Hmm... honestly? I think it fits other characters much better!

Man Who Sold The World always reads to me as like... a dangerous character, could be a demon, could be an evil parent, could be a more literal villain in some kind of story, who has unambiguously gotten its ass kicked and banished. In its defeat, it realizes that it can turn it around; by trying to convince one of their Victims to join them.

And succeeding.

(and it's why Nirvana's version is my favorite, Cobain's voice is just the right amount of hoarse that makes me feel like the Victim Character has lost a lot of sleep over it. Vulnerable and open to the offer of the Villain, possibly on the brink of desperation in their own life. It has that sort of angsty-young-adult madness that makes choosing bad decisions sooo much easier. Bowie's and Ure's versions are also fantastic, but imo they're a lot more dreamlike, like the victim is being more entranced than convinced!)

The song isn't about breaking out of that cycle. It's about "laughing and shaking his hand," returning home almost unaware of any change. But over many years, in tiny little ways that add up into even bigger ones, slowly the Victim becomes another man who sold the world.

They doesn't even realize when they died alone along their quest, just that it must have been long, long ago.

Some of that fits Fallenleaf, but it's not quite the same vibe. She killed Ashfur in revenge. She sought out Sol and took his deal for power, and tried to kill her own brother. She subjugated an entire Ancient Lake society-- and the only thing she can really blame Sol for is how it got bored of her and kicked her out of her own body.

Those were things she did. And they're things she lives with. Trickery was less a part of it than she might have wanted to believe at some point in her long, guilty life.

NATURALLY I'm inspired by Cheecat's really great animation they made with Brambleclaw and Tigerstar, and I think it fits Tigerstar to a T, but who I always think of is Hawkfrost.

Especially in BB, where RiverClan raised him to lean into his legacy. Not Clanborn, from a young age he had to work twice as hard, prove that he and his sister were "worth" keeping around, told that they were only protected by that diluted Tigerkin blood that trickles through their veins and that Tigerstar was an ideal to live up to...

Only the thinnest veneers of, "Be what he was, without his flaws" to hold him back from fully adopting everything his father ever stood for. A father he never met, who hurt his mother, who killed and traumatized countless clanmates.

And then Hawkfrost sees him. The song kicks in. "I thought you died alone, a long long time ago."

"Not me. I never lost control." It means that those "flaws," they weren't so bad. "You're face to face with the man who sold the world" and I can teach you the value of that.

He leaves that exchange feeling warm. "I laughed and shook his hand." He goes through the destruction of the forest (looking for form), the great journey (and land), and eventually finds himself in all the conflicts of TNP. No one knows at what point he stopped being the noble young warrior who stood up for Reedpaw against his tormenters, or when wanting to protect his sister became abuse and belittling.

But at some point, he died alone, long before his heart stopped beating on that stake.

He ends up in the Dark Forest with his father, preparing for the change that's coming in OotS, but not by the end of the song. At the end of the song his father has successfully dragged him down to his level, singing the same tune, trying to pretend that his dad getting him pointlessly shish-kebabed for a petty personal dispute wasn't a critical L to the chest.

Favorite thing about them: HE JUST SO CUTE! I'm a sucker for characters who appear one way but then completely take you off guard. Robin looks like your typical grunting simple caveman but then reveals himself to be the kindest, wisest, most mentally tortured character in the show. Add to that he's basically a human pupper. My previous blorbos (Thirteen, Arthur Morgan, Spike) have all had "Kitty!" vibes but Robin is pure Pupper.

Least favorting thing about them: That he didn't get to move on. :( The show was really playing into how desperately he wanted to go by the end. I was even certain that as soon as he felt "Christmassy" he would get to leave but it didn't happen. Let him rest! Also the incest...Just ew.

Favourite line: "She no porcupine!" / "I want my lawyer." / "Before you was moonah, before house was moonah, everything come, everything go, but always there, moonah." / "I miss a lot of people. But more come along."

Brotp: Canon is him and Julian. Chess husbands are so real, but queerplatonic imo. Fanon is him and Alison, he is her good boy.

OTP: I'm like the only person who actually thinks him and Mary were cute? Gremlin couple ftw. But really Robin/Mary/Annie is my favourite polyship and the only one I've actually written fic for so far.

Notp: Pretty much everyone except Mary, Annie, Julian and possibly Thomas.

Random headcanon: His whole going mad thing from the book is still an ongoing problem. He has more coping mechanisms now but still has bad 'spells', some of the ghosts help him through it but others have become so used to him just "being strange" they just ignore him and wait for it to pass like in Not Again.

