2) I kept seeing Lin/Swire with (see top) dynamic and i was like goddamn you guys did it to hoshichen and now them too COME ON.. JUST BECAUSE SWIRE APOLOGISED ONCE EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS BACK TO BEING QUEEN BITCH RIGHT AFTER uhh anyway. there was this weibo post I saw when Lin was announced that like awoke something in me it was kind of like a drabble or something...? basically something like 'lungmen quad is so nice because you have 2 police(chen & swire) and 2 underworld people(lin & hoshi <ex tho) so the dynamics is like wowww!! honestly it was kinda hard to read lol but it was basically like canon compliant imagining about after swires kidnapping when they were kids, they fractured fr fr because chen was like im going to 1000% train while lin feels awkward since swire got kidnapped by underworld guys or sth and her family and therefore she herself is part of the problem and it ended with the both of them butting heads while thinking "why wasnt it me that saved her back then?" (cause it was hoshi right lol) and i just went like MANNNNN. it's like the core of my wuxia/gufeng AU that's collecting dust in my folder sorry if that made no sense

3) hoshichen but see below first and then come back; JP fan interpretations just hit different man the biggest reason why i still eat this ship sometimes

When I started shipping them: we'll just address this whole thing thru a more platonic lens even tho i can also ship them romantically lol. i loved kaoru from her entrance and wanted more and more scenes with her so when yuka befriended her i was really happy. my favorite scene with them is when kaoru graduates <3

My thoughts: kaoru was such an important friend to yuka, who always supported her and wanted to help her. yuka also loved kaoru so much that she left her. and neither of them ever stopped thinking about each other: kaoru thought abt yuka so much that she named her son after a fruit to match yuka's daughter <3

What makes me happy about them: their kids have matching names <3 they found each other again <3 they never forgot about each other <3

What makes me sad about them: yuka cutting her hair after finding out about kaoru's death ;-;

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: lol i have RARELY seen fics where kaoru exists at all let alone where she interacts with yuka. i have nothing to base an answer off of. mostly i just dislike when ppl characterize yuka as negligent or abusive to mikan in fics. i guess i see where earlier fics are coming from, when they were written before yuka's backstory but still. it makes me sad. that has nothing to do with kaoru though

My happily ever after for them: theyre both happy and hanging out in heaven. if they had both lived, id have loved to see them hanging out and embarrassing their kids <3

Yuka & Luna

When I started shipping them: i always tear up when yuka says "nobody has ever asked me to be their friend before" like they were so cute as kids

My thoughts: i genuinely think their friendship is so realistic. middle school absolutely IS the time when that sort of fall out would occur. and luna's insecurities about yuka not really liking her back make a lot of sense and are sadly relatable. they were each other's first real friend and as a result they were immature about their feelings. the esp manipulated luna and encouraged jealousy in her until she hated her with her whole being. he twisted the facts abt yuka's last night and im not okay with luna's actions at all bc (as ive said before) i hate child abusers. that being said, i start to ugly cry when yuka gets caught in the explosion and luna stops using her alice on the fuukitai so they can help her. no i dont approve of u luna but damn ur good at making me cry

What makes me happy about them: i find it so funny how clingy luna was bc she didnt know how to behave with a friend

What makes me sad about them: i am so sad abt luna cutting yuka out bc she didn't know how to behave with a friend

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: not rly anything for them specifically. luna is such a plot device character in most fanfic so im not rly invested in making sure shes not ooc or anything. ive talked abt luna being used to make mikan jealous (and how shes just stretched and bended to fill a specific role) in all sorts of aus and i genuinely have no problem with it like who else are u gonna use? i get it. ive done it too. ive read it and found it enjoyable. go luna as a plot device! u stole the show in the sports festival <3 but again that has nothing to do with yuka and luna as a pairing lol

Things I look for in fanfic: if an au fic EVER had luna and yuka the same age id be genuinely so shocked.

My wishlist: idk if i could ever expect them to be friends again the way they were before, but it would be nice to see them make amends. though im sure luna's more recent actions, like at the sports fest, might further complicate things

more renga headcanons bc i miss them

- rekis not one to like. hide his praise or anything he compliments langa a lot but just. every so often he'll grab langas wrist and look at him all soft and say "youre amazing langa" very reminiscent of how langa praises him and it just makes langa feel so fucking mushy and in love

- rekis used to affection from his family but thats kinda it and langas family was never super affectionate but he felt loved still but after his dad died he just felt super lonely but when they meet and start getting super close they both just feel like theyre overflowing with love both given and received and i just thinks that beautiful

- rekis chronically bad at opening bottles bc they hurt his hands and hes always embarrassed but he goes up to langa and is like. open please. and langa does KKFMSMFND

- it gets to the point he'll just go up to him with a bottle and langa will open it without being prompted

- yknow when youre really tired and you feel like youre floating in the ocean reki has that but he feels like hes rolling back and forth on his skateboard

- since he first started skating the movement and feeling got so ingrained in him that he'll be sitting at his desk or laying in bed and just feels the sensation of tick tacking like hes not moving he just can feel it like a ghost in his muscles and brain

- sometimes reki just wants to. stand on his board like not do anything just stand on it so he stores skateboards in his room and when he gets restless he'll just stand on one for a little bit

- reki talks to himself a lot he'll be doing some mindless task and then have a pretend conversation with nobody without even realizing it

- whenever reki cries or gets choked up about smth drinking water for some reason makes him feel better

- reki pokes the twins' bellies and blows raspberries on them to make them laugh :)

- langa cant pick up rice with chopsticks when he first moves to okinawa and reki makes fun of him but still teaches him how to do it

- langa has acne along his jawline its just bumpy and stuff

- reki wakes up and then lays in bed watching videos as long as he can before he gets up 

- he also holds his phone like two inches away from his face

- reki uses dark mode langa uses light mode until reki notices it forcibly changes it

- rekis phone is always at like really low brightness bc his eyes are sensitive

- its battery is also always low bc its an old phone and it takes forever to charge

- he takes a lot of pictures and videos of langa just for no reason half of them are blurry and out of focus and langas not paying attention but he keeps all of them

- he has a bookmark on instagram called 'langa' and its full of stuff that reminds reki of him or he wants to show him later

- langa and reki pair up for a presentation once and when theyre presenting they cannot stop laughing reki says um and pauses for a moment too long and langa does one of those long nose exhale laughs and it makes reki snort and then they keep messing up and barely get through it and when they walk back to their desks they shove each other while the class laughs

- langa has a really cheap purple phone case he got at walmart and rekis like dude thats so boring so he makes stickers for him to stick to it

- langa loves them but he also has this weird anxiety about putting stickers places bc he likes them and doesnt want to eventually get rid of whatever the sticker is on but reki tells him he'll make him more whenever he gets another phone so hes okay with it

- langa doesnt really fidget unless hes nervous and then he twists his fingers around but when hes sitting he rolls his right ankle a lot and his foots like always twitching really minutely 

- reki carries around a hairband partly for his sisters (and eventually langa) and partly so he can fidget with it

- langa carries one around too for the same reason but one day reki forgets it during work so langa gives it to him bc he looks restless 

- and langa kinda feels really bare and doesnt know what to do without it so he just rubs his wrist a lot but he doesnt mind 

- reki will get up to go do smth but just sit down curled in a ball on the floor bc he gets distracted for whatever reason and after like 20 minutes of scrolling through his phone hes like wait what was i doing

