this is going to be more about bts in general so i understand if you dont want to post. i just want to get it out of my system. the teaser for the bts popup thing and the tweet above brought so many things that I’ve disliked/nearly loathed about how bighit has treated bts image/brand in the last 2 years to the forefront of my mind. first, the whole anthology nonsense which was a cheap copout before enlistment. i fully understand that the members were exhausted and needed a change but hybe/bh went about it so wrong and though it may sound extreme i feel that it will have been at the expense of bts’ legacy in years to come. BH/Hybe has been sloppy when it comes to BTS for a while now because they knew they could get away with it financially but seeing so clearly now that it could likely cost them their legacy is so frustrating. No one can deny they had a great run from 2019 to 2021. It was perfectly reasonable for them to have a break before MS and for that time to be used for each of them (or some) to flesh out their solo work. But the way Proof era was handled so sloppily pisses me off. It was kicked off in such a grandesque way with the teaser at the end of the last PTD concert only to be followed with the dissapointment of it being an anthology with only three new songs that had leaked like a year in advance 😩. Then hyping up some big reveal for their anniversary day only for it to be the disastrous June 14th video that ended up reading like a disbandment announcement and became a PR debacle.

I need to talk about the June 14th incident because it simply perplexes me in a number of ways. First of all, I completely understand why the members were emotional about the change/the news they were sharing because a) they knew they’d be dissapointing some people b) i cant imagine how emotionally and physically drained they must have been at the time it was filmed. Obviously, when you’re that exhausted you’re simply prone to get more emotional so I can’t blame them for not seeing how the information would be received from an objective POV they were just relieved to get it out. But their team on the other hand… why the F$&@ did they think it was a good idea for that information to be delivered that way??? Where was the rationality? Where was the coolheadedness? As someone with an interest in PR, it honestly keeps me up still lmao. From a PR standpoint, it was catastrophic and the fact that their team could not foretell the reaction would be chaos from fans and the media goes to show how mediocre their team was at the time. Hell, their stock never fully recovered after that even with Jimin giving it the big boost later. Which they somehow also managed to fumble. But i digress…

2022 was the year for bts to go out with a bang, they simply could have put out a 5-6 track mini album and wrapped it up w a pretty little bow at the Busan concert and even with never reuniting again (which they obviously would bc money) it would have been a nice satisfying ending. But no it was a mess that turned into a series of terrible decisions one after the other and now they’re stuck with Voldemort and will inevitably sell out in 2025 with more Bieber rejects and Golden 2.0 to prove they didn’t “lose relevancy” after the military. Oh brother. Its really not that deep in the grand scheme of things but so dissapointing, unnecessary, and infuriating. Especially bc I will likely still be there to watch it all unfold bc it doesn’t look like my obsession with Jimin is going away any time soon… *sighs*

You're right and I have talked about this before.

I saw other armys quoting that tweet and talking about how epic it was, but it only reminded me of how much of a fumble that whole era was.

If you actually think about it, the last time BTS had a full on era was 4 years ago with mots7.

Dynamite was an English single, BE never even felt like an actual era because of how it was marketed as as some emotional pandemic inspired project with a ballad as the title track. The whole of 2021 was filled with English singles and collabs and in 2022 we had proof with another ballad as the title track. Since 2020 all BTS releases have either been English singles or Korean releases that are clouded with some emotional connotation which kills the hype and excitement around it. And I saw someone say at this point they wouldn't be surprised is bts' first comeback as a group is some emotional fan song about how they miss armys and themselves during their time in the Military, and I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up happening. Like for once can y'all just give us a normal Korean comeback with an upbeat title track and choreography?

The hype around what could have been their best and most successful Korean album yet being wasted on a repackage and a title track like yet to come could have been overlooked if they had made run BTS the title track, but alas. It's almost like bighit and BTS equates emotional and sentimental to boring and lackluster.

Doing all that at the concert only for the whole era to be a burst, the only good thing to come out of proof was run BTS.

