#his whole thing is that he's the last survivor of his tribe

Hi! Sorry if this has been asked before/you’ve answered this before, but I’m curious what you think of how Sokka acts just… overall.
To me, he’s always read as being someone who’s emotionally repressed, and doesn’t quite know how to deal with his emotions and blames himself for a lot, and micromanages as a way to try and overcompensate for things in his past that have been out of his control. (And he’s definitely a prodigy. I don’t think that, especially after the massacre, the southern water tribe would have many scrolls to read on, so it’s my personal hc to believe he taught himself physics lmao. But even without that, definitely a prodigy.) Who is, unfortunately, doomed by the narrative. But he’s still a loving guy, and very protective over his family.
But I’d love to see how someone else sees it! He’s one of my favorites ever lmao.
sorry for leaving this ask to fester in my inbox for over a month (hastily shoves away the asks i’ve been sitting on for multiple years) but at the time I had received a bunch of asks about sokka’s tormented psyche in quick succession, and I was trying to get through those first before approaching this broader, more open-ended question. I mean, obviously you could always just peruse my sokka tag, because at this point I’ve clocked so many hours analyzing him that it’s actually quite dire, and I’m pretty sure that you already have. but if I was to distill “sokka’s whole deal” into a few key sentences, I would first emphasize that his survivor’s guilt/martyr complex really underscores who he is and how he operates in any given situation in a crucial way.
I don’t think any of what you said in this ask is remotely incorrect, for the record, but focalizing the formative traumas that defined him: his mother’s sacrifice, and his father then passing that mantle onto him (in fairness, not deliberately on hakoda’s part, but when kya sets such a blatant precedent for what it means to “protect your sister,” it’s hard not to internalize that logic). he feels personally responsible and implicated in every single thing that could go wrong, because unlike katara, who (very understandably) gets angry when bad things happen and are done to her, sokka gets guilty. he was never able to process his grief in a remotely healthy way, so he has internalized that his singular role above all else is to die so that others may live, without ever actually acknowledging that this mentality is a byproduct of his trauma (because, like you said, he is absurdly repressed), and he feels guilty every time he is unable to prevent anything bad that happens to anyone he cares about, whether it’s remotely his fault or not.
he wants control over every situation because he feels responsible and thus guilty no matter what happens. not only is control the one thing he has, but he’s even more controlling when leaving his tribe because unlike with his grandmother, whom he trusts, he does not trust 99% of people on the planet, and is constantly wary of any ulterior motives they may have (which is why it’s a very good thing that all his friends are so sincere it’s almost concerning), or just their sheer stupidity leading them (and him by association) into trouble (in fact I think sokka would far rather ally with a two faced bitch than with an idiot, because at least you can reason with a two faced bitch). as katara rightfully points out (frequently), sokka is a paranoid cynic, but it’s hard not to be a paranoid cynic when the last time you had any shred of hope whatsoever is when you thought the southern raiders were retreating from your village and then you went home to find your mother’s charred corpse in the living room.
moreover, his trauma at the hands of imperialist violence has informed so much of who he is to the point that he genuinely feels that he isn’t, because that’s how throughly he has been dehumanized by the fire nation’s colonial project. it’s not just that he feels worthless, it’s that he feels unpersoned. due to assuming the mantle of protector before he was old enough to form a coherent sense of self, that role became his entire sense of self, and now he feels that he is nothing more than a shield with which he can protect katara (and others, but mainly katara), and can’t detach himself from that role even though it’s unhelpful and unhealthy, because (in his mind, at least) it is truly all he has.
so in summary, he’s a paranoid, miserable, depressed misanthrope who is repressing a fuck ton of grief and trauma to simply get through the day, including the fact that he feels it is his duty to die for his people and his loved ones—especially katara, to the point that he has an unhealthy codependent attachment towards her because he stakes his entire identity to her existence—and has no sense of self beyond his role as provider, protector, and (inevitable) martyr. obviously that’s just what his deal is psychologically, which is different from his personality (cue the, here I was thinking he’s just a fun, silly guy!) but you will also never get anywhere in understanding sokka if you think that he somehow has less trauma than katara, rather than the fact that unlike katara, who is able to process her emotions in an open and healthier way, sokka simply ignores it. but he also does a pretty bad job of hiding it most of the time, because he literally acts like a trapped prey animal in basically every situation once you look past the sarcasm and witticisms that provide his favorite tried and true coping/deflection mechanism. you just have to care enough to look past the surface, which most people don’t, including himself.

Almost forgot, gotta explain karma and colors !
So you may have noticed in the chao doodles the "positive karma" and "negative karma" chao, and then in the Knuckles doodles, his hyper form is looking.. a bit dark, not quite as heroic as you'd think, right ?
Well that comes down a value known as karma.
Here's an excerpt from my google doc : "Karma is an ever-changing value assigned to everything in the world. Karmic charge is defined on a spectrum of positive and negative based on the person/thing, their circumstances, and ancestry. It affects the physical appearance of certain things, like transformations and chao forms. It does nothing else."
So while it is a thing that exists in the world, it has pretty much 0 impact on the story of the AU ! It's a tool for visual design basically.
See, chao, they're pure chaos energy, and depending on who they're raised by, their karmic value is changed. For example, Knuckles and Shadow will always raise negative karma chao, despite not being evil or anything, because their karmic value is far in the negative zone. Someone like Fang on the other hand, who yes is a villain, will raise positive karma chao.
Does that make sense ?
Visual identifiers of negative karma are webbed wings, crescent or eclipsed moons, purple and dark blue, darker colors in general. And for positive karma, you'll see segmented wings ( not sure how to explain but not all feathered wings count ), sun or star shapes, light blue, maybe burgundy, light colors.
A note on colors : basic chaos energy is colored emerald green, and ring energy is, unsurprisingly, gold. You'll tend to see gold often in my transformation designs.

Tumblr media
“You know that trope? That one trope *Everyone* hates? The trope in which a well meaning antagonist to our heroes, one looking out for the good of a certain community, suddenly does something horrible and drastic to make not only them, but the ideology they stand for the most villainous of all?”
NOW IS THE TIME TO BATTLE THEM OUT! Like Ken dolls, fighting for survival! Like your Polly pockets discarded in the closet, we’ll see which of these bitches jumped that slippery slope harder! Whose character did numbers on y’all, and blew up a bunch of grandmas and babies and hospitals with it!

