below the cut is a full breakdown of my design, including its evolution, my thought process, and other unposted drawings relating to this project, so read on if you’re interested!!

okay, so real talk, I first decided I wanted to make my own Wanda design because I Could Not be bothered to keep looking up refs for whatever tf is going on with her mcu costume bodice. I mean, look at this:

I mean, maybe it looks okay onscreen, but there’s so many fiddly little details, especially around the collar, and it was just a pain to draw whenever I would draw my Wanda. and okay I’ll be real I also wanted to distance my Wanda from the whitewashed Wendy version of her, because I Do What I Want. and also, the dullness of the reds did not spark joy within my heart. she’s the Scarlet Witch, people, not the Vaguely Maroon Witch!!

and I fell in love with the Kevin Wada design when I first saw it. it’s gorgeous, it’s sleek, it’s witchy, and it’s significantly less frustrating to draw!!

so for a while, I drew my Wanda in a variation of this fit, blended with some of my own touches (a high ponytail + an occasional choker) and a few of the things I did like from her mcu fit (the crown + the half skirt thingamabob + the long cape). but I was still feeling :/ about it, mainly because while the off-the-shoulder design looks lovely, I found it tricky to draw whenever Wanda would raise her hands above her head. exhibit a below:

behold, the sketch for an old drawing I never finished!! and I know artists smarter than me have figured out How The Sleeves, because some comics even today still use this design, but I only have so many brain cells to spend, and I felt like simplifying things for myself even further.

that was when Russell Dauterman’s design for the 2022 Hellfire Gala dropped. and I went FERAL.

it’s gorgeous!! it’s stunning!! high collars my beloved!! so I took the collar design and ran with it for my own design.

behold, a janky rendition of my costume design in the crappy colored pencils provided to us during my fashion design class!! I know, I know, the coloring looks atrocious, but I was working with what I had. now, you may have already noticed some elements not present in any of the designs I cited as my influences. let’s talk about those!!

the sleeves are split from the main bodice as gloves: this was for my own sanity, haha. it was a construction my smol lizard brain could comprehend and work with much better than Whatever is going on with the comics designs.

the red portion of the gloves tapers in kind of a V design rather than cutting off at the fingers: personally, I felt like this accentuated the elegant flow of all the hand gestures Wanda makes when using her powers better than the classic fingerless design, or whatever thumb strap thingy was going on with her MoM costume.

where’d the design for her cloak clasp come from?: now we all know that tumblr’s pixel budget is next to nil, but if you zoom in, you’ll notice that the clasp of Wanda’s cloak is not her M crown design, but rather a golden kinda coffin-shaped thingy. see, I saw this one theory that this hex shape in Wanda’s mcu bodice was an homage to Vision and the Mind Stone, and I liked that theory, so I referenced it with a hex-shaped clasp.

and the runes on her bodice and skirt?: I actually referenced the Enochian font for those!! according to wikipedia, it’s said to be the language of angels, which feels appropriate for a character as tied to cosmic powers as Wanda. also, real talk, it just looks cool. the script on her bodice originally said “not born, forged,” in reference to the Darkhold’s Scarlet Witch prophecy, but it’s become truncated as the bodice has become shorter to accommodate a more high-waisted structure, which I personally believe to be more flattering in general. I added the runes pretty late in the design process to her skirt to tie the whole fit together visually. from an in-universe perspective, I like to think of the writing as Chthon visually marking Wanda as his creation. his witch.

why does Wanda have a high ponytail when she’s never had one in her most recognizable incarnations?: because a) I do what I want, and b) Alba Flores looks STUNNING in a high ponytail.

and let it never be said that I am not fruity as all heck about Wanda Maximoff <3

so there you have it, a Wanda design that I think is as beautiful, regal, and magical as she is, not to mention one that I can draw repeatedly without having to immediately reach for my phone to Yet Again look up references for how the heck the bodice works.

(and really, it only seemed fitting that the Scarlet Witch of Earth-19384 should receive her own unique design.)

true fact, i searched up “ben affleck.holding dog like sack of potatoes” to get this ref

this is just orv thoughts since i’m reading it for the first time and the tags maxed out on me :( so i’m moving all my predictions and whatnot here. it does exist in my annotations but i want to group them together. if you decide to read pls don’t give spoilers, i only just finished ch 50.

absolutely would die for gilyoung. each time kim dokja goes ‘this kid is cute’ i’m like yes he absolutely is. also wish i started a counter for how many times he pats gilyoung’s head/strokes his hair cause that man is fond.

also i wrote a fic where people were like. comparing one aspect to it to orv and now that i’m getting deeper into yoo joonghyuk (ish) i can’t wait for this man to go through agonies

it’d be interesting if a regression did happen and then we’d get kdj’s narration as it was in the beginning of the novel, though yjh would act differently cause he’s interested in this new prophet. also he did try to recruit gilyoung at a point, and gilyoung might’ve said yes if there was no dokja. so.

also let’s talk about bugs. because in the beginning humans were compared to insects. and that puts me in mind of the three body problem. but more relevantly, gilyoung’s ability is with bugs, and gilyoung is most definitely supposed to at least be a parallel to dokja. so it’s very inch resting

also the re-occurance of a maternal-son relationship. (maternal as in someone is fulfilling that role somehow) and how deficiencies in that have different outcomes. there’s gilyoung and the woman on the train, dokja and his mother, the mother and child at that one place where she encouraged her child to kill (i actually forget if the child was a boy but i think so), and jung heewon with her slightly younger brother (she had to fulfill the parental role (at least she had to force him to go to school) when her mother didn’t do that).

