For me, the most ridiculous thing about Robert Newton as Javert in the 1952 movie is that this wasn’t the first movie I’d seen him in. Actually, I had first seen him as Lukey in Odd Man Out (1947). What’s so funny about this is that when I saw him as Lukey, my first thought was that he would make a great Grantaire.
