Chapter 2/??? | Another Helory Story (Canon) | Helian's POV
I tried my best to learn romantic writing for this chapter but alas 'twas not my fate to be able to write romantic scenes on a whim, so I'm dragging my pal foxy @foxalone to co-write this one, enjoy! ^^ -Lumi
[Previous]
Mess. My mind was a complete and utter mess.
The strange encounter earlier filled my mind with doubt.
What I felt back there was indescribable. He was barely an acquaintance, and yet...
And yet...
My heart won't stop racing at the thought of him.
Taking a look at the place where the charming boy fell only made my thoughts more confusing.
For as long as I know, the possibility of making new friends would give me some sort of joy, but I don't think this is what I felt earlier.
'Maybe it's something... more?'
Realising what I just thought of embarrasses me. He was just a stranger, after all. Nothing more.
'Perhaps it's the shock. He fell on me and must have muddled me so much that I imagined things, yeah... That's what I must have felt'
The answer turning out to be as simple as that puts my mind at ease, the wind breezing gently around me helps too.
That is until a certain voice chimed in...
"Greetings again there, stranger."
My eyes widen as a warm feeling spreads across my chest, and my heart races yet again as I fidget around in my place.
"I'm here to apologize again, and you see... I seem to be a little lost, and I couldn't heal myself in my current state. Are you from around here, perhaps?" He said with the same tone from earlier with an idyllic smile.
The feeling from earlier crept back again; my body won't move, and I can't understand why I would feel so nervous.
"I... I.." I can't seem to mutter anything out.
The stranger tenderly looked at me, patiently waiting for my answer.
"Hey... yeah... I um... I-I..." I can't seem to talk clearly, much like a stuttering 5-year-old who's struggling to find the next word to say, "am I from... here?"
He giggled charmingly and hummed, "mm-hmm, that's what I asked."
It took me a few seconds before managing to say anything, "um... yeah, I'm from around here. You need help, right?"
My cheeks felt warmer as my fear from earlier seemingly dissipated, for some reason, talking to him felt... good.
'What's happening to me? Why am I feeling like this?'
"Indeed, I'm a little lost, and I think I need to heal myself. Could you perhaps help me out a little, stranger?" He added.
"I know someone who has healing powers... he could cure you I s-suppose..." I breathe in before encouraging myself to ask,"Hey... m-may I know what your... your name is?..."
"Oh my stars-" he giggled to himself, "-I'm so sorry for my impudence, I've completely forgotten to introduce myself, my name would be sans, but people usually call me memory, how about you?"
"I... you can call me Helian," My heart skipped a beat as he offered his hand to me.
"Well, nice to meet you then, Helian!" I managed to take his hand timidly.
The warm feeling imbued in my chest, yet again, it was indescribably similar to happiness.
"So.. shall we get going then?" He asked as he took away his hand.
"Huh? Oh! Of course!" I muttered as I started leading him in a somewhat clumsy way.
He giggled and followed me quietly throughout the journey.
After a while, we arrived in an area where I could usually find my acquaintance; he's known as Nishiki.
"Hey Nishiki..." I opened the conversation.
The skeleton was busy sketching the surrounding, he has fox-like ears and tails that twitched when he looked at us.
"Oh, hi again Helian, what's the occasion?" He responded nonchalantly.
"This is Memory, an acquaintance of mine -" I stepped aside to show Memory to him, "- he seems to be hurt, could you possibly cure him? Please..."
He looked at him quietly as he stood up and put his sketchbook down, "Hm... Depends. How much HP did you lose?"
Memory hesitated a little before manging to murmur something "0,5 ....out of 1."
Nishiki raises his eyebrow as he extends his arm. "Well... we need to link arms for the procedure, if you don't mind. "
"Oh, I don't mind at all," Memory responded instantly as he linked his arm with him.
My heart sunken for a s split second, but I tried my best to keep myself composed.
'This is required so he can feel all better... but why... Why do I feel so terrible looking at them.. together'
A translucent orange hologram manifested as Nishiki used his magic, interrupting my train of thoughts.
His HP was transferred to Memory instantly, and he fell to his knees because of it.
"Oh my goodness, are you alright?" Memory asked as he bent down, trying to help him out.
Nishiki just nodded as he took his offer and stood up.