secretive plotter. so i think that they’re either a young yoo joonghyuk or some version of him. i used to think it was young/alt version of dokja partially cause he’s a reader and secretive plotter. but my friend who knows the ending said it wasn’t him. there is an author character though, so maybe it’s a version of her? or wait, one slight spoiler i know is that she was the original writer but dokja thinks she plagiarized off of someone else, and that someone else could be secretive plotter. which would make more sense considering all the scenarios follow ways of survival and so some outside force should be enacting this.

i think dokja might become a constellation in the end. i know people are conflicted about the ending and kdj possibly ends up separated from everyone but it’s happy for him? anyways becoming a constellation would lead to that. and becoming a constellation would mean he has the power to remain a ‘reader’ if he chooses, by watching the streams. but at the same time he can choose not to. he can no longer participate in this story. he can leave the narrative and i think that’s nice. it’s also part of the reason that i thought he could be secretive plotter, since there’s the potential for him to become a constellation, and perhaps in a parallel universe, a young dokja lives through ways of survival and watches orv dokja to see how he would’ve been in another world, had he had the chance to grow up and know what the apocalypse would be like. it would also serve as an additional parallel or foil to gilyoung because gilyoung doesn’t have the choice to grow up in a non apocalyptic world

1. Your first OC ever?

ohh i think i had some random self inserts before but the first ever one that i knew was an oc was mira!! shes changed a bit since then but honestly she went thru one of the smallest changes when it comes to oc changes cuz all i changed was that i made her trans and fat . and a bit goth but she still prefers the same clothes as always aka just. sweatpants id love to show her off but i dont have any finished art of her i just have a half assed ref and a sketch i dont like . also she has purple eyes. but only when i remember that she has purple eyes its just a callback to when she had an insanely weird eye design but i forgor

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?

yeah majority of them tbh!! but i think ayako went thru the biggest change ! she was my 3rd oc ever (after mira and leo) and she used to be this fangirl yaoi moment random xd hot choccy white girl with like long straight hair and absolutely horrendous clothing style i have art of her from 2016 my best friend drew also she used to both ship leo with herself and his boyfriend and canonically wrote fanfiction about them (theyre all friends) and now shes. more chill glitter & 80s obsessed black girl with an afro. bc i wanted to have an oc with super curly hair but was like well i cant keep her white so i made her black and adjusted her character a bit so shes more. normal. i mean shes still random xd but a bit normal-er also my mother printed out a MASSIVE version of this art of her i drew in like 2019?? and its on my living room wall. anyway heres ayako also shes canonically a catgirl and always has been . cat ears and a tail . just hanging out at a mall also now her eyebrows are just a dot. and the white streak is there bc thats what she had in her hair in her first design ever. also both of these arts are olddd i need to draw my ocs more . also recently i changed up her name cuz she was ayako sulika hitomi which i dont even remember why. but now bc i woerked on her backstory and stuff and officially made her part japanese and now her name is nadia ayako kimura which i think is much prettier.

36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)?

yeah!! all the human(oid) ocs are friends/know each other but theres some more specific relationships like . mira and leo are siblings (both are trans which is bc i made mira trans and was like. wouldnt it be funny if they were both trans), mira and ayako are childhood besties. william ceres and truce are in a relationship. ayako and pixie are besties. mira and zaria are girlfriends . leo and ginger (my best friend oc) have been boyfriends more or less forever. cassie and leo jam together cuz they both play the guitar . also when it comes to non human ocs jen and ash are girlfriends<33 oh also!!!! i have a polish metal band ocs and theyre all in a band together

Hello! Your super secret santa here! Was looking through some of your tags to decide what to draw for you and wanted to ask some questions if that's okay ❤️

1.) For galaxies, do you have a ref of their full bodies and what the base might look like for Y/N? And perhaps what Y/N in the story might look like? I'm very interested in it as a subnautica fan myself haha!

2.) For eventide, are there any particular outfits you have for them that you prefer them in? And what kind of jobs they might handle? I don't know much about them but I would love to hear what info you do have to offer!

These are excellent questions! (I'm practically BUZZING with excitement already, omg)

Galaxies: Okay, so I do have a full-body one for Sun, and I'm going to post it here because at this point I don't know when the coloring book is getting released to everyone? Or if it already did? Anyway, so here's that, I've been a bit of a mess since May so I haven't even gotten around to finishing coloring this piece (it's my own coloring page, I recognize the irony). So, Fish-Sun in flats (with Sea Monkey babies):

Now, Moon didn't get finished because a lot of really awful things happened all at once at the end of May and beginning of June, I got repeatedly sick, and so I didn't get around to finishing Moon's coloring page yet. It'll be done eventually, but for now, I'll show you what I did do.

(it actually breaks my heart a little, because I had so many plans for this one, aaaahhhhhhh) So Moon's form in general is pretty similar to Sun's design (long, almost eel-like). He was supposed to have more spines that you can kinda see in the original sketch of Moon in the ref pic, and his design was going to be very inspired by a lionfish, spines down the back and at the "hips".

The end of his tail was actually inspired by an axolotl, I just really liked drawing the little fin on my original sketch (which is long gone) and was like "Yeah, don't care that it looks odd, he's an alien". I do have plans to add more sub-sections of the story later (piratespiratespiratespirates) and I'll probably have to design baby Sun and Moon eventually, but I imagine both will be similar to axolotls, since they're supposed to be related species.