- reki has a scar on his lip/chin bc he bailed really hard and hit his chin on the concrete and bit through his lip 

- langas a dry ass texter when he and reki first meet bc he didnt really have anyone to text before

- but eventually he googles how to turn auto caps and everything changes

- hes actually funnier over text sometimes bc hes less restrained 

- hes made a ur mom joke and then was like wait i take it back i love your mom im sorry :c 

- and he points out every time reki misspells a word just to annoy him

- when reki laughs he wraps his arms around his stomach and hes the type to go silent when he laughs hard enough

- he'll go from standing normally to bent over to crouched down to falling and rolling on his back or side from laughing so hard

- its pretty rare but sometimes he snorts in the middle of a laugh too

- when langas laughing Really hard its loud and kind of wheezy and almost like a cackle and he covers his mouth most of the time just out of habit

- he curls up when he laughs too so he'll be laying on rekis bed or the floor and reki says smth that catches him totally off guard and he starts fucking cackling and brings his knees up to touch his forehead hitting his leg and wheezing

- langa helps reki teach chihiro and nanaka how to ride a bike and the four of them go on little bike rides together occasionally

- the twins pulling on langas pant leg until he bends down so they can whisper gibberish in his ear and the first time langa is like ??? but then he learns to just laugh and nod 

- all of rekis sisters coming into rekis room while langa is there to be like :D langa :D and reki herding them out and yelling we're busy and then just flopping on his bed to continue scrolling through his phone in silence

- reki does the older sibling thing and just stands in koyomis doorway 

- miya makes a meme reference that reki doesnt get and hes like god youre old and it wounds reki on a personal level

- reki has a piece of graphite just like permanently stuck in his leg bc when he was younger his friend accidently stabbed him with it and it broke off and just. stayed there

- reki gets super obsessed with one song for a week or two and he'll listen to it on loop like 10 times in a row and he learns the lyrics to them no matter the language and by proxy langa always has the stuck in his head

i just played just dance for 2 hours and it got me thinking: what would the protags of btvs/ats be like in regards to just dance?

nobody wants this but im making it anyway

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

Buffy: definitely the one who begged all the others to play with her. she uses the excuse of 'its technically training! but fun!' to get everyone on her side shes a very energetic dancer and tries her best even if she looks a tad goofy (because who doesnt look goofy when theyre playing just dance)

Willow: is very hesitant to dance and is self conscious about her dancing skills, but buffy is a very good motivational speaker. shes kinda awkward but it's in an adorable way!!

Xander: puts little to no effort into dancing but still manages to get all the yeahs and win. he knows how much it annoys the others and he thinks it's funny

Oz: not a dancer. will play like, one song and it's only because willow wanted to do a romantic duet with him (it's very sweet and everyone records it)

BtVS!Cordelia: doesn't dance but she will sing and expect everyone to applaud afterwards

Giles: he doesn't WANT to dance but the scoobies break him down. at first he's all reluctant and grumbles a lot but then he REALLY gets into it and is actually a pretty good dancer! he's definitely the last one dancing when all the others are tuckered out, calling them all weaksauce (in a british way)

BtVS!Angel: will get all mopey if you ask him to dance and his vibe puts everyone off and now NO ONE wants to dance. nice going deadboy!!!!

Spike: if it's s2 spike, he will kill you. if it's s5 to s7 spike, dawn definitely dragged him into it. he plays halfheartedly but still plays because he's GOTTA dawn asked him to!!!!!

Anya: gets entirely too competitive and rage quits because she doesn't understand that she doesn't have to move her whole body all the time and everyones doing so much better than her when they DEFINITELY aren't putting in all the effort!!!

Tara: once again, not really a dancer. if she does dance she only likes to do the slow dances. she'd much prefer to watch!

Dawn: she either loves the game or hates it. when she hates it it's definitely because of buffy

(bonus) Jenny: she kicks giles' ass and it leaves him very flustered and the scoobies are all like oh my fucking god ms calendar you are so fucking cool

ANGEL: THE SERIES

AtS!Angel: insists that he doesn't dance but cordelia eventually convinces him to play. he's a really awkward and dorky dancer but he gets in the zone and gets really competitive (esp when paired with spike)

AtS!Cordelia: she constantly brags about her amazing dancing but she's actually a terrible dancer (she's kind of self aware about it, but everyone still tells her it's just her remote on the fritz)

Wesley: knows he's a dorky dancer and embraces it. he just likes dancing with his friends even if they (gunn and cordelia for the most part) berate him about his dance skills

Gunn: RARELY dances, but when he does he blows everyone out of the water. he secretly enjoys playing it (although he does get annoyed at the game easily bc he's just too good for the sensors to process)

(i know there are other main ats characters (like fred) but i'm only like halfway through s2 so i'll have to add them later)

with seteth, affection STAYS private. it will never ever be displayed out in the open, especially not around the students. he prefers to keep personal relationships out of professional life

when he does show affection, though, it’s super slow and gentle. he always hugs you from behind and just sways side to side, pressing little kisses against your temple and cheek while you lean i to his embrace and close your eyes.

B -> Begin (How did the relationship begin?)

it didn’t really have a solid beginning. you just kind of wormed your way into seteth and flayn’s hearts unknowingly. when he asked to court you, you were super super hesitant because you didn’t want to replace his late wife. he assured you that she’d want him and flayn to be happy and that she’d 100% approve of you.

you still have your doubts, but seteth is always there to reassure you.

C -> Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How do they cuddle?)

cuddling is saved for nights or early mornings on a day off. seteth is always itching to get up and get things done, so it’s a little on the tougher side to get him to stay. eventually he caves and lays in.

you cuddle facing each other, your head tucked underneath his chin and his legs entangling yours. his hand that lays underneath you plays with the ends of your hair while the other rests gently on your thigh, which is hiked over his hip.

D -> Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How good are they at cooking and cleaning?)

seteth’s thoughts rarely every go astray, but when they do, he imagines what life would be like, just retiring from the monastery and living a nice life with you. he’d like to settle down eventually, but not any time soon

he’s super good at doing his part in chores and duties! of course he is, but he’s very very reliable and does things when asked. it’s nice

E -> Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)

he would sit you down and explain his reasonings and such. it hurts him, definitely, but he does well at hiding it. until you leave his office, that is.

F -> Fiancé(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quickly would they want to get married?)

not any time soon, as said earlier. seteth really will not stop his obligations towards the monastery and to fodlan. he wouldn’t have time nor would he want a very extravagant wedding, either. a simple ceremony would suffice.

G -> Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)

physically, seteth is the epitome of a soft, romantic man. his touches make you melt and he’s always trying to keep you comfortable and happy. if you’re content, hes content.

emotionally, not as much. seteth has trouble sympathizing with some things. he’s used to pushing his feelings aside for the sake of fulfilling a duty or doing something, so he struggles sometimes to understand why someone else can’t do the same. give him time, though, and he’ll get better at comforting

H -> Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)

seteth’s hugs are firm and warm. they’re always like a passionate embrace, as if it would be the last time he’d ever touch you

seteth really enjoys hugs and physical affection with you, but as i said earlier, it’s always behind closed doors. sometimes he calls you to his office just so you can sit in his lap while he holds you.

I -> I Love You (How fast do they say the L-word?)

NOT fast. seteth is kind of in denial that he even had feelings for you at first until flayn pointed it out, so it’s rather hard for him to wrap his head around the fact that he loves you.

he does say it first though, as you’re half asleep, making you wonder if you even heard it correctly. you did.