"So... Is that all?" I managed to ask with my usual tone, trying my best not to appear cold.
"Indeed, the procedure is complete," he responded.
Memory smiles warmly and gives him a little bow. "Thank you so much, I really appreciate it."
"Oh, don't worry, it's no big deal," he smiled at him as he replied.
Before my heart could calm down from looking at them, Memory spoke again.
"I am so sorry but you see... I have healing magic as well but I can't apply it to myself, it takes my energy so it's not that efficient and I was wondering, how did you do all that? That was really fascinating."
Nishiki looked at him in a tender way, "It's this family heritage... in my family, only females could do that kind of magic"
"Woah! That's really interesting," Memory exclaimed, jumping up and down excitedly.
He laughed happily at the sight. "Oh fox!... I didn't think I could be interesting."
"Why I think you are, tell me more, please!" Memory gleamed with curiosity.
He smiled in flustration before beginning to talk. "Oh well..."
They gleefully converse with one another. Meanwhile, I... just stood there looking at them.
As time passes by, they seem to get along even more.
My mind blanked out all of the noises as my feelings clouded my thoughts.
For whatever reason, anger planted deep inside my chest.
'What does he have that makes him so much more interesting than me? I've known him first, so why does he talk more to him?'
To make matters worse, Nishiki seems to be upset about something, and the first thing that Memory did was hug him, trying to calm him down.
My chest got heavier instantly as my mind became a puddle of mess.
'Wh-what... why... is this making me angry? Why is it that I don't like him being nice to him... does that make me selfish? Why... why have I never been this angry before? Why.. does it hurt so much?'
The surrounding began to be blurry, I was in the verge of tears as I can't seem to withdraw a conclusion to my own feelings.
All I can do is withdraw myself from the scene, I felt way too many emotions that I don't like together.
Without saying a word or bidding a farewell of any kind, I've paced away.
I tried my best to think rationally for why those feelings appeared when I was around him and yet I could only come to one conclusion.
It was just me.
The one that having a problem was I alone.
There was never a problem present to begin with.
It was simply me being the problem.
'I was being selfish and rude even, that's why he doesn't want to even talk to me, that's why nobody likes me, I'm... just a foolish numbskull'
My mind spiralled into an abbyss of self loath as I kept running.
But then... the same charming voice chimed in.
"H-hey, wait!," he said as he stopped me, he held my hand in a firm manner as he made me turn around to face him.
"Helian... wasn't it? Thanks again, I owe you one. " Hearing his voice makes my vision fuzzy again.
'A-am I crying? In front of him from all people? What if he thinks I'm weak because of this... I- I can't possibly bear with that, I need to hold it back....'
But alas, my own body betrayed me.
My legs have grown weak and I sat down in an instant, tears streamed down my cheeks in an instant.
It felt so unfair, I never once cried in front of a stranger and yet...
I can't seem to hold my feelings back with him, I was about to break down yet again, but then...
"There there" he whispered to me as he hugs me.
My soul felt like it was put in a fluffy sheats of cotton as he pats my back and wipes away my tears.
"I don't know what upset you, but you can tell me if you want, I'm here for you" he looked directly into my eyes as he smiles comfortingly.
My mind became clear in an instant.
"No... Memory.. It's alright... I'm fine" I managed to mutter.
"Really?" He asked as he kept on patting me tenderly.
I tried my best to muster up a smile, "yes, you don't have to worry."
Instead of letting go of me, he gave me another hug.
"I'm glad then," he whispered in my 'ears'.
My heart races as reality itself became brighter for me.
I hugged him back as I savour the moment.
Oh how I wish we could be like this forever.

WWTG22: The Welcome Ball 2.0; Prim’s version
Tumblr media
“Don’t worry, I’m a good enough dancer for the both of us,” she whispered, as the first notes of the waltz began to play.
Primrose started to dance, and Malcolm was still nervous and tense. She whispered “Breathe. Right now, the only thing that matters is us.” She gently squeezed her hand into his shoulder as a reassurance, and kept guiding him, their eyes never parting from the other. a sky blue meeting the blue sea, like Gaia and Uranus found one another again.
