The Hashira at the Gym

I just started going to the gym with a friend and now I have a brainworm about the Hashira and what they'd be like at the gym.

Tengen:

Tengen is a gym influencer. He's also the kind of guy who wears the tightest shirt possible every time he goes, and he spends just as much time working out as he does flexing in the mirror and taking selfies with other people. People don't mind though, because the amount of weight he can bench press is impressive. He's almost constantly on the ab machines and doing weights. This man lives off pre-workout and spends all his extra time at the gym. His girlfriends also workout, but mainly are into Pilates.

Rengoku:

This man wears muscle shirts but not because he wants to show off, just because they were on sale when he was getting gym clothes. He never skips leg day. Never. This man's thighs are sturdier than tree trunks. He could crush a watermelon between them without a second thought. Everyone loves him, even if he's a little loud. He drinks protein shakes every day, and will bring Senjuro to the gym sometimes.

Giyu:

He pretty much exclusively does treadmills and stair-steppers, but he also will use dumbbells. He only wears hoodies and basketball shorts. Headphones are in 100% of the time. Will stare at people until they are off the machine he's waiting for. Doesn't drink protein shakes, but will drink preworkout. The caffeine does not seem to affect him in the slightest.

Gyoumei:

He likes the treadmills for walking. They're meditative for him. He teaches yoga, but also does weightlifting. He can both bench-press and squat more than anyone in the gym. He has several of the same exact tracksuit for working out. Has never tried pre-workout and says he never will. He's a vegetarian and only drinks vegan protein shakes if he does drink them at all.

Shinobu:

She's into calisthenics and pilates, but mainly does a lot of running, especially on inclines. She can do the least amount of weights out of all the Hashira, but she makes up for it with endurance and speed. If she sees Giyu at the gym, she'll get on a machine next to him and make sure that she's on it longer than he is, on a harder setting. Giyu doesn't notice most of the time because he's wearing headphones, but occasionally he will and thinks that Shinobu is just being friendly and that she's trying to be his gym buddy. She is not. She's being passive aggressive.

Mitsuri:

Not an influencer, but she always wears cute matching sets in pink, green, black, or white and people assume she is. Everyone at the gym loves her. Mitsuri has a pink water bottle decorated with sakura stickers. She always has snacks on her; protein bars, protein mixes, fruit, and other goodies. She does pilates, yoga, and weightlifting (and gymnastics and ballet). Misturi surprises a lot of the new gym goers with her strength. She is regularly asked to crush watermelons between her thighs, and she loves doing it.

Obanai:

He goes to the gym only because his crush goes. He'll pick up dumbbells here and there, but mainly works out on the stair-steppers and bikes. His clothing of choice is a hoodie and joggers. Always wears a mask no matter the season or if he's sick. This man wipes down every machine and weight before and after he touches it. He has seen Misturi break open watermelons with her thighs no less than six times. He is smitten.

Sanemi:

This man works out at their weirdest hours and is never consistent with when he shows up but does appear almost every day. He does weights and calisthenics, and despite never touching pre-workout, he has incredible stamina. Sanemi wears tank tops to workout in, and half the time they're cut into v-necks because he "can't stand feeling like he's being suffocated". He's brought his brother a few times, but mostly works out alone. He has gotten in trouble for fighting a dude who was recording a girl doing squats without her knowledge.

Muichiro:

This boy does yoga and ellipticals, and not much else. He'll bike occasionally, but he only comes to the gym because his family has a gym pass and he likes to watch shows with his headphones in while he's walking or biking. Wears a t-shirt and basketball shorts, and sneakers with mismatched ankle socks. Doesn't take anything seriously, but enjoys how protein shakes taste.

Note(s): It's so hot here, but thankfully I'm well-equipped to handle the heat!!! I hope you enjoy these headcanons, Nonny!

Rengoku

» I'm going to put things simply: Rengoku loves it! I love to headcanon him as a person, who loves to be close with his friends and significant others, so he isn't surprised in the slightest when you faceplant on his chest.

» One warning, though: He's going to hug you, and he won't let go of you. He's nice enough to let you free if you ask it nicely, but he wants you to stay close, and there must've been a reason why you did that, right?

» Rengoku's chest is so soft~ He takes good care of his body, and it's easy to fall asleep while holding your head against his chest. This is canon, and you can't change my mind.

Sanemi

» Sanemi's definitely confused about it, and he's probably going to be angry about it as well if you do it out of nowhere without any kind of warning because it came out as a surprise, and he isn't the biggest fan of them.

» He isn't going to push you off, though. As tough as he looks, he has a soft spot for you, and seeing you smile happily when you get to hold your head and face against his chest makes all of this worth it.

» Just be careful about when doing this! There are times when Sanemi can get seriously pissed off by you doing this, even though he loves you a lot!