Unpopular opinion: I think he was a good dad. For the time. For a man who had thirty kids and most of them probably with his sister. The way he talks about the importance of "raising children together, in peace and love" and watches over his animal friends when they have babies, how sweet he was putting Kitty to sleep, he seems to love just being around kids. I dunno if that's unpopular, it just always seems to be Pat or Cap who get talked about when it comes to dads and my boy was over here fathering future generations, as well as putting the work in to raise said kids - but he often gets passed off as too immature or uncaring, like forgetting the whole duality of his character and how he's never as simple as he appears to be. Like sure he probably picked those babies up by their ankles and carried them on his shoulders, but he never dropped them!

Thinking about the fab fours music.. the mad gear ep was mcr playing as the band from the dd universe but in fics and stuff we usually make mad gear a batshit killjoy frontman which,, definitely has gerard vibes but any descriptions of him I've seen are different.

But anyway personal headcannons, the fab four would sound like the mad gear ep/conventional weapons/danger days if they had a band obviously. But solo projects?? This is where things get creative.

Party Poison would still write hesitant alien. But they'd also cover shit like I Know How To Party by the Dollyrots that would be very slutty and make a verison of Cherry Bomb that sounds like the recording came from an irradiated cd.

Jet Star would hand out mixtapes of dad rock and hes always dropping off his latest experimentations in folk punk at Doctor D's. He'd write something like the song Card Declined for Pizza & Wine by Stevie Dinner. He'd also play guitar for this weird killjoy going by Bowie.

Kobra is such a dubstep sort of guy. I like to think he'd write something like Anarchy!!! By Stomach Book. Like with the voice and all. Funky vocal effects so that the fact its him is unrecognizable when you hear it on the radio. He wouldn't play it live but he would dj some zone raves.

Electric century would exist but maybe its Kobra and Jet. The two of them would also get together and write an album of songs solely about the Phoenix Witch. The genre of such is to be determined.

Fun Ghoul is all over the place. Leathermouth would still exist and sound exactly the same except it'd have a few extra songs about BLI. Pency Prep existed when he was teenager and still in Battey City. He played a handful of shows in the slums. He only has one copy of the cassette because he shoved it in his boot when he escaped. He has yet to make copies of it

Stomachaches, Parachutes, Barriers and the rest of that stuff would probably still exist too, but won't be written until he's older. (Except for his whorish songs like Medecine Square Garden, some of those would exist already.)

Bloodnun would definitely exist and it would have come into existence so randomly, like a handful of killjoys walked up to him and was like hey want to scream on this track?? And they just made a whole album. Black metal Fun Ghoul is real and can hurt you.

But right now hes in his Death Spells phase, Nothing Above, Nothing Below would exist but maybe there'd be more by the band or he'd make more stuff with a similar sound on his own. Go listen to Coul as a Ghoul by the Voidz. When I heard this song I was like. I like this it sorta has death spells vibes?? And then I heard the lyrics and I was in a danger days headspace so I was like. Bro Fun Ghoul would so write this. Hence, mentioning it in this post.

Nichelle as Garnet is a cool idea I agree, like if Nichelle was a girlboss instead of a girlloser lmao. But there’s also a different way we could go about this; Make one character Ruby, one character Sapphire, and make a literal fusion of both be Garnet, I think that’d be really cool and If so I propose either Raj (Ruby) and Bowie (Sapphire) or Axel (Ruby) and Nichelle (Sapphire)

So I remembered about the “do it for her” song I and imagined the possibility of Millie as Connie and Priya as Pearl, seeing as Priya trained Millie in the show like Pearl trained Connie. But something I think would be interesting though too is Millie as Pearl, idk why but like it makes sense in my head.

Idk why but I Can very clearly imagine Julia as Peridot, Nichelle as Lapis, and Axel as Bismuth, opinions?

I also think there’s high potential for Emma to be part of this AU somewhere, I just can’t immediately tell what character she’d be. Emma as Sadie could be neat! Which I guess would make Chase Lars? But like I want her to have a bigger role in this au though because she deserves it.

I'm not sure I've developed any recent musical obsessions. Finding a song that really gets in me like that is like catching lightning in a bottle, it just doesn't happen easily. The other day Fab Tool (Carpenter Brut + David Eugene Edwards) was playing and I was once again struck dumb by how incredible it is that two artists from notably different genres who are yet both associated with the same god in my mind somehow managed to make a song together, and what a song, too! The way those roads converged, just for me*... man.

This annoyed me so much I had to write this out to understand it. Take the Crown lists each characters bestie and their enemy, real pissed they didn't use worstie btw, but for the life of me some didn't make sense. So I wrote this out and sourced all of it. Enjoy!