Though her heart was racing, she told herself that she’d be the one who was calm and collected. She whispered him to follow her lead and think of nothing else but the dance. He spun her around, and Primrose’s breath caught in her lungs, but said nothing of it. His rather big shoe nearly stopped on her, but Primrose’s quick feet prevented it, and Malcolm nodded her thank you.
The next step was for Malcolm to pick her up and he did, and was surprised of how light she was. He easily spun her around, and slowly put her on the floor, their noses nearly touching. She prayed that Elian was far enough not to hear her heartbeat, that was as quick as a hummingbird. His hand moved to her lower back and dipped her, and she took a deep breath, collecting her thoughts. When she came back to him, they were close again-- too close. She could hear him gulp, and she was glad that she was not the only one.
With one last spin, the song stopped and everyone clapped. Malcolm gently kissed her hand and she curtsied to him, her cheeks warm from the activity “I look forward our next dance.”
“As do I. You’re an excellent teacher, Lady Gray.”
She smiled and he left, probably to drink champagne. She could notice a presence behind her, and she quickly spun around to find Henry, and she sighed of relief. He was quick to ask her to dance, as they had done every Christmas. Primrose smiled “Thought you’d never ask.”
The minuet started, and they went to the dancefloor, and the guests clapped, glad to see the iconic couple back into the dancefloor. Henry politely bowed, and so did Primrose, and soon began dancing, imitating the other’s gestures and talking back-and-forth, teasing one another “It’s a crying same you can’t dance with Elian, truly.”
“It’s fine. Last thing we want is to cause you another scandal. You’ve got enough in your plate with Lord Archibald and your dissolved engagement to Mr. Devlin.”
She nodded, and enjoyed the last minutes of the minuet, bowing again and everyone clapped. When everyone started talking to one another and Henry was gone, she beckoned her trusted valet, Ms. Barry, to come to her, “Aye, my lady?”
“When everyone goes to bed, please ask Mr. Goldcrest and His Highness to come here. Lit a few candles as well.”
“Of course, ma’am. Anything else?”
“Yes. Do keep this to yourself.”
“As you wish, my lady.”
She smiled and turned around to find a nervous William Devlin waiting for her conversation to end. He bowed politely and asked “May I have this next dance?”
She nodded, now a bit nervous-- she had done many events with Mr. Devlin, but this time, all eyes would be on them. This had been agreed between Lord Carlisle and her father to show everyone there was no bad blood between the families and that all was well.
The moment the country dance started, Prim sighed relieved. Though very jumpy and with far more movement, it was lighthearted and fun to do. The jolly song started, and William and Primrose started to dance and spin, and soon the majority of guests joined, forgetting for a moment their troubles. William and Primrose spun around, and she couldn’t help but laugh, and so did he. Soon, the dance ended and they bowed to one another, breathless and smiling. The applause was sound and everyone whispered about how good they got along.
When she went for a small bottle of champagne, she spotted the Earl of Wexford holding a scented handkerchief. It had the initials N.S embroidered beautifully and whispered “Missing a certain sultana, are you?”
He gasped, waking from his trance and nodded, fully knowing he couldn’t fool the lady “I was wondering if she would’ve accepted to be here, should she had remained in England. She’s probably to marry a Pasa of the empire.”
“What if she isn’t? If I’ve learnt something this past year, is that true love finds its way back where they belong.”
“And where is that, my lady?”
Primrose smiled “Where they are loved.”
She curstied and left, sipping her champagne and spotting her father talking to Jesse Seymour. A wave of feelings came over her. She still loved her father, but was hurt and betrayed of his role in her engagement and his true intentions. He looked over his shoulder and spotted her. He grinned at her, but she just couldn’t. His confession still hurt.
She emptied the glass and went over to talk to Miss Fawley, who was trying to keep track of a conversation between her fiancé and a guest she was yet to recognize.
Tumblr media
Midnight fell upon Winbourne, and Elian was looking for Primrose. When he saw candlelight in the hall, he went there... to find an equally confused Henry, who was looking for her as well. They both were surprised and delighted to find one another there “Elian. Primrose summoned you here as well?”
“Yes. I wonder where that girl is.”
Henry was about to propose to look for her when another candle was lit and a beautifully romantic sonata started playing... with Primrose there, sitting in front of the gigantic piano. Elian chuckled and Henry smiled.
