This quote from Goncharov (1973) in relation to soukoku has been haunting me from before I even got to that scene in the anime (the full thing is: Katya- Of course we're in love, that's why I tried to shoot you/ Goncharov- If we really were in love you wouldn't have missed). Violence as a tool for communicating emotions, especially love and hatred, especially love and hatred makes me go feral- how could I not think of the iconic quote that says that katya's miss was a sign of a lack of love/a fake love when chuuya didn't miss? Just... losing it over here.

i just think it's crazy that there wasn't like. a cutscene or something that showed off raphael's cool magical girl transformation sequence cause his ascended fiend form looks sick as hell

#sorry i saw someone say sonic and tails dont see eachother as family at all again and it annoyed me #this isnt even all of the times theyve said it this is just a bunch of stuff i remembered off the top of my head #and also sonic has called tails little bro SO many times across different media that it would be impossible to track them all down #but i tried to include stuff from different media to show that this isnt a thing thats exclusive to one continuity or one period of time #because those are arguments i see people use to prove theyre not brothers #but even if it WAS something that is mentioned a lot in earlier sonic media and not so much in recent stuff.#not mentioning something as often anymore doesnt automatically make it non canon?? especially if theres no new info contradicting it #sonic frontiers spoilers #the sage picture probably looks irrelevant to people who havent played frontiers #but she was talking about sonic and tails there which is why i included it #also i put that aosth clip instead of screenshots from it because i didnt think a couple screenshots would do it justice #you really have to see the whole thing

I don't think most people realize just how absolutely gorgeous the backgrounds are in blue eye samurai, and I don't just mean the big shots of a city or a forest. Episode 7 especially is choke-full of tiny details all over the place that are never the focus of the scene so they don't get noticed.

I mean look at this

Have you seen how intricate that instrument is? And we don't even get a full shot of it

The boxes in the background too!! Some of them have unique patterns that didn't even get used in other assets (I'd know, I've been obsessively collecting screenshots of background details LMAO)

And my god, the wall drawings are GORGEOUS. There was another one like this in episode 1 that I barely paid any attention to when I first watched this show

It's not just the backgrounds, even tiny items and furniture have the most beautiful patterns and drawings. SO much effort went into making this world and so much of it doesn't receive enough appreciation.

I really hope the studio behind bes gets to release an artbook where they show stuff like this, they deserve it!!

the really interesting thing about mortys fear of relying on rick is that it really does go both ways. like as much as hes afraid of needing rick... rick needs him just as much, if not more. and i think this ties into mortys fear of having to be responsible for ricks sadness.

there are SO many times where morty threatens to leave rick... just as rick constantly reminds morty that he can be replaced.

the difference is that morty COULD leave rick behind if he really wanted to. and he could probably be okay without him. but hell always come back to rick... because thats how hes meant to be. a mortys defining trait is how he will always put rick and his emotions first.

we can see this in evil morty and how he was able to escape the cycle simply by no longer caring about ricks feelings. what makes him different isnt being evil... its simply no longer prioritising the feelings of rick over his own.

like how many times do we see morty choosing to stay with rick despite everything rick puts him through? and i think this is partly where his forgiveness comes from. of course he does truly love rick and that plays into it, but hes also terrified of what might happen without him there to fall back on.

any time rick feels he might lose morty he spirals and lashes out in some weird manipulative way to keep morty reliant on him (which is ironically the very thing morty fears most).

and whenever he DOES lose morty for any amount of time he turns into a complete wreck. probably part of the fear of his own reliance on rick comes from knowing its largely manufactured by rick and not fully his own choice.

even WITH morty there to support him rick is incredibly prone to suicidal ideation and self destructive tendencies. its not hard to work out what would happen if morty was no longer around to cater to his emotions.

so he stays. of course its awful for him. but he does it. hes willing to sacrifice himself and his own emotions to save rick over and over again. because he knows what will happen if he doesnt.
