Lord Robert IV de Sable - Knights Templar

Born in Sable, Anjou, France, in the year 1150 AD, Robert de Sable IV was the 11th Grand Master Holy and Valient of the Knights Templar. He was a leader with King Richard's navy during the Third Crusade. In 1191, he helped defeat the army of Saladin at the Battle of Arsuf on the coast of Palastine. Two years later, Robert was killed in aaction. He was 43 years old at the time of his death.

How Disney has neutered their villains, an essay by a bored pumpkin

We all love Disney villains, they’re why some of us have a tumblr in the first place. A way to express our favorites to other people and/or give love to underrated villains. They’re also one of the most memorable things about Disney: their ability to create dark villains.

Many villains are so iconic that they show up at the theme parks and especially during October, with the Halloween season. However, I feel that ever since the 2000s, the villains have been toned down to the point where you can’t call them villains, only antagonists and bad guys.

So today, I’m gonna explain why I feel like this and why it’s kind of gotten sad too. Also, this is just my personal opinion, y’all don’t have to agree with me.

Anyways, rambling is below the cut.

First, let’s discuss the difference between a bad guy, an antagonist, and villain, as these terms get confused as being the same due to being similar.

A bad guy is the word that “antagonist” and “villain” namely tie into as they’re similars of it. But the definition that’s commonly used for it is your average criminal you see on the street.

An antagonist, while similar to a villain, is actually what the protagonist lacks and are the creators of conflicts. Think Abuela Alma from Encanto. She’s not the villain, but she’s an obstacle and brings conflict to Mirabel.

Now, a villain is what we’re all familiar with. Their actions are important to the plot; Ernesto poisoning Héctor, Maleficent cursing Aurora, etc. These are the most common of bad guys in media, and over the years, the Disney villains are starting to become the antagonist slightly.

The 30s up until the 90s was where the villains had no chill. The first Disney villain, The Evil Queen from Snow White, literally tried to poison her stepdaughter and also made a sort of blueprint for how villain should be.

Their design needs to be somewhat iconic, their voice needs to be menacing and cool, their deaths are horrifying, and their actions need to drive the plot along with downright brutal.

Exhibit A: Maleficent cursing Aurora as a baby

Exhibit B: McLeach having no issue with attempted child murder

Exhibit C: Scar literally murdering his brother in front of his nephew

And so on and so forth.

Each of these villains have something iconic about them, and their actions are memorable while also very dark. But the villains are also both funny and menacing. You only really need a dark villain when the story asks for it, and in my opinion, there are two villains who do their job right of being a dark as fuck villain.

Judge Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

We all know about Frollo so I’ll give a brief summary of him. Basically, this dude is fucking insane. He also represents three of the Seven Deadly Sins: Pride, Wrath, and of course Lust. He lusted after the gypsy, Esmeralda, basically set Notre Dame ablaze, and tried to kill Quasimodo once as a baby and when he was an adult.

With HOND being a dark story, it makes sense as to why Frollo would be dark and it checks out. He also checks out the blueprints set by Grimhilde: his actions are dark, his voice and design are iconic, and his death is horrifying; literally showing that he’s going to Hell.

Now what about Judge Doom? Why is he so dark?

Well if you remember correctly, Judge Doom is technically a toon. But not just any toon: he is the toon that murdered Eddie Valient’s brother by dropping a piano on his head. And that’s not all.

Doom made a liquid that can permanently kill a toon: The Dip. It’s made out of paint thinners, which are used to erase a cartoon on the drawing board. And when we see that Doom is a toon, you realize: “Holy shit, this dude made something to kill his own kind.”

Doom had NO issue with destroying ToonTown. He wanted money AND to him, he thought it was funny.

And like Frollo, Doom immediately checks out with the blueprints: iconic design, iconic voice, actions are horrifying and drive the plot, and lets just say that, in my opinion, Doom’s death (and Doom in general) traumatized a generation of kids and adults.