Elian offered his hand “May I have this dance, Your Royal Highness?”
Henry beamed, playing alone “You may, Mr. Goldcrest.”
Primrose kept playing as both men danced in the small but intimate candlelight. focused on no one but them. Henry was smiling wide, and Elian had a small smile on his lips, clearly glad he got to dance with Henry in the end, with no scrutiny. Impossible to miss the sparks between them, who put to shame electricity itself.
At one point, Henry rested his head on Elian’s shoulder and Elian rested his on Henry’s head, both savouring this rare moment. Primrose gave them one more minute, making the song a bit longer. Then, she got up and told them to enjoy a few minutes more and they promised not to leave evidence.
Content to have helped the lovers, she headed upstairs to her room, but not without glancing at Malcolm’s.

"Go go go!" Small cheers rang behind the little mer wobbly standing on her two legs and moving forward. Holding her arms out to balance herself. The two ladies behind her keep encouraging her. I couldn't help but smile and try to encourage her as well. My little great grandchild.
How long as it been since I been in a family setting like this? Far too long ... Far too long. Delighted I popped in to check on my grandson now.
And then, she fell. And humph.
"Nala Nala its ok" Azaryn tries to calm her down, but it did nothing to ease her annoyance. Nor aggressive crawling as she stirs towards him and starts demanding, whimpering, to be held once she got in front of him.
And as any father, he couldn't say no. He grabbed her and lifted her onto the couch with. And then pointed to me, "Nala. This is your great grandfather."
I waved and smile at her, "hello there" and she just tries to grab my palm. So adorable. Laughs all around.
- - - - - - - -
I stare down on my notebook and map and felt defeated before I begun. Skyrim is way too big and she could be anywhere if my only contact here have weak info. Regardless ... I want to do this for Azaryn. A little check up. Can't be that hard to find my own granddaughter right?

hi brim! feel free to ignore this if you aren't taking qiye asks but i've been kind of. wondering if this is something i missed while reading or if the reason for the invasion at the end of qiye getting sped up in the 7th life (compared to the 1st one) ever got clarified somewhere. have any thoughts? ty for putting together the qiye/tyk timeline it was really handy! have a nice day <3
Oh I like this question! And you’re welcome! Before starting, I just want to first say, please take my interpretation with a grain of salt, because I did read the novel using mtl (with some spot-checking), and all my excerpt translations are done via running the raws through an online dictionary, exhausting my scant knowledge of Mandarin, and comparing with mtl when I get confused. I definitely welcome corrections and/or additions by people who’ve read the novel as closely or closer than this.
Also, I’m going to be nitpicking some elements of the novel I felt were thematically unsatisfying, just warning you.
So I think it’s really a ‘butterfly effect’ sort of thing going on.
Throughout Qiye, there are mentions of how Helian Qi is the more dangerous of the two older brothers, and how facing off against him was the biggest challenge to Helian Yi ascending the throne in Jing Beiyuan’s first life.
In the first life, Helian Qi was the one to go down to Liangguang, and used the opportunity to totally rout Helian Zhao’s faction. Although this would have caused Helian Pei to be more wary of Helian Qi, it ultimately gave him a wide open path to the throne.
In the seventh life, Jing Beiyuan went to Liangguang, and although he destroyed a lot of Helian Zhao’s faction, he didn’t destroy Helian Zhao himself, because he wanted to keep him around to continue contending with Helian Qi so Jing Beiyuan could build Helian Yi’s faction in relative peace.
However! During the time Jing Beiyuan was away, Helian Qi took the opportunity to ingratiate himself with Helian Pei, and made him suspicious of Jing Beiyuan.
Jing Beiyuan realizes pretty soon afterwards that he has to nip the Helian Qi issue in the bud, leading to all the morally dubious scheming that dominates the second half of the novel.
In order to destroy Helian Qi, Jing Beiyuan and Zhou Zishu first target his faction in the Northwest, Zhang Jin and Zhao Zhenshu. They do so by abducting Zhang Tingyu, Zhang Jin’s only son, muting him, planting him among Helian Qi’s brothel boys, and arranging it so Zhang Tingyu, on the verge of death at Helian Qi’s lecherous hands, is able to run home to communicate what Helian Qi had done to him. This leads to Zhang Jin turning on both Helian Qi and Zhao Zhenshu and going to the capital to have various righteous members of court (including Jiang Zheng, who had already been investigating Zhao Zhenshu) petition before Helian Pei.