Eventide: Actually yes, I did draw up a buncha outfits! I couldn't tell what was too many refs and what would be wanted, so I cut a bunch of doodles of Eventide that I've got.

So, Eventide is a child unit built by my YN with Sun and Moon's help. She starts as a small child (5-6 years old) and "grows up" (through physical upgrades and hardware updates as her AI learns and grows) with her mum, two dads, and two human sisters. Story-wise, I have the plot for her to get up to about 15-16 (not because she dies, just because I haven't planned beyond that), and she wants to do all sorts of things. Legally, she is the property of YN and not Fazzbear Entertainment, and I'm not sure how to address the whole "can she legally have a job?" thing because I also don't know how to address the whole "Robots are people too, but how do I give them rights", so mostly it's the typical teenage/child level of "I want to be a ballerina and a doctor and a scientist and also I want to do what Mom does (officially, a handler for Sun and Moon and considered an expert in certain kinds of AI and human interactions that go into having a complicated family situation (two robot partners, two human children, one robot child)) and also she wants to do what Sun and Moon do (they will eventually be "retired", this is an agreement YN has with Fazzbear after a disastrous situation at another location, and they will be released permanently into YN's care at that point, but again, that's further down the line). At this time, her "job", as YN states (eventually, when I get there in the story), is to "be a kid and find out what all that means". (As for what she will probably do, I'm leaning towards a baker/barista, a marine biologist, or an artist of some sort.)

Art Fight- Making good references

In my opinion, a solid character reference is one of the best ways to encourage people to draw your character. Seeing a promising design in the thumbnail and clicking to find a reference that is difficult to parse really demotivates you to draw a character. A simple reference in a static/casual pose without shading is a good way to make sure other artists can easily understand your character with a glance. However a good ref does not need to be a detailed ref, which is what I want to touch on a bit in this post.

For the purpose of this little guide I'll be using Bryophyta, who's reference I wanted to update anyway. This is her current reference. Despite the pose not being very stationary it's actually pretty decent at showing her anatomy, however her design has changed since and my art has improved, hence my desire to update her reference.

This is a more recent image of her. All too often I see people on AF upload characters who's only image are something like this. This is not a good character reference! The shading means its more difficult to pick her colours, in particular for artists who use the colourpicker tool to get accurate colours. If you do shade a reference (sometimes it can help) it should be kept minimal so colours are still easy to figure out. Her pose obscures a lot of her anatomy such as her feet and makes her wings more difficult to understand. Her sitting pose also makes it hard to figure out how long her legs are.

This is still valuable art to include for your character, but it shouldn't be the sole image you rely on.

A good reference does not have to be detailed or clean! This is a sketch I threw together in about 20 minutes. Even just doing something like this is super valuable for helping other artists understand your character. You may know how they look in your head, but everyone else doesn't. So it's good to make your character as understandable as possible to others.

If you want to take it further there is plenty more you can add if you feel up for it. Cleaning up the art and making it more detailed would be good. Her claws for example aren't coloured in that image, and the way her cheek fins are drawn doesn't show the colour of the spines. A little more of extra effort to those spots can pay off if you're willing (though again, isn't necessary!).

Back front and side views for humanoid/anthro characters can be great, and for characters with wings showing what the dorsal (topside) and ventral (underside) look is very useful as well. Another little detail you could add is a more up close and detailed look at a certain part, such as the eye. It's ultimately up to what makes sense for your character! Here are a few other references of varying complexity to show you what you can do.

More polished, and also shows off her teeth + tongue. Also has little bits of flavour text to help flesh out the character more.

A simple front and side view with a little bit of information. Clean and polished finish.

Front, side and back view, along with flavour text and information.

Front and back view, along with an alternate outfit, detailed views of certain body parts and even more informational text. Note that while this one has shading, it doesn't get in the way of picking out colours.

Ultimately how much effort you put into your references depends on what you're up for, and you shouldn't push yourself too far. A simple sketch like the one of Bryophyta is sometimes all that you need.

Something from March, figured after the Brigthest Star upload I should follow up with this one xd This is Astra, Wildfanqs other Sona/Mascot and very much associated with the Stars. This one is a bit of a doozy too work-wise because first off - I only used two inks for the whole piece which were "perle noire" & "diabolo menthe" by Herbin (srsly if you like working with inks I can recommend herbin inks to the moon and back they are such a joy to work with) which I think is worth pointing out. Secondly, when I drew her I had a temp ref by Fanq where the ears were missing and me not realizing something might be off drew her without ears. Now, that is a wee bit of a problem for me as a traditional artist. Or at least it seemed like it. I neither really wanted to leave the piece as is, redo it, or draw the ears on separate paper and glue them on because it's watercolour paper it's thick, it would've been distracting and very noticeable. Soooo... I figured I could try to draw in the ears in on the already finished work and if everything goes to hell I will have to redo it anyway. I thought, since the paper is thick I might be able to remove the top layers a bit to get a lighter surface and remove some of the colour and linework because anytime I line a sketch and do the first linework layer going over it with a rubber always takes off some pigment hence why I do multiple lineart steps and I figured.. Same difference right? Just with more stakes. But it worked as expected, I really carefully took off part of the piece where the ears would go with eraser friction and then had to work the raw surface with a bit of water first to get it even, after I drew in the ears and carefully applied colour for the ears - since the surface was still a bit rough I had to be mindful of bleeding, but otherwise it worked out rather well all things considered. Which means good to know that I can do stuff like that with watercolour works, but also I hope I don't have too it was nerve wrecking when I started it XDDD

He was there to actually pick up Jack, because Arcee was out on a mission with bulkhead you skipped class so you sat there sketching him, bee, and wheeljack

Couldn't get the grill right so you oh so casually went up and rubbed your hand against it

"Oh...so in....that looks right..."