Gyomei

» I think that Gyomei's pretty used to have people do this, especially when he's sitting down or laying down to relax or something else, so he wraps his hands around you pretty smoothly when he feels you faceplant on his chest.

» When I say that he does this every time, he really does it every time: No matter how content and happy you might seem, he always makes sure to ask if you're okay. He knows that he's a big man and a strong one as well, and he doesn't want to hurt you even by accident, so you have to put up with this, no matter how many times you tell him that you're alright.

» It's so nice to just fall on top of this gentle giant and let him take care of you. You don't even have to speak or anything for your faceplant to turn into a comfortable cuddling session!

Uzui

» Uzui's so damn smug about this because you aren't the only one who keeps faceplanting into his chest. (Suma keeps doing it all the time, especially when she wants to get comforted.) It was close that he would've asked if you were alright, but your body language told him pretty quickly that you did this just because you could do it.

» He's much smoother about the cuddling session he's going to trap you into than what Rengoku is. He lets you hold your face against his chest, and he plays with your hair while you do that before he wraps them around you to trap you in a hug~

» What can I say? This man has three wives, and he can and will win everybody over with his smooth talks and moves, and you're going to be one of his "victims" when you decided to faceplant into his chest on that faithful day.

Author's note: I hope you enjoyed these headcanons! It's been such a long time since anybody requested anything about Gyomei, so seeing this request made me really happy.

tomioka giyuu

black, long-haired cat with blue eyes

he’s a super quiet cat

sleeps all day

when you can’t find him he’s probably just in the bathroom with his paw dipped in the bathtub water

flinched often when you tried to touch him when you first got him but now is the one reaching towards you to get your attention

himejima gyoumei

huge mackerel blind cat

has the loudest purr

loves being with you! he doesn’t follow you around every step you take but instead stays at a comfortable distance

highly independent and can even turn on sinks on his own

waits at the door for you to get home

iguro obanai

tuxedo cat with heterochromia

jumps really high and sometimes sleeps on top of cupboards

pretty hostile to visitors

incredibly amazed with sliding doors

will take a lot for him to be happy with you petting him but he likes it when you run the back of your finger on that little spot on his head

uzui tengen

persian cat with blue eyes but they almost look silver

definitely a high maintenance cat

likes wet food way more than dry food

instagram cat and he likes it when you dress him up, sometimes nuzzles your hand when he really likes the outfit

he’s the owner of the house, you just live there actually

rengoku kyojuro

white, long-haired cat with the puffiest mane ever

extremely energetic so good luck sleeping at night

he calls you over to show his empty pet bowl after he finishes his food and he looks so proud of himself

so warm and fluffy and actually loves belly rubs

is the one waking you up in the morning because he wants to go for a walk

shinazugawa sanemi

scarred white cat with green eyes and a twisted tail you found in the streets

feral, has rabies, and almost scratched the hell out of you and the vet when you tried to get him his shots

doesn’t like to be picked up but would sometimes bonk you with his head

watches the doors and flicks his tail when someone approaches the house

isn’t picky with his food and sometimes you can catch him rummaging through your trashcan

tokito muichiro

black, long-haired kitten that looks like he’s got white socks on

sleeps in the weirdest positions and in the weirdest places

loves toys that have bells attached to them

sometimes he comes to your room and then just leaves

stares at the wall or ceiling a lot

kocho shinobu

black, short-haired cat with a shiny coat

she is a little mean but she’s very loving

when she isn’t fed on time she goes :3 and tries to push down a fragile item off the table

even though she does that she jumps to join you in bed, laying beside you until you both fall asleep

looks wonderful next to flowers

kanroji mitsuri

white, long-haired white cat with the most beautiful green eyes

the most loving one of the bunch

greets you when you come home, sits on your lap, naps on you

wants to eat whatever it is you are eating

pretty clumsy and knocks over your things often and runs to you to rub against your legs like nothing happened

Did any of the hashira went to school? Like with those angsty backstory and the timeline where their childhood would prolly be situated around 1890-1900.

They did not had time or utility to go to school, did they ? And money count in too

Giyuu lived alone w/ his sister, Tsutako didn’t had time to send the boy to school and work her ass off at the same time. DID UROKODAKI HAD TO TEACH HIM? WOULD HE??

Shinazugawa mom worked all day to feed her family, aint no way they could go to school.

Did kaburoumaru taught obanai how to read an’ write back in his cage? I DONT THINK SO

With their dead aff parent, same for the Tokito twin, and before the swordsmith village, Muichirou would forgot about it

It don’t matter if Gyomei know how to read anyway, he blind

Maybe Rengoku, Shinobu and Mitsuri prolly learn at home but still

Is that why they have talking crow? IS THAT ??? Is thats beacause they can’t fricking read ??

Considering most of us situate the kny timeline ( im at talking about ep 1) in around 1912.

