feeding that fire in her chest, stoking it into something more sensitive to her emotions.
That only makes her panic more, and the tiny blue flame of her soul grows and grows and grows until it’s too much to be contained. It rushes outward, throughout her body, to her legs and tail and arms, and she rips herself away from Tobias with a yelp. What is her aura doing?!
Tobias flinches and makes a small, desperate noise in the back of his throat. Nia wants to reach out again, but she can’t touch him, not like this. Not with her aura flaring like a blue inferno and reaching towards Tobias with an almost fierce protectiveness.
Will shoots her a worried glance before taking her place in front of Tobias. She hears him say something in a low, soothing murmur.
Nia’s aura has never done anything like this before, never felt like it was fighting back against her. If anything, her aura has always been too unresponsive, slow to follow her orders and too weak to do anything but brush at others’ energy through her skin.
She’d prefer that weakness over this raging thing. It doesn’t feel much more powerful than it was before, just...unfiltered. Unrestrained.
And she has no idea how to control it.
For once, she feels dangerous. Like a bomb waiting to go off, too much power building in a body too small to contain it.
“Nia!”
Nia’s eyes snap open, and there’s Junie, in front of her face. The little bird rears back, staring at her eyes with a surprised expression.
“Are you okay?” The rookidee asks, gaze flicking to the side of Nia’s face and then back again. “You’re, uh, glowing.”
Nia looks down to see that she is in fact glowing, body outlined in the blue of her aura and brighter than it’s ever been before. She’s not even trying to do that.
Junie glances down at Nia’s hands, surprise souring to dismay. “You’re shaking!”
“My aura,” Nia grits out, shutting her eyes again to look at it. The energy is still larger than usual, but it almost looks like it’s...calming, slightly. Swirling anxiously, but without the sharp edges of panic.
“C-Can I help?”
Nia shakes her head, watching her aura like it’s a snarling dog about to snap at her fingers. But despite her fear and confusion, the energy only continues to calm as the seconds pass. Nia can finally hear Will again, counting and breathing with Tobias. She doesn’t realize she’s following along until her aura finally stills, settling in her chest. It’s calm again, larger than it’s ever been but manageable. A lion calmed from its frenzy to purr contentedly at her side.
Nia cracks opens her eyes. Junie is looking between Nia and Will.
“Back with us, Tobias?” The yamask asks.
Tobias! Nia takes another moment to check on her aura, confirm that it’s under control, and then she scoots over to Will’s side. The charmander blinks sluggishly, but his gaze flicks to her. “Nia?”
Wow, he sounds out of it. Nia’s chest aches, with emotion this time instead of her aura. “Y-Yeah, Toby—Tobias. How’re you feeling?”
Tobias doesn’t even respond to her slip-up, pressing his palms into his eyes and groaning. “Like I got trampled by a rhyperior.”
Will gives him a sympathetic smile before turning to Nia. “And you?”
Nia winces. Tobias was the one who had a panic attack; they should be focusing on him, not her. “F-Fine. I don’t know what happened. My aura just went crazy.”
Will’s gaze moves between her and Tobias, thoughtful. “Aura can sense emotions, correct? Perhaps some of Tobias’ fear bled into your own emotional state.”
Nia frowns, wracking her brain for what Val had told her she would eventually be able to do with her aura. She can kind of read people’s emotions when she’s purposefully looking at their aura, sure. And she does sort of...feel them for herself, too? But never like this, unintentionally and without touch.
“But I wasn’t looking at his aura. I wasn’t even touching—“ Nia stops, catching herself. She was touching him, wasn’t she? Cupping his face. She wasn’t touching his aura or using hers, but...
Tobias doesn’t react, eyes lidded with exhaustion.
“Maybe the emotion was strong enough for you to pick it up regardless?” Will suggests, hand at his chin. “You are partners, after all—it would make sense for you to be more in tune with one another.”
Nia looks at Tobias again, waiting for his usual vehement protests to any implication that they’re anything even close to friends.
The charmander just shrugs, drained of his usual fight. “Sorry, I guess.”
It’s somehow flippant and genuine all at once. Nia blinks. “I-It’s not like you did it on purpose.”
Tobias doesn’t answer. Instead, he just rubs at his eyes and grumbles, “Whatever. I wanna sleep. Either talk quieter or get out, Will.”
Nia can’t manage to scold him right now, not when the charmander looks so utterly exhausted. She remembers he was the same after the panic attack at the guild, too. So instead, Nia just gives Will an apologetic smile. “Sorry. Panic attacks wipe him out.”
“Still here,” Tobias growls, shooting her a weak glare. There’s her prickly partner!
“It’s quite all right. I should be heading to other rooms anyways.” Will smiles apologetically at them yet again. “I’m sorry for interrupting your rest, and for...well, potentially triggering your panic attack, Tobias. Was it the, ah…the specific Pokemon I mentioned?”
Tobias winces again, eyes squeezing shut
“Yeah,” Nia murmurs for him.
“Then apologies for that as well,” Will says, looking remorseful. “Before I go—will you all be in Ghatha for a bit while you recover?”
Oh. Nia doesn’t actually know. They’d planned on staying after the Human Convention anyways, to investigate the outlaw trio, and sitting on Fliss’ back for hours on end with the wind tearing at her wounds sounds awful right now. But just in case, she looks to Tobias.
The charmander glances at her, gaze flicking down over her burns. “Nia’ll need a few days to rest.”
“Your hands need to heal too,” She reminds him, gently.
Tobias looks back at Will. “And I want to stick around and look for that…” He stumbles, takes a deep breath, and his voice only shakes a bit when he continues. “That arcanine. If he really did set the fire, he needs to be brought in.”
Nia frowns. She knows the explanation is mostly a cover for his true animosity towards the arcanine, but this whole debacle couldn’t have helped lessen his desire for revenge. He’s gotta be even more angry than before, if that’s possible.
Well, they’re partially here in Ghatha to hunt down leads on the outlaw trio, anyways, and this might be a big one, so it makes sense for them to stay until that’s resolved. They’ll have to send a letter to Maggie and August to let them know.
Nia cringes. Maggie is going to give them an earful for this one.
“I’ll stick around for a bit, too,” Junie chirps, “Can’t do much flying with a cast on my leg. ‘Sides, Toby’s gonna need an extra hand.”
“You don’t even have hands!”
Before Tobias can really get going, Nia interrupts, “We weren’t planning on staying longer than a couple of days, but Tobias mentioned us being able to take on honorary guild work to make money and explore the area. So I guess we’ll plan on doing that once we’re well enough to leave the hospital?”
Will nods. “That sounds like a fine plan. Keegan has been a wonderful help, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the guild here in town, so I’m sure you’ll have no issue signing up for missions.”
“Then I guess we’ll probably see you around,” Nia say, giving the yamask a tired smile.
Will smiles back. “Indeed. And I’ll be sure to let you all know once I hear anything new about the investigation.”
Tobias nods. “Good. Keep us in the loop.”
“Of course.” Will bows to them again and floats towards the door. “I’ll let you all rest. Have a good night.”
Nia and Junie wave as the ghost type leaves the room. Tobias just shuffles over to his nest and flops down, curling up and making himself comfortable.
“You know it’s only mid-afternoon, right?” Junie asks, fluttering over to Tobias’ side.
“You know you could shut up, right?” Tobias growls, turning away.
Junie chirps a laugh and turns back to Nia. “Ball of sunshine, this one.”
Nia bites back a laugh, watching as Tobias slowly melts into his nest, probably enjoying the warmth and sunshine pouring into the room. Nia definitely doesn’t want to disturb him, but she feels sort of restless, despite her wounds. It’s probably the worry about everything Will told them. And Tobias’ panic attack. And her aura suddenly freaking out.
Cautiously, she prods again at her aura, but it’s still calm, burning bright in her chest. Huh. Maybe after resting up and healing from her injuries it’ll act normal again? It seems fine now.
“I think I’m gonna take a little walk around the hospital,” Nia announces quietly, looking at Junie. “Wanna come?”
“Sure!”
The two of them head towards the door, Nia at a slow pace that pulls less at her burns and wounds. They probably shouldn’t be walking around without a doctor’s permission, but they won’t go far or anything, just take a look around the halls.
Before they close the door, Nia’s gaze catches on Tobias again, already sound asleep. He seems like he bounced back all right from his panic attack, but she still worries. What if they do find something solid about the arcanine in their own investigating? What if they find the arcanine himself? If he really was at the fire, then it’s suddenly a very real possibility. Just the unexpected mention of the Pokémon was enough to send Tobias spiraling again.
And that same Pokemon may be responsible for the fire. For all three of them almost dying.
It’s...a lot. And a lot to be scared of. Why would the rogue even set the fire in the first place? What should they even do if they find a real lead? Nia isn’t eager to face any fire type in combat any time soon, let alone such a powerful outlaw. They wouldn’t stand a chance if they fought him.
Nia shivers, taking a deep breath as she shuts the door and follows Junie’s short, careful hops out into the hallway. She needs to stop thinking for now, and try to relax while she can. She won’t be able to do much of anything for a day or two anyways, so until then her and Tobias will just have to wait and heal and keep an ear out for any news from Will or Keegan. Then they’ll decide what to do next.
“Let’s look around and find something cool to sneak back to our room!” Junie chirps conspiratorially, glancing down the hallway with a glint in her eyes. Nia has the distinct feeling that the little bird was the kind of human to hijack a wheelchair and go flying down hospital ramps in their old world.
Nia shakes her head, smiling. At least their recovery won’t be boring.

Hi! I'm a gay fan of 911 and I have a question about the whole Buddie fandom. As much as I like Buck and Eddie, it's frustrating that a HUGE part of the fandom is pushing for these two characters to get together instead of putting energy into supporting Hen & Carla and Michael & Dave. Not to mention Carlos and TK in Lone Star. Can you explain to me the appeal of wanting these two men together? Wouldn't it be more interesting to see two heterosexual males just be able to bond in a non-toxic fashion? That's something we don't get to see often on television.
Hey! This is MAD long lmao I am so sorry! You caught me on a day I felt like talking! Also this took like a year to answer you lolololol. This does have a few ʻhot takesʻ so please be warned! So like in this essay....
So first I am also apart of the LGBTQIA+ community, so I do understand how it could come across as a fetish or being non supportive of the current canonically LGBTQIA+ characters, however I think a lot of the interest around Buddie and the want for them to be confirmed as a couple is how they are being written. Me personally I knew since s2 e1 Buck and Eddie were written not as rivals but as two people who would eventually become friends, but it wasn’t until the Christmas episode with the elf assuming Buck was Chris’s dad and Eddie’s partner that I was like ‘hold on!’ because I was really hoping Abbey would return and I didn’t see Eddie as a possible Buck live interest because of that. The elf’s comment wasn’t played off like most other shows would (think Dean and Sam arriving anywhere in Supernatural) it made me go back and look at the other episodes to see exactly how Buck and Eddie were being framed/written. And as we have moved into further seasons I think there has been a shift in how Buddie is being written, in s3 it was very much like two people progressing into a deeper friendship then the blood clot/lawsuit gets in the way and they both have to deal with emotions surrounding that, then Buck’s response to Eddie being trapped (we see how is he when Boddy is trapped in a fire WITH A GUNMAN, it’s emotional but not to the point is is with Eddie), even the love interests feel very pushed on us and there’s so little banter between Buddie about their gfs and how they feel about these new beginnings. It feels off, not like a friendship in the slightest, more like two people trying to force something and not wanting to deal with any other feelings. Then when Eddie gets shot and reveals Buck is Chris’s legal Guardian in the event Eddie dies, that’s huge, and he did this after only a year of knowing Buck (I have friends with kids. I’ve known one of them for FIVE years, I’m at their house every week, the kid calls me family. I’m person #10 on the list of ‘who gets my kid if I die’, not #1 lol) It just feels like it’s all building up to something, and people are getting tired of waiting for that something! We’re all emotionally tired from the past two years, and probably from many shows queerbaiting us and this is something that could happen, seems to be something the actors are ok with and the fans want. So why do they keep drawing it out. This isn’t about us demanding they ignore the chance to write a healthy platonic male friendship, or forcing two characters to be gay, it’s about holding the writers to what they’ve implied and seeing what could come of it.
Also think of it like this; If Buddie is confirmed it will still be a good example of a healthy friendship which then developed into something else, like Booth/Bones! Showing the natural progression of friendship to relationship that happens a lot in real life. It’s two men who previously (on screen at least) have only been with woman, but now they have an emotionally connection with someone which they then develop and explore. This could be 911’s first nontoxic depiction of two gay characters coming together, because sorry not sorry the canon couples aren’t perfect (which does humanize them) but they also reenforce harmful troupes that plaque the LGBTQIA+ community, which I’m sure you understand: TK was a drug addict, who only got with Carlos at first cause he was hot and sex was TK’s new addition (all gay men are sex addicts who do drugs and sleep with anything that moves). Carlos was ashamed and wanted to keep TK on the downlow (poc gay men want to pretend to be straight but have free access to gay sex). Hen cheated on Karen seemingly the first chance she got (lesbians can’t handle monogamy when pushed, and cheat on their long term partners). All known and documented troupes that happen far too often.
I’m not saying Buddie is some gay jesus ship that’s gonna save the entertainment industry but if done right it could prove to be one of the few healthy depictions of two men getting into a gay relationship we have. If they plan it out correctly, show us the relationship development, like they did with Maddie/Chim for example, Buddie could be used as a positive example of a gay fictional relationship (I really could go into depth about this. I probably should tbh).
As for not supporting Hen and KAREN, or Michael and DAVID, I think fans do support them! The writers don’t. If you read fanfics Henren and Michael/David are featured heavily in many fics, and ik some people might say ‘well they’re only there so Buddie can talk about their gay side!!’ but both these couples have their own fans and fanfic tags! They aren’t just plot devices in Buddie stories. There is a huge side of the fandom that supports Henren and wants to see more of them and their family. Same with Michael and David, during the episode where Michael and Bobby team up to find that plastic surgeon who was working illegally many people where ecstatic that we were getting more Michael/David content and that David was getting more than a couple lines. But sadly it seems like the writers only want to delve into these story lines when they need filler, they even miss opportunities to include these other LGBTQIA+ characters when it makes sense;
(Someone came for me about this but I am going to bring it up again)
When Chris is sad and wants more human connection, instead of bring Harry + Michael/David and Denny+Nia+Henren back into the picture (and yes I understood at the time the pandemic was bad (lmao still is!!), but all the actors at some point would have/had crossed over into each other’s ‘bubbles’, so ALL the actors would have been exposed to each other so getting the children together with adults they had ALREADY been with during shooting wouldn’t have been a super spreader event) but instead they brought in Ana after only two on screen dates and pretended like it was a logical thing for someone who’s up to that point been extremely careful with their child.
They really could have pushed the ‘118 is a family!’ message here and included the canonically gay supporting characters, and the lesbian main character(s) but they did not and instead chose to push the Ana/Eddie coupling even though they hadn’t properly developed it yet. The writers themselves don’t seem to care about developing their canonically gay characters and including them more than they have to but fans are continuously developing Henren and Michael/David with hc and fics.
I’d like to use your logic against you for a second, in s1 we have a very healthy, platonic friendship between Chim/Bobby but that got written out to the point they are more like boss/employee unless the scene calls for them to seem closer, we now have Bobby and Michael friendship but again we hardly see Michael. On Lone Star we have Owen and Judd as a really, really good example of a healthy male friendship but we see Judd more often with Tommy now then we do with Owen, and in s2 it’s overshadowed by Owen trusting Charlie from Twilight and constantly getting fucked over! Why can’t the writter just be happy with these happy, healthy, emotionally well male-male friendship they’ve already included and expand upon them. There’s enough drama because the show literally involves burning buildings and people’s lives being at risk from some natural/man made disaster ever 12 seconds. Does it need to have so much interpersonal conflict and male peacocking??

