Dialogue Day

I was thinking it would be fun for us to share a section of dialogue that we like from our own work! It can be funny, sad, ridiculous, mysterious, plot-centric or just characters shooting the breeze…anything! And it can be from a WIP or a posted fic! It can be short or long! Let’s celebrate our beloveds having a chat. ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 I shall start with something cute/stupid (cupid!!!) from a WIP:

Carlos curves his hands around TK’s neck. “TK, Look at me.”

“I can’t.” TK breaks, looking anywhere but at him. This being dazzled thing – it’s mutual. And maybe this is the emotional equivalent to how Carlos feels about being physically naked in a public space. He just wants to swim away. “And I won’t.”

“What? Why not?”

“Your eyes are too big.”

“Excuse me?” Carlos scoffs.

“They are too big.”

“Nobody’s ever told me that they’re too big before.”

“They’re so big they see everything,” TK tells him, a little snarly.

“That scares you, huh?” Carlos runs a hand through TK’s wet hair, pushing it up from where it’s flattened against his scalp.

“It would scare you too.” TK wafts a hand at Carlos’ face, feeling foolish and vulnerable. “If it were the other way around.”

Carlos kisses TK’s forehead in a motion that hushes him, and then nuzzles his own forehead against it. The bridges of their noses touch, and they both shut their eyes. “It is the other way around,” Carlos says, “Sometimes I can’t look at you, either. And I mean that as a compliment.”

My two crumbs of thought today are:

how terrible I have been at reading lately (I wish there was an extra 10 business hours in the day, minimum); and

how talented everyone is in the LS fandom and how lowkey mad it makes me (but in that way where you kinda want to squish everyone like a really, really adorable pet).

I have the following as must-reads in the next month or so (no promises because I unfortunately create a whole bunch of nonsensical rules for myself and one of those rules is that - unless I'm in the doc - I must leave thoughtful or completely unhinged comments. I have a brand, people).

“Did you love being a cop?” TK asked. Carlos fingers curled into a ball, his shoulders straightening, “I did,” he said. “Why don’t you do it anymore,” Again, Carlos shrugged, pulling on a small smile, “Change of scenery,” he didn’t realise that the words had left his lips, he had spoken them so many times he almost believed it.

Break (Bartender!Carlos AU)

TK pulled the phone from his ear, his dad’s words fading. TK felt his breath quickening, he clenched the phone hard, part of him worried it would break and the other part hoping it would. TK held the phone back to his ear, “Listen dad I uh, I can’t talk right now, enjoy the convention,” He rambled.

Look (Bartender!Carlos AU)

“You know what else helps: talking,” TK cocked his head to the side, giving Carlos a are you serious look before rolling his eyes, “Look I’m not trying to pry I just…” He couldn’t finish the sentence.

Touch (TK fic)

The other car door opened, a tall man got out, his fine hair a light grey - TK recoiled on the spot. No. Why would he be here? Why in Texas- “Hey,” Carlos’s voice pulled him back to the present, his gentle touch pulling TK back to the present, however the warm comfort that had been there before was gone, no sense of it returning soon

Swim (TK fic)

“Man when did it get so fucking cold,” Tristian said, his hands rubbing together. “I hate New York,” The boy sighed, jumping down from the bench, “We should move to California or something, could swim in the ocean, walk along the beach” TK’s laughed, nodding his head, “I’m sure both our part times jobs would cover what? The snacks at the airport,

👀 Do you have any words/phrases you use habitually?

Answered here but now that I'm thinking on it more, I am sure in almost every story, I have made mention of a curl that hangs on Carlos' forehead and that is 1000% me be projecting and being obsessed with Rafa's loose curl so TK must be too. Those are the rules. That curl is everything and I will stand by that until the end of time

uhhh that is a good question and something that I haven't really thought about before, lately, I've become a write it and forget it type of person. I do like to write about breath and hand placement a lot because they can convey a lot. Not sure if I have any overused phrases tho.

☀️ Has anyone ever left you a comment that made your day? What did it say?

oh yeah there's been a few over the years, there isn't any specific ones from acespec-Eddie ones but collectively the ones that said they felt seen in those fics were really touching. However, just on my writing itself, one that comes to mind is from one of my fic besties

but also any and all of the ones where someone has taken the time to write a running commentary on the fic and pulled out their fav lines or moments literally make my heart so full