Ted Lasso 3x11 thoughts

It really was very nice to see Ted around the neighborhood saying Hi to everyone again, I missed watching him be part of the community a lot throughout the season

I liked the selection of guys who went to get Nate back

I think it would’ve been nice to have seen something that indicated that shift for the team since the last time we saw them thinking about Nate was that disaster at the West Ham match but I’m also not that committed to this 😅 Maybe seeing the vote they mentioned could’ve been fun and illuminating

It felt true to Nate that he enjoyed working at the restaurant

They must’ve been late to practice waiting for 75 freaking kebabs to be ready lmao

Got a kick out of mama Lasso being the origin of the open peanut butter jar

Finding out Beard has to routinely go over to Ted’s flat to make his oven stop beeping was very fun

Had a real good time of Ted being so annoyed at his mom behaving exactly like him. The split shot where she’s heading for the stairs and he’s behind rubbing his face lmao

I cracked up at the press conference when Jamie said the goal should be scrapped from the records and “i apologize to everyone, especially the kids” lmao

Screamed at Ted’s mom being named Dorothy they are shameless

Rebecca was SO excited to meet mama Lasso it was so cute, the way she threw her arms up when Dottie dropped the “Winner winner BF Skinner” line was super adorable, it was also cute how low she had to lean in order to hug Dottie

“I can’t believe I’m finally getting to meet the woman who created one of the nicest humans I’ve ever met” was also very very cute and welcome, I would like a full detailed account of what Rebecca thinks about Ted now thanks (but also I wish that delivery had been more pointed somehow, more loaded, do you know what I mean? Not because I think it had to be, I just got shipper goggles on and that would’ve made me lose my mind.)

The way Rebecca laughed when Dottie said the thing about Ted popping out of her already asking the doctor if he needed anything made me laugh, and then how annoyed Ted was by it made me laugh even more

It’s also pretty cute that Rebecca was so delighted by mama Lasso doing the very things Ted annoyed her for originally, like, those are things she loves now because she associates them with him

Mamma Lasso charming the locker room was great

Ted and Rebecca off to the side in his office observing was also great. I love that Rebecca was delighted by mama Lasso but also aware that Ted was not having a good time (and she hit him with Oklahoma again!)

I laughed at the eyebrow hair joke cause I knew exactly what Ted meant 😂 I’ve annoyed my dad many times about this specifically

“Sometimes the truth can ruin a perfectly good story” “You should work for the daily mail” I cant explain it but this exchange delighted me, they seem so friendly and have such a good back and forth, it’s always a pleasure to seem them onscreen together, and I will never forgive them for not letting us see more of it this season

Ted said he didn’t eat the poop candy bar, but his mom said he did, but we know she has a tendency to embellish her stories, but Ted seemed eager to stop that one in its tracks, so what is the truth??

Trent jumping at the chance to interview Mama Lasso was funny as was her saying his hair is fabulous, real audience self insert moment

I enjoyed Jamie’s boot room meltdown though it was a bit over the top lmao for a split second I thought he was gonna kiss Roy

Again, wish we’d seen this vote about Nate coming back even more knowing Higgins was approached about it or maybe initiated it

I love that Beard and Dottie have a whole thing going on including nicknames and a theme song

Laughed at Ted trying to put the suitcase on the bed and his mom going not on the bed! And him having to redirect on the fly

“I’ve actually been talking to this therapist” “Oh let me guess, it’s all my fault” that was SO momcore. This scene where they talk about the panic attacks and therapy and Ted asks if she ever considered talking to someone was actually my favorite exchange between Ted and his mom in terms of the emotional stuff, that I really felt, especially when she says “And you know I love my tea” how heavy that felt and how informative it was, to me, of their relationship without overstating it

Nora telling Rebecca to stop using her jet is SUCH a fic thing I was losing my mind

Jamie not high-fiving the guy and just walking straight into his hand made me laugh

Of course Kenneth does drag

Keeley was weird in this episode but I cant say what the problem was

Everyone, and I mean everyone, at team movie night was so fun! Rebecca looked so incredibly good! She was wearing jeans!!!

Cracked up at Dani sussing out Roy and Keeley and Keeley being like we’re just friends! And Roy being like she just looks very nice!