A Broken Heart And A Spotless Mind (Part 4)
Tumblr media
Word count: 2053
Warnings: A bit of Angst and I think there’s one swear word in there...
Hello again lovely people, hope you enjoy reading this one.
B!D isn’t in this part.
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 / Part 4 / Part 5
 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Alex’s phone rings “Kara? Is it ready?” in an anxious tone “Yes the suit is almost ready but we have to hurry, Alex.” The red head is bothered by the blonde’s distressed tone “Why? What happen?” “Lillian just cut the hours, instead of twenty hours we only have three hours left, what do we have to do?”  Your sisters’ emotion are mixed of fear, worry, and stress because they don’t have much time left due to Lillian’s rescheduled deadline. “I don’t know, Kara” Alex is over whelmed by her emotions she’s going to lose it. “Hey, we will figure something out. We will get our little dork back. I promise, just clear your mind for now and get ready ok?” Kara reassures your oldest sister. “Ok, I’ll inform them and Kara…” “Yes?” Kara answers her “Thank you” She said causing Kara to smile for a moment. “No problem Alex…Oh I think the suit is ready, Lena and I will be there soon.” The call ended. Kara head over to Lena who’s quietly typing something on her tablet. “Is it ready?” “It will be ready in about thirty minutes.” Kara began to grow impatient as time passes. “Can it go any faster?” “Kara, the suit needs twenty minutes to be finished just wait.” Lena answered her without looking at her, still busy typing. So Kara peaked at the tablet, trying to figure out what’s taking so long because the suit looks like it’s finished then she saw that the suit is having some re-modifications and then she grew antsier. “Lena now is not the time to modify the suit, it’s ready and we have to go now.” The black haired woman is getting more annoyed, in a level we’re she can’t contain herself by snapping at your sister being impatient, to her using that suit with unfinished with its re-modification is just reckless. “Kara. My girlfriend’s life is at risk. And I can’t let you wear this without having any backup features, you could say that I’m being a perfectionist right now because yes, that’s who I am when it comes to (Y/N)’s safety. Aren’t you?”   Kara was taken aback because she also wants you to be safe and also but what she is pointing out that “What’s the use of the machine when my sister could be dead because we didn’t arrive there on time.” Lena was pissed by the heroine’s statement. “I’m doing as fast as I can, Kara! I can’t risk (Y/N)’s safety! I can’t watch you going there unprepared for the battle and somehow lose it because I’ve let a small implication in that suit slide because I’ve underestimated it and that later could be the reason why both of  you would get hurt or much worse, dead. And I can’t have that. I won’t lose (Y/N) again and even though I’m mad at you. That I wanted to hurt you, to make you feel what I felt when Lex told me that that people that I trusted lie to my face every day, taking me for a fool! How can you do that to me, Kara! How could you? Am I just another Luthor to you? I let down my walls to let you in! I told you secrets that I don’t just simply share to people, you are my best friend…but it seems like I wasn’t yours. Kara’s lips start to tremble and her eyes welled up with tears, “Suit completed.” Lena’s AI system Hope announces. Lena wiped her tears and turns around to face the suite and after running diagnostics and it seems like it works perfectly and she’s satisfied with it she press the center of the suit to transform it into it’s a compact triangular gadget, she gave it to Kara whose still sobbing. “Lena, I’m so sorry.” “Kara, I can’t accept your apology right now just because you’ve asked for it but I’ll set aside my hatred towards you so we can save (Y/N).”
Lena tucked the isotope and the lead dispersing device inside a metallic suitcase. She prepares the transmatter portal to teleport her to the DEO but she sees Kara wasn’t wearing the suite, so she comes over to her. “Give it to me.” Lena says using a cold tone that she uses during business meetings, Kara gave it to her, Lena places the device on Kara’s chest and she presses it to activate the suit. “Hope, will be with you in there, she’ll inform you about everything that you need to know, and what’s going on in your suite, she’ll inform you if there are any damages in the suit and how to operate its features.” Kara nods “Now there’s no time to waste, we have to save (Y/N).” They’ve used the portal to get to the DEO.
Alex goes to the main room to inform all the agents, including Nia, Kelly, and J’onn about the change of time. “Lillian did what? Oh I will put her to sleep alrightt…” Nia said while ready to charge. “Hey, calm down we’re not there yet.” Alex says to Nia to chill out. “So what’s the plan?” J’onn asked her. “I’ll discuss the plan as soon as Lena and Kara arrived for now we have to prepare ourselves, meeting adjourned.” All of them nodded and goes back to their task. “How are you feeling?” Kelly asked her girlfriend in a loving tone. “Honestly, I don’t know…because I’m worried about (Y/N) and scared of what could’ve Lillian and that cyborg goon of hers did to my sister, not to mention that I haven’t informed mom about this cause she’ll lose her mind when she knows about this and…” “Hey.” Kelly grabs Alex’s shoulder to calm down “Look at me babe, breathe for me, We will get her back from Lillian Luthor, (Y/N)’s going to be fine and you can worry about breaking the news to Eliza later,  alright.” Alex inhales deeply and then exhales and then smiled at Kelly as she tucks a strand of Kelly’s hair to her right her ear. “Thank you for reassuring me, not that the girl of steel’s words aren’t enough…” They both chuckle. “Don’t tell that to Kara.” She says to her girlfriend. “Don’t tell Kara what?” They saw Kara in the suit with Lena exiting the portal. “Nice, entrance Kar.” Nia shouts, as she welcomes Kara with a hug and as she was about to hug Lena, Lena steps back and only gave her a weak smile and a handshake. “Oh…ok, hi Lena.” She warmly greets her but Lena gave her a cold shoulder. “Hello, Nia.” Alex could sense the awkwardness. “So, since Lena and Kara are here, Shall we start the briefing?” “Let’s go.” Kara flatly says. Alex led them to the meeting room and inside of it were all the other agents including J’onn. “Listen up here’s the plan…” Alex discusses the plan step by step in order to make everything clear because she doesn’t want to make any mistake or making you a collateral damage. “Lena, do you have any ideas of what kind of weapons does Lex have in there?” She looks at her expectantly. “I knew that Lex had installed a Kryptonian radar that could detect any Kryptonian by sixty kilometres away… good thing that I have installed a camouflage mode so that any alien detector specifically kryptonian detector, won’t be able to scan her heat signatures so she should be fine.” The rest of them were relieved knowing that. “So, we’re all set, let’s go, Lena can we use the portal to get us there?.” “I mean I could make it bigger so we can fit the vans but it’ll have me about two hours.” Lena said. “Brainy, how much time do we have?” Alex looks at him. “One and a half hours, director.” “Guess we ride then.” Alex cocks her gun and everyone piles out to the meeting room and goes to the armored vehicles. Alex checks all the agents, weapons and equipment that they need. “Let’s move. Move. Move! People… Agent Williams, stay alert here in the headquarters and always keep a line available just in case we need back up, and set up the medbay, alright.” The agent nodded as Alex climbs on the car and shuts the door, she look back from the passenger side. “You guys ready?” She asked them. Nia, Lena, and the other agent nodded while Brainy is busy typing something in his tablet. So Alex faces the road again and fixes the mirror. “Let’s go for a road trip kids.” Kara and J’onn are already there. “Supergirl, J’onn. What’s the status?” Alex speaks through her coms, “I can’t see anything the whole place is covered with lead…But I can definitely pickup (Y/N)’s heartbeat.” Alex was relieved hearing that you’re still alive. “Director Danvers, ask them if they could find a route or any entrance that we could access.” Brainy says. “Can you find us a route so we can get closer to the lair?” She asked them “Sure thing.” Kara replied. Both Kara and J’onn scan the place and it seems like there are three ways the one that has a bridge in it, the one with the tunnel and the other one that is steep and narrow, so narrow only one van at a time could fit. Lena realizes something “Alex, ask them to check the bridge and the tunnel if there are any traps.” “Good call, Luthor.” Alex asked J’onn and Kara to check the bridge and the tunnel. J’onn checks the bridge while Kara checks the tunnel. J’onn examines the bridge it seems pretty normal, but he check underneath it and it shocked him. “Alex, don’t head for the bridge, it has a bomb underneath it and I think that there is also a detector here that would cause the bridge to detonate the bombs.” “Thanks for the heads up, J’onn…Kara what do we got in the tunnel?” Kara uses her x-ray vision to inspect the surroundings. “Nothing unusual it’s just dark, really dark in here.” “Wait, I think something is happening.” “What? What’s going on in there?” she hears a bunch of metal noises and then she realizes that it was a machine gun cocking. “Uhm Lena? Please tell me this suit is bulletproof.” “Kara, get out of there, now.” Alex commands her. Kara made a run for it and gets to a safe distance and she hears the rapid gun fires. “So don’t go to that path, don’t go to the tunnel.” So that makes it the third option the steep and narrow road. “Alex.” Nia calls her. “Yes, Nia?” She turns to face Nia, expecting another brilliant suggestion. “Do you have a candy bar or a bag of chips in here?” Alex narrows her eyes to Nia. “Are you kidding me right now?” The red head raises her eyebrow realizing that Nia is being serious causes her to sigh. “Agent Dox, give Dreamer (Y/N)’s “Emergency Stash”.” Brainy asked Lena to scoot over so he can lift the hood of Lena’s seat. revealing a stash of snacks, candy bars and “What! There’s even a mini fridge here.” Nia opens it. “And it’s fully stocked!” Lena chuckles at the thought of you having that inside of an armored truck and the fact that you called it “Emergency stash.” Now she wonders if you have something similar to that inside of your car. Nia saw how Lena’s face subtly lights up when she hears your name but she didn’t mention it. And after a two solid minutes of deciding what to pick she chooses the bag of Cheetos and a can of Mountain Dew.  Then she happily munch. An hour later they’ve arrived. They’ve already crossed the steep road, so all is left to do was for Lena to call her step mother to give her access to the entrance, Kara landed beside her. “Hope, activate invisibility cloak.” With Lena’s command, Kara’s suite became invisible within five seconds. Alex hands Lena a pair of pearl earrings, “Ok, what are these for?” Lena asked her, while Alex is setting it up. “It’s a special type of earpiece, so Lillian won’t notice that you have back up.” Lena just simply nodded then she calls Lillian. “I’m here.”
“Lena, right on time.” Lillian smirks.

Brighter Than Any Star:
An intimate look at everyone’s new favorite bass player
(or the blades band au that nobody asked for)
*inspired by @iaraiumi‘s STUNNING guitarist tyril art (here)
tyril-centric and tyril x mc bc this would be 7k+ words if i didn’t focus on just one of them but i tried to give everyone a moment in the spotlight. credits to a fic i read from the 100 fandom years ago for the format
used my f!elf mc ryllea graywater for this (though i guess this is kind of a modern au idk asjdla); also i don’t play any musical instruments i’m sorry in advance for butchering any of the technical parts 😬
Tyril Starfury — with his red silk shirts and slicked back hair — looks every bit the part of a rock god on stage with the rest of BLADES; but here, in the confines of their tour bus, he is a quiet presence, calmly sipping tea in the corner with a notepad and pen in his hands, his mind far away in the early hours of the morning.
If you had told me eighteen months ago that I would be shadowing Broadway darling Tyril Starfury as he traveled cross-country with his new rock band, I would have laughed and called you preposterous.
And yet, here I am, witness to the madness.
Nia Ellarious, the band’s youngest member and resident pianist, offers me a cup of the same tea as Starfury’s, telling me to enjoy the quiet with an almost apologetic smile.
I understand what she means not long after.
(There’s no such thing as a quiet morning in the world of Mal Volari.)
Every bit as charming and flamboyant as his on-stage persona, Volari greets the entire bus a good morning with flourish, throwing both me and Ellarious a magnetic smile before slipping towards the coffee machine with exceptionally light feet. (More on that later.) He taps on every available surface while he waits for his coffee to brew, humming softly as if figuring out a melody right there on the spot.
If Starfury is bothered by Volari’s banging and humming, he makes no show of it, paying him no mind as he continues to scribble in his notepad.
Ellarious beams as the scene plays out in front of her. “It’s not every day that they don’t get on each other’s nerves,” she explains. “Especially in the morning.”
It’s around this time — almost noon now — that Ryllea Graywater, lead guitarist and vocalist, wakes and joins the group, heading straight towards Volari and the cup of coffee in his hand.
“Thanks,” she winks as she takes the cup from him, shooting Volari a shit-eating grin that he returns easily, already procuring another cup for himself.
It should be noted that Graywater doesn’t seem to talk to anyone until she’s had at least one cup of coffee, choosing instead to slide in beside Starfury in the dining booth, eyes darting towards the notepad he’s writing on. They kind of just... sit there, minding their own business amidst the chaos that is the rest of the bus.
(Volari’s launched into an animated story about the inspiration behind last year’s summer hit, “Contessa, Contessa”, but I can’t help being drawn to the more quiet story unfolding behind him in the dining booth.)
Slinging one arm against the backrest of Starfury’s seat, Graywater casually invites herself into his space, a thoughtful smile on her lips as she looks over the notepad in his hand. There’s an openness between them that tells me that this isn’t a new occurrence, a comfortable ease in the way they seem to be engaging in a wordless conversation.
“He’s kind of really private,” I recall the younger Starfury sibling, Adrina, telling me about his creative process years ago, at the release party for his collab album with then rumored girlfriend and writing partner Kaya Duskraven. “He’s always been a perfectionist. Doesn’t really let anyone other than Kaya hear anything until it’s finished.”
But there’s no trace of that here, in this quiet moment with Graywater, bright, almost triumphant smiles on their faces as she picks up a pen and scribbles something on the pad too, immediately tapping out a melody against the table as if to test-run it by Starfury.
The smile he gives her is glowing.
I look away — suddenly feeling like an intruder in their private moment — catching the tail-end of Volari’s Contessa story, right before Imtura (no publicly released surname) accidentally slams me against the wall when the bus makes a rocky turn.
“Oof, sorry there little guy.” She raises both hands in apology before heading straight for the coffee machine, haphazardly dumping its contents into a generous-sized mug before immediately proceeding to consume said coffee as she plunks onto the other end of the dining booth.
And that’s how the first morning of me shadowing BLADES goes.
Ellarious tells me I’m lucky it was a good one.
-
With over 16 years of experience under his belt, Tyril Starfury has been in the music and entertainment industry far longer than the rest of the BLADES members combined. At the tender age of nine, he won his first piano competition, regarded highly for his precision at such a young age. He would continue to play competitively until he discovers a new love — musical theater.
It’s no surprise that Starfury ends up on Broadway — he comes from a long line of revered artists, all of them regarded as geniuses of their time. Though some would argue that his family name opened doors that would otherwise be unavailable, no one could deny that it was his clear, soaring baritone and unrelenting work ethic that kept him on stage.
It’s on this stage that he met young Kaya Duskraven, an understudy in one of his shows, prompting a fruitful five-year partnership spanning two EPs and a mini-concert series, Stars in the Dusk.
(The name was a little on the nose, but the critics loved them all the same.)
The two shared such a comfortable rapport, on and off-stage, that they naturally sparked dating rumors — Starfury was always quick to deny them.
No one could have expected the partnership to end on such a bitter note.
To this day, no one knows the real reason behind their fallout — Starfury walked out in the middle of their televised performance without apology or explanation — though there have been no shortage of rumors and theories, a lot of them involving one Eleryn Rosecoven, better known in the industry as Shadow Court bassist dXenia.
I tried to bring it up once, after several bottles of beer have been consumed and the band is swapping stories over s’mores made over the tour bus stove.
I’ve never been shut out so fast in my life.
There’s an audible crack from the s’more now crushed in Imtura’s hand, her piercing amber eyes seemingly driving a death sentence into mine. Volari sighs disapprovingly (and dramatically) at me, and even Ellarious — friendly, cheery Nia — looks at me with a pointed glare, turning off the stove, signaling the end of s’mores night.
“I would prefer not to comment,” Starfury nods at me, years of practiced courtesy showing in his tone and all I want in that moment is for the earth to swallow me whole.
Graywater follows when he excuses himself from the group. Everyone else avoids me like the plague.
It’s hours later when Starfury and Graywater return to the bus — I pretend to have fallen asleep in the dining booth in hopes that I can avoid their fury until the morning — but Graywater approaches me with two cups of tea in hand, an unreadable expression on her face.
She slides over one cup to me — if the scalding temperature of the tea is intentional, she makes no obvious show of it.
“Look,” she begins with an exasperated sigh. “I know you’re only doing your job here. And we did agree to this article, so I’m sorry if things got a little tense back there.” She pauses, as if considering her next words carefully. “We’ve all lived moments in our lives that we’re not proud of. Tyril’s had to live his in front of the public eye. He’ll talk about it when he feels ready to... but his past doesn’t define him, none of ours do.”
I nod, understanding that this is the last we’ll speak of the subject. She smiles as if in truce, telling me that I don’t have to banish myself to the dining booth and that no one will pull any pranks on me if I sleep in the shared bedroom.
I barely catch any sleep anyway.
There’s a ferocity in the way they protect each other that I didn’t notice at first — it could be subtle sometimes, like in the way Volari always checks in with each of the band members every night before going to bed (even though Starfury usually brushes him off); or in the way Imtura always makes sure every one stays hydrated (feel free to interpret that however you wish, whichever way is true); or in the way Ellarious always has some form of baked good running in the oven, more often someone else’s favorite rather than her own.
(I learn the hard way that no one is allowed to get in between Imtura and her cupcakes. No one.)
It’s also plain as day whenever they’re on stage together, their set list a carefully curated show that highlights each member’s strengths without anyone getting overworked. Everyone’s always quick to catch each other whenever they hit snags along the road — there’s a moment in one of the shows when Volari’s mic suddenly gets cut off and Starfury swoops in without missing a beat, a small nod of the former’s head seemingly the only cue he needs, the trust between them implicit.
When I had asked earlier why he’d joined BLADES, Starfury simply shrugged, as if it was no big deal.
“It was by accident. I happened to be at one of their shows and they needed a bass player. We kind of just… worked and we’ve played together ever since.”
But this kind of chemistry doesn’t just happen by accident. No, this is the product of months and months of hard work, of opinions clashing and arguments spanning days before sitting down and realizing it’s not impossible to see eye to eye; it’s battles won and battles lost together, respect earned and trust merited.
To call them just another band seems too small a word almost. Insufficient.
They’re kind of like a family.
(If your typical family involved regular knife and axe-throwing contests, that is.
... it’s best not to ask.)
-
Tensions are high backstage at Deadwood Festival Grounds.
Volari has been pacing around non-stop. Ellarious looks like she’s using every bit of her willpower not to bite her fingernails. Imtura keeps violently tapping her drumsticks together. Starfury’s got his arms crossed in a corner, brows furrowed.
Graywater is doing a handstand for no apparent reason.
The anxiety is understandable — tonight’s a crucial moment for the band.
With only one more show before the grand finale at Whitetower Stadium, all the bands are doing their best to retain the crowd’s favor, each playing well-established fan favorites, saving the riskier song choices for the finale.
That is, everyone except BLADES.
They’re planning to debut two new songs tonight, both of which written solely by Starfury.
It’s a ballsy move on its own — no one’s exactly itching to drop the ball on their fans this close to the end — but add in the fact that Starfury hasn’t released any solo-written music since the Duskraven fallout and you’ve got the makings of a battle that could either go incredibly right or disastrously wrong.
Let’s back up a bit.
After the Duskraven breakup, Starfury had gone into something of a hiatus (if that’s what you call disappearing off the face of the entertainment industry) before dropping the 13-track self-written album, “Honor,” without prior notice or promotion. Fans were ecstatic to hear from him after his sudden break, but critics were less enthused, calling the album ‘a brash, arrogant attempt at flipping the metaphorical finger at Duskraven that ultimately falls short’, noting the clear absence of Duskraven’s touch in his music — all technicality, no soul.
Starfury’s penned a couple of songs with BLADES since, spanning genres as colorful and diverse as its writers, but there hasn’t been a solo venture since Honor, leaving long-time Starfury fans anxious to hear him take lead again.
Graywater calls everyone into a circle, locking eyes with Starfury as she gives his hand a squeeze.
She makes a speech that I‘m not privy to — but everyone is visibly more resolute after she speaks, each raising their fists to meet in the middle of the circle.
“I’m honored to be on this journey with you all,” I hear Starfury share, a glittering smile spreading on Volari’s lips at the statement.
“I knew you liked us!” he says, crossing the circle to throw an arm around Starfury’s shoulders, pulling him close.
“Group hug!” Ellarious laughs and Imtura closes the circle into a solid embrace.
Starfury appears to be in shock — as if this is the first time this has happened — but he recovers quickly, a quietly contented smile on his face.
The last streaks of daylight have disappeared by the time they’re called to stage, the crowd restless from a long afternoon under the blistering heat.
Darkness has fallen.
But then the opening chords to fan-favorite “Murderous Masquerade” cut through the evening air, a flurry of flashing lights bursting through the sky, and the Deadwood comes alive.
Volari takes center stage in his flashy black and gold ensemble, working the crowd with such ease that it’s no question why he’s been dubbed the band’s de facto showman — he’s frankly just mesmerizing to watch.
Next up is “The Priestess and the Warrior,” an epic tale crammed into four and a half minutes of heart-racing drum beats — provided by the insanely talented Imtura — with a tender piano-driven bridge near the close, Ellarious’ heartbreaking vocals driving the whole thing home.
Graywater takes lead in the third number, “Flirting with Monsters,” a delicate neo R&B number that sounds nothing like the title suggests, her earnest, airy vocals lulling you into a comfortable, almost dream-like state as she entices her lover to stay.
The one thing common between the seemingly weird mishmash of genres is Starfury’s steady bassline, providing a much needed thread of cohesion to the set list. Where Volari, Imtura, Graywater, and even Ellarious tackle their music with the raw aggression of fresh blood on stage, Starfury attacks with quiet, seasoned finesse, his expertise evident in tracks like “Watch your back (or I’ll watch it for you)” and “Drakna Queen” — two unconventionally energetic numbers that would be difficult to listen to live if not for Starfury’s sure hand bringing them harmony.
“Alright, we’re gonna slow things down for a bit,” Graywater announces, eyes sparkling with excitement as she looks at Starfury. “Tyril’s got a new song and we want you guys to be the first to hear it.”
By now, I’ve seen enough of Starfury’s performances to say that he’s not a nervous performer. Even in the earlier stages of his career, there was always a quiet assuredness about him — which could have also been easily called arrogance — and while that’s still present now, there’s something different about the way he interacts with the crowd, a sense of humility present in the way he put his hands together and gives them a brief bow before he sits himself in front of the piano.
“I would like to dedicate this to a person very special to me,” he begins, his fingers gentle on the keys, a soft, lilting melody dancing in the air.
(He’s not even the least bit subtle about the way he looks at Graywater.)
“She has reminded me, time and again, that hope and love, when we allow it, can shine the brightest light in the dark.” Graywater shakes her head as if to shrug in nonchalance, but she meets his eyes dead on, her smile beaming with pride.
Turning to the crowd, Starfury adds, “I hope this gives you as much joy as you’ve given me. This one’s called ‘Kilvali.’”
For the next minute, it’s just Starfury and the piano, the world quiet as his voice fills the air. If there was ever any doubt that Starfury had lost his vocal prowess, there wouldn’t be any now. His voice is clear and strong — reaching even the farthest row of people on the music grounds — albeit with a softness now that I’ve never heard from him before, his attachment to his music feeling infinitely more personal.
“All my moments with you are worth whatever pain that came before,” he sings, his voice soaring as the rest of the band join him in the second verse. The performance is even more powerful with the added instrumentation.
Tiny cellphone flashlights illuminate the crowd as they sway their hands in time to the song, the emotion in Starfury’s voice rolling out in waves.
Twitter user @notmxwllbmnt13 sums it up nicely:
SJSKJSJSK TYRIL STARFURY KILLED ME TONIGHT!! ALL!! THE!! FEELS!!
(It really was beautiful.)
The crowd cheers as the song draws to a close, but the battle’s not over yet (as Starfury would tell me himself later) — the true test lying in whether or not his second song proves a testament to his newfound voice in songwriting… or if it’s just a one-time stroke of luck.
“If it’s alright with you, we’d like to play you another new one,” he says and the applause is deafening when he turns over the mic to Volari, the latter pulling him into a one-armed hug before taking to the crowd.
If Duskraven’s interviews post-breakup are to be believed, Starfury has never — not once — written a song that wasn’t intended for himself. (She claimed to have co-written plenty of solos for Starfury, but he allegedly never returned the favor.) A quick glance at his repertoire would make this allegation appear true.
“It is true,” he tells me simply when I bring it up later in the tour bus. (Despite the coolness of his voice, I notice him shift a little in his seat.) “I was... unconfident, extending my words to other artists like that. I was also prideful and arrogant — afraid to face the judgment and criticism of my peers, and for that, I truly am sorry to Kaya. She deserved better from me as a partner.”
It seems Starfury has taken that incident to heart. Listening to “Purple Dreams” with Volari’s teasing falsetto on the forefront, it becomes clear that Starfury wrote this with the former’s vocals in mind, the flirtatious mix of his sassy vocal riffs and playful onstage antics giving the song a delicious, intoxicating energy.
It’s probably the most experimental I’ve heard from Starfury as a writer, both in terms of lyricism and melody.
“I’ve learned a lot this last year, creating music with BLADES,” he explains. “Not only did I find a new perspective on songwriting thanks to them, but my bandmates also gave me the courage to try things outside of my comfort zone and to allow myself to make mistakes. They inspire me.”
Years ago, he was dubbed as stiff and awkward outside of the theater stage, with Duskraven providing all the charm in their partnership, but now, on stage with BLADES — as Volari points his sultry gaze at him, singing his own lyrics to him — Starfury smirks, leaning ever so slightly against the showman as his hands tease along the guitar strings, driving the crowd wild.
It’s clear by the end of the song that Starfury has won over the crowd, and for once, he actually seems to revel in it, his smile beaming as he takes in the applause.
The rest of the band are even more thrilled for him, each leaving their posts to engulf him in another hug.
He doesn’t hesitate this time, allowing the fond gesture in front of their adoring crowd, each of them savoring the quiet moment, and I think, out of all the times I’ve seen Starfury on stage, this has to be my favorite version of him.
In the company of his friends, lifting and supporting each other, Tyril Starfury shines brighter than any star.
“We haven’t talked about what we’re doing after yet,” Starfury admits when I ask him about the future of BLADES after Morella Fest. (Each of the members are also solo artists in their own right, after all.) “But whatever happens at the end of the tour, we’ll always have each other, regardless of whether the band continues or not. I can’t imagine my life without these people now and I hope I never have to.”
He’s smiling as he says this, watching his bandmates fight over the last levenfruit before he excuses himself to join them, Graywater and Ellarious easily making space for him in the dining booth, Volari and Imtura rounding out the little world that now seems completely their own.