HAMA from AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER vs AMON from THE LEGEND OF KORRA
Hama propaganda:
“A waterbender from the southern water tribe who was captured by the fire nation when they invaded her home. After being put through inhuman conditions to prevent her from waterbending, she learned to bend her captors’ blood instead to escape. She then lived undercover in the fire nation, for decades, before meeting the gaang. Then out of nowhere it’s revealed she’s behind the disappearance of a bunch of fire nation villagers and she tries to forcibly teach katara bloodbending so she can carry on her actions. And for what?? That doesn’t even make any sense!! She could’ve been at least targeting soldiers or officials but nope all of a sudden she’s actually the villain torturing innocents because she can and i guess that’s what happens after she goes through all that ???? ??”
“if iroh can get let off the hook for being a former fascist war criminal, hama can get off the hook for imprisoning people. hama was taken from her homeland, interned, and forced to watch all of her fellow waterbenders die in prison. the gaang's solution to her doing the same thing to members of the nation that wiped her people out? RE-INTERN THIS TRAUMATIZED ELDERLY SURVIVOR SO SHE'LL DIE IN PRISON LIKE THE REST OF HER PEOPLE. hama should be allowed to go home and see her few surviving friends and family again.
bloodbending wasn't just a cool evil new ability, it was a metaphor for generational trauma. that's why hama was so insistent that katara learn it: it was the final legacy of all those people who the fire nation purposefully exterminated, because it was the only thing that saved hama from that same fate. it was the only form of southern bending katara could inherit, because it was all that was left of them.”
Amon propaganda:
“his whole thing was that nonbenders are discriminated against in the avatar-verse, which isn’t all that wrong. except instead of fighting for something like more nonbender representation in government or, y’know, a n y t h i n g reasonable, he decides the way to solve this is clearly to take away people’s bending until… what?
honestly, I never was clear on if he had an actual plan
take away the bending of everyone in republic city? the world? stop at korra? who knows!
anyways. he decides it makes pErFeCt SeNsE that to solve the problem of nonbending discrimination (I honestly don’t think it was as oppressive as he claimed) by taking away peoples bending ability
which is akin to someone stealing your entire identity and for many, livelihood
but the real kicker is
the way he does it
IS BY BENDING
AND NOT EVEN REGULAR BENDING BUT A SUPER SECRET RESTRICTED ILLEGAL FORM OF BENDING
which is EXACTLY the kind of thing he fearmongers about when he says venders have too much power
so his whole platform of “I am one of you (nonbenders), chosen by the spirits to correct this inequality” is complete and utter baloney”
Always feel free to rb with more propaganda :)

So I have a mini theory about TOTK based on the memories, major spoilers under cut
So Zelda is around 10,000 years in the past, in the Era where this iteration of Hyrule was first founded. I say this iteration because I believe that this isn't the true original Hyrule that we know to have been founded form Skyward Sword but most likely a refounding of the kingdom from further down the timeline, similar to how New Hyrule was founded by Link and Tetra after Wind Waker, but that's my own headcanon and I don't really want to deal with the whole timeline bs right now. Which is why I'm only focusing on Zelda doing time travel in TOTK.
So... my question here is, exactly how long was she in the past!? The answer is 10,000 years, I know, but I mean... how long was ZELDA in the past. Not Zelda the Light Dragon but Zelda as herself. Time travel is a finicky subject since, for us, she could have only been missing for weeks, maybe months, before the end of the game. For her it could have been much, much longer.
My idea stens from a few factors, first being her relationship with Sonia and Rauru and the second being the Imprisoning War. A little bit of Ganondorf thrown in there too.
First and foremost, the bond between Zelda and her ancestors. Queen Sonia and King Rauru treat Zelda, a literal stranger to their politics and therapy, like a daughter. Far more so than he rown father ever did! When she has something to say, they listen to her concerns and validate them. Now that could just be them being good parental figures to their decendant, but Rauru had no reason to believe a word Zelda said about her concerns over Ganondorf's treachery when, in her time, the Imprisoning War that hadn't even happened yet was little more than a legend and barely remembered history. Nobody even knew who the Zonai were by the time BOTW came along. Yet Ganondorf aoemhow knew Sonia would listen if Zelda asked to see her in private, and Sonia and Zelda were both able to put a contingency plan in effect to thwart the attamped assassination. True they failed in the end, but the initial attempt had failed and the fact Ganondorf knew Zelda's image would move Sonia to leave her protection and her husband says a lot in and of itself.
Then the war itself. First of all, war isn't a quick matter. There is jo su h thing as a fast war no matter what history claims. All war is messy and takes years to deal with the fallout. And the Imprisoning War wasn't a simple skirmish. It was a massive war that put the Hylians and their aloud forces to the rbink of extinction, one that had long lasting consequences including but not limited to the longterm exclusion of all males within the Gerudo tribe with the exception of Link over 10,000 years down the line, and even then that only happened AFTER he saved the tribe twice over. A war that is o far reaching it is mere jyth and legend yet still very present at the time of BOTW. By the time the Sages swear allegiance to Rauru, he was the last bastion against the Demon King in his rampage with the last of the Gerudo falling shortly beforehand. That is, the Gerudo who are OP as hell in BOTW in all accounts and are literally trained from childhood as elite warriors in most cases.
Zelda had FOUGHT in that war and had spent an undetermined time after its ending, preparing the Kingdome of Hyrule and the remaining survivors for Ganondorf's inevitable revival as best she could. That in and of itself will likely take years, especially since she had to find a caretaker for Rauru and Sonia's unnamed and unseen heir to ensure her bloodline lasted long enough for her own birth.
So, I bring you back to my theory... Zelda has been in the past for at least several years before she turned into the Light Dragon. She did not immediately go to the Temple of Time and swallow the secret stone. She had to have had at least several months after the war at minimum before she could transform into a dragon. I know the Tears make it appear shorter than it was but there's no way all the events of the 8 tears can happen within a span of a few months. It had to have been years.