Jade grew on me, she and Babs were the only worthy additions this season (even if Jade is technically from last season)

They really gotta let Keeley speak, it feels like things have just been happening to her this entire season when will she be Keeley-fucking-Jones The Independent Woman again?

What the fuck was Roy trying to hug Jamie’s mum and blowing her a kiss and saying he loves her, was he drunk? I did not get that at all

Rebecca’s dad went to art school! Not sure why that’s exciting, but it is!

This episode made me realize how much I missed seeing more of the matches, I watched this game on the edge of my seat like it was in real time

Higgins not wanting to move and jinx it 😂 Everything with Keeley, Higgins and Rebecca on the stands is always great and fun

I wonder what Jade would report Derek for lmao I like that she got Nate fired, again, Jade really grew on me

Jamie’s “Fuck you” and “Thank you” and Ted using it later on with his mom was good, though the pep talk itself didn’t necessarily work for me

Jamie acting like a prick and taking the hazing was great, it was also great to hear Jamie Tartt dododododo again, didn’t even realize I’d missed it. Their second goal was so exciting and the ManCity crowd later cheering Jamie was emotional as were the flashes of his mum watching the game. Anyway, everything Jamie was good as it’s been for the entire season.

Unexpected to see James Tartt in rehab

I didn’t like the Pep cameo, sue me lmao

Jamie saying goodbye to all the players was great, especially him saying he’s proud of Colin

My favorite Ted moment of the episode was when he changed Beard’s mind about Nate. I liked that it was a callback to when they all laughed when first watching Nate struggling with the sign and Ted turned it around and showed Beard how cruel it was to mock someones lowest moment.

Roy/Keeley/Jamie is extremely real, and I loved Ted passing them by and the parallel to season 1 when he sees Jamie with his dad

Beard forgiving Nate was easily my favorite scene in the episode. I loved Beard and Ted’s backstory and I really really loved “And then I stole from my friend, who forgave me, and gave me a job and a life. So to honor that, I forgive you, I offer you a job, and the life part’s up to you.” That really got me and Brendan’s delivery worked so well for me, the forehead touch and the hug as well, it felt like such a genuine moment, I was very happy with it.

Ted and Dottie’s last conversation didn’t land for me, but I enjoyed Ted cursing lmao and I liked “Sometimes you lose, sometime you win, but most of the time you just tie.”

I knew from filming that Bex would show up on Rebecca’s doorstep but Ms. Kakes was a surprise and I’m already SO excited about where this is going, I hope Rupert gets so fucked especially after I had so many issues with how he was handled last episode. Ps: I loved the sweater Rebecca was wearing in this scene.

The fact that his mom left with just a note was an interesting parallel to Sharon trying to do the same and to Deborah doing it to Rebecca

Hannah’s back looked so good in that dress

By that point I’d told myself a truth bomb wasn’t gonna happen and gasped when we saw Rebecca in his office even though I knew full well she didn’t have any truths to bomb him with

It’s so funny that she had this on her calendar or whatever, like yeah she had nothing but still felt the need to uphold tradition you know how it is lmao she’s ridiculous, @thesumdancekid said she should’ve told him something silly just to maintain the pattern and I agree and think that would’ve been cute

Again it is always such a pleasure to see them together onscreen no matter what they’re doing, my heart went off just from seeing them framed by that door

I swear next ep better start exactly where this one left off, I will cry real tears if we don’t get Rebecca’s immediate reaction to Ted saying he’s leaving.

i think he deals with it exactly like this:

I feel like there's a huge fucking mother wound maker wound going on with Armand and I think a LOT of his behavior can be tracked to his abandonment issues. Making himself useful to people or trying to Spell Gift manipulate people into loving him back, or seeing a version of him that he wants them to see, etc.

Making a fledgling is his biggest fear and he sees it as a curse! He knows that once you turn them, they stop seeing you as special, you can never communicate the same way, and you lose your lustre, you become boring to them, there is no substitute for the passion which long ago blazed in their eyes!!

I'm gonna die on the hill defending why Marius didn't rescue Armand -- I GET IT -- but Armand doesn't know any of that. All he knows is that his Maker never rescued him. Even when he was out of the cult, running the TDV, easily track-downable, Marius never came to him.

