INDYCAR DRIVERS AS ROMANCE BOOK TROPES
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: I give romance tropes to my favourite funky indycar men. if y’all actually want to see me do any of these, please tell me in the comments 🫣
dedicated to my bestie @magnummagnussen who helped ghostwrite and give her ideas on a few of the tropes! (sorry for not including sting ray bestie, I have his trope to callum!)
pato o ward
reverse grumpy sunshine!!! pato is a bright ball of sunshine and in an ideal romance book he would pair with a girl who is a little grumpy (just a little bit) and cynical about falling in love and then dear sweet patricio would sweep in and show her just how magical being in love can be and show her that soulmates are real and life doesn’t have to be doom and gloom all the time
josef newgarden
single dad x nanny trope! I can see this playing out as recently widowed josef (probably not the right word) struggling to balance being the only caregiver for his son next to his racing career. cue y/n, the nanny he hires to watch after his son while he’s away and competing. he’s scared to fall in love again because he’s still grieving what he once had, but his son grows attached to y/n and how could josef not fall in love with someone his son loves so much?
kyle kirkwood
second chance romance! he lost her once, and now that she’s back in his life he won’t give her up!! the way I see this one playing out is that maybe they were together before kyle made it to the big leagues, back when nobody in america knew his name. but while she was deciding which ivy league scholarship to choose, Kyle is thinking about his career. she gives him an ultimatum, and he picks racing. so she goes to her big fancy school and forgets about him. but when a family tragedy brings her back to florida and she comes face to face with kyle, who is now a grand prix winner, hes desperate to keep her from being the one who got away.
colton herta
accidental pregnancy!! their relationship was falling apart, the distance and the pressures of colton’s career. eating them alive. words were said that couldn’t be taken back. so they called it quits, he moved to nashville and she tried to keep her head down and finish school. until she missed her period. her world seems to be ending with those two little lines, but she still cares about him. she can’t just keep coltons child a secret from him, this disaster is as much his fault as it is hers. so she goes to indiana the weekend before the 500 and she tells him. tensions are running high between them both, but they’re trying to do right by each other and the baby, and the experience reminds them that maybe they were meant to be together all along.
marcus armstrong
brothers best friend!!! y/n ilott knows that marcus is off limits. since she was fifteen she’s thought all her brothers friends were gross anyways. marcus was always by far the most annoying. fast forward a few years and they’re racing together in the same series again and suddenly marcus armstrong isn’t a gross as she remembers. and has his voice always been that sexy?? but callum can NEVER know.
david malukas
wrong number! let’s face it this man is too lazy to make contacts for half of the names in his phone. he was so sure that was sting rays number. why wouldn’t it be, the man from idaho had typed it in himself. turns out, it wasn’t sting ray at all, but some random college student who lived over a thousand miles away. he starts to text her when she gets bored, eventually progressing to face time calls, and begins to get flustered once he has a face to put with the personality. ends with him flying out to meet in her in person.
christian lundgaard
fake dating! he shouldn’t have done it. every bone in his body told him not to do it but the panicked look on her face was enough to make christian agree to pretend to be her boyfriend to scare off her cheating ex boyfriend, who was making her seriously uncomfortable. it was just supposed to be for the weekend, until the guy started leaving her alone. but a lot can happen on one race weekend and suddenly it doesn’t seem so fake anymore.
callum ilott
childhood friends to lovers! they were always just supposed to be friends, but if that’s the case, why does callum hate her new boyfriend now that the relationship is getting serious? why does y/n still feel like something is missing? cue a drunken night out leading to the hottest sex callum has ever had and lingering questions on both sides about what they really truly want out of life and love.

Marcus is a self-proclaimed "lover not a fighter". He's known to be very friendly and approachable, with a significant portion of the Formula 2 grid mentioning that he was the driver they got on with best in the paddock during his time there. His results in F2 were mixed, moving teams in 3 successive years, as he sometimes had difficulty getting to grips with the F2 car and tyres, however it’s generally agreed that his midfield championship positions during his F2 tenure aren’t an accurate reflection of his genuine ability and talent. Multiple Ganassi team members (including the boss) have commented on how impressed they are by his raw speed, work ethic, and attitude since his arrival in IndyCar. Marcus himself has already talked about how much more enjoyable the Indy car is to drive and how much fun he’s having now after several years of struggling with the notoriously difficult F2 car. He also appears to be getting on well with his CGR teammates and in particular has talked about how much he likes Marcus Ericsson.
He moved to London in early 2022 after spending several years living near Ferrari’s HQ in Maranello, Italy, and is known to enjoy city nightlife, being a big fan of wine. He’s a major foodie who likes taking photos of good food almost as much as he enjoys complaining about bad food. He is known to be determined to the point of stubbornness, causing himself permanent damage to his knee during a half-marathon due to refusing to stop when he was in pain. He had a low attendance record at school due to focusing on his racing career and moving to Europe at the age of 14, and as such, although he’s not unintelligent he’s known to be somewhat lacking in general knowledge (such as thinking Shakespeare’s first name was Michael). However, he has the characteristically Kiwi dry, sarcastic sense of humor and very much enjoys mutual teasing and banter with his close friends, something that’s often on display in the Screaming Meals podcasts.