"Can I help you-" "oh shit-"

It was just jack

"Sorry was taking refrence photos. Is this your truck?" "Uh...yeah..." "Can I get and interior shot?" "Maybe another day?"

Ayo Optimus not noisy but he kinda wanted to see them drawings

Turns out Arcee was out longer than expected and the next day you were there again and so was he because Jack was so nice and let you take some refrence photos of the outside you slipped a drawing through the open window with a thank you note and went about you way.

Hah. Not Knockout and breakdown thinking your an ally to the autobots and basically snatching you like they snatchin someones weave

"Ayo can I draw you-" "Bitch im litterally kidnapping you" "....okay so can I take some ref picks atleast? Please?" "...well shit you said please"

Not you having fun being kidnapped

"Damn I look good. Whats your name human?" "Y/n" "and why is such a fabulous artist with the autobots?" "The who?"

Oh. You- oh...oh shit.....

Not knockout dropping you off at your house and grtting your # ya'll buddies now

You despite being kidnapped for two days just show up again randomly and walk up to Jack.

"Yeah can I see the inside your truck no pictures no anything, just. Real quick?" "Sure?"

Oh shit your sitting in a transformer.

"Okay I know about your talking alien car that transformers into a huge robot"

Bam friends now now you go to the base everyday

Ratchet wasnt very Happy till he realized you were just extremely quiet. And YES he could work in peace

Often you sketch the autobots forms.

"Wow! Thats real detailed!" "Holy shit miko-"

You often let her go through your sketch book.

"This is a lot of-" "Shhhhh"

It was alot of Optimus: you dont know why to be honest it was like he your comfort person to draw

You've probably had every expression of his in your books, sketches of...well everything.

Mhmm those hip sketches somethin else dude

"I made my first art based Tarot card deck!"

Smokescreen realizes there based off them and is obsessed with his tarot card desgin (the sun card because come on its Smokescreen)

Optimus even compliments you on them and ask you about them you happily explain them to him

You tell him you based him in the Justice card and told him it was pretty explaintory

He told you he was honored that you seen him such a light, and there you go getting all flustered and complimenting him back

Arcee wants to know why shes the hanged man but your too busy being flustered

Now often he'll wander up behind you looking over your shoulder why you sketch away.

"What are you drawing today y/n-" "Ah! nothing! Nothing at all! Hah! Ha...."

Not more optimus hip images: they're just too fine not to draw

Despite being well Optimus he's very innocent and would simply see them as anatomy drawings

But they aint....you know that

For that reason: you refused to draw Optimus (or his hips) anymore and now your crying inside but tiding to have will power

HOT ANIME GUY POWER; drawing hot anime guys to leed your mind occupied but you just make Human Prime and your crying and screaming without the s.

Miko, knows because you forgot your bag at her house one time

"Damn man you got it bad." "I know..."

Luckily ratchet sees Vaule in your skills and ask you to draw out invention plans you say yes immediately

With Ratchet asking for help your around the base more often, sketching out plans for him

Which means you and Optimus talk alot more

He finds your conversations relaxing

You often fall asleep at the small table, after finishing plans and starting on your own work, usually homework

So that means he sees your litrle fifth grade crush drawings, you know with lopsided hearts and all luckily you know better to draw Human like alien robots in your notebook so he only sees the O + F/i surronded in hearts

He doesnt know why but now he's gotta talk to you more: its a now or never situation.

"Y/n-" "It wasnt me!-" "would you like to go home to rest?" "Um. Yeah that sounds great"

Optimus now drives you home everyday, and picks you up from school instead of you just riding with Bee and Raff

Litterally a dream come true on your part and on his part

Is it akward silence? Or do you both just think its awkward silence making it more awkward

Asking Ratchet to describe how the iacon archives use to look and sketching it out and giving it to Optimus

"Im not sure I got the file cases right. I had Ratchet describe the your world to me as best I could.

It was perfect to him, and he thanked you for it, it never leaves his glove box

Usually because your an artist your dressed in clothes that have paint stains, perhaps the back of your shirt is hand painted or your old converse.

Yet you had a presentantion you had to get dressed up for, for school, in a knitted pencil like skirt and a knitted sweater with some boots

He couldnt pick you up or drive you to school that day so Wheeljack went with you instead and Smokescreen picked you up

Not wheeljack bragging trying to get Optimus to confess that you look rather hot that day.

Turns out when Optimus returned to base he'd be blown away by your change in outfit.

"How'd it go!"

"All the energon secured. There was no doubt after all!" Wheeljack laughed, "Right Optimus."

You looked at him with such a big smile and eyes he only nodded with a smile

Wheeljack drove you home: saying the boss was tired and just like he had hoped you left your bag in his back seat

Now Miko and Wheeljack both have the power to tease you

Not Optimus seeing where you work and creating a holo form to go and see you

"Hm? Y/n?" The employee asked, "Yeah shes in right now there doing a study. Come on I'll take you there."

When he said study he thought idk maybe like with a book. Not figure studies, you know the ones where your naked

So he was not expecting to walk in with people surrounding you as you sat laid on a couch with a thin sheet covering your lower hips down, top bare and a hand propping your head up.