The fallout effectively destabilizes the Northwest. From Zhang Jin’s pov in Ch.49, we have:
Zhao Zhenshu had spent every day accumulating wealth and bribing officials for decades, to the point that the whole host of generals submitted to him. Just one secret and some money spent, and he could deal with it on the spot without involving the great and distant emperor.
When it came to hard power, he had a division of Wagela troops under his control, all of whom were raw-meat-eating brutes, would work for anyone who paid, and each of whom was strong as a small mountain, such not even three to five ordinary people could match one. When it came to soft power, from the Northwest Spring Market up to the capital, all stores and caravans, if they weren’t thoroughly suppressed by him, then they’d be owned by his people. In the Northwest, he was invincible.
So, this guy pretty much runs this entire area which acts as a buffer between the Wagela’s territory and the Central Plains, and Jing Beiyuan and Zhou Zishu’s scheming topples him.
Oops!
Turns out, simultaneously having a division of Wagela troops lose a big source of their income and replacing the—albeit corrupt—people with the deepest roots in the Northwest with fresh faces, maybe wasn’t the best idea, all at once.
[Well, at least it kills off Helian Zhao, I guess]
And in fact, this is an aspect of Qiye I wish could have gotten explored more, because Jing Beiyuan does talk pretty big about things being ‘for the greater good’ in that trolley problem lecture he gives to Liang Jiuxiao, and like, he and Zhou Zishu… probably should have seen this coming? And I mean, I don’t know how much blood was shed in the first life during the power struggle between Helian Yi and Helian Qi, but methinks the path of slaughter the Wagela wreak on their way to the capital prooooobably more than rivals it? But I don’t think it ever gets addressed that mayyybe there were some holes in their oh-so-necessary-for-the-greater-good scheming?
And where’s the sense of remorse over having ended up making things worse? Well okay, maybe remorse would be out of character, but what about some reflection on karma, or the futile nature of trying to manipulate the circumstances of the world?
Well, much like Wuxi’s entire character arc in the second half of the novel, it gets subsumed by the plot revolving around Jing Beiyuan’s goal of getting Helian Yi settled on the throne. No time for introspection or regret, we’ve got a final plot arc to finish, a heroic, patriotic battle to fight!
…I sigh

Everyone and their hot mom talking up Word of Honor got me to take a break from my Yanxi Palace rewatch to check it out. I got 20 episodes into it and... initial impressions?
* can't claim that it's objectively good in, like, an ~artistic sense
* though the colors!! great outfits! and some fun fight scenes!
* an honest struggle to keep track of all the sects, who is who, and why this group is on their particular bullsh*t at any given time
* why are these guys shouting at these other dudes so much right now? what do they want? whose team are they on? why is it a different team than they were backing 20 min ago? do i actually need to care what is happening in this scene at ALL, in the big picture of the plot???
* i super loved all the scheming in Yanxi Palace and the politics in Nirvana in Fire, Golden Stage but all the sects business in WoH makes me #tired
* the main characters will make melodramatic Grand Statements of despair, disgust or loyalty and then seem to go back to neutral chillin a scene later, very Stargate Atlantis lmao
* subjectively, WoH is compulsively watchable! I powered thru it so fast it's wild
* the central canon pairing is appealing and easy to ship, even with all the emotional whiplash. Obvious sexual tension and romantic tension
* secondary pairing of demonic gremlin maid and sweet dumbo sect boi is EXCELLENT, I really enjoy their every scene together
* so.. much...melodrama...
* i was bemused to realize that I can't really picture a MDZS crossover event because lbr if WWX and LWJ wandered into one of the villages that had been recently blessed w the WoH pair's brand of chaos it would be straight up, "...Xue. Yang. Must. Die." territory and... they have LITERAL MAGIC.