Fanfic Lore
Usually paired with Callum Ilott, or F2 driver Clement Novalak due to their extremely close and physically affectionate friendship - was Clem’s teammate during their karting days, and has said that they talk every day while he’s in the US Likes to tease Callum and wind him up to his face, but often calls him his best mate and praises him when he’s not around. However Callum rarely (if ever) reciprocates the latter, probably due to his intense Britishness Good friends with multiple drivers from various series, including Juan Manuel Correa, Jüri Vips, Guanyu Zhou, Nick Cassidy, Max Fewtrell and Felipe Drugovich Also has a tendency to “adopt” younger drivers and refer to them as “little bro”, including Jak Crawford and Dino Beganovic Has said on several occasions that he doesn’t wear underwear, and also shaves his legs (and possibly elsewhere, having claimed that he is “hairless from the eyebrows down”) Claims he can’t tell the difference between someone being nice to him and someone flirting with him

ELMS interview with Clem (link above, copied text under the cut)
Tumblr media
Double WSK Super Master Series Kart Champion and Formula 2 race winner Clement Novalak will begin on a new chapter in 2024 when the 23-year-old French driver makes his ELMS debut with Inter Europol Competition in Barcelona, competing for the overall title in LMP2 alongside Ollie Gray and Luca Ghiotto.
After clinching his second WSK Super Master Series title in 2017, Novalak moved up to single seaters winning the 2019 BRDC British Formula 3 title with Carlin and finishing third in the 2021 standings of the FIA Formula 3 Championship. A move to Formula 2 garnered another win with Trident Racing last season, but now Clement Novalak has his sights set on glory in the ELMS and beyond.
Novalak was due to make his endurance racing debut at the Daytona 24 in January, racing in LMP2 with his new team. However, a pit lane incident during the final practice session sidelined the French driver before he could compete in his first race. After suffering a fractured rib, Novalak has now recovered and is ready for the start of the ELMS season in April.
So w hat influenced Novalak to change from single seats to prototypes? “I have always enjoyed the longer format of races; being able to get yourself into the zone at the wheel of the car for multiple hours,” he said. “The format is a real challenge, and enjoyable as we get to work with other drivers. I've always been interested in endurance racing from a young age when I watched the 24 Hours of Le Mans with my dad.
“In saying that, this is a new challenge for me, it's very different from what I'm used to with the sprint races in Formula 2 and Formula 3, but I'm really looking forward to it,” Novalak continued.
“ELMS is good for me, with WEC not having the LMP2s on the calendar anymore, ELMS now has so much racing talent within the championship and this means, that it will be harder to perform well. Inter Europol Competition are a mega team, they have great experience at the highest level of sportscar competition, and I am delighted to be racing with them this year.”
The next obvious question is how the Oreca 07 compares to the single seaters Clement Novalak has raced up to now. “Surprisingly, the car is not too different to what I have been used to,” Novalak admitted. “While heavy, it still has a single-seater vibe! The tires are more complaint than what we had in Formula 2, so overall, it feels similar, and I felt at home from the get-go.
“You can change your driving style and the car responds well, it does what you want so you can play around with it. It’s been extremely enjoyable getting to know the car and hopefully, we’ll be fast out of the box in Barcelona.”
Another new thing that Clement Novalak will have to learn and that is sharing a car. So how does he approach sharing a race car with two other drivers for the first time? “I'm looking forward to working alongside them both to try and extract as much performance as we car from the car and have some fun on the way!
“I don't know either particularly well. Luca (Ghiotto) was someone I looked up to in Formula 3 in my formative years, as he raced against the likes of Callum Ilott and those guys. Ollie (Gray), I know of, he's been in F3 and did a season with Carlin, as did I, so I expect we can share some stories and experiences.”
The competition in the ELMS is always fierce but with 22 LMP2s on the grid, 14 in LMP2, this season is likely to be tougher than ever for the overall title. So how is Clement Novalak approaching the start of the season and what is the goal for his debut year in Le Mans Prototypes? “For sure it's going to be the toughest LMP2 grid in the history of ELMS. There are so many professional drivers joining the series, so it’s going to be a huge challenge,” he admitted. “From my side, I unfortunately fractured a rib in Daytona, so I have not been able to be in the gym as much as I would like, but I have been around the sport and will do as much as I can physically, use the simulator, talk to the engineers and test when I can.
“I'll approach each race weekend as a standalone event, and not think too much about the championship. My job is to maximize everything in the car and the added benefits of having two teammates on the same car is, that we pool our knowledge and feedback to adapt and develop together.”
With six of the most challenging circuits in Europe the ELMS offers a good variety of challenges. So which circuit is Clement Novalak looking forward to the most? “I've had the pleasure of racing on all of the tracks, and to be honest, while there's only six rounds, they are probably the best circuits in Europe.
“It's difficult to pick and choose a favorite, but for me, Le Castellet is a home race and will therefore be special. The elevation changes make Spa-Francorchamps a favorite of many drivers, and for me Imola is one to look forward to with the flowing layout and great atmosphere.”