In the way I think Marius declined to rescue Armand for fear of rejection, Armand also can't bridge this gap back to Marius for a fear of rejection. He wants it! He wants what they had! But he knows they're too different now and it's never going to be the way it was, and they both have to do a lot of work to build a new relationship that could work for who they each are now.

But to answer your question I think it probably just really compounds the feelings of inferiority and the fear that he doesn't deserve love! 🤗

oo, foreshadowing!! I absolutely adore it when repetition is used to this effect- like, a phrase will be said at one point that doesn't seem to have much signifiance outside the context of the scene, but then it'll be repeated later on when more context is revealed which insinuates it having much deeper significance and implies that the first situation it was said had more to it than it seemed.

pretty vague description, but an example is a fic I was reading when an unnamed character says "And so, the pattern repeats," during a flashback where the main character was going through his memories of being abused. Then, later on, the phrase "the pattern repeats" is used in his internal monologue, this time in reference to him thinking that his new found family will abandon or hurt him, just like his abusers did- but it carries more significance now because it emphasises the connection between his new family and his abusers which was just so fucking angsty and aughh.

ok maybe that wasn't reaaally foreshadowing (im just getting carried away thinking of writing in general LMAO) BUT I do have a good example of actual foreshadowing that uses repetition!!! its from the same fic, where the main villain's power is mind manipulation. This is only revealed near the end, when it is used on the MC and causes him to lose track of time because of the dissassociative state it puts him in. during these scenes, feelings of emptiness, calmness and a general lack of emotion are heavily emphasised-- which brings me to an earlier flashback, when (I believe, at least) this power is foreshadowed by the villain using his power on a secondary character. nothing is explicitly said, but the prose lingers on how the tension in the room increases and how the secondary character's face was "devoid of emotion"- which, to me, reads like an excellent use of foreshadowing revealed using later repetition. It's not done so explicitly that the surprise is completely transparent, but it's a nice feature that makes it so when the reveal happens it seems organic and adds a nice bit of "OHHHHH" onto a re-read.

OH BOY ALRIGHTY time for brainrot (long ass ask incoming) im basing this off like. nothing but yk <33 assuming scars crew is boatem, i refuse to believe hed let them die in ANY universe. (death games and worlds with respawn is a different story) so like. what if it was flipped? what if boatem was alive, but scar was the one who "died" there was probably some altercation, he went overboard, somehow managed to dimension hop before going back on the boat, boatem thinks hes dead because impulse checked and hes very much NOT THERE meanwhile, scar (and jellie. cant forget jellie) ended up in an altered season 8. moon big doesn't happen, seasons longer, its not a simulation, so on and so forth. tycoon scar (who im dubbing tycoon for ease) greets scar, is sort of aware that its another one of himself, introduces scar to his "tycoon emporium" (swaggon) and makes an offhand comment abt how he didnt know there was a new member, and how he found that odd scar isnt having it, he just wants info on his family, and get out. plus cool hat. uhhh murder, servers a bit glitchy and fucked bc theres two scars so whoever leaves/dies first gets permadeath, yippie angst, moving on (scar jumps in the boatem hole, and next universe) this sort of thing continues, scar can't control universe hopping, but like. he can actively do it via dying in a vast space/clearing (the void, drowning and falling are. surprisingly reliable) he ends up at psmp, it reminds him of home (it's not home. he knows because everyone except him are humans. pure humans were a rarity in his universe. yes this is an excuse to make scar some sort of parrot (who cant fly, dude has no tail feathers and his wings are itty bitty)) scar does this thing where he lies with mini truths in it. or he lies and you have to just 180 the meaning. so that's what he does with his backstory. safety and survival baby, he can trust basically no one. uhhhh silly detail: he WAS rich in gold coins in his universe, but uhh currency is translated differently in psmp so now hes dirt poor lmao sucks for you buddy

something something the universe said i love you -tn (in no world this is canon but it feeds the brain worms so it does its job. im normal about him)