These two villains are perfect examples of having dark villains for dark movies. And all of the other Disney villains are perfect examples of being funny and dark for kids movies. However, I feel like the moment the 2000s rolled around, things changed.

The 2000s and so on was definitely a time where people started to get more sensitive and kiddish, and Disney was no exception. Of course, they did make movies that are somewhat hardcore, but the same cannot be said for their villains.

Alameda Slim, Captain Gantu, Bowler Hat Guy. They all fill out the blueprints like their predecessors, but something felt off. They felt more toned down. Dark, yes, but it was definitely very kiddish than what we’ve been accustomed to the previous years. And it should be noted that this was when Disney started to slow down on killing their villains.

The two villains I feel that are like their predecessors are Dr. Facilier and Rourke. Their actions were dark, their whole aura was iconic, but their deaths were also pretty hardcore too.

Rourke was turned into a crystal and was literally shattered onscreen, and Facilier was dragged into Hell/the Loa ONSCREEN AND WE SAW HIS GRAVESTONE.

So, you see where I’m going with this? These two villains felt like they were from the 30s-90s, while everyone else felt like they were just PGd into oblivion.

The 2010s and forward was where the title of “villain” was completely lost. Of course, there are exceptions. King Candy/Turbo was a great comeback and Mother Gothel was awesome too, but that was it. Disney instead turned to Pixar’s motive for villains: twist villains.

The unholy trilogy of Disney’s twist villains are obviously Hans, Callaghan, and the sheep from Zootopia. And this is also where the blueprints set by Grimhilde were lost.

So let’s do this. Ignore Gothel and Turbo and only think of the villains after them. Can you name a single memorable thing about them? Any iconic lines? Can you remember their designs? Yeah, it’s pretty hard. Well, that’s my point.

These villains can only be called “antagonists” and “bad guys” because that’s how Disney sets them up to be. They’re so toned down that it kind of feels wrong to call them villains because what they do, while still dark and drives the plot, is just so kiddy.

Of course, you don’t need a villain with every movie. Encanto and Winnie the Pooh are good examples. YES, Abuela Alma was an ANTAGONIST, but she redeemed herself in the end and that movie was namely focused on the family trauma and Mirabel.

You might be thinking, “Sp00ks. Is this really necessary? Disney is just trying to make things appropriate for younger audiences.”

I’m sorry, but for the past 90 years, if this company has been showing their villains to be dark as Hell and have them be evil evil, yeah I’m gonna notice these changes.

So that’s why I believe that, in my opinion and based on what I’ve been seeing, Disney has been neutering their villains.

I haven’t seen Strange World, so I don’t know if that movie has a villain or not, but at this point I don’t care, which is disappointing.

Disney Villains are so memorable and it’s saying a lot when you can’t remember their villains from 10 years ago, but you can remember their villains from almost a century ago.

alternate jaune weapons

@heliosthegriffin figured i should actually discribe the weapons of other jaune's assuming they actually use them. first up is the golden blade: since he doesn't get the added speed boost and mythic feats super hero jaune does most of what he can do comes from his sword, and scabard. his scabard gives him regeneration 5 and endless so he's effectively immortal so long as no one takes it from him. his sword on the other hand is a bastard sword with impact, dueling, and valiant on it. it also counts as a rod of splendor making his charisma super human (this jaune also picked up almost exclusively charisma boosting items to help out and eventually found a tome of leadership and influence +5) all together jaune's charisma should be 41 in this au, but keep in mind that's at the end of the build. at level ten it should be more like 30. still really fucking high but that's just a headband of alluring charisma, which this jaune exclusively upgraded. this makes not only intimidation far easier but makes his civilian persona much more influential. all in all it's pretty simple but the sword does 2d8 damage every swing with an extra 1d6 if he challenged that person before hand. and a solid +4 to disarm and feinting, attempts from dueling and valient. with a +6 on defence against those same checks, and a +4 on initiative checks. keep in mind this weapon has no enhancement bonuses though.