Poor baby had to stand there for twenty mintues attempting not to stare at you

But time was called and you got up going to dress again.

"Ayo n/n." "Hm?" "This guys here for you."

You only smiled hoping it was an art scout as you apologized for your current state and fixed yourself.

"Hello Im Y/n!" "I...I know..."

Voice sounded oddly familiar

"Do...I know you from....Wait a mintue!"

Pretty easy to figure it out, "stay there!"

He only listened as you rushed to your bag, flipping through the pages of one of your sketch books and lifted it up besides him.

"Its...Op-"

"I believe Orion- would be a better choice sounds more human."

Your weezing; hes evern prettier as a human

"I had no idea...you could..." "its older technology but works well." "Ah... I see..."

Thank god for being 18...primus hes just so pretty

"Um...I have to go pick up my work bag...do you wanna come along?"

Not you guys having a moment in the locker room where you told each other your feelings.

Making out in the locker room super softly? Absolutely.

Making out in his Alt form? Even a bigger yes, especially if hes dropping you off at your house

But its best to keep it a secret

Miko and Wheeljack notices that the teasing doesnt get to Y/n anymore and Miko realizes you stopped drawing Optimus and some human guy now. What a bummer

They realize Optimus does seem to have a much brighter glow to him, and he always lightly smells like something fimilar.

*cough* your perfume *cough*

As we build up towards the release of HS3, I wanted to set out what has gone before and what Harry has already said - basically so when the inevitable happens we can try it make sense of what they are trying to sell us!

Harry Styles (May 2017)

Recorded in chunks LA and Jamaica 2016. Before and after Dunkirk.

Narratives - ha*lor, Kendall, Townes all as part of RS interview and Apple documentary. He talked about Townes for apple and the today show and in a crazy turn of events, was able to use the lyric for the song about her finding out he wrote the song! Amazing!The Kendall one they even brought back just as he went to Jamaica to record (literally two days before) Harry went on to say it wasn’t about a women but about himself. There was a book about pride and Harry wearing a dress in the album artwork. Also note, for SOTT promo which included RS, he posted the milkshake tweet not long after the article was released.

Plus papped with the chef the week of album release (lol) complete with shared Gucci shirt and photo from the kitchen of Erskine House. She posted on the day of his london show herself outside his house in a very distinctive jacket … which she then wore to the show. This was quickly walked back “he only met her a couple of times” and in came CR. In time for Dunkirk promo and then tour - lasting exactly one year.

Fine Line (Dec 2019)

Recorded during tour (according to post it’s) WS, Cherry, FL; in Malibu (Sept 2018) golden, falling and in Bath (Spring 2019) TPWK, Adore You, LU. How he wrote a break up song on tour… well 😝 also just to note CR had a documentary with her in it called cherry and she posted a pic of herself in the “canyon” and wearing cherry earrings - handy.

Lead single LU released on International Coming out day (Oct 2019) discussing themes of acceptance and the MV including both men and women.

Then Another RS interview, this time with Kid Harpoon dishing up the gf stories sold as about having sex and feeling sad - a heartbreak album with clear ref to CR and Harry referring to his “ex gf” for the apple interview (rare for him to use this wording) just to hammer it home, a voice note of her voice included and a pineapple on the artwork (she has a pineapple on her IG profile and a pineapple ass tattoo) on the CD the liner notes say it was included “with her permission”. This is omitted on the vinyl. In an interview she denied knowing. He was seen with her in the May showing her something on his phone. And after a year of it being missing, her ring and cardigan reappeared in time for promo … which is lucky as there is a line in a song about wearing her clothes. 🤪 Promo also included interviews where he talked about his sexuality and gender and dress pics/beauty papers and the SNL Sara Lee sketch. Liner notes included a pride flag in the studio and Harry wearing a shirt about blowjobs.

So. HS3 rumour has it will be Friday 12th Feb. Expect a single in January. With the cancelled Miami show and the Italy stunt it looks like they are carrying on keeping his name in the headlines before the launch- text book winter gf stuff - complete with insiders talking to People and US weekly.

Harry has said he was working during lockdown 1. He was seen at the same FL studio in Bath Aug 2020.

Kid Harpoon said early 2021 that not much had been written. The Sun, in autumn 2021, had articles about it being released “imminently” which was then denied - suggesting it wasn’t yet finished.

Harry arrived in LA mid July after MP filming and the Italy trip and was seen in a studio and with Tyler Johnson (place your bets that he is in the RS interview this time) before then doing the pleasing shoot and tour rehearsals (leaving not loads of time to record an album?)

In Dazed, interview done sept and at the Boston show, Harry said he’d assumed he wouldn’t do any writing while filming and yet he found that exploring the characters on screen helped him to see life through the “lens” of other people and he wrote loads. (Can we expect to see songs written through the lens of Tom - a closeted man who has to hide his love and pretend to love a woman??????) Dazed also continued the conversation about identity, the binary existence and saw him continue to wear what he wants. We also have My Policeman (which is obviously still in post production but will be released in 2022) promo on the horizon.

So what can we expect? I can’t see how there won’t be a narrative around the director. But in Dazed Harry shut down all talk of it (keeping his private life separate to work lol) and she was only allowed to allude to it - with all the subtlety of a baby elephant admittedly- but the reps wouldn’t confirm. Will it be, once again, something for all groups of fans? He’s never actually been in a proper “relationship” during promo. I find it hard to believe, given how it’s gone before, he’d want to talk on camera about it. They must know the fan reaction is VERY mixed. But there will be some hints - Italy? Friends to lovers themed? Settled? Some ref already hinted at? (My money is on board games or something that was on that Bode bag… something totally ham fisted that gives the game away)

Edit to add - Rob Sheffield was at the NYC shows - wouldn’t be surprised if he did an interview then.