OOOOOOOH this is so so true.... the reason he seems kind of unbothered about losing his crew could be because he thinks they abandoned him, not realizing they think he's dead the thing about him telling lies with mini truths in it is also so true, it think he'd do that a Lot, it's the easiest way to lie and keep track of your lies ALSO THE GOLD THING WOULD EXPLAIN WHY BRO WAS FLABBERGASTED AT THE INFLATION OF THE PSMP ECONOMY LOL

for once, i may be able to contribute to the dialogue about ons despite losing track of the plot at least 4 years ago.

anyway here are just some thoughts on today's chapter.

firstly, the elevator panel in the tower of babel is the kabbalistic tree of life. weirdly though, its extended past the regular amount of spheres which you can see in the comparison photo below.

actual tree of life with translations:

notably, shikama doji was at the top, presumably at keter, but im not sure if this was just added for the mystical vibe or if the tree of life actually serves a purpose in the plot.

the tree of life has 7 levels with different traits/virtues called "nodes" on each. for example, the 6th is binah (understanding) and chochmah (wisdom). it describes how god interacts with creation.

the tower mika and yuu enter is explicitly revealed to be the tower of babel, which according to the book of genesis is located in babylonia. the purpose of tower was to reach the heavens where god resides, but god stepped in and made it so that the workers could no longer communicate with each other and build further (britannica.com).

this story is said to be the origin of multiple languages on earth, rather than the sole language that all people spoke previously.

in terms of relevance to the plot of ons, this matches up with shikama doji's desire to ascend back to heaven.

knowing that, im confused with why there are so many other angels down there with shikama. were all angels expelled from heaven? why else would the city be so massive?

up until now i thought it was a lucifer/satan fallen angel type of deal.

on another subject, and i had to confirm this with a google search, there is no historically accurate reason for the presence of the star we see carved into the planet here since if we're going by historical accuracy. the star had no real relevance as far as i know until much later in history. like, modern ages. millions and millions of years later.

in terms of storytelling though, pentagrams are a motif commonly used to express meanings varying from godly protection and the warding off of spirits to satanic or occult rituals. obviously the occult part matches up with the magic we've seen in ons. unfortunately, we've been told very little about the magic system as a whole.

i wonder if the reason for the meteor that destroyed the dinosaurs was to get rid of this city? i cant imagine another reason why takaya kagami would choose this time period, millions of years before the first homo sapien. if anyone's curious, the meteor landed in what's known today as the Chicxulub crater.

mika, who i thought was supposed to be the smart one 💀:

the high-tech infrastructure of the angel city is deeply confusing to me. i wonder if we're going to be introduced to time travel? maybe that's where the ice cream comes from.

considering the introduction of dinosaurs few things would surprise me at this point.

i really wish things would speed up a bit. the complexity of the dialogue between yuu and mika is mind numbing at this point. it doesn't move the plot forward in the slightest, gives no information about the characters aside from what we already know; they're stupid.

how many times are we supposed to laugh at the same joke?

despite these flaws i feel for the first time in years the tiniest spark of interest in the plot solely because of how out of pocket this all is.

now that i think about it, if all the seraphim were expelled from heaven, what about the other types of angels? do they even exist in this universe?

sorry i'm actually still on that castlevania brainrot, with a big big focus on CoD since i've been re-playing it in my free time, but felt like i was being too annoying about it between simping for Hector in a way i have not publicly done for any other blorbo and bitching about netflixvania lmao

now that i've had some time to let my thoughts Stew and Simmer, and after consuming whatever Hector-centric fan content i can get my greedy little hands on, i got some Thoughts on all the pairings i've come across, and put together my as-of-now takes on them:

• CV: CoD Hector/Isaac - yes! THE ship of all time! versatile, but however you ship them, They Are Each Other's Whole World!!! they're best friends at minimum (at least before Hec's betrayal) and hell yes they're fooling around with each other - they're 2 dudes in their early 20s who grew up together, literally have no one else and probably spend damn near 24/7 together as a result of their living situation/jobs. is it a casual friends with benefits thing? are they romantically involved and devoted to each other? work besties? mentor mentee kinda thing? is it mutually toxic and/or abusive? friendly rivalry? bitter enemies til the end? it all works! the beauty of the canon not being set means theres so much room for interpretation, but i don't think hector or isaac would be as broken up as they are if they didn't feel something for each other. for me, it all tracks and part of the fun is seeing new ways to interpret their dynamic (except no one makes content for their game counterparts anymore after netflixvania 😢)