The Issue of TBOAH's Narration – was it wrong??
As those who finished reading TCF Part 1 know (spoiler alert); Cale Henituse got his knowledge about the world he got transmigrated into from a series of books called "The Birth of a Hero", by "Nelan Barrow" – aka. Choi Jung Gun, Choi Han's uncle.
CJG wrote them as a "guide" for Choi Jung Soo, Kim Rok Soo's friend, who was originally supposed to be the one transported into that world to help Choi Han defeat the White Star. Plans changed, however, when he and Lee Soo Hyuk altered fate and saved KRS's life, at the cost of their own. So KRS-turned-Cale took CJS's place and the TBOAH series served as a guide for him, instead.
There are still many questions unanswered about this whole thing. For example: how did CJG know all the things he did? The novel was supposedly from TBOAH!Choi Han's point of view, and yet, it had some inexplicable details… like how to earn the Indestructible Shield (which supposedly was never gotten by anyone), or Harol Kodiang parentage – why mention such a thing at all? Was Harol somehow important in the TBOAH verse later on?
Or another example: why didn't the books mention the White Star at all? Surely, if past-volume-5 Choi Han's knowledge was given to CJG to write about, shouldn't he first and foremost explain to CJS who the Final Boss is and how to defeat him??
Or another: why was it so important for CJG to tell his grand-nephew just how pretty the Whale People are???
So many unanswered questions!!
Tumblr media
Today, however, I will be focusing on topic of them in particular:
Was TBOAH's narration actually, 100% correct?
Here's the thing: I was re-reading one of my favorite fanfics recently, "In an Instant" by Messy_haired_bum on AO3. I got to the chapter where a certain part of TBOAH came up – namely, "the Last Survivor of the Wolf Tribe", the Wolf King Lock. The characters in the fic discuss a particular problem with that title: Lock wasn't the last Wolf.
Or, well, he wasn't supposed to be.
Arm's goal in attacking the Wolf Tribes wasn't exterminating them at all – it was abduction of their children. Lock's siblings, by all account, should have gotten kidnapped in TBOAH verse, not assassinated. It is important, because later on the races "abandoned by the gods" – like the Wolf Tribe, Vampires and Dark Elves – were meant to be used as sacrifices to the God of Despair, to summon the 8 Unranked Monsters from the demonic statues in Endable, as well as the Temple of the Sealed God in Puzzle City. Lock was part of the team who managed to rescue some of the abducted Wolves, himself.
The problem is this: did the TBOAH!Lock not know about the abduction somehow, only assuming he was the last one when that wasn't the case… or was the TBOAH's narration wrong, for some reason?
The characters in the fic are torn on the issue – neither argument supported by the omniscient narration (which was a clever move on the author, that's why the writing's so great in this) – and the two Locks despise each other: TBOAH!Lock believes his counterpart to be weak, while TCF!Lock thinks the other him was blind and failed to notice his siblings getting abducted.
However, there is a third option. Which is a theory I've had for a long time.
I do not believe that CJG's writing could actually be 100% correct – especially where it comes to subjective stuff, such as beauty or people's personal beliefs. He clearly has some idea of his character's motivations and personalities, and yet he had no idea about OG Cale throwing his reputation for the sake of his step-brother Basen.
On the other hand… I think CJG got his objective facts right, such as the order of events. Even if the timeline wasn't explained to Cale as clearly as he would have wished – causing him to encounter the Whales in the Ubarr Territory, despite visiting the shore way earlier than the events of TBOAH's volume 5… Still, CJG never wrote any lies. Sure, TBOAH!Lock believed to himself to be the last member of the Wolf Tribe when that clearly wasn't the case. However, I think the attack on his village could have been a complete assassination after all.
How, do you answer? One word: Redika.
Redika was the one who attacked Lock's Wolf Village in both TBOAH and TCF, but his actions could have been different in the two timelines. Why...?
...Because of Raon, of course.
Think about it: Cale's actions caused massive differences from the very beginning. From Choi Han's relationships, to the survival of the nameless village where Raon was being tortured at. However, most people forget that there was an important link between Raon and Redika. Redika was the one who sold the Black Dragon Egg to Marquis Stan – and the thing is? He wasn't supposed to do it!
No, in fact, the Black Dragon going on a rampage and dying at Choi Han's hands? It probably gave Redika a lot of trouble! Because he was never supposed to sell that egg!! It never should have been in his posession at all!!!
The Dragon-Half Blood, which was presumably Redika's teacher in magic, gave him the Black Egg in secret in order to "dispose of it" – aka. protect it. Redika agreed, then double-crossed him by selling it to a random low-ranked Arm member (because let's be honest, the Stans couldn't have been high in that hierarchy) for some BIG CASH. Everything went down well under the table of course, so he was pretty confident there would be no bad consequences for him.
...Except, he Dragon escaping and revealing himself in such a public way?? No way he could have covered it up! Redika was probably sweating bullets when he found out! If someone connected the dots about him being involved… oh boy. If the Dragon Half-Blood heard about it, Redika would be good as dead. If the White Star heard about it… he'd be worse than dead.
And I bet the news reached him juuust around the time he got the mission to abduct some Wolf Tribe children. What would a psychopath do in such a stressful situation?
Why, murder a bunch of children, of course!
It makes 100% sense. Maybe Redika didn't kill all the children in TBOAH – maybe it was just some of them. But it was enough to make Lock and others convinced that Arm's goal was assassination. Redika went on a rampage to let off some steam, and probably killed more of the "seeds" than he should have on this mission. He'd probably get even more in trouble because of that, but hey – YOLO, am I right?? 😂
I mean c'mon, it's not like Redika was a particularly restrained guy.
Of course, there were other factors: such as Choi Han and Rosalyn arriving earlier than in TBOAH, thus saving more lives. But I'm pretty sure that Redika's actions were different in TBOAH, as well. There's no way he would be unaffected when he about the Black Dragon escaping in TBOAH. The butterfly effect in TCF is super strong. If tiny differences like Choi Han not beating up Cale resulted in his actions being different, why wouldn't the same apply to other characters? We all know the moment Cale transmigrated, the whole thing went of the rails.
Basically: I think CJG was right in TBOAH, mostly. Except Cale's actions caused such huge waves of changes, the situation changed drastically. Lock believed to be the last of his kind because for all he knew, that was the case. But the attack on his village probably went differently in TBOAH from the start, not just because of Choi Han and Rosalyn.

I just finished last night and I have some questions for people who have read mike bockoven’s fantasticland -
[for those who have not:
- take a climate change-charged hurricane that’s the worst noaa has seen in recent memory and the first to hit daytona beach since 1960
- throw it at a Not-Disney-World Florida theme park with major national nostalgia, where a bunch of the Not-Disney College Program kids and some adult staff have opted to get paid extra to stay inside the park through the storm to prevent looting
- watch as people trapped within the park for more than a month - still with plenty of food and water, mind you - lose their minds, fragment into factions, and begin going full battle royale/lord of the flies on each other
- tell the whole thing testimonial style with different witnesses interviewed each chapter, a la World War Z, with some insanely unreliable narrators to boot
if that sounds like your kind of horror novel, give it a go. it’s not perfect (especially when they call the factions ‘tribes,’ which. yikes.) but I tore through it in like, two days.]
okay, questions below, spoilers for the novel:
1. …is the pirate who comforted the little boy who was evacuating, in interview three with the kansas city dad, Brock Hockley? am I reading too much into that?
like. I don’t remember that we ever get a description of him, so I don’t know about the “weird beard/mustache thing” the dad describes, but just. the emphasis put on “I’d like to shake his hand. I might even give him a hug.” feels so purposeful. part of me wonders if that’s supposed to add some further hindsight horror to what happened in the park and then his prison interview. he says early that he found making little kids happy a fulfilling and rewarding part of his job as a character actor in the park, and we know other people found him charismatic enough to follow, not just because they were scared but bc he could have these moments of surface-level charm or rationality (the code, etc.)
idk, I just thought it felt a bit too one-off to read it as Just Some Guy. but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I could be wrong.
2. we never get any hint as to the identity of the warthog couple, right? I remember the FNG found their masks discarded outside the World Circus, they’re first mentioned in the book as hanging around/inside the circus, and the guy from the Dreamland Hotel interview talks about still getting postcards from them whenever he moves (scariest part of the whole book for me ngl), so we can assume they were walked out with the rest of the survivors. I just wasn’t sure if there was anything else to do with them that I missed.
I’m still thinking about the fact that they turned the Dreamland lobby into a torture theater. like… who was that for? just for them, or did they have an audience? probably not, right? since they weren’t affiliated with anyone? but still. also, who were they taking there, just people they could pick off???
hmm. I wonder if any casualties thought to be faction-related were actually theirs.
3. in Travis’s interview (the guy with the body camera), do we know who the girl is that they found in the crawlspace of the employee locker room? the one whispering “Mommy” over and over? there were enough survivors left that she could be someone we didn’t encounter before, but I just thought I’d check that there wasn’t some other interview where someone describes a girl running off to hide. the Anonymous shopgirl mentioned one of the girls disappeared during the cannon raid on Pirate turf with the Deadpool soldiers before they turned on each other, so I wondered if it could be her.
4. Brock in his interview mentions that Sam Garlieck’s people were terrorizing others during the power outage in the storm shelter, specifically mentioning an instance of sexual assault. does anyone else corroborate this in their interview? Adam Jakes sounds skeptical, saying his research would have turned that up by now, but the only people we really hear from about that period are Sam himself (obviously an unreliable narrator, like, duh) and Stuart Dietz, who mentioned that Sam definitely killed Maria Flynn. did anyone see any other mentions of this anywhere, or did we just move straight out of the storm shelters and never talk about them again once we get to the park? is this just Brock being an unreliable narrator himself to justify how things went down? (but then why would he need to be, when Bryce definitely died?? although he himself says that wasn’t as big a motivator as people writing about him want it to be, so maybe that’s moot)
5. not really a question just an observation: Stuart Dietz, the maintenance guy/Mole Man, is the only person to get two interviews in the entire novel. Not Sam, not Jill, not Brock. I don’t know, I just find that really interesting why he was selected to come back twice. I know part of it is to describe the botched demolition, but I’m also wondering what effect it has on the novel that the only person we hear from multiple times is an older dude from one of the pointedly non-aggressive factions.
6. in looking through posts already in the tag, I don’t quite follow some readers’ comments that there was an attempt at a “cell phones bad!!” message here. I feel like every time it’s come up, it’s been shown by Adam Jakes (author stand-in) to be minimizing what really happened and looking for an easy scapegoat. I don’t think that was part of the intended story at all, I think it’s just been stated over and over as people using an excuse to not think themselves capable of similar violence. just wanted to put that out there.
anyway. one of my favorite things about novels with multi-witness perspectives is finding threads that leave off in one person’s story and pick up in another, so I’m going through my digital copy and highlighting all the places two different interviews tie together (Austin’s fate, the guy who botched branding Adrienne as part of his Pirate initiation, etc.)
if anyone else has noticed anything interesting, I’m all ears 👀