Axel: Bestie is Scary Girl, Enemy is Chase. I'm assuming the reason Scary Girl is her bestie is because she ate Axel's squirrel meat? And I assume Chase is her enemy because he didn't eat her squirrel meat. I don't know why everything in her life is dictated by squirrel meat but honestly go off queen.

Bowie: Bestie is Emma, Enemy is Zee. Emma is obvious, his closest ally, but Zee?? I'm going to say for the alliance stuff, but it's super weird his enemy isn't Julia. Maybe he appreciates the hustle.

Caleb: Bestie is Nichelle, Enemy is Bowie. Bowie's obviously his enemy for getting him voted off immediately, I'm going to say his bestie is Nichelle because they have a similar vibe?

Chase: Bestie is Emma, Enemy is Axel. He needs to move on from Emma so badly. Axel, I assume is because he doesn't like eating squirrels? A lot of Axel's relationship stuff is built off the squirrel eating scene.

Jack: Crank it Up - Joey Valance and Brae. Specifically for the lyrics “I always wipe twice for good measure/One for business and one for pleasure” I think he would absolutely hate this song and it would piss him off that I like it so much.

Daniel: Jiggle Jiggle - Louis Theroux, Duke & Jones because I just think he’d really hate it but he would have it stuck in his head for weeks and it would make him extremely mad.

Sam: Oops - Young Gravy. It’s so fucking sexist I think Sam would actually combust.

Sha’re: I would play her You Are A Pirate but the Alestorm version. I don’t think it would annoy her but I think it would be a jarring experience for her. She would also not know what a pirate is and I when I explained piracy to her she would lose her mind.

Ba’al: I would play him Bubble Pop Electric by Gwen Stefani to annoy him but it would backfire. I think he’d end up a Gwen Stefani stan and play it while committing intergalactic war crimes.

Rodney McKay: I feel like he would really hate Party Rock Anthem. No real thought behind this, just vibes. Alternatively I would play the Big Bang Theory them song every time he started talking but like restart it every time he’d pause and start again.

Finally, finally had time to listen to Rush! entirely. And I'm very, very happy with what they've given us. I won't compare it to the previous albums, because I think we can all agree that's not a fair comparison. Anyone who was expecting/hoping for IBDL or TDI again has been living under a rock.

Spewing out some thoughts in no particular order.

This album was clearly made for international/US markets. I don't think that's a bad thing. I can only speak for Belgium, but they have more or less become a mainstream band here and this is album sounds like a mainstream band.

I will never understand why Supermodel was the first single because it is in my opinion the weakest song on the album. I personally would not have picked Gossip as a single either, even though I like this way better than Supermodel. Though I understand the reasoning, especially since it's their feature with Tom Morello. Just think there are better songs on the album.

Love the flow of the album. The Loneliest is a good note to end on and I think it's interesting how they follow they follow up love songs with negative feelings (Bla bla blah after timezone and Read Your Diary after If Not For You).

I was a bit worried about the variety of sounds on this album, but I actually ended up really like the mix.

Wanna give a big shout out to THOMAS FREAKING RAGGI! It's amazing how much he has progressed over time and how he's not afraid to be front and center and kick ass at it on this album.

Kool Kids... I wasn't a fan at all when I heard the live version. Now hearing this version... It's less bad than I expected, but still not a fan. I don't get the fake British accent and it's just not for me.

The Italian trio? ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I honestly was not expecting Mark Chapman to be in Italian, but I'm happy it is. I'm not mad the majority of the album is in English, cause it's still good and I get why this is the case. But I do hope they'll never completely stop doing Italian songs.

Read Your Diary. Some people need to listen to this and really listen to this and understand. That's all I'll say about that one, it gets all my love.

Don't Wanna Sleep is... again, it's not super bad, but far from my favorite.

Timezone and If Not For You. Ballads are a soft spot for me, but god, I need to find me someone who writes me a love song like this. I cringed a bit over the 'I'm fucking you tonight' line cause it feels so out of place, but in general just lots and lots of swooning.

Own My Mind is the perfect opener and it slays! I hope to get to hear it live soon!

Bla bla bla and Feel made me grin so much. They obviously aren't the most elaborate songs, but they are very Måneskin and fun to me. Baby Said is in the same ball park but better. I have questions that I won't get into, but I'll say I feel it's super catchy and makes me smile big time.

I love how I feel so many references in this album. Both lyrically (Bowie, Beatles, Michael Jackson, ...) but also musically. I'm getting late 90s, early 2000's rock vibes and I fell in love with music as a young teen in that era, so I love the overall sound of this album.