J -> Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)

seteth doesn’t get jealous, really. there’s really nobody around to even like, make him jealous. he knows that a bunch of weird ass teenagers like sylvain aren’t going to actually come in between his and your relationship. honestly, most people in the monastery probably don’t even know that you’re both in a relationship.

if he is jealous, he stays relatively nonchalant about it, asking you to help him with a task somewhere else to take you away from the person

K -> Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)

seteth’s kisses are very loving and passionate. every single one of them are full of adoration, even the little pecks. they never fail to warm up your entire body as everything melts away around you

he loves to kiss your neck. not just for more intimate reasons, but because he absolutely adores your giggles as his beard tickles your skin

this only happens when your relationship has been going on for a while, but seteth really enjoys it when you kiss his ears. they’re super sensitive and they always tinge as red as his cheeks when you kiss them.

L -> Little Ones (How are they around children?)

seteth is super good around his own child, of course, but he doesn’t so so hot around other children. theyre often too rambunctious for his liking, but he’ll tolerate them enough to entertain them sometimes.

you usually either wake up in the same position that you fell asleep in, or you’re spooning. seteth’s always the big spoon, no acceptions. if you’re spooning, he kisses your shoulders and the back of your head until you wake up enough to turn over and give him an actual kiss.

also soft, but a little less.

seteth is always so busy during the day that when he lays in bed, he falls asleep almost instantaneously. if you want to stay up and talk or cuddle, he’ll try his hardest, but please don’t be upset with him if he accidentally dozes off. he’s a hard worker

O -> Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything at once or wait to reveal things slowly?)

this depends on who you are. if you’re the professor, you more than likely already know everything by the time you get in a relationship with him

if you’re not, then he trusts you enough to catch you up on most things in the early weeks of your relationship. sometimes there’s a little tidbit that he may have forgotten to mention in the talk that comes up later on, but that’s really it

P -> Patience (How easily angered are they?)

seteth has the patience of a saint

but no, literally. very rarely does he get irritated or impatient with you. you know how he is and know how he likes things to happen or be done, so you do them. kind of like in the Domestic headcanon, he does his part so you try your hardest to do yours. he doesn’t ever have a reason to be impatient with you and is actually rather understanding now that he knows how you function as well

Q -> Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)

seteth remembers everything. literally everything. you’d think in his 1000+ years of life, he’d be an old ass man with shit memory, but no. to seteth, you and flayn are his number one priority and he’d never forget a thing about yall.

R -> Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)

seteth’s favorite memory is when he accidentally walked in on you hanging out flayn. you two weren’t doing much other than reading and talking about your books, but it warmed his heart to see his two favorite people bonding

S -> Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

insanely protective, but like in things that matter. if you’re doing something that could get you hurt, he’s in defense mode trying to get you to safety. if you’re in battle, he’s sure to always know where you are just in case.

he’s not one to appreciate being protected- he feels like he failed to protect his people in the past, so to be the protected instead of the protector makes him a little iffy- but he’ll always admit that he needed the protection and will always show his gratitude

seteth is romantic. he’s not much for physical gifts, but the memories and sentiment and feelings are so real and present that you really don’t need material things to know that he loves you

of course he does give you gifts, like a pretty bouquet of flowers that he saw in the greenhouse, or a necklace or something from the market that reminded him of you

U -> Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)

seteth tends to forget to slow down and take a break every once in a while. he’s constantly finding tasks to do around the monastery and doing things to help rhea that he often neglects his own well being. you always remind him and try your best to help him out, but he never really breaks that habit

V -> Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks? Do your looks bother them?)

seteth is rather concerned about how he’s seen in the public eye. how could he not? he’s a very prim and proper man. this, however, doesnt extend to you as much.

seteth is the lightest sleeper in the history of the world. he’s always on guard for something to happen. i dont blame him, but sometimes even the littlest bumps in the night wake him up almost completely. don’t ever try to sneak out of bed because chances are, he woke up from you just opening your eyes.

if anything, this habit becomes even more prominent when you start sharing a bed with him. he’s just afraid of losing you is all 😃

im putting my shame on display please dont stone me im just vibing djdkdnkddkdk

so back when i was first into undertale and started shipping a self insert oc with papyrus, i was writing a whole thing about them back then and i only remembered it lately and recalled the lore i put behind it which. honestly id kind of like to resume writing for it but id like someone to tell me if its a dumb premise and possibly give me some advice. also i want to infodump :^)

OK SO im not sure if people ever talked about this but im pretty sure the undertale universe has human mages. like judging by this slide from the opening, there were mages at least at the point when the war between humans and monsters was going on. so its probably not a stretch to say mages would exist in modern times too.

in my thing, mages are the result of human/monster pairings. but with monsters stuck behind the barrier, that was kind of a thing of the past. mages could still happen though, they were just rare because the gene skips generations until it decides to rear its head.

in any given generation, theres only a few thousand spread across the world. theyre heavily documented and are required to be stuck in special military owned schools to teach them control of their magic. in america, most of their mages live near mt. ebbot because theres a school and a military base there. two birds one stone kind of thing i guess.

once a mage graduates, theyre presented with an ultimatum to either join the military or get dumped into the world with lots of debt. it doesnt sweeten the latter deal that mages typically have some kind of physical or mental health problems (if not both) and the government retains a lot of the doctors that can do anything to help.

so obv most people choose to stick with the military and the only ones who dont are the mages from wealthy families or the Really Obstinate people like my oc. :^3c

ok time to be turbo cringey 👀 my self insert is called salem, which is Totally their real name and Not just one they picked because it sounded cool. they were born on the other side of the country (in one of the carolinas but they dont know or remember which) and were surrendered after a few months, then carted off to the school near mt. ebbot where they grew up. they absolutely Hated it there and once their graduation rolled around, they jumped at the chance to leave. unfortunately that left them in a ton of debt with few respectable career choices and nowhere else to really go so they end up sticking around the area doing guard work for various shitty people over the next 9 years.

despite their circumstances, salem is still a pretty exuberant person and they make an effort not to give away just how miserable they might be on the inside. they can be a little aggressive from time to time (being raised to be a fighting machine can do that) and theyve got a big complex about people calling them stupid. salem is affable enough in general but Real trust and openness is hard to come by until someone proves worth trusting. its a rewarding thing though because salem becomes 10x funnier once theyve really latched onto someone.

and speaking of, salem Really latches onto the monsters but Especially to papyrus. everyone is so kind and genuine and actually treats them with dignity but something about pap is just special to them. hes patient and affectionate and ends up completely stealing their heart.

sal can definitely put out some ‘neurotic prey animal’ vibes and pap makes it his mission to soothe their nerves by being their cool new friend. and he does! he just kinda falls for them in the process.

uhhhhhh some more little salem things:

-their mage genes come from a very distant fire elemental predecessor

-they have a scar across their nose, another on their left cheek, and countless others littered across their torso and back

-theyve got tons of ear piercings, a tongue & eyebrow piercing, and a tattoo of the moon cycles on their right forearm.