Hundreds of Tomorrows - (Mal x MC) - Blades of Light & Shadows
Hundreds of Tomorrows
Word Count: 3053
A/N: This is a little thing that I picture starting and happening before Nia, Tyril and MC (Raine) go behind the glass wall where only those with magic can pass. This was from chapter 11 (I think?) when they’re in the catacombs. I’m not very good at remembering details from the chapters.
I took a few liberties to change up what exactly happened behind the wall so it’s not exactly in line with the rest of BOLAS (please don’t hate me or send me messages about how wrong I am). Also, I freaking LOVE Threep and his banter/relationship with Mal.
This story comes at the request of @choicesobsessed  who sent a prompt for “Is that blood? ...No?” from a prompt list I posted a while ago. It fit perfectly with this idea I already had so ta-da!
Hope everyone reading this is doing well and staying safe! Please enjoy!
xoxo

“Kit, a word please?” Mal said inquisitively, his eyebrow raised in mock curiosity.  He motioned for Raine to follow him to a more secluded area.
“Keep your voice down.” He instructed as Raine followed him.
“Keep my voice down?” She questioned.
“You do realize the rest of the group is right over there…”
Mal sighed in agitation.
“Okay then, m’lady, let’s talk behind this here rock. Is that better?”
The two of them circled around a rather large boulder that was still not much further from the group.
“Oh much. Much better.” She smirked. “What’s your deal? We don’t have a lot of time and we need to check out what’s behind that magic wall.”
“Are you sure about this?” Mal asked, searching her eyes for the truth. “I mean like, really, totally, 100% sure?”
“Sure about what?” Raine asked, confused.
“Going behind the magic wall with only elf-boy to protect you? I don’t think it’s safe.”  Mal cut right to the point.
“Ooohhh….” Raine teased. “I see what this is about…”
She folded her arms in front of her chest and leaned back against the rock that was supposedly concealing their conversation.
“Nothing. It’s not about anything.” Mal squinted his eyes in frustration, stumbling a little bit and working very hard to make his point. He didn’t want to be obvious, but apparently he was failing miserably.
“Mmhmm.” Raine scoffed.  “Listen, I don’t only have Tyril to protect me. Nia is coming and so is Threep.”
“Raine.”
Mal looked down his nose at her, wishing she would realize this was actually not a time to joke. For him to be serious meant it really indeed was…serious.
“You cannot be serious. You think that cat-bat is going to be able to save you?”
“He is a nesper, Mal, not a cat-bat. You really need to stop calling him that. And I don’t know why you’re wasting my time right now.”
She stood up straighter, ready to confront him.
“We will be safe. Everything is fine. You’re acting this way mainly because you don’t want to be left here with Imtura AND you’re afraid of missing out on adventure. You’re upset that you’re not being included.”
Mal’s mouth hung open ready to protest, but Raine quickly closed the space between them kissed him on the cheek. She lingered a little bit and whispered in his ear.
“But I do think it’s awfully cute you’re so protective of me.”
She pulled away, looking him in the eye and giving him a quick wink, before walking away.
“Raine!”
Mal called out.
“Wait!”
She turned around, shoulders slumped, groaning in frustration. “What is it now?!”
“Just, be careful. Please. I…I don’t like not going in there with you…if anything happened – I – I –“
Raine stopped joking around, once she realized the serious tone Mal was using.
“Don’t worry – I’ll come back to you.” She nodded, confirming what she just said.
Raine then jogged towards Nia and Tyril who were waiting at the entrance to the wall.
--
“Look lover boy, I know that you’re smitten with our very own land rat, but you have got to calm down.”
Imtura was perched on top of a large black rock while Mal paced nervously back and forth in front of her, tossing a small pebble up and down.
“If you don’t stop tossing that ridiculous little rock, I’m going to smash you one more time into that magic wall and leave you for dead.”
Mal ignored her, continued pacing, but did at least stop tossing the rock.
“See here – there’s one thing that us sneaky humans have over your orc tribe. We have this sixth sense. This gut feeling about things. And I’m telling you something’s not right about all this. Any of this…it’s just really, really messed up…”
Mal was suddenly distracted looking deep into the eyes of a half-charred statue looking rock that had grabbed his attention.
“I mean, what the hell is that? This is not normal.” He said as he gestured to the piece of art he found.
“Nothing about this is normal. Pull your head out of your arse, boy. Look around you – has anything we’ve experienced the past few weeks been normal?
If you’re looking for normal you best leave now because it’s only going to get weirder if you ask me…” Imtura spat, picking something out of her jowls.
Mal mad a face, clearly disgusted by her behavior. “You’re one of a kind, you know that, Im?”
He wiped his hands along the front of his vest, suddenly feeling dirty. He huffed loudly as he plopped down on the ground.
“When are they going to be baaaack?!” He whined, keeping his eyes closed. “This is the worst!”
“That’s them. Mal!” Imtura was laughing, happy to see the rest of their crew. “They’re alive. They made it. Here they come!”
Threep was leading the crew, actually using his wings to fly, and hovering a little bit in front of everyone.
“Mal before you see her you need to know that…”
“I am fine!” Raine called from the back of the group leaning on Tyril and limping a bit. She was holding her side and trying her best not to grimace.
“Raine? What happened? Is she okay? Are you okay?”
Tyril gingerly helped Raine to sit down, Nia followed and tried to console Mal.
“She really is fine, Mal. I can heal her, don’t worry.  I just need a moment…”
“Is that blood?!” Mal asked, pointing to Raine’s side where a dark spot had begun to form beneath her hands.
“…No?” Raine lied, not wanting to upset him.
“Why is everyone more worried about Mal than the actual person who is injured?!” Threep squawked still flying above everyone else.
“Fix her. Fix her now.” Mal ordered, looking at Nia. “Do it. Let’s go – why are we waiting around?”
“I don’t want her to.” Raine’s voice was raised slightly and forceful.
“We do need to make a decision. We got what we came for, it’s time we head back. The longer we are here the longer we are in danger.” Tyril explained, adding pressure to the current situation.
“Mal – calm down.” Raine hissed, through gritted teeth, obviously in pain. “We need to get out of here. I don’t want Nia wasting life on me and I know I can make it. Let’s go.”
Mal tried to protest but Raine shot him down immediately with a cold and hard stare.
He resigned himself to the fact that Raine was not changing her mind.
“Let me help…” he tried to loop her arm around his shoulder, but Raine was stubborn.
“Raine – are you sure?” Tyril asked one final time.
Nia was nervously biting her lip, Imtura was staying quiet and Threep was nosing through Raine’s bag while the rest of them looked to one another to make a decision.
“Too bad jerky doesn’t make you feel better like it does me.” He chuckled, his head popping up out of the bag with a mouthful.
The entire group swiveled their heads to scowl at him.
Threep began to nervously laugh as he lowered himself back into the bag. “Wrong time to joke?” He asked, retreating quickly.
“Why does everyone keep asking if I’m sure?” Raine growled.  “First Mal, now you, Tyril. Have I ever not known my own mind?”
“Don’t answer that.” Threep instructed from inside Raine’s bag. Imtura had taken ownership of the satchel so that Raine wouldn’t be saddled with it.
--
The group walked in silence most of the way back to the Starfury house. Everyone was exhausted from the information they had found out about Kaya and the news they’d now be looking for a shard at the masquerade the next day. It seemed as though this troupe would never know a moment of rest – they continued on from one adventure to another in their quest against the Shadow Court.
Once they arrived at the manor, it was without question that each one of them would retire to their quarters in order to sleep well and rest before the ball. Without saying a word, all of them with the exception of Raine, communicated with each other, proving their trust and reliance on their teammates.
Imtura checked on Threep once more before handing the bag to Mal and telling everyone goodnight. Tyril nodded as he passed Raine over to him as well.
“She’s all yours.” He muttered under his breath.
“Raine, be well. I’m just down the hall if you need anything.” Nia cooed, almost prancing along the way to her room.
“I’ll take it from here.” Mal nodded, standing behind Raine.
She turned to look at him and arched an eyebrow. “What exactly are you taking where?”
“Lead the way, kit. I’m just gonna make sure you’re all tucked in, then you’ll be rid of me.”
--
Once to her room, Mal helped Threep out of the bag, accepting his content purring as thanks.
“Yeah yeah, calm down you crossbreed.” Mal stood up and waited by the door for Raine to get settled.
She was sitting on the edge of the bed, still holding her side.
“I’m not going to ask about it because I quite like my head being attached to my body…” Mal began.
Raine tried not to smile but she couldn’t help it. Being alone with Mal always made her feel better.
“I’ll be leaving you alone now if you’re all right. Did the bleeding actually stop?” He questioned, opening the door, about to leave.
“I’m not sure.” Raine said softly, suddenly preoccupied with the hem of her shirt. “I think…I think I need your help.”
“I’m sorry. What was that? Not sure I heard you correctly. Did you say you…you need my help?” Mal teased, closing the door and moving closer to her on the bed.
“Mal. Now isn’t the time. This is hard for me.” Raine answered, truthfully.
“Ah. Forgive me – it’s a real bucket of rainbows and sunshine for me right now too.” He tried to joke, sitting down next to her on the bed.
Silence hung in the air heavy and weighted as they stared stoically at one another. She looked at him and cursed herself for making him feel bad when all he was trying to do earlier was show he cared. He looked at her hoping she would one day understand just what she meant to him.
Clearing his throat, his voice weak and coming out more like a hoarse whisper, Mal asked, “What, um…what can I help you with? What do you need?”
“I need you to look at the wound and see if the bleeding has stopped.” Rain responded, snapping out of her silent reverie.
Her mind had suddenly travelled to the memory of Mal’s lips on hers and their skin touching together, the fire it created. This fire was not like the magic she was learning to make; it was different. Hotter. Deeper. Less fleeting. More substantial and real.
Mal nodded as Raine pulled her shirt up slightly, to reveal a small gash about an inch and a half long. The bleeding had stopped, and it didn’t appear to be deep but Mal could not know for sure.
“It’s no longer bleeding but that is the only thing I’m certain of.” He held her hand now, trying his best to be soft and caring.
“Do you have medicine?” He asked, suddenly standing up. “In your bag, the salve you’ve made before. Do you have any of it left?”
Raine was struggling to stay awake, so tired and fatigued from the day’s events and now weak due to her injury. She mumbled something as her eyes started to close.
“Raine! Raine.  Stay with me for just a little bit longer.” Mal was pulling item after item out of Raine’s bag.
“A stinger? You saved this from the Drakna?” He asked, completely dumbfounded as he pulled more and more random things from her satchel.
“Good gods you can hold a lot of stuff in here!” Mal smiled, looking at her now laying down on the bed.
“Huzzah! I found it!” He shouted triumphantly and held the small bottle up above his head as though it was the most sought-after treasure in the land.
Proud of himself, he sat down next to her on the bed as she was still fighting sleep.
“C’mere girl. Just hold still. That’s it.”
He softly applied the cream to her injury, rubbing around the edges as tenderly as his calloused fingers would allow.
“I’m sorry if it hurts.” He whispered, watching her face for any reaction. Her eyes were closed, and her breathing was steady.
Finding an old piece of cloth in her bag, Mal poured more of the salve on the rag and was able to tie it off around Raine’s small waist. She was quiet and compliant.
“I don’t know that I’ve ever seen you stay completely silent before, kit.  It’s kind of nice.” He mocked, drawing a big smile from the girl.
“Mal. That’s enough. Thank you. I’m quite settled now.”
He was now going through some drawers in a large armoir found in the corner of Raine’s room. Finding what he was looking for he tossed a long white nightgown on the bed.
“This’ll do. You need to change – I won’t look.”
“Yes, you will.” Raine challenged. “I wasn’t born yesterday, you know.”
“You’re probably right…” He scratched his chin, deep in thought about what he might see if he kept his eyes open.
Snapping himself out of it, he continued.
“…but here, I’ll help and then when you need me too I’ll look away. I promise.” He said those last two words with a sincerity Raine wasn’t sure existed in him.
“As I’ve said before, you do continue to surprise me, Mal the Rogue.”
Raine chuckled lightly, pulling the shirt she was wearing over her head. She winced a bit and Mal assisted as best he could, closing his eyes and turning his head away when she disrobed completely.
Mal helped her back into bed having turned down the covers, letting her head settle on two pillows, getting her under the blankets and stuffing her in tight.
Threep was out like a light in the corner, snoring loudly. Mal made note of it but decided against a comment, trying instead to focus all his attention on Raine.
“Thank you.” She whispered, looking up at him before her eyes closed for the night. “For all of this. I don’t deserve it after the way I treated you, today.  Really.”
“Now, now. I’m sure I’ll find a way for you to make it up to me sometime soon.”
She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. “Will you stay with me, please?” She mumbled, falling into a rhythmic sleep almost immediately.
“Yes!” Mal fist pumped instinctively, getting what he had hoped for.
He said a silent prayer of thanks to the gods and walked around the bed to the other side. He laid down his weapons but as he took off his boots, realized again just how loud Threep was snoring. He threw one of his boots at him, waking the nesper up with a hiss.
“What was that for?!” Threep was more than agitated.
“You’re snoring!” Mal whispered harshly. “I’m staying the night and I need to get some shuteye.”
“You’re staying the night?” Threep’s eyes grew wide. “I should have gone with Imtura.”
“Yeah, you should have.” Mal quipped, “She’s the only one of the group who snores louder than you and wouldn’t be bothered.”
Threep stood up, made three circles and laid back down again, nestling against the wall and falling asleep again with a loud and dramatic huff.
Mal worked to get into bed but was careful not to disturb Raine. He stayed on top of the covers that Raine was underneath. He quickly realized in his effort to prop her up on the pillows, that meant there weren’t any left on the bed. So he got out of bed once again and grabbed the satchel to rest his head upon.
He sighed to himself with his hands resting on his stomach, content to be settled next to Raine, knowing she was okay, and most of all, that she wanted him to be with her, at least for tonight.
Realizing the adrenaline of this moment was keeping him awake, he rolled over onto his side to stare at the sleeping woman next to him.
“Will I stay?” Mal said quietly as his eyes took in her features.
He loved the light freckles that danced over her face, beneath her eyes and over the bridge of her nose. The way her lips were a soft shade of pink and her cheeks a natural rose; her golden hair in a tight braid that always rested on one side of her head, exposing the area of her neck that he knew he’d love to kiss over and over again.
Mal could not believe himself. He had never felt anything like these intense feelings. He was in shock that he already felt so strongly for someone he didn’t really know all that well.
He was completely certain that he loved the feeling of her hand in his. And he knew something was real if he was truthfully scared to think of anything happening to her when he wasn’t around to protect her.
He reached across her and took her hand once again, then softly and sweetly laced his fingers in between hers, his thumb rubbing small smoothing circles across her knuckles.
“What are you doing to me, kit? You may be making an honest man out of me…and I have never, ever, wanted to be one of those until now…”
He brought her hand to his lips and let them linger there for a while. He didn’t want to take his gaze off her for fear something would happen to change the moment, to change the way she felt about him, to change their relationship, if that’s indeed what it was.
He silently brushed a single tendril of hair off her face and leaned forward to kiss her forehead.
“Will I stay, Raine?” He whispered, smiling to himself.
“That’s not even a question. I will stay tonight and hundreds of tomorrows if you’ll have me, sweet girl.”