So what does Clement Novalak get up to when he is not racing? “For me, it is important to be able to switch off, outside of racing. I really enjoy playing tennis and watching football with friends. I'm starting a business at the moment – related to motorsport – so that is taking up quite a lot of my time away from the racetrack.
“I think once you're an athlete, you always enjoy – and respect tremendously – others excelling in other sports. So apart from sitting on the couch watching F1, its football, tennis, and golf; plenty to do in the time I do have off!”
The opening round of the 2024 European Le Mans Series, the 4 Hours of Barcelona, will take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain on Sunday April 14.

Just a thing about all the JHR - Ilott - Canapino thing. I wanted to clarify that all the people (I saw non-latinos stating this around social media) saying latinos live everything with passion and that this is how we usually feel about sports events (shouldn’t be used to justify death threats of any kind) are using this narrative for hate speech. I find this statement pretty offensive and it’s a fucking stereotype (border-lining the racism-xenophobia) specially when it’s coming from Americans or Europeans saying these assholes sending death threats represent a whole country/culture. They don’t. They are idiots and assholes who are abusing and harassing someone. All cultures/countries have disgusting people, not only Argentina. I don’t see you all rushing to point the country so fast when it’s an European country.
Some of you are using google translate trying to make us look like we are all against Callum or all the comments are death threats. They are not and you are missing a lot in the translation of some interviews. I’m a fan, I stand by Callum 100% against this behaviour but stop saying “Argentinians are like this”, “What can you expect from them” or “They are just like this uncivilised all the time”. As a whole nation is a piece of shit. The problem is when you start using the “they” and generalise. It’s a very small portion of people and not all the fans are threatening Callum (although for me those are not even fans, just abusive assholes), some of them are questioning his race actions which is not the same as a death threat (again, I don’t think death threats are ok)
Wishing that JHR and Canapino are more vocal (I agree with this) DOES NOT give you the right to discriminate or being a piece of shit yourself towards us like all the assholes that are threatening Callum. I myself got hate on another platform for just pointing out that Canapino moved under breaking and was the one to blame for the crash. Also excuse me but “Callum and Cate should be scared of visiting Argentina”? First, again, small portion of idiots sending death threats, we are not all like this. Secondly, I don’t see people saying that when some Max fans, who are probably mostly dutch, are bullying or being aggressive towards another driver like Lewis or viceversa. Of course not, cause The Netherlands and Great Britain are first world European countries.

I’m currently on the fence about Nyck De Vries, is he unlucky or has he been flattered by results once his biggest competitors have moved on?
Let me start this saying Nyck has more than proved himself. F2 champion, finished 4th the year before behind George, Lando and Alex in a season the 4 of them pretty much dominated F2. Formula E Champion. Karting World Champion. Test and reserve driver for Mercedes. Sim driver for Mercedes and McLaren. The guy has the CV. There is just one question mark. His age.
Nyck at 27 is roughly the same age as Carlos who is in his 8th season of F1.
Now recently, rightly or wrongly I’ve been using Lando Norris as a bench mark. Hear me out. Lando came to F1 at 19, but had his super licence at 18, the first opportunity he could get it. Now I grant you, Lando flew through the series and he went right through, karting, MSA, Formula 4, Toyota Series, Formula Renault Eurocup, Formula 3, Formula 2. (No fast track from F3 al la Verstappen or Stroll). He competed every level and won everything on the first attempt, except F2 which he was vice champion, but by that point it didn’t matter, he had enough super licence points prior to F2 and an F1 seat for the following year.
So theoretically, with enough talent, backing and determination, under the new super licence rules you could get to F1 at 18/19.
So I therefore looked at the people the same age as Lando and how long after him them got to F1. Mick Schumacher followed Lando through the ranks. They both couldn’t win in the same year so this was still impressive. He arrived two years later. Callum Ilott was F1 ready the same year. Filipe Drugovich has taken 3 seasons of F2 to get on F1’s radar and even now he’s not seriously being considered. The list of drivers languishing in F3, F2, Indycar and god knows what else, who are 22/23ish now is painful.
So why does this concern Nyck?
Well because realistically Nyck was at the front of the queue. He was McLaren’s development driver before Lando even got in a single seater. F1 knew who he was a decade ago, but slowly Carlos Sainz, Charles Le Clerc, George Russell, Max Verstappen, then Lando, now Oscar Piastri became the ones that were touted as F1’s future stars. The big teams scrambled to sign them up instead and get them in an F1 seat as soon as humanly possibly.
27 is old by today’s standards to make an F1 debut. Was it deserved, absolutely. So why has he had to wait so long?
And this is my question. Is Nyck De Vries a talented driver that has just been unlucky, wrong place wrong time, not in fashion enough, no big money behind him to get the shot he deserves. Overtaken in the queue by the latest young superstar.