* Ghost Valley vs a corpse army = novel!Wen Sect vs a corpse army = lolz
* basically, HE'S A WIZARD HARRY. your boy wei ying can kill u harder the more of you he slays & the beat don't stop, this is bad math for the wuxia pugilist world
* I am indeed enjoying the series enough to step back and crack open Lord Seventh to read the novel that introduces the Window of Heaven and ZZS. I've gotten about 1/3 of the way through and honestly, I love it. Fantastic read so far. I'm only conflicted in that the crown prince is a character I'm growing very attached to and his characterization in Word of Honor is a DISRESPECT!!!!1 (bro is far from perfect, he's ambitious and paranoid like any imperial son who will sit on the throne, but I do buy-in on him being a comparatively good option. In the same vein as the emperor in Yanxi Palace, he might be an inconsistent friend/lover but it seems like he basically gives a crap about the country and decreasing corruption and safeguarding the populace. As cdrama emperors go, 7/10.)
Frankly, I just headcanon that that's part of the WoH drama AU set up: the WoH Prince isn't actually Helian Yi, he's one of the other 2 brothers.
I dunno, maybe I will change my POV on this once I get to Faraway Wanderers. Maybe the Crown Prince will really get fully corrupted by absolute power and become a pathetic shell of himself.

Faraway Wanderers taps into some very good depression-y feelings, but Lord Seventh just.... KILLS it. And like, it fortunately evolves and changes as the book progresses, but that early-story Jing Beiyuan feeling of inertia and unwillingness to muster the energy to engage with the world, like a++. Especially when paired with a personality where laughter comes easily to him. I think I’m out of words for the day, but it’s a very nice set of personality traits that COULD be contradictory, but are balanced in a very delicate, realistic way. I like him a lot as a pov, but I am already impatient for Wu Xi to show up
(also looking forward to helian yi, while also bracing myself. i don’t often run into a character where i’m like ‘oh, you’re in LOVE in love’ and my immediate reaction is ‘oh NO :(’

Chapter 1/??? | Another Helory Story (Canon) | Helian's POV
I thought I could write something canonical of the two before drawing a comic of it, so have this <3 -Lumi
Crowds were never my cup of tea, the amount of socialising I can put up with is far too limited for me to enjoy such things. Whenever it became overwhelming, I'd withdraw from the scene and give myself a well-deserved break with an exhilarating read.
Call it escapism if you want, but for me, indulging in a fictional world will always be a miracle.
Shaded by a hawthorn tree, I turn the pages heartily to reveal another slice of heaven.
The sun was shining as the wind gently caress the meadow around me; it was as if nature itself sang a serene melody with the rustling of grasses and leaves.
How could one not describe this as an ideal avocation? is what I thought at first.
A series of crackles snap from above, breaking away the peaceful ambience. Cracked branches and leaves rained upon me as I took a look upwards.
In an instant, a figure plummeted through the tree, and fell right atop of me.
Even though he barely bear any weigh, my body wouldn't move. I froze in terror of what might as well be a corpse laying on me.
After what feels like an eternity, the figure suddenly gasps for air.
He looked into my eyes for a split second before scurrying himself to get up.
It was another skeleton, his clothing was painted in a pastel mixture of yellow, green, and blue. Those colours seemingly accentuates his petite stature with a tinge of innocence and delicateness.
The tree left a few scratches on his face; a guilt-filled yet friendly smile painted there, as he offers me a hand.
"I'm really really sorry, stranger." He speaks in a higher pitch than mine, a softly spoken tenor with a somewhat melodious tone.
A warm feeling spread across my soul as soon as he held my hand, he helped me up with care and even takes his time to check if I was okay.
"Oh thank heavens, you're alright-" he sighed in relief "-but I really am sorry for making such an atrocious entrance, hope I made a somewhat memorable first impression on you though."
Concern clearly shows through his demeanor, he laughed nervously after attempting to lighten the mood.
Before I could even respond, he continues to talk again.
-"Honestly, this one is my finest first impressions yet, there's this one time I accidentally crashed into someone's party -not by falling from the sky though, I just got thrown through their house by a friend of mine and."-
It seems the tension unleashes something from him, as if he's trying to ease the situation with a lighthearted conversation.
Talkative people were always mesmerising to me, but this stranger in particular has this certain charm that I can't describe.
He's really easygoing and seems to be able to adapt to the situation rather quickly.
The topic he brought up calms me down, and his little gestures and giggles in between lighten the mood in an instant.
