〆　illumi never thought dates were necessary unless it was to gain information or assassinate someone. so when you pulled the date idea, he deadpans at you with the most emotionless face known to man.

〆　he doesn’t really understand why you wanted one (he probably just thought you’d get engaged and marry him without him going out of his way to do something special). anyways, illumi has absolutely no idea how to plan for a fucking date and when he finally agreed to it, he wondered what he was getting himself into

〆　illumi is totally the type that googles dating plans and tips because he doesn’t know how to do them himself

〆　illumi would memorise a list of tips and do every single thing. from spoiling you to complimenting you, he does everything. he’s not fond of pda, so he avoids that

〆　tbh, chrollo, killua, gon and kurapika are the only decent dates here

〆　chrollo is a lot like kurapika. he’d take you out for a nice formal dinner, with great wine, great music, the whole package. difference is, chrollo enjoys long quiet hours where you two just read and enjoy each other’s presence

〆　he’d pause phantom troupe activities and leave pakunoda and shalnark in charge of the gang. they won’t question him, but they admit it is strange for the boss to take a break for a date, especially if he has no ulterior motive

〆　long walks in the park after the rain. coffee and croissants in quaint cafes. library dates. there’s a good chance chrollo would plan these dates for the both of you

〆　he doesn’t talk a lot, but you feel perfectly safe with him. the occasional compliment, a sweet smile. chrollo is the type that loves long discussions about books, and he loves it if you’re familiar with ancient poetry or literature too

The mob psycho 100 anime ending was supremely disappointing.. it felt super rushed and it was like…. Who are all these people… I thought we were talking about kageyamas growth emotionally + power wise…. It was just like NGE where the first half of the show is like really good and interesting and poses a lot of interesting questions and thoughts about the characters and their motives and the world and stuff and then the 3rd quarter builds up a ton of emotional energy and then it’s like 5 straight episodes of a big crazy fight that doesn’t resolve anything but that’s the ending

As soon as you two were alone in a private setting, he would be much more clingy than usual

Which, in of itself would be unusual, as he’s not the type to be so physically attatched.

Perhaps it was his more possessive side coming out to play, but it certainly was new.

He’d know. Out of all of the main four, he’d pick it up fastest.

If the conversation wasn’t important, he’d find a way to end it quickly, to save you the jealousy.

He might use his assassin lineage to scare the other man away, but it’s rare he would need it.

He’s scary enough.

After freaking out the other man to the point where he’d left, he’d flick your forehead and roll his eyes. “That guy was looking at you weird!”

You wouldn’t know that he knew.

Not until the day afterwards, when there’s a chocolate robot laying beside your head when you wake up.

It’s his way for apologizing, or just letting you know that he did, in fact, know you were jealous

Gon’s not the type of person to get jealous.

He simply just doesn’t. It’s not because he doesn’t care for you or anything.

Slightly controversial hxh opinion n°2 but I hate that a significant part of the fandom treats Leorio like he is "the normal one" of the main 4 in terms of potential power levels, imo it's just canonically not true.

Ging (a top 5 nen user who directly received an attack from him) describes him as having "huge potential". Hisoka not only spares him but remarks multiple time on the fact that he is an "unripe fruit" and carries him directly to the next exam site to insure that he will pass.

Like come on, he is not just "some guy" with a big heart who lucked out during the hunter exam, a lot of signs point out that he will become a powerful nen user with a big heart!

How Hand Jumper Treats Gender

Most of the manga/manhwa I read default to the male gaze. I don't even mean that the female characters are needlessly sexualized, which they often are, but that they're only allowed to fill certain roles. Holy figures and healers are (young, impossibly beautiful) women, the tragic, innocent character who gets assaulted is a woman, the skimpily dressed ninja is a woman, the pure, younger sibling that needs protection is a woman, the seductive villain is a woman, the extremely powerful fighter that will nonetheless always be second in strength to the male lead is a woman. Upskirt shots and carefully framed ass/boobs panels abound. Their characterization can be shallow: especially in action and thriller series, the motivations of female characters are rarely given the same consideration that male characters receive.

Hand Jumper is different. First, female characters are taken just as seriously as male ones, in every way possible. Second, a character's gender does not influence their power level. While it's true that cis men are physically stronger than cis women in the real world, "men are always stronger than women" does not make sense in fantasy action contexts. Why are all the most powerful heroes in My Hero Academia men? Why must all the notable healers in Naruto be female ninja? In worlds where people possess honest to God magical superpowers, power is totally divorced from the density of your muscles. This is true of Hand Jumper's world as well, so it treats its characters appropriately: Male and female Aberrants fight on equal ground. As a result, some of the most prestigious Aberrant positions are held by women: Samin is the leader of the Crimson Society, Cell 4's instructor and mentor are both women, and Sayeon's mother Sara is so mysterious and so powerful that she seems close to godly. Sara's treatment is especially interesting, given that she's filling a role usually reserved for men: the mysterious, legendary parent of the protagonist who left their life when they were still a child. Think Gon's father in HxH, Baki's father in Grappler Baki, Naruto's father, the Joestars in JoJo, or Luffy's father in One Piece. In Hj, it's not the mother, but the father who is drowned out in the shadow cast by his spouse.