-they Love jewelry and especially love rings

-they have pointy teeth and their pupils are reflective

-theyre Complete besties w undyne once they get over their initial withdrawn period

-they have an orange soul

-they like to collect little knickknacks, especially tiny crystal sculptures, that theyve either pinched from shops or found.

ok so my problem is that i dont exactly remember the complete details of how salem comes to associate with frisk & the monsters since the stuff i wrote is long gone on my old computer. i Think my original idea was that they all live in the same building and salem accidentally mistakes sans&paps apartment for theirs one night after getting hurt really bad at their job. they end up Bustin Through while papyrus and sans have company over (undyne, alphys, & frisk) and pass out on the floor after squinting at everyone for a minute. the monsters patch them up and a very embarrassed salem says goodbye in the morning but continues to see sans and pap around the building and things progress from there.

that might be a dumb idea or kind of basic maybe though idk i just want to bounce some ideas off people :’-) also if nobody else wanted to read it i probably wouldnt bother typing it all out akaosjsodk anyhow thats all i can think of right now so in conclusion

I’d like to get something off my chest:

Im am not strong. At all.

Im not strong and its extremely taxing when people constantly think I am. I know I am the blame though.

Heres a backstory:

When I was a child, I was homeless. My mom and I slept on trains some nights. Other nights she had to fight with my father for a place to stay. My mom was always on her own. My mom got her ass beat almost everyday just to make sure I had a roof over my head. This is my first encounters with the idea of love.

Growing up, it was hard to make friends. I was always the new girl. My mom and my grandmother fought constantly over me so it was always a back and forth thing. I remember being made fun of because people thought I dropped out. A teacher thought I was arrested because I used to come in upset all the time.

My father told me at the age of 14 that he did not want me. To my face. My mom eventually followed suit at the age of 18.My father figure went through hell to prove I wasnt his child. At this point, I knew the direction my life would have to take. I had to navigate life the best way I could and hope to God I wouldnt fuck up.

Best believe, I fucked up.

At 16, I was raped and abused by the rapist. Imagine walking through a town that believed you were a hoe because a rumor started by someone who wanted you to go die. Ive had “friends” who wanted me destroy me for fun. I always let them. Ive already experienced the worst and im still alive, right?

I started cutting that same year. I hated myself.

When I finally reached college, I was not allowed to go out of he state. I was forced to pass up Princeton. I went to BCC instead. I was in a toxic relationship with Satan. I was abused yet again. I was in a relationship still handling life alone. I let her paint this picture of me that wasnt true. I was made to be a monster. Behind closed doors? I came home to broken furniture every other day from my mom fighting with her boyfriend. He would come home drunk and drugged everyday but had the nerve to play”daddy”. I would go days on end with nothing to eat because I had to scrap up change to make sure my brother ate . I was afraid to ask because I was always told I didnt deserve it or im asking for too much. I grew up with this mindset so it was easier to suffer than to fight . The only fighting I did was running away from home. Silly me. I slept on the grass in 15 degree weather outside of the Yankee stadium that night.

When I turned 18, I tried to fight . I really did. From then on out, fighting would be the only thing I knew. I fought so much that I fought for the wrong things. I fought for guys that didnt want me. I fought to be at tables that I didnt even have a chair at . I fought for things that did not belong to me. So in hindsight, I fought for things that I knew I had to let go. The sad truth?

I always had to let go .

As I grew older I got so used to just doing things on my own. I had to continue trying to figure life out for myself. I hated asking for help, so I rarely did. I hated having to overextend myself because I know that nobody would do the same thing for me. I had to be my own warrior . I still do.

Do you know what it is like to constantly live your life for everyone else but yourself?

Do you know what it is to take care of everyone else when you cant even but yourself a pair or work shoes?

Do you know what it feels like knowing youve literally broke your back to make sure others were good while you suffered in silence ?

I keep this smile on my face because when I suffered, the world grew silent. I was able to see what it was that I was suffering for. So in suffering I stayed because it was the only thing that made sense to me. It was the only consistent part of me that I ironically found comfort in. I am most productive in anger but on good days I stay in bed and cry. Good days dont exist. Theyre only good because I was able to provide a good day for someone else, not myself. It was only good because its like one less person disappointed with me before someone else comes along.

I am not strong.

I am drained of any will to fight

I dont want to help anymore

I dont want to over extend myself anymore

I dont want to be reliable

I dont want to be around anyone

I have yet to experience who I am as a human. I still til this day cannot figure out my purpose on this earth. And I wish people knew outside of what their issues were that im fighting thoughts of death and suicide on a daily basis because im constantly replaying all of the memories of me not being enough for anyone. Im constantly fighting so hard for someone to see that but im losing me in the process. Im constantly feeling worthless and not good enough . Im constantly asking for love and patience because I hardly ever give that to myself and I still dont know what that is. I wish people knew how their actions and words really do affect me. Im not as strong as anyone thinks . I appear strong because whats anyone gonna do when im not? Say theyre there for me and disappear anyways? Whos there to hug me? Whos there to pick me up out that grass field ? Who offers solice? Who allows my spirit to rest ? I havent even been able to turn to God anymore. Im constantly just trying to figure it out on my own and to be honest? I just dont want to anymore. I just want to be still and silent. I just wanna lay out everything I have and am on a table and let everyone just take what they need until they are satisfied. I dont wanna smile knowing im not happy with myself . Im just tired of finding a reason to believe I need to fight anymore. So suffering I constantly stay.

when or if i started shipping it: i cant actually remember for sure? i know i started getting into the gravity falls fandom after i had caught up, which was a lil bit after a tale of two stans aired, and i completely misinterpreted fords character and didnt really like him that much until that break inbetween roadside attraction and weirdmageddon, but then once i did figure him out i got really into it, so it mustve been around then? idk

what makes me happy about them: the fact that even tho there r ppl who will desperately insist ford is straight or ford is bi so he can still be Straight(tm) Ford Is Gay literally became a meme and despite alex herb not meaning anything less than hetti spaghetti by what he wrote abt them in the journal he still had to censor it and that theyre just two gay scientists who can help each other work through their trauma and heal together and do some cool science

what makes me sad about them: see above. one time somebody said ford might be gay bc of radiation poisoning and all my crops died

things done in art/fic that annoy me: oh boy i rly hate it when fids is characterized as a smol helpless waif and/or when ford is characterized as a lorge asshole. i hate all those one sided angst fics where fids is in love with ford but they cant b a thing bc ford is aro how tragic :’( or ones where fids is cheating on his wife with ford when u could easily just have a poly or open relationship or have the fic take place after they get a divorce, u dont know that that only happened after the mind gun stuff went too far. Ice Pops

The tension surrounding the coffee table in the Bangtan dormitory is thick and heavy and not something everybody is willing to wake up at 2am for. An emergency meeting, Yoongi had called it, while frantically knocking on everybody’s door in the middle of the night, his face a shade paler than it already is.

So around the table they sit, muttering under their breath how this is fucking stupid, let me go back to sleep, groggy eyes directing expectant stares at Min Yoongi while he paces back and forth, trying to think of a way to put his thoughts into words without making it sound too blunt. Nobody in their sleep-deprived state seems to notice that Seokjin is not sitting in his usual seat, wedged in between Taehyung and Yoongi, except for Jimin, who raises his hand half-heartedly and mumbles, “Why are we conducting an emergency meeting without Jin hyung?”

At the slight mention of Seokjin, Yoongi freaks. He slaps a hand over Jimin’s mouth with unnecessary strength, wide eyes darting around maniacally, his voice urgent and frenzied as he hisses, “Shut up, he’ll hear you.” Jimin grunts in pain and shoves Yoongi away, eyebrows furrowed in irritation, it’s too early for Yoongi’s bullshit.