Perhaps I stayed quiet for a little too long though since he started concluding the conversation.
"Ah well, that was fun-" he chimed "-but I wanna explore this place for a little, so see ya stranger! It was nice meeting you!"
I couldn't manage to mutter up a response as he waved goodbye.
He left as fast as the way he fell into my life.
A little part of me wishes that I did some more in our little time together.
But for now, I could only hope that fate will allow us to meet in a different time.

Chapter 1/??? | Another Helory Story (Canon) | Memory's POV
Hope you'll enjoy this one! The comic based on these is still on the way so have more writing instead \(´ ꒳` )/  -Lumi
Socializing is my forte, or at least that's what most people think of me.
which is oddly funny since they were always confusing to me. I always have this difficulty, you see—I can't seem to perceive or evaluate emotions.
Despite that, I tried my best to fit in anyway. It didn't take me long before I managed to remember all of the patterns and acts that I needed to do for certain types of people.
The multiverse is a terrifying place; maybe it's terrible for me to act this way, but losing my life isn't exactly an ideal alternative either.
Whatever it is that I need to do, I'll do it as long as I survive, and a little acting isn't that much of a price to pay.
Thankfully, I found someone interesting enough to ease the process. His name is Epitome; he's another version of me that acts rather... peculiarly rough.
With his brute-like strength, he'd protect me from time to time from all sorts of danger. He's not only useful but also quite entertaining to have around. Soon enough, he became my best friend.
It's not rare for people to express their concern about him, though. He's not exactly the friendly type you see; he acts offensively most of the time and would hit me full force as a sign of affection.
They'd always wonder why I was befriending such a brute. Despite all that, I got attached to him and acted along with his antics.
Lately though... it's been tiring.
After all this time, I've realised how little I know about his thoughts and sentiments; it's as if he's just another distant stranger to me for whatever reason.
The thought of him seeing me as nothing always leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. So whenever I got the chance, I'd choose a random universe to go to so I could clear my head from those sorts of thoughts.
Usually, teleporting won't be such a big deal.
Something sure went wrong today.
Suddenly I found myself up in the air, about 27 feet above the ground.
Wind flows all around me as gravity pulls me down in an instant, and the gust hits me harder as I accelerate downwards.
The breeze cradles me as I finally feel my built-up fatigue and reality slowly fade away.
That is until an abrupt, sharp sensation woke me up again; I was plunging through a tree, getting closer to what seems to be an inevitable end.
Everything went black as I prepared for the pain to seep in.
To my surprise, something soft broke my fall.
My "heart" races as I gasp for air, my eyes opened instantly to reveal another skeleton a few inches away from my face.
One of his eye sockets were blank with a flower engraving around it. He had a bigger stature than mine, and it’s no doubt that he he could have shoved me away easily earlier.
I get off of him instantly, It’s hard to not notice how tense he was.
Showing him the best smile I could make, I bent down to offer him a hand. "I’m really really sorry, stranger," I managed to mutter out.
He took my hand quietly and got up, I checked him again to see if he was completely fine.
“Oh thank heavens, you’re alright-” I sighed in relief “-but I really am sorry for making such an atrocious entrance, hope I made a somewhat memorable first impression on you though.”
What happened must have terrified him completely, so I decided to lighten the mood somehow.
He didn’t respond much and I started losing grip on my acting.
Silence was always unnerving to me. I always end up rambling random stuffs whenever that happens to fill in the dullness, and it’s no different from now.
-“Honestly, this one is my finest first impressions yet, there’s this one time I accidentally crashed into someone’s party -not by falling from the sky though, I just got thrown through their house by a friend of mine and.”-
Lots of people find this habit of mine annoying, so I don’t act like this most of the time.
Perhaps this stranger thinks so too, since he’s only been looking at me silently.
But I guess it was nice to not being told off for once...
“Ah well, that was fun,” I clasp my hands together as I conclude my sentence “,but I wanna explore this place for a little, so see ya stranger! It was nice meeting you!”
Like earlier, he didn’t respond at all as I waved goodbye to him.
I ran towards the meadow around us and stopped as soon as he’s out of my sight. The fatigue from earlier greets me again as I lose the last bits of energy left in me.
Everything goes black as I began to fall asleep on the spot.