It’s also very likely he recorded a Beats interview with Zane Lowe in November in LA (when his mum was around)

Hey Ginger, can you please give me some advice? I want to commission a character ref sheet for a live2d model I wanna set up...but I have no ideas. And I'm scared to go somewhere and have them say "Well...you gotta give us SOMETHNG!" I'm just not sure how to get thoughts moving (anx-dep combo doesn't help)

Hey there! Totally get the confusion! If I’m hearing you right you want a commissioned ref sheet to give to someone else who will build the live2d model, and you need to make sure the character is as clear as possible. Which can be really hard when you feel creatively dry!

First things first in character creation is to decide what you want as a character motif. I assume you’re not just going to make it look like you because if that we’re the case you could just send some reference images of yourself.

From what I’ve seen from friends and online personalities that most common motifs are either animals or magical creatures humanized. If you have a favorite animal or an animal you think would look cute humanized (typically as a cute girl though I don’t think that really matters). For magic creatures I lot of people use demons because horns are cool, but you could also do anything from fairies to elves!

If you’ve got a general idea for a motif but you just don’t know how to fully realize it, many artists will work with you! I know personally if I’m working on a bigger project like a full character ref (I’d probably charge 80-100 depending on how many expression heads a client wanted) I’d be willing to do concept sketched either free or at a really reduced rate, and I’m sure I’m not the only one! Talk with your artist and tell them your concerns, shop around a bit! Most artists are quite friendly and many will work with you to fully realize your vision even if it means a little more work-our name is attached to this after all!

Most importantly be honest with your artist, if you’ve got an idea but are unsure of it, or don’t like how a part of the reference turns out or almost like one but it’s just not quite there tell them! We work with people all the time we can handle a little criticism!

I will allow one MILF and one MILF ONLY

I FINALLY got around to making another ref for my OCs! This time is a little different: instead of a main OC I'm working on "secondary" ones. So here's Mikayla's maam Norah, a supporting ally in my Loonatics AU/Reboot!

Age: Secret!

Species: Human

Homeworld: Earth

Alignment: Good

Occupation: Secretary

Role: Ally of the Loonatics, ambassador

Voice Claim: Nia Long

Physical: Norah is an adult African American with long curly hair, brown skin, and a hourglass body-type. Her common outfit consists of indigo suit and matching heels with a white collar, cuffs, and deep-magenta bow. She tends to wear golden eyeshadow and deep-cinnamon lipstick.

Personality: Norah is a kind and intelligent woman with a love for marine life. She holds herself with dignity and grace, though she can be exasperated by the people around her. She can be snarky, demanding and bossy at her worse, and sometimes can come off too strict and sardonic. A part of her is afraid of speaking out against the corruption in ACME in fear of losing her job; though she learns through the Loonatics to stick up for herself at work. Norah deeply cares for her daughter refusing to repeat the troubled relationship she had with her own parents. While compassionate and giving, Norah hates users and refuses to let others take advantage of her. She still carries some feelings for Optimatus but has no desire to rekindle their romance.

Backstory: Growing up in the slums, Norah had a turbulent relationship with her parents which ended when she ran away from home at 16. Moving in with an aunt she worked hard at her new school, quickly becoming Valedictorian and earning a scholarship to Acme University. Her childhood love of the ocean prompter her to pursue a career in marine biology. During a trip of the beach she found the unconscious form of a purple haired man....She took him in and helped him recover, eventually developing a fling that ended when the man left in the middle of the night while she slept. She was unaware that her summer love was none other than the missing Prince of Freleng, Optimatus.

Years later Norah still remembers the man she once called a friend...lover... As she had Mikayla while still in college she had to drop out to care for her, working odd jobs to support herself. While she loved Mikayla, she loathed and was confused as to why her ex left without so much as a goodbye. She eventually got a coveted job working as a secretary for the city department for ACME Labs. At first Norah was grateful to have such a high paying job - she would have the money to finish school and start her sea-life rehab venture. However upon seeing the corruption within the company she started having doubts but held back from complaining. Not yet.

S1: In the finale, Optimatus, who by now was consumed with dark power - discovered his sister Zadavia hiding among earthlings. He did not particular wish to destroy the planet he once called home, but he needed to get rid of the obstacle. He sent his robotic soldiers to the city. Norah was caught in the attacks, and upon witnessing the woman Optimatus ordered his soldiers to spare her and to bring her back to their temporary base. At the base Norah demanded to know why they've taken her when a heavily disfigured man came in. He wants to talk. Norah demands why he kidnapped her an attacking innocent people. Optimatus replies that she had no problem with him before. That was when she connected the dots; the same long purple hair, facial features, and eyes - it was him! But now he was no longer fully human. He heartbreak swelling up in her, she asks what happened to him. Optimatus revealed that he was the ruler of Freleng who had left the planet (likely to explore the galaxy without strict protocol). He was ambushed by enemy Martians and had to make an emergency landing on Earth. He wanted to tell her the truth but couldn't out of fear that his enemies might track him down and hurt her. He claimed his injury happened after a civil war on his Homeworld his sister having refused his plan to wipe out the evil Martians. Unable to believe him Norah replies that she won't help him destroy anyone regardless of their past. Angered at her bold choice Optimatus left her alone and locked up in the master lobby.