OR
Did Monza, a track that was always going to be strong for Williams flatter him and, had he made his debut in Bahrain or Australia as most of the others, would he have struggled? 🤷‍♀️
More importantly why haven’t teams moved for him before? The only instance I can find is the 2019 Red Bull too many seats not enough drivers saga. With Lando out of Red Bull’s grasp and Nyck realising he’d lost his shot at the McLaren seat, he asked McLaren if he could be released to Alpha Tauri. They said no. Presumably having just promoted one test driver, they didn’t want to lose the other. But then why was he not considered in the mess of seats in 2021, or given the Williams seat for 2022? Is there some reason teams don’t want to work with him? Is there data that says the others were just faster, better, more consistent?
Here’s the crazy thing though. Until he gets a full season we have no way of knowing. And if no one gives him a seat, we’ll never know.

Callum Ilott talks racing accidents, tragedy and mental health
Callum Ilott pauses, takes a deep breath and prepares to answer.
It seems a pretty straightforward question to deliver a response to: are racing drivers affected after a crash or seeing a team-mate or rival have an accident? But it’s a deeply personal topic for the 22-year-old.
The Formula 1 rising star saw the aftermath of a tragic collision at Spa during his F2 days which claimed the life of his close friend Anthoine Hubert and seriously injured team-mate Juan Manuel Correa.
Ilott’s retort after taking some time to consider his thoughts shows the long-lasting effects of the heartbreaking incident. But it also begins to help reveal the psychology of racing drivers and how they deal with the inevitable dangers that come with driving at speeds of 200mph or more.
Callum Ilott opens up about the death of Anthoine Hubert
“To satisfy my own mental state I spent that whole evening and the next day analysing what happened,” the Ferrari Academy Driver said of the 2019 crash.
“In my mind I almost completely understood why it happened and it felt easier to accept it. I go through it and piece it together. I’d lost a good friend and my team-mate was fighting for his life. It was an ongoing process to deal with it.
“You can’t change what happened but he’d (Anthoine) changed me – not because of the accident – but because of how he was, how he influenced people and I took quite a few lessons from him. I took it upon myself to make changes, inspired by him.
“Everyone says ‘you’re doing it (racing) for him’, but I’d rather take the lessons that he gave me as it’s a greater impact than doing it for him. It can happen to anyone and you have to take every chance and moment you get in life, that was one of the lessons I took. It helped change my values and understanding of some things.”
Karting isn’t the safest but neither is rugby, says F1 talent
Like almost all professional drivers, the Cambridge-born talent started out in karting where he “enjoyed the speed” rather than feared it. His biggest concern was making mistakes.
Even though he saw people roll their karts and break their collarbones, his safety was more of a concern to his mum than himself as he continued to calculate and process the risk – a method that remains to this day.
Ilott said: “A lot of possibilities have to come together and at least nine times out of 10 you can get away with a crash and maybe one time you don’t.
“Karting wasn’t the safest thing but then you could say neither was rugby at school, all it takes is someone to do a high tackle or you fall funny and you could be in hospital or a wheelchair for the rest of your life. Anything can happen but I don’t look at things in a negative way.
“When it’s someone close to you that has an accident there’s obviously emotion attached to it. But it’s all facts and statistics for me. At the end of the day you’re in this sport and you’re in this position. If the stats were a bit higher then I think I would be concerned but at the moment you just hope it doesn’t happen to you. A lot of improvements continue to be made in terms of safety too.”
Alfa Romeo reserve relives dramatic Formula 1 test crash
So what happens when it’s you who is involved in an accident? When you have a massive smash that leaves you seriously injured or feeling incredibly lucky to be alive?
Ilott, a reserve for Alfa Romeo, had his biggest crash while testing for the team two years ago. He’d just set his best lap of the day at Barcelona on his F1 test debut when the rear snapped in a fast right-hander and sent him careering into the barriers at around 130mph.
“You have to crack back on,” admitted the 2020 F2 runner-up.
“Whilst you’ve got time you can feel sorry for yourself and punish yourself. It can be a greater lesson than moving on. For one week I don’t think anyone could really talk to me. Physically I was almost completely fine, I had a bit of pain in my back, but it was all mental. To me it was more related to my career.
“It was a big moment to have and then to have that end result, in crashing, so I was more worried about my career. In one or two weeks I was back in Formula 2, it was a distraction to get going again. You can get out of the spiral and get on with what you’re doing. You learn your lesson and take the best side of it.”
Being a passenger unsettles the Ferrari Academy starlet
The Adrian Flux-sponsored driver says it takes him within three corners to know the limit, within 5%, of the vehicle he is operating.
And he is sure that’s what sets professionals aside from anyone who steps behind the wheel of a car.
“Depending on the car and conditions, I will drive to how I feel safe,” concluded Ilott, set to make his IndyCar debut in America next weekend.
“On an Autobahn in Germany in the wet, I won’t go above 150kmh (93mph), at risk of aquaplaning. In dry, I can push to 300kmh (186mph) easily and as long as there’s no traffic I won’t worry. I’m aware of limits. I’m very happy to take a car to 300 and wouldn’t bat an eye, I’d quite enjoy it. If I was in the passenger seat, and someone took it to 300, I’d be very nervous.
