When I was 14 I took a class called Eastern Geographical Perspectives. We spent about a week learning about Israel and Palestine, and the tensions between them. The videos and documentaries we watched were highly sanitized and no doubt a product of the American media system. At the end of the unit, my teacher asked the class to write a short essay on how we would attempt to mitigate these tensions - fully aware that we were 14 year olds whose ideas would be flimsy at best. But what I remember about it is the girl who stood up in front of the whole class, convinced she'd cracked the code on how to solve everything. I remember she stood up and said we needed to put all Palestinians under strict martial law. Under American rule no less. And I think that perfectly encapsulates a lot of what is wrong with the how Americans think about foreign policy.

Y'know, Pancetta kinda reminds me of my little dog Bruiser. He can be the fiestiest little turd in the world sometimes, but it's hard to take him seriously because he's so cute and tiny. Plus, even if I did find him threatening, it's not very hard to beat him. All you have to do is pick him up and then he can't do crud, he just kinda aggressively squirms around.

(Yes, that is exactly the vibe! Pancetta is the burning rage of a thousand suns packaged into a tiny body, and he is easily thwarted by picking him up by the scruff

I still wouldn't recommend trying to pet him or the like, he can and has bitten off fingers, and he will do it again

#i’ve been trying to pick another language to study but man…. #so much to consider #will this language be useful to me? #do i want to go to a country where this language is spoken? #considering finances will i be able to find people locally to practice this language with? #should i wait until i’m back in school and start my studies formally? will i have time? #since korean is grammatically close to japanese and i already passively ingest a lot of korean pop culture i figure it’s a good option #and it would be interesting to be able to study the linguistics of both japanese and korean #and compare and study the history #especially if i do end up looking towards getting a phd #i doubt it tho #and realistically am i gonna go to korea??? i can barely decide whether i want to go back to japan dhskdhdj #tirah talks
