#i just want to see fearne be more chaotic and weird
Text
Given how Fearne physically changed when they got to the Feywild, I'm really hoping that she'll act more impulsive and closer to the Fearne we met at the beginning of the campaign. I want to see and support her wrongs, and for the group to deal with the ramifications of a Faun and her nana who are just so unsettling and yet supportive at the same time.

(this might be a silly question, and please take this in the best possible faith, i don't mean it to be any kind of a gotcha or a trap, okay now that that's out of the way) i'm a cr fan who hasn't started c3 yet (still trucking through c2 and loving it) but i've been a quiet observer to whatever tf has been happening in the tumblr tags for it and have enjoyed your takes/opinions. so, asking this as someone without context who's not trying to comment on any recent ship developments (don't worry about spoilers though, not trying to avoid any), are there parts of c3, either characters or plot or backstories or whatever, that you do really enjoy/find compelling? (you might have already answered this, i've only been following you for like. a week and a half.) thank you!
Hi anon!
Yes, there definitely are! I completely get where you're coming from for this question, too, but I appreciate the context because I have gotten questions before where I feel like someone is trying to corner me and say CAN'T YOU BE POSITIVE??? Anyway, more on that at the end because I want to get to the things I do like, because there are, in fact, a lot. Also, because you've been vaguely following stuff this is chock full of spoilers just FYI.
Ashton, Chetney, and Fearne are all great characters. There is a lot of thought put into all three by the cast members who play them, I find their backstories and their inner lives rich and interesting, I am actually pretty patient with the Hishari plotline because Ashton has so much else going on that while I'm curious, I don't feel deprived. Chetney is just a great concept (for real people need to play older adventurers more often) and Travis is perhaps an unparalleled generator of interesting plot hooks, and Fearne constantly surprises me with her emotional depth and mischief - after two campaigns of Ashley playing characters who were often more, if not subdued, restrained or thoughtful, it's wonderful watching her let loose and be chaotic and cause problems.
Imogen is tricky because she's a character archetype I love, but her closest relationship does nothing for me. I would really love to see Laura lean into the darkness and moral ambiguity more. With that said her relationships with most of the rest of the party are great and I'd like more of them, and her family dynamics are also fascinating. With Imogen...I do want payoff but there has consistently been enough to keep me going.
Orym and FCG are interesting cases because I always liked Orym well enough but he was extremely Just A Guy - he delivered consistently but never wowed me - and I could not stand FCG earlier on. However, Orym's current arc is phenomenal. Liam's style doesn't always work for me but when it does, it really does, and the past few episodes have been top-tier Orym content. Similarly, after FCG learned of their history and met Dancer, they have been on an upswing that has not ended. I have never before turned around on a character to this degree but I love what Sam is doing. So if you're early on and FCG pisses you off: valid, but he gets good around episode 31 and then keeps being good.
The party split arcs are great. I love Uthodurn, I love Molaesmyr, I love getting to see some of Issylra, there's some great combat, the guests are all fantastic, it's a standout Laudna arc (quite literally part of why I've been recently frustrated with Laudna is because it's like every scrap of character development vanishes when she's within 15 feet of Imogen, like the dumbest paladin aura, but episodes 59-63 Laudna you will always be famous.
Earlier on, everything while Dorian is there is a fun time. Eshteross is precisely up my alley as are the Green Seekers. I also love the Twilight Mirror Museum heist.
The Bassuras arc is rough because there's a lot of good stuff going on but the plot is all weird and slow and I did not enjoy the guest arc. That said: some great interpersonal conversations, and also the Deathwish Run is a fun time if, like me, you love combat.
Yios casino episode, also a good time. The best way I can put it for someone watching through is that like...episodes 1-23 are typical finding one's characters/figuring out what's going on early campaign stuff, enjoyable overall, and the flaws within them can be attributed to that. 24-38 have plenty of bright spots within them (some of which I talked about) but it's a real slog at times. 39-42 are great. 43-45 are nonstop lore dump time, which isn't to say they are bad - there's some good stuff in there - but after 24-38 being lore dump and weird setup city it's a bit exhausting. Once the party goes to the feywild in 46 things get good and stay good. Like, for all the current romance isn't doing anything for me it's also, at this point, literally 2 minutes in an episode that otherwise fucking rules.