Everything is all still so new to us and I think we are such doting parents; we are just always there but Robyn is showing me how to burp my daughter “did you not burp like your other kids?” Robyn asked “I didn’t care for it, I picked them up and then they did the rest, they meaning my mom so this is all new to me. You trust me too Robyn, I feel it and you make me feel like I mean something, they didn’t, I was just a money magnet” Robyn huffed out “well I want you to be so active, so I want you to try this” Robyn placed Fenty in my arms “so you need to just prop her up or over your shoulder, prop her up by resting her head against your hand, she will be ok. I am just so excited to show you off. Her Christmas tutu, Mel sent her it and I am so excited to dress her” sticking my tongue out as I carefully propped Fenty up against my hand, moving my head to the side to see what she is doing. Her eyes opened a little but then she closed them “just rub her back, you will get used to it. Also I will be pumping soon, and then you can just get her bottle and feed her when I am not here” rubbing her back slowly “this feels so weird” I grinned saying “she looks so comfy with resting her head against your hand, I still do feel tired but I need to get up. Help my mom with Christmas food, I did buy you a little something for Christmas too” my eyes widened “I did too” I laughed “we said no gifts and look at that, we get gifts. We funny. But this is the gift, she is our gift and I am so happy” Fenty is not making any movements with her burping thing “I know Chris, but you see all the positive comments on the post about you helping me? It made me so happy to see, I want that for you. I’ve just received so much love and so have you” I was thinking that the post may have backfired but clearly not, blogs have gone crazy over it.
I feel so happy, it’s been a while since I have had this feeling in a long time. I feel so overjoyed that I have my family, Robyn is wanting to surprise me with Fenty’ Christmas outfit, I can’t believe she had this all set out, did she know it was coming early, but it was a gift from Mel, I mean it feels like they knew she would arrive early but I can’t wait to see her, I know she will look extra beautiful “are you ready!?” Robyn shouted “for what Robyn? Can I see my grandchild?” Hearing Monica from the door, Robyn went to the baby room to dress her and I think Monica wants to see “then go into the bedroom, I will surprise you altogether. Dennis is just taking some pictures” pulling the cover up a little more, I’m naked under this “morning Chris” Monica said “hey, Merry Christmas” I am tired, I think I may go to sleep before going down, have a little nap “and you, I’ve been up so early preparing this food. I want it to be perfect for you all. First Christmas for my grandbaby” Monica stood near the bed “and it’s nice, I’m happy. I can’t wait to take some family photos of us” Dennis walked in smiling “an elf with a camera!” Dennis shouted; he’s dressed like an elf “are you still filming?” Frowning at him “of course I am, you looking rough Chris” waving him off “where is my daughter? Does she look extra cute” I want to see her “such a doll Chris” Robyn finally walked in with a red onesie on “oh and Chris you need to wear your onesie too” Robyn said, “a what!?” Is she serious “look at Fenty in her first Christmas tutu” poking my lips out “oh my baby, look at her” she got on a red tutu and it says my first Christmas “oh wow, she is beautiful. Look at this” Robyn placed her in my arms as I cooed out “oh my god, she is beautiful, and this red headband. I am so impressed. I love it, daddy is impressed” I find it so adorable even though Fenty is asleep she still looks beautiful.
I tried to not get involved in this whole bullshit, but Robyn won’t drop it, pulling down around my crotch area “this is dumb” I said not happy with this shit at all “how can you say that!? Oh. My god, we are matching. And look at that big dick in that too” Robyn winked at me, frowning at her not pleased “awww no please don’t do that, look at me. I have this little pouch stomach because of the baby but I’m wearing it still. I’m not really confident in doing it but it’s our first Christmas Chris, I want to to be perfect. But I got prepped for this day” I didn’t even know Robyn had pouch, now she mentioned it. She actually does “it’s ok baby, you look beautiful. You’re so full of life, you just had the baby too. Sorry” I feel bad for complaining “don’t be sorry Chris, it’s not that. I just know you hate it but I just think why not, we look cute” Robyn held my hand “I guess, but I didn’t even notice that. You just had a baby like why aren’t you in bed and in pain” I’m confused, I know Amikka was mad annoying and I wanted to relax “natural is better Chris, I don’t have the after affects of the drugs, I was in control of me. I didn’t tear, I have some pain but my body is working, I’m wearing a diaper too, with the after blood, but I’m doing well Chris, I’m happy that I’ve got this family, I want to be happy with you all. Enjoy this day” biting on my bottom lip as I hugged Robyn “you look so cute with this on though my baby” Robyn said in my ear “thank you dumpling, I love you so much” kissing on her neck “I love you too, but thank you. I can’t actually thank you enough with how much you have done for me already, I just thank you” moving back from the hug “don’t be, you believe in me Robyn. That gives me fire to do better. I just want the best for you” Robyn smiled a little at me “you’re so cute” Robyn keeps on saying that.
Laid out on the bed waiting for Royalty to FaceTime me, I promised I would watch her open her gifts, she is awake but is taking her time “aye!” I pointed at Robyn laughing “what?” Robyn is taking pictures of me in this onesie, I do not think so “look how adorable you look? Just laying there waiting, your dick looks huge, are you wearing boxers!?” Shaking my head laughing “Chris, you can’t go down like that. You better put boxers on. I will crop that part, that dick mine now so only I can look” smiling at the phone, Robyn makes me laugh “are you smiling at me or whatever you got on the phone?” Moving my phone to the side “nah, this big breasted woman” rolling my eyes at Robyn “of course it’s you. Where you posting that?” She is there being sneaky with photos “instastory, and I typed y’all think I got him in a onesie” she is annoying “whatever kangaroo” Robyn gasped “Christopher!” She spat, she is flabbergasted at that “momma pouch, you wanted my attention” locking my phone “I would sit on you but I can’t, my body won’t be able to take that” I chuckled “I’m sorry, I don’t want to upset you. I was joking” I’m a dickhead “I’m not upset, I know you was joking. But posted it anyways, later you will reveal you are wearing one” taking in a deep breath, she meant that too. Answering the FaceTime and waited for it to connect “daddy!” Royalty shouted “Merry Christmas my baby, look at your dress” waving at the camera “mommy said you got it me” I grinned nodding my head, I don’t know about that but Nia helped me out so I guess she did “I did momma and you look good I like it, I miss you boo” Royalty giggled “I love you daddy!! Meme here!” I sighed out “oh right that is ok” I can hear a little commotion in the background “why can’t I tell him?” Royalty is talking to someone “Roro baby, let’s ignore that. Look at me” I ain’t about to have that ruin our moment “we come meme home to open presents” I was thinking something is different with that background “you have been dodging my calls” feeling a hand on my shoulder, looking up at Robyn “who is that?” She mouthed “this isn’t about you, can you go! Actually where is Aeko!?” I’m so confused on why she is here “no, we not doing doing this on Royalty’ day!” Nia shouted “you can go, my daughter wants her time with her dad. Sort this shit out now Joyce” shaking my head “pick up your phone you dickhead, you pick up!” Amikka shouted at me “why are you swearing in front of my daughter, you got issues. Why are you angry” my eyes widened seeing Nia punch Amikka in the face “Oh my god!!” I shouted and then screamed “what happened!?” I can’t even take, I am screaming.
Robyn grabbed my arm “tell me!?” She spat “Nia punched amikka” I laughed “daddy!” Lifting my phone up “I ran away” my daughter is all out of breath “are you ok? I’m sorry that happened” Nia can fight, she punches her straight in her face without flinching, she just did it. I was not ready at all for that “Royalty are you ok?” Nia is here “sorry you had to see that we are going to go home now. Ok? Chris you need to deal with that shit, I am over it she said she wasn’t going to be there, but she was and ruined this moment. I will FaceTime you when we get back” nodding my head “cool, I love you, speak soon” disconnecting the FaceTime “mhmm” Robyn walked off, that means she got something on her mind but isn’t saying shit “tell me” I said “nothing, maybe she is right. You need to deal with her, call her” Robyn said “on speaker of course” nodding my head, the boss has spoken so I need to call, I wonder what is on her mind though “I am sorry though, like this is not your issue” tapping on Amikka’ name, pressing the speaker icon as it rang out “don’t be, I know she would be an issue. I am not shocked, I think it is just so sad to see that Royalty is being affected, she used that as an opportunity and took it. She is clout chasing, her child is in Germany or whatever and she is with your deluded mom, tell me this. Do I have permission to say what I want?” nodding my head “you’re my wife” I don’t care what Robyn wants to say, she can say it “you deadbeat Chris, that is your fault. You did this, she punched me” Amikka is so irrational “you’re driving yourself crazy, why are you even in Cali, you’re supposed to be with Aeko, are you crazy?” she is really crazy “I love you Chris, I really do and you chose her. You chose the woman that ruined you, you’re known as a woman beater because of her because she did it, and she hit you. She will fucking throw you, what you done to me you will see it in your daughters! Even your mom knows this, you have hurt me so much. I can’t do this, Joyce I can’t” looking up at Robyn, this is so fucking dramatic “you did this mess Chris, you didn’t deal with nothing. You ran off, you left everything. What about us, the people that are there for you. Me, your mother” Robyn sighed out “hi, hey Joyce. Can you make sure that is on speakerphone!” Robyn shouted; the phone line went ever so quiet “are you sure?” Robyn said in a whisper “you’re a whore, you’re crazy as him. You both fucking deserve each other. You fucked with his mind, you made Drake and him hate each other, you are a bitch” she is so brave “watch your mouth Amikka, I am the reason you have that life. Now lower your fucking tone, act like you know and give some fucking respect” I am not having that she can swear at me.
Robyn doesn’t seem phased at all “right, yeah. This bitch has the man you want, so what is the deal. I do not care for you, never will. Now you hear me out, both of you. I think it’s time you both have your own lives, it’s time for you both to fly on your own instead of being Chris Brown’ mother and Chris Brown’ baby mother number two. You know what, actually Joyce. You have to be the worst person for allowing some jumped up clout chasing fucking bitch take advantage of Chris, he needed help not a mother looking for face lifts now. You changed, the VA woman I met is not the woman I know, she loved and would hate Chris to get some bitch like her pregnant. Now you are cutting into my Christmas time. Listen to me loud and clear, it’s time for you both to get jobs. Chris will pay for the spawn he created, but your lifestyle is a no, sweetie. Rules are different over here, he doesn’t need to pay for your living fees, he was being nice but me, I am not. You are playing with my family so now I play with yours. Chris will see his son, alone and you will get a fucking job bitch. I have done my work and I was coming for you so Merry Christmas to you, check your post and reply or the lawyer fees will tally up and Joyce, Chris won’t pay for your lifestyle, I seen those payments. You’re still his mother so I guess, give you a chance. It makes me sad to think that he was putting up with this!? Two women getting at him, forcing him to do it and he did it for peace, well I want war and I will win” Robyn disconnected the call, I feel like Robyn didn’t breathe saying that, it’s like she was wanting to say that and prepared for it but was waiting it out. Putting my head down as my lower lip trembled “don’t be upset, it’s Christmas. It sucks for them; I promise you that your mother will be crawling back” shit just hurts, things like that play in my mind and I do try to ignore that “come on,  I didn’t buy this onesie for you to be sad as hell. We onesie buddies now” I laughed a little wiping the tear that fell “I won’t have anyone disrespect you, I will build you” nodding my head, I believe her and I don’t deserve it.

Lena isn't hypocritical if she gets mad at Kara.
Ok, so I'm still seeing some people saying that Lena is hypocritical to be mad at Kara because she was keeping secrets from her. The main one being the Harun El and giving humans superpowers.
Again, I don't think we're watching the same show, or if we are these folk really arent paying attention.
Lena told EVERYONE at Thanksgiving her hypothetical theory of giving people super powers and was immediately shot down. Now Lena doesn't need to stop doing something just because her friends only gave the idea 60 seconds of thought. The Superfriends aren't Lena's board, or her bosses. So why would she bother to tell them she was going ahead with her research when she knows they already disapprove? That would just be pointless.
Now cast your minds back, Lena TOLD James what she was doing. James APPROVED and praised her for it. His dubious look while she was sleeping was for him and him alone. He never told Lena he had reservations. The only issue James had with her research was her partnering with the government, not the idea itself. (Plus someone seemed pretty happy to keep those powers, or am I the only one who saw James enjoying training at the Fortress?)
Alex, Alex wasnt a fan of the idea, but then she was mind wiped and no longer had a personal connection to Supergirl. When Alex was working with Lena at the DEO she looked through that microscope and realized what Lena was doing. "So that conversation at Thanksgiving wasn't hypothetical?" She wasn't against the idea at all, the only concern Alex had was that it could put Lena in danger. Then you know what she did? She worked every day with Lena on it. She even told James when she visited Cat Co to see Kara that she was working with Lena. James acted butt hurt at the mere mention of his ex but he didn't protest what they were doing even though he already knew.
Brainy, he wasn't all that interested at Thanksgiving if I remember correctly. But Brainy was at the DEO and he worked work Lena and Alex on the Harun El without any protest. Brainy knowing full well what Lena was doing, what Alex was helping with and yet still devoted to being Lena's friend. To be honest Brainy seems to understand Lena better than anyone including Kara.
So Kara didn't know? Now here's the thing, Kara was there when Lena suggested it and didn't like the idea. Now remember Kara to Lena is just a civilian reporter, one that again already said she didn't want to give this idea the time of day. Lena may be best friends with Kara but there is a line that Lena won't cross when it comes to her research or business dealings. Why would she tell her civilian (reporter) best friend her secret work with the DEO? She wouldn't of course, technically there should be a bloody clause in the government contract to prevent that. "No telling Media acting CEO's or reporters". I mean that's just common sense. Lena didn't give Kara all the info when she was working with Rhea, even when Kara asked. She didn't even tell Kara about her work on the Lexo suit, because why would she tell Kara the reporter EVERYTHING she does?
Alex didn't tell Kara either, because just like Lena she believes her sister is just a civilian reporter. Alex the super secret DEO Director isn't going to go home and have sister night with Kara and tell her all the governments secrets. ( She would of it she knew she was Supergirl, but she's in the same oblivious boat that Lena's in). Alex may not know who Kara is, but it doesn't change her morals. It just meant she was finally free to see another picture without Supergirl blinders on.
You know who else didn't tell Kara? James didn't. Not one word. Actually kudos to him for not betraying Lena (again!)
You know who else didn't tell Kara? Brainy didn't either.
Kara only found out that Lena had been working with Harun El and manufacturing Super powers when she, Lena and Alex searched Eve's lab and found a chunk of it in a safe. Kara wasn't happy, but you know who defended Lena? Alex did!
Lena didn't tell Kara (or anyone) that she was working with Lex to save his life? I've already addr this in a previous post, but to summarize Lena doesn't have to tell her civilian REPORTER best friend everything she does. She already knows (or thinks she does) what people would say. But remember Lena was as far as she knew working legally with Lex. We all thought that to, until we found out he had the prison under his control. But still Lena didn't have to tell Kara any of this.
So yeah, Kara lying and decieving Lena about WHO she really is, letting her believe she's in danger, letting her freak out when she thinks she could have died, being a jackass ass to her as Supergirl then besties with her as Kara, manipulating Lena's boyfriend into breaking and entering and violating her privacy? Shall I go on? None of that is the same as Lena not telling civilian everything that's going on her in her life.
Lena keeps secrets because Kara as far as she is aware isn't effected by them. Kara keeps secrets and lies to Lena every 5 minutes. Lena has never betrayed Kara's friendship, Kara betrays it all the time. Lena has never taken Kara for a mug, Kara does all the time. Lena never went to Mon El as asked him to betray Kara, Kara did this with James.
People say that Lena is responsible for most of her own (or any) of the shows problems? Well you know who else to could have prevented many of the problems? Kara could have if she had trusted her best friend.
Even Lena would have questioned Kara's sanity if she had revealed herself immediately. But by season 3 Lena has ready saved the world and was Supergirls ally and Kara's supposed best friend. The whole Kryptonite issue could have been avoided completely if Kara has been honest, she course have just talked to Lena, Lena would also have known she could trust the DEO to help Sam.
Honestly I'm just bored of Kara's lies, deciet and manipulations getting a free pass because she's the certified hero and Lena who doesn't share everything she does with a civilian being condemned as the liar and responsible for every bad thing that happens. No one condemned Alex, Brainy or James for not keeping Kara on the loop, why? Is it because they are the 'heroes' and Lena who only ever tries to help people and has saved the world A LOT is automatically seen as the one who will go bad? Note that Kara would be dead a good few times over and couldn't have saved the day without Lena. The finale is being a prime example, Kara, Alex, Jonn, Brainy, Nia, James? The didn't make that space suit, they didn't make anti Kryptonite shields for Kara. (Winn did once). Lena also isnt the only one to make mistakes. But she's the only one condemned for them. Remember when Alex and Jonn just 'trusted' Jeramiah? Oh and he stole the alien register? Yeah no one was condemning them, it was just an 'accident'.

Haven't Forgotten My Way Home - [9] (CONVERTED)
Pairing: Kara Zor-El x Female!Reader
Summary: In the D/s society of National City, men and women abandoned by their Dom/mes or otherwise deemed unfit for life “outside” end up at the Mount Overland House for Orphaned Submissives. It is here that Kara Zor-El finds Y/N Hastings, broken and fearful from mistreatment at the hands of her former Dom. Can Kara coax Y/N back into the world that once so terrified her, and show her the true meaning of care and submission?
Warnings: Domestic Violence (Flashbacks, Mentions and Descriptions), Misogyny, Domination/Submission.
A/N: This is really one of my favorite stories. I’ve it so many different times in so many different fandoms and wanted to put it in another one! In this, Kara and Alex are not sisters, Kara isn’t an alien which means she isn’t supergirl. Just wanna give another note that this story is NOT mine. I did not come with the plot, I just switched out the names of characters and places, that is all. Credit goes to itsfaberrytaboo on Ao3!