Notes for my Sokkla Celebrity AU (Sokka's side)
Here are mores notes for my Sokkla fic, an ATLA Celebrity AU. The story is Azula-centric but I still made notes about Sokka (with mention of others) to flesh out everything Warning: Canon Characters' Deaths still occur
The notes of Azula's side
Without further ado, ATLA Celebrity AU (Sokka-centric)
Hokada & Kya are local musicians but it's like a side hustle for fun Sokka & Katara grow up with music Kya dies from cancer when Sokka is 13 Sokka gets interested in producing really young but gets side-track when Katara gets discovered and becomes the next big thing (think Taylor Swift) at 15 so Sokka starts a rapper career the same year (17) They both sign with Avatar Industries and that's how they meet Aang (since the beginning, Aang has had a crush on Katara which both Water Tribe siblings do not see) That year, Sokka met Yue, an opera singer incredibly famous in her field, and it was love at first sight 3 months later Yue dies in an accident in which he has survivor guilt as he was supposed to be with her (they had wanted to announce they were dating to the world) 6 months later, he meets Suki, a freshly made Olympic winner, at an event and while she shows interest, Sokka is reluctant They start dating and the media gets the news very quickly Sokka doesn't talk to Suki about Yue (Somewhere in between, Toph and Zuko join Avatar Industries) (Toph used to be a classical Opera singer but she quits for heavy metal) By the time Sokka is 20, he's not very happy about his life/career Suki encourages him to go to university, which he does: double major in sound design and engineering, pausing his musical career Become closer to Zuko, they related over anxiety, survivor guilt, etc Suki and him are good, but something feels amiss; so the whole cheating with Azula doesn't help, even if Suki knows it's false Around a year later (21), they break up over mostly distance, Suki moves to follow her trainer Sokka enters his fuckboy period that last a good year, maybe 2 While at uni, Sokka rediscovers his love for producing and starts working with the Gaang+Zuko with their music He starts to win prices as a producer At 24, Zuko asks him to help Azula with her next album

i think the biggest reason kataang never sat right with me is because it wasn’t really satisfying for either of their individual arcs.
Aang always seemed to be more infatuated with katara than actually in love with her. Aang thought she was beautiful and strong, and she spends all of her time helping him train and fight. she protects him and cares for him, of course he has a crush on her. but it always seems like a childish desire, even in the 3rd season. aang should have let go of katara in the final fight, it felt like kind of a cop out to hit that rock. aang spends the whole series at war with himself over being the avatar, something he never wanted but was his destiny nonetheless. it would have been more satisfying (in my opinion) to see him fully accept the role of avatar at the end of the show, and know he was content with his destiny. Aang had so much responsibility at both the avatar and the last airbender, as well as so much trauma from spending his first year conscious after being frozen for 100 years immediately fighting and training in the war. for him to end the show in a relationship, and achieving that relationship being his ultimate happy ending just seemed very shallow for everything he had gone through.
for katara, i really feel like she settled. and i’m not going to bring any other ship into this, because there are pros and cons to all of them, so don’t take this as comparing ships or trying to say one is better than the other.
Aang did not understand nor accept katara. to not understand someone is one thing, but aang would not try to even accept katara if her feelings were vengeful, angry, etc. he preached forgiveness and being the bigger person, but that is not what katara needed from him. aang could never be a comfort to her because he couldn’t accept wanting revenge and holding grudges were valid feelings to have when you suffered what she did. and of all the people in the show, aang SHOULD be the one who understands the most. he is the last airbender, she is the last waterbender in the southern water tribe. the survivors guilt weighs heavily on them both. when aang lashes out in the avatar state, it is always katara who bring him down to earth, just by being there! but aang could never do that for katara. he had to turn it into a moral lesson, he could not help but preach to her when all she needed was for him to be there with her while she got her anger out. zuko did not have to do anything to comfort or convince katara not to give into her anger and take someone’s life. he just had to be there, to back her up and not judge her. she made the choice to leave on her own. she had to make that choice on her own, and aang was just not emotionally mature enough to let her do that. and he still wasn’t able to comprehend why she would let him live if she didn’t forgive him. katara wasn’t raised a pacifist like him. she raised herself, and her older brother. she had to be strong, and it took her looking her mother’s murderer in the eyes to realize that she didn’t have to kill him to be stronger than him. she didn’t need to kill him to make sure he would never hurt anyone again, he was already incapable. it’s the same choice aang made when he took ozai’s bending.
basically the point of this ramble is that i think katara deserved someone who could put her first, who could understand her, and who wouldn’t judge her anger. and aang is none of those things. he is the avatar, and katara would spend her whole life fulfilling HIS mission to bring balance. she was put into the role of caregiver over and over again. it was natural to her at that point, but i think she deserved to be selfish in at least one of her relationships.
edit: i’m not tagging this anti-kataang bc i’m not an anti. this is literally just me wishing that he had grown up a little and showed the same emotional maturity towards katara that she showed him

