Unsurprisingly I am very much against the "the curtains are just blue" mentality, but, moderation in all things; I think people can get way too hung up on one minor symbolic detail that is never explored elsewhere in the text or given more solid form. Are these characters a battle couple or are they just fighting in the same frame? Are the curtains being blue reflecting the themes of water and change and freedom, or was that a totally different work you imprinted on five years ago and in this story it's about the cold rigidity of ice? Is this subtext consistent, with a throughline throughout the story, or are you clinging to a single line amid twenty others that make a very different point?

can't stop thinking about how in dmc jack treated james like a dog (whistling when he wanted him to start digging for the chest, the deleted scenes with giving him the other shovel to carry + having him clean his boot) and james takes it first because of wanting to stay by elizabeth but then because he was waiting for his moment to take the letters of marque + either the compass or chest and get his life back

I was afraid the police questioning was going to lead to death and I'm sadly not as surprised as I should be over Lee Sunkyun's death. I don't care what he was accused of (let's not forget that he tested negative for everything! And that this all happened based on a RUMOR. A RUMOR. By a notoriously unreliable source. But is this surprising? The police never do anything properly because they're the police); it isn't anything that should condemn a man to the witch hunt he went through.

If you're not familiar with how the witch hunts run in Korea, just know that it isn't a simple matter of being brought in for questioning (if there's actual official action taken) or being the subject of gossip (if it's society deciding your fate). You're essentially subjected to such horrific treatment that it's no surprise that people break down mentally. It happens all the time. It's making me want to smash things because media outlets are being vague about his death so everyone online is like "Oh, that's so sad that he was depressed. You never know who needs help" or "People who are struggling with depression should get support." He wasn't depressed! This was a man driven to suicide because the government, police, and media basically made him feel like he had no future.

#if you don't know how insane korean culture is about this...it's easy to read up on it #thank god jiyong made it through this but i was worried that he or lee sunkyun would be mentally impacted #lee sunkyun was brought in for questioning multiple times and the last time was THIS CHRISTMAS WEEKEND #he should have been spending that time with family and instead he was subjected to 19 hours of police interrogation.