Giyuu was about 19 something if I remember well, so if him, for exemple was to be at baby school age, around 3-5, it’ll be around 1898.

Same for the other hashira as they are all between 14 and 26.

That would be a time when around only 30 % of the japanese population was officially in school and it mostly was for the rich.

So did they ? I don’t think so, and since most of them don’t have family to homeschool them

Mitsuri and Rengoku do NOT count

That would up the chance of them not knowing shit about writing and reading.

Tanjirou and co would come in the serie around 1912, near the Japan’s modernisation or something.

But seriously? Between super smell boy that spent 2 year cutting a rock, a boar, and blond zip zap guy ? Pretty sure they weren’t schooled too.

OH GOD WHY AM I WRITING THIS?? I was just reading a damn fanfic where they were sending each other letter for like 15 line and this crap stricked me.

Note(s): I'm not going to write headcanons of every pillar because that would mean one short line per character instead of my usual 3-4 headcanons per character. I hope you don't mind it!

Uzui

» There's only one word Uzui needs to use when he sees you use the mirror breathing technique for the first time, and it's that he's impressed. He's the only known sound breathing technique user, so seeing you make the same moves he does so flawlessly is outstanding.

» You'll get praised to the moon and back once when you two had dealt with that one pesky demon that made you fight in front of Uzui in the first place! He's not afraid to tell you how proud he is and how happy he is to have you as his boyfriend.

» Seriously, he won't stop talking about you and what you did to the other pillars, and that continues so long that even Gyomei had to ask Uzui to tone it down because they knew how much he loved you and how amazing your breathing technique was.

Gyomei

» While Gyomei is definitely impressed, he's more than worried about you if you're small or frail in any kind of way because rock breathing technique is hard to master, and it's even harder to be able to use it because it takes a lot of strength from its user.

» He won't stop checking on you after the coast is clear, and he's not afraid to carry you to the closest wisteria crest even if you tell him again and again that you're alright. (And it's honestly sweet of him!)

» Gyomei might let you use your mirror breathing technique on him again after some time, but even then, it's not 100% sure if he's actually going to let you do that or not. He wants his boyfriend to be safe and healthy!

Muichiro

» Muichiro is an airhead (I love you, son, no hard feelings), so he didn't realize what kind of moves you were making before he recognized that you were using the mist breathing technique.

» He's pretty weirded out by it in the beginning, especially because he doesn't remember anything about you mentioning this to him. (You did tell him about this, but he forgot about it in a few minutes.)

» Still, though! He's happy that you two can share a breathing technique because it makes training with each other a lot easier as well! It's easy to find mistakes in your technique when there's a person literally mirroring them from you.

tomioka giyuu

quiet kid in class

sometimes you can see him reading a book in the corner of the room but if you look closely the book is upside down

loves nap time and has a fish plushie that he brings to school

not very picky with food but will cause a mess with the apple sauce and he’d just stand there like 🧍‍♂️

the type to not cry when he trips and falls but will cry once his guardian picks him up

himejima gyoumei

a little older than the other kids

likes to help you out like carrying your bag or the books

he sometimes helps with meal prep

talks like an adult like, “good morning, how have you been? how’s the weather? have you been eating well?”

the child in him shows when you read a story where the character faces a challenge and he comes to you to ask if they are okay

iguro obanai

climbs trees pls get him down from there

rarely speaks and is sometimes reluctant to approach you for help

draws one pattern on paper over and over again when he’s bored

doesn’t have a lot of food to share but you see him share some with mitsuri

ever since then you often sit him next to mitsuri during arts and crafts or story time

shinazugawa sanemi

always has a band-aid on him for some reason

all of his crayons are snapped in half because he holds them too tightly

spins around sometimes

likes to draw leaves

thinks that he has to take care of you, he is the babysitter

rengoku kyojuro

full of energy

everyone looked at him when he was introducing himself in front of the class because of his booming voice

always has so much food and shares with whoever he is eating with

“my parents said you can see in the dark if you eat a lot of carrots!”

very polite and always says thank you, sorry, and hello when needed

tokito muichiro

kinda aloof, quiet

got caught drawing on the wall once

he really likes making paper stars and paper airplanes

the only colour he uses in his colouring books is blue

tugs on your sleeve to get your attention but then forgets what he wants to say

kocho shinobu

very intelligent child

likes to read

she tugs you over when she sees a butterfly and tells you all about it

light sleeper so you often read to her one more time until she falls asleep

she likes the lullabies you hum

uzui tengen

destruction! kaboom! always seems to drop his things

incredibly creative though so even if he spilt all the glitter he still made it work

offers to paint your face sometimes

“(y/n)- san, why do you always wear the same thing?”

likes ring pops

kanroji mitsuri

very sweet child

shares her food with everyone and makes a special one for you

likes it when you style her hair

jumps around

holds iguro’s hand when she thinks he’s feeling sad