And that's all for now folks. I'm just a very happy camper and very excited to finally see them live in less than a month and a half.

But about Cheryl and Richard.

Cheryl is a vampire, as I said, and they have red hair and a mullet and they look. A suspicious lot like David Bowie in my head but it is what it is. They are absolutely pathetic and they're so hot they make everyone question their sexuality. And gender. They suck people's blood with such a cute little smile that people can't even be mad at them about it. They are an asshole they have big dick energy they seem more powerful than everyone ever they are a bottom they haven't had a thought in their entire life-

And Richard is of course smitten with them. He hasn't done a single exciting or weird thing in his life other than having a relationship with an Actual Vampire. He's the type of guy you see in the grocery store looking at cat food with a look in his eyes that says "I haven't done a single weird thing in my entire life I love my parents also I have a cat ask me about my cat". He got all the good grades when he was a child. He's nice to his neighbours. He goes to sleep at 10 pm and wakes up just in time for his Boring Normal Guy Job™. And his boyfriend is a vampire who sucks his blood to show affection and he gets tangled up with the aforementioned demon and other demons and the crazed priest and like idk other bizarre bullshit I'm really just gonna bullshit my way through this really. And I am obsessed with them they're my shiny new dumb fucks.

But just because they are amusing does not mean they are spared from angst. Oh my, they most definitely are not. Hueheheehhehueh.

Then, Pretty. Odd. obviously  because All Night In Your Garden is a twisted fairytale above all (and Pretty. Odd. came out in 2008!!!! Amy "released" ANIYG in 2009!!!!!)

Sonically it's... everything... All of the songs sound like multiple songs stringed together, assuring that you get the illusion of an infinite track long album. [All Night In Your Garden (the song) is the best example of this)]  She keeps mixing Joni Mitchell with Paramore, you know, she's always interrupting her own songs, it's the equivalent of bursting into somebody's room uninvited or crashing a party, but... vampire!Cinderella energy. And it's vacuumed, the sound, it's like I Have Friends In Holy Spaces or this version of Perfect Day (*exclaiming with stars in my eyes* -> it's so... cursed!!!!!!!), she's always calling out from a radio, the whole album is stuck so there are sound samples of Madness and Mayhem in Cry, Trojans, Cry!, because the repetitive element is a MUST. But she makes the album art herself and she... changes things about it on purpose as a metaphorical escape door of sorts... This isn't time vortex appropriate because the song I'm about to mention came out in 2021, but 91 by Bleachers is... definitely the right vibe for this album ("I'm here but I'm not, just like you I can't leave")... Mommy Issues Cameos are all over the place (the song is very The Girl Who Tore Through The Universe) + the band does something that is soooo Amy to me and that's intentionally reinventing the sound of their songs without changing the lyrics, so every time they perform you hear a brand new song with a familiar lyrics. (this is how some of Amy's bonus tracks work)

Basic About:

In a flash of fireworks and a boom of upbeat classic pop and glam rock, a normal outing to work or the bank becomes an involuntary flash mob. Joy is all that fills your head as your muscles respond only to The Beat. Distantly, you can feel and hear people trying to get through, trying to stop this feeling, but all you can do is close your eyes and move to the rhythm. As the dopamine crashes, the music gone and the authorities in a panic to find out what happened, you can only sit and wonder the same thing.

The government isn’t sure what Rocky is or how he manages to create a flash mob wherever he goes as a cover for his escape, but the answer is much more simple than their theories of “a trickster god made mortal” or “the result of yet another vat-related incident”.

Rocky is a chemist, a sort of Musical Mad Scientist who specializes in a homemade concoction he calls “The Beat”. An overwhelming flood of dopamine and endorphins that makes your body respond to rhythm, before ending in harsh lows after it passes (which takes about a half hour).

But recently, he has taken on a slightly different routine: Using his vast connections to the criminal underground network to help the Hero Corps catch a villain that has evaded the knowledge of even their most elite members. It’s something fun, something new, and the idea of seeing the inner workings of a bureaucracy he doesn’t respect just can’t be passed up.

Despite the government being fairly uncertain of Rocky’s inherent nature he is biologically an average human, just one with a PhD in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

He was raised in the North-Midwestern US by two loving and very sweet parents along with his two older brothers and his younger sister. He had a fairly comfortable middle-class upbringing, but struggled amongst his peers who all didn’t seem to see in him what he saw in himself. They all saw some nerdy loser freak; he saw spotlights, sequins, fireworks, and a screaming crowd.

He got that, in his own way.