Yandere Wendigo x tribal Princess Reader (Perspective of (Y/n)).
Warning: It's the same as "Yandere Wendigo! x Tribal Princess! Reader" but this time it will be from (Y/n)'s point of view. Pictures are not mine.
Tumblr media
*Perspective of a victim*
I have always been viewed with "respect" by the townspeople as being, so to speak, the "princess of the tribe". I was quite protected by my guards who always accompany me since being the daughter of royalty does not mean that there have been men and boys seeking to take advantage of me against my will to make themselves kings.
'RELEASE THE PRINCESS NOW!' My guards have shouted one day when they called attention several times to a black-haired boy who has tried to force me to do certain kinds of things that I don't want with the excuse that I'm pretty, and because of that they won't let me out.
Tumblr media
The years have passed. Now I am 18 and some things have happened.
Several men, women and children from my tribe or town have been disappearing and therefore I am forced to go out to inspect how many survivors are left in the town, mostly during the winter where the disappearances and murders are more notorious, but the testimonies of survivors have said things in common like:
--Before dying it seems that all the sounds of nature are silenced and that a creature is the one who kills them-- This is how they called the alleged murderer of our tribe, "the creature" which I have not seen since I do not leave much of this kind of castle made of both stone bricks and very resistant wood, so it is a very resistant place and warmly welcoming for the most part.
--Protect the princess whenever she goes out-- My father, the king of the tribe, ordered, to which my guards nodded. Where was my mother? She died giving birth to me and from that moment my father overprotects me and sends my guards to watch me at all times.
--Yes sir-- Said the guards and from that moment they never leave me alone when I go out or when I prowl the property, except that one night, while I was giving a last inspection to the town, apparently my guards were grabbed by something that I did not get to see and in my panic I tried to go look for them. It was winter, so it was a very cold night, and there was snow almost everywhere.
--Well, well, well-- I heard a male voice behind me, I turn around and it seems to be one of those young men who tried to court me and touch me earlier with another partner, and they both had a wicked smile as they got closer to me, making me take steps back, with fear.
--Where are you going little one?-- I looked for my guards and… in the distance I saw something suspicious that seemed to be moving in the shadows and in that, the men push me against the ground and apparently try to rape me, and I say this because of the forced touching that they are giving me for certain my private parts against the floor, and when I screamed for help while they laughed, all sounds of nature were silenced in that instant.
--Huh? What is happening?-- Asked one of those men and from one moment to another I see how a creature attacks them. The creature is similar to a deer but much scarier, standing on two…legs? if that. He is quite tall and in his hands he has very sharp claws with which he gave a great blow to those men who tried to rape me, so I freed myself and there I saw his brown eyes which looked at me too and it is as if they penetrated my soul, so while the monster ate them, I ran home, finding my guards dismembered on the way.
I went back to my house and didn't go out all night.
Tumblr media
Time passed and I felt that look on my whole being to the point that I did not want to go out alone at any time, apart from the fact that it is also because of the issue of my almost rape but… seeing how that creature tore apart and killed in a grotesque way those men and then glaring at me is something that still haunts me, and seeing my guards hacked to pieces afterwards didn't make it any better.
I have told my father and he has told me that it must be possibly a member of another distant tribe that was literally starving to the bone, and that is why they made a pact with a demon who cursed them, causing them to some ate others and those who ate others, that is, those who committed cannibalism, were transformed into terrible creatures known as "Wendigos".
--It is likely that they are the ones who are devouring the inhabitants of the tribe-- I slightly nodded my head. Later, a team known as "Wendigo hunters" became known who are willing to kill them and watch over me and my father, who has searched the chiefs of other tribes that have the same problem of disappearances to try to marry me. with one of the princes and send me away from this danger zone, at the same time that we unite tribes and help each other to face the problem.
--You'll be fine when you leave this dangerous place faster, daughter-- My father told me after discussing a possible arranged marriage with a prince from a neighboring tribe.
--it's ok father-- I could only affirm his order since there would be no way to make him change his mind.
Days later I began to feel his gaze on me more intensely, I also began to hear a terrifying voice coming from the depths of the forest every time my father tries to meet my fiancé. It's like it's calling me, and although I'm curious, I don't want to go near the bottom of the forest, apart from my father strictly forbidding me to walk near that place alone.
Tumblr media
I was running away.
That creature from the other time was chasing me through the woods.
He had attacked my house, my guards, the hunters, and my father.
--Help someone!-- He was screaming for help while running in the woods in the middle of the snowy night in very cold weather. I felt frozen or almost frozen as I listened to that monster growl behind me. I collided with the branches of some trees and my feet are already injured.
--AGH!-- He had finally grabbed me and scratched me badly, causing me to start bleeding profusely, and…give up. Another thing I forgot to mention is that this creature has an AWFUL smell all over it, and that was something I've also noticed before apart from its penetrating stare.
--Please! Someone help…Cof *Coughing blood* Help-- This is all? Is this the end of me? To die this *Cough* way? In the middle of an immense amount of snow and cold and on top of that devoured by such a horrible creature? I can no longer fight. It's too cold and I've lost too much blood, I guess it's goodbye.
The last thing I saw is how that creature raised one of its claws, probably to open my stomach.
Tumblr media
*Narrator PO.V*
Indeed, it opened your stomach and began to eat you while you felt that you were slowly freezing and killed you, devouring you without you realizing that you made that Wendigo feel a kind of "pleasant warmth" that he did not feel a long time ago, when he was still a human at Even though he had been dying to the bone until the curse fell on him and his people.
Every time he ate human flesh, his bones changed and this to Axel, that is, the Wendigo that as strange as it may seem fell in love with you, the change hurt a lot, he writhed and sometimes even moaned in pain. At first he didn't realize what he did to you, but when he finished with you, he was desperate not to see you, and seeing his claws, the snowy floor and your bloody remains devoured by him, he understood the harsh reality.
He loved you so much that he couldn't help but fall into his instincts, which caused him to kill and eat you when he finally got close to you. He felt horrible but on the other hand he was glad since his beloved would not go with anyone else, no other Wendigo would kill her and she would be forever inside him and only with him.
"However, the Wendigo cried all night."
-The End.

Survivor 46: E2
-Yanu tribe has very interesting dynamics. I like seeing them. -Not sure about Nami kind of isolating Venus. I feel sorry for her, being isolated like that. -Kenzie seems like she has the winner edit from what I can see. -I went from being unsure about Venus to rooting for her hard, after she said about feeling invisible like no one is seeing/heard you because my whole life it felt like nobody really saw me. From being neglected by my own mother as a kid/teenager to being always put last. So I see where she is coming from. And her tribe should not really be making her feel like that. If she makes the merge/tribe swap she's flipping lol. -Siga/Green tribe is the least interesting to me. At least we're hearing from them though. -Charlie and his angels and then his other alliance so he's the swing vote could be interesting. Him and Maria having some deciding power could be cool too because I think Maria is an interesting player. -Lol at all of Siga looking for an idol. And Randen finding the beware advantage. -Randen's "I have a useless car that I can't drive" analogy to losing his vote cracked me up. -Kenzie not wanting to work with Jess/Bhanu is interesting because she 'doesn't want to hold people's hands. And Jess saying it is the first time she talked strategy with Kenzie. I laughed at Kenzie walking away and Jess immediately "we should vote her out." -the dynamics of Yanu are way more interesting/exciting than the Siga tribe. I also like the Nami tribe though. But at least I know where the alliances/people are in the alliances. -I stopped listening temporarily during the music battle lol. -Liz talking is also annoying because she apparently already has money? the money "wouldn't change her life"? But it would for the others. -Also a sidenote. Liz is exactly who I would cast if I were making a babysitter's club thing. I'd cast her as an adult Mallory Pike. -Randen is trying to make an alliance with VENUS?? Who he previously had a feud with? Lol. At least the cast is changing dynamics. -And the two of them meeting in the middle of the night like spies was great. -One criticism I have of modern survivor is how similar the challenges are in the tribe ones. I get bored of seeing the same sort of obstacle course with puzzle. I'd like to see some new ones. I'd even take one of those balance beam ones over water people kept falling off. -Jeff just cutting the buff off the immunity idol lol. Poor Venus. -Is it just me or Moriah and Liz look a little bit alike? -Nooo not Yanu falling behind again. :( Well at least they're not super far behind. But I like Yanu. -Siga tribe just made me like them slightly more because someone made an X-men reference. -Laughing at all the blocks falling. And at Nami spelling persistence wrong. This challenge looks much more frustrating and annoying than I originally thought it would be. -I would be so annoyed at Liz yelling on the sidelines. -Oh poor Yanu. They were so close to coming 2nd. Yanu going back to tribal council. Please don't tell me there's yet another tribe that gets decimated premerge. I really should finish season 45 shouldn't I. I watched 2 episodes? -Bhanu seems like he is coming unhinged this episode. Which is great tv. -And of course I am here for Venus' meltdown/feud with Tevin and Soda. She's such a diva. Ohhh and she wants to work with Randen to work against Soda and Tevin. Now I love both of them as well so I'm not sure what to do but considering Nami keeps winning immunities well -Ohhh Tiffany. You lost your cool during a challenge and now you're worried about them perceiving you as a crazy person? I think I understand what she is saying though. I love Tiffany a lot. -And Kenzie is trying to make a fake idol now? Lol what a villain. I've missed actual villains on Survivor. -Clown school is really pushing it for me. I was rooting for Tiffany too but Kenzie and her are acting like mean girls (well it is Survivor) -Bhanu is unhinged. AND I AM SAD TO SEE JESS GO.