So just to get back on the bit about positivity: I tend to talk a lot more about what isn't working than what is. Some of this is because I firmly believe complaining is an art and a skill and is more fun to write. Some if it is also because I think if I like something, I just...like it! I can probably figure out why I like it if I want, but there's something very enjoyable about, well, just enjoying something. But if I don't like something, it's important for me to try to tease out why. Sometimes it's just that it doesn't work for me. There have been past CR characters who, while I can talk through the things I find I don't like about them, in the end it really comes down to "I think this personality is annoying, and that's valid and also a personal opinion." But sometimes I can frame it in terms of lack of narrative weight or momentum, or mechanically suboptimal builds that don't fit in with the character, or what have you, and I think it's valuable to be able to say that instead of just "wow this sucks." Like, there's meta to be had in why I don't care for something, whereas, for example, Fearne's incredibly clutch moves in the most recent episode were things I called out in my liveblogging but I don't have much to say other than "Ashley made some baller combat choices."

If you are still doing the character bingo...the druidcraft besties Orym and Fearne?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i was a little leery about orym's whole Just A Little Guy thing, but i've been pleasantly surprised at how well liam is handling it, and orym has made me really appreciate what liam's been doing for all three campaigns a lot more. (he also made me like zephrah, i bought the zephrah dice for you babyboy <3) his friendship with fearne is just [clenches fist] like when he stole her the spyglass? mwah
orym gets more spots on this bingo bc there isn't a spot for "every time i see you on my screen i go !!"* fearne is also great!! i love watching ashley just get to go all out at the table and do weird chaotic fey things and have fun and have some absolute bangers in combat—"oh is this hurting you?" and "i know, i want to touch her" both come from the same place and it FUCKS. i especially liked her shard arc, but i also enjoyed her during the wildemount arc; i feel like she was a very strong emotional core to the group.)
*and every time we kiss i swear i could fly

CHAPTER ONE
📺 WARNINGS 📺
FLUFF, FXM FXGN
📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺📺
"Ashton, you're in your head! Why wouldn't she? You are a delight!" FCG said as he gestured to the taller green punk who was stressed and pacing around the small bedroom they shared. "FCG, have you fuckin' seen her?! She's chaotic but hot" Ashton said while waving his arms in emphasis as continues "I break shit and drink! I don't know how to do this kind of shit!" His voice slightly strained as the small Aeromaton shook his head in disbelief at his best friend's words.
Ashton was a delight and any lady or heck anyone would be lucky to date him!
"Whoa there friend! You are a delight and you look you two already got drinking in common! Not to mention you’re both pretty good at fighting, bam two things!" FCG said to try and support his friend, because gosh darnit he deserved love and happiness and he will be darned if he doesn't help that come into fruition. "I mean I guess, but like I'm a mess--" "I don’t think she thinks that about. You should see how she looks at you! She looks at you the same way she looks at something she wants to steal!" FCG tried to reason as he wheeled towards his best friend to try and offer some comfort to the Genasi who was slowly spiraling into self doubt. "That’s because she probably wants to steal something off me!" Ashton said trying to reason with his self doubt, because really why him.
"Ashton, you’re a charming person and you deserve love! The worst that can happen is that she says no and the best is that you guys get married and live happily ever aft--" "but what if she says no?! What if I make it weird and ruin our friendship and she hates me and thinks I’m a creep and doesn’t want to be in the same room as me?! Then the others will have to pick sides and they will obviously pick her because look at her! She's hot as hell and I'm literally something they scraped from the gutter!" He was panting by the end of is speil as he rested his hands on his knees. "What if I'm not good enough for her?" His voice quieted as he let himself show to the one person he could trust.
"Ashton, you are wonderful and amazing and super cool! You guys already have a reputation of shenanigans and heck, Mister doesn't actively attack you when in your presence and besides...you're already friends and you may not be able to see how much of a cool and awesome guy you are but I know she will" FCG's voice became soft as he placed his small metal hand on the others hand. "Now, you go show her and yourself how cool you are!" If FCG could show literally any other emotion than 'smiley day' he would offer him a reassuring smile.
"You know what? Yeah! I am fucking awesome and I fucking got this in the bag!" Ashton began hyping himself up, smacking his cheeks a bit and walking towards the door with confidence but the moment his hand touched the doorknob it was like the confidence was drained from him "NOPE! I lied! I can't fucking do this!" Ashton turned around to go plop on his bed only to be stopped by FCG who despite only being able to smile seemed to have a look of determination on him. "Well sometimes we gotta fake it till we make it! Now to win her heart!" With that FCG turned Ashton around and pushed him out by his knees and closed the door behind him. "Oh come on letters!”