• Netflixvania!Hector/Isaac - sorry but i just can't get on board the Forgehusbands thing here. in this version, the most chemistry they have is barely tolerating each other as colleagues. its not even animosity, just straight up indifference. then hector spends some months in his own personal hell being Lenores plaything probably just trying to not lose his sanity while isaac is thousands of miles away consumed by the thought of revenge but otherwise living it up. Issac doesnt even really save Hector in the end…? and idk why but the writers were really pushing a Lenector agenda so there really isn't much of anything to ship here. N!Isaac's too dry and serious about his own misanthropy without any of the mindless, fanatical devotion to Drac's cause CoD!Isaac has, while N!Hector is just. barely a character tbh with how passive and contradicting he feels (and i will CURSE the writers for forever squandering his character when he probably has the most official, coherent material dedicated to explaining his whole deal!!!). there's not much in this canon that drives them towards each other in a way i find compelling, but if someone out there could take on the challenge and actually show how they end up getting together (as friends or romantically) i'd be interested in that! because the current status quo where they're Inexplicably An Item From The Start is a little stale tbh

• Hector/Rosaly - YESSSSSS i love how their relationship is depicted in both PtR and the manga series! (favorite panel of all time: "Oh, you bit right away") i've seen some criticisms of this ship and specifically Rosaly essentially being Lisa 2.0 and a namedropped source of Man Pain™ for all of CoD's intro cutscene before never being mentioned again and. yeah, that's all true. BUT its so soft, and quiet and loving. they really are perfect for each other <3 and it's an interesting parallel for Drac/Lisa, and how Hector doesn't go on a genocidal rampage after losing his beloved in the exact same way, despite his own misanthropy still holding strong. does that say something about Hector's character, or was it all just Death's scheming going exactly as planned?

• Hector/Julia - nnnnooo…. come on man. you cant fuck your ex's (that you killed btw) sister that just so happens to look like your recently deceased wife. who was murdered by aforementioned ex. god the baggage going in all directions here... thankfully, even in canon its only implied at best, if you turn your head and squint. i like 'em as Just Friends, thanks - 2 magic wielders that share a bond through being persecuted by humanity, and for losing a mutual someone they cared for deeply. (side note: wish we saw more of Julia! i love that for what little we got of her, she does seem to mirror Isaac, in ways only siblings who are close can)

• N!Hector/Lenore - no and FUCK no. i actively hate this pairing. the only acceptable interaction between these 2 is Hector staking Lenore through the heart with a smile on his face. and before anyone comes for me, it has NOTHING to do with the fact that it's a m/f ship, because as mentioned above, i adore Hector/Rosaly. it's not even because it's abusive, you CAN write and enjoy darker relationship dynamics but. this just wasn't it. if they were going for an enemies-to-lovers kind of thing, they failed spectacularly at establishing the 'to lovers' part. the only reason i enjoyed their S4 interactions is because it's seemingly the only time in the entire series anyone talks to Hector with any level of respect, even if it was just dumb sex jokes.

• Hector/Alucard - this one surprised me, for simultaneously seeming to hold both statuses as 'squarely defined as a rarepair by most fan's standards' but also 'there were at least a good few pages worth of the Hector Castelavnia tag on Ao3 that was just these 2 as the main pairing'?

not really sure how i feel about this one - i like them as individual characters who have a lot of parallels going on (probably because Hector is supposed to be like an 'improved' version of Alucard from what i've read?)