Namjoon flattens his lips into a thin line, he knows how Yoongi is when Seokjin stays elsewhere for the night. “Yoongi hyung, Jin hyung isn’t even here, he can’t possible hear you,” he points out and barely manages to avoid the hand coming for his mouth.

“Yah! This is really an emergency!” Yoongi slams his hand onto the table in frustration unexpectedly, startling an already dozing off Taehyung and causing him to tumble off the couch. He glares daggers at Yoongi as he seats himself back onto the couch, a hand cradling the elbow that he’d hit on the coffee table. All of a sudden, the members are alert, it’s rare to see their second eldest hyung this worked up. He wouldn’t act this way unless it were really an emergency. They exchange worried glances and comply immediately when he gestures for them to come closer.

Yoongi has them huddled towards the centre of the table and they wait, at the ready - they think - of whatever he has to say to them. He lowers his voice to a soft drawl, “Have you ever seen hyung eat an ice pop?” All at once, they scatter, profanities rolling off the tips of their tongues in a series of “fuck this, i’m out“s and ”what the fuck, hyung“s. Like Jimin had mentioned earlier, it’s too early for Yoongi’s bullshit. In fact, any time is too early for Yoongi’s bullshit.

“Hyung, you’re drunk, aren’t you?” Hoseok presses the back of his palm on Yoongi’s cheek, to which the latter slaps his hand away indignantly and scowls.

“I’m not drunk, you shits,” he snarls and blocks their way as they try to make their ways back to their respective rooms (read: attempt) with his small stature.

“Let us go and Jin hyung won’t hear a word about this,” Jeongguk finally speaks up, the first words he had spoken since they had gathered around the coffee table, a wry smile playing on his lips. Yoongi’s expression darkens considerably, but he concedes anyway, he won’t hear the end of it if his hyung were to corner him and question him about the emergency meeting he held at 2am in the morning, only to ask the members if they’d seen him eat an ice pop. Truly mortifying.

But Yoongi knows he can’t possible go to war all by himself again, it was already that difficult surviving the first time. He needs comrades, he needs a plan.

“I don’t get what’s so interesting about Jin hyung choosing between Zesty Lime and Cherry Bomb,” Namjoon tells Yoongi blandly, to which he responds with a flick to his cheek - right in the dimple - and an annoyed but otherwise barely audible ‘sh’.

“Wait for it, you impatient fuck,” Yoongi grits his teeth at the other members’ fidgety restlessness. Seokjin was taking his time to choose a popsicle, completely oblivious to the fact that the other members had been hiding behind the shelf in the convenience store, in patient wait for him to just shove it down your throat already.

Shut up, Jimin.

After twenty seconds or so of flirting with the cashier, she blushingly tells him that he need not pay for it, to which he replies with a sly wink and a flying kiss. She looks like she’s about to faint, but immediately tends to the next customer as soon as he shoves a packet of cigarettes onto the counter. Yoongi rolls his eyes, but it’s better that she doesn’t witness what he knows is about to happen.

When Seokjin is done unwrapping the ice pop, the other members’ incessant pockets of whispers cease and they wait with bated breath for what Yoongi had been fearing for his life for - except Namjoon, the bastard doesn’t check his messages.

He first wraps his full lips around the tip of the Zesty Lime ice pop he had opted for, shuddering in unsullied delight as the refreshing iciness melts onto his tongue in a burst of flavour. With his lips still on the ice pop, his tongue pokes out from on top his bottom lip, first to collect any juice that has dissolved onto his bottom lip, then to curl around the popsicle and lick a stripe towards his lips before disappearing into his mouth again.

Fuck, Yoongi can already feel the wretched and all-knowing twitch in his jeans.

Without warning, Seokjin shoves the whole ice pop into his mouth, the whole fucking thing, his plump lips stretching around the end of the popsicle, red from effort and the frigid ice pop. Yoongi can’t possibly ignore the small choke erupting from the back of Seokjin’s throat or the tears bunched around the edges of his eyes, all the while allowing the ice pop to stay in its place. The last straw is when he hollows his cheeks.

Yoongi dares to chance a glance towards the other members. Namjoon has a trembling hand over his mouth, Hoseok’s jaw has gone completely slack, Jeongguk is muttering a long string of curse words under his breath, Jimin’s tongue is swirling on his bottom lip, and save the best for last, Taehyung’s face is a brilliant shade of red. Yoongi would laugh at them if it weren’t for the gradually taut feeling in his jeans, fuck, and he knows it isn’t even the worst part yet.

And as if Seokjin had read Yoongi’s mind, he moans around the popsicle in unadulterated pleasure, eyes lolling up for a split second before flitting back to maintain a loving gaze at the popsicle, painfully oblivious to the mortified stares the others were giving him (cashier included, whoops). When he decides that he’s done - thank God - he pulls the ice pop out of his mouth, the bright green of the popsicle reappearing at a sickeningly slow pace, and finally, finally coming out of his mouth with a slick ‘pop’ sound. (Yoongi vaguely remembers wondering if that’s why they called it an ice pop.) Everybody tries their best to ignore the glossy string of saliva connecting Seokjin’s mouth and the ice pop.

“What– what the fuck was that?” Jeongguk is the first one to speak up, his voice coming out as a squeak more than anything.

“That was way worse than any porn I’ve ever watched,” Namjoon has the cheek to say, and Hoseok hits his shoulder.

Yoongi smiles bitterly. “It’s already my second time witnessing this, and I still can’t get used to it.”

At this, Jimin chuckles and licks his lips. “Au contraire, Yoongi hyung, I think I could get used to this.”

“You’re disgusting.”

“I cannot believe you’ve been hiding the good stuff from us, hyung,” Hoseok mumbles, still recovering from the daze.

“Firstly, I’ve only seen it once before this. Secondly, who are the fucking idiots who ignored me when I was trying to tell them about this?” Yoongi sneers, face marked into a frown.

“You didn’t tell us he was going to deep-throat a-”

“Yah! What’s going on behind here? A secret cult meeting that I wasn’t invited to? I’m hurt,” Seokjin’s voice joins the conversation unexpectedly, his signature squeaky laugh bouncing off the shelves, and everybody startles. “Aren’t any of you going to get anything?”

Nobody knows how to respond for fear that he had been listening in on their conversation the whole time. To everybody’s relief, Taehyung breaks the silence.

“Ah,” Taehyung gestures towards a stream of juice flowing down Seokjin’s finger, onto his palm and down his arm. “Hyung, do you need a tissue for that?”

Seokjin responds in the form of a slight shake of his head before bending his head towards the trickle of juice down his right arm, and licking it, his tongue curling and flicking at every single last drop of juice. For some godforsaken reason however, nobody seems to be able to take their eyes of him, the way his tongue works up his arm (his arm, for God’s sake) in a way no person should ever be allowed to. Ever.

He pauses halfway, somewhere at his wrist, hooded eyes suddenly darting up at the rest of them, holding them in an accusatory stare, and Yoongi thinks it’s specifically directed at him. He gulps. Seokjin’s gaze doesn’t tear away from them until he’s done, and when he is, he simply beams at them and walks away, stuffing the ice pop down his throat once again.

“Do you think he knows?” Jeongguk croaks out, and everybody looks over at Yoongi apprehensively. And Yoongi doesn’t know how to respond to that.

