It's a favorite nickname of some kids I don't always get along with, unfortunately... these stupid jerks who are still caught up on stuff that happened a really long time ago. They don't like my family— Dad and Miss Sectonia especially, so they don't like me either. It's dumb 'cause all the things they're angry about are things that happened before we were even born. But their parents have told them all about it, and now they're mad even though it never affected any of them. I... hear a lot about how my dad really hurt people or is responsible for all of the current issues in Floralia. They call them awful people, and it's not accurate at all! Dad and Miss Sectonia didn't mean to harm anyone. Dad just loved too much, and Miss Sectonia was sick. I don't meet people who dislike my mom as often 'cause of where I live, but it's the same for her. She's not evil! She was just desperate! Granddad, too! ...It's okay, though. I try not to let their words get to me. I know they're just imbeciles. So it's not like I'll let them affect how I see myself or the people I love. Yeeeeahhh. Unfortunately it just kind of comes with the territory of being the daughter of two war criminals. Taranza in particular kind of helped Sectonia ravage Floralia, which is where Peony lives. The kids around her have heard a lot of stories about their parents being traumatized or haven't been able to meet certain family members of theirs because said family members were killed during the tyranny. Lots of anger and sadness regarding that.

Not that that excuses them taking it out on Peony. Being mad at Taranza, sure, but Peony didn't do anything. Like she said: she wasn't even born at the time! But Taranza's not someone these kids feel they can lash out at (...in fact, they're kind of scared of him), so they aim at the next best thing: his innocent daughter, and that's where it crosses over into just being cruel.

It's okay, though. Like Peony said, she's coping. Truthfully, half of the time she just has her guardian angel taze these people to scare them off. Doesn't make it any less of a pain, though.

It’s very crazy to me that anyone, regardless who they “support” during the dance, would like viserys. And yeah, I do say this specifically for the people who like Rhaenyra’s character yet champion viserys as this feminist girl dad who loved her no matter what. Both the book and show versions set Rhaenyra up to fail. And probably through watching her dad be incompetent, Rhaenyra put a nail in her own coffin by being so flippant and reactive versus proactive about everything.

Viserys killed Aemma for heirs, leaving Rhaenyra motherless and scared for the future. He married her best friend and first love, maritally r*ped Alicent, and produced more heirs knowing the strife that would follow. He never shored up Rhaenyra’s claim properly. He let her get away with mistake after mistake bc his own guilt ate him alive. When I call Viserys stupid, I do not mean in the traditional sense. He makes horribly decisions but he is fully aware of what he is doing. Viserys was smart enough to know what he was doing when it came to harming Aemma. He was smart enough to know what he was doing when he continued to let Daemon come back despite his behavior. He was smart enough to know what he was doing when he married a 15 year old. He was smart enough to know that he what he was doing when he neglected Alicent and children he forced her to have. He was smart enough to know what he was doing when he named Rhaenyra heir (out of spite and guilt mind you), and then ignored her.

I think a lot of people let their blind hatred towards Alicent lead to them defending people who objectively don’t even have Rhaenyra’s best interest at hand. Viserys is the reason everything went to shit for Rhaenyra.

ROSE QUARTZ/PINK DIAMOND GOT DONE DIRTY BY THE SU FANDOM, AND THE SHOW ITSELF

Quick disclaimer: I will admit, upfront, that part of the reason I’m even making a vent post of ANY kind of all is because I’m just not in a good place right now in general, and I just need to scream at something. That being said, that doesn’t make my feelings towards this any less real.

I’ve already talked about this a couple times before in the past, but I really do, legitimately, hate the treatment Rose/Pink got in the later parts of Steven Universe, both the main series and Future.

Look, I almost feel that it could have been a good thing in a way, since Rose was kind of put on a pedestal for most of the show’s first half, and seeing as how the series was about Steven discovering himself, and trying to step out from his mother’s shadow, I feel like, if this was handled better, it could have probably been really good.

But dang, this was NOT the way to do it.

Did Pink Diamond, both as herself and in her guise of Rose Quartz, do awful things? Absolutely.

She hurt her Pearl.

She abandoned Spinel.

She made impulsive, and even selfish, decisions.

But she also turned against her fellow Diamonds, her FAMILY, to protect the earth.

She faked her own shattering so she could keep fighting for the same planet she was originally meant to colonize.

She looked after others and cared for life, both human and gem.

Pink did a LOT wrong, but neither her past actions from when she was still a Diamond, or the mistakes she made as Rose Quartz, change the fact that she spent the entire rest of her existence trying to do good, to change, and become a better person.

And it really DOES strike a chord with me that the fandom, and even the SHOW ITSELF, act like she’s some horrible reprehensible villain especially since it seems to ring very true for how some treat people in the real world who used to do/say some not-so-great things, even if it’s been literal years since then, and they’re genuinely different people from who they were back then. Yeah...it kind of hits just a bit close to home for me...

It just doesn’t sit well with me that someone like WHITE DIAMOND can be forgiven, while Pink, the one Diamond who dared to turn against Homeworld and fight to protect the life of a planet that wasn’t hers, is the universally-agreed upon hated character.

Whether her reasons were ultimately altruistic or selfish, that doesn’t change the fact that she protected the earth and cared for the people she came to love, the best she could, until the day she gave up her physical form.

TL; DR: PINK DIAMOND WAS A VERY FLAWED, BUT ULTIMATELY NUANCED AND HUMAN CHARACTER, AND I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THE SU FANDOM, OR THE SHOW ITSELF, FOR TREATING HER LIKE A MONSTER WHEN SHE WASN’T.