Days later, the morning had dawned bright and sunny, but there was the distinct air of something dark as soon as Kara had woken up. She and Y/N hadn’t slept in the same bed since that first night, and Kara was far too used to seeing Y/N’s bleary-eyed, sleepy but smiling face first thing when she made her way to the kitchen to fix their morning coffee. Today, though, Y/N sat quietly in the living room, staring down at her hands. She looked, for all intents and purposes, exactly as she had that first day Kara had seen her in Mount Overland House. Oh, her hair was washed and she was clean, wearing one of the simple pastel-colored dresses they’d bought when they’d gone shopping, but she wouldn’t look up even as Kara sat a cup of hot coffee in front of her on the table. “Y/N? What’s wrong?” “Nothing, Miss Kara.” Kara wasn’t inclined to believe that, not one bit, but she didn’t want to push, so she had to be satisfied with quietly worrying as she cooked and served up Y/N’s second favorite breakfast of the week: French toast with whipped cream and strawberries. She worried for exactly 40 minutes and 15 seconds, eating her food and watching as Y/N barely touched hers. So Kara tried once again while Y/N stood at the sink and helped her wash the dishes. “It’s nothing, Miss Kara.” So Kara stayed silent. It was hard to do; her first inclination was always to push and prod and to be slightly annoyed, because you didn’t just not tell Kara Zor-El what was going on in your head and in your heart. But she did have somewhat of a general idea, and she trusted Y/N enough that the truth would come out, whenever she was ready. Once back in the guest room (which Kara had begun to dangerously and absurdly think of as “Y/N’s room”) Y/N finally told her what she was thinking.
“I don’t want to go back.” Kara finished placing the last of Y/N’s new clothes in her brand-new suitcase, and sighed. It had been a good week. She was proud of herself; she felt like she’d gotten everything right at least as far as Y/N was concerned. Y/N seemed happier, easier; she was already so different from the person Kara had met just a few weeks ago. They’d spent the last days of Y/N’s visit being so mundane that Kara was partly afraid that Y/N would get bored. But she hadn’t seemed to; it was almost as if Y/N flourished in an atmosphere of grocery shopping, watching television, and making breakfast together in the mornings. Kara had gone through three packs of bacon in seven days. She didn’t want Y/N to go back. She’d realized that after the incident with Alex and Maggie, realized it when Y/N had fallen asleep against her while Kara was reading to her, and rather than wake her up, Kara had just slept with her on the couch. In the morning they’d woken up with Y/N snuggled under Kara’s chin and her arms wrapped around her in a death grip. It had struck Kara how comfortable it was, even though her back would ache for days. It felt natural. In seven days they’d fallen into a routine so casual and domestic that if anyone didn’t know the story they’d be mistaken for a married couple. She didn’t want Y/N to have to go back; she didn’t want her house to return to the same emptiness and suffocation it had held before a meek, frightened young submissive had been helped through the door. “I know, but you have to.” Y/N looked down at her hands again, her Y/H/C hair falling into her face and making her seem even more vulnerable, even more lost, and Kara’s heart clenched. “I don’t see why,” she said softly. “I want to stay here. I want to be with you, Miss Kara.” Kara put the suitcase in the hallway, then crossed the floor again and sat next to Y/N, resting her hand on the other girl’s. “It’s going to be alright, Y/N,” she said, and squeezed her hand gently. “I’m going to come visit you, a lot. You won’t be able to get rid of me,” she teased, but Y/N didn’t smile. “It won’t be the same,” she said, looking up at Kara with pleading eyes. “I like being here, I like being with you. I don’t want to be anywhere else.” “Why?” Kara asked suddenly. “Why don’t you want to be anywhere else?” She felt as if she already knew the answer, having lain awake in bed for hours the night before. She’d thought about everything: about what it would take to convince Nia and the council to let Y/N move in with her. Wondering if Y/N would want to change the colors in her room, if she’d want a different bed. If Theo would start sleeping in her room instead of Kara’s. He’d already done that twice, the traitor. But as she finally drifted off to sleep, Kara had found the answer. Y/N tilted her head, looking at Kara. “I don’t understand,” she said. “Why don’t you want to be anywhere else?” Kara repeated. “Why is it so important for you to be here with me?” “Because I like it here,” Y/N said, standing up and slowly beginning to pace around the room. Kara tried and failed not to be proud that Y/N was walking much better on her own, unaided; she fought down the smile and kept her focus on the woman in front of her. “I-I like it here, and I like Theo.” Y/N turned to face Kara. “I like waking up when I hear the birds and not some alarm that means I have to get up and make sure I don’t get the toast too brown because then I won’t be able to eat until dinnertime. I like knowing that I don’t have to wash the dishes three times before they’re considered clean. I like watching television with you and knowing it’s okay to laugh at the funny parts. I like to sit next to you and have you smile at me and know that y-you aren’t going to be mad at me in five seconds. I like being able to go to sleep w-without needing to find a comfortable position because it hurts.” Kara stood up and placed her hand on Y/N’s arm. Y/N shook her head, using the back of her hand to brush away the tears now falling down her cheeks. “I’m not alone when I’m here,” she said, offering Kara a half-hearted smile. “I want to be with you.” “And that’s why you can’t be,” Kara said gently. “But I don’t understand!” Y/N said in exasperation. “I know you don’t want me to go back to the House; y-you’ve even called me ‘little one.’ You want me here.” Oh, she’d heard that. Kara winced. She’d never been one for subtlety, that much she knew. Alex liked to tease her about it, at least until she threatened to sneak into her house and shave her head while she slept. And she couldn’t deny that what Y/N said was true. After all, she’d said it, and there was nothing Kara dreaded more than the drive up the asphalt that led to Mount Overland House. “Y/N, sweetheart,” Kara tried to say, “It’s not a good idea…” “But why not?” Y/N asked, sounded heartbroken, and Kara closed her eyes briefly. “I-I could be a good girl, Miss Kara, I know I can, I-“ Suddenly, Y/N flung herself forward and Kara just barely had enough time to catch her, before Y/N’s lips were on her own. Her eyes widened from the force of the kiss, the desperation of it, and the… sweetness of it. Y/N was sweet, and she was soft, and she tasted… oh dear god, she tasted like cinnamon from the ice cream earlier and it took everything Kara had not to kiss her back. Her hands, which had been flailing uselessly at her sides, now took hold of Y/N’s upper arms, and gently pushed her back. “I can be a good girl,” Y/N whispered, staring at Kara. “Please… I promise I’ll be good.” How many times had Y/N said that? Kara wondered. How many times had she pleaded it, when she was at his mercy? Had he ever shown her mercy while his hand was falling as she begged him, over and over… She took a steadying breath. She couldn’t think about that, not now, or she’d lose her nerve. She’d lose sight of what she knew was best for both of them. Kara took Y/N’s hand in hers and led the girl back to the bed, sitting down next to her again. Her mind and heart were still rattled, and her lips still tingled, with the kiss; she swallowed hard and tried to find the right words. “This is not because you’re not a good girl,” Kara said quietly. “You are a good girl, Y/N. A very good girl. But you’re also not ready.” She lifted her hands and with her thumbs gently brushed away the tears from Y/N’s cheeks. “And I’m not ready either.” When Y/N looked at her in surprise, Kara smiled sadly. “If I thought you were ready,” she explained carefully, “If you weren’t just out of a horrible, horrible experience, and if I was sure that you want to be with me because you want to be with me, and not because I’m the first Dominant who’s been nice to you after him—“ Y/N opened her mouth to protest and Kara placed her finger over the girl’s lips. “Shh. If I thought you were ready, I would claim you in a heartbeat.” Kara paused, and dared to pull Y/N to her in a hug. “You’re beautiful,” she affirmed. “You’re beautiful, and you’re perfect, but you’re not ready. You want to be here because you don’t want to be alone, because I’m safe, because I’m good to you.” Kara pulled back and looked into Y/N’s eyes. “But I’m not putting you on your knees if I can’t be sure that’s truly where you want to be.” Now it was Kara’s turn to look down at her hands as she quietly confessed again, “And I’m not ready, Y/N. Because I would claim you in a heartbeat, and it’s too soon. I work for the department meant to protect you. You’ve just gotten out of a horrible situation, you’re still in physical therapy and seeing a psychiatrist, and I would forever blame myself if I damaged you even more because I claimed you before you knew what it was like to be independent.” “I don’t want to be independent!” Y/N snapped, and Kara drew back a little, a small smile playing about her lips. Y/N, on the other hand, gaped in horror. “I-I’m sorry, Miss Kara, I—“ “No,” Kara said, holding up her hand. “That’s what I mean, Y/N. I want you to know what it’s like to be able to speak your mind without fear of repercussion. I want you to learn what it’s like to shop for yourself. To read a book for yourself. To take a walk somewhere, enjoy an overly-expensive but insanely delicious coffee for yourself, or an ice cream. To lie on a blanket in the park and watch the sun set. There are so many things that you haven’t gotten to do, and I want you to do them. For yourself.” “But I want to do them with you.” “And maybe you will,” Kara said, moving to take Y/N’s hand again, her thumb smoothing the skin over the girl’s knuckles. “But not right now. Right now, you’re going to find out just how wonderful Y/N Hastings is. Y/N Hastings, herself, without anyone telling you who you are or who you should be. You deserve that.” Y/N was silent for what seemed like ages; Kara simply sat and held her hand, her heart breaking every time a tear rolled down the girl’s cheek. But finally she looked over at Kara, teeth once again worrying her lower lip. “You won’t stop visiting me?” Kara shook her head, wiping her own eyes with her other hand. “No, Y/N. I won’t stop visiting you.” “And we’ll play Monopoly?” “And you’ll wipe the floor with me in Monopoly.” Y/N chuckled then, a low, reluctant sound, but it was enough, and Kara smiled at her. “I don’t know how to be by myself,” Y/N said, picking at her dress. She shrugged at Kara. “How do I know what to do, if someone doesn’t… tell me what to do?” Kara wasn’t sure she knew the answer to that herself. She’d had practically zero experience in having a sub, and her training was the only experience she’d had in being one. While it was true that for Dominants it usually came naturally, and their nature was proven by the small X birthmark (Kara’s was on her ribs), this didn’t mean that they were automatically all-knowing, and Kara was completely at a loss. She didn’t know who she could talk to for help, either. Ironically, help came in the form of the director of Mount Overland House. “Live with you?” Y/N asked Nia, her head tilted in confusion. “Why not?” she said with a shrug, looking at Kara for confirmation. “It could work.” “But don’t you live… here?” Kara gestured, indicating the House. Nia grinned and shook her head. “Kind of, but not really,” she offered, then hastened to explain. “I have a house on the grounds. It’s isolated enough that I don’t feel like I live here anymore, but it’s close enough that I can be here at a moment’s notice whenever a resident needs me. And that’s quite often,” she added, a little sadly. “Wouldn’t that cause a conflict?” Kara asked. She wasn’t sure how she felt about the idea; part of her was even a little jealous of it. As much as she had given Y/N a speech about her independence, it was hard for Kara to shut off that part of herself that wanted to wrap Y/N up in her arms, to hold the girl on her lap and take all of her pain away. But you have to do this, Kara reminded herself. Because while Kara knew that it could be detrimental to Y/N to jump back into another relationship, another claiming, so quickly, Kara knew it could be just as harmful to herself. She wasn’t someone who got off on holding power over another person, making a submissive helpless and dependent; it could devastate her nearly as much as it would devastate Y/N, if she wasn’t ready. “Not if we have Y/N cleared as a resident,” Nia said. “She’s come so far in her emotional and physical therapy, she could be released from the house—“ “As long as she agrees to continue and complete her therapy,” Kara nodded, remembering the policies as outlined by her department. She glanced at Y/N, who seemed to be quiet and mulling it over. “But why would I want to live with you?” Nia threw her head back and laughed. “Yeah, you’re a lot better now,” she said, smiling at Y/N before turning serious. “Because I know what it’s like. I know what it’s like, and I think I can help you. I’ve been there, Y/N.” Y/N nodded, her eyes cast down to the floor. “Oh. Right.” “Nia,” Kara said carefully, “How can I be sure that you’ll do what’s best for Y/N? Speaking as an employee of the government, of course.” Nia snorted, giving Kara a knowing look, and even Y/N quirked an eyebrow at her. Kara grinned a little, feeling the blush spread over her cheeks. “Like I just said, I get it, okay? We have common ground. But I’ll also make sure she takes care of herself; she’ll have to continue her therapy, and even though she can go out and discover things on her own time we can keep her on the House curfew, so she’ll still have the comfort of some rules. We can do this, Miss Zor-El. Y/N can do this.” Kara looked over at the other woman, stood there with a suitcase at her feet and Showtime: A History of the Broadway Musical Theater tucked under her arm. Could Y/N do it? Kara asked herself. Could she do it? She was already dreading that first night back at her house, alone without Y/N to play with Theo, squealing as the dog licked her nose or pounced on her from the floor. She’d gotten far too used to having someone there, to knowing there’d be someone to see in the morning. But once again, Kara Zor-El steeled herself, and as she did so, she saw something come into Y/N’s eyes that she’d never seen before. Resolve. Y/N nodded, first at Nia, then at Kara. “I can do this,” she said, her gaze never leaving Kara. Her voice was strong, if not confident, and Kara felt as if she could cry. “I can do this, Miss Kara.” Kara smiled and moved forward to hug Y/N, not caring that the embrace lingered on for probably longer than was necessary. Y/N tucked her head into Kara’s neck and drew in a shuddering breath; Kara squeezed her gently, holding her close. Nia had the grace to clear her throat and go off across the room to check on another resident, as Kara finally separated from Y/N and touched the girl’s chin with her hand, tilting her face up. “You have my number,” she said softly. “I want you to call me if you need me. Any time, day or night, Y/N.” “Yes, Miss Kara.” “I’m proud of you. So proud of you.” Y/N beamed. “Really?” “Really,” Kara affirmed. “Be brave for me, Y/N, all right?” Y/N nodded. “I will. Miss Kara?” “Yes, Y/N.” She hesitated, then said, uncertainly, “You know I’ll still want to be your girl, right? I-I don’t think that’s going to change.” Kara took a deep breath of her own, struggling not to cry. This was too soon. Far too soon, and yet… But no. She touched Y/N’s arm. “Right now, all I want is for you to know that you… are Y/N.” Y/N pursed her lips, and nodded. Once in the car, Kara rested her elbows on the steering wheel, her face buried in her hands as she cried. As she was wiping her eyes, a name came to her, and Kara found herself grinning. Why hadn’t she thought of it earlier? Someone who could help. Who had always been able to help, no matter what issue Kara had faced. She quickly shifted the car into gear and drove until she came to a large, opulent house on the other side of town. Kara got out of her car and stared up at the black front door. How long had it been since she’d been here? Too long. She should’ve come days ago, weeks. When she’d first met Y/N. She took the steps two at a time. Would she be welcomed? It’d been a few months, at least. Not that she thought she’d be forgotten, but still… a few months, probably closer to nearly a year, with no contact. No letters, no calls. Not even an email or a text message. Maybe… maybe beyond that door she was no longer wanted. But she’d have to risk it. The risk was worth it and the alternative was too much for her to think of. Kara clenched her hand into a fist, raised it, and knocked on the door. After a few moments she heard the muffled but distinct sound of heels on marble. A little shiver ran down her spine despite the small grin that curved the corners of her mouth, and she rolled her eyes at herself. Suddenly the door opened, and a tall woman in a dark suit peered out curiously. “Yes, may I- Kara!” “Hello, Le-“ She didn’t have the chance to even get the rest of her words out, before Kara was pulled into the other woman’s arms. She smiled and allowed herself to be wrapped into the embrace, resting her head against the woman’s chest and breathing in her all-too-familiar scent, feeling the steady thump of a heartbeat against her ear. Comfort. Strength. She’d missed it. The black-haired woman soon pushed Kara back, but only to smile down at her, dark eyes glittering with both curiosity and purpose. “It’s good to see you again, little one.”

In Your Dreams Tonight - Chapter 4 – Fortune Telling
Prologue 1  Prologue 2 Prologue 3 Chapter 5
  Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3
“What?” Kan sat at her desk, raised her voice and looked at her friend who sat in front of her in classroom next day, shocked as if she had heard the wildest thing. “Neisui, you are moving out of your cousin’s place? Why? I thought you had a happy reuniondinner last night. Did something happen?”
Neisui knew her friend would be surprised, but not this surprise. Scratching her head, tilting her head to the side, “well, a little too well I afraid. Now I’m feeling like third wheel. I think that my presence there might interrupt them. They are like a newly married couple now, and…it’s hard. The room I’m sleeping now used to be Koichi’s study, when they were bad with each other Koichi would sleep in the study…on the floor while I took the bed. And though now they are all lovey-dovey but it’s still his study, sometimes he brings his work home. I shouldn’t just keep barging their place like this.”
“But where will you live Neisui?” Akari asked, she and Mei decided to join in the conversation. “Koichi and his parents are pretty much your only family in Tokyo right? But then didn’t you say that your aunt and uncle lives more on the country side of Tokyo, just near its borders?”
Mei nodded. “Yea, living in Tokyo is expensive. I mean,” she paused and looked at her friends, “come on it is the capital of Japan!”
“Have you thought of a place to live yet Neisui?” Kan wanted to know
Neisui nodded, “I’m thinking of living with Ai.”
“Ai?” Akari widened her eyes. “Wait, what Ai, that Ai? Your cousin’s ex-lover?”
Neisui nodded again, “she and Koichi had a talk the other day at the bar, before and after her shop project Nia designed. They are all peaceful and friends now, I heard that she is hiring someone at her shop, as a cashier or a server of some sort. I’m gonna ask her if I can live with her, and work for her for my living cost.”
“But why Ai?” Mei wondered, “I don’t really like that woman, I mean, she did get into the relationship of your cousin’s marriage, do you really trust that woman? Because I don’t. Those kinds of stuff are in her genes right?” she shrugged.
Nene paused for a moment, and looked down to her friend’s desk, some sort of emotion is in her eyes. “But that day…”she started, “that day…her eyes did look really sad, but at the same time a sense of calm too…I know it’s not really making sense, but I think she really did love Koichi as a person, sad but also a sense of relieve when it is all over…” recalling her memory of that day, “she did smile that day.”
“…whatever I don’t get it.” Akari finally added, “it’s adult stuff and adult feelings that we do not know or have any experience with…but hey why do you sound like you do understand this kind of thing, have you been in love before Neisui?”
Huh? What? Where did that question come from? Neisui looked at her friend, opened her mouth ready to speak, but no sound came out, then she shut her mouth again, before she looked around the classroom and see some classmates are looking at them, or looking at her, including the boy sitting next to her, Toramatsu.
She shrugged then gave an awkward smile, “yeah I wonder. Perhaps it’s because I do live with adults and listen to their love or relation problems. So through time, I kinda understand a little more? And besides, I do know Ai before Koichi get married, I just never thought she and him were in that kind of relationship before. I did get annoyed and mad at them at that time, and even mad at myself unable to tell Nia what I might knew. I thought it all ended…but besides that, Ai is not a bad person. So if I live with her, at least I am living with someone that Koichi knows well, and I can also help keeping an eye on her.”