oddly enough the sword itself can only be used by a hero. so golden blade's weapon requires he be lawful and not evil. but being heroic doesn't mean being nice and if this jaune can end a fight before it begins he'll do it

superhero jaune has the handwraps of mighty deeds. having no other weapons or bonuses he's invested a lot in these, giving them a +5 enhancement bonus and the holy and merciful traits. this means the weapons give a plus 5 to attack rolls and damage rolls and with his superhero costume (monks robes) his unarmed attacks now do 1d8+5+ 3d6 against evil creatures, (evil being selfish beings so most creatures are evil that;s just how it goes lol) and that's before adding in all of the bonuses of his build. wizzard jaune has mainly spent his money on his spells but he does have a +3 revolver with a bandolier that telliports the bullets into his gun meaning he doesn't ever have to take time to reload. he is limited to only 200 rounds at a time though. but some of them have enchanted effects on them so they can do some wacky shit. everyone else is either utterly unarmed or using common weapons/ magical bullshit to handle everything.

that good for unique weapons? i tried to limit them to only what they would invest money into and gave golden blade jaune a boost to show that he's been at this longer and has more money to throw at magical items as a result.

Darius y Draven tienen una hermana menor

La vida había sido difícil para ustedes, tres pobres huérfanos luchando para sobrevivir , era una situación muy común en una época de guerra como la que Vivian, y aun mas difícil, con una hermana menor.

La pequeña había nacido tan solo dos meses antes de la muerte de sus padres, cuando ellos murieron sin duda los dejaron con una gran responsabilidad, bueno...mas bien a Darius ...el entendió rápidamente que a partir de ese momento sobrevivir se volvería un reto.

Los días posteriores a la muerte de sus padres, varias personas que los conocían se ofrecieron a ayudar, pero solo a la pequeña. Nadie quería hacerse responsable de un par de chiquillos a los que seria difícil controlar...querían al niña que ni siquiera tenia nombre para ese entonces.

Desde luego Darius se rehusó incluso Draven, arrojó una piedra a la cara de un infeliz que se atrevió a ofrecer dinero por la vida de su pequeña hermana como si de un objeto o ganado se tratara; no , eso jamás pasaría preferían morir de hambre antes que regalar o incluso vender a su hermana. Desde luego había gente que les decía los mismos sermones "¿cómo van a mantener a esa pequeña?, son solo niños como serán capaces de cuidarla...será un milagro si pasa los 5 años" ; siempre daban negativas hasta que dejaron de insistir.

-vaya por fin dejaron de insistir- un pequeño Draven exclamaba feliz -jamás vamos a dejar que te pase nada hermanita-dice haciendo caras para hacerla reír.

Darius sólo lo observaba, al principio, Draven se decepcionó al ver que había sido una niña y no otro varón con el cual jugar rudo y básicamente ser un brabucón, pero pronto ambos quedaron encantados con ella.

Draven aun era muy pequeño para entender la responsabilidad que es una niña de esa edad, Darius ya era un poco más grande el ya había experimentado lo que era cuidar a un bebé cuando Draven nació, el sabia lo básico de cuidar a un bebé, pero ahora era diferente, estaban solos sin una mamá que tranquilizara y cuidara a sus hijos ni un padre que les diera sustento ni protección ...ahora él tendría que hacerlo.

-esos tipos que son tontos si creen que entregaremos así de fácil a nuestra hermana, JA primero tendrán que enfrentarse al gran y poderoso ...DRAAAVEEEN!-grita orgulloso

-hermano esto no es un juego cuidar a un bebé es difícil, necesito que me ayudes mas que nunca debemos estar unidos-dijo serio el mayor

Darius sonrió, Draven aun era bastante joven, un niño orgulloso e ilusionado, pero tenia razón juntos conquistarían el mundo, y él no pararía de luchar por sus hermanos.