And that's how Ashton found himself outside the trio's room, hand ready to knock and tried to push down the nerves and self doubt coiling in his throat as he knocked on the older wooden door.
The door opens to reveal Orym shirtless, not unusual this late in the evening so Ashton didn't think too much about it, "Fearne you promised us 10 more minutes!" Dorian yelled from deeper within the room, causing Orym to blush slightly. "WELL HELLO ASHTON WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" Orym yelled out loud enough for Dorian to hear, sputtering could be heard from the Air Genasi. "So anyways what's up?" Orym asked casually as if he wasn't just interrupted from doing gods knows what.
he wasn't just interrupted from doing gods knows what.
"Fearne, you seen her?" Ashton asked, trying to be as casual as possible.
"Why, what's up?" Oryms voice laced with worry because it is Fearne "did something happen?" As the possibilities flooded into the halfling's brain.
"Nothing's wrong! I just--uhh-um, I just need to ask her something is all." Smooth Ashton thought sarcastically as Orym raised an eyebrow at him, choosing to ignore whatever mess was going on with the taller man who was failing to not look like a train wreck in front of the shorter.
"Uh huh, well she's out for a walk with Mister right now" Orym said in almost a confused tone as he eyed the other, barely hearing the "Kay, thanks bye!" As Ashton ran out the inn to look for Fearne.
"What was that about?" Orym asked himself before returning to gods knows what.
Ashton made his way outside into the evening air. 'If I was Fearne, where would I go…” He thought for a moment. "A park! She likes plants and shit!" He ran towards the park that was a few blocks away from the Krook house, basically ready to pass out from running two blocks, nonstop. Glancing at the distance as he watched Mister fight and eat a flower as Fearne watched with eyes filled with love for the small elemental.
"Fuck it nope cant do this" Ashton said about to turn around before Fearne's voice stopped him "Ashton?" He froze before turning and his mind filled with panic as he spoke awkwardly to the fawn who began walking towards him "oh hey uhhhh shit, I was just wondering if uh, if you were doing anything tomorrow evening?" His words rushed and panicked as he felt dread fill in the pit of his stomach as he waited for What felt like forever but was honestly a few seconds. "Well why wouldn't I? I really don't know anyone else here nor do I know anywhere to where to go" her voice slightly confused and innocent as she pulled mister away before he tried to eat a squirrel.
"So do you wanna hang out tomorrow?" A bit of hope clung to his words as he stared at her "Oh yeah sure." Her voice was casual as if it were just another day and completely unaware of the mess that was Ashton currently. "Where would you like t--" she could barely finish her sentence as Ashton cut her off "Awesome! Cool, see you tomorrow" Ashton nearly sprinted the whole way back to the tavern with a mix of nerves and excitement balling up in his stomach. As he reached the steps of the tavern a realization came to him.
"Oh for fucks sake! I forgot to tell her where we're going!"

Okay so, for everything that went down last episode technically the only pieces of lore from past episodes that are relevant to what happened is that 1)while a Lot of other stuff ended up happening while here, the Bell's Hells are in Basurus to capture & bring back Armand Treshi cuz he did crimes and is on the run, 2)they know Treshi is hiding out in a mercenary group, called the paragon's call, & have managed to get accepted to the group/set up in their headquarters, 3) that the leader of the paragon's call Otohan Thull featured in one of Imogen's moon dreams & talked to her in it. 4) ruidus (the red moon) Isn't A Moon & has a city on it, is surrounded by a sort-of divine gate type lattice, & is maybe connected to two forgotten gods of Exandria (and all of that is probably why there are people/a whole ass cult attached to it)
The 1st half was very chaotic as it opened to the paragon's call being attacked by an unknown group of people (we still don't know exactly who they are), and our crew in the chaos managed to grab several interesting items, Treshi, and attempt to get tf out of dodge (more happened than that technically but it's not what the yelling was about)
The 2nd half is where shit gets real, as they left the paragon's call headquarters they were stopped by Otohan & she of course demanded to know who sent them/what they're trying to do. There's a little back-and-forth (where we learn she can reach into their heads & grab info) that quickly turns into combat. Now, Otohan turns out to be an Echo Knight (with the magic coming from a weird techno backpack she has) & that's real bad cuz she gets 1st in the initiative and Hits Hard.
