I know I've talked about this somewhat, but I still cannot stess it enough that as an artist you should never feel ashamed or that your work is not as good for "cutting corners".

Make a million brushes and use them instead of drawing everything by hand. Use as many references as your little heart desires. Make patterns and use them again and again to avoid rendering stuff. Copy other artists (for studies and learning of course). Use pre-made palettes. Don't learn some lengthy fancy way of shading if you don’t feel like it.

Honestly at the end of the day just take the tools you have at your disposal and make them work for you however you want.

#asks #anon #art stuff #smash-chu talks #text #legit my favorite brush to use #i've been using it for years now and it never ever grows dull #also it has a weird name like a few of the other ones cause i'm too lazy to change it - originally it was a copy of the crayon brush #but made thicker so that i had a less crayon-y crayon brush #hence the name - even if i did change it to be less dense too #also why 'grass?' is named the way it is because it started as a brush for painting grass #but it's just a good blending and painting brush in general #but i don't have the effort to change the names cause they don't really matter when i've memorized their locations #so the dumb names will stay forever