The discussion ended when Kiyonori walked in the classroom and started the lecture, but Kan did passed a note to Neisui during class and stuck in her mind. What was on the black board in front of her is not much her concern that day, she can always borrow notes from Kan, or even from Toramatsu.
Neisui, please consider and understand your situation. I know some people in class they heard our conversation and they do not know you nor really like you all that well. But if a word of you living with someone who was in affair with a married man, a bad woman if you wanna call, then those words will attack you one day, as you and that woman be in the same category. They don’t need to know you or that woman well, you don’t even need to be in a relationship before you be talked about, sooner or later gossips and false gossips will spray, you might get yourself called to the Principal’s room. And also…your relationship with Sensei Taishi, I’m not saying you are seeing each other or something, but you are like a teacher’s pet. I know you well so I know it’s nothing of sort, your afterschool with him sometimes are just to practice your sword or talk about history or some samurai, but to the others…Besides, you do call him by his first name correct? If you don’t watch out, someone might get the wrong idea and…you might also get yourself suspended.
She did try to take some notes but the movement of pen eventually came to a stop, then noticing how Kiyonori eyeing her if catching her strangeness in class, the pen moved again, only to become tic-tac-toe.
Worried? Suddenly this writing appeared on her notebook.
Neisui tilted her head and looked at Toramatsu slightly, their eyes met for a second, before she quickly looked back to her notebook and digested the text. Why the sudden question? Did he glanced her note? Or did her expression gave away again?
      Why? She wrote back.
I can’t say if you are doing the right thing or not, by living with Ai I mean, but if you do trust her, then if your cousin allows it, you should go for it.
Don’t sound like you actually know her, how you know she can be trusted? Even Mei and Akari have their doubts…maybe Kan too.
You are right…I don’t know her so I can’t if she is a trustworthy person. But I do know you and you trust her. Then that’s enough.
Neisui looked at him again, who continued to write after a brief pause.
And Neisui, I trust you. If I don’t, I wouldn’t have given you my red scarf. Your answer, give it to me when you are ready
. ***                                                ***                                                   ***
Ready? She’s not sure when would she be ready, with the new school rule and her dream and Toramatsu all at the same time, it’s confusing her. This Toramatsu is really warm, like he truly understands her and be there for her, someone who trusts her. Though he may be the one in her dream, but it’s the present tense she wants, the present one she wants. She wants to make sure of her own heart is falling for this boy sitting next to her and not because he is the samurai in her dream.
She admits, he catches her sight, the feeling with him is just too natural and familiar. She should give it a try, rather than just sitting and pondering ifs or possibilities.
As a result after school, she and Kan went to Ai’s fortune telling sweets shop and ordered themselves each the most popular item, fortune-telling mochi. The shop itself is not really a fortune telling place, but its most popular item, despite of its watery and plain taste of shingen mochi cake with some sauce or different flavors, a fortune telling leaf comes with it, with the side of writing hidden underneath that mochi that one may flip to read after eating mochi. It is sort of like a fortune cookie. You need to crack it open or finish it first in order to read. Although some people may cheat and decide to read the writing right away, but then that kills all the fun, and in a way, lose its own purpose. You are supposed to find your life slowly and not rush into it, taking shortcuts take away not only the anticipation but also all kinds of wishes or expectations.
Neisui has been at this shop’s grand opening before, but back then there was no this mochi nor fortune telling, she decided today is going to be the day to visit the shop and talk to Ai. Romance stuff, Koichi doesn’t understand and Nia, if she asks her, Koichi will get curious too, as if he hasn’t already.
“Hey Neisui, whacha thinking? The fortune telling is not gonna appear by itself by staring at the mochi,” Kan giggled, “start eating and stop thinking. You are the one curious about it and drags me here, and you also came to ask her about your living and working right? If you can’t make up your mind in the classroom better do so now. Who knows it might change how you think, or if to deepen your original thought and state of mind. I wanna read yours too you know, we did promise of showing to each other after.” Kan took another bite of her mochi, “its blankness mix so well with sauce and powder, adding light aroma and sweetness to the plain water taste. If you keep staring like that it gonna melt you know, you don’t want to melt your fortune, right?
Neisui nodded and took a bite, then another bite. “yes it really is good. Pure and simple. I wonder who invented this, and it would be nice if life were this simple, by fortune telling.”
“So you don’t believe in it? Beautiful miss?” suddenly a stranger’s voice cut in, they looked up, two men stood in front of them. One has beautiful blonde short locks just to his shoulder, and orange-gold eyes, who looked almost out of this world, someone who looks like a prince out of a story book. Another is brown hair man with a ponytail, who not so princely-looking but also beautiful in another way. “Aww but why not? Fates and gods, they are so popular right now, do you think fates are written in the starts by gods?” it was the brown-haired man who asked the question.
“Hey Ichthys,” blonde-hair man laughed, “be a little easy on the ladies shall we? Perhaps that’s why they are here, to see their own fortunes. Who knows, maybe after eating they will believe in fates.” Turned to speak to Neisui and Kan, “beautiful ladies, as we work closely with stars and we a regular customer here enough to see all sorts of people who come here to eat. Some are here plainly to eat, but some of them have some sort of wishes in mind, as you can read their expression changes during the course of eating and after reading. The writing on the back of leaf is mostly just for fun, as we have read a bunch ourselves and laugh about it, but some, who knows, it might be the one leading you forward. A human’s fate is not written by the stars or so called meddled by the gods, or by chances of the mochi here. But rather look at it as an opportunity, who knows what will happen right? Here, I will show you mine.” He took a leaf out of his pocket and showed them.
No matter how many times I reborn, I will always love only you.
“See it’s very romantic right?” the blond hair man says and winked. “And I believe this fortune telling really works. Today I come, today I met fate!”
“Hey Teorus, don’t hit on underage girls. I can assure you that you are not the fate they are looking for.” The man called Ichthys answered and give his friend a nudge in the elbow, gave Neisui and Kan an apologetic look, “sorry for our brief interruption and his behavior earlier, we will head back to our table, but my friend says is also true. Your fate is something you need to create yourself, the gods can only do so much by creating opportunities. It’s your own heart that needs to do the action.” He gave them a gentleman bow and dragged Teorus away.
Kan and Neisui, who has been silence the whole time since they came to their table finally started talking again. “Wow Neisui, those long statements of fate and stuff, this place is actually quite interesting. They are a bit strange alright, going to a stranger’s table and talk like that, but you gotta admit, what they say actually makes lots of sense. Neisui, forget about the note I wrote you earlier, follow your own heart. If people in the future talk bad to you, I’ll be on your side. I can help watching out for you. And I believe your cousin Koichi will too. Who cares about what they think, you are you and as long as you do not break the rules, they cannot do anything to you.”
“Mhmm…”Neisui simply nodded, finishing her last bite of mochi. “Alright Kan, let’s do this! I will read mine and show you later, you the same ok? Whether good or bad, let us laugh about it, on the count of three.”
Their eyes met and nodded smiling to each other, counted down from three and flip their leaves in their palm.
Then, Neisui took the leaf, put inside her pocket and stood up without a word.
“Neisui?” Kan looked at her, surprised, her friend didn’t answer her, but simply walked toward the glass window at entrance, stopped at her tracks, then she did one of the craziest things in her life.
SHE BUMPED HER HEAD TO THE WINDOW FIVE TIMES!
SHE BUMPED HER HEAD TO THE WINDOW FIVE TIMES!!
SHE BUMPED HER HEAD TO THE WINDOW FIVE TIMES!!!
“Um……NEISUI??? WHY? ARE YOU ALRIGHT?” Kan stood up and ready to walk to her friend who just now put a hand to her forehead.
“Ouch! That hurts….” Rubbing her forehead, with her head still against that glass window. She muttered to herself, then looked out the window, Toramatsu and his friends, their new classmates stood outside the window entrance, each with eyes widened and some even have their mouths open.
Toramatsu was the first to react and came rush inside, “Neisui are you alright?”
Instead of answering him, Neisui took the leaf from her pocket and showed him, “what kind of fate is this, Toramatsu?”
On the leaf it reads:
Go to the front entrance and hit your head against the window five times, this may sound like a joke but you will meet your fate. If you are brave enough to create an opportunity.
Nobody noticed, Ichthys holds a cup of drink to his lips, a ghostly smile on his lips.
“Did you do that, Ichyths?” Teorus asked.
“What’s wrong with a little fun? And looks like she’s brave enough to make that opportunity happen, what a good student.”
“And a rather stupid one too.” Teorus smiled too, “but in front of love, everyone is stupid.” Reaching inside his pocket, “even us.”

Chris has been so quiet with me since coming back from what he did, I don’t know what he did but he hasn’t said anything. The only thing he said to me was we going to New Jersey, I want to know but I don’t want to bug him about it because he seems really tired. I hope he hasn’t done something stupid, he has posted the picture but I don’t understand why he won’t tell me, he seems in a rush “did daddy do the hair?” I asked Royalty, she came running into the living area with a floppy bun. She touched her head “daddy do it” she is so cute “you want me to fix the mess?” she paused thinking “it is pretty baby, you don’t have to have it fixed” she shook her head “I see doggy and play” she pointed outside “no, leave them ugly things. Don’t go outside” I honestly just want to know what he has done but he won’t speak on it “Royalty come on. Rylee you got your things together?” looking behind me at Chris “yeah, I just packed a few things. Chris I know you’re tired but can you like tell me what the hell happened?” getting up from the couch “I will talk once we get on the jet, I just want to drop Royalty off to the bitch” he must be annoyed at her, I haven’t done anything “ok” I don’t know if to ask him if he has taken his medication because I know he didn’t yesterday “Chris, did you take your medication? If you haven’t then I have packed them” Chris shook his head holding Royalty’ hand, Chris is not in a good mood at all.
I am so quiet but I don’t want to annoy him, I don’t want him to snap on me like he did earlier “are you dropping Royalty off yourself?” I asked breaking the silence “yeah, the bitch wants her back. The jet will be waiting for us then we can go to New Jersey, I will stay for a few days. I will be doing some interviews in New York but I will stay at your parents’ home, I will then be coming back to LA. You can stay in New Jersey if you like” looking over at Chris “no, I am coming with you. You said you wanted me to support you so I am, why are you leaving me in New Jersey?” I don’t know why he is feeling sensitive “I don’t want to force you to do something, you can stay with your mom I don’t mind” Chris confuses my life but luckily I understand he has bipolar so his moods can be everywhere but it doesn’t help with stress. Maybe he is stressing “ok” I will keep quiet and wait until we actually get on the jet so we can talk like he wants, I don’t like him like this at all.
Looking out of the car window, so is this where she lives. Nia lives in an apartment “will you be ok? Don’t argue, just give Royalty and leave Chris” I am worried he will snap on her, Chris closed the passenger car door walking around the car with Royalty. The last thing he needs to do is argue with her “I know what she is about to say, she is going to tell me I can’t see Roro for a like a month because I had her for a week. This is what is pissing me off” I get why he is sad “I want to see my daughter, I loved having her. You know how good I was, she said I was bad because I didn’t take her to the party but she was in New York with me, Nia said I purposely did this” he must have argued with her beforehand, reaching my hand out of the car “you don’t argue with her please, be a better person. She wants that from you, I know you have become so close to Roro and same with me. I will miss seeing her face in the morning” I don’t know what to do for him, holding onto Chris’ hand “say to her that you want the weekend still, that is your time” I hate seeing his sad face “I will come with you then, I will just be behind you for support” opening the car door, I don’t think Nia will be happy anyways.
Watching Chris pressing kisses to Royalty’ cheek, he has really become so close to her and I love seeing this with him. From a guy that was saying he didn’t know how to love Royalty he sure does love her so much, it’s so nice to see. The door opened, leaning on the side of the wall crossing my arms. She is so old and ugly, my god. Chris is so stupid. It really grinds my gears to know he fucked that when he is so beautiful “mommy!!” Royalty got her arms open, Nia took her from Chris “I missed you so much my little blessing” how annoying of her “you had a good time? You going to say bye now” Nia looked up at Chris and then clocked me but I moved my head “I want to see her this weekend” Chris said, he needs to stand his ground “it’s a little too much, you had her for a week” I swear I want to say something but I won’t “she is my daughter too, I want Royalty with me for the weekend” Chris got agitated at her attitude, pushing myself off of the wall and walking to the side of Chris “ignore Nia, she has no choice. Legally you can see her or if she likes she can go to court, he will be here on Saturday morning. Legally it says Chris has her for the weekend so there is that” I pointed out, I didn’t want to be involved but she thinks she is funny, just because she allowed him to have a week “come Chris, Bye Roro” waving at her, she tried though “you have nothing to do with this” Nia spat “oh I do, just sticking by my husband and my step daughter. How about you be grown about this and go inside” pulling at Chris’ hand to go.
I don’t think I will get over going on a private jet, I was so used to going on a normal economy flight, this is just amazing. I am wondering why there is no Joe or Carlos, where are they. This flight will be extra quiet then, I know Chris is about to fall asleep but I want to speak to him. Looking over at Chris as he sat across me “just getting the flight attendant to get the bed out, I am tired” I didn’t say anything and just remained silent “now, why are you quiet with me?” Chris questioned “because something is upsetting you and then you are not telling me about what happened? Are we running away from something? What is it?” Chris scratched his forehead sighing out “I don’t want to upset you at all baby, I am just not in my mindset right now. Just you know, I be in my own thoughts at times. I get annoyed at shitty situations like with Nia and then Lo, and the whole fact some nigga watched us have sex. I have people dropping off, so many niggas wanting me to fail. I am angry at myself because I hung with these niggas, they were with me and I thought we were homies. I told them so much, I was actually failing. I was the fool, I was being used. It took me being in love to see this, to see I was being used. I just realised that nobody really loved me or cared to tell me this, I am just reflecting on life babe. I am not angry with you, I am mad at myself. I just need to sleep it off and I will be good” I knew something was wrong with him “it’s fine, it’s not your fault. God put you in that path, if you didn’t have Lo then we wouldn’t have known each other, thank about that” Chris flashed me a smile.
Looking out of the window, we are taking off finally “so, I got the person. I mean not me exactly but it was Lo” my face softened “no?” I said in disbelief “don’t tell me that, do not lie to me. You telling me he saw me naked? He saw us? He posted the pictures?” Chris nodded his head “your so-called brother was watching us, I didn’t know but when he opened the door I knew it was him instantly, I remembered back to when he showed me a trick to open that. So I called Blake” Chris paused looking at my reaction “Blake!?” I spat in shock “my brother Blake!?” Chris nodded his head “I text your dad saying I needed him for something, Blake came over. We went to Lo, he had Bailey there. Something about she is pregnant” frowning at Chris “Bailey is supposed to be in Miami? What the fuck? So Bailey was in on this? You telling me Bailey has seen this? Chris I don’t trust her” is he crazy “listen to me, it’s fine. I got the camera and pictures but Blake shot Lo’ kneecap because he wouldn’t get on his knees, he threatened to punch the baby in Bailey’ stomach” resting my head back sighing out “it’s sorted baby now, Blake threatened them. Lo wouldn’t do it. Blake said it’s sorted, he told me to go. I don’t know but your brother is scary” bringing my head forward to look at Chris “you say you been hanging with fakes but so have I, we only got each other. I want to be with you for your interviews like I said, I love you Chris” placing my hands over his.
I am so shocked, my brother would do that shit but Bailey has been in LA all that time. This sounds like something she would do, honestly it does. Chris’ phone started ringing “it’s Mark” I said to him looking at his phone screen, Chris picked the phone up “my man” Chris said down the phone, I just want to curl up next to my mom. This has been hell for me, so much shit has happened and it’s because of jealousy. How can people be so jealous, jealous of what Chris has given me. Why won’t they let us live, I fucking hate life “oh shit, really? You worked so quick on that” Chris chuckled “listen I am happy. I am on the jet right now but thank you, speak soon” Chris disconnected the call “so the restraining order has gone through, you safe now baby. We both safe now” I sighed out “oh my god, really? Thank you, god. You know how blessed I am to hear this? Oh my god, Chris. I always felt so scared, I thought he was always around me” this is a blessing I have been waiting for “I feel so emotional, like I know he is around but I feel a little safer. Oh god, thank you. Thank you for protecting me too” Chris chuckled “I am glad to know he is away, we can live our life. I was thinking on moving but I don’t know, I will leave that on you” Chris said, pointing at myself. Chris got up from his seat “yeah, if you want to move out. Let me know” he leaned down kissing the top of my head “just going to have a nap” why is he leaving that on me.
Tumblr media
I love coming to Rylee’ parents’ home, it is so peaceful and I can be me. I like to be just me, I also get to escape LA and the bullshit. I feel a little worse after that nap, I should have just stayed awake. The only reason why I came out here with Rylee is because Harvey wanted us to come and also I said to Rylee I would, she needs a break from the shit. I have work coming up too, I have some shit to do in New York so I can just work and spend time with the family. Closing the SUV door behind me, walking around the SUV meeting Rylee. She held onto my hand “I feel so much more happier, I feel at peace being back here” the driver placed Rylee’ case at the side of me “I packed some things for you before you say it’s so heavy” picking the case up, she knows me well because I was about to say “you need to go sleep early tonight baby” Rylee wiped my cheek “you look so tired, and you need to take your medication. Sleep and medication” Rylee is treating me like a baby “I need a bath too, you going to do that” walking with Rylee towards the front door “you want me to wash your balls? I will” laughing at Rylee, she actually would “I want you to use your mouth though” Rylee side eyed me looking away from me.
From the time I saw Rose to now, she has aged a little more. I do hope the treatment is working “my favourite people are here, come here Chris” she got her arms open to me “came to see the main woman, this was all on me” leaning down to hug Rose “it’s so good to see you both honestly, I heard from Harvey that you both are staying” moving back from the hug “yes ma’am, come to see you” turning around to sit down on the couch “Harvey, Kyrie and Nathan have gone to the store. They will be back, he left the door unlocked because he knew you was both close by” Rylee always has to cry “that girl of mine is just like her father, always crying. I tell her be strong and she cries” Rylee came from the dining room with a tissue in hand “I just see you and I feel bad, I should be with you” Rylee sat next to me “no, your life is with Chris now. I am just so happy, I have done nothing but tell the family about it. Grandma saw it, she cannot wait to meet you Chris. She has a crush on him, she is saying that Chris looks like grandad” looking at Rylee as she pulled a face “have you seen grandad? He looks nothing like Chris, she blind” Rose chuckled “you say that to her she will cuss you out, she thinks she can pull Chris from you” Rylee grandma seems like a G.
Seeing my manager’ number calling me at the most awkward time “I need to answer this” getting up from the couch, they were going to talk about something important there “what do you want now?” walking to the dining room “last minute thing but I know you can do this, you’re in New York anyways. Hot 97 performance coming up in three days” my eyebrows knitted together “are y’all real? Like what? My name was not even mentioned and now they want to mention my name?” the fuck do they think this is “I understand this but someone cancelled and they are asking for you, Chris you can do this. It’s money and it’s you, they barely sold tickets but with your name they will. They are begging for you, I will sort everything out, yes?” they only didn’t want me because I haven’t put out any new material “fine but you deal with it, I am not chasing anyone for this last minute shit. For now, don’t call me. Just text me” disconnecting the call, now they want me.
Sitting back down next to Rylee, Harvey was so happy to see me which was sweet to feel that kind of love from him “is everything ok?” Rose asked “yeah just work calls, but I am sorry. You were saying?” I feel like I interrupted the whole conversation “it’s ok, just wanted to speak to Rylee and you about my treatment. This is why I was so happy to know she is coming” I hope it is good news “the doctor feels like my treatment is not working, before you start crying please don’t. The next option is surgery to have my womb removed” my mouth hung open “I am going to take it because that is my option, I have had my babies but I am not upset so Rylee please” looking to the side of me, placing my arm around Rylee “please stop, life is so precious. This is why I don’t want you to wait for a baby, you don’t know what can happen in life. I know what you said to me Rylee but look at me, I am losing my womb and I know deep down you want to be a mother and I want to see you hold your child. That is my dream, I want all my kids happy. I will do anything to stay around longer but you just never know” putting my head down, I knew it would be something because Harvey really wanted us to come.
Shit is not nice to hear “when are you both getting married?” Harvey said breaking the silence, looking up from the floor “now, I want to do it quick but I am not sure on what Rylee wants. I would marry her now, she needs to choose where she wants the thing” Rylee got up from the couch “you are trying to rush it for the fact you think mom is going to die, I don’t want that. I don’t want to rush things but I also need my mom here for me, now it sounds selfish but I need you to help me, I need you to be there for me when I give birth, how do I look after my child. I need you mom” Rylee said “you think you need me baby but you don’t, you know what you need to do and you have a man that loves you and will look after you” Rose pointed at her, maybe she is showing tough love “you’re saying that but you’re the one I call about everything” Rylee walked off, she has not taken it well.
I left it for five minutes before I got up from the couch “she will be in her room” Rose said smiling “be hard on her, she is spoilt with love that girl. I just want her to be strong and live life, she is always worrying about someone else but herself, I had to tell her that your job is not going to give you happiness. She shouldn’t have even considered her job, you should be number one and she hates hearing the truth. She worries about me but look at me, I am going to lose my womb. I want her to think about her future and herself, she needs to stop thinking of others and do her. Give her tough love” smiling at Rose “I will try” she is saying it like that is easy to do “you are too head over heels with my daughter” Rose said as I walked away “I can be hard on her when I need to be” I need to remember which is her bedroom because I have forgotten.
Closing the bedroom door behind me “why did you run away? Your mom thinks I spoil you” sitting down on the edge of the bed at the side of Rylee, she is laid out on her bed “my mom is acting like I don’t need her” Rylee mumbled “she doesn’t think that, she is showing you tough love Rylee, she doesn’t want you to relay on her. She knows you do need her” I do understand why she is doing it “you think it would be too quick if we got married straight away?” shaking my head “are you considering it? It is up to you” I shrugged saying “Chris would you hate me if I said I want to stay here to look after my mom?” staring at Rylee not really wanting to hear that “I can’t be here, I have Royalty but I wouldn’t hate you” I don’t agree with this but I will not say this to her face, she ain’t thinking of me “your face says something different” I don’t know what she expects me to react like, I don’t want to seem selfish but I don’t want her to stay here “permanently?” I questioned “for a while yes, I am just thinking on this” she can think of something else because I don’t approve, looking away from Rylee in annoyance “I will see come to see you on weekends?” shaking my head “just like my daughter does, I don’t approve of it” I needed to say it but I feel bad