... not to be annoying or whatever but I hate the take that Rick loved Diane more than Beth as the reason why we never see another Diane vs living with Beth ... because the love for a significant other and the love for a child is and should be different. The way I see it, obviously Rick loves his Diane and Beth a lot but his relationship to Diane as a husband is a deeply personal one that is specific only to that particular Diane. They have a history: dating, marriage, sharing a child, etc. Rick's feelings to and experiences with that particular Diane wouldn't be the same with any other (even if they share similarities). It's the same reason why he stated that he wouldn't just replace Birdperson ---  they both have specific ties to him that wouldn't be the same as is often true with a love interest (often times shared personal experiences increase those bonds). 

Another Diane could be dead, or remarried, or not into him, or just not the same. A different Diane is not necessarily the same as this Rick's wife.

In contrast, Rick's relationship to his original Beth was still relatively new in comparison to other relationships (i.e. Diane) since she died as a young child. However, (whether she likes it or not) Beth is ALWAYS Rick Sanchez's daughter. Since, their rapport isn't as strong it is easier for Rick to attempt to assimilate into another Beth's life. It is an objective truth that Rick is Beth's father, and thus it is the relationship that is easier to 'replace'. But that doesn't mean that he loves one more than the other as there are incomparable relationships. 

Rick's love for his wife is tied to HIS wife specifically and his love for his daughter is tied to her identity as his daughter which is a constant. Both is equally good and valid.

I know its not about whether the art is Real and Human or If It Has A Soul and how a lot of the arguments against it are the same bullshit arguments people made against digital art like I Know. I Knowwww. but god, I'm really sorry, not to post like one of those annoying poetry bloggers I cant stand (yall are valid, live your truth, theres nothing wrong with what you post I'm just a petty bitch who hates poetry. unless I dont hate it.)

But theres just something about the way AI art will almost certainly never be able to mimic the exact way my pencil leaves an indentation in the paper, the way some of the lines I can never fully erase cause I pressed too hard, theyll have to at least train them to draw with a physical pencil first, and sure, they could train it to draw with a pencil and even erase the exact same piece I drew, line for line, on a piece of paper with a robot arm powered by AI, but they can't replicate. idk. the lineage of lefty bitches in my family, and the way I grew up going through school with my entire left arm silver with graphite, from doodling on my schoolwork. not yet anyway. but I guess I do live for the day we make the ai sentient enough that we can traumatize it by giving it homework after kneecapping its executive functions so it copes by drawing a big tiddy lobster monster. sure

I think what is missing with 4-sided Dive that Talks Machina had was a third party to have those character discussions with. It's not the same with a fellow PC. Also someone with interviewing abilities, sometimes I feel like they meander so much.

And I do like to watch them talk, I do watch old episodes of AWNP, fireside chat, etc, but for discussing the game/campaign I think the mechanics of it muddles with the flow.

I personally feel no value is added from the tower of inquiry or the cup questions, though I don't mind the game playing at the end since at this point who had their curiosity satisfied can simply leave, but answering while playing which they tried doing at least once I watched didn't work at all.

Edit: Btw when I say no value is added I mean the format (being in a cup, pulling from the tower) and not the questions themselves.

I fully get it #and it made me feel so much better #my relationship with Nina the work of a lifetime because the moments of mutual understanding are so rare #but so powerful when they happen. and it takes years to discover that sudden gold #(my mom is often so troubled by our relationship. she’s just like (whisper voice): do you guys even like each other) #because we’re just SO sparks fly (antagonistic version) in many of our interactions #and it’s just like. YEAH. We’re just going to have an intense altercation and clashing of opinions viewpoints values and perspectives #at least every other day. LOL #but we will navigate it! #no one on the planet I smooth things over with as fast as Nina. it is lightning-speed reconciliation #because we both move on so quickly in the same way. in that the mood will just lift #we got in a fight the other day. Nina left and stormed out. 10 minutes later I get a text going #‘I’m sorry Maria. I should not have said that about your mother’ #which made me laugh because we weren’t fighting about our mom. She just likes to quote Jacqueline from ever after sometimes out of context #and my mom was on the couch watching me like ‘you’re reconciled???? It’s over?????????’ #because my mom a) is so different from both of us in the speed she processes in and b) has no sisters #0 sisters. 4 daughters. and she still isn’t used to it lol. because my mom’s strength and weakness is that she never gets used to anything! #ALSO Nina told me the other day that I’m the one that taught her to apologize because I would just make her do it when we were kids #not to me but to other people! I would just sit there and explain how verbal acknowledgement of wrongdoing would make things better #and she was always like ‘ughhh I hate it so much. FINE’ because she always does want to make things better #anyway this SHOOK ME TO MY CORE. Because I never thought Nina actually internalized any of the things I’ve said to her ever lol #and she was like ‘yeah you gave me that good habit’ #(I love apologizing. Love to put it into words and I have an intense need to do it immediately and thoroughly) #(tbh it’s only with time that I’ve come to see that other people do not work that way. and need more time. and are not just — #instantly comfortable putting everything into words especially the hard things) #(because it’s not like I’m always driven by more charity and compunction. I just ducking HATE unresolved things not put into words) #(so it helps me feel better. and sometimes you just gotta learn to not say it right away if it’s only going to make things worse #(or learn to say it in different way without words. that actually communicates the sorrow. And that can sometimes look like giving space!)