Soon enough, everybody decides on an ice pop, Taehyung and Jeongguk opting for none - dietary reasons, they called it - and they make their way out of the convenience store, steely eyes too trained on Seokjin to notice a certain somebody sidling up next to Seokjin.

“Jin hyung, do you want to try my ice pop? Mine’s pink,” Jimin has an arm around Seokjin’s wide shoulders, his other arm outstretched towards the taller male in an attempt to feed him the Cherry Bomb. Seokjin gladly accepts any offers of free food he sees and allows his tongue to coil around the tip of the dark pink ice pop, humming in approval of Jimin’s choice. Jimin’s internal victory dance is short-lived as he is torn away from Seokjin’s side by a wild Taehyung.

“Hyung, I know you don’t like using tissues, but you’re making a mess,” comments Taehyung as he swipes his thumb on the corner of Seokjin’s lips, and bringing it to his mouth. Seokjin subconsciously flicks his tongue at the spot Taehyung’s thumb had been resting just moments ago, leaving Taehyung very flustered, who resorts to burying himself in Jin’s broad back to hide his pink cheeks. Yoongi would like to say that this was the end of the maknae line’s tactics, but it isn’t.

“Can I have a lick at your ice pop, hyung?” Jeongguk appears out of nowhere, and flashes a blinding smile at Seokjin. Yoongi lets out an audible gasp, the nerve of that brat, he knows how weak Seokjin is to the maknae, he’ll have to depend on the fact that Seokjin can be stingy with his food.

Seokjin chuckles at Jeongguk and ruffles his hair. “Only for my Jeongguk,” Seokjin coos and extends the arm holding the popsicle to Jeongguk, who responds more than happily by sticking it in his mouth and side-eyeing anybody who was throwing jealous glares at him. He smiles around the ice pop, but eventually moves away from it, a satisfied grin playing at his lips.

The elder hyungs can’t help but click their tongues at their dongsaengs, immature brats, Namjoon says. Except that he says it with the tone of voice that gives away the fact that he wants to be young enough and cute enough to get away with anything those “immature brats” just did, Yoongi duly notes.

Yoongi knows better than to brood over this, so he does the only thing he knows how to do in this sort of situation. He, in this opportune moment, decides that he is going play the roommate card, the card deemed the most despicable in the Bangtan dormitory, according to everybody but Yoongi.

But Seokjin beats him to it.

“Yoongi-chii, can I have a bite of yours?” Seokjin had somehow managed to shake off the three brats and sling his arm around Yoongi, a smile on his lips as he leans in to taste his ice pop, with absolutely no regard for Yoongi’s decision. Consent is important, kids.

“Yah, this hyung,” Yoongi bites back at him - albeit a little too affectionately - in the pretence of not enjoying all the attention the oldest hyung was spoon-feeding him. He loves it, he’s just had enough dignity to keep it in his pants so far, which reminds him of the boner residing in his jeans, which he has artfully hidden with a jacket tied around his waist.

Hearing Seokjin burst into his trademark laugh, Yoongi can’t help but smile.

It’s an hour to showtime and the members of Bangtan Sonyeondan are holed up in their dressing room, some of them drumming their fingers on the pristine white couches while staring at the wall on the opposite side of the room, some of them aggressively tapping on their phones, letting slip a curse word or two once in a while.

Seokjin, meanwhile, is thinking of what to do for his next Eat Jin, and he’s hungry to hear the members’ opinions on the idea he’s settled on.

“For my next episode of Eat Jin, I was thinking I could have something sweet to eat,” Seokjin muses out loud, tapping a finger on his chin. “A popsicle, maybe?”

At the mention of popsicle, all the members swivel their head around at him with wide eyes and parted lips and flushed cheeks. “No,” they respond, creepily in sync.

Seokjin’s head tips to one side, doe eyes wide with innocence, eyebrows arched up in confusion. “Why?”

“No reason,” Jeongguk replies hastily. Hoseok offers an unapologetic shrug.

Seokjin looks offended and while crossing his arms over his chest, huffs, “Then each of you is going to buy me a popsicle to make up for that.” His frown quickly melts into a toothy smile.

Taehyung is sent into a coughing fit, along with Namjoon. Jimin merely mirrors Seokjin’s expression.

And Yoongi doesn’t quite miss the way the edges of Seokjin’s lips quirk up into a knowing smirk.

my highlights list of Owl City songs

maybe you’ve only heard like “fireflies” and you dont have shit taste and aren’t a coward and so you’ve always hoped i’d make a list of imo extra standout owl city songs; maybe i just wanted to make something like this list even though i didnt try that hard to cut it down and it would change every day and i dont think i dislike any of his songs and could give reasons why i especially like some element of pretty much each of them

Assuming Everyone’s Also Heard: VANILLA TWILIGHT (Ocean Eyes), GOOD TIME (The Midsummer Station) they’re both amazing. vanilla twilight is intense and good for when you’re looking at a nice sunset and feeling brave. shaq is in the music video. that carly rae jepsen and adam young happened to team up was a great move by whoever initiated it, and good time is iconic, and there’s a version where carly rae jepsen is also singing the chorus and its better but i dont really know how to search for it in particular because its otherwise identical

***HELLO SEATTLE*** (Ocean Eyes) this was on the radio too so it couldve gone in the above section but it needs its own. im not sure i’d say this is officially my favorite owl city song but if someone hadnt heard anything by owl city this is the one i’d choose to represent his entire vibe and be the first impression. and you’d think nobody could possibly remix it but adam young himself did and its fantastic and relatable even though the only lyrics are the occasional words “hello seattle.” technically the first version of this song is on the album “of june” and theyre both good but i like the ocean eyes version best

DESIGNER SKYLINE (Of June) the most upbeat song on the album probably. adam young is very very good at lyrics and some elements of this include his imagery, rhythm, alliteration, wordplay, and general ability to make the words in a song both euphonic in the sound along but also be very Pretty content wise. ok im most serious about how good he is with lyrics so maybe i’ll be more concise after this one

FUZZY BLUE LIGHTS (Of June) owl city songs aren’t depressing or even really Sad even when they’re sad (w/ some exceptions…cough silhouette) but they’re good if you are / have been a Sad Person Who Lives In Their Head because thats what a lot of the songs are about / the perspective theyre from. this one sounds like that and also like an overcast day

***IF MY HEART WAS A HOUSE*** (Ocean Eyes) the Best love song of the whole discography imo. it goes hard as fuck. i don’t date but for the duration of this song i have a gf/bf/nb-f

THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG (Ocean Eyes) one of the best and another one of the best love songs. im especially partial to the winter theme now o course. this super cool thing happens in the middle with amazing lyrics and this volume effect. the instrumental versions of this and if my heart was a house are also killer

ANGELS (All Things Bright And Beautiful) adam young loves jesus a whole lot; this song is about literal christian angels. i love the alliteration of the lines “in the dust on the cellar staircase / a pair of footprints followed me / i saw a flicker in the fake fireplace”. not many owl city songs are from both an upbeat perspective AND have upbeat music, and this one’s chorus really goes for it. adam y.’s pretty excited about jesus stuff i think and so when he channels that in songs especially about jesus, it’s pretty energetic. but for the most part his songs arent overtly christian save maybe some passing references, so if thats a concern dont worry