please I am begging you, please speak every aspect of your mind on Sokka Suki and Tophs battle, I need someone to appreciate how traumatizing that would have been as much as I do
like when watching the finale I had no worries that Zuko Katara and Aang would be ok because this is a kids show.
but two nonbenders and a blind girl who can't see past the airship she is on? I was convinced that one of them would die
ok before i start i just wanna say i spent like half an hour writing out my thoughts in my notes app and then the whole fxcking app crashed randomly and i lost 70% of what i wrote. so yeah just gotta share that frustration. worth it tho bc atla<3
anyways here we go (under the cut bc it’s LOOOONG)~~
sokka, suki, and toph vs the airship fleet is so underrated. i know it doesn’t have the iconic imagery of the final agni kai, and it isn’t the climax of the whole show like aang vs ozai, but it’s so very underrated.
this fight has such a different tone compared to the other two (sorry white lotus but the ba sing se fight isn’t gonna be included). aang vs ozai and zuko vs azula both have one crucial thing: an element of hope. although the outcome of each fight isn’t spelled out for us, we as an audience can pretty much gather that our main protagonist (aang) isn’t going to die. it’s unlikely that zuko or katara will be killed too, considering how significant they are to the story and their strength as benders (and the fact that it’s been established that azula is clearly not sound of mind. zuko and katara are at an advantage in their fight.)
but for sokka, suki and toph? there’s no element of hope here. there’s no definitive plan they’re following like there is for zuko or for aang. if they fxck up, they’re DEAD. and that makes this specific battle SO tragic and traumatic.
straight off the bat, sokka, suki and toph are at a disadvantage. it’s just like you said - they’re two non-benders and a blind girl completely out of her element. and they’re surrounded by firebenders who have comet-enhanced abilities. they’re the characters that, if this weren’t an animated kids show, would most likely be the ones killed off. they’re extremely vulnerable in this battle. and what happens to the extremely vulnerable children during this battle? they get separated.
this immediately opens up so many more possibilities and outcomes of what might happen. will sokka and toph be okay? will suki be the only survivor? it’s only once suki returns and everyone is confirmed to be safe does the audience experience a moment of relief. the anxiety levels (as an audience watching this scene) are HIGH.
also fun (but not really fun) fact the scene where sokka and toph are hanging off the edge of the airship and sokka says it looks like the end ABSOLUTELY WRECKED ME the first time i watched it. i was literally numb afterwards. had to pause the show and have a breather for a moment because it was SO FXCKING INTENSE. can you even imagine what it would’ve felt like for them? for sokka, knowing he can’t do anything else to protect the people he cares for (which is such an important theme and important element of his character throughout the whole series, stemming from way back when hakoda tells him to look after katara and their tribe. this is a rant for another time tho). and for toph, not being able to see or sense anything other than sokka’s grip on her hand and his (potentially last) words. it’s so sad.
as well as all of this, sokka directly addresses the possibility (and likelihood) of that moment being their last - see: “i don’t think boomerang is coming back, toph. it looks like this is the end.” no other character expresses concerns regarding their safety in the same way during their respective battle. this specific battle is so real, so raw, so intense, and it’s easy to gather that even the characters themselves are lost. sokka, who usually has a plan, is playing everything by ear. he has no idea what he’s doing, which just adds to the uncertainty in the scene and for audiences. this doesn’t apply to either of the other battles we see, where the characters’ destinies and the general plot of the show have been leading up to these battles for a quite a while now. audiences don’t know what to expect with sokka, suki and toph.
also the sukka enthusiast in me wants to add that by having sokka and suki in a relationship, there is yet another thing at stake here. there’s a common theme in film media of lovers being separated (whether by death or by some other circumstance) and this just adds to the intensity and anxiety surrounding this battle. it’s not a significant point but i did notice it and do feel strongly about it.
before I go onto the next thing I do want to circle back and focus again on toph’s experience during this battle. she is probably the most helpless of the three of them since she can’t see and the entire thing happens in the air (IN. THE. AIR. i’ll come back to this next). she is LITERALLY out of her element. and there is something so tragic about her not being able to do anything or sense anything when she’s just holding onto sokka’s hand. that shit breaks my heart. i’m sorry but like no way any other fight/battle is this emotional and intense. no way.
okay next point is the setting. like i just said, they’re in the GODDAMN AIR. i need to mention the sheer amount of fxcking brutality that occurs during this battle. so many people (more than likely) died as a result of sokka crashing that airship into the others. why? because of the setting of the battle. they’re practically trapped. they’re in the most unsafe situation of any of the characters. i mean, look at how suki got separate from sokka and toph - that’s EXTREMELY dangerous. it’s honestly surprising she survived that. the three of them are jumping from airship to airship and none of said airships are stable. at the very least, if zuko or katara or aang were in terrible danger, they have the last resort of escape. sokka, toph and suki do not. yet another thing that makes their battle so traumatic.
the setting of their fight is very unique, leaves them with little space to be creative in their fighting (no running, no hiding. just a metal airship and lots of firebenders). i don’t have a clip of it but if u watch the moment when suki returns and saves sokka and toph, you can see sokka drop toph onto the airship suki’s on before he jumps down himself. and i CANNOT for the life of me get this thought out of my head: toph had no idea what was going on in that tiny moment. sokka tells her it’s the end, she hears a crash, and next thing she knows is sokka’s dropping her. how fxcking scary would that be? that should be enough evidence alone to confirm that the airship fight is the most tragic and traumatic.
all in all this fight scene is sooooo underrated and also SO not suitable for a kids show. shit’s tragic as hell. thank u for the ask i hope this satisfies your wants. sorry for the insanely long post lmao i got carried away. anyways pls send more asks like this i love overanalysing the smallest things in shows! v fun :)