“I’ve been on track days with friends and I’m helping them out a bit and straight away they go out and I’m like: ‘Woah, woah, woah, woah, you don’t realise how close you are to the limit already. You can’t push that much more and control the car’. A lot of people can drive but it’s always the last little bit and understanding what to do when it’s not perfect conditions.
“It’s very natural with us because we train. A marathon runner knows what pace they can run at all the time and what will last them until the end of the race. It’s the same as a cyclist – if they start to push over the limit they know when they’ll drop off at the end.
“I wouldn’t say we’re wired differently, racing drivers just know the limits of what we’re in and what we can do a lot more than other people. We’re very aware of the limits of each car we get in. It’s all calculated and you can feel and understand where that is and it automatically enters your brain. My body will say ‘that’s your limit’ and you just know depending on the conditions.”
What is professional racing driver Callum Ilott afraid of?
So does anything scare a man who flies around a track knowing one slight mistake could see him hurtling towards a tyre wall, giant slab of concrete or a huge metal barrier at high speed?
“I don’t like the unknown,” added Ilott who is dreaming of an F1 seat in 2022.
“When I was younger, I don’t mind it so much now, but when you’re snorkelling and you get to the edge of the reef and there’s the drop off – you’re staring down and you think ‘what the hell is down there, how far does it go?’
“It’s not the dark, but what’s inside it? Your mind becomes the enemy. Whatever you think is down there, is down there. That’s something I’ve gradually got used to because I’ve learned why. I don’t like spiders either, but I’m not scared of them.”

racy in red - Callum Ilott
Tumblr media
Y/N x Callum Ilott
Theme: Smutish, Teasing, Touching, Swearing (not too explicit)
Callum invites you to watch his Ferrari test day, and you enjoy seeing him in his red racing suit x
word count: 700+
When you met Callum one year ago, you couldn’t even imagine what life had in store for the two of you, but one day, he invited you to accompany him during his Ferrari Drivers Academy test and you couldn’t be happier. Now, Callum left about 20 minutes ago, for his fitting, and you find yourself waiting in the lounge, your heart racing in anticipation of seeing him, wearing the red racing suit.
Nervously, you cling onto your phone, your whole body tensing more and more with every breath you take when suddenly, the door flings open, with a few people coming through it, everyone wearing Ferrari shirts, pants shoes, and caps. You stand there and watch them walk by until you spot Callum in the midst of them. As soon as he spots you, your gaze meets his face, his eyes shining brightly just his smile is even bigger.
“Callum, damn.” You say breathlessly as he puts his hands firmly at your waist, pulling you closer to him. “Am I looking okay?” He smirks, knowing very well how good he looks right now, and, that you love to see him wearing his racing suits. “More than okay.” You say, your eyes wandering down to his chest, his arms, then even lower to his crotch, his thighs right to his shoes. Your heart beating fast, your pulse racing, and your hands shaking slightly, you put one hand right on his chest, stroking him gently, feeling his body react to every little movement of your finger even through his clothes.
Callum gives you a playful grin, putting one finger under your chin to lift your face to his gaze, and the longer you stare into his eyes, the more you want him, undressing slowly while you’re watching him, dropping one piece of clothing at a time. However, before you can say another word, you can hear someone calling for him right behind the two of you. “Are you ready, Callum?” One man says, also dressed in red. “Uh, yeah, can I get five minutes?” He says nervously, his grip tightening at your waist.
Hesitating, you turn your face to look at that man, whose gaze shifts between you and Callum, before he nods, smiling weakly. “You have five minutes.” He says and leaves the two of you alone in the lounge. You turn back to meet Callum’s eyes once more when he smirks mischievously and raises both of his eyebrows. “Is that okay?” He licks his lower lip quickly, while you keep on stroking his chest firmly. “I can work with that.” You breathe heavily, lay an arm around his neck, and pull him into a loving kiss. Once your lips meet him, you can feel every part of your body reacting to all of him.
His hands carefully wander along your waistline, until he firmly grabs your butt, holding you in place while the kiss gets more and more passionate with his tongue exploring every corner of your mouth, leaving drops of his sweet taste on your tongue and lips. “That feels good.” You moan deeply, one hand still at his neck, the other slowly unzipping his suit, just enough that your hand can slip inside it, now stroking his chest through his fireproofs. “Fuck.” He groans, slowly leaning his head back, giving both of you a chance to breathe while you feel his chest heaving right into the palm of your hand.
“You like that?” You smirk knowingly, your hand now wandering around his neck, one finger tracing his firm jawline to his chin so that your thumb can trace the outlines of his soft lips. “You know that.” He grunts, lowering his head again to look right into your eyes. Now, he places both of his hands at your neck, cupping your cheeks gently. “As much as I hate to say it, but I should go.” You nod comfortingly and separate from him, but before you have the chance to take a step back, he pulls you into another long and loving kiss.
“We can get back to it tonight.” You giggle quietly, closing his suit again and tenderly stroke him one last time, before both of you head towards the garage for the exciting testing day.