                                                I M A G I N E
Century Hall, 7:02 P.M. (Pop-up concert)
“I was just... curious...” You whispered, hugging your arms as your eyes stayed on the ground. Tears streamed down your cheeks rapidly, uncertain if they were going to stop anytime soon. Ashton was still in front of you in your defense, feeling a little sad from your sadness. “I didn’t mean to... cause anythin’...”
“Fuck, no, Y/N, I’m so sorry!” Calum pleaded, having him try to get to you. He ripped Michael’s hands off him. But Ashton blocked him, having Calum struggle in his arms as Ashton kept him away. “Ashton, she’s fucking crying, she needs a hug!”
“If you hug her now, you’ll be stuck here and we have to perform in about 3 minutes,” Ashton said bitterly. He looked over at you and shot you a sympathetic smile. “You’ve already done the damage as is, lad. You might as well give her time.”
“But she needs answers and--!” Michael tried, but Ashton was far too assertive.
“We’re at a pop-up show and we have to deliver what the people have come and paid for.” You knew it pained Ashton to leave you unanswered and teary-eyed on your own. But the both of you understood and you were okay with it. Ashton always decides things with the right intentions, so you didn’t mind waiting.
“Ash,” you began softly, patting the back of his shoulder with your hand. “You can let go of him, it’s alright. I’m not mad or anything. And I’ll let him go in time for the performance.” Reluctantly, Ashton unwrapped his arms from your boyfriend and stepped to the side with Luke and Michael. Quickly, Calum grabbed you in an embrace.
You felt your heart get soothed by Calum’s familiar hug and the warmth he always provides. It always felt nice just to be held by him, even if it’s a few minutes worth of silence. His scent was intoxicating, and hugging was just one of the most intimate things you like doing with him without stripping.
“I’m sorry for accusing you, love,” Calum whispered gently at your ear. His fingers of one hand weaved through your hair and began to massage your scalp slowly. “I know you’d never do something like that-- especially because I haven’t even told you the pass code to my phone. You’re right.”
“It’s okay,” you muttered against his chest. You felt bad for soiling his shirt with your tears, even though they’re just salty and transparent. “I’m not mad at you. I just wanted to know why you were... dreaming about her...” You slowly raise your arms up and grab onto the back of Calum’s shirt. They hung loose, but were firmly stuck.
“That makes perfect sense, you deserve that.” He hugged you a little tighter, the both of you silently listening as the crowd was clapping off One OK Rock. But you nor Calum really wanted to separate from the current embrace. It felt so inviting and endearing, you wanted it to last forever. “Y/N, we have to...”
“Okay.” You quickly obliged, letting Calum go as you looked at his sad face. It was a genuine pout, his cheeks a little bloated with his eyes glossed with potential tears. You have seen him cry before, and you really dislike it. So he sucked it up for you and sent you a sad smile.
“Calum,” Ashton called out to Calum as One OK Rock hugged Luke and Michael. Ashton held his two drumsticks in one hand, clenching them strongly in annoyance. “That’s my cousin you’re with, alright? Stop fucking around with her feelings. It’s pissing me off.”
With that, Ashton escaped onto the dimly lit stage where the fans shouted again like a wave. Calum quickly gave Taka and his band some appreciation as well as you did. You tried ridding your face of tears and hoped that backstage was dim enough so they didn’t see your bloated, red face.
“Did you enjoy the show, Y/N?” Taka asked excitedly, seeing him glisten from the sweat he has collected. You smiled with some regret, knowing that you didn’t get to listen to the last few songs from the brewing drama.
“You guys are amazing!” You mused. “My favorite was Wherever You Are. It was so nice, so sweet... Wherever you are, I’ll always make you smile-- I loved it so much!” You giggled from your awful singing, but Taka applauded you and encouraged it.
“You’re really cheeky, Y/N,” Taka compliments. “I’m really glad you’re gonna join us when we head to America for the North American tour.” You nodded in agreement, giving him another hug as well as the others before they disappeared back stage to change.
“We’ll see you on stage, Calum!” Michael called out to the Māori as he and Luke were ready with their guitars. The workers were ensuring that the ear pieces were good before letting them on stage. Calum gives them a nod as he grabs his bass and straps it on him. He then goes to you and cups your face.
“Hey beautiful, please stop crying, okay?” Calum said softly. His thumbs swiped along the top of your cheeks, feeling the little tears that were left on them. “We’ll talk about it after the concert on the plane ride tonight, okay?”
“We’re going on a plane tonight?” You exclaimed, looking into the boy’s eyes with shock. It’s going to be 9 or 10 P.M. by the time the boys finish their concert. Leaving Japan at night? You lot are going to be exhausted beyond compared, and that’s coming from a college student.
“The management is really pissed,” Calum said with a chuckle. You giggled with him, feeling goosebumps collect along your arms as he touched your face. It was so delightful and comforting to know that Calum will explain everything to you. It kept your stomach from churning. “Anyways... d’you mind if I could get a good luck kiss? I know you must be fumed at me and--”
Before he knew it, you got on your toes and grabbed the back of his neck to place your lips on his. He was shocked at first, but quickly melted into the kiss. He bent down so it was easier for you, having you smile against his lips before nipping at the bottom ones. They were so soft, so moist. They tasted like cocoa butter and Doritos, and you were completely fine with it. He moaned lightly against your lips, feeling the vibration of the sounds against your mouth.
“Fuck, as much as I want to keep kissing you,” Calum said quickly once he pulled you off. “I have a performance to go to.”
“Go,” you whispered, giving him a reassuring smile. “They need you out there, punkrocker.” With those words in mind, Calum gives you another kiss on your forehead before fleeing to the stage. You smiled, feeling your heart calm down now that Calum was going to be willing to talk to you.
On the plane, 10:43 P.M.
The plane had a quick, but steady lift off from the ground and away into the air from the airport. All the boys were already seated, riding in Coach seats as the management treated them with luxury. Behind you and Calum, there was Luke with Ashton, asleep. Beside you, Taka was sat with his drummer, speaking in Japanese ever so casually. In front of you, Michael had his own two free seats to extend his legs.
“Alright, then,” Calum began, his voice immensely calm as he turned a bit to face you better. You watch as he takes out his phone from his pocket and holds it in both of his hands. “Nia Lovelis is the drummer of Hey Violet. I assume the lads told you?” You nodded. “And we met the band in 2015, so it’s been a while.”
“So... Me and Nia hit it off pretty well, I think,” Calum began softly. “We had a lot of things in common, we went out to eat a lot when the others were busy, and she was always available to me whenever I felt off track. Of course, she wasn’t a you, but she was some sort of support to me and I appreciated that.”
“I’m glad she was there for you,” you said softly. It bothered you a bit that you couldn’t be, but Calum was accordingly annoyed at you at that time and couldn’t find the balls to reconnect with you.
“But it went to the point where I wanted affection,” Calum admitted, clearing his throat as he bobbed his Adams apple. “And I knew that she fancied me. She made it so incredibly obvious. All these flirtatious touches, getting me small gifts-- it was so annoying. But I used her liking of me in order to... satisfy my needs.”
“D-did you... have, um...” You couldn’t let the word sex slip out without feeling awkward and embarrassed. But Calum caught on and shook his head.
“Nah, it was just a lot of kissing and cuddling really,” Calum said simply. “But during all of it, I just didn’t find her attractive. She’s beautiful, really, and I think she has a nice personality. But Nia just isn’t my cup of tea...” You giggled.
“S-so that was all then?” You asked for confirmation. “You guys didn’t date, you just sort’ve had a fling without the sex.”
“Exactly.” Calum let that word slip so easily. You just knew the certainty in his voice and trusted it completely. After all, Calum willingly ripped you away from Nick Jonas in order to have you. And they’re pretty good friends.
“I feel much better,” you say with a long sigh. Calum chuckled lowly as he rubbed your upper back. “It put me in a shitty mood, and that’s why I was like that this morning.”
“Oh shit, I’m sorry, Princess!” Calum said as he pulled you in for a quick hug. “I honestly didn’t mean to hurt you. I didn’t even know her name slipped off my tongue in my sleep.”
“You were probably dreaming and she was innit,” you proposed.
“But I don’t even know what I did in the dream or said in it as well,” Calum admits, his shoulders dropping from his lack of remembering. You placed your hand over his, reassuring him that it was all okay. “D’you know what I said? Like, what you heard?”
“Oh, well...” You began, looking distantly at his phone. “You said ‘I love her,’ and it was a little broken. And then you said ‘I’m sorry, Nia,’ like you’ve hurt her feelings.”
“I did hurt her feelings, actually.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, she asked me out, right,” Calum began. “But I just really wasn’t interested, and I dropped both that and our whole little thing we had. Whatever it was. It’s been like 2 or 3 months since then.”
The way Calum had been explaining it to you seemed so casual. Earlier, he went insane that you even uttered her name. But now that he knew why you were curious, he was okay with it. Talk about being cold.
“Did you even enjoy it?” You asked semi-shyly.
“Not really,” Calum said quietly. “And even though I cut that off with her, she still annoys me about it. I want to show you-- but not to piss you off, but to show that I don’t give a fuck.” He opened his phone, having you notice that he opened it slowly to show you the pass code.
“Your pass code...” You began. “It’s my birthday?” Calum looked at you with a soft smile, his almost eyes slightly glowing.
“Well, yeah...” Calum began. “It’s been like that for a while now. I just thought of you constantly that this just happened subconsciously.” You felt your heart flutter at that as you watched him pull out a few text messages. “I’m gonna scroll up to even before you came and we hooked up.”
Taking the phone in your hand, you delicately press against the screen with your index finger. Your eyes widened in shock to see how desperate this girl was for Calum. But you felt at ease when Calum repeatedly turned her down or ignored her.

“It was wrong of me to use her since I acknowledged her feelings,” Calum said quietly, shame dancing on his tongue. “But I desperately wanted some stimulation and she was very obvious.” You nodded, returning his phone graciously as you gave him a small smile.
“I’m very happy you told me, though,” you said softly. “I felt so nervous, I didn’t know what to think when you said her name in your sleep. I’m sorry I felt a little insecure...”
“Y/N, no!” Calum exclaimed, putting his phone away to hold your hands in his. “I should be sorry. I overreacted to a point where had the best assumption to believe I was cheating on you. I was so nervous that you read those texts or something without knowing the real story, even if I was denying them in the convo. I just didn’t want you to think she was above you or anything, because she isn’t. And don’t think I’ll do what I did to her-- every girl I’ve touched, you were the only one in my mind. The only girl in my head.”
You quickly leaned in to kiss Calum on his lips. After those words, you felt like your head was in the clouds. Pure elation was emitting you as you kissed the tender lips of the boy you adore so much. He was so sweet and so cautious, even if he ended up hurting you for a moment. You knew he’d never do anything to hurt you on purpose and for that, you are grateful.
“Y/N, I wanted to ask you something,” Calum began as he slowly detached from your lips. You pout at the lack of his warm lips, but light up in confusion to his request. “But I wasn’t sure to because you’d think it would be unnecessary or corny.”
“Calum, you can literally ask me anything,” you reassure softly, squeezing those calloused hands of his.
“When we get to New York City and take ourselves a nice, long rest,” Calum began slowly, having his cheeks flush a bit. “We can take the whole day off to go on a date. I know it sounds cheesy, but I want to show you all my favorite places of the city and just be in your presence.”
“Calum, that’s not corny!” You urged, looking down at your hands distantly. His large ones covered yours, seeing the contrast from your soft ones with his rough ones. But you couldn’t help and love his hands and how warm they made you feel just by the touch. “That’s incredibly romantic and we haven’t really had a proper date yet...”
“Then yeah?” Calum’s eyes glowed.
“Yeah,” you say happily, receiving another sweet kiss from Calum as you guys squeezed each others hands. Everything felt back to normal again, feeling the warmth of his love return to your heart completely.
New York City, 1:18 P.M.
“Make sure she actually gets into her pajamas, okay?” Ashton called out to Calum, having him chuckle before nodding. You were so tired, you barely had the energy to move your body much. So Calum got a separate luggage cart and put your fetal-positioned body on it. Although silly, it was convenient that he was rolling you around so you didn’t have to use your legs.
“I’ll try, mate,” Calum snickered, having you listen as he took out the keycard to your suite and accessed it with ease.
“And don’t try anything funny, Hood!” Ashton hissed as Calum rolled you inside. You couldn’t help but smile while you attempted to remain asleep. Calum even chuckled a bit before closing the door and turning on the lights. Opening your eyes just a bit, you saw another nice hotel room you had the pleasure to stay in.
“Hey, Princess,” Calum called to you softly, having you tilt your head over to look up at the Maori boy before you. He looked just as exhausted as you. It made you frown a bit, but he was used to this lifestyle by now. It didn’t affect him much. “Let’s get you out of those clothes and into bed, yeah?”
“But I’m so... sleepy...” You muttered, your mouth extremely dry. You had slept an hour by the end of the flight, having you still dead from the flight. Especially because it was daytime, you couldn’t help but dread the light. You felt bad that your sleeping schedule was going to be ruined, but you didn’t mind that too much. “Calum... the curtains--”
“I got it, love.” Calum grabbed down all the black curtains of the windows, dimming the room an incredible amount. You watched as he slowly deprived you of the beautiful sight that was New York. But you honestly couldn’t handle the daytime right now. “Let’s get you comfortable, baby.”
Calum goes over and grabs you by your wrists, having you grab his so he could lift you up. You felt him sqeeze your wrists tightly and bring you to your feet with all the strength he had. You wrapped your arm over his shoulder as he wrapped his arm around your waist. Guiding you over to the bathroom, he turned on the light and noticed the huge counter of the sink.
“Up you go!” Calum began, grabbing your waist with both of his hands as he lifted you up on the counter. Your upper body felt fairly weak from exhaustion, having you constantly sturggling to keep yourself up as Calum fled to get you pajamas from your luggage. He came back quickly with some pastel shorts and a No Face shirt from Hot Topic. “Do you want me to help you?”
“N-no, I can handle it...” You said sleepily, a yawn escaping your lips right after. He chuckled, shaking his head before going to grab the hem of your shirt. You obliged and lifted your arms, allowing him to peel off your shirt. You attentively notice his face when staring at your torso, his cheeks turning into a sudden pink hue.
It was cute to see Calum struggle to change you. He was so cautious not to touch your skin too much as you were tired. But you could see the desire in his eyes, so hot and everlasting, that you almost felt bad. But he was being a gentleman when tossing your shirt aside.
“U-um...” Calum began, his voice much quieter as he shyly had his hands lifted. “Do you want to keep the bra on?”
“Mm mm, take it off, please...” You said softly, partially from being bothered from it and partially to see Calum’s expression.
His eyes were completely wide now, no trace of tiredness anywhere. His cheeks were flushing, with blood surging into them without his control. You watched through the small slivers of your eyelids how he began to get closer. You opened your legs, allowing his torso to be between them. You then felt his chest against yours.
“I-I’m sorry, I have to reach over you t-to...” He stuttered adorably, having you nod in understanding. You felt as his fingers grabbed onto the latch, feeling his calloused fingers touch the warmth of your back. He was struggling to unclasp it, having you giggle a bit before he finally got it. He resided his chin on your shoulder, with his eyes completely shut to pull down the straps and remove the bra. Thats when Calum lost a bit of balance and pushed more against you.
“Sh-shit...”
His strong chest was now really against yours, feeling your nipples perk up a bit from the impact and the lack of warmth from the bra. You knew Calum felt a little flustered up. One by the fact that he could feel your breasts against his chest. And two, the low moan you let out right by his ear.
“I don’t see why you’re so flustered, Cal,” you teased in a raspy tone. “You have seen and sucked on these breasts before. Remember Dublin?”
“Sh-shut up, I’m not flustered!” Calum denied, but you both knew he was. You giggled as you took Calums head and removed it from your shoulder. “Y/N, I am not opening my eyes--”
“You don’t have to, stupid,” you say softly. “I’ll put on the shirt myself, okay?” He nodded, having you grab the shirt and slip it on with ease. Leaning your hands back down on the counter, you leaned back a bit to watch your oblivious boyfriend. You felt like teasing him a bit.
“Are you done yet?” Calum asked, his eyes squeezed shut. You slowly lift your shirt up over your breasts, enough to show the both of them and their perky state.
“Yeah, you can open your eyes now.” You watch as Calum opens them. His eyes immediately go down at your breast, having him flush up again with his lips parting a bit. You smirked, grabbing his shirt to prevent him from backing away.
“You sure are a tease, aren’t you?” Calum growled lowly, having you giggle as you pulled him over to smash his lips on yours. You wrapped your arms around his neck to keep him close. It felt so good, feeling his lips on yours. They were slightly chapped but tasted like cocoa butter and danced with your lips perfectly. His bottom lip fit perfectly between yours as you sucked it eagerly. And although you were dominating just a bit, Calum wasn’t complaining.
“Fuck, baby,” Calum moaned into your mouth, pulling away slowly as the two of you panted. Saliva had connected the both of your lips like a clothesline. It broke on its own and slid to the ground into oblivion. You were just as flushed as him now, feeling a bit embarrassed. “What happened to your tiredness?”
“It went on temporary leave,” you joked quietly, having Calum chuckle a bit. You noticed that from your kissing, the shirt had slid back down and covered your breasts once more. It was warm and nice, even though its freedom was restricted again. “But now it’s back.”
“Alright, let’s get your shorts on at the bed.” You nodded, yawning again as you wrapped your arms around your boyfriends waist. With your arms already wrapped around his neck, Calum hugs you with his and lifts you from the counter. You rest your head on his shoulder as he grabs your shorts and escapes from the bathroom. He walked over to the single, King sized bed of the room and gently laid you down on it.
Under your arms, you felt the softness of the black, silky sheets. It was soothing and smelled like lemongrass and lavender. It perfectly combined with Calum’s touch. He was very delicate as you felt the back of his fingers slide down your thighs to pull your pants down. Coolness was introduced to your warm legs, but you hadn’t minded much as you lifted your waist up to allow Calum to slip on your shorts. At this rate, you wouldn’t have minded for Calum to take you here right now--
“There,” Calum mumbled, having you nod as you stood up and groggily walked over to the kitchen. You snorted when you walked past the cart you were brought in and sifted through the fridge for water. “Can you bring me a water bottle, too, love?”
“Mhm.” Taking the two cool drinks in your hands, you walk back over to halt in surprise. You try to take in Calum removing his shirt to see his torso exposed. Tanned and toned as ever, with tattoos kissing his body all over. He wasn’t extremely built, but you knew he did try to keep himself in shape. And he is currently succeeding at that. To continue, his back was turned to you as he bent down to slide his pants down. You bit your bottom lip to see his cute butt covered by his black, Calvin Klein boxers. They were tight, outlining the features of his rear perfectly.
“Stop checking me out,” Calum said with a snort as he glanced behind. You blushed, walking over as he straightened up and sat down on the bed. You placed the bottles on the bedside table as Calum fished for his phone from his pants and opened it. “Y/N, c’mere for a sec.”
“Everything okay?” You hummed, crawling to the end of the bed to get next to him. You watch as he opened his camera and switched it to selfie mode.
“Let’s take a photo,” Calum insisted with a warm smile.
“Won’t the fans get mad?” You asked nervously. You were immensely considerate and thoughtful about Calum and the boys’ life. You didn’t want to ruin their career at all nor upset their fans.
“A few might from jealousy,” Calum admitted. “But those girls at the airport like you, and a lot of fans loved the video Ashton had posted about us. So let’s take a photo, Princess.”
“Okay!”
Although you guys were tired, you had a lot of fun with your own little photo shoot. Calum couldn’t help himself, making the both of you do ridiculous poses. He even took several photos of just you attempting to be vogue. And even though you were insecure, you loved how happy it made the both of you feel. But Calum had finally settles for one photo in particular.
It was a photo of you and him where your arms were wrapped around his neck loosely and he was smiling like he has never smiled before.
“This one is perfect,” Calum said, smiling fondly as he provided some sort of cheeky caption and uploaded it on Twitter. “I can’t wait for my fans to see how beautiful you are right now.” He quickly squished your face like he does, but much more gently, to pull you in for a quick peck on the lips.
“Shush,” you pout, feeling blood rush into your cheeks once more. He chuckled, allowing you to escape back up to the top of the bed to grab the water bottles. You return to him and pass him one, having the both of you drink it with much haste before tossing the empty bottles to the ground.
“Alright, switching on my low battery mode and heading to bed,” Calum concluded, grabbing the blanket off the bed and slipping himself in. You quickly join, residing to his right as the both of you shifted for comfort. You hadn’t known about Calum, but you couldn’t settle real easily.
“I’m cold...” You complained in a groan, shifting a lot in order to generate heat somehow. But you just didn’t feel any warmer.
“C’mere then, baby,” Calum cooed. You got on all four, only to have Calum grab your waist and guide you over on top of him. His body was now between your legs as you sat on his crotch. And, of course, Calum couldn’t help but release a light moan.
“Are you trying to say something, babe?” You asked quietly as you sat on his crotch gently. You watch Calum bite his bottom lip as he pushed his head back into the pillow.
“I’m far too tired for that,” Calum admitted. “But I really do want to do it with you soon. Before you leave to your studies again.” You blushed, knowing the both of you were on the same page.
Sex.
“Y-yeah, we should...” You choked up a bit. Although you understand why the two of you would and you really would like to, sex was simply a flustering topic. It made you feel all sorts of ways. To be exposed to Calum, showing him your rawness as he shows you his. Sharing body heat with skin touching skin at a constant. Having him fill himself inside you, with the most gentlest yet exhilarating thrusts.
“I can’t wait,” Calum said, giving you a genuine grin as he held your waist. You nod, sliding down so one side of your body was back on the bed. But you kept the other leg on him with your arms wrapped around his neck. He was so warm, and smelled like coconut oil. He was all you needed to sleep a good sleep.
“Good night, Calum,” you whispered in his ear, nuzzling into his neck right after. Calum’s arm slid over around you as he kept his hand on your side. His index finger rubbed small circles on it, having it tickle you gently but not enough to laugh.
“Goodnight, my love.” Calum planted a sweet kiss on your head as you slowly flutter your eyelids shut. “Dream about me.”
“I can’t,” you say with a small smile. “You’re the wish I always dreamed about and it came true already.”