Luckily Rev managed to locate her and Danger Duck teleported into the lobby to help her escape. Before they could leave however Optimatus arrived and ordered them to stop. But then the rest of the team as well as Mikayla and Zadavia bursts in resulting in a major battle. Norah was able to escape with Mikayla, and witnessed her former lover getting defeated at the hands of the heroes.

S2 and Beyond: Norah would play a more active role: now she was the one having to familiarize with a new planet! As she is the mother of the crown princess this technically made her a member of the Court, though she declined as she had no desire to get involved in politics. However she did suggest a program to help rehabilitate former villains and criminals which later took affect. After Optimatus renounced his ways he apologized to her for leaving and kidnapping her, and vow to set things right even if it meant the past can never be rekindled again.

Powers: Norah does not possess any powers. She is knowledgeable in her field of work, able to identify multiple marine species, and chemistry. Perhaps her greatest "power" is her compassion, able to empathize with characters such as Pinkster and Weathervane. K

When I’m drawing the ponytail I try to do the bump sort of thing, then the spikes and then finishing it, but the shape never looks right to me even if I’ve used a ref

These are the only examples I have on me but I’ve drawn her a lot in my sketchbook as well

Okay this is a quick sketch so it’s not my best but I’ll try and walk through my process

Normally when I get to the ponytail I will have already done the body and face and all. Same goes for her long hair - it usually isn’t until I’ve gotten at least the position of her body.

My assumption is (based off your drawings) that you usally for the bump do like a circle?

So sorta like this (I did like semi circles and then the spikes)

Thats not inherently bad and I don’t think it looks as bad as you think it does. I think it looks alright tbh. But again, not a bad thing to do, and it works.

For me with ponytails or hair bits that spike up at the end I usually do the first line (in blue) in one fell swoop

Its a super quick hand motion that I've sorta gotten used to doing for different things. It's like an unconscious motion I guess haha, like say certain reactions when playing video games on a controller. There's motions you don't think about or realise your doing with your hands, your not thinking about that, your just thinking about doing the action in the game. But doing it quick is essential or you’ll think too much/wobbly hand will come into play and it’ll look deliberate, won’t look as wavey etc. (Or at least it does for me jhasdhjsda) The spikes are one line too since its like second nature to me to do those sorts of bits with hair but thats like unconscious thing jhasdhjasd

And that's not to say it's easy to get it right when doing it quick, it took me a few times to get it to look right even for this. Ctrl z is your friend haha. Redoing a line multiple times to get it right is fine and it happens and goodness it's basically every line I do xD.

An easier way to do this kinda motion would be to use whatever equvilant you have of the Dynamic tool in krita (the program I use). Cuz of the adjustable mass it means you can go slower without getting as wobbly lines or you can make them smoother and more deliberate without making it look unnatural/non curvy. I usually use it for help with lineart jahsdhsd

And thats not to say my method is the most accurate either!

I mostly do mine from memory (since I keep only drawing ponytail Hilda when I can’t get a reference) but her ponytail is sorta more of a curve (which I dodn’t even illustrate the best but yknow). The bottom spikey covers most of the bottom of the ponytail, the top spikey extends as far out as the as the bump. And theres like a centre point too on the left side. So you could do that in two lines or two swoops to get more of an extruding bit but still have it seem circular and like one line. A lot comes from examining how the show does it and like figuring out ‘how could I do this consistently?’ which sometimes includes quite literally going over the lines and figuring out what works best for you to imitate that.

And it doesn’t always have to be show accurate! You could be mostly show accurate with a bit of your own flair (like what I’m tryna do) or you could straight up do it how YOU want the ponytail to look or how you like to draw ponytails! Anything works honestly. And my personal advice is to experiment and figure out what method works best for you/is easiest for you to do or replicate

So ye this is mostly how I do the ponytail (i think. Turns out having to think about what your drawing and how you draw it makes it harder to know how you draw normally. Like when you consciously think about say holding a knife and fork. Suddenly you don’t remember how to anymore...)

I hope this helps at least a little and is understandable, sorry I rambled a lot, but yeee ^^’‘

HAPPY MERMAY EVERYONE! (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ❤ HERE HAVE SIRENIA AT LAST

Ahhhhhhhhh finally she is done I almost didn’t make it in time gnjkengknej but I got through and I am so happy with myself xD it’s taken me about 2 years to finally finish her ref and it feels so good to finally have done so gekngnje! I actually tried to finish her last May, as I really wanted to finish her in May because mermay, but I failed, which might have been a good thing bc gods look at her gngke

Anyway, here she is finally, Seaswap Undyne aka Sirenia! But before I go into backstory and some personality details, I just want to explain a bit how monsters works in Seaswap, which I have explained before in another post which I can’t link to bc u know how this site works, so gonna explain a bit about it here and everything else, but will put it under a cut because this is very long like always xD

Also I am very, very happy with how she turned out, I m so proud even though I got a bit sloppy at the end. But she turned out fine and it just feels so good to finally be done with her yes UwU ❤ fun fact, she originally had some tattas but I removed them as I redrew her ref, as she’s a fish so no tattas not this time pft

Warning btw for some mentions of abuse and so on down below.

So, monsters in Seaswap are extremely strongly connected to the ocean, they can never leave it completely without literally getting sick and die. They need to dip themselves in it once every other week or so, or else risk getting sick, like not even their whole body just a part of themselves is needed.