***GALAXIES*** (ATBAB) for example, this one definitely has a jesus line. but this is just one of the references to an unspecified “he” which means it could also just be interpreted as gay. (owl city belongs to the gays btw) and this really is a song to go ham to and listen to it with stereo speakers because one of my fave parts relies on that. the intro is a bit jarring because the outro of “january 28, 1986” is meant to transition into this one

DEMENTIA (The Midsummer Station) i’d put this as a highlight but recognize its coz its a personal fave. it sounds like it would be incredibly depressing of course but it has nothing to do with actual dementia thank god. it’s a love song and very upbeat in both sound and content. i’m hugely partial to the lyrics, especially the pairs “every light in the night flickered in and out / every bone in my back shivered up and down”; “every voice in my head shouted yes and no / every freight train of thought fought to stop and go”; “every tear in my eyes dripped and wouldn’t drop / every disc in my spine shook and couldn’t stop” and “every hand let me go that i tried to hold / every warm-hearted love left me freezing cold”

KISS ME BABE, IT’S CHRISTMAS TIME (single) he has a bunch of random christmas singles and this ones the best. the titles ridiculous and i love it, and the song isn’t really about anything and i love it. it is such a bop. “peppermint winter” and “humbug” are the other best xmas ones

SHOOTING STAR (Midsummer) half the songs on this album are summery dancey songs about having fun with other people (usually owl city songs are about being lonely or having fun with one other person tops by cloudwatching, so this album is unusual in that regard and rocks out a bit which is also unusual as per owl city’s tendency to sound really dreamy or otherwise fairly light. it bothers people who are in the “the old stuff is better” camp of everything) and the other half are upbeat summery songs that are encouraging and tell you you’re a good and special person. this one is the latter and a lot of fun. i like the lyrics and melody of the lines “fan a flame so hot it melts our hearts” and “let your colors burn and brightly burst / into a million sparks that all disperse / and illuminate a world that’ll try to bring you down” (but not this time)

GOLD (Midsummer) same category song as above (title refers to “i know you’re gold”). it’s great and sung to a person about to go off and do something and you’re telling them they can totally do it because they’re great. i maintain that one of the Owl City Signature Moves is The Affectionate Sigh: he’s very good at working in words sung with a rising/falling tone, a la a sigh, and its an upbeat delivery not like a “im sad” sigh. when it happens in this song is my favorite part of the whole thing, at the end of the line: “you’ll never be far, i’m keeping you near, inside of my heart, you’re he^re”

BEAUTIFUL TIMES (Ultraviolet EP) the songs on ultraviolet all have a super cool sound, kind of mixing the more loud/layered/noisy quality of midsummer station with the more introverted vibe he usually has, and are all kind of about being stressed and sad but looking to something or someone and kind of seeing a chance to feel okay. “this isn’t the end” is completely about a girl who’s dad kills himself but it has the really good line “you fight to survive cuz you made it this far” and otherwise has a technically uplifting end but without much of the “you shouldnt kill yourself because life is magical” bs which is useless and irrelevant imo but instead the “life is chaotic and you cant say the future is going to be good but it exists and meanwhile you’re not dead yet” which is an infinitely more thoughtful approach. but anyways, about beautiful times: its also about being happy but usually being really sad (“this fight of my life is so hard (so hard, so hard) but i’m gonna survive, oh oh these are beautiful times,”) and also isnt very patronizing about the subject (the prospect/aspiration of feeling happy when you’re a Sad Person) and frames everything in having had damagingly negative feelings while still being overall positive. i really like the way he sings into the first few verses with an echo of what will be the first couple of words, overlapping slightly and growing in volume before taking you right into the actual start of the verse. this is the most upbeat sounding song of the EP imo

THUNDERSTRUCK (Mobile Orchestra) the intro alone is killer. one of the most Go Hard to songs of the owl city discography. proudly carries the tradition of singing about ghosts (see: plant life, a fun-to-sing-along-to song all about an actual haunted house)

BACK HOME (Mo Orch) this album has a lot of sounds that, while familiar, are different from any of the other albums, like this one which is very very country. it goes hard as fuck. it uses the word “fireflies” for the first time since fireflies. i love it

CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU (M.O.) personal fave of the album is mostly why this is here. as the title suggests its a dramatic love song, i love how pumped the chorus is and the way the outro sounds. Love To Sing Along

***WHEN CAN I SEE YOU AGAIN?*** this is peak “happy music, sad lyrics” even though thats everywhere in owl city music, its pretty rare to find songs that are straightforwardly happy. this song is a banger and lyrically crushing. i guess its in the “bittersweet” category like a shit ton of owl city songs are, but still. this song changed our lives

I HOPE YOU THINK OF ME has this sick chill drumbeat throughout the song which is kind of rare. it kind of fuses his underwater type sound with his going hard as hell sound. like, it would be like the choreography of “bet on it” if i was listening to this song while standing up. you get really into the lyrics. i love this part at the end where the music pulls back for just a second while he goes “the thought is KILLING me!” shoutout to “kamikaze” where he yells half of it and its invigorating, shoutout to “paper tigers” which is an amazing song that hasnt shown up on an album

SUNBURN (Ocean Eyes) possibly the cutest owl city song. it has a sweet guitar riff. cute sweet, not sickass sweet.

HOT AIR BALLOON (Ocean Eyes) possibly the happiest owl city song. extremely cute but not as cute as sunburn but happier than sunburn.

BEAUTIFUL MYSTERY killer intro, really upbeat, the melody of the verses is great and the chorus goes pretty hard

RAINBOW VEINS (Maybe I’m Dreaming) another top level cute and happy song (“cheer up and dry your damp eyes, and tell me when it rains, and i’ll blend up that rainbow above you, and shoot it through your veins”) and has a top tier chilled out whispery interlude/bridge/whatever that then throws you into this pumped up finale

THE YACHT CLUB (ATBAB) speaking of being thrown into a pumped up finale, this does that too. so does “umbrella beach.” this one goes hardest imo and the live version of it goes even harder than that. plus the lyrics are amazing and the alliteration is stellar

***SUPER HONEYMOON*** (Maybe I’m Dreaming) consistently one of my top tier faves. i like the semi staccato delivery of parts of the lyrics, the music is fantastic, also very Classic Example of owl city

Adam Young) obvs not owl city but i’m putting it in, the full 4 min version. not only dreamy and bittersweet but one thing i always love in music is an unresolved musical phrase repeating on end. there’s also this part in the middle where his vocals kind of layer and grow and it has a long E sound and when he lingers on the long E its one of those things that would be grating except for its actually great because of that. see: honey and the bee

MR. HEARTACHE (ft. Adam Young) a total bop about being sad. like i wanna jump around to this song. see: tokyo, the song by adam young (owl city) featuring the artists of this one, SEKAI NO OWARI, which has my fave lyric “are you having fun yet, i’ll send you the sunset, i love the most”

FIREFLIES (Said the Sky remix) the intro to this is like, oh my god. the only fireflies remix the world needs.

UMBRELLA BEACH (Long Lost Sun remix) the original is great but i love this version even more. the finale is fantastic and exuberant

Huh! An Idea!