Sad for Valtteri? Sad for a fossil who is actively taking the place of another young driver, same could be said about Alonso and Kimi - thank God Kimi retired but you know who could've taken his place??? Callum. That's who. But noooo we get Valtteri Bottas who is fast on Saturdays but either kamikazes himself and others on Sundays, or acts like he's driving a tractor, when he's actually driving the best car on the grid. The man had one job on Sunday and that was to hold max behind him after that first pit stop. That lasted for 1 lap. Just goes to show how useless he is. Also tried to take the fastest lap point from Lewis - what kind of teammate is that? A horrible one. He's got a bad attitude and reminds me of LN4, another driver who thinks he's something when in reality will never amount to anything except being the third best in a handful of races and maybe the 15th best brit overall, while his two countrymen on track rn will go down in history as the best duo of all time.
Valtteri should've retired. End of.
First off, fossil? Valtteri is 32. That's 4 less than Lewis. I'm pretty sure Lewis is doing well, and even Jenson retired when he was around 36ish. Mark Webber retired when he was 37. Valtteri has AT LEAST 4 years before he considers retiring F1.
Alonso and Kimi are great drivers who have achieved a lot in their time. Refer to Fernando's performance at Hungary 21. Not a lot of drivers could've held Lewis back like that. As for Kimi, he makes the most of the car every weekend and he's really helping Jesus unlock his powers.
Callum Ilott, so many things to say about Callum. But before that, let's keep in mind that no one 'deserves' a seat. Everyone on the grid has worked their ass off to be where they are (maybe except one), but you could replace these 20 with another set and you'd still get quality performances. I don't want to say that these drivers aren't the best, but the thing is there are too many skilled drivers and too few seats. Take Nyck de Vries for example, winner of F2, winner of Formula E (where many ex-F1 drivers are), but still vying for a chance in an uncompetitive Williams. I think Alfa made the right choice picking an experienced driver for the regulation changes of 2022, and well, VB worked in Mercedes. He knows a thing or too about championship winning cars. I'd love for Callum to get a seat, he would definitely do well there, but will he get it? We don't know.
Let's talk about driving like a tractor (Thank you for the imagery XD). I'd agree that Sunday wasn't his best performance, but you need to remember that he's been a 'Team Player' for close to 5 years now. His performance is constantly compared to LEWIS fricking HAMILTON, one of the greatest, if not THE GREATEST driver of all time. Right now, Mercedes isn't the best car on the grid, but when it WAS- take 2019 and 2020- he did come in second place. Dutch GP was bit of a disaster for Mercedes in terms of strategy, but come on anon, was that last minute pit-stop necessary?
Let's hear something from the man himself, shall we?
Tumblr media
"The best teammate I've had the pleasure of working with-" Sure, maybe it is a PR stunt, but he said IT. That's what matters most here.
Lando Norris- Ehmm Problematic, but he is skilled. He's consistently scoring points and has good pace overall. He's outscoring Ricciardo, his much experienced teammate.
So no. Valtteri Bottas is not useless. You don't become a 7x WCC with useless drivers.

The voicemail drivers left you
(With some FDA drivers, Nico Hulkenberg and Oscar Piastri)
This is pure fiction and just a way to have fun, in any way I want to fanatize on the drivers. I respect all drivers private life and their girlfriends (who I don’t know) too. So just enjoy it and don’t believe I secretly have a desire on one of them 😉
Mick Schumacher :
Baby baby, where are you ? And don’t lied to me, I know you are there. I knew it, the all “I need to study I really can’t go to Russia” thing was a lie. Ahah you nearly got me baby c’mon show me your beautiful face.
Callum Ilott :
C’mon sweetheart, answer me. I will not give up on us. We will make this work, I will make us work. Please call me, let’s talk, let’s just go over everything. I need you so badly. I love you sweetheart, call me please.
Robert Shwartzman :
Sweetie, I’m home, where are you ? You told me you will be there all day, did anything happened? Call me the fast you can. I love you.
Arthur Leclerc :
Salut mon cœur, I just had my brother on the phone and him and Cha are invited us to a dinner next Saturday, oh no it’s not Saturday, wait what day is it ? I think is Sunday but I’m not sure anymore. Well I will call him back but at least you know. Je t’aime and I call him.
Nico Hulkenberg :
Beauty, I’m at the park with Zeus. I called you because I wanted to told you a dramatic story that happened just now. We were near the river and Zeus saw another dog and get scared. I don’t know how but he just unleashed himself and jump into the water. I did the same to save him and conclusion, we are both wet and looking ridiculous. I’m definitely not ready to have a baby, will he jump into the river too ? Anyways, we will be back home shortly. We love you.
Oscar Piastri :
Good evening my little sweetie, it’s our favorite austie. I was on the point to go to bed, I wanted to have a little chat with you but apparently you’re busy. Call me when you can, I really want to hear your voice. I love you

Anxiety is asleep, post Lust arc headcanons
Nylpho was the daughter of the leader of a decently sized “tribe” native to Asmodean. Her marriage to Ilotte was part of an effort to create closer ties between ethnic Asmodeans and the Beelzenian nobility.
At the time of their marriage, Nylpho was 18 and Ilotte was 29. Ilotte had chosen to put off marriage until he he became duke.
