random lore + some extra tidbits below the cut

OKAY this is all pretty loose bc i don't wanna get top restrictive with it, the vagueness is half the fun. but here's what i got:

in the “HIVE canon”, sector heads/ranking officers (which for now is just leander and COL ig until i eventually cave and make more lmao) are specifically given custom uniforms and number prefixes instead of the CR[insert number here] format.

the “M” in front of leander’s stands for medbay. COL didn’t pick one so it’s just his name lol.

crewmates can wear any accessories they want as long as the base uniform stays the same (bee arm patches, grey, etc). all crewmate numbers gotta start with CR to be canon, but that doesn't apply to shitpost comics or like. general vibes

(there’s a reason the crew uniforms are grey. it’s the same reason leander made the captain’s gloves. )

the ship shuffles itself! it's not random all of the time, sometimes you open a door and end up in the room you were heading to like a shortcut, but other times you can open a random door and end up in the kitchen, or the training hall, etc etc. i just think an eldritch abomination ship is funny.

weirdly enough though it doesn’t do this in crisis situations. guess it’s only fun if the pranks are harmless ;;

if you get lost, call the captain (ello! o7) or COLONY over comms. they can generally get you wherever you need to go bc COLONY is directly connected to the ship and the captain’s able to make [INQUIRIES], which let us pass freely.

it’s kind of hard to tell if leander has a similar ability. the running theory is no, but he never seems confused?? when he enters a room?? so either he has one or he really just rolls with the punches. both are equally possible tbh.

in actual lore these two were probably some of if not the first few people to be recruited. obvs that’s a retcon now but shhh.

random characters from fandoms still get dragged into our shenanigans. at the end of the day this is all just for fun, and that’s one of the best parts, so hell yeah i’m keeping it.

Realising I have grown up with otherkinity in my life..

This isn't meant to really mean anything, it's just a cool observation of mine.

I found out about it in grade 9, through a friend. She'd sent me a tumblr blog of otherkin recipes, saying something like "otherkin are kinda weird, but their recipes are amazing"

This led to me looking through the blog, discovering a whole Thing that would otherwise be unknown to me. It started off as just a "phase" iykwim? It felt fun and interesting, and I really connected with it but I wasn't sure why. I made *some* things up, as "edgy" teens are wont to do, but slowly discovered a part of me I didn't have a name for previously.

As of writing this and saving it to my drafts, I am in grade 12, age 17, and will be done with school this year. I know myself so much better now because of otherkinity etc etc (Side note: I graduated school! And am in a full-time job! go me! (and I'll be 18 this year <3))

I'm just so sad about the blog - I have no clue what it was called! I tried searching for it so many times previously and found other amazing recipe blogs, but I'm not entirely sure what that specific blog was.

As far as I remember, it had a pink/light red mushroom/foraging theme.

#solrock #now *this* is the fucker that the one raid battle NPC had in swsh that everyone hated. including me. he served only to remove lives #fuckin mashing the rock polish button the whole time or whatever it was. doing Nothing Else. i feel like a lot of people who usually did #raids offline had that fucker's name and face memorized. cuz they'd see that they got him and just give up right then and there #at a certain point i feel like offline raids were just not very viable. the NPCs they'd give you to battle with were just so bad #and some of the higher star raids you really needed the extra firepower you just couldn't get from those NPCs #but also they kinda removed a lot of the incentive for joining other people's raids considering your catch chance was lowered by like 9000% #if you weren't the host of the raid. and if you were the host the percentage chance was so high it was basically guaranteed #i don't think i ever ONCE caught a pokémon successfully when i'd joined someone else's raid. and i don't think i ever once failed to catch a #pokémon when i was the host of the raid. it's just. i dunno! i stopped doing raids at a certain point. some people can get a pokémon game #and play it long long after the main story bc they get invested in raids and shit but i just lose interest at a certain point unfortunately #as much as i enjoy the game while i'm initially playing through it #hff. anyway. i'm queueing this up the morning of june 30th‚ aka the day of my first flight in 10 years. so. this won't post until mid july #and i'll have been back for a while by then but for right now‚ me writing these tags‚ i am very Anxious #saur. haha. y'know how it is. have solrock

just finished mashle (the manga) and like every other shounen out there, it has its faults.

there are 2 (two) women characters in the whole manga. lemon, while funny, is boy obsessed and has really no personality trait other than being in love with mash. meliadoul, while being around whalberg's age, still looks like she's 20 for some reason? also she was stated to be even more powerful than whalberg but she barely put up a fight against innocent zero.

familial issues are solved a little too quickly? rayne treats his brother like shit for years but one fight changes that? he literally treats mash better than his own brother??? "i'll make sure that brazen kid goes as far as he can go".... bro you just told your own brother that he was useless. whatever it's a shounen

mash forgives too many people. i love compassion in characters but idk if forgiving innocent zero is the way to go

i don't think the author knew what to do with finn. healing magic is cool and all, especially when most authors tend to give that kind of magic to women, but finn, to me, felt like he got sidelined the most. that last minute secondth that finn casted would've been much cooler to me if we got to see some more magic from him. i didn't even know he had swap magic until the training arc!

orter and wirth never fuckin interact??? like i don't even think they bring each other up in their respective backstories??? the wiki says they're estranged so ig that tracks???

domina still killed people. like multiple people. at the end he gets to go back to his classmates and whatever but he still murdered multiple people. pretty privilege is real i guess

the rewind at the end felt a little cheap to me. yeah i'm happy that we don't have to leave anybody behind but i feel like it cheapens their sacrifices. orter staying behind means nothing anymore.

i lied, there are like 5 women in the series but lauren, sophina and tsurara are so insignificant that they don't even count

anyway, all this aside, the manga was genuinely funny and for every moment i didn't like, there were at least two more that i really did enjoy. i think if you want a good time pass, mashle would be best for you!

I would just like to note that without Klinger, we don't get that show-and-character-defining moment in s03e05 OR where the Ethiopian patient thanks Hawkeye with a kiss. Klinger had to somehow figure out that he wanted to see Hawkeye, knows that Hawkeye would appreciate the gesture and then Klinger makes time for it in spite of how busy they are in OR and guesses that the patient is trying to thank Hawkeye.

This early on in the show Klinger is mostly relied upon for comic relief, but his prioritizing kindness and human connection the same way Hawkeye does would later become a foundational character trait. So intentionally or not, that tracks.