Nicole
“It’s not funny Nicole; he’s a jackass for doing that bullshit.” Mariah snapped at me because I was laughing at the fact that Tristan admitted to getting her pregnant on purpose. She was talking about it wasn’t funny, that shit is funny as fuck if you ask me. It would be Tristan’s ass to do some shit like that.
“Nah bitch, this shit is funny what you mean?”
“How is it funny? This nigga trapped me,”
“No he didn’t he just let nature do what it’s supposed to do. You said you weren’t using condoms and if you’re not on birth control and the nigga not pulling out fuck you thought was going to happen? You got a child already bitch, I know you know basic biology.”
“That’s not the point though; he just did it to get me pregnant.”
“Listen,” I calmed my laughing down some. “Preventing diseases and pregnancies and shit like that is a two person job. If you didn’t want to get pregnant by his ass you shouldn’t have been fuckin’ him like a jack rabbit without protection fool.”
“Whatever Nicole you think everything funny, let Rashad pull some shit like this on you.”
“He wouldn’t because I’m on birth control. If I wasn’t I wouldn’t be shocked if my ass popped up pregnant.”
“Yeah aight whatever, what are you doing anyway?”
“Nothing, I’m at Rashad’s place. I literally haven’t seen my apartment in two weeks.”
“The fuck? Why not, what about work?”
“I got fired because I was showing up late and missing mad days all because of Rashad.”
“Damn so what are you going to do for money? I mean I know Rashad got it but you’re not about to sit back and do nothing.”
“I’ve been handling some stuff for the hotel here in the city so yeah, I work for this nigga.”
“That’s not going to get complicated is it?”
“No because he knows just like I don’t play about him, I don’t play about my money. He’s tried that shit though, we’ll be at the hotel and he’ll try to fuck but I shut that shit the fuck down. Work is work, home is home and we’re not going to mix the two because then it would just piss me the fuck off and nobody wants that.”
“Well shit handle your business baby girl. I’m still mad you found that stupid shit funny,”
“The shit is funny, girl you’re having a baby by a fine ass rich ass nigga who’s crazy as hell but loves you. Be happy, and stop whining about every damn thing.”
“Whatever, what are you doing tonight?”
“Nothing, Rashad said his sister is supposed to be coming over,” I rolled my eyes at the mere thought of his sister Kelly. That bitch irks my nerves, but what can you expect from a crackhead?
“Oop do I detect some drama?”
“Man I told you the bitch got a drug problem so Rashad sent her daughter to live with their older sister Chrissy down in Atlanta. She feels like somehow the shit is my fault, talking about he never really been hard on her before I came around.”
“Why the hell would that be your fault?”
“He told her she needs to either go into rehab or he was keeping Kayla down south and cutting her ass off. She didn’t do shit so he really did cut her off. The nigga she married to is a crackhead so he’s broke and without Rashad doing anything for her she’s broke too and she feels like I’m the one who told him to do it.”
“Did you?”
“No, he brought it up to me and asked my opinion. I agreed with him,” I shrugged. “That’s not me telling him to do some shit, he already had it made up in his head that’s that was what he was going to do.”
“So y’all don’t get along?”
“I never met her before but I would answer his phone when she would call and the bitch would cuss my ass out. You already know I’m two seconds away from nuts so I cussed her ass out right back, I swear to God I can’t stand crackheads they just do too much.”
“I think you should talk to her, you don’t really know her to judge her situation. You’re basing that shit off your sister.”
“You’re right; I was in the same exact position and trusted a damn crackhead to keep their word and what happened? She robbed my ass then went and OD’d before I could beat her ass or get my shit back.”
Rashad’s situation with his sister was something I could relate to because I went through the same exact thing with my older sister Nia. She was young, beautiful, talented, and smart but she met the wrong nigga and got hooked on drugs. I never gave up on my sister, because I knew she was beyond what she had become. I put her in multiple facilities; I even let her stay with me sometimes turning a blind eye every time she stole something for her dumb ass drug habit.
The last time I saw my sister alive was two years ago, I let her stay the night with me and when I woke up she cleared damn near my whole living room out. Some of my furniture was missing, my electronics and everything was gone. It was literally one week after she stole from me that they found her body dead in a crack house.
“Alright they may not be the situation with his sister, maybe she’s really ready to get her shit together.”
“We’ll see but I’m not even going to input on that shit. He can have it, I will end up putting my hands on her and I don’t want to do that. It’s just irritating because that shit really affects everybody. It’s not just a oh she gets high it doesn’t hurt anybody, thing. This bitch has a child, she has a family that is willing to help her ass and she doesn’t realize that.”
“That type of shit takes time Nic and you know that.”
“I do, and I’m not saying that it doesn’t but she needs to focus on getting herself together before she can dislike me for some shit I didn’t even do. Rashad is a grown ass man, fuck I look like telling him what to do with his money? I can’t even make the nigga leave me alone at night with his forever horny ass.”
“Just go into the situation with an open mind aight.”
“Yeah whatever, you trying to tell me what to do but you’re mad at Tristan for fucking you and getting you pregnant even though you never made him strap up or got on birth control. Right,”
“Shut the hell up,” She laughed. “I’m about to go eat I’m done talking to you, especially since you wanna act like you can’t be on my side.”
“Whatever I’ll talk to you later light bright.”
“Aight,” we ended the call and just as I was about lay down Rashad came in the room staring at me.
“What creepy ass?”
“My sister is here, come in the living room.”
“Why? I don’t need to sit in on your conversation,”
“Alright, but I want you there. Plus you’ll stop me from knocking her damn head off if she says some stupid shit.”
“Alright fine,” I got off the bed shaking my head at this nigga and his hand problems. “Come on,” I walked out to the living room with him and sat on the couch across from his sister.
I couldn’t help but feel bad for her, the beautiful woman she once was, was gone. She looked a hot ass mess now. From the pictures Rashad showed me Kelly was fuckin’ gorgeous at one point. She was a tall, thick, chocolate something special. She put me in the mind of Bria Myles, but now she was thin as a rail her hair was all fucked up, her face looked like the shit could crack if you plucked her good enough. She was gone.
“Why is she in here when I’m speaking to you Rashad?” Kelly asked him.
“I told her to come in here, tell me what you wanna talk about Kelly.”
“I want my daughter back.”
“Well you already know that shit aint happening until you get clean and stay that way.”
“You sent her away without my permission Rashad. That was low, even for you.”
“Whatever it was necessary, what can you do for her? You’re on drugs, you and that bum ass nigga you married. You had all of that shit around Kayla, she didn’t need to see it. So yes I sent her away,”
“I want my daughter back, are you going to give her back to me?”
“Get your shit together and we’ll see.”
“Really? Well I’m sorry Rashad,”
“Sorry for what?” I asked, completely confused. She didn’t even say anything she just smirked as there was a knock on the door. Rashad got up and went to his front door, when he opened it two police officers were standing there.
“What’s going on?” Rashad asked.
“Rashad Carter, you are under arrest for taking a minor over state lines.” One of the officers said then they turned him around to handcuff him.
“What the fuck?” I got off the couch and ran over to the door. “Y’all can’t arrest him this bitch is a fuckin’ drug addict!”
“I’m sorry ma’am but what he did was illegal.”
“Nicole, baby don’t even worry about it alright. Just come bail me out.”
“What?”
“Come get me out, call my lawyer and come get me out.”
“I’m sorry baby but I can’t bail you out.”
“What you mean? Yes the fuck you can what are you talking about?”
“I can’t I’m going to be in the cell right next to you. Y’all might as well wait,” I went back in the living room where this bitch was poking around and stuffing shit in her pockets. I didn’t even say anything to her, I just hopped on her ass like a spider monkey. She thought she was about to come in here, set him up, steal and go on about her life like she didn’t just do some fucked up shit? Oh hell nah, she’s getting her ass beat TODAY.

Rashad
Walking into my house with Nicole right behind me I went straight to my bathroom, stripped and got in the shower. All I wanted to do was blow one down, bust a nut and go to sleep. I was over everything that happened today, Kelly really set me up to be arrested. The only thing I’m trying to figure out is what was she going to get out of it? Okay, I got arrested, I’m not a broke ass nigga bail money aint shit she knew I was going to get out.
“Baby!” I heard Nicole shouting before hearing the bathroom room door open. “Rashad, the TV that was in the living room is missing. Your stereo system is missing; the bitch even took appliances out the kitchen.”
“Are you fuckin’ serious?”
“Dead ass serious, she didn’t take everything but she took enough.” I finished my shower and threw some sweatpants on before going in the living room. “What else is missing?”
“The TV’s from the guest rooms, some of my clothes, some of your watches, she even took the necklace you bought me.” Nicole shook her head.
“This is some bullshit,”
“It is, but you just have to pick yourself up and move on. I know it’s hard babe but you just have to.”
“What do I do about her?”
“Nothing, there’s nothing you can do for or about her until she’s ready to get her shit together. The only person that can save Kelly is Kelly.”
“I’m mobbing man,”
“Why?”
“Come on now, you saw my sister she’s not moving all that shit by herself which means she let muthafuckas in here which means niggas know my address and they know what I have up here.”
“Stay at my place,”
“Oh now you wanna live with me?”
“Until you get your new place smart ass,” She chuckled.
“Thanks but no thanks, I don’t feel like duckin’ every time I walk in a room. I’m going to find another apartment or some shit.” I grabbed her hand pulling her close to me. “Move in with me.”
“Shad we talked about this,”
“We did and that was then this is now. I want you to move in with me baby, give me a reason why you can’t.”
“I don’t wanna move to fast, we’re not Ebony and Kaylin alright.”
“You’re right, they’re damn near married. I’m just asking to have the privilege of waking up and going to sleep next to you. You work out here at the hotel anyway, what’s stopping you?”
“I just don’t wanna rush.”
“It’s not rushing, you act like I’m going to hold you hostage if it doesn’t work out, and I’m talking about us living together because we’re not breaking up. Ever.”
“You sound so sure,” She smiled looking up at me.
“I am sure, i’m not going to find better and neither are you. We’re meant to be together the sooner you get that the easier shit will be baby.”
“Shad, just let me think about it alright?” That wasn’t what I wanted to hear but the shit was better than a no.
“Think about it, and let me know. Either way I’m moving but let me know so you can have an input on where we live.”
“I got you. Now come on, you need a stress reliever.” She grabbed my hand and pulled me over to the couch pushing me down. When she dropped to her knees in front of me I smile at her. This is one of the main reasons she’s never going anywhere.
“She robbed you? That’s fucked up.” Tristan shook his head. We were sitting at the bar at one of his spots just choppin’ it up having a few drinks.
“Nah what’s fucked up is you getting Mariah pregnant on purpose.” Kay told him. “Nigga, she was on the phone with Hersh for two hours behind that shit.”
“I’m going to tell you just like I told her, if she didn’t want to get pregnant she should’ve been on birth control or made a nigga pull out or strap up. She didn’t do that, so it’s not my fault.”
“Nigga it is your fault,” I laughed at him. This nigga always saying some other shit, I often wonder why I even hang with his slow ass.
“She’ll be aight she was still mad before I left but I made her squirt so she good again.”
“This nigga,” Kaylin shook his head, I know he was thinking the same thing I was.
“Man whatever, what’s up with y’all and that baby daddy shit? I thought that nigga was a lost cause.”
“He is, she said she didn’t even know he was going to be there.”
“You know she dead ass pushed me out the way when I tried to break it up right? She was cheering you on,” I chuckled. I knew Eb was crazy but that night just confirmed that shit for me.
“I know she told me, she’s not here for that nigga. She don’t fuck with him at all, but you know what’s crazy I didn’t tell her this though. That night when I was walking out I could’ve sworn I saw her sister there.”
“Duh nigga Jas was in the section with us.”
“No nigga, she has another sister. Remember we had that party at the strip club, and that thick bitch was on my dick but I passed her to you.” He asked me and I nodded.
“Yeah she was a lazy fuck, bitch just laid there. She aint pop that puss or nothing.” I shook my head. “What about her?”
“That’s her sister nigga, I met her one day a few months back when we were at the park with Jayden.”
“So your girl’s sister tried to fuck you before? Oh shit, that’s some messy shit man.”
“I know but I didn’t fuck, and now I know why that shit didn’t happen. You fucked her though.”
“That shit doesn’t matter, she aint my girls sister. Who was she there with? How is her being in the club crazy?”
“I was drinking that night, I mean I was guzzling that shit but I swear before all that drama happened I saw her cuddling up with that nigga. I mean the bitch aint nothing special, typical fake body having ass broad but I know my eyes work and I saw that shit.”
“So you saw her baby daddy and didn’t warn her?”
“I didn’t know that was him, I never seen the nigga before that night.” He shrugged.
“Are you sitting here telling us Ebony’s sister was cuddled up with her baby father?” Tristan asked him.
“Yeah,”
“Oh shit,” I started laughing my ass off because this was straight up reality TV, Jerry Springer shit. “Yo you know if you right and Ebony finds out she’s going to kill that bitch right?”
“Hell yeah that’s why I don’t want her to find out, hell I hope I was drunk and just seeing shit. Fuck all that though back to you and Nicole getting locked the fuck up.”
“Man,” I shook my head then drank some of my beer. “I don’t even wanna think about that shit. Thank you for bailing me out though, I’ll get the money back to you.”
“You good don’t even worry about it. Why did you let Nicole beat her ass though?”
“Let her? I was handcuffed and couldn’t do shit. She was about to swing on one of the cops but I guess my yelling at her hardheaded ass made her remember who she was being held by. That would’ve been one hell of a charge, as far as the assault shit Kelly’s drugged out ass isn’t going to go to court.”
“You know you gotta move though right? Niggas know where you live at and shit.” Tristan said and I nodded.
“I know man, I’m going to start looking tomorrow. I’m trying to get Nicole to move in with me but she’s on that it’s too soon shit.”
“Hersh tried that but I bought Jayden with us to see a house so she couldn’t say no after that. Nicole aint that easy, she would’ve said no anyway.”
“Exactly, she’s stubborn as fuck. It’ll work out though.” If you looked up the word stubborn in the dictionary you would see a picture of Nicole sitting right there because she’s the exact definition of that shit.
The girl doesn’t listen and she has a fucked up attitude. She’s like a small female version of me and I love that shit because she bites back. Other bitches I fucked with would back down as soon as I looked at their asses. Nicole, she doesn’t do that she’ll look me up and down and tell me to fix my damn face but at the same time she knows when to just sit back and let me lead the way. You don’t find too many women like that. Plus she’s smart, she works her ass off, she’s beautiful as fuck and she can knock a bitch out.  She’s the perfect woman for me.
God himself would have to come down from heaven to get me to leave her ass alone because I’m not doing it for anybody walking this earth that’s for damn sure.