She knocks Ashton out on her turn and we quickly discover that she has legendary actions & resistances. Most of the rest of the fight is the Bell's Hells trying to run away but being stymied by how hard she hits & the fact that they're all not at 100% spell-wise (& don't quite want to abandon each other). Several people go down & are brought back up, and go down again. Otohan is also somewhat fixated on Imogen, as she wants her to "give in" to Ruidis' power/influence (and is using her hurting Imogen's friends as a way to force the issue). Near the end of the ep, the status check on everyone is just Bad. Ashton is up but has booked it a ways away, FCG is up but hiding (both have Real Low hp), Orym and Fearne are Dead (Otohan killed them because they kept popping back up & to affect Imogen) Chetney is down with 2 failed death saves, Laudna is as well but her going down triggered something greater (Otohan before attacking her asked Imogen "is this one your favorite?" prompting Imogen to immediately beg Otohan to spare her, saying she'll give in). When Laudna went down Imogen had to roll a wis saving throw & rolled a nat 1, giving into whatever power is within her.
Matt described Imogen's hair fully levitating, the area around them going still and ruddy red, her skin turning crimson, and the fractal marks on her hands spreading to whole parts of her body and shedding light. She screams in grief and rage and the space around her distorts, dragging the surrounding buildings apart, and with one final wave everything goes white. And that's where we left off! No idea what's gonna happen next.
(Fun facts, Orym's last thoughts were a sense of failure but also knowing he'll see his husband and father figure again, and Fearne's was "boy. That was one heck of a run" or smthing similar)
Hope this helps, I didnt include every bit of everything so if there is anything that isn't clear I can try & elaborate!
since others apparently also want to read, posting the explanations i got in asks that aren't on the post itself
(and thank you for writing!)

Re-watching the first episode of Exandria Unlimited because I was super nervous and flail-y the first time, and I missed a lot.
(1.) I’m loving it more than ever.
(2.) There’s really something quite touching about the fact that four out of five party members confirmed that it was their second time ever in a city tavern, and what that says about them.
D&D parties are often made up largely (or entirely!) of outcasts or misfits of one type or another, but most of this party is made up of a very specific type of misfit: not only new in town, but fresh out of a very sheltered existence, lost and confused in their new environment, severely lacking in worldly knowledge and experience.
Their apparent brand as a bunch of chaotic morons makes so much sense when you think about where they’re all coming from:
Orym is an Ashari, presumably from Zephrah; while he’s a trained fighter and has heard stories of city life, we can assume he’s led a relatively idyllic life, quiet and lawful, surrounded by friends and family and nature, honoring the Voice of the Tempest and the hierarchy of his society. He’s set out to explore firsthand a world that he’s only heard about till now.
Dorian has been quiet about his backstory, but Aabria, less so. When we first meet him and he’s playing his lute, she notes that the curtains fluttering in a phantom breeze “remind you of the tents of your home, the Silken Squall, and you think back to where you started, and that closed-off feeling, that sense of curtains and fabric holding you in and binding you, releases.” She also refers to the other party members as “this strange group of people that’s opened up the world for you.”
Opal refers repeatedly to her excitement at finally getting out of her small town and seeing the world. Her perky ‘valley-girl’ demeanor and nonstop chaos feel like a release of pent-up energy, like a child on her own for the first time, or a prisoner set free. They all have a bit of that energy, though it manifests differently from one to another (with Orym and Opal on opposite ends of the spectrum, perhaps--Orym clinging desperately to those pastoral Ashari morals in the face of big-city corruption, while Opal is ecstatic that she can finally release her id, try new things left and right, and indulge her wildest whims).
Fearne is from the Feywild. Not sheltered or idyllic, exactly, but a very different world with very different rules, where “time is a weird soup” and nature and magic rule supreme. She’s come into a world where her very existence (and Little Mister’s) attract attention, both positive and negative, and doesn’t seem to know what to make of it, though she clearly wants to fit in (repairing the burned-up flowers with Druidcraft, trying to bluff like her new friends by shouting weird lies in a bad Cockney accent). I think that Fearne, more than any of the ExU chaos crew, doesn’t mean to be chaotic; the natural mischief and whimsy of the Feywild just happen to come off that way on the material plain.
