Happy Heavenly Birthday to Roddy McDowell

On this day in 1928, British actor Roddy McDowell was born. Roddy McDowell would have turned 95 years old today.

With a long career in films and TV appearances, Roddy became known to many young fans through his work as a voice over actor. Roddy's gentle voice could carry kindness as well as a sense of menace to it. Sadly, he passed away on October 8, 1998, from lung cancer.

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Steve Ditko

A Happy Heavenly Birthday to comic book artist Steve Ditko who would have turned 96 years old today.

He is best remembered for work on the The Amazing Spider-Man

He worked on other Marvel comics such as Strange Tales where he helped in creating Doctor Strange.

Over at DC Comics, he created the Creeper and Hawk and Dove.

At Charlton Comics, Ditko created a new Blue Beetle and The Question.

His style was a mixture of surreal, flowery, embroidered, murky, shadowy and light.

Unlike other artist, Ditko hardly gave interviews and seldom allowed himself to be photographed.

He passed away on July 28th, 2016 at the age of 89.

Four years since I blew off dinner with you to hang out with my friends.

Four years since I went to sleep, expecting to see you the next day.

Four years since I got the call at 4am. That you were found unconscious.

Four years since I rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night, praying for a miracle.

Four years since I cried next to your bed, holding your hand.

Four years since I cried and sang lullabies and prayed and told you everything I should have so much sooner.

Four years since I hugged you and rested my head on your shoulder.

Four years since I saw you behind your eyes.

Four years since I said goodbye.

I thought it wouldn’t hurt anymore, but my god, it does. I love you Mom. I still miss you.

I just wish this was a journey you could return from.