Hey I just heard about a very cool-seeming anime called (I think?) Rehibilitaion Of An MMO Junkie! It seems really nice cos its one of those stories about hikkomori (I think thats the japanese word for it?)- depressed people who stay at home all day and are socially anxious about going out in public. LOL RELATEABLE, AMIRITE? no but seriously beyond just Jokes, this is a very sad modern manifestation of a timeless mental illness, and i know these feelings well and i wish people could have less stigma about this and instead just give these people the help they need. And that’s why i love this anime concept, cos its a sympathetic take on one of these people as a protagonist, and how videogames as escapism can be A Good Thing and how long distance relationships Are Also Good. Like wtf, subverting all the cliches at once?? Its a really cute looking romance story of her meeting a guy online via vidjagaems, and their love being absolutely real and pure, and it rekindling her will to live and helping her find the courage to take more risks in real life and start the road to recovery. And then they work thru all their various issues as a couple and meet up in real life and have a happily ever after! :D

Now okay, that sounds really cool and I ABSOLUTELY want to watch this show and I will make more posts about it when I do! But also it gave me a bit of a story idea so i’m gonna ramble!!!!!

Okay so kind of a wasted potential thing here is how it has a plot about the two halves of the couple playing as the opposite gender online and like.. nothing is done with it? Nothing really creative or relevant to like.. gender. It just seems like a weird way they could invoke LGBT imagery but technically not be LGBT I guess? Like neither character is trans or has any deep reason for playing that character except ‘my fave colour is pink and people would make fun of me if they knew i was a dude’ and ‘i wanna play a hot guy cos i was kinda lonely and drunk when i saw this MMO’. But then a lot of stuff about it kinda feels like the writers were.. not predjudiced against LGBT or anything?? like the lady protag has NO angst about getting a crush on a seemingly female player, it seems perfectly acceptable in-universe and nobody even mentions homophobia. And there’s a pair of characters that for all extents and purposes looks like a gay couple for half of the game its just like a footnote that one of them is female in real life. So like I don’t know if this was someone being overly careful to censor stuff while still hinting at it, or like if it was never intended to look LGBT and it was all a weird accident?? But anyway thats why it made me go WTF THERE WOULD BE SO MUCH POTENTIAL IN AN LGBT MMO ROMANCE and hey here we go!

THE IDEA TIME what if there was an anime about someone who plays a (presumed) cis dude in an mmo who is actually a trans dude irl? so you could have the same plots about keeping a secret and having a big difference between real and internet personas, but also it could be a wish fullfillment persona and the plot could be less about ‘i’m lying about myself’ and more about ‘the only place i can be the real me is online’. And how sad that is and then how triumphant it could be at the end to be able to be himself in the real world too! and also like... its already coincidental enough that two people would fall in love in an mmo and then end up to be living in the same neighbourhood in real life. so if this anime has me have to believe that silliness, its not too silly to say that two trans people could bump into each other in an mmo! have a trans man and a trans woman who meet as their online personas without knowing either of them is trans, and then their adventures online forming their relationship, learning about each othr, and like meeting a bunch of other LGBT players and forming a guild to fight discrimination in the mmo community?

Also it could be interesting to maybe combine this with the ‘trapped in an mmo world’ genre? Like it’d be extra cool to be a trans dude who’s like.. one of the only people who doesnt want to escape the MMO world. And people could think he’s just a childish jerk who’s addicted to the fantasy life, not knowing about his secret reason he loves this new life. So maybe his personality could be a very ordinary and cute looking dude whose personality is like.. absolutely fearless monster battle man! Like everyone else’s mmo avatars are all super idealized cliche buff and hot people and his is just as close as he could get to his real self but post transition. So he’s five foot tall and chubby and has big ol soulful dragon ball Z krillin eyes and then his job class is something unfitting like gladiator or barbarian with an axe twice his body size! And then in retrospect that’s the most cliche masculine class so maybe the female lead could be a not cliche feminine class, so it doesnt seem like I’m making any statement? cos ‘youre not trans if you dont act stereotypically your gender’ is a real issue within the community, sadly. Oh! Maybe! Maybe theyre both buff classes! But like he could be a tank type that protects his allies and she’s just a regular warrior with no extra functionality. Or another DPS class like thief or black mage? But I like the idea of two very shy and adorable people who both prefer buffness, and then having kind of a badass hero role amoungst their guild and the plot itself. Like, winning the actual battles against bosses is less of a challenge than conquering their various real life worries and being emotionally ready to return home at the end of the journey. Its like a slice of life hiding as an action show! Except you still do see action, its just all comparatively effortless like one punch man. Oh and maybe while male lead made his avatar look just like himself but post transition, female lead’s avatar is kind of an exaggerated ideal stereotypical female thing? Because she’s self concious about being very tall and not very curvy and stuff, even post transition. And like she’s angsting about being forced into further cosmetic plastic surgery that she doesn’t really want, to get a body that she doesn’t really want, but feels like she HAS to have. Like maybe she has some sort of friend in real life who’s like a Fedora Wearing Fake Nice Guy who keeps trying to get her to give in and date him like ‘you’ll never get anyone else’, and trying to make her change herself. Negging champion of utter hateability!

And then female lead could be kind of a mentor role to male lead because she’s post transition, and motivates him to believe that someday he’ll be able to transition too and he doesn’t need to stay trapped forever in a fake world in order to be himself. And he could also be the same mentor role to her because he’s like... happy? Well, obviously he isn’t 100% happy because that’s his whole problem, but he doesn’t have the same social anxiety issues and he’s more confident in his anxiety without worrying that he’s wrong and he really is a girl, etc etc. Like he’s at peace with being trans and his obstacle is just feeling like he’ll never pass successfully without surgery, and never be able to get that surgery. It took him ages to even get on HRT, possibly because of something like being trapped in an abusive family that didnt aknowledge his gender? or possibly just because of being in a country where he’d need a lot of money to get the treatment he needs, or because of struggling to find a good doctor? So anyway now he’s just started HRT and he expected everything to be okay now, but he’s getting frustrated how long it’s taking to have the amount of visual change he needs to be respected by his coworkers and stuff, and now he’s had some sort of other money emergency and he may not be able to get top surgery in the end. So at the time of starting this MMO he was really un-optimistic about his future and looking for an escape. And she was looking for a similar escape because she didnt have any support group while transitioning, and had got trapped into an abusive relationship with this other dude that was making her feel like a fake woman who’d never be loved by anyone except him. So she was considering giving in and falling into his trap, and that’s her reason to be terrified of going back to the real world... And so they both are all OH MY GOD YOURE SO AMAZING I’M SO TRASH about each other, and they help teach each other two different aspects of self love that they were missing, and they make a bunch of other friends in the LGBT community, and generally find the love and support they always needed! And then in the end they could go back to the real world and move in together and slap negging man in the face, and keep in touch with all the other guildmates and create a better community for all queer folks playing this game! Woo! And also maybe the final scene could be like ‘wow we havent seen you guys for ages’ ‘yeah we were so busy with the wedding, we couldnt play!’ and then the guild’s wedding gift to them was saving up for a rare ingame item that lets you re-customize your character, and female lead makes one that looks closer to her real life appearance cos now she’s happy with herself! and then we pan out and see that male lead now also looks totally identical to his ingame self, and he did manage to transition in the end! ...and then i dunno, cliche anime everyone looks at the camera and jumps and the theme tune plays, lol

#blunni thoughts #also this reminds me of a manga i read once where the plot was like 'dude dissappears every month i bet he's a werewolf' #and then it turns out he's 'really a girl' or whatever and i just felt sad that he wasnt a trans man #and instead we had ANOTHER anime plot about someone forced to crossdress against their will for contrived reasons #like seriously why do people love plots about transition drama only as long as nobody is trans...