And then there’s Dariax, who has been to many taverns; who has already traveled from city to city, drinking and flirting and getting involved in criminal pursuits. Despite being the least intelligent party member, he’s also the most experienced; he’s the one who wakes up drunk on the roof with pee on his spear and doesn’t even question it, the one who tells Orym he has to start screwing people over if he wants to survive. But even Dariax grew up in a small town, and hates being lied to. Even he has the air of someone who hasn’t been rolled quite hard enough by the world to be a savvy adventurer yet.
I feel like, with the possible exceptions of early Jester and early Keyleth, neither the Mighty Nein nor Vox Machina ever displayed this level of naiveté. The ExU crew are a bunch of small-town kids in the big city, bursting out of sheltering and/or stifling fishbowls to find themselves little fish in a very big pond. Of course they come off as total weirdos. Of course they struggle to find a coherent sense of direction or purpose. But they also (I think) cling to each other tighter than either of our previous CR parties did when they first met. Despite some wildly different demeanors and values and goals, there seems to be practically no distrust there, no hostility. Because none of them really understand this world, they all make a heroic effort to understand each other, or at least accommodate each other’s wishes and have each other’s backs. If I hadn’t already used the tag “babes in the wood,” I’d probably use it for them. And it might make for some rocky plot development, but man is it fun to watch.

Okay characters from cr campaign 3 who I don’t necessarily ship but I just really love their dynamic and want to see more of them together whether it’s platonic or romantic (though some of them I feel like it would be weird if it was romantic):
Ashton and Fearne
Laudna and Dorian
Ashton and Laudna
FCG and Fearne
Orym and Imogen (we haven’t seen much of them interacting one on one but the few times they have have been golden)
I honestly love all of them together so much. They’re so chaotic and I love that for them.

Heyyy! Long time to talk. I hope you’re enjoying your summer. I have a question about how you take requests: how specific do you like them? I saw you’re writing for EXU and I already live Orym. I would just like something soft yet funny, but I can request something specific if you’d like? Lmk 💜 thanks
-🐋
Heya! Summer's great. Hope you're enjoying yours. Requests can be as specific or nonspecific as you want them to be. As long as I know which character(s) I'm writing for and have an outline of what you want like you've done here I'm all good! Thank you for requesting and I hope this one's to your liking! 😘
Word had reached you a group of strangers had made it to the settlement of the Fire Ashari outside of Emon, among them the Air Ashari you’d been waiting for. He may have never been to Emon before but you’d met the halfling many times before in Zephrah. You’d spent plenty of time with the Air Ashari in your years but now finally, Orym got the pleasure of experiencing your humble outpost life out here himself. Well, that was the plan anyway. Sometimes plans go down the drain.
When Orym finds out several firetamers were absolutely obliterated leaving only two survivors; clearly not counting you among those two he feared for your wellbeing but much like the Ashari training provided and interactions, one must be in control of their emotions especially in these dire times. Someone would have informed him if you’d suffered an ill fate, right? He hopes so. You had been called back to the Flamereach Outpost months ago because things were spiking up and that did mean you’d be in the thick of it. All hands on deck, hence your premature separation back in Zephrah.
Orym feels wrong to say but he couldn’t be more thankful for that earthquake. Seeing you running head first into unknown danger might not do good on his stress levels but knowing you’re alive, that’s all he needs for now. Not like he and his friends don’t run into danger straight after you. On to the Oh No Plateau.
In the aftermath you were the one to escort this little group of strangers plus Orym back to the outpost. They were already a little worse for wear not used to, deal with or resistant to the ash, dust and poisonous gases, the firetamers unanimously decided it’s best to help these folks down instead of letting them find their own way. You of course volunteered to take on this task and no one was going to object as they got enough from this group to know they’re trouble. Rather you than them.
Taking the lead you answered some of their questions. You have to admit the mentions of the ‘ash-hole’ broke you enough to send you into a laughing fit. The dwarf, Dariax felt quite accomplished as these folks, your folks seem a bit more rigid and reserved, much like Orym in his opinion so it’s good to see not all of them are stuck ups.
Fearne nudged Orym on with a little push in your direction causing him to stumble. You’re dextrous enough to prevent the halfling from bumping into you possibly causing you to fall with him. Instead you catch him before he falls flat on his face. The look the two of you share does not go unnoticed by the faun and is very much revealing in the closer-than-friends kind of way.