Nylpho was an incredibly sweet, affectionate person who also happened to be a bit flighty and overemotional. Ilotte was a textbook psychopath, with an external charm but inability to form meaningful relationships with people on an emotional level. Nylpho, due to her personality and eagerness to be a good wife, was the one exception in his life and, as a result, he put her up on a pedestal in his mind as the perfect woman.
Sati’s mom, Avelina, was a friend of Nylpho’s. She was prompted by her father and brother to become close with the Venomania’s as part of their plan to establish themselves among the Asmodean nobility, but her affection for Nylpho was genuine. Ilotte proposing to her relatively soon after Nylpho’s death was quite a shock, but she graciously accepted and enjoyed her time as duchess.
Witnis was married to Annlee and the couple had twins. Life was good for a few months until Irina passed through their village. She set a house on fire for fun and the fire soon spread to encompass the town. Witnis and Annlee got out, but the children were left inside. Annlee sent Witnis back in for them, but he hesitated at a crucial moment and part of the burning roof caved in on him, knocking him unconscious. The twins died in the fire and Annlee couldn’t forgive Witnis for failing to save her children, resulting in them eventually separating.
Ilotte hired Witnis as a guard on a whim while Nylpho was heavily pregnant. He was in a good mood and needed more security as Nylpho got closer to giving birth.
Nylpho went mad with guilt after Cherubim was born and was in somewhat of a daze leading up to her suicide. She visited the nursery to say goodbye and had a brief interaction with Witnis, who had been stationed to guard the room. Nylpho started to break down while she was talking to Cherubim, and Witnis, deciding to try and comfort her, ended up making what at the time seemed like a redundant promise to protect her son for her.
Ilotte flew into a rage after Nylpho’s body was returned to the mansion and it was determined there was nothing to be done. He tore off to the nursery and nearly stabbed Cherubim before he was blocked by Witnis, who, not wanting to watch another baby die, managed to convince him that Nylpho wouldn’t have wanted him to murder their child. The basement was Ilotte’s compromise; punish/utterly remove the child from his life while still not technically killing it (even if he half expected Cherubim to die from exposure regardless).
As a toddler, Cherubim had all the hallmarks of a feral child, and it was only because Witnis realized this and decided to disobey Ilotte’s orders to simply stand guard and not pay him any mind that this outcome was avoided. Cherubim was still delayed and stunted when it came to speech/emotional/etc. development, but he did at least grow to be somewhat functional.
Cherubim hated most things about himself, but as a teenager/young adult he became particularly insecure about his stunted physical development. He was very small and skinny and a result of chronic malnutrition and most people, assuming he was much younger than he actually was, treated him as if he were a child. This resentment was aggravated by the fact that Cherubim did not fully understand concepts like masculinity and sexuality and therefore couldn’t articulate, even to himself, why he felt so insecure about such things to begin with.
It cannot be overstated how dramatically Cherubim’s upbringing affected his personal development. He only had a rudimentary understanding of many basic concepts and never reached a level of emotional maturity higher than that of a child. Even as Duke Venomania, many people were shocked by how little he understood many things, although by that point he had reached a level of confidence where people could write off his ignorance as a personality quirk rather than assuming he was “affected” as had frequently happened in his previous life.
Cherubim was incredibly clingy, both physically and emotionally; a trait that persisted even after the contract. While he was unaccustomed to positive physical contact, he desperately craved it. In the sin swap AU, when given license by Gumina, he basically never let stopped touching her and Sati, always wanting to be close to them and panicking when they had to separate, much to Sati’s discomfort. (basically, if he wasn’t afraid you were going to hit him, personal space didn’t exist for Cherubim)
The Venomania boys were basically the only people Gumina felt safe to let her walls down around. To everyone else she was cold and haughty, but with the brothers she was bright and fun loving. Sati’s betrayal and the eventual realization that Cherubim was Duke Venomania caused her to retreat progressively further into herself until she eventually reached a breaking point.
Although he never fully acknowledged it, Sati was rather traumatized by finding out about Cherubim’s existence. Up until that point he had thought of his father as this perfect, rational force in his life, and discovering that he had the capacity to treat one of his own children so horrifically shook him to his core. From that point onward, there was always a small, private fear in his mind that, if he crossed his father one to many times, he would punish him in just as terrible a way as he punished Cherubim. Of course, this never came to pass, but it did inform Sati’s lack of conviction when it came to helping Cherubim in any substantial way after getting him released from the basement.
Cherubim and Sateriasis did not look as though they were siblings, although if you took the time to look closely, you could notice some striking similarities. Cherubim was small and starved-looking, while Sateriasis was tall and athletically built; Cherubim inherited his mother’s curly hair, which he wore short, while Sati’s was long and pin-straight; Sati’s skin was a few shades lighter than Cheri’s, and Cheri had his mother’s abnormal luminous green eyes while Sati’s were a normal, handsome shade of brown (purple and blue in the main verse). However, they both inherited the same hooked nose and front tooth gap from their father, although Sati eventually got his gap fixed on a visit to Beelzenia (this was rather heartbreaking for Cherubim since it was one of the few traits they actually had in common).