Monsters who spend most of their time in their natural habitat in the sea will be covered in sea fauna, like barnacles, anemones etc, and look extremely monstrous like straight out of a horror movie.

But, the less time they spend under the ocean the less horror looking they will become, the barnacles etc will fall off, teeth will shrink and even their size will become smaller and so on, which they then can regain and regrow when they begin to spend time back in the ocean.

So, with that out of the way, here’s some personality and background with Sirenia, not going into super details bc spoilers btw:

She is the adoptive daughter of Seaswap Gerson aka Skal, who took her in when her moms died back in the war between humans and monsters.

When Boney, Pass and Charon meet her so have she been held captive by human pirates for about a year, where she has been greatly neglected when it comes to her need of seawater. Which was also a way to keep her subdued as otherwise she would had kicked their asses.

They of course save her.

Thanks to her imprisonment and mistreatment, so have she become very insecure especially when it comes to her appearance. Since she got told repeatedly by her captors how absolutely disgusting she was, and just the general abuse she went through by their hands.

She later grows more confident and strong-willed again as she gets better, she also gets very, very strong once more when she does. She is also a very smart woman, who is an excellent tactician.

And that’s all ya get for now, I got to admit I haven’t fully figured her out personality wise, hence it been a bit scarce up above, but I will get to it eventually yeah, enjoy for now ye xD

Oh also here, the original sketches I made like two years ago, they really old and I used them as a base for the most part for the final ref yes UwU ❤

Assignment 1: A landscape

I approached this assignment with a slightly different way, considering printing technique and style before working through the subject. As I have not done it before I wanted to attempt creating a jigsaw linocut print. Working with water based inks in Printmaking One meant that I had to work very quickly as the ink would begin to dry and change consistency. Having invested in some oil based ink giving me a longer working time, I wanted to utilise the medium use a technique that requires a slower inking time. Using a jigsaw method would allow me to use different colours within one layer of printing.

I have seen this technique executed beautifully in the work of Lili Arnold, a printmaker in California whom I have followed on Instagram for a few years. By sharing not only her finished work but the printing process itself, we are able to gain greater insight into her methodology.

When I’m not entirely sure of the direction I want to take within my work I like to step back and look at artists and images that inspire me. I review what works well, what aspects I enjoy and consider how I can apply these concepts to my own work.

Mary Blair

One of my favourite artists is Mary Blair best known for her role as a Disney concept artist for both animated films and the ‘Small World’ in Disneyland.

Blair had an exceptional understanding of colour and form. Particularly within the ‘Small World’ concept art where different shapes and patterns are used together to create a more abstract image, reminiscent of children’s building blocks. Animation art director Fred Cline described her work as;

‘...juxtaposition of neutralised and intense colours. Lots of artists make everything really bright or really mute. She mixed both with a graphic sense without hardness. Her shapes are very organic but graphic. It's different. You know when you're looking at something only Mary Blair did.’ (Cline, 1994).

Charles and Ray Eames

Using the work of Mary Blair as a springboard I looked at the work other mid-century artists and designers. The form of Blair’s ‘Small World’ concept art reminded me of the toy designs of Charles and Ray Eames.

Both the house of cards style toy, ‘The Toy’ and ‘The Little Toy’ focused on creativity within play. The individual elements can be arranged in any combination by the person playing with the toy. I wondered if this could be interpreted within a jigsaw linocut.

Rather than the elements within the composition being fixed could they be arranged in different ways in a more spontaneous way within the printing process?

Frances Wood

I also looked at the work of contemporary printmaker Frances Wood. Inspired by mid-century design and Scandinavian folk art, Wood creates colourful screen prints using paper-cut shapes when developing her screens.

I enjoyed Wood’s layering of colour within her prints, having a muted background design with a bold pattern in the foreground. Much like the work of the mid-century artists that I have been looking at, despite using organic subjects of flowers and birds, they layout and composition of Wood’s prints are graphic and geometric in style.

Subject

This last year I have spent more time at home than ever before. The local community of our street has become much closer, supporting each other and sharing food. Holding socially distanced street parties and looking after the more vulnerable residents. We even had a surprise stray kitten birth under my neighbours dining room table. It felt fitting to mark this.

My print design criteria

Execute a set of three colour prints, each using a minimum of three colours. Each print must be different but connected in some way.

Use a jigsaw technique using repeated key shapes so that the composition is easily changeable.

Explore alternative colour palettes based on the work of Mary Blair, mixing brights and neutrals.

Use symmetrical graphic designs to represent features and patterns within my neighbourhood.

Use colour to indicate the time of year.

Working process

I began by walking up and down my street (after pre warning my neighbours!) taking photos of patterns and shapes that occur within the houses.

Rather than sketching I decided to use paper-cut shapes to reduce the photographed elements into simplified forms. By using this technique I have to be more considered in my approach as I am unable to cut details as fine as I would be able to draw. This hands on approach also felt in keeping of the spirit behind the design.

I then scanned the glued paper to work on rough designs and colour combinations within photoshop. Looking to Mary Blair’s work for possible colour palettes, I identified different schemes that would be indicative of different seasons.

Final Selection

The prints turned out as I had planned them and I am particularly pleased with the colour combinations inspired by Mary Blair. The process of rearranging the tiles was enjoyable and I like that each print is unique. I am slightly concerned that it may not be in keeping with the assignment brief as it did not say that an abstract representation of a landscape was an option but it felt right to me.