Once conferred with Lorkathar they’re left to their own devices and the shitstorm of questions thrown at Orym to figure out who you are; or to some of them more importantly; who you are to him specifically. Orym tries to answer without giving too much of your own personal life away. It’s your life, not his and he doesn’t feel like he that’s his to share with others.
You met him in Zephrah on your journey to learn more, better your druidic skills. Part of this training was physical combat and weapons training. That’s where you grew closer. You weren’t exactly the greatest with a sword and Orym helped you go through training to where you could settle on a spear. Cue the questions about what other physical training you shared with him. Orym did not dignify that with a response. Really any question answered that lead to yet another innuendo made he did not dignify with a response.
There’s a knock on the door the group had been given to recover from the day’s events. The conversation falls silent as another knock raps lightly on the door. Dariax and Opal make eye contact before both rushing towards the door, the pleasure of answering going to whomever gets there first. They’re not sure but they hope its you. They have so little insight in the details of Orym’s life and they’re not going to let the chance fly to get some leverage on the halfling should they need to bring it up in the future if they want to commit another definitely-not-a-crime.
A white haired human dressed in pinks opens the door with a wide smile radiating mischief. You smile back although a little forced, to cover the confusion trying to peak through.
“Hi! You must be the firetamer Orym has told us all about. It’s so nice to meet you. I am Opal.” She grabs your hand and shakes it and you just let it happen. How the hell did Orym get sucked up in this group? They’re worse than you’d thought over your initial encounter. Not in a bad way just a… different one.
“Likewise. It seems like you have me at a disadvantage. You appear to know about me yet I do not know much about you. I don’t mean to be rude but I am looking for Orym, of the Air Ashari…” You exchange pleasantries but are cut off as the woman looks over her shoulder.
“Orym! Orym! Your lover is here to see you!” She screeches for the halfling who was already a few feet behind her, embarrassed this is how you’re properly reunited without the pressure of your respective lives.
“Hey.” Orym smiles through the embarrassment caused by his friends watching the two of you like some sort of play waiting what the characters will do next.
“Hey.” You smile back trying to not put too much mind to the curious company Orym had found himself in. You feel like the more attention you give them, the slimmer your chances at a calm and quiet moment with Orym will become.
“Well, don’t be rude, Orym. Invite your friend in.” Dorian perks up trying to keep the obvious ulterior motives of Opal and Dariax at bay but you weren’t born yesterday.
“I was thinking maybe we could step outside instead? I wouldn’t want to disturb your friends’ evening.” Orym catches on to your intent.
“Yeah. Yeah of course.” He brushes past Opal outside and grabs your hand practically begging you to lead the way before the others decide to keep you here.
“Enjoy your evening.” Fearne, saves your asses before the others can protests. Orym is glad to have the faun on his side and he’s pretty sure this favour granted puts him in her debt but it’ll have been worth it.
“It was nice seeing you all. I’m sure we’ll have more time to grow better acquainted in the future.”
“Have fun on your evening stroll, Orym!” Dariax wiggles his eyebrows and the halfling sends him a look to shut him up as you begin leading him away.
The sun is not yet set casting the outpost and mesa in an orange glow with the view of the city west of you. It’s a beautiful evening. Orym understands why you like sunsets so much. You bask in the rays of ember, a sight Orym hadn’t seen in too long. He hadn’t realised how much he missed this, how much he missed you. You stop at the side of a stone ruined building. You let go of Orym’s hand as you grab onto any footing you can and scale the building onto the roof. It’s only two floors tall so you lean over the edge and look down at Orym.
Getting the memo Orym climbs up following a similar path you had to reach the top. You lay down on the rooftop with a familiar comfort, as if the world’s concerns were left below. Orym had always admired this about you. It’s something he could never do himself. You turn over on your stomach, lean your elbows on the rooftop, head on your hands with a grin as you cross your legs behind you. He knows that look.
“So how does it feel being the most responsible individual among the chaos?” Orym pulls himself onto the rooftop and gives you a look. As he walks over to you he hooks his leg around your elbow and yanks making you lose your balance. You gasp and roll back over to your back supporting yourself on your elbows.
“Rude!” You laugh as Orym sits down next to you. Shoulders leaning against each other you watch the sunset. It’s a habit you had fallen into in Zephrah and it’s a habit picked back up again even after many months apart.