i like the idea of their netflixvania versions trauma bonding after the shit in S3 because good lord they both need someone who can understand what they've been through. but they don't interact at all in the netflix show, so no dice there imo. under a more cynical lens, my feelings are something like "you only ship these 2 because they're both soft prettyboys you wanna see fucking huh"

if you go by the games canon and lore then they're just about the same age and logically would have interacted at least occasionally in their time at Castlevania but ofc we dont see any of it. theres some ancient fanfics out there that expand on this with alucard, hector, and isaac all being childhood friends before they grew up and had to kinda move into their respective roles and protocol and formality and work kinda made them drift apart and i find those very cute <3

i think this pairing could work honestly, they're both generally kind-hearted albeit tragic souls with a cold disposition who experienced the madness of Castlevania and Dracula's vengeance firsthand. there's gotta be something you can pull outta there. mmmaybe not quite friendship either but.... kindred souls. they have that "prince and his knight" kinda vibe, at least aesthetically, which i can get behind! and i like what i've seen from the exceedingly rare pre-netflixvania fics that exist, and even the netflixvania fanfics are kinda cute (please can we move away from the theme of N!Trevor brutalizing N!Hector out of mistrust just as a chance for N!Alucard to swoop in and save him? shit is damn near ubiquitous even in my very brief time exploring)

• Hector/Trevor - (i should specify i'm referring to their games versions exclusively here. N!Trevor isn't even aware of N!Hector's existence afaik) i dig it, there's just the very inconvenient fact that Trevor's supposed to be married to Sypha lol. and i dont really see a trephacard type of situation happening here (not that im crazy for trephacard now that i mention it. it's cute, it's wholesome but eh, not much substance to it? im realizing i like my ships with a pinch of tension)

so much comedic potential! a fun ship to entertain, but i feel like no one seems to make any content that captures their dynamic well. so ultimately this is a "the best ship is friendship" type of relationship for me. i have a headcanon that Trevor tries, really, really tries, to reach out and befriend Hector post-CoD in a way he might not for other people, out of guilt and concern he'd end up like Adrian (except at least Adrian has the option to wake up and rejoin the world, if he felt like he was finally ready someday. Hector, for all his demonic powers, is still very much human and is shown not once, but twice, ready to let himself go peacefully from this world because he just can't envision a future for himself after Castlevania and losing everything that's important to him. and i generally just like Trevor being a Genuinely Good Person, despite being a bit of a pompous hot-head. miss me with whatever netflixvania was going for)

• Hector/Dracula - ….okay so a certain tumblr user's AU got to me and i do enjoy how dark and fucked up this is <33 and thats pretty much exclusively how i view this ship - always a power imbalance, never wholesome. that's all i have to say about it, don't really wanna go into specifics and squick anyone out but uhh yeah. it's not pretty lmao

the main one i've been pretty fixated on lately is my little shop of horrors/little mermaid au with seymour and audrey. (did i make this au because howard ashman/alan menken wrote the songs for both little shop and disney's little mermaid? perhaps)

honestly i think you could put either seymour or audrey in the "mermaid" role but personally i prefer seymour as the mermaid in my au bc the plotline about sacrificing parts of yourself to a malevolent entity (sea witch or man-eating plant) in exchange for your dream life/getting to be with the person you love is a common thread in both stories (and in the original fairytale of the little mermaid AND the director's cut/stage musical ending of little shop, this deal winds up going wrong and leaves the protagonist dead by the end of the story). plus, seymour technically "rescued" audrey from orin by killing him, just like how the mermaid saves the prince.

now let's seeeeeee. i also have a majimako cinderella au that i'm pretty attached to. i read a post once about majima's plotline in yakuza 0 being almost a direct parallel to cinderella and it changed my brain chemistry honestly. it's also what birthed this au. plus he literally sings a song called 24 hour cinderella duh. so along with majima as cinderella (person forced to work for someone else who suddenly gets a chance to escape servitude) and makoto as the prince (who loses track of the person they formed a deep connection with...although makoto actually ends up finding him again in this story!!) there's also sagawa as the stepmother (but there are no stepsisters in this version bc i couldnt think of any), nishitani as the fairy godmother (because i got that idea and it was hilarious to me so it stuck) and yuki and the rest of the club sunshine crew as majima's mice friends.

uhhhhh beauty and the beast is one of my favorite fairy tales so ive made like a bajillion of those aus for various fandoms ive been in over the years. i have a majimako batb au that i like but haven't done a lot with (although im thinking to set it in the modern day rather than a more traditional fairy tale setting). i also wrote a sort of beauty and the beast-esque thing with seymour and audrey a few years ago but i reread it recently and it was cringe to me so if that idea ever comes back around it'll probably need more than a few plot tweaks.

i'd kill to have a little mermaid au with nishiki as the mermaid btw (bc helloooooooo koi imagery....pretty merman nishiki with a pretty koi tail <3) but i have no idea who his prince could be. maybe kiryu? maybe he doesn't even go up to the human world for romance at all maybe he just wants to prove a point or something idk.

