when making a character, u have to ask urself:
are they bloody?
will they ever be bloody?
is it their blood or somebody elses blood theyre covered in?
why are they bloody?
how drenched in blood are they going to be from a scale of 1-10, with 1 being ''barely drenched'' and 10 being ''so covered we shld ask where there ISNT any blood on them''?

I also think it's nice that they made Camilla a sci-fi nerd and Luz a fantasy nerd. They're genres that are often seen as completely opposing one another by many people, which is what we're led to believe about Luz and Camilla in season 1. Luz is silly, nerdy, frequently in over her head and irresponsible and loves the boiling isles. We're led to believe that Camilla is the normal, conventional TV mother who'd be disgusted and terrified by the demon realm if she saw it.
Then yesterday's lie gives us a lot of nuance to this, and we realize that while they're still very different and now on opposite sides of a conflict, both mother and daughter are incredibly kind people (seen in their treatment of Vee) who love each other but struggle to make the right choices without hurting one another.
Then thanks to them drops all this Camilla characterization and we realize! She was a nerd too this whole time! The wedge between Camilla and Luz is motivated by past traumas and grief! and for the future has them switching sides on the central conflict of where Luz should stay (Camilla now wanting Luz in the demon realm because it's what's best for her, and Luz believing that staying in the human realm is what's best for the people she loves). They finally talk and realize that, like Willow pointed out earlier in the ep, the two are so alike. Camilla reveals that she's a secret nerd too! That she had a hard time growing up and accidentally hurt Luz trying to save her from the same fait! It's so important to me that Camilla keeps calling Luz a good witch. It's affirming her interests and goals, reminding her that she's just as good as the hero of her favorite story. And Luz finally only realizes that she wants to be understood...when she's finally able to understand her mom. When she realizes that the woman she loves and admires is just as much of a nerdy screw-up as her and that there's hope for her. Her palismen ends being multiple animals at once, showing both how Luz making unconventional choices (like carving an egg) keeps paying off for her and how her potential is limitless now that she finally knows and accepts her own goals, but to me it also reminds of the fact that Camilla is a vet and passed a love of all the weird and unliked animals (like wolves, possums, snakes, etc) to her.
It's just so so sweet and it really shows how much love and thought the crew put into this mother daughter storyline (FTF haters are not welcome on this page, respectfully). I can't wait to see how both of these misunderstood but healing women (who radiate "little/big sister" and "mom" energy respectively) are gonna interact with a) the lonely, easily manipulated and well intentioned but ignorant collector (a mix of both their interests as a magic being with a space motif! I just realized that lol) and b) the nasty puritan white man who's really obsessed with conforming to society's norms even when it literally doesn't benefit him at all.
Anyway, I believe in noceda( AND clawthorne 👀) family supremacy 💙

something that i haven't seen discussed as much as some other stages of L2 learning is the stage when you understand much more than you can produce, but you can still produce quite a lot so people are surprised when you get flustered or forget stuff. i was on a work meeting for my nonprofit and the two japanese ladies who are kinda like my bosses on our committee did the whole meeting in japanese and the whole time i was nodding along, feeling that they were talking fast but not unclearly, missing a couple words but getting the spirit if not the letter of everything that was being said--and then they're like, sasha, anything to add? and despite having heard and understood everything they've said for the past half hour you forget how they said it and how you can replicate it. so you just end up saying nope, i agree with everything! because i forgot what the word for "registration fee" is even though you just said it!! 🤡

I was looking up chatelaines (ye olde overloaded girl keychains), as one does, and I stumbled upon one that could absolutely have been Nat's:
This example includes a wax holder for sealing letters, a pencil, notebook and chain mail purses. The notebook, wax holder and pencil each have a distinctly Middle Eastern sensibility, particularly reminiscent of the highly detailed scrolling filigree patterns interspersed with small flower heads often seen in Persian design motifs.

sejanus plinth is so personal to me and not just in the way that i love him, but also in the way that i’ve never seen existing between two cultures and peoples so perfectly represented. and like sure the hunger games certainly have taken it to the highest point and yeah no one is fighting to the death, but sometimes i have to listen to my own family debate about whether my people are worthy of living here. and it’s not just them. it’s everyone. it’s all around. i have to tell people i’m mexican almost immediately to avoid it and sometimes even that doesn’t stop them. i know that anger. it sits in my belly and consumes me too.

it's actually so so soo cool to me that miguel's suit is a hologram and performs like an LED screen on his body; i love that they added this detail bc it gives so much depth to his suit that would otherwise be lost like it makes the meso american inspired patterns on his suit such an enagmatic glow and makes his suit so cool to look at!!! just a million stars glowing on him !!!
SEE !!! THE CIRCUITRY... ITS SO FUCKING COOL !!!

If you only read diaspora authors in Latine Heritage Month (or read like 2 LatAm people), you're really buying into the idea that there's nothing anywhere in the world can do that a US-related one can't do better. That's what American Exceptionalism is.

Thinking about Marek and Mei and what family and heritage mean to them . Mei teaching Marek to love the beautiful parts of his past and history and hold them with pride and Marek teaching Mei that as long as she has dragon blood in her veins she will always be worthy of being part of their family . Mei's sword breaking and Marek's pendant reforming both in an attempt to protect those they care for. Marek sharing her childhood traditions with Mei as soon as his memories are regained. Showing that Mei's her family now . God I'm so normal about them .

Hii i wanted to ask for some advice because I want to draw fanart of the kane chronicles but I don’t know If it’s okay to draw Sadie as not visibly white? Like I wanted to give her curly hair and tanner skin?
Oh that's absolutely okay!
For elaboration:
Sadie is not white, she's white *passing*. That means she can pass as white, particularly in comparison to other black people, but that does not mean she wouldn't also have black features.
Hair, nose, and lips are usually what I see people try to use to showcase her biracial status, tanner skin is also pretty common.
I'm all for it! She's a wonderful biracial Queen and deserves to be seen as such <3