Cherubim would not have been nearly as unnerving upon first glance were it not for the physical abuse he endured. The chronic malnutrition left him bony and hollow-looking; as a child, he had sustained an infection in his eye that left it milky white and blind; the facial deformity was not merely cosmetic and actually grew/worsened, resulting in the surrounding skin becoming purple-ish and veiny; and the various physical injuries he sustained from the other servants, local bullies, etc. left him constantly cut and bruised, with some wounds turning into lasting, jagged scars.
Gumina’s mother died when she was very young. On this level, she could somewhat relate to Cherubim, both having never known their mothers.
Cherubim was very taken with the flowers in the mansion’s garden, although he didn’t often get a chance to work with them.
AU where Cherubim never acquires language. Witnis, Sateriasis, and Gumina construct an informal sign language system with him, but hardly any of the other servants care to learn it. As the majority of them are also illiterate, Cherubim feels even more trapped as he literally cannot get anyone to pay any mind to what he has to say. During the big breakdown day, Sateriasis and Gumina both refused to pay attention to what he was trying to sign at them, and, after the stab, the reason Venomania couldn’t call out to Gumina is that he has once again lost the ability to communicate verbally.
Although he never told him, Witnis really did love Cherubim as a son and was constantly eaten at by guilt both before and after their separation in regards to him not doing more to take care of Cherubim or not being brave enough to take him and flee the mansion.
Ilotte was the first person to die in the Venomania massacre. After the engagement party concluded, Ilotte, having seen Cherubim and Gumina’s confrontation, went off to find Cherubim, who had run off after Gumina’s rejection and hadn’t been seen since. He found him curled up in the corner of a corridor and proceeded to tell him how disgusted he was by his audacity to speak to Gumina in public and his ungratefulness to both he and Sateriasis for their generosity to him, even indicating that he was going to lock him back in the basement as punishment. At that moment, Cherubim pulled a knife that he had taken from the kitchens earlier that day and, in a fit of rage, grief, and desperation, stabbed his father directly in the heart. Cherubim was in such a dissociative state afterwards that the killing might have stopped there had another servant not come in to investigate the noise.
Sateriasis was the last person to die in the massacre. He slept through the majority of it before being awoken by a scream and discovering that dozens of servants had been murdered. He shrieked and ran for help before running into Cherubim, who he did not immediately recognize as the murderer. However, that realization came fast and soon a chase began. Sateriasis made it all the way to the foyer before Cherubim, incensed by the idea of Sateriasis of all people getting away, lunged at him, tackling him down the staircase. On the way down, Sati cracked his head against one of the stairs and died only a few moments after reaching the bottom. Cherubim, seeing his brother rapidly slipping away, seized his knife and stabbed him, although he was just too late. Livid that the opportunity to exact revenge on Sateriasis had been taken from him, Cherubim began stabbing and mutilating the body in an absolute frenzy before gradually coming to his senses, realizing just what exactly he had done.
Avelina was very conflicted in regards to what should be done about Cherubim when she discovered he existed. Thanks to Sati’s insistence that he was, in fact, his brother, coupled with the distinctive green eyes Cherubim had inherited for Nylpho, Avelina very quickly put together that he was Nylpho’s lost son. She was absolutely horrified and demanded that Ilotte free him from his confinement. However, after Sateriasis and Cherubim were sent out of the room, Ilotte managed to convince her that, if Cherubim’s true identity was discovered, it would endanger Sateriasis’ claim to the dukedom and therefore he could not be allowed to go free. Avelina still could not allow Nylpho’s son to be sent back to the dungeons though, so the two of them eventually came to the agreement that Cherubim would work in the mansion as a servant. Sati was incensed by this plan as the whole reason he had revealed his knowledge about Cherubim was in hopes of getting him recognized as his brother, but Ilotte would not relent on the matter, and Cherubim, not fully comprehending the difference between the two options, did not try to fight it. Avelina always endeavored to treat Cherubim with kindness/understanding, but could never quite get past just how unnerving his mere existence was to her.
Cheri had an ingrained habit of staying quiet/silent even when in extreme pain/distress. There was such an emphasis put on staying quiet during his childhood that, even long after he was released from the basement, he would reflectively cover his mouth or bite his tongue when when he was unable to keep from crying out.
Cherubim’s name was derived from an Asmodean fairytale about a vain man who is transformed into a hideous monster by the gods as punishment for his hubris.
Gumina is “finish half a game of chess in one move” smart. Sati knows all the mechanics of chess and is good enough at it, but gets so caught up in the little details that he fails to notice the danger signs. Cherubim doesn’t know what chess is.
Asmodean/Lasaland was either just not being governed in EC 136 or Gumina was running things out of the basement, because Venomania didn’t have a clue or care in the world about how running a duchy actually worked.
Sateriasis is named after a great-grandfather of his from his mother’s side of the family.
The Venomania mansion housed about 50 people pre-massacre.
Sati is tol. Cherubim and Gumina are smol.
*concept* Cherubim: I want a father who‘s proud of me and a mother who looks after me Gilles and Irina: lol gross but okay i guess