Personalities, fantasy power levels, and interests are not inherently gendered! So Hand Jumper doesn't treat them as gendered either. The bubbly, cheerful member of the main group is usually a girl, but this time it's Iseul Kim. The pretty, androgynous Min is both a deadly weapon and a baker of cute pastries- he picks up Sayeon in a bridal carry after a fight, and incredibly, it's not framed as a romantic gesture. Lastly, the aggressive, jaded rival to the protagonist is usually male, but this time it's Ryujin Kang. This position being filled by a female character is so unusual that I remember the comments section being filled with people mistaking Ryujin for a boy, even though she was clearly presented as a woman from the start. Part of this confusion is probably fueled by how Ryujin has a lot of… tension with Sayeon, tension usually found in heterosexual enemy-to-lover relationships. And Sayeon herself? She's on a crusade to avenge her childhood friend, a damsel in distress who died in Episode 2. Somehow, in Hand Jumper, the tragic dead lover that needs avenging is a man.

Alright! I wanna talk about my thought process behind this crazy detailed piece I made for the hxh adventures zine in 2018! Get ready for plenty of closeups and references.

So the @hxhadventures zine was the very first fandom zine I've ever been accepted in, which was huge for me back then, considering hxh is the first ever fandom I've been deeply involved in! So I was like 'damn...i gotta bust my balls to make a super good piece cause there's so many amazing artists working on this thing.' I will never make a piece this detailed again, probably LOL this took me...so many weeks.

I knew I wanted to make something regarding Yorknew City, and thought back to the marketplace that Leorio and Killua and Gon visited while waiting for Kurapika to get back to them. It reminded me a lot of Mongkok's markets when I visited Hong Kong a few years prior, so I worked with some references from there.

As for what goods would be sold in the stall...well. I was really figuring it out all as I went. After a while of thinking, I decided on drawing a bunch of little references from anything I could remember from hxh. References to characters, places, important props...nevermind that it didn't make sense that the characters were stepping into a shop that was basically meta, it just felt cool as hell to include anything I could remember from the nights when I binged the manga and anime.

Let's start from the top right:

These chinese animal lanterns are references to the 12 zodiacs! And I had to include the blimps that the main cast moved around in from the anime.

As we move lower:

Top row, left to right: Knuckle's nen, Shoot's nen, Knov's glasses, Palm's necklace of knives, Togashi and Naoko dog and rabbit bags (the first of 3 instances I would place them in this drawing)

Bottom row, left to right: Bisky's nen, Netero's nen, Morel's pipe, Kite's nen.

Bottom row: Various characters as dolls, a reference to Hisoka viewing everyone as dolls.

Did you know Togashi created a romantic comedy manga back in 1989? He always talked about liking shojo and romance but it’s not very known that he actually wrote one! (this is about killugon i promise keep reading)

It was never officially licensed so there’s no released English translation.

Very vaguely, the story is about Ryuji and Maria, the main romantic couple (pictured above) . It’s sorta a “ friends to lovers “ situation… in it’s own way.

Anyway, there’s one scene that started this whole discovery. Ryuji and Maria essentially go on a star gazing date. (yakwtfgo)

As we all know, Killua has electric powers. He has one move in particular called “ 落雷 “ (thunderbolt/lightning strike)

Coincidentally, Maria from the romcom ALSO has electric powers. Not just any electric power though, she has a move called “ 落雷 “ (thunderbolt/lightning strike)

Deuteragonists with electric powers and a thunderbolt move.

What’s next? Maria also being immune to poison just like Killua?

This next portion isn’t as big but they’re just little situations that gave me deja vu :

Here we have the classic jealousy situation when a “romantic rival” enters the story.

- Stalking as they talk by a tree.

- Fuming with anger as something affectionate happens between them.

- Fleeing when the current situation became too much to handle. (in killua’s case he left to go fight a rabbit but still. yk he wasn’t about to stick around for what came next😭)

And there’s also the way they bump heads and bicker with each other like a married couple.

i’m sure there’s more similarities and hxh inspo in the story but i don’t feel like rereading and translating it all

In conclusion :

This means that from the very beginning, Togashi intentionally coded Gon and Killua from a romantic couple. KilluGon is the recreated/reimagined version of Ryuji and Maria (a pure and sfw and gay version)

his heart literally melted when he saw you napping with Alluka (has multiple pictures but will never show them to anyone.)

About stubbornness. He hates it, he will just flick your forehead...like really hard when you are throwing a tantrum.

Meh he is nice, but he is kinda bothersome to you by constantly bugging you. (6/10)

Listen, when I say Leorio carries you around like a baby. I mean it.

MISS GURL he is 6'3!!!

his camera storage is filled with photos of you sleeping.

Doesn't mind you being stubborn, he himself falls in that category.

You can be as lazy as you want to, he will do all your work like a simp.

Honestly, he is just so sweet and nice, how can you not like him.

tbh I think, sleepy and stubborn people are his type and they can neutralize his overly loud self.

I will never shut up about how out of all hxh characters Kurapika would be the best s/o (Kite stands as an exception.)

He hates the fact that he can't spend more time with you, but whenever he comes late and sees you sleeping, my guy m e l t s.

However, he may not always be able to enjoy the stubborn side of you.

The thing is that he works so much and kind of just expects everything in the end of the day to go very smoothly, so he may get a little mad at you for the same.

But he cannot stay mad at you longer than a few hours. Usually apologizes first.