-¿y qué nombre le vamos a poner hermano?-pregunta a su hermano

-¿nombre...?-piensa un momento, una leve brisa sopla en los campos por donde paseaban, eran verdes y llenos de flores y árboles llenos de frutas, era uno de los pocos campos verdes que quedaban, a ese campo desde luego no duraría verde para siempre, tarde o temprano la guerra lo alcanzaría y quedaría marcado por ella, arrebatando toda la vida y dejando nada más que cenizas y muerte a su paso, tal y como paso en la vida de estos niños.

-no lo se...- ultima respuesta, ya tendrían tiempo para pensar en eso, ahora lo más importante era sobrevivir.

no sabia que era lo que le esperaría en el futuro, no sabia como iba a alimentarlos y cuidarlos era un reto que estaba dispuesto a aceptarlo cueste lo que cueste ellos sobrevivirían...

And yeah I guess in this AU him and Ferd are pretty much their universe's Geto & Gojo who were really close but eventually drifted apart cause Val's mental health went cray cray and he became a villain. Bones : Oh, straw doll technique. He's got the agility for it and I can definitely see him going around with a hammer in hand and using in even when not using it (ergo, to smash someone in the head).

Guapo : Construction. In which he can create objects as he wants, and when he wants. He mainly uses it for protection and almost never to strike someone, he's a kind soul😔

The Charge of the Goddess is attributed to Doreen Valiente, a student of Gerarld Gardner. The poem, originally found in the Gardnerian Book of Shadows, is now loved by all wiccans as a statement of reverence for the Goddess and Nature. Valiente used materials from the Gospel of Aradia by Charles Leland (1901), and Aleister Crowley's writings to compose the piece and it is commonly used to invoke the "Goddess" during Esbats and Sabbats. Other authors, such as Starhawk, have edited and added to the original Charge so you will see many different versions out there. Some contain all the original with added Starhawk material and some are just plain Valiente. Below I have a copy of the Starhawk adapted version melded with the original. Some Wiccans write their own Charge for ritual use whereas others choose to use a form of this Charge.

¿Porque este libro fue tan importante para la sociedad y sobre todo para las niñas que soñaban con ser escritoras?

Como se puede apreciar el titulo hablaremos por que este libro es tar importante y el impacto de el, también hablaré sobre mis opiniones acerca de la serie y el libro, otra cosa que quiero aclarar es que el libro sobre él que estoy hablando es el primer libro. Otra cosa que quiero aclarar es que las imágenes que ocupo como referencia o decoración son de la película ya que es una muy buena referencia a la presencia de los personajes.

Bueno, para introducir "por qué este libro es tan importante" tenemos que hablar sobre su fecha de publicacion y su impacto en la sociedad, este libro fue lanzado en 1908, al principio fue muy mal visto ya que al leer esta obra nadie podía creer como una niña pelirroja, que no cumplía sus estándares de belleza, podría trabajar o siquiera convencer a alguien de hacerlo “era mujer no? Ósea no podía hacer nada” pero si, era real.

Lucy, sin duda fue una mujer muy valiente al publicar esta novela que fue una inspiración para muchas niñas.

Se dice que Lucy se suicido debido a todas estas críticas, pero se crearon miles de teorías hablando de posibles enfermedades, aún que varios informes hablando sobre ella denominaron que la frase “Ella murió porque tenia trombosis” fue una escita para ocultar la misoginia que ella llevaba arrastrando desde que publicó su libro.

CONCLUSION

Este libro es importante porque fue una inspiración para muchas mujeres que querían ser escritoras o solo dejar llevar su imaginación en ese entonces, y una de mis historias favoritas de mujeres rompiendo el silencio en la sociedad.

Este fue mi segundo post tratando de hablar sobre la historia de esta maravillosa mujer y su novela espero que les haya gustado y nos vemos en el siguiente post!

En su momento hubo un apartado que estaba destinado a las dudas, quejas y sugerencias, pero este se modificó solo para dejar las sugerencias. Sin embargo, a raíz del revuelo causado por los malos entendidos o puntos de vista diferentes entorno a la última actualización, tomaremos tu sugerencia para poderla implementar en el foro próximamente junto con las modificaciones pertinentes entorno a las últimas normas implementadas.