top 10 battle cats facts to keep you up at night (scientists HATE #7!)
the end of ul is soon so there's no time like the present to make a theory that will get outdated almost immediately
the masked/doron tribe settles in the ancient forest labyrinth a couple thousand years ago. they wear masks infused with the power of ancient gods.
at some point, urs visits the ancient forest and meets doron. the tribe decides that they're worthy of a mask of their own and they become the guardian of the ancient forest. (they also found the warrior clan which uril, yulala, and ururun are descended from.)
emperor cat, the head of the cat empire, finds the ancient forest and sees the masked tribe. he becomes greedy for the power that is in the masks and wants to harness it at any cost. the masked tribe believes he will become corrupt if granted this power, so they deny him.
emperor cat begins trying to concentrate power in a pandimensional crystal. what is a pandimensional crystal? idk lol. the power of the crystal allows him to tame wild cats, and he eventually fosters and raises the cat empire to greatness. (emperor cat LR desc)
the cat empire becomes good friends/trade partners with the nearby doge empire, and they have a casual allyship.
emperor cat is still greedy for more power, and keeps returning to the ancient forest. the pandimensional crystal begins consuming parts of his soul (again, from emperor cat LR desc)
he becomes more and more of a tyrant (to the point where he tries to manipulate his daugher, princess cat, into making a deal with the aku to harness their power)
the doge empire decides they have to take action, so they wage war against the cat empire. they ally with the masked tribe and other relic enemies to fight the cats. the cat empire, struggling with both a corrupt ruler and powerful enemies, slowly but surely lose ground.
a small group of cats realize that there's no possibility of the cats winning, so they conspire to bring their last hope - princess cat - to a secret haven safe from the battle and begin a new cat kingdom. for a while, this new cat "kingdom" prospers, while far away the original cat empire is fighting a losing war and their emperor is killed.
during her research into the aku, princess cat is possessed, becoming the possessed empress. she opens the gates of aku, allowing them to invade the overworld.
the subjects of the new cat kingdom reunite with the original empire, now beset on all sides by the doge army, relics, and aku.
a group of researcher cats attempt to create the ultimate superweapon using bioengineering and create awakened bahamut cat. he promptly destroys the doge army and relics, but is fatally injured in the process of killing relic bun bun, the doge army's own attempt at bioengineering.
there's one last thing that the cats forgot about though, which is the aku and the lord of ruin jagando (also known as the demon king). by this point, both the cat and doge empire are destroyed, and there are few survivors left.
jagando kills the empress, but at the last moment, master uril, a member of urs' clan, fights off jagando and banishes him back to the aku realms. the site of their battle becomes the aku altar's seal (UL 39). he came to reside in the heavenly tower, waiting until the cats would find him again.
the remaining cats flee, dispersing around the world. some choose to be taken in by humans for protection, eventually becoming domesticated. although the species of cats recovers as a whole, the stories that the original members of the cat empire passed down to their children are eventually forgotten. the same happens with the doges.
in the modern day, cats and dogs are sentient, but completely unaware of their past or the history behind their rivalry.
on december 31st 2020 (according to the AC song), something(?) signals to the cats in japan. they begin amassing and preparing for war.
the rest is told through the EOC campaign. the cat army begins invading other countries, and other cats from different countries join them along the way.
at the end of their campaign, the cats find bahamut cat's carcass orbiting the moon, because somehow it was tossed out into orbit after he died. don't ask me i don't know
they manage to revive his soul, but only have the ability to give him a restrictive vessel, which is crazed bahamut.
we all know what happens next, they build a time machine and see that aliens have invaded the world, so they conquer the world in the future too. at the end of the ITF campaign, they find that the aliens have the technology to bring bahamut cat back to his original form. while trying to restore him, the technology malfunctions and bahamut cat is corrupted. (ITF ch 3 moon) the cats manage to get him under control and return him to his normal state.
around the ITF campaign, the cats also use the time machine to travel to 20 years in the past, aka stories of legend. they fight and recruit ururun, catdam, mina, and musashi
at the end, they discover the laboratory of relics, where a guild of researchers associated with the doge army have been trying to revive relic bun bun, which became mecha bun.
the cat army find another time machine in the laboratory, and travel back to thousands of years ago, to the era of the uncanny legends. this is shortly after the destruction of the original cat/doge empires, where relic enemies have overrun their territories.
here, they encounter remnants of the empires, such as dogumaru, urs, doron, etc. the cats begin to realize that they have a past, but they're not aware that there was an entire empire before them yet.
after encountering the aku altar's seal in UL, the cats accidentally broke it and opened the gates to the aku realm, where they fought jagando jr again. they were successful against the aku this time.
the ancient egg units are also from around this time. idi specifically was ancient egg n002, but the relic enemies took her for further testing and engineering and planned to turn her into a spy. eventually she went rogue and escaped through the time machine back to the era of SOL, where she was found in the laboratory of relics. (no one actually knows who she's allied with, even now.)
no one's REALLY noticed anything, but sometimes gamatoto finds green crystals while on expeditions, and uril has an unusual familiarity with the places in the UL era, and doron and idi don't like each other. but no one has connected the dots (yet).
sooooo what's next? no idea. maybe ponos will give us a clear answer to the lore, or maybe they were just fucking with us the entire time and they don't know what they're doing either? either way i'm looking forward to ul48 and let's just hope it's not behemoths.
inspirations: doron tribe pandimensional crystals emperor cat / the demon king

