#putting this in the tags bc I need to get this out but also feel kinda guilty about it so I don’t wanna scream it in a post #but I feel soo irrationally pissed at my friend #bc she’s one of my best friends and I love her but I haven’t heard from her all summer except for the like four times she answered my #messages only to immediately ask me something in return #it took her two weeks to reply to a meme I send her only to immediately follow up with ‘het remember how you said your parents wanted to #hire my band’ #‘ahaha summer is so busy I’ve read all my books anyway you told me I could borrow this one book?’ #last was ‘heyy sorry for not replying haha anyway im bored next week wanna go on a trip’ #to which I replied ‘yeah I would love to but I have my internship starting next week remember’ #and its like I don’t mind that she doesn’t answer my texts like god knows I hate texting #but its really starting to feel like our relationship is fully based on her needing me for something #which I have felt before but I kinda dismissed it as me thinking it was always me who had to take initiative which was disproved when she #asked me to meet up a few times but thinking back it was always like ‘hey let’s meet up for coffee’ and then when I arrive having literally #left the library where I’d been studying for only ten minutes bc otherwise i wouldn’t see her. #she’s like ‘oh I don’t want coffee anymore but I need to go to the supermarket wanna join me?’ #which I always did bc I wanna spend time together and it’s cheaper for me than getting overpriced coffee but!!!! #anyway I’m feeling this now bc while she hadn’t answered my ‘sorry can’t go on a trip’ text I did just see that she’s currently in portugal #with another friend #which is like??? so she just found someone else to relieve her of her boredom and so she didn’t need me anymore so why answer me right?? #anyway it’s probably not that bad and I will talk to her about it when I see her again which will probably be in a month I guess but for now #I don’t wanna ruin her trip

Anyway since they're apparently not going to go with the "Steph leading/babysitting a team of young heroes" book idea (pause for despair) I'd like to pitch MY idea for Steph: Steph gets back into playing piano (she already started doing so in Batgirls #18!) and ends up taking on a mystery related to the basement rock scene in Gotham (I know the underground concert game there is INSANE absolutely prime serial killer territory)

and like! love them as always, the cast is great, great to hear them talk about this stuff

but also. i took like a year ish hiatus from this fandom before tlovm pulled me back in, and in that time i, among other things, finished my theatre degree

and god does this hit different when you're a week out from the professional opening of an original musical you wrote with like 7 other people, and are also not just a performer in but the music director of

#my life for the last week has literally been rehearsal/choreo practice/typing up sheet music/watching cr/sleep that's it #and like it's great and i love it #but also we've hit the crunch time of every creative project where you have to just start murdering your babies #which is also why im never gonna be mad at the cr cast for places where the show didn't live up to the campaign #because nothing is ever finished to its ideal form #and i was leading band rehearsal last night just watching as parts of this show i poured my soul into get cut for time #and it's gotta happen! but god that is just The Mood right now #though on a lighter note just all the talk of going back on this or that or letting the creative people you hire do their jobs #also something i've been really enjoying the past few months #our live band is awesome and it's great seeing what they do to my songs #but yeah im just here watching and every aspect of this fucking show is flashing before my eyes #hey remember three years ago when the extent of my ability was making up that recreation of yasha playing her harp? #yeah i write for musical theatre now #how the turntables and all that

lol i actually think we didn’t have finalised designs for jyushi’s band mates until this chapter lmao so what we got previously was just the mangakas given free reign on their designs (and they’re significantly cooler they should have stayed with those designs 😭)

okay i mean this in the nicest way possible. if you're into any bigger bands, like at all, im begging you to please just... do a little research into the music industry. learn about the shitty things it perpetuates, the ways it screws over your favorite musicians, how it ruins bands on the daily.

you don't need to be an expert or anything, but i feel like a lot of heartbreak would be avoided if people realized that in the end, almost all big bands are businesses, and business in the music industry is vicious and cutthroat whether you like it or not.

#but maybe that's just me. #as a musician who has watched my many musician family members get fucked over by the industry again and again #this isn't to say big bands are like... inherently awful or anything #just that they're businesses first and foremost. it might've been a nice little personal project before but now it's a big moneymaker. #a lot of decisions that might seem rooted in interpersonal drama between members are often just because of money. #also because i feel the need to mention this after seeing so many shitty takes: #most musicians aren't paid nearly enough holy fucking shit. #ESPECIALLY if it's a big solo project with hired guns. hired musicians get paid fucking pennies in comparison to the main artist #they're not rich. they're really not. #(note: this isn't talking about people like t*ylor sw*ft. you know im not talking about people like that.) #just... idk man. treating big bands like they're cute little local projects is a bad idea.