Any setting in which chips (or even crackers) exist you can bet he’s gonna be scarfing those fuckers down.

💼 - What do they do for a living? Ok so this is funny; in everywhere except the very scuffed ass modern/fc5 AU he mainly just steals shit. If asked why he’s always very ideological about why he does it, very particular about his targets but ultimately yeah. Whatever he can’t obtain via his weirdo hermit ass lifestyle he just forages in other peoples’ homes and businesses for. He could probably make some bank selling the shit he makes if he had any tolerance for the prospective buyers but that is not going to happen because stealing is less annoying.

🥊 -What do they love to do? What do they hate to do? Loves to fucking chill idk. If left to his own devices he would probably just roam around, climb some mountains, build some dumb shit, make a campfire, play guitar, who knows. As for hate. uhm. I don't think there's any day-to-day activity that he genuinely cant stand. Like he doesn't particularly like going to pick up the mail or answering the door but like it's not the end of the world. He definitely hates when things are done TO him though lmao- he hates being touched except by a VERY specific few people, otherwise expect to lose an arm.

✂️ - What is one of your OC’s worst memories? There was a prominent antagonist in the main RP I did with him, a dracolich who managed to push his buttons like no one else could and more or less took away everything that he held dear. Needless to say Eran went full murder mode, forgot how to be human for a few years, the whole nine yards. I could gush about that RP for hours it is my favourite thing I’ve done with Eran like ever

🧊 - Is their current design the first one? I went and tracked down a specil [ EXCLUSIVE !! ] piece of sprinkle history: behold scrackle circa 2009.

Needless to say the current design is slightly different. Having said that I think I had the basics of his design dialed in within the first few years.

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC? I can’t explain this without sounding like an insane person, but it involves a fixation that 13yo bug had with a popular Canadian country-rock band. It’s all completely irrelevant now but it is funny to think about. There were comics.

🌂 - What genre do they belong in? For a long time I had him really locked in to fantasy stuff but I am less and less enamoured with that genre as time goes on for a few different reasons. It’s familiar and comfortable for me certainly, and Eran has BY FAR the most ‘lore’ in his original, fantasy-ish canon. So I’m not sure if that counts as belonging but it’s certainly his origin. Even then that's more of a setting than a genre so I'll expand on that- I think there are certain elements that make an Eran story successful in my eyes, that aren't limited to fantasy. I need him to be able to do crimes, be a Wild Boy and generally be more of a freak than a modern setting would typically allow (not to 100% trash the FC5 au but it definitely needs…something). I think it would be funny to put him in a heist movie. I’ve always liked him best when leaning heavily into the drama, character study sort of shit.

🙌 - How many sibling does your OC have? One brother, Ash, whom he hates.

🍎 - What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like? Bad! His whole family is a cult in its own right more or less and Eran really doesn’t want anything to do with them. It's admittedly something I haven't fleshed out toooooo much. E's very much a 'keep moving forward' type of guy so naturally his family past stuff has not had too much attention.

💎 - Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC? I have had him beef it before- obviously it’s been in self contained storylines. As for anything more permanent- hard to say. I never want to rule out the possibility entirely. I definitely feel like I’ve exhausted my writing options for him at the moment so that seems close to death in a way. I can draw the little bastard until the end of days but coherent story content has been…. Lacking. :|

🍩 -Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival? I don’t feel like he’s had a ‘nemesis’ really in any of the main stories. His scraps tend to be against larger organisations, the world around him or his own dumb ass decisions. I think his most persistent ‘enemy’ has been a Mages’ Guild (also from ‘The RP’ I keep blabbing on about) which he angered on many different occasions though not without good reason. ;)