I'm sending you so many fic titles. You don't have to do all of them if you don't want to. I got them from what my sister and i would have Sims title books they were writing. | (Call Me Innocent) (Walk Softly) (The Benefits of Screaming) (Ghosts I Have Loved) (And the Shadows Wept) (The Stars are Different Here) (Her Name Still Echoes) (Honest Creatures) (Wooden House, Paper Unicorn) (Though All to Ruin Fell the World) (The Echo or the Answer) (Above Us, Only Stars)
Firstly: sorry I answered this so late. Life came and ate me when I thought I'd have time. Go figure.
Secondly: I'm so happy to see that somebody else thought about what to title their books in Sims. I had a list, too. In one game, I had three generations of writers, and they kept writing new books "for the same series". Obviously, the game didn't care, but I had such a fun time seeing them all in the book store xD
Thirdly: Thank you for answering this! <3 And, in particular, answering with so many great titles to chew over. This was a fun mental exercise. I'm still throwing metaphorical salt in a circle around all of this so these silly ideas don't become less silly. I'll need to live another lifetime to finish all the fic on my To Do list, at this point.
Now, onto the actual answers!
Call Me Innocent. Probably something that starts with/includes the Buddy Wakefield poem "We Were Emergencies". I know that thing off-by-heart. In particular: "Make love to me, like you know I am better than the worst thing I ever did." So... Animorphs post-war? Like many years post-war and Cassie and Jake get that second chance. Orrrr Roy and Riza after the events of canon trying to put the world back together, with a healthy side-helping of Ed, whose guilt tendencies didn't just go away after defeating Father. Shocking, I know.
Walk Softly Agent Carter fic. A fix-it for Endgame. It will be Peggysous. There will be Daniel and Jack bromance. And Daniel and Steve bromance. This is all.
The Benefits of Screaming Avatar the Last Airbender. Azula gets love, therapy and a life-changing field-trip with Zuko (and Katara). I don't know the particulars, but I think it would sort of be a community service combined with going out to see the world through new eyes sort of fic. Just letting Azula lose control in safe ways. By that I mean go penguin sledding or run through a field of flowers for no reason. And Zuko and Katara, despite being Fire Lord and Ambassador to the Water Tribe and totally responsible adults, would also have moments of just being able to be kids. Lots of both Zuko and Azula apologising to one another, and starting from scratch to build a proper relationship.
Ghosts I Have Loved An Everlark fic. I'm thinking about Peeta and Katniss more often than even I realise, I think. And, although it's been done a thousand times by very talented people, I want a fic in that space between Peeta coming back to once-Twelve and the epilogue. Possibly even beyond it. I'll always want to go to war with "I didn't want kids but Peeta really did so we had kids I hated it but you know" because it bugs me. It would include Katniss and Haymich and Annie and some other survivors, but would be mainly focused on Peeta as he grieves all the people he lost and how complicated it is. His whole family was wiped out. One of those family members was canonically at least a little abusive. He lost friends. He lost who he once was. He lost the (fake, impossible) ideal of Katniss in his head; his first love, if you will. So it would just be a slice-of-life of Peeta observing and internally commenting and also stepping in to help where he sees he can, with this motif of all the love haunting him. And how he figures out how to let each "ghost pass on", so to speak. While also watching other people around him do the same. Johanna and Peeta friendship, because they rock.
And the Shadows Wept This is such a cool title, but I couldn't think of anything proper to go with it. Only half-baked ideas. And I didn't want to delay this answer for too long wracking my brain for a fic that won't ever exist lol. So I take the L for this one.
The Stars are Different Here Going back to the second fandom I wrote for here on Tumblr for this one. Doctor Who. More Metacrisis and Rose. For the record, in case anybody cares, there will be no calling him John. Or thinking that naming him is like naming a dog. (If you know, you know.) Just the two of them having ordinary adventures. And some not-so-ordinary ones. They're still the Doctor and Rose Tyler, and they have an earth (or two) to defend. Maybe even start with Rose's adventures with that dimension canon, because that's some good untapped writing potential right there.
Her Name Still Echoes Also Doctor Who! All the places people still find Bad Wolf, and variations thereof, throughout time and space. I'd have to actually catch up with things for this, I think, which would take a while (I think I stopped actively watching around season 7 or 8 and just read Wikipedia since then lol). But just letting Rose's desire to keep the Doctor safe be OP across their lives. And, because I'm me, I'd bring in the origins of the Big Bad Wolf and probably seven references to Red Riding Hood and/or The Three Little Pigs. Possibly even a tie-in to number 6, and all the ways the Bad Wolf echoes in all the places Rose jumped with that canon. (Rose and River bff-ship is a strong need for me tbh.)
Honest Creatures I'm forever dying to poke at the Scott and Rachel father-son dynamic. Or even Scott and Laura Kinney. Friendship/adopted dad only; I don't want to think about the direction the comics took with Displaced Scott and Laura, thank you. Either in canon-verse (whatever the heck that means, any more lmao) or trying to do some clean-up with the way Scott was written as he went off the rails... but not really. Anyway. Complexities of Scott Summers, screwed-up leader and oblivious collector of children he adopts.
Wooden House, Paper Unicorn Since this is all hypothetical and I don't ever need to actually write this, this one would be used for a Firefly/Serenity fic. Simon gets captured and thrown into prison on an Alliance prison ship. While there, he starts to doctor the other prisoners. His skill becomes known by the guards. And he gets pulled out to help an Alliance girl's emergency when her parents frantically hail for help from their ship/planet. Only oooooh the Alliance people have guests for their little vacation out in space, and two of those guests are Mr and Mrs Tam. Who have, according to their official records, never had kids. The drama. The Simon Sass. More drama when Serenity tracks Simon down... No, I haven't actually thought of this concept a hundred times in my head, why do you ask? Yes, there would be Simon whump. I'm basic, and you should expect nothing better from me.
Though All to Ruin Fell the World Zutara in an AU where either the war didn't end so nicely, or where winning the war didn't magically fix everything. I'd probably re-use concepts from Battles After War. Try and do something similar to MJ's stunning Ghosts Through The Smoke, but even more hopeless. Fire Nation leveled to nothing hopeless. Zuko failed as a Fire Lord/was never allowed to take the throne hopeless. Or, like, Zuko chooses the Gaang in Ba Sing Se, but Aang still dies and Katara doesn't know she saved him and she and Zuko get split from the others and go into Survival Mode kind of hopeless. Anyway, you get the picture. The world fell to ruin, somehow. :P And, yet, Zuko and Katara protect each other and fall in love. Although it takes a long time for them to be able to call it that. Maybe it will even be a little tragic; they are never able to let love grow past a certain point, because there's just too much to do. And they end up dying as soldiers who help the world limp towards a bright future. But never together.
The Echo or the Answer Okay, but the way I love this as a title? I know it's become slightly... not pretentious, but over-used, but... I will lean into the connotations if I can ever find a thing worthy of this title. I know this isn't an answer, but I couldn't think of anything that I want to "waste" this good title on lmao.
Above Us, Only Stars Animorphs, my beloved. Again, since this is hypothetical, and I never need to actually have the skill to write any of these fic: this one would be a role-reversal where the auxes got the morphing power first. But the OG six get pulled into the war by James and his team, because the Powers That Be nudge James toward Tobias, Elfangor's son. Who has been having strange dreams of the ocean shared with Cassie, even though neither of them know why. I'd be fascinated to see the OG six as team B under James' leadership. I'd not know how to write this fic, but I'd love to read it xD
SEND ME A MADE-UP FIC TITLE AND I’LL TELL YOU WHAT I WOULD WRITE TO GO WITH IT.

Seven Sentence Sunday
Thanks for the tag @adventuresofprettyboyandthekid ❤ This is nowhere close to seven sentences, but consider this a make-up for all the times I got tagged for this and WIP Wednesday and never posted anything.
Here's a rough snippet I was working on today from Chapter 2 of my Survivor fic 🌴
~~~
“What’s the problem?” Buck asks. “We have a plan. We're all voting Bobby. Simple.”
“Uh, do the math, genius,” Lena says, incredulous. “Four isn’t the majority of ten. We need numbers if we want control over who goes home first. And Eddie,”— she motions toward the beach—“is our best bet.”
Ali follows Lena’s gesture to shore, where Eddie stands shirtless on the sand, helping their other tribemates patch up the last bit of the shelter. The way he jokes with Chimney and Hen, the way he pulls tooth-bearing grins out of normally stoic Athena and Abby, the synchronicity with which he and Bobby fit sticks and fronds into the roof like pieces into a puzzle — it's casual and familiar, even though they've haven't been a tribe for a full twenty-four hours yet. But it would be much more fearsome if that weren't Eddie's default setting.
And after he showed her how to use sea water to season her food at breakfast and Ali had to shove a shell full of rice into her mouth to avoid looking into those dark brown eyes and telling him all her secrets, it was undeniable. Eddie had a talent for charming the people around him, and it was effective against everyone.
Effective against everyone but Buck, that is.
“Yeah, that’s not happening,” he mutters.
Ali rolls her eyes. “Are you still bitter about the challenge? I say this with love, but it’s been a whole day. You need to get over it.”
“What she said,” Lena agrees, pointing her way. “Look, Bobby, Chimney, Athena, Hen and Abby are a solid five. You, Ali, Jonah and I are a solid four. Eddie’s the only one who’s spent time with both groups. Like it or not, he’d be the easiest one to try to get to our side.”
It makes perfect sense. Pulling Eddie in would force a tie, at least giving their little group a fighting chance at the first vote. But one glance at Buck’s scowl says the argument isn’t quite landing.
“Let me put this in a way you can understand,” Lena pivots, dripping in condescension the way it does when she's on the verge of losing her patience. “Eddie’s the hot girl at the club that everybody wants to take home right now. We have to do everything we can to butter him up so he wants to come home with us. Or else we'll all be going home, only for real. ”
Buck folds his arms tightly across his chest and his face screws up in disgust. "Did you think putting that image in my head would help your argument?"
Lena cocks her head to the side. ”Would you rather be in an alliance with Bobby?”
Buck clenches his jaw, swallowing back the host of things he probably wants to retort with. “No,” is eventually what he settles on.
“Thought so. So plaster on a smile, put the seduction skills I know you have to use and make Eddie think you're his one and only — figuratively speaking,” Lena makes sure to add when Buck makes a face. “And you better start now because he’s coming this way."