“I missed you.” Orym presses a kiss to the top of your shoulder.
“Missed you too.” You sigh content you’re back together once more, no matter how brief that might be as Orym and his little group of adventurers has been sent on another task to find Gilmore. You’d join if you could but you have your responsibilities here and Orym knows that like no other. Once this is all behind you things can finally go back to normal and you actually get to spend more time together without the world burning down whenever you turn your back.
“So how is it you of all people end up with this bunch of chaos bringers?” You laugh. You may not know his friends personally nor did you have much to go off in your brief interactions with them but you know well enough they’re trouble and chaos magnets. Orym, having an air of peace and calm around him shifts quickly to panic in stressful situations he doesn’t know how to navigate based on instinct and here he is navigating Emon of all places with them, getting involved in all sorts of conflict.
“Me of all people?” Orym feigns offence but he’s well aware you’re right. He’s not even sure himself how this weird little dynamic they have going works. He gives it a thought.
“Maybe I just naturally gravitate towards chaos. You are a testament of that.” Your jaw drops. Your halfling’s found himself with a new kind of boldness to him previously hidden beneath layers of Ashari customs. He may not realise it just yet himself but these people have a good effect on him.
“Are you calling me chaotic, Orym of the Air Ashari?”
“I’m sorry, but you really expect me to answer that question? You are chaos incarnate.” He laughs and you let yourself drop back, the halfling previously leaning his weight against you loses his balance and falls onto your stomach. You put your hands beneath your head watching the orange glow reflected off the clouds with a smile.
“You know what, I will take that as a compliment. Someone needs to bring a little chaos into your life. I’m glad I’m not the only one able to fulfil that task. They seem like good people.”
“They stole a vestige, broke into places and killed the henchmen of some criminal organisation all within the past twenty four hours.” Orym deadpans. He’s still a tad unsure how to feel about it.
“And you went along with it. Maybe one day you’ll be as much as a chaos incarnate as the rest of us.” Orym’s fingers lace with yours as he holds onto your hand.
“It’ll be the day the elemental chaos seeps through into this world.”
“Who says it doesn’t already. Embrace the chaos, Orym.” You wave your free hand making a cloud of embers appear above you like fireflies and make them dance in the wind. He’s already embraced the chaos and he knows it. It started with you but has extended to his new friends as well. Though, he’ll have to admit, he’ll take your chaos over theirs any day if presented with the choice. No matter. He’ll take any moment with you he can get now and be patient until you’re reunited in the future. There’s still adventures to be had, just for now your paths diverge. They’ll reconnect in the nearby future. He’s sure of it. You’re sure of it.

It's early, but thinking about my favorite new characters for Campaign 3
Laudna is like a song that at first you don't immediately click with, but as you listen, you fall in love with it. I adore her scary-goth vibe, but her kind heart is very winning. Also I am so excited to not get her backstory for like, a year.
Ashton is going to be exciting to watch. I think Taliesin would have used 'they' pronouns for his characters sooner if he felt comfortable with it (Molly, for example, would have likely used 'They' if campaign 2 was happening now.) But I'm glad to see Taliesin playing another Matt Mercer homebrew subclass, and I'm ready to watch Ashton become everyone's favorite.
It's possible Robbie is only a guest for a few episodes, but I really hope he stays. Dorian was my favorite in EXU and now I really want to see further developments of the runaway Air Genasi Prince. HE'S GOT TIME TO SPILL SOME BACKSTORY IF HE STICKS AROUND!
Liam, I really hope he's keeping Orym for this whole campaign because he really seems to be jazzed about playing Orym. I loved him in EXU, I am ready to continue loving him in C3!!!
Fearne is Ashley's chaotic weirdness she's always wanted to be, and I am so here for it. So glad Ashley gets to be here for the entire campaign!!! And it's her turn to have the pet/be the animals playing Druid.
FCG--Sam probably has DEPTHS planned for this little guy. Looking forward to more of them. :D
Bertrand--Will Travis keep him? Or is it just Travis trolling us for a bit before bringing in his actual character? Now Travis has time to give him a bit more depth outside of a one-shot (rather, two one-shots). The potential for Bertrand is actually fascinating, and will be the character to watch.
Imogen--Not enough of her was happening for me to get a handle of what's her deal, but I look forward to more of her. :D
